I think I have succeeded in doing All The Things so I don't have do chores or cleaning on my birthday (which is tomorrow or arguably today, but I haven't slept yet so it's not tomorrow yet).
There is cake, there is frosting, I am simply waiting on strawberries to arrive to assemble it, which will happen tomorrow.
#I like to make a bit of a Thing out of my birthday when I'm able to#for reasons relating to my Tragic Backstory(tm)#My mom kinda . . . stopped acknowledging it very much at the same time the parentification and stuff really ramped up#while my siblings still got like. Birthday presents and shit I was expected to Understand that Look It's Just So Much Closer to Christmas#and she had a particular trauma event that happened about a week before my birthday the year I was 9 and in retrospect was very mean to me#Anyway I like to make it a little bit of a Thing#I lived bitches!#not necessarily in the sense of having a ton of people around or anything#but I like cake and I do like presents and I do like spending time with people I like#I got myself a shiny American Girl thing this summer that I saved up for for several months and it has been in Lynati's studio since June#(this admittedly was a somewhat bigger splurge than would be my norm BUT I knew it'd be a week after the election)

melliwyk lived in her house for over a decade, and it was The Haunted House before she moved in and lived there as a largely reclusive wizard, making it The Haunted House (they say a witch lives there!), and one of the most fun routine-breakers in her life was when kids and teens would brave the trek through the woods to dare each other to knock on her door, which she always rewarded with Haunted House theatrics
#usually baxter likes to hang out outside when she doesn't need him so he often sees kids coming well in advance and can let her know#soul's rest is a tiny little rural village outside the central dominance of the vault#so it does not take very much magic At All to give nosey locals a satisfying spook#probably she also has some kind of rube goldberg scooby-doo ass Contraptions set up in case anyone comes by when she's asleep or out#this came up in canon when we went back to her house in the campaign#some kids showed up in the night when I think zhartook? was taking a watch? and he woke mel up and she was like OH MY GOD YES WATCH--#just a lil spookin. some prestidigitation eerie noises and chill breezes#and then boggle wandered into view of the window and scared the bejeezus out of them before mel could ramp it up herself#DELIGHTFUL#in general if she was in a good mood she'd stop what she was doing and have fun prankin#if she was in a bad mood she'd do something more decisively repellant like fog cloud or Cause Fear#but always harmless-- and never breaking kayfabe if it could be helped. good bit of fun for everyone involved! you'd hate to spoil that#obviously there are plenty of people who knew who she was and that she lived there because like... she did buy groceries etc#but most kids didn't know and would never connect the occasionally brusque but geberally friendly gnome they saw sometimes with The Witch#my OCs#melliwyk

Thing that baffles me about Palworld is now its been out a lil and people have explored it more... Apparenlty the whole slavery and animal abuse aspect which is *heavily advertised* as the quirky silly gimmick is... completely optional and often the worst way to play the game.

WHY WOULD YOU ADVERTISE IT LIKE THAT??? Oh yeah cuz people who dont like funny haha animal slavery are definitely going to buy the funny haha slavery game. And then its actually like 60% funny haha slavery.
(I'm basing this off the steam page primarily. Its like... Half the description and images. Because surprisingly I expect that to be an accurate representation of the game and if I'm going to like it or not.)

Not a fan of poppy playtime but I really like the direction they took the visuals/horror in chapter 3! Even if it is a little janky lol
#didn't like chapter 2 bc it was kinda boring. i mean it was just 3 minigames#so im glad theyre ramping it up#also the character designs are more horror oriented now#like. miss delight is fucking terrifying#lots of people talk shit about poppy playtime bc they think its a cash grab but like#they put too much effort into chr 3 for it to be just a money maker yknow#ok imma stop yappin now lol#poppy playtime
