Lena losing her patience and furiously berating Gwen for potentially endangering the staff members of the OAIR is quite literally the opposite of how Elias ran the Archives.

Elias used the Archival staff—as well as his Archivist—as pawns that can be readily replaced as needed. His patron offered them minimal protections at best (the Archivist’s privileges notwithstanding), and even then, he would never actually intervene to save any of them if they were in danger, much less take precautions to protect them at their headquarters. They are used as bait, as sacrifices, as currency, as objects. The listener knows, eventually, how easily he could discard them if his plans called for it.

But Lena. This episode showed us that Lena keeps her entire organization running through keeping her subordinates hidden, safe, and unnoticed by the Externals. It’s quite clear through her conversation with Gwen that such a safety risk has never happened before.

As far as we know, Lena has successfully kept all of her employees alive, watched them come and go, bemoaned the turnover rate, and then got them to look the other way while they documented and dutifully filed the horrors.

But most impressive of all, she’s kept her real work hidden from her subordinates, and her subordinates hidden from her real work—a feat Elias had no interest or desire to accomplish.

inspired by @where-does-the-heart-lie and given courage by @wolf-eared-fangirl and their own wonderful rendition of the asl kpop au.

i got inspired a whole lot by the notes and artworks from whery but also tried to make it my own by making it increasingly impossible realistically. one of those it’s a fanfic and i can make anything possible vibes.

all of these are just concept notes and ideas i was able to keep down for the past what? two months or so? there are a lot more wips and ideas, and i wanted to see if there was anyone who wanted to bump brains with me or was willing to indulge seeing my messy thoughts/notes.

i made law important because i am obsessed with not only asl but him too. no escape from the brain worms, really. even if he doesn’t really pop up in a lot of my current wips for this au…

i should make storyboards but my brain has latched to grps like exo or atz for like. clothes inspo. i have multiple concert wips that needed me to make an entire fake asl concert setlist so that was fun, considering how i ended up adding eng and jp songs… i cannot contain myself and have been repeatedly editing everything I have on this for months ,,,

Linktober day three- Zelda

Skyward sword Zelda my baby <3 I carved her riding her loftwing and didn't like it too much, so I did her playing her harp on the egg as well.

The top two lines of music have the notes for the Ballad of the Goddess, and the bottom three are Zelda's lullaby. The Ballad of the Goddess is Zelda's lullaby backwards so I wanted to have both :)

After the events of ouaw, I imagine Kremy would start Carnivale Lecroux back up (he would even promote it as “the NEW and IMPROVED Carnivale Lecroux!”, even though it’s just barely improved). He’s actually paying his employees in money now, rather than IOUs (because he would not like a repeat of last time, thank you very much). Granted, it’s not a LOT of money, maybe a gold piece or two every other week, but hey! It’s money!

As far as actual jobs around the Carnivale go, things are mostly unchanged.

Torbek’s been bumped up to helping Gideon with security, as well as the usual rescue/climbing on things. Sometimes he helps run the games, but he’s usually left alone in the shadows.

Gricko runs a miniature petting zoo, in which the animals involved are Hootsie and his spirits made corporeal. Every other hour, Gricko will pull out his ocarina, and the spirits will dance around and entertain guests while Hootsie is doing her little jig and looking cute (this is also the performance he does in the “Big Top” at the end of each night. He is by far the favorite amongst children).

Gideon’s role has been mostly unchanged. He is both the repairman and security (however if Gideon is currently busy with repairs, Torbek helps with the security aspect). He is almost never seen around the games or rides beyond either talking to whoever is running them, or repairing them. He also has a performance in the “Big Top”, which is a lot like his performance in the Witchlight Carnival (where he lights his chains on fire and makes a big show of it), and he is usually the last show of the night

Kremy is, of course, the owner, so most of his work is handled in his trailer (which is another improvement the Carnivale has made, though this only applies to each member of the Krew). He handles most of the ordering, profits, and the like. When he���s not doing that, he can be found wandering the Carnivale, talking to his friends, not-so-subtly watching his husband work, or bossing his other employees around (or being yelled at by angry customers). At the end of the night, while he does not necessarily have an act of his own, he does introduce each act before they’re performed at the “Big Top” (which, btw, is just a large ring in the dirt surrounded by cheap wooden benches. They used to have a tent, once, but, well…you have a lot of risks when your husband is a fire genasi and his main act is throwing his fire around. Coincidentally, this is also the same day where Kremy moved Gid’s act to the end, rather than the beginning)

Frost, like Kremy, works mostly behind the scenes. He helps Kremy with the legal paperwork (lawsuits and the like), since Frost seems to enjoy that sort of thing whereas it gives Kremy a headache. When Frost isn’t doing that, he is either in the local town grocery shopping, or is wandering the Carnivale and talking to Gricko or Torbek if they’re not busy. He doesn’t have an act of his own, but he will still be found by the “Big Top” by the end of the night, looking for any issues or suspicious figures, and mentally letting Kremy and/or Gideon know if he senses that something has gone awry.

As far as trailers go, only the main Krew have them. Frost, Torbek, and Gricko each have their own trailer, whereas Kremy and Gideon share a larger trailer (Kremy argued it was to save money, but considering the noises that come from that trailer throughout the night, they all knew that was a lie). There’s very little space in each trailer, but they serve their primary function (plus, it beats sleeping on the ground). There’s also a communal cooking pot in the center of the living area, though very rarely does anyone other than Kremy use it (and he usually cooks enough for just about all of the staff to eat at least one plate of food, so there’s very little complaint there).

idk if anyone else has gotten the beta for the new communities feature but these features in particular are a little bit concerning to me. i haven't tested this, but it looks to be an entirely separate comment section that's hidden from the post's op if they're not in the community, meaning you're removing a creator's ability to moderate the comment section surrounding their work. this is especially concerning for me as a creator who produces content related to transness and gender identity--moderating my comments is often a constant daily struggle to keep bigots from having their way with my posts, and this seems like it has the potential to remove or at least significantly impair my ability to moderate who engages with my content and how. Also, on a site that's had major problems with transphobic and racist harassment in the past, i can see this very quickly devolving into a way to dogpile on certain users or even organize the kind of harassment campaigns we KNOW certain people on this site are prone to engage in with no way for any outsiders to even WITNESS what's going down. At the very least i think the op of a post reblogged into a community needs to have access to the community comments (which may already be a feature--like i said i haven't tested it yet but this explanation reads to me like they don't) but on a larger scale i think the devs for this site NEED to think about the potential for misuse when putting out new features like this because this just looks like a nightmare waiting to happen to me
