I’m gonna try to focus on other stuff because I think I’ve been making way too many posts about Dolph being a grooming victim but the people who argued about Rayfrog having an age gap don’t seem to care about the very canon stuff regarding how Alex treated Dolph and that’s kinda funny

My best friend and I moved in together with his closest friend from his MA program, and while I had met her before (the friend; my bff is a man), we hadn't spent much time together because I've never lived away from the West Coast (and only two years out of the PNW) and she's never lived outside of North Carolina and only briefly visited the PNW once, when she went to Portland last year.

It's been a delight to show her around the PNW and realize we need to explain things that are just sort of omnipresent in our lives. The bff and I were casually griping with each other about having to run an errand to Trader Joe's at an inconvenient hour, and were telling her, "it's okay, you can stay in the car and avoid the people if you want" and she was like "NO I MUST SEE IT, I'VE ONLY HEARD OF THEM" and nearly ascended to another plane when we showed her around the store.

The bff and I grew up in the same town in NW Washington (him for his first 18 years, me from 9 to 19) and he lived in Bellingham and Seattle for years before he went to NC for grad school (I went to the SF Bay Area for mine, a very different experience). Both of them are hardcore coffee aficionados, but he struggled with the different Coffee Ways of the South, so for the true PNW experience they want to tour various indie coffeeshops next.

Also, she adores Kaidan in Mass Effect and we were like, oh, is your passport up to date? We could take a trip sometime and show you your boyfriend's beloved English Bay. It's very beautiful :)

Tbh I get why they're not having more prev games options factor in (the crunch and remaking this game like 5 times) and I think the argument of focusing on making this game reactive inside of itself instead of to past events is fair and valid even.

I do however have to raise my eyebrow at the "we prioritized the choices that could be the most interesting" when what they had was 1. Who you romanced as inquisitor (which?? Was labeled friendship/romance in the screenshot I saw?? Even tho it didn't let you choose who your friends were???) 2. Whether the inquisition was disbanded 3. Something about Solas or whatever

But NOTHING about the well of sorrows?? But both the inquisitor and Morrigan are gonna be in the game?? My first question is: why did you not think who got the well of Sorrows would be interesting? My second question is: what is the goddamn point of having the inquisitor or Morrigan come back if the most ominous/interesting potential consequence for them is not going to be relevant at all?

They also said that they would be keeping it vague what was going on on all other decisions so that it felt like "your dragon age" still exists- but it would be impossible to be vague about Morrigan/Inquisitor and the well of Sorrows, GIVEN who has the power over it in this game. So the available options are 1. They are lying and they do make a Canon decision we cannot control 2. They forgot about the well entirely 3. Inquisitor and Morrigan die in a fire explosion two seconds after seeing them and conveniently completely cut off from the power the well has over them so we don't have to think about this at all

None of these are satisfying options. I am not against kind of "clean slating" this game for real. I think it is set in locations where that could be *stretched* to be feasible, and I think that if they had EAs guns to their heads the entire time making it, it IS the most artistically sound decision to prioritize making the game stand on its own over having it be a serious of fanservice moments. But why the fuck do we need to have Morri show up then? Put her away. Put the inquisitor away even. The fact that they have brought Morrigan back AND made this choice makes me question the story direction heavily- bc it seems like 1. Not everybody present even knew what the dominoes the previous game was setting up were and/or 2. They ARE still trying for fanservice anyway, which is stupid bc this whole venture was to prioritize new storytelling

I SAW IT, BABEY!!!

Woke up at 6:30 am this morning, looked at every weather model and source I could fine, and took a gamble trying to find the clearest skies. It paid off! Almost completely clear, 4 mins 8 seconds of totality. Beautiful setting. No traffic problems on the way up or way back home.

It was....seriously the coolest thing I've EVER seen. Idk how to really describe it. It looked like it was fake, like it belonged straight out of a sci-fi movie but it's natural. It went dark like the night. The birds stopping chirping. We could see STARS!

Just stunning experience.

I am currently working at a Goodly William thrift store as a cashier and I have had a time of it.

Anyway, I was checking this customer out and she had two cds: a metal band I can't recall and Hilary Duff. I asked if she had checked the cds, she hadn't, so I checked and said that the Hilary Duff had a skip ring on it, but it wasn't bad and should play okay.

She said 'Oh, that's fine. I collect them for the aesthetics. They're so cool, like some sort of lost technology.' and inflicted psychic damage on me. I just paused for a second and I'm glad I at least had a face mask on to hide the confusion, read her total, and had to tell her we don't have a tap reader.

I need a new job asap...
