Higuruma AU time

Ok, I need y'all to hear me out..... Metal band guitarist Higuruma

A/N: This is what happens when one of my brain cells is listening to my metal playlist, another is thinking about true crime, and the last one is thinking about @eldritchdilf 's incredible tattooed Higuruma art. If y'all like this AU, let me know, and I'll do more with it!

Warnings: None, but I do reference a famous, real-life murder case at the end. There are no pairings or ships referenced in this.

Higuruma Hiromi first picks up the guitar because he’s angry at a broken world he’s too young to try and fix yet.

As a young adult, he throws himself into his academics, and music helps him find a release for his more aggressive pent-up emotions… until he gets into law school and realizes early on that the system has failed everyone.

Higuruma starts his pre-law courses and begins to write his own songs, using his whip-smart brain to piece together lyrics that rage against corruption.

He plays the local bars with a friend's band after every exam, shedding the usual black suit jacket to reveal his intricate sleeves of tattoos.

Each piece has a meaning that only he knows; every bit of ink marks Higuruma's resolve to protect the innocent.

Higuruma finishes his degree but absolutely snaps after he joins his first law firm. His boss tells him to bend the rules to protect someone powerful, and Hiromi walks out the same day.

Hiromi drops out of the legal world and dives headlong into his music. Unsurprisingly, he rises to fame after a few years.

However, Higuruma is still the same man; he uses his newfound influence to demand reform, stand up against injustice, and advocate for the wrongfully imprisoned.

It turns out that he never stopped learning law on the side, so he will absolutely do pro-bono legal counseling for prisoners or defendants who appeal to him.

He earns so much money as a literal rockstar but only keeps what he needs. Everything else goes to support his community in some way.

Important note: This AU is heavily inspired by the amazing musicians/celebrities from all genres who used their influence to help Damian Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley (aka The West Memphis Three). I would highly recommend that you learn about this case.

Giant American chestnuts down the road from me. Last fall I harvested a bunch of fallen nuts from them. I ate some and this spring I planted ones that had been stratified in my fridge. While not native to my area at all, these trees are truly remarkable. If you get a chance look up the plight of the American chestnuts. They used to blanket the east coast but due to the Chinese chestnut blight they are now incredibly rare.

theyre a pair of twin beasts, middle schoolers! i have no idea who is hazelnut and who is chestnut i kept calling them both names like that, theyre they/them in the way there are always two kids. these kids are beasts(?) that look like human but with magic and animal ears and tails. theyre adopted by a desi family of wizards so they do witchy spellcasting stuff. their names are in vietnamese cause. well im viet, and theyre kind of a ripoff of a vietnamese early 2000s tv show about a family of wizards (LOL) coming to the human world and try to blend in, except mine is just about the family trying to take care of these two beasts and the shenanigans revolve around them! if i were to continue writing them now i'd probably do the sitcom format, something like old d*sney channel series like wizard of waverly place (wait i think i also stole from this LMAO) or good luck charlie where the focus is on the interpersonal relationships of everyone in the family and how they are to the kids, growing as they learn to take care of them? idk. but this was 2012, i was 12, so i ripped from cardcaptor sakura and ben10 and pokémon or other similar video games to make them into mahou-kodomo shounen protags going around different worlds capturing creatures-of-the-week but theyre all in the back of my head now </3 vote for them if you like little animal freaks that would crawl on the floor chewing furniture and bite each other then cry to mom

Join him on his trip to China where he gets thrown into a basket and is forced to float the Pacific Ocean for days until he discovers ancient Chinese scrolls hidden in the basket with him, narrowly escaping being fired by his boss yet again. Follow him to India where he believes he traveled to the 1800s and is mistaken for a butler and cleans precious furniture with bleach which ruins everything until he realizes he was just staying at some guys house the whole time and he didn't time travel to the 1800s.

Publishers' Binding Thursday

It's been a couple of weeks since we shared a publishers' binding with our fine internet friends, so here's a bright one to start the semester off right! This is Bill Nye's Chestnuts Old and New: Latest Gathering. Bill Nye is a pen name used by American humorist and founder of the Laramie Boomerang (which he named after his mule) Edgar Wilson Nye (1850-1896). Nye was educated in River Falls, WI and later moved to Laramie in the Wyoming territory in 1876, where he was justice of the peace, superintendent of schools, a member of the city council, and postmaster.

This book is a collection of humorous short tales or vignettes published by John Lovell Co. around 1888. The cover is a bright blue book cloth with some swirly knots and arches with what looks like a griffin without wings at the center surrounded by leaves. The spine has similar patterns and the title and author stamped in a gold box. It features "new illustrations from original sketches, photographs, memoranda, and authenic sources by Williams, Opper, and Hopkins."
