No seriously looking back on this year there was no middle ground. It was either the Best most Amazing things or the absolute Kill-Yourself worst. Need a year of even keel normalcy with some everyday types of joy and sorrow in 2024 pls.
#Bad: mom got diagnosed with cancer. violently SA'd in an alleyway. couldnt find a job and ended up workking minimum wage retail#had to go on food stamps. OD'd on a mystery drug.#Good: mom had surgery and is now in remission from cancer. i finished my MA with a perfect score. travelled in Europe for 3 months.#found some cats in the backyard and took them in. got a job at one of the most elite firms in my field completely out of the blue#like... no middle ground#its insane#and like these were all happening concurrently#one after the other#heard my mom was in remission and went out to celebrate and was SA'd on the way home#that kind of concurrent

I do love, now that I'm actively looking for like, articles, the number of gaming articles that have me like "this seems like a you problem" like oh my god you can't save a thousand different files which inhibits your ability to romance every single character in one run that diverges seven ways. bestie have you considered just playing the game again. this is like the equivalent to me of when d&d players act like picking one spell and not another is the equivalent of chernobyl.

sorry i don't have anything to say about the "to hell and back" two-parter! it's a really good episode with some great guest characters and some real emotions. but it's based off robert pickton and that's all i can think about. may he rot.
#my Indigenous Studies teacher knew one of his victims#she found out through the Sun while in line at a checkout#(im not sure who she didnt specify and none of us asked for more details. if i knew i would of course say her name)#also just. preemptively. i see a lot of americans in conversations about pickton going 'omg how could they have only given him 25 to life?'#it's because that was the most severe sentence possible at the time. and still kind of today?#new legislation in 2011 allows parole ineligibility periods to be served consecutively instead of concurrently but “life w/o parole” still#isn't a sentence on its own. it's just something i wish more americans knew because there's so much important conversation to be had about#how catastrophically those women were failed in life and in death. but pickton's sentence isn't an example of it that's just a country#having a different justice system than yours. and i want people to devote more time to the many MANY actual failures.#if that makes sense?? like. be outraged about everything else! but again that part is literally just Different Countries Have Different Law#not tagging the episode or series. idk. just feels wrong#hopefully none of this comes off as insensitive. just yeah this episode is a little too real for me to talk about as a work of fiction

They are but wee little snippets, friend. Also, sneakily, they are not concurrent chapters--just sections I pried out of the WIP that don't reveal the Major spoilers I've piled up so far. Those 300 and change pages up there ^^^ are still all rising action.

It's not impossible that this thing may wind up having to break into a series rather than one (1) book. If I keep going at this rate my doorstopper is going to turn into a full wall. w h o o p s

Sweating at the fact that I gotta go back to school in a few days, the amount of motivation I was able to muster this holiday season was monumental for me and I accomplished things I'd been unable to start for months. I don't want to lose it again
