My country's elections didn't manage to drive me to drink (thankfully, as they happen thrice a year), but the US ones just might.

In all seriousness I'm so sorry to anyone who will be negatively affected by a tr*mp administration. I truly cant believe that hate won there is no way that many people saw and heard what that man was saying and thought "yeah the country needs that"...like ur actually fucking stupid. I've been watching from the uk and it blows my mind how he was allowed to even run in the first place or atleast not disqualified for the things he's said over the last couple of months like isulting his opponent, or the threats to Liz Cheney or threatening leftists with the national guard??
America you have let your women down. As if they hadn't lost enough (also if you're one of those "wOmEn fOr tRuMp" literally fuck you ur an insult to the women who fought so hard for you to be able to vote in the first place and now you used it to vote against ur own best interest) and to all the minorities I'm so sorry aswell. You deserve better.
As for the rest of the world we will be impacted aswell. He's already threatened to pull out of NATO which will affect us all and I think it's safe to assume Palestine will truly suffer even more horrifically than they already are. I'd think that goes for ukraine aswell. As for his views on climate change.. well that will affect us all aswell. America are already one of the biggest producers of polution now that idiot who thinks it's a host will most likely cause catastrophic and irreparable damage. The animals and nature have been let down too. I'm truly suprised he won I knew it would be close but I genuinly didnt expect it and not only did he win but Republicans took the house AND the Senate??? Now he has even more power than he did before bc a bunch of his "yes men" are in now...I'm just baffled there is no way that many ppl watched his disastrous campaign and thought "yh I want that" I mean that rally at maddison square garden reminded me of the nazi's...not to mention him undermining democracy, being a felon and convicted of SA oh and also the fact that most of his former cabinet refused to endorse him and said he was incompetent and dangerous...
Thoughts and prayers to all those who worked so hard for change and to not go back but will now be subjected to all the hatred he spreads. Kamala Harris you truly deserved so much better I really hope to see her run again but if not she can come to the UK to be our prime minister anytime I would happily vote for her!đź’™
I've learned so much about american politics over the last couple of months and have educated myself best I could and even tried to convince some ppl on social media to vote blue I feel defeated and like I could've tried to do more. Its upsetting for women everywhere that ppl really thought it's okay for that creep to be in office. I stand with you and I support youđź’™

Well, I'm done. I can't do this anymore. I'm tired and depressed and fucking terrified. I wish I could leave this damn place but I can't cause I'm fucking poor. I wish I lived in a country where everyone believed in equal rights, where I had secure bodily autonomy, where everyone wanted to actually help their fellow countrymen. But instead, I'm stuck in an ass backward country that cares more about hurting the people they deem "unworthy" even if it means you will suffer in the process.
I have no fight left in me. I just want to crawl into bed, fall asleep, and that be the end.
That damn asshole is going to win all because of these hateful chucklefucks.
I'm a woman in my 20s cursed to live in the south. I don't want to hear from racist white magats when they complain about everything being more expensive than it already is. I don't want to hear them complain about losing their social security. I don't want to hear them complain about losing their healthcare. I don't want to hear them complain when this country falls into an economic drpression and we lose millions in our workforce to unethical mass deportation causing a famine (because lets be real, everyday americans aren't going to work farm jobs that immigrants work now when they're all forced out of the country). I don't want to hear about them being paid even less than they already are. Not being able to find essentials in store thanks to his tariffs, losing their homes, and the list goes on. I don't want to hear any of it. To everyone who voted for him, you have to sit and rot in what's to come. You wanted Tr*mp, you get his shitty policies as well, so suck it up. You hate others so much you voted against yourselves and you have no one to blame but you.
IM DONE!!

SOTU - 2024
Well, I'm forcing myself to watch the State of the Union while I grade speeches, so I figured I'd record my reactions and thoughts here.
Do I hope for the words "Immediate Ceasefire"? Absolutely. Will we get them? Looking at the track record, probably not. But I remain optimistic because otherwise I'd be six feet under by now; ANYWHO here is a list of my reactions/thoughts/general feelings of the evening's watch.
I do want to give a point of clarity: I technically am identified as a democrat; truly, I'm a socialist, but seeing as how the U.S. is stuck in this godforsaken two-party-system, that is where I am. Though both sides have me feeling very french-revolutionary-esque.
Of course the first thing I see if MTG rifling through her purse on screen. I quite literally despise her.
AP is discussing Ukraine's need for weapons and funding; I would truly rather us align with Ukraine than Isr@el. I will stand unapologetically firm for Palestine and Ukraine.
Who is actually in the cabinet? I know Blinken, Garland, and Buttiegeg. Damn, wish he was running again. Would rather have him than Biden.
How insane is it that the Sec. of Defense didn't even let the White House know that he had to go in for surgery because of cancer. Like, that's just bonkers to me.
Republicans truly look like fucking robots right now. No warm greetings, no hellos, simple nods.
Republicans out here wasting fucking time with that impeachment of Mayorkas. Like how about we house the homeless populations with the money they wasted on this circus.
Oh funky fresh look at the Ultra-Mormon(TM) Mitt Romney.
MTG with that stupid fucking MAGA hat on is just... disgusting. Like this bitch is crazy.
Okay Joe, speed it up down the fucking aisle please. I got papers to grade.
Lowkey Joe looks like he might have had a five-hour energy drink with that big-ole look in his eyes.
I do appreciate that Joe still smiles and is kind to MTG. She truly doesn't deserve it.
Okay this is getting just a wee bit too monarchy for me.
MTG holds up a button saying "Laken Riley..." (couldn't read the rest). Riley was a 14 year old girl murdered by a man who was an illegal immigrant of venezuela, and instead of handling this situation with grace, empathy, and love; MTG and others seem to be capitalizing on her death to push their anti-immigration rhetoric.
Okay, cool selfie skills Joe, but let's get on with it.
ALSO HOW IS JOE BIDEN GONNA BE SO IN DEPTH WITH TECH AND "Savvy" WITH IT WHEN MOTHERFUCKER WANTS TO BAN TIKTOK!? Hello?!
BERNIE AND RAPHAEL! I feel like I haven't seen these guys in 10 million years.
Oh thank god we're starting.
Aww the little hand shake thingy he does with Kamala makes my heart happy.
Did Joe just yell "tony"?!
Wow, even got some republicans clapping for him (probs not a good thing but here we are)
Okay, good bit of humor at the top; and a throwback to the 40s. Funky fresh.
Yeah we ain't living in ordinary times for damn sure.
Interesting point of democracy being attacked here in the U.S. AND Internationally. (Mentions Ukraine and Putin; no word on Gaza yet).
Someone busted out a Ukrainian flag and shook it; rock on.
OH SHIT HE GOT MIKE JOHNSON TO CLAP!
Appreciate the insistance that the U.S. won't send troops to UKR.
Good use of Reagan to connect with the Repubs; and compare to the predecessor (aka Tr*mp).
Mike Johnson nodding instead of clapping about the predecessor comment, trying to save his ass in Orange Man's eyes.
Welcome to NATO, Sweden!
If there is one thing that should connect Democrats and Republicans; it's hatred for Putin. Yet there's a mix of Repubs standing in agreement and sitting to back up the predecessor's comment on Putin doing "whatever the hell he wants"
Talking about Jan 6. What breaks my heart? My parents still believe it wasn't an insurrection. Yikes on Bikes for me.
The line "You can't love your country only when you win" hits hard and even got Mike Johnson to applaud in agreement.
Foreign AND Domestic. Need a hefty focus on that with the right-wing republican group (@ MTG, Gaetz, Cruz, etc.)
Discussing IVF in Alabama; good connection to the overturning of Rowe v. Wade. It sucks that Republicans HAVE THE POWER to protect IVF nationally but shot the damn bill down not even a week ago.
ABORTION IS A HUMAN RIGHT. BODILY AUTONOMY IS A HUMAN. FUCKING. RIGHT. (@ The Missouri Senators who support taking away bodily autonomy).
WOMEN AREN'T WITHOUT ELECTORAL AND POLITICAL POWER; WE ABOUT TO TURN UP IN FORCE MOTHERFUCKERS!!! Bring back the strats from the 1900s; time to use our power and go bonkers.
Someone get Joe a glass of water please. Motherfucker looks a bit parched and keeps coughing. I get that when my throat goes dryyy
Can Biden not restore RvW? Can he not by an executive order make RvW the law of the land already?
Revisiting COVID's start from 2020 (Next week is the four year anniversary since the global pandemic).
PFFT idk who just yelled "LIES" but that was comical AF.
Well, the pandemic still controls a big part of our lives... so...don't agree with that shit.
Man, everyone sitting-and-standing must be getting a HELLA calf work out.
Sure, unemployment is down and new jobs are built; but corporate greed is quite literally killing us. Can Congress or Biden do something, damn it?!
Are we beginning to feel it, though? Are we feeling good economics? I doubt we are.
Good job pointing out how both parties have failed to buy american products, but how this admin has established that.
There's a good two rows of Republicans who stand in applause; but the rest just... sit there. Like robots. It's freaky as fuck.
Joe is actually doing pretty great with the flow of this speech. Only a couple of stumbles, but overall pretty gucci. (He'd get a 9/10 on delivery in my public speaking class).
God these fuckers are really gonna make me run for office at this damn point.
Removing poisonous lead pipes... but there's still a water crisis in Flint, Biden. Like, what the fuckeroni do you mean?
Yes, let's invest in family farms; lets stop selling our farmland (especially in Missouri) to foreign countries (@ China buying up TONS of Missouri Farmland).
I love that the UAW president is here, because he straight up is my kind of people. Dude wears eat-the-rich shirts and calls out the unethical-ness of billionaires.
UAW President pointing to Biden saying "It's you!"; nah dawg, it's you Sean.
MIDDLE CLASS DID BUILD THE COUNTRY AND UNIONS BUILT THE MIDDLE CLASS MOTHER FUCKERS!!!
Yes we get back up but right now...we might be getting more french revolutionary-esque if y'all don't stop PLAYING WITH OUR LIVES.
Oh jesus not the 4-more-years chants.
Oh now we talking about the future
YES PLEASE END TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMIES.
Says he's not anti-corp; but points out how trickle down economics has only helped the wealthy.
Yeah, how the fuck does it hurt the wealthy to pay just a weeee bit more in taxes? Like dawg, what are you gonna do with another million? What's the point?
Ooooh is Biden about to rope the repubs into some bipartisan shit? Please do.
What is Republicans huge issue with capping insulin? Truly? Who does it harm? Billionaires still get billions.

I don't know if anyone needs it, but here's my thought:
Look. I may not be American, and I'm not able to vote yet. BUT! I think this is important:
If you're a bigot, BLOCK ME! If you don't think trans or nonbinary people are real, BLOCK ME! If you are activelly racist, BLOCK ME! If you think women should keep their babies no matter if it affects them (physically AND mentally!), BLOCK ME! If you don't think teens should get basic mental health, BLOCK ME! If you agree with far right views, BLOCK ME!
IF YOU VOTED OR SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR TR*MP, BLOCK ME! BEFORE I DO IT BY MYSELF!
YOUR OPINION WILL NEVER BE WELCOME IN THIS ACCOUNT. NOR IT WILL EVER BE IN THE FUTURE. FUCK YOU IF YOU THINK TAKING AWAY BASIC RIGHTS FROM QUEER/WOMEN/POC/NDS/ETC WILL MAKE A COUNTRY BETTER !!!!!
"Oh but I followed you for the art! Not for the politics!" I DO NOT CARE!
"But you aren't American! It won't affect you" I DO NOT CARE!!!!
I CARE ABOUT THIS because I'm afab, nonbinary, latino AND autistic. I CARE because the US is a great power country and if Tr*mp TRULY wins, soon or later it MIGHT affect my or anyone's countries! AND I CARE, BECAUSE I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THIS; I HAVE FRIENDS WHO MAY BE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS; I HAVE FRIENDS WHO VOTED TO NOT HAVE THEIR RIGHTS TAKEN AWAY!!!
Tumblr media
For everyone who lives in the US right now: Please stay safe. Know that, if you aren't supporting this, it isn't your fault that the voting went through that way. Find something to distract yourself with. Talk with people if it affects you a lot. Do anything in order to improve your mental health, but also speak up so more people can find out about this.
We'll thrive during these hard times, I promise ❤️‍🩹

I'm so fucking tired of white Canadian liberals acting like Canada was a progressive utopia until the mean orange man suddenly brought evil to the country, like, yeah, sure, he may have fanned the flames, but those flames have existed since the inception of colonialism and did not suddenly exist in 2016, and frankly, rather than running around screaming at US leftists to vote blue to save Canada from Tr*mp, you should fucking do something about politics in Canada bc we are on track to elect a fascist PM in addition to all the existing fascist premiers even if the Dems win, like, actual baby understanding of your own domestic politics by reducing it to mean orange man made Canada racist.

I seriously just saw a post encouraging people to write “ceasefire” or things about Palestine on their ballots this year because “well it’s unlikely for anyone else to win, we need to make a statement.”
No. That’s fucking insane. I’m so terrified that people are not going to properly vote this year and we’re gonna end up with someone like Tr*mp in charge because these people are more worried about being fake performative activists. You people are going to cause our country to fall to even greater depths of hell because you care more about sticking it to Israel and hurting Jews than you do about anything else.
You guys hate Israel?? You think their government is corrupt and awful?? Well what the fuck do you think will happen if you forfeit voting to make a statement and we end up with tr*mp or trump 2.0, because “well I had to make statement about Palestine on my ballot” ??? This is insanity.

Hey, fun fact! As a swing state voter whose state went to Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020, I voted Dem in both those elections. But if Biden is the nom in 2024 I will be voting 3rd party, since enabling a genocide should be a red line for anyone with even a shred of morality. If Trump wins because of that, that sucks, but I'm not willing to put my comfort and safety above the right of Palestinians to exist.
So you truly think Tr*mp would be better for Palestine, or any other oppressed peoples on the face of the planet? Genuinely. Is that what you think? Do you have amnesia? Have you suffered a head injury?
You can’t reverse 70 years of diplomacy in just a few weeks. You just can’t. If you think that Joe Biden, a man who lost both his wife and his son, doesn’t personally mourn the genocide happening right now while also being handcuffed by 70 years of American diplomatic policy, then I don’t know what to tell you. And if you Tr*mp gives a flying *fuck* about anything other than flattering his own ego, then once again. I don’t know what to tell you.
For all of you out there saying you’re going to vote 3rd party because of this and if Tr*mp wins “so be it,” do you think he would be a better choice in this situation? He wants to give drug dealers automatic death sentences. He wants to end birthright citizenship. He wants to reinstate his Muslim ban. He wants to put the guy who invented the child separation policy back in charge of ICE. But you think that guy would be doing a better job during a diplomatic and humanitarian crisis? The same guy who let hundreds of thousands of Americans die of covid just because he didn’t want to admit there was a problem?
We have no idea what’s being said behind closed doors. What we do know is that the Israeli government is a further right, more conservative, more anti-Palestinian government than they’ve ever had before. They’ve been itching for an excuse to do this exact thing, and very little short of full-on invasion is going to stop them.
Comparing what’s happening now to any of the bullshit Israel has pulled before doesn’t work, because Israel has never had a government so hell-bent on wiping any memory of Palestine off the face of the planet before.
I get you’re sick and upset and horrified by what’s happening in Palestine, and that you hate our government’s reaction to it. I feel the exact same way. But saying “my own comfort” like the things Tr*mp wants to do with a second term are tra la no big deal is…I’m sorry. It’s naive and childish. He wants to end Democracy as we know it. He wants to become a dictator. Would checks and balances stop him? Mostly, probably, IF Rs aren’t controlling the House and Senate too.
So I mean sit at home or vote 3rd party if that’s what you need to do, but when this country turns to absolute HELL (and I don’t say that lightly) for women, minorities, queer ppl, disabled ppl, poor ppl…at least you’ll sleep well knowing Tr*mp cares about Palestine.
OH wait no he fucking does not.

the fact that she didn’t win the election purely because she’s a woman who happens to be non-white is so disgusting and it makes me so angry.
the fact that so many americans would rather vote a convicted rapist to be president over a qualified woman speaks volumes.
my heart breaks for all the innocent victims who will be impacted by tr*mp’s presidency. they do not deserve the shit that he is going to inevitably put them through. i’m so sorry to each and every one of you. this is unfair and cruel.
i’m not american, so i know that my words don’t count for much, but i am british, and, unfortunately, his presidency does have an effect on my country as well as plenty of other countries. but knowing that our countries have a “special relationship” just sucks and we are influenced by america a lot which is kind of a scary thought.
the next four years are going to be long and difficult, especially for those wonderful people whose rights are, more than likely, going to be stripped away from them. what a cruel, unjust world we live in.
i really thought and hoped that kamala was going to win. i felt really positive about it. but like op said, i didn’t factor in the racism and misogyny she’d face. god forbid a woman becomes president. jesus fucking christ. this is so disappointing and heartbreaking.
my heart stands with anyone and everyone affected by his presidency. you all deserve so much better than this. đź’•
i got too optimistic and forgot kamala harris was dealing with the combined powers of racism and misogyny

black & bipoc trans ppl are not the punching bag to be blamed, they are not the educators, they shouldn’t even be beholden to explain to yall why you suck
i’m not perfect, i’m still learning and occasionally def will be fucking it up as i do. but the echos of community that yt people think they know pale vastly to the way brown & black peoples have been forced to build and maintain their communities and solidarity. idk. the alienation of bipoc community from white queers is a constant thing i notice now. i am not immune, but i am learning that there’s a reason Black queers don’t segregate themselves like white ppl do, and a reason a lot of the bipoc gays don’t want to hang out with us white ppl anymore. i gotta say, listening to the way people have spoken to my girl this week post tr*mp win has really soured my mood for the “queer” community. these white ppl don’t know community from anything. one person literally said that she was “gate keeping being a minority” and yeah…. the black trans woman is totally gatekeeping being on the worst axis of oppression. the older i get, the more disgust and distain i feel for the queers that benefit from and stay upholding white supremacy. it’s a quiet “she’s too loud” moment, and it’s always so subtle bc they know all the correct lingo, the weaponized therapy speech is so twisted. idk
i’m not saying being trans in the USA is an easy thing right now, but god.. white ppl stfu for five minutes with the doomerism about cheeto man and fleeing the country and take five minutes to listen to the BIPOC folks around you, they live this shit everyday, they’ve already built their community bonds and know their fucking neighbors bc the white house doesn’t help them bc it’s just that, White.

I’m not trying to be rude; I find a lot of stuff on your blog pretty interesting. However, The Apprentice has low presence because of what the movie is about. Did we forget how polarizing of a figure Donald Trump is…? His supporters won’t watch a film that paints him negatively, and those who hate him won’t want to sit and watch a film about him when they’re already so fucking tired of him. Most people who saw it are fans of Seb and/or Jeremy Strong, or they’re cinephiles interested in the direction of the piece. Not to mention they had to rack up promotion in a short period of time. They didn’t even have Sebastian and Jeremy in real and multiple press interviews together until the film’s release week. This film was set to fail from the start before it filmed, and even more when they were struggling to find a distributor.
If I understood your words correctly, then I would like to say that the idea that promotion doesn’t help a film is very misguided. People are not wrongfully criticizing A24; this isn’t the first film they’ve picked up rights to and then barely cared to promote or even produce sometimes. Queer releases in a month and doesn’t have a trailer out. They’ve picked up multiple films and then leave it at the pre-production stage and never return to it. They pick and choose what films they want to promote—yes, they will lean towards what they think will sell, I don’t disagree on that front—but A Different Man was a phenomenal movie that could have the popularity of The Substance (which is not as good as ADM imo) had A24 given it the proper light of day and didn’t only centralize itself on We Live in Time and Babygirl. It also looks extremely ableist on their part because the trailer was posted *once*, they barely posted anything about the movie afterward, and it looks ridiculous for them when Seb is winning all of these awards for his performance in a film that the distributor and producer doesn’t even care about. They took the film’s name out of their bio not even a week after it was released and only put it back because they didn’t want to face the backlash. The UK distributor has posted the film so many times and it has done better in the UK than the states.
While it was not set to be #1 at the box office, A24 could have given it more attention and it would’ve done better numbers. The Apprentice is also doing way better than A Different Man, and its promotion does indeed factor into that. The Apprentice’s main figure is the reason it’s sinking.
You are not rude at all. I agree about Tr*mp being a figure who would make people choose not to watch the film, especially at the cinema in the USA, especially.
(And it seems like a film they might think it's propaganda because they do not inform and refuse to watch interviews.)
But honestly, most people who go to the cinema want to watch something to get out of the real world (either artsy films or something random, superheroes etc)
I am not saying A24 is not to blame at all (because it is), but ADM was not bought in many countries. I can tak from my experience, too. In Romania it was nowhere at all.
And that's because, as I explained, the costs are ⬆️ and people are not prepared to watch different people on screen. They feel uncomfortable. Especially if there are not actors they feel comfortable with.
Sebastian is popular but he is not Demi Moore. His audience is particular. Also WLIT is a romantic drama. And it has andrew and florence, both very popular with different audiences that come to watch. Of course it's gonna be popular. With or without promotion.
For films that have barely any audience they won't invest in more promotion because it's all about money. Especially for studios like A24.
That's all studios care about in general... and the names sell.

when people say that voting for a democrat as harm reduction is “only harm reduction for those in america” and only “harm reduction for the privileged in america” as if it’s not the most vulnerable americans that republicans are coming for first AND as if tr**mp wouldn’t allow netanyahu to commit worse crimes in palestine ? like as much as bidens administration has been supporting netanyahu, JD vance literally was like “we need to help them finish the job” meanwhile biden actually considered halting weapons shipments (which is not even remotely enough! he’s still a guy who is committing genocide! and yet! you can see from right wing israelis saying that Biden doesn’t support israel enough that they know there is a difference even if biden is an insane zionist by any normal standards). and then domestically when people are like “it would only be harm reduction for privileged americans” and it’s just like. yes the 15-20 million people that Trump wants to deport are so privileged!!! like yes whatever democrat might get elected would surely be deporting undocumented immigrants as well but democrats tend to focus on deporting people with criminal histories and recent arrivals while trump just wants to deport as many undocumented people as possible bc they’re what. “tainting american blood” or some bullshit? and it would be easier for trump to accomplish this goal with a supreme court that’s on his side. And then there’s the issue of climate change which we know affects the most vulnerable first both within the U.S. and the world so the project 2025 goals of destroying NOAA and the EPA and deregulating everything etc etc are going to have knock on effects the world over that hit the most marginalized first/hardest! which isn’t to say that Kamala is some sort of climate hero but at least shes not likely to destroy environmental regulatory infrastructure and unlike biden she’s opposed to fracking. and none of this means that there aren’t many many privileged people who support democrats /votebluenomatterwho🙄 BECAUSE it allows them to maintain their privilege and the status quo etc…. and it just feels too late for a third party candidate to be viable especially given that people advocating voting third party can’t agree on WHICH third party candidate we should all vote for. like i just think for a third party candidate to win there would have to be a huge groundswell of support for one candidate and i don’t see that happening right now bc people are split with stein, williamson, west, the PSL ticket that i can’t remember the names of and even fucking RFK jr. Also somewhat unrelated but i was watching a documentary the other day about the sapphic women involved in the irish revolution and they were all leftist feminist socialists etc who envisioned a free Ireland as an egalitarian socialist society and that’s what they fought for but ultimately the anti-treaty side of the irish civil war was defeated and the subsequent irish free state set up by the treatyists that won was a strongly conservative Catholic society. which is to say that as noble as they were and as right as they were to have revolted against the british, revolutions don’t always end the way you want them to. Anyway. i think people need to understand that the ways democrats and republicans are the same (they don’t care about you, they ultimately serve capitalism, imperialism, white supremacy etc) doesn’t mean that there aren’t material differences in how they would govern that can and will make the difference in how much marginalized people suffer in this country and the world. if they’re going to suffer either way, i think i would choose less suffering over more.

i can remember 2016 plain as day. i was graduating my sixth grade that year and we were all arguing over who would win the election and i was convinced itd be hillary.
i remember that summer holidays, going home and crying to my dad and asking him what living through a war would be like because my 11 year old brain thoughts thats what this meant.
and then 2020, tenth grade, we were all watching the election live during class and we all cheered when biden won, but i was thinking yeah. okay. now that its not a woman, they give the democrats another chance.
and now its 2024. im 19, i graduated high school 2 years ago and im crying for so many more reasons than i did 8 years ago. im crying because 71 million people hate women enough that they voted in a nonsensical, confused, decrepit, predatory, bigoted fucking fossil who is NOT capable of running a country. that women and children are not safe. trans people are not safe. gay people are not safe. im crying because i was scared of living through a war when i was 11, and now i understand that there are people living through war now and our governments are not just standing by and letting it happen, but actively aiding the oppressors. im crying because tr*mp said ON CAMERA, one of the few coherent sentences he could get out, that if you vote for him this time you will never. have to vote again.
fuck, u.s.a. you shouldn't just be embarassed. you should be ashamed. and you should be terrified. because ive followed the u.s elections this closely since i was old enough to understand what's going on and i live in australia.
this affects everybody. everybody in the world. and for some reason, when it comes to the u.s, australia sees, australia does. but i can fucking promise you, that i will fight harder than anyone to stop my country from following suit.
right, so he won.
we tend to be cynical and laugh him off, but it’s so painfully clear and scary how this ignorant fucking narcissist cosplaying as the poor man's idea of a wealthy man could become president of the united states—not once, but twice.
a man who seems barely literate, whose statements have been nothing but blatant, poorly constructed lies, yet he’s secured power. again. and while i can’t fully predict the implications, i know they don’t look good.
i fear for american citizens trapped in a dystopian neoliberal state where food is made of plastic and a lack of money can cost you your life on a hospital gurney.
i fear for europe, also scarred by fascism and blindly following the united states. every week for the past year, our prime ministers have appeared on television, warning us to prepare to defend our values in coming wars, most, if not all of which, are initiated by the u.s.
i fear for the palestinian people, undergoing a fucking genocide at the hands of israel—a state powered by the immense machinery of the american arms industry. if the u.s. withdrew its support, israel would be forced to stop. they're nothing. a flimsy geopolitical construct fuelled by pure evil. but like israel, the united states is a settler colony, built on the displacement, massacre, and erasure of the people who originally lived there. they both justify their actions as a divine mission for the land they claim was promised by god. imperialistic bullshit.
i fear that palestinians have lost their last glimmer of hope and the faint promise of a two-state solution that even kamala harris claimed to defend. flawed and half-hearted as it was, it at least held the possibility of a ceasefire.
i fear for trans and racialized people in the united states, who have become primary targets of brutal, baseless hate speech, a rhetoric now normalized among more than half the american electorate.
i’m not going to take the easy route—the classist one—and say that a bunch of uneducated rednecks voted for another uneducated redneck.
truth is, we’re living in unsafe times, and that fear makes us vulnerable to hoaxes, propaganda, and manipulation. education was supposed to be the antidote—the tool to help us see when politicians are lying, when a vulnerable group is scapegoated for society’s problems. and yet, here we are, repeating history. it’s been less than a century since world war II, and a fascist has been voted into power.
i don’t know why i felt the need to go off on this tangent, but this issue is global, and it’s genuinely terrifying. i don’t trust our politicians. it feels like being abandoned by a parent—the state, which is supposed to protect us, leaving us to fend for ourselves. we've seen that with hurricane milton, with the floods in valencia.
many of us have never had to experience extreme poverty or coexist with death, so it’s easy and fun to live blissfully unaware. but we’d better hope it stays that way. and i also hope that instead of letting our fear turn into paralyzing anxiety, we can make the effort of turning it into determined, militant anger.
and yeah… that’s about it, i think. there’s a lot i haven’t mentioned, a lot of people, a lot of rights lost today. but i haven’t slept. i’m really tired. gonna sleep bye.

To those of you who want to keep up to date but don’t want to deal with the news or be inflicted with perceiving Tr*mp: I hear you, and I’ve transcribed his pathetic insurrection equivalent of a non-apology, complete with my ranting lmao.
Tr*mp: I know your pain. I know your hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us, it was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side...
Okay so the exact same bullshit as always. Starts out not with condemning the violence but with validating its root. Clearly designed to make these people feel validated and like he wants them to stay but can’t say that bc of ~sjw libtards~ or whatever
Trump: ...but you have to go home, now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order, we have to respect our great [long pause] people in law and order.
He sounds SO fucking reluctant to say this oh my GOD he sounds like Natasha Romanov going “hey big guy, sun’s getting real low”
Trump: I don’t want anybody hurt. It’s a very tough period of time. There’s never been a time like this, where such a thing happened, where they could take it away from all of us: from me, from you, from our country.
Actually, if you’ll recall the 2016 election, there have been times IN RECENT MEMORY where the election was stolen from the American people by the system. But that worked out in his favor, so it was fine. Of course, when that happened, everyone was constantly talking about the importance of respecting the election results to maintain democracy. Lmao. Also “me (Trump), you (Trump cult), America” is about the order in which he considers all his actions
Trump: This was a fraudulent election, but we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace.
Oh my GOD?? Does he seriously think what the people he’s othering WANT is for the trumpers to try to overturn the election we fought so hard to win?? Or is it the violence in the streets we’re meant to be desiring??? FUCK him. And obviously he knows what the fuck he’s doing but the people he’s lying to are too fucking stupid and ignorant to know better.
Trump: So go home, we love you, you’re very special...
oh my fucking GOD this fucker is literally out here instead of condemning the people who PLANTED A FUCKING BOMB IN THE CAPITAL AND ATTEMPTED TO OVERTURN AMERICAN DEMOCRACY he just. Oh my GOD who’s “we”??????? Who the FUCK is “we” it’s NOT Americans!!!!!!!
Trump: ...you’ve seen what happens, you’ve seen the way others are treated that are so bad and evil.
Okay I’m. It’s so hard to tell who he is vagueing here. Is it the protesters from last summer?? Is that fucking it??? Because we all SEE the disparity in how quickly you mobilized the national guard to put a stop to anti-racism vs. anti-fascism. You indescribable fucking twat. Or is this a threat?? Like “you’ve seen how I treat the people I DON’T love” or whatever? Also lmao if these people aren’t bad people who the fuck are in this situation. Is he acting like the dems or just non-GOP have been treated SO well
Trump: I know how you feel, but go home, and go home in peace.
Literally go to fucking hell. This was the legislative coup equivalent of an “I’m sorry you were hurt” non-apology. This wanker is such a coward he can’t even have the spine to actually admit he’s staging a coup while doing everything in his power to undermine the democracy that made the mistake of giving him that power
