CHARACTER ASK GAME-
ASHOKA TANO
HELP I SAW THAT YOU LISTED AHSOKA ON YOUR REBLOG BUT YOU BEAT ME TO THE ASK.
Caps lock spam time
Tumblr media
HER. AAAAAA HERRRRR.
SHES MY TOP 3 FAVORITE FICTIONAL CHARACTER OF ALL TIME. MY HIGHSCHOOL HYPERFIXATION. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. SHE IS THE REASON I GAVE AN OUNCE OF MY ATTENTION TO STARWARS. She's sarcastic, passionate, determined, loyal, DUEL WIELDS TWO LIGHT SABERS, BAMF. I have her book, I have her Funko, I NAMED MY CAR AFTER HER (similar blue color). SHE IS THE BEST
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Ahsoka/Barriss. Which is tragic for all sorts of reasons but waaaah they had so many good episodes together
My non-romantic OTP for this character: AHSOKA AND ANAKIN. AAAA. MY BELOVEDS. THEM. I am a huge sucker for the student and mentor dynamic. NNNNNGGG. THEIR BANTER WAS EVERYTHING TO ME. THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER SO MUCH. YOU KNOW I LOVE PROTECTIVE CHARACTERS AND THESE TWO HAVE EACH OTHERS BACK. LIKE
Tumblr media
This moment lives in my brain.
UGGGGH and then the tragedy of it all bc we know how Anakin ends up. The fact that she's part of the reason why he turned against the Jedi council. My brain chemistry was changed over the last episodes of season 5.
"Listen. I'd never let anyone hurt you Ahsoka. Never"
AND THEN SEASON 2 OF REBELS. THAT EPISODE BROKE ME. Omfg I love broken promises. Unfortunately by the time the next seasons of rebels came out, I moved on to Arrowverse. So I STILL don't know the conclusion to that duel. But I guess she has a live action show now so rip spoilers.
Other brotps are her and rex. And of course her and obiwan. The Ahsoka, Anakin, obiwan trio was the best.
My unpopular opinion about this character: she was a great character day one
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Ack IM NOT SURE BC I THINK ANYTHING ILL SAY IS IN SEASON 7. Like wtf I want to see her reaction to order 66. What was she doing during that time? I don't know bc I watched the show when season 6 got cut/cancelled and by the time we got the season 7 revival, i forgot a lot and wanted to refresh by rewatching the series. BUT GUESS WHO STILL HASNT DONE THAT
Gah clone wars was my life for a couple years and it's the show I point to as an example of "cancelled show gets revived years later"
I forgot if ahsoka had any episodes in the cut season 6, but if she did, Id love to see those properly animated.
I need to rewatch this show

I have so many thoughts on Arcane which I'll get to eventually, but before that I just have to say...
ANYONE who is complaining about how short and rushed this season was, or how little time we got with certain characters/plots... don't blame the creators or the writers.
Blame the streamers. Those studios, Netflix in particular, are the ones who are responsible for destroying TV and cutting seasons in half, and then limiting most shows to 2 seasons. Television has suffered so much because of their greed. Those studios aren't run by artists, they're run by moneymen. They don't care about your shows, they don't care about the stories or the characters or the fans, they just want money. And they mismanage their money so much it's fucking sickening.
And yes, it is a choice. It doesn't have to be this way, and there can be exceptions. The finale of the last season of Stranger Things was 2 and a half hours long. It was it's own movie.
So blame the streamers. Blame them every single day until we get greedy asshole's hands off of our art so that we have the space to present our stories in the way they deserve.
EDIT: To be clear when I say streamers, I'm talking about the studios, particularly the ones like Netflix/Disney/Hulu that can only be watched on the internet via streaming apps. Broadcast television used to be, and still is in some cases (Blue Bloods, Grey's Anatomy season 87...), 20-23 episode seasons. With story and nuance and side quests and growth.

I got possessed dude, did a line of flour— some crazy shit anyways… Swampcat
Swampcat, Kremy Lecroux x Morning Frost
They both find each other interesting like anatomy wise, drastically different, some “lemme examine you 🤓☝️”
Kremy slowly blinks and Frost gets flustered… that’s the good shit to me man. Purring, Bellows… I SHOOT THEM TWO WITH MY AMERICAN GUN

I really do think a lot on Edwin’s very serious declaration of never letting the two of them get separated after Charles shows concern about it in episode 1, and it’s abundantly clear that he’s just as protective of Charles as Charles is of him. However, due to the kinds of situations they ended up in during season 1, Edwin fell a lot more into the role of the one who needed protecting, which is why I really badly want to see Edwin have a moment in season 2 where he protects Charles or saves them from being separated again, through clever words maybe, or his spell books.
I just desperately want some kind of follow through on the ferventness of his “I will never let that happen” because with the conviction of that line, god I believe it, but do I ever really want to see it too

What greater indulgence is there than being able to put yourself in mild discomfort?
---
I've had this idea for @ayyy-imma-ninja's Fairy!Eclipse since just before he got officially introduced. I think he'd enjoy things like being able to stand in the rain, even if it's uncomfortable, just because he CAN.

ok im waffling on about fallout instead of having breakfast but i saw a criticism of how the prisoners were treated that's stuck with me.
spoilers!
so i think the criticism wasn't incorrect, per se: it condemned the way the show portrayed the vault dweller's naive intention to rehabilitate their murderous captives. it found fault with a common, and horrible, message that tv shows like to say, which is that carcerial violence and even the death penalty is the only effective way to deal with criminals, who are a fundamentally Bad category of human. im sick of that message too! but i think that wasn't what was going on here, actually.
so like, the vault dwellers had only ever experienced violent loss the once, and didn't really know how to cope other than denial and repression of the ordeal. but they were all hopeful and enthusiastic that their prisoners, the invaders that came to kill them all and take their stuff, could be eventually welcomed into the community as their comrades. the champions of this cause were nebbishy dorks and painfully out of touch academics. this is pretty normal for how prison reformers are portrayed, if extremely fucking annoying for those of us who ARE in favor of prison reform.
but so of course when the son of the former overseer, Norm, speaks up and suggests killing the prisoners, because why should they share resources with invaders who explicitly wanted to keep hurting them? why should they show mercy to their attackers? everyone is appalled by this suggestion. because they had to reinvent the whole concept of vengeance right then and there, because grudges and cycles of violence are anathema to a bottle society like theirs. they have been raised all their lives to forgive and forget and now, put to the test, they're recommitting to this ethos: get along, let the past go, look towards the future, believe the best of everyone.
but the prisoners die, anyway. the prisoners are killed with rat poison. and the thing is that Norm who suggested it didn't do it himself. and the prison guard who's blamed for it, even though she privately agreed with Norm that the prisoners are dangerous and unforgiveable, she didn't do it either. it's not a moment of triumphant, cathartic vengeance and it doesn't prove that there's no way to negotiate with terrorists and invaders but kill them like vermin because that's not what the message is meant to be.
the message is that norm stands there in the middle of these inconvenient prisoners, these corpses dressed in his own people's uniforms, and he looks at the new overseer. and he knows that she killed them, and she knows that he knows. she wanted him to know. this is her message and he's reading her loud and clear. and he doesn't look like a guy who's just been backed up by authority, who's just been validated in his desire for the ultimate control over those who have wronged him.
he's scared and pale and the music is ominous as fuck. and he's inside the cell, he's directly in the middle of it.
because what just happened is that he realized his entire society is being held prisoner, and the overseer is the one with the rat poison. and that he doesn't know, anymore, what freedom and safety and justice actually mean, just that he doesn't have them and he doesn't know where to find them.
that's what that scene meant. not that rehabilitative justice is a pathetic delusion of people who have no idea how to make hard choices.
but that before you advocate for killing prisoners, you might want to see how big that prison is, first.
and which side of the bars you're standing on.

Thinking again about how many disabled people end up getting shunted into art/craft work because like. You can technically do it. Sometimes. Yeah you make a pittance at best and are almost certainly going to make your physical health worse by pushing yourself to get things done, but what else are you gonna do? You're too sick for anyone to hire you. You're "not sick enough" to qualify for benefits. Just devote every scrap of time and energy you have to a chronically underpaid, low-prestige, incredibly labor-intensive industry. A few people manage to make it work with luck and help and the right skills. Many people don't. Everyone gets pressured to monetize their hobbies, but it's especially insidious if you're disabled because any tiny thing you manage to accomplish to bring yourself joy gets twisted into proof that you should somehow be able to work.
