Give me your headcanons about Kenma please?
here they are !!!! :3
Songs on his iPod: i think kenma really, really likes OST's mixed in with some mindless pop that can go on repeat in the background when he games alone.
Pokemon Sword and Shield OST - Gym Leader Battle All Time Low - Jon Bellion Amusement Park - Nier:Automata OST
The one place they fall asleep – where they’re not supposed to: ooooh kenma definitely has a terrible habit of doing this as a general quirk of his. IF and only IF there are people he is safe and comfortable around (you, his team, family, hinata) he won't have ANY qualms about snoozing for a second if there's a moment that calls for it. most chaotic moment was during his own hospital visit. he'd hosted a 48-hour livestream and passed the hell out because of course he also didnt eat properly during. the doctor popped out for a moment to check something from a chart, and when he came back, kenma was asleep. it worried the doctor to no end for a second, before he realized the cat-like barely-adult-adult was simply snoozing. you and kuroo apologizes profusely, but the doctor chalks it down to the weird thing he was doing online before he came. assigns rest as medication.
The game they’d destroy everyone else at: there's no doubt that kenma's a class A gamer in every game to exist. the most infuriating one - the one that kuroo HATES that he always wins - is ludo. its a game that runs on pure chance half the time, yet kenma's never lost a single game, not to you or anyone else. hinata's little sister came close one time, though. that made kenma's brow sweat a little.
The emoticon they’d use most often: 👍. its easy during streams, its easy if hes sleepy, its easy if hes busy. it confirms whatever people want from him in a second.
What they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep: practically non-verbal. eyes squinted and barely able to do things required of him. he gropes and grabs at random stuff in his cabinet or fridge to find something edible and his phone is all up in his face. you mostly talk aloud to yourself during those times.
Their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights or mornings: kenma doesn't advertise it a lot, but he loves a good, warm bubble tea with tapioca. it has to be a black tea or he isn't having it.
How they like to comfort/care for themselves in a slump: kenma calls kuroo. slumps are his arch nemesis, the boss battle he cannot handle alone. so back up and support characters are needed.
What they wanted to be when they grew up: im pretty sure kenma achieved exactly what he dreamt of: freedom to play his beloved video games in the capacity that he does.
Their favorite kind of weather: overcast, but not humid or rainy. it's a perfectly acceptable day to stay indoors.
Thoughts on their singing voice: i think kenma is a very nice tenor, but he doesnt have the confidence or skills to really sing from his stomach, so it comes out shallow and off.
How/what they like to draw or doodle: he likes to doodle weapons from his games. the master sword from legend of zelda, cloud's buster sword, and the keyblades from kingdom hearts. it's all a cute, non-detailed chibi style tho, only marking what makes the sword stand out. mostly, hes the only one who can name them all if hes sitting thru a long enough meeting to draw multiple.
send me a character and ill fill out these headcanons
#thank u for sending in dira !!!!!! <3333#haikyuu fluff#haikyuu headcanons#kozume kenma headcanons#kozume kenma fluff#on another note i just realized i have to go to the doctor tomorrow morning LMAAAAAO so ill fill a few more out and then the rest tomorrow#nohr.headcanons#nohr.writing#nohr.talks#lovenote: dira 🥰✨

Hashiras as Pokémon Gym Leaders!
what better first post than combining two of my greatest loves together? i felt that giving the hashiras 1 type to work with would be too cliché, so i gave them a second one that would work with them as well! maybe i spent too much time putting together their parties...but ultimately it was worth it. i really enjoyed writing for them, and i want to hear how you feel about them being gym leaders in a pokémon game! (i'd never stop replaying that version if it were real...)
Kyojuro Rengoku - fire, obviously; steel, less obviously ❥ so obviously, he would be a fire gym leader, right? probably chose a Charmander as his starter years ago and never strayed from the cute fire-breathing baby since they were the same. the rengoku's probably raise all the fire starters as a family tradition anyways ❥ he's got a lot of other pokémon that he adores, but he always gravitates towards the ones that can benefit from his training and vice versa ❥ his full party: Litleo, Fletchinder, Magmortar, Arcanine, Chandelure, Charizard ❥ kyojuro is 100% a steel type gym in disguise. his personality says it all. his determination, his drive, everything he stands for is as unbendable and unwavering as steel. (let's not get started about his body...) ❥ yeah, yeah, steel is super weak to fire, but in kyojuro's case? they make each other stronger in any other way that they can. they solidify wishes and goals and go for it ❥ his full party: Mawile, Klefki, Metagross, Corviknight, Steelix, Aegislash
Giyu Tomioka - water, obviously; ghost, less obviously ❥ as a water hashira, he'd be a water type gym leader. he chose little Oshawott as his starter and loves him greatly, they're quite literally inseparable. ❥ giyu doesn't pay much attention to his pokémon nor does he go out with the intention of training and capturing more, but this one bidoof has been by his side...even after it evolved into a bibarel... ❥ his full party: Shellder, Seadra, Sharpedo, Wailord, Walrein, Samurott ❥ he's distant and cold sometimes, but he ultimately means well, or at least he tries to convey that. people like him, right? shinobu is just teasing him any chance she gets, right? ❥ did i say sometimes? his ghost pokémon rat his real emotions out to people if he isn't watching, they just want the best for him! ❥ his full party: Corsola, Mimikyu, Gengar, Dragapult, Mismagius, Froslass
Obanai Iguro - poison, obviously; ground, less obviously ❥ kaburamaru picked his starter when he was younger, sobble. though throughout obanai's teen years, he trained closely with a bulbasaur instead. ❥ obanai likes to pretend that he doesn't care what happens to his companions, but the second the battle is over, he's hovering over each pokémon, ensuring that each feels cared for. ❥ his full party: Skrelp, Croagunk, Arbok, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Venusaur ❥ obanai is a hardened soul but is still a softy after you get past kaburamaru and his own tough, rough skin. hold him gently and he'll melt without realising, like eroding ground. ❥ he gets mad when he does find out that his pokemon have been meddling in his life, though, so be careful! he's not easy to win back at alI. ❥ his full party: Drilbur, Krokorok, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Sandaconda, Garchomp
Sanemi Shinazugawa - flying, obviously; fighting, less obviously ❥ sanemi is pretty reserved when it comes to his pokémon, but there's no denying that he has a soft spot for the bird species. he trained with a grass/flying type starter but later realised it was no longer flying. ❥ his pokémon may be free-spirited from time to time, but whenever he calls for them, they're by his side within seconds. his pokémon automatically give him tailwind whether he needs it or not. ❥ his full party: Rookidee, Drifloon, Gliscor, Archeops, Toucannon, Decidueye ❥ he isn't so much as a "go with the flow" guy as much as he just appreciates the ebb and flow of the air currents and he expects the same of his winged companions. ❥ he enjoys the rush of the wind, whether it's on the back of his pokémon or he's running right alongside them, though he loves the confrontation on the ground and will never pass a one-on-one fight ❥ his full party: Hawlucha, Kommo-o, Bewear, Scrafty, Machamp, Decidueye
Tengen Uzui - psychic, obviously; dark, less obviously ❥ his exceptional hearing doesn't discriminate when it comes to pokemon that he's raising. the louder, the better, he says...to everyone, though his wives would disagree... ❥ in another life he could've been a conductor but he wouldn't trade his life for another anyways. between him and his wives, he's got enough to deal with ❥ his full party: Bruxish, Gothita, Malamar, Rapidash, Alakazam, Delphox ❥ alongside his wives and him was a lone froakie, which later became his own cherished pokémon, as well as his wives' ❥ tengen may be very good at distinguishing sounds, but he lets his pokémon make as much white noise as want, even if he needs to concentrate on a mission ❥ his full party: Absol, Deino, Grimmsnarl, Honchkrow, Malamar, Greninja
Mitsuri Kanroji - fairy, obviously; dragon, less obviously ❥ she starts every battle by sending out her pokémon with a kiss. it's fitting that every pokemon she has is in a love ball since she's the love hashira. ❥ her pokemon are as graceful and tough as she is, both in appearance and battle. she's always making treats for every one of them, and especially herself! ❥ her full party: Togetic, Kirlia, Hatterene, Grimmsnarl, Alcremie, Altaria ❥ she’s one of two women who’ve become hashira, so she must be strong, right? in another life she could’ve been a ballerina of sorts, or any other profession that let her express her strength equally to her beauty. in this one, it means she harbors dragon types under her wing. ❥ don’t underestimate mitsuri and her cute stature or you’ll be sorry. she may be looking to marry, but you’ve got to show you love her dragons as much as she does… ❥ her full party: Dreepy, Dragonair, Goodra, Salamence, Garchomp, Altaria
Shinobu Kocho - bug, obviously; ice, less obviously ❥ her butterfly attire gives her typing away just like the original gym leaders. it’s only fitting that the butterfly mansion is home to bug types as well as the injured. ❥ she’d never admit that her favorite is her butterfree, but there’s a reason her haori matches the wing patterns near perfectly. confront her about it and you’ll likely be poisoned one way or another ❥ her full party: Skorupi, Whirlipede, Accelgor, Butterfree, Yanmega, Frosmoth ❥ have you seen the look in her eyes? or heard the way she talks to Giyu? she can be cold when she needs to (or wants to) so it only makes sense that the chilly Pokémon have flocked around her ❥ if you let her warm up to you she might show you some tricks her ice types have picked up, like how to beat rengoku’s fire types or how to make nifty potions for battle ❥ her full party: Sneasel, Lapras, Ninetales, Dewgong, Avalugg, Frosmoth
Gyomei Himejima - rock, obviously; grass, less obviously ❥ as the stone hashira, he has strong connection with rock types that are resilient as he is. they love joining him during training sessions and will often practice when he is ❥ his party's defense is so high, you'll likely have to whittle them down little by little. you'll be lucky to take a chip out of them before they trap you in a tomb ❥ his full party: Rockruff, Lairon, Bastiodon, Tyrantrum, Omastar, Cradily ❥ the rock types he works with are tough and hardened, but the grass types he works with a flowy and flexible. they may look super tough on the outside, but they're soft on the inside ❥ his grass types love practicing with him, especially when he's water training. show up with a water type of any kind and they'll show you who's boss ❥ his full party: Gossifleur, Skiddo, Ferrothorn, Shiftry, Torterra, Cradily
Muichiro Tokito - normal, obviously; electric, less obviously ❥ his aloofness definitely takes a part in what Pokémon stay by him throughout his journey. normal types are unaffected by his amnesiac tendencies and care for him all the same. ❥ he might forget who is in his lineup, but he’ll always put on a worthy battle even if it takes him until halfway through to realize he might lose. don’t let him remember there’s a badge on the line and he might spare your party of Pokémon… ❥ his full party: Spinda, Minccino, Wigglytuff, Snorlax, Slaking, Heliolisk ❥ the blankness in his eyes can be fierce like a storm. if you get on his nerves, he might just lash out with everything he's got. you won't want to get caught in the spark. ❥ while his party is sparky and electrifying, he can still be pretty absent-minded and forget to pay attention to them. they remind him with a little spark and sometimes you'll even see him play with them. ❥ his full party: Pincurchin, Magnemite, Toxtricity, Ampharos, Electrode, Heliolisk

Renfield prompt: how did renfield feel/ react to having his own place for the first time in almost a decade? What was the feeling/process of nesting until it felt like home and safety and hope?
I was going to say "I've written a lot about this" but wow aside from the one where he takes a shower and has Emotions about it, I actually haven't dug in to this subject... And then I wrote something barely related to the prompt orz
-
"I, uh. I moved out."
Renfield doesn't tell the whole group right away. But he has to tell someone. It's exciting, and terrifying. Everything lately is exciting and terrifying, really. He opened up more about his 'boss' and everyone encouraged him to focus on himself. To 'grow to full power.'
He tells Mark after most of the group has left. Mark stays behind to tidy away the folding chairs and pack up the unborrowed books. Mark startles when he turns to see Renfield standing there, not quite as hunched over as he had been in the months past.
"You moved out?" Mark repeats, a little confused. Renfield nods, then moves his hands to help Mark with the box of books and as he takes the box he says "out of my boss's place. I'm- I mean, I was, I was a sort of live-in serv- service, aid, um, assistant, but not any more!" He grins nervously, but expectantly.
With his hands free, Mark claps. "Well alright Renfield! Look at you, out on your own!" Renfield feels suddenly shy and ducks his head, greasy hair falling in front of his pale face. Mark gives him a comforting shoulder pat, then gently motions for the door of the gym. Renfield dutifully walks alongside the group leader.
"So, how is the place you moved into?"
"It's really nice. Small, I guess, but it's better than where I had been." He smiled. "I spent the whole of yesterday cleaning it. Can't remember the last time I got to do something like that for myself."
Mark smiles softly. Renfield had started coming to the DRAAG meetings months ago, and barely spoke until just recently. It was hard to discern just what sort of relationship he had been in, but judging by the facts (Renfield always came in wearing the same hastily mended clothes, he smelled like a high school science class on pig dissection week, he looked like he had spent most of his life indoors, and he was always highly aware of his surrounding), Mark assumed it had not the sort of relationship he frequently saw in his group attendants.
Outside, Mark unlatches the trunk of his car and Renfield sets the box inside. Mark shuts the trunk and sees Renfield looking around, nervous, as though anticipating his newfound joy might come crashing down.
"Hey," Mark says, and Renfield glances at him. "You know what you should do? You should paint your new place. Check with your landlord first, of course, and if he says 'yes'- Really make it yours, y'know?"
"That- I never thought of that."
Mark spreads his hands. "So, what colour -or colours!- will you go for? What colour says 'this is Renfield'?"
Renfield picks at his cuticles and looks at his shoes. Despite being so tall, he looks small, now.
"I really never have had a chance to think about these things, Mark."
Mark hmms in thought and leans against his car. "Okay, well, what would be the polar opposite of your boss?"
"Bright," Renfield says immediately. "Cheery. Hopeful. Warm. Friendly." He makes a little choking laugh sound. "Modern."
Mark nods. "So go with that! Surround yourself in the opposite of what you've been dealing with."
Mark helps Renfield navigate his new phone (a refurbished old model, but to Renfield it is the pinnacle of technology) to find a local home goods store. Then, realising the time, Mark and Renfield say their goodbyes. But-
Mark says, "you'll tell us all about it at next week's meeting, right?"
Renfield smiles.
"Of course."

the uncanny and dare i even say Liminal(TM) nature inherent to pokemon XY. your home town is quite literally the size of three (3) houses with very little space between any of them. the first route of the game is a Straight Road walled off from the rest of the world with a unique music track that never even gets a chance to loop because the road is so short you're already in the next town before it finishes. a New Town, not the main area of the town whose suburb you live in, an entirely separate place with its own places and people you don't belong to. there are always more chairs available than people to use them. a trainer's school takes up a significant space in the town its in, standing out from every other building, yet has nothing to offer but a couple x items. the region is all over a sport called rhyhorn racing yet it's nothing but subtext that's never explored in greater detail unlike contests and musicals. sky trainers' existence feels like similar subtext that offers nothing but battles you can bring a very limited roster of pokemon to. trainers do not exist in battles after their artwork greets you at the beginning; it's just you against a pokemon commanded by Something beyond your eyes. your starters cannot mega evolve so you're given a different set to choose from to fill the niche. places like shabboneau castle seem to have some kind of relevance until you visit them and find nothing of worth. half of the national dex if not more has been stuffed into the game, giving players variety but stripping the region of an identity in the same breath. biodiversity has been included to fill a quota, once again creating variety but ultimately leaving sections of the region wildly disconnected from the rest. gym leaders for the most part exist in their own vacuums much like in gens 1-3, their relevance gone after you've obtained their badges
i think kalos is kind of haunted actually. like they tore it out too early so it came out wrong. it looks back at you with its hollow eyes and grips your hand and doesn't let go, it can't let go, you can't let go, and you see the cracks forming on its surface as you're unable to tear your eyes away from it anymore
#soda offers you a can#idk. the beginning of these games is so fucked up and weird#i got the same feeling i had after i played 06 and came up with a playtester report of the shop system#this isn't finished. this can't be finished it has to be a late beta they put a coat of paint over

[A video marked 2/2 is attached.
"Hah! Don't think we're giving up now! Come on out, Scorch! INCINERATE!"
The Pansear comes out of the Pokéball roaring, and hits Peridot with a devastating super-effective move, but the Snivy just manages to stay standing.
"Peridot, try Tackle again!"
He gets the Tackle in, but just from a glance it's clear it won't be enough. Before Aventurine can do anything else, another Incinerate hits Peridot, and the little Grass-type faints.
"No more Pokémon? That's unfortunate, better luck next time! Maybe catch another one to help out!" Chili says, but Aventurine doesn't seem to be listening.
He's mumbling to himself, the words just audible, "I... lost. I lost." Strangely, he doesn't seem sad. Then, in a sudden moment of urgency, he pulls a coin out of his pocket, whispers "Heads," then flips it.
It lands heads. Aventurine chuckles, maybe a little desperately, then says, "That's fine, that's normal. It's a 50% chance. Heads again." He flips the coin.
Heads. He flips it again. Heads, heads, heads.
By now, the gym leaders have started looking a little concerned. "Please. Maybe- maybe it's weighted. Tails." He flips it one more time, and it lands tails.
There's a moment of silence, then Aventurine pockets the coin again and he walks away from the battlefield. He starts laughing, but at some point it starts to sound more like crying. Behind the phone, a voice whispers, "Mr Aventurine doesn't seem okay... should we go down and check on him?"
The video ends.]

[A video is attached. It shows Maria leaning on the side of a building, arms crossed, honestly looking rather bored. Fortunately, she doesn't have to wait for long—her head snaps over to look at a boy with spiky hair, approaching casually in a way that might be best described as sauntering.
Maria is undeterred by his informality, though she looks far more out of place in Viridian City than he does. "Leader Blue?"
"Huh? Yeah, that's me." Blue, hands stuck in his pockets, makes a show of looking her up and down. "Who are you?"
"My name is M—"
He snaps his fingers. "Riiiight, you're the one Lance mentioned. Mary, right?"
"Maria."
"Eh, I was close enough." Blue waves a hand dismissively. "You've gotta be decent if you beat Lance, but you're not the only one who's beaten him. Doubt you could beat Red."
"Perhaps not," Maria allows, "but I'm certain that Lance informed you of the need for discretion where that particular matter was concerned?"
"He told me to keep my mouth shut 'bout you being the new champ," Blue says evenly. "Didn't tell me a word about why. So? Why should I keep my mouth shut? What's going on that no one thinks I'm enough of a gym leader to know?"
"...Lance did not inform any of the Kanto leaders of the reason why," Maria says, "because he had reason to suspect that official League communications were being watched. I would have informed you personally far sooner had I reached Viridian City any sooner, and had you been present when I first did so."
"Oh." Blue scowls, though he at least has the decency to look a little sheepish... or would it be mareepish? "Yeah, I was busy. I'd say sorry, but I'm not, and also I'm still here way more often than Giovanni ever was."
Maria visibly stiffens. "The previous leader here was named Giovanni? I don't suppose—"
"Yeah, that Giovanni. I'd have to try to do a shittier job than the guy who ran Team Rocket."
"Runs," Maria says. "Present-tense."
Blue gives her a look like he's a minimum-wage worker in fast food less than an hour before closing time who has just been informed that a big order is imminent.
"You're shitting me," he says. "I heard about the mess in Johto, but they said on the news that was his underlings. Not..."
"It was," Maria replies. "I'd rather discuss further details in private, but if you happen to know anything—"
"I might," Blue says. "But I want a battle first. Gym's about to open. If you can't beat me, you won't stand a chance against Giovanni."
"Very well," Maria says. "I assume you'd like me to come in as a normal challenger?"
"Yeah." He pauses. "Actually—tell you what. I'm in the mood to test out some new strats. How confident are ya feeling?"
Maria certainly looks confident when the video ends.]

Hello! If your requests are open for Pokemon Sword and Shield, could you please write something about Leon and Gordie with a librarian s/o? Maybe the reader works as Sonia's assistant with bringing her sources on the Darkest Day and everything. Bonus points if something super cliche happens like the reader's standing on a stool to stock a high shelf and the stool wobbles and one of them catches her before she falls. Thanks so so much, I hope you have a great rest of your week!
Can do and thank you. I hope you have a great rest of your week too.
Click Read More for Gordie since Leon's is super long
💜Leon💜
Leon was visiting Sonia on one of the few days off he has from being the champion, but couldn't find her anywhere.
"Sonia!?!?"
"She's out getting lunch, Leon!" you shout from the balcony then go back to organizing the books that Sonia left out and didn't put back
He heads up to talk to you instead
He sees you on one of those step ladders trying to put a book back on a high shelf
You start to feel yourself fall backward and expect to hit the floor, but all you feel are a pair of muscular arms
You open your eyes only to meet Leon's face inches away from yours and you both blush
"Thanks, Leon"
"You're welcome. So what are you doing?" he asks as he puts you down
"Oh. I am just putting some books back that Sonia left out. I have organized the books by subject then I organized them alphabetically."
He nods and starts to help you out despite your protests
But he helps out anyways because he's your boyfriend and he wants to help
Despite you two being in a relationship, not a lot of people know
Except for his mom and your parents
Sonia comes back from lunch with Hop trailing behind her and they see you two kissing
Sonia ends up giving Hop 10 dollars
Then you and Leon see them
"Oh umm. Hey there. Sonia, I put some books about the darkest day on your desk, and ugh yeah."
🤍Gordie🤍
You work at the local library in Circhester
Despite being the towns gym leader, Gordie makes sure to visit you anytime he gets a chance
He ended up getting a library card because of you and how many books you recommend to him on a weekly basis. Especially when the library gets new books
The library staff loves you two together as long as he doesn't distract you from your work
You ended up accidentally bumping the book cart into him since you didn't know he was visiting today
Some books ended up falling off of the cart and onto the floor
"I am so sorry sir"
You hear his deep chuckle
"Gordie I didn't know you were visiting today."
"I wanted to surprise you. I don't have any battles today, so why not?"
"Thanks."
You bend down to pick up the fallen books and Gordie does the same
You and Gordie end up reaching for the same book and end up touching hands
This causes Gordie to blush and the blush reaches the tip of his ears
He puts his shades over his eyes as if that is going to hide his red face
You laugh
"You look so cute when you blush, Gord."
You kiss his cheek and you two finish picking up the books
You two just walk and talk as you finish putting the books away
He finally checks out one of your book recommendations
It's on Pokémon eggs and how to take care of them

i have some Thoughts about grusha and arven meeting (and eventually becoming friends) that i just need to get out
i hc that arven becomes an apprentice of kofu's and learns a great deal about cooking from the acclaimed chef
after getting to know more about arven - what he's been through, his positive attitude, the hope he possesses with respect to the future despite all the setbacks he's faced at such a young age - kofu suggests arven meet an acquaintance of his (who, kofu thinks, might really benefit from having a friend like arven)
he sends the young, aspiring chef to the chilly heights of glaseado mountain in search of some rare ingredients only found there, instructing arven to stop by the local gym and deliver a homecooked treat to its leader, grusha
arven doesn't know what kind of person will be running the gym on top of a mountain, but he definitely doesn't expect to meet an incredibly beautiful young man who accepts the package and then immediately begins to scold arven for climbing up a snow-covered mountain without any gloves, scarf, or hat to shield him from the weather
("you need to be more careful in a place like this," he says. "it's unforgiving. can take away everything from you in an instant..." his voice is as far away as the look in his eyes when he says that)
grusha invites arven over for tea so that kofu's foolish apprentice can at least warm up a little before heading on his way, and arven makes a well-intentioned comment about how he likes the minimalistic style in grusha's house, to which grusha snorts and offers a hollow "thanks" in response
(grusha doesn't tell him about the framed photos of him beaming with his snow goggles and snowboard in hand that used to adorn the now bare walls, the trophies from his numerous victories on the slopes that now collect dust deep in the closets, his first ever snowboard that used to take center stage above his couch in the living room... none of that belonged here anymore)
they make small talk over tea, even finding common ground when arven mentions his best buddy, the young champion who grusha recalls battling
arven, who has been on this journey of finding himself and going down this path that he's chosen for himself, asks grusha a question similar to the one he's been asking most people he meets these days:
"what made you want to become a gym leader ?"
grusha's brows knit together, and he merely says that he "had no choice"
arven, confused, asks why he had no choice, but grusha only shrugs half-heartedly in response
arven, again well-intentioned but horribly misplaced, tries to reassure grusha by saying that, hey, you don't have to be a gym leader if you don't want to ! you can become whatever or whoever you want ! sometimes it feels like you're stuck with the bad hand you've been dealt, but it doesn't have to be that way ! the world is your cloyster and all that, y'know !
without warning, grusha's unfocused eyes sharpen into a frigid glare that he fixes on arven, stunning the latter into silence, and before arven even has a chance to offer some sort of apology (was it something he said ?), grusha is standing up quickly (wincing almost imperceptibly) and excusing himself for he has "gym duties" to attend to, his tone turning bitter and even colder as he spits out that last bit
his entire encounter with grusha plays on loop in his mind as arven gathers the ingredients for kofu and makes his slow trip back down the mountain
when arven returns to kofu's restaurant, the older man asks how his time in the mountain went
arven, ever the glass half full kind of guy, recounts his trip fondly, mentioning all the pokemon he met and the breathtaking views from atop the mountain, but his energy wanes when he talks about his meeting with grusha
"i think i really upset him," he says, guilt etched into his features
kofu puts a reassuring hand on the young man's shoulder, a bittersweet, knowing smile on his lips
"it's not you, boy, i promise."
arven only receives some clarity on the issue when he meets up with nemona at poco path to hang out a few weeks later
they talk for a while, catching one another up on their latest adventures, and arven inevitably tells his friend about the encounter with grusha
nemona waves a hand, telling arven that he shouldn't take this one too close to heart, that grusha's kind of not the friendliest guy out there
when arven asks her if she knows why he hates being a gym leader so much, she tells him everything she knows
she lays grusha's past bare, fondly remembering seeing him winning championship after championship on the tv when she was younger until "that nasty leg injury" put him out of commission for good, which led him to become the super tough gym leader he is now, and oooh arven, you should see his altaria in action, it's such a pretty pokemon but man does it pack a punch ! (she looks like she's ready to run all the way up that mountain and challenge him yet again, arven thinks)
the puzzle pieces start to click into place with all this new information, and arven can feel his stomach sink
the conversation they'd had replays in his mind, and arven wants to shove his whole fist in his mouth as he remembers all the seemingly nice things he'd said that would definitely strike a nerve for someone like grusha

An Evening at The Treasure with Larry
Words: 2,617
Synopsis: Grusha and Larry spend an evening talking. That's it.
AO3 Version
"Evening."
"Evening." The chair next to him was hauled out, and Grusha threw himself into it with a loud, tired sigh. This sounded like it was going to be a long night. "This place is licensed right?"
"It is, but I wouldn't recommend much. The beer in here's absolute piss." That was the one downside to the Treasure, now that he thought about it. It only sold Johtonese beer. Which would be fine if Johtonese beer was remotely palatable and didn't taste like old beer mats and the sticky underside of a Galaric pub table. Not that Larry knew what either of those tasted like, but the Johtonese beer gave him a good approximation in his opinion.
Grusha didn't seem to care, ordering himself a full pint before he'd even removed his coat. Larry mused, stuffing the rest of his half-eaten onigiri into his mouth. "Fail your inspection?"
"How could you tell?"
"You don't usually drink." In fact, he remembered Grusha telling him a while ago that he couldn’t drink; something to do with extensive internal organ damage from years of snowboarding or something like that. Or maybe he’d told him he couldn’t drink too much, he didn’t remember. Only so many times he could listen to Grusha’s laments over his totally-not-rose-tinted pro days and how physically beaten and broken his body was because of it before he started to tune him out and wonder what the everloving Hell the appeal of snowboarding even was in the first place. “Don’t worry, I failed mine too.”
“Did you get the kid as well?”
Another mouthful of onigiri. “Unfortunately.”
That seemed to worry him even further. "Oh. Right. Forgot she hates you too."
"What do you mean?"
"Sending that girl along. I swear, I didn't stand a chance, there was no way I could beat her, she almost took me out with just one Pokémon, I couldn't do anything to counter-"
"Geeta doesn't hate you." And if she did, she never said anything. Which would be strange with Geeta. She liked to make her opinions known. "And you won't be getting sacked either, trust me."
He could practically feel Grusha’s eyes baring into him. "How do you know that?"
Larry sighed, accidentally pouring far more soy sauce onto his next bite than he’d have liked. "In order to sack any of the gym leaders, she needs the express approval of all four members of the Elite Four-"
“Yeah, and? I barely know any of them bar you, what if they-”
“-And none of them would stand for it.” He made a mental note to drown his onigiri in soy sauce more often. “And even if they did, I wouldn't."
That made Grusha pause. "Huh. Didn't know you cared that much for me."
Truth be told, Larry wasn't sure how much of it was borne out of actual care per se, and how much was just him wanting to mess with Geeta should the question of who to and not to sack ever be asked. It wasn't like she was planning on sacking Grusha anyway; she barely spoke about him, and when she did she was mostly positive. Simply put, he wasn't exactly in her firing line. "You're a good kid. Be a shame to see you let go."
"Thanks, I guess."
He seemed like he had another question on his mind, when a buzz from under the bar caught both of their attentions.
"That yours?" Larry already knew it wasn't his. He’d kept his phone on silent for so long he didn’t even know what his ringtone sounded like. Not wise, perhaps, but it was better than having his moments of peace at The Treasure interrupted by Geeta, or worse, any of the other Elites.
"Yeah it's…" The colour drained from his already pale face. "It's Geeta."
“Best you answer it then.”
Grusha nodded weakly as he got down and headed towards the door, leaving the building just as his beer was placed on the table. Larry contemplated sending it back, and ordering him a nice tumbler of Johtonese whisky instead, imagining he'd probably prefer not only the taste, but the higher alcohol content to boot. But that was expensive. Plus, his beer surely wouldn't get that warm whilst he was gone.
His mind temporarily wandered back to an earlier conversation they’d had together. It had been an otherwise unremarkable inspection day, for him at least, when the solitude had been interrupted by a characteristic huff and the sound of the chair next to him being pulled out.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
Grusha had sighed, with a raggedness which suggested he was only barely holding onto his composure. "Just… had a bad day. That's all."
"Doesn't seem like it.” He knew "just a bad day at work" when he saw one, after all, and this was clearly something a bit more serious than that. Of course, he wouldn't pry if it was deeply personal, but he wasn't about to let Grusha sit there and stew in his own misery without at least encouraging him to talk. That would just be rude. "Go on. Tell us."
He'd taken a deep breath. "You're in the Elite Four, right?"
"Unfortunately."
"Has Geeta… said anything about me earlier?"
"Nope."
"Okay." Another long, deep breath. "Okay good."
"Why, you in trouble?"
"I… had an argument with her today. A pretty big one. I was just wondering if-”
“She hasn’t mentioned anything, don’t worry.”
Admittedly he had actually pried some the following day, not really getting anything substantial out of Geeta aside from they’d had a disagreement over Terrastilizing, and naturally the other Elites didn’t know anything at all. Perhaps Geeta was downplaying. Perhaps Grusha was overreacting. Back then, he didn't know either of them well enough to tell which was more plausible, and Hell, he still barely knew Geeta on a personal level.
But having spent multiple evenings listening to a seemingly endless stream of frets and worries after each inspection, he was starting to strongly suspect the latter.
Now granted, he’d managed to successfully convince her that maybe doling out inspection to someone else, someone less officious and socially inept, would be a good "change of pace". Unfortunately this had meant she'd sent Hassel in her stead, as if putting up with him in work wasn't bad enough. He'd avoided visiting The Treasure for three days straight until he agreed to battle elsewhere; last thing he wanted to do after losing a battle was to listen to him bawling his eyes out until he either ran out of tears of fucked off to bother the next person on his list.
His wandering came to an end when he heard The Treasure door open, and the steady sound of heavy winter boots approaching the chair next to him. No exasperated sigh this time, it seemed. A good sign, perhaps. "So did you get sacked?"
"Ha. Very funny." Grusha sat down, hand reaching for his beer but not drawing it close for a sip, before retracting it and resting his folded arms on the table. "Can I ask you a serious, work-related question?"
"If you must."
He took a deep breath. "Apparently that kid said something to Geeta about me, y’know… not having anything to fall back on if I get sacked."
"Not a question, but go on."
"Shut up. But she's offered me another position. One like yours, in the main office, she says I can manage my time between there and the gym, and-"
"Don't bother." He finished his onigiri, tempted to order a third round. “Seriously, don’t bother. It’s not worth it.”
Grusha seemed somewhat taken aback "Well, you said that with a lot of conviction."
"Believe it or not, I actually do feel strongly about some things." He made his mind up, waiting for an opportunity to catch the chef's eye. "And personally I feel like taking any additional job offers from Geeta is the worst decision you could make if you’re looking for a backup plan, so to speak."
"Okay. Any reason why…?"
"Well for one, the job isn’t worth the hassle. She'll tell you you're able to manage the time, but what she won't tell you is only barely." He finally managed to get the chef’s attention, earning a knowing eye-roll in response. “Secondly, you're not at risk of being sacked. Trust me, I'd know."
"You sound very sure of yourself."
"I am." His third order of grilled onigiri was set down in front of him. "So unless you want to end up like me in twenty years time, I suggest you stay well clear of any job that woman offers you."
“Well, what do you suggest as an alternative then?”
Larry thought for a moment. “Can you not do anything with your snowboarding? I'll admit, I don't know much about it or what you did or what happened to you, but can you not do coaching or-"
"No." His answer was abrupt. Larry suspected he may have accidentally struck a nerve. Whoops. "No, I… I mean, I still can snowboard and everyone always tells me I should take up teaching or coaching, but it's just…”
Grusha sat back, hands running through his hair with a sigh. “It's complicated, that's all."
Larry nodded in false understanding. “Okay. And is there really nothing else?”
“Not that I can think of.”
He took another moment to think, thoughts suddenly overshadowed by the grim realisation he should’ve specified which filling he wanted in his onigiri. “Well you can still do your snowboarding, yes? Have you thought about joining the mountain rescue guys or-”
Grusha's face screwed up as though he'd just suggested he take up a job as a sewer cleaner. “Ew, no, they use skis.”
“And that’s a problem because…?”
“Don’t like skiers.”
Larry resisted the overwhelming urge to roll his eyes. “You’re hardly giving me much to work with here.”
”I know, I know.” He leaned back again, readjusting his ponytail into something marginally less messy, then leaning forwards to reach for his beer again but still not taking a sip. "If anything I was thinking of just… buckling down, really putting the effort into being a good trainer above all else."
"Oh?"
"Yeah like, career trainers are a thing, right? I feel like if I just put the effort in…" He slumped back in his chair. "I dunno. What do you think?"
"Can't decide for you, I'm afraid." He could certainly give advice on what not to do, but what to do? That was something he’d never excelled at. “But I take it you enjoy training then?”
“I guess. I mean, it’s not snowboarding but…" He reached for his beer again, absently tracing a circle into the thick condensation on the glass. “I just thought it's something I'm mildly good at, and I already have all the stuff for it, and I'm in a position to train regularly and…"
If he continued to lean back so much, he'd fall off his damn chair. "I dunno. Think I need to sleep on it or something."
"Sounds like a plan." God, how anybody enjoyed pickled plum onigiri was beyond him. Stuff tasted like battery acid. ”You gonna stay a gym leader or…?”
“Not sure. Was actually wondering if I could try out for the Elite Four, if that ever becomes a possibility.”
“Aiming high, are we?” He was tempted to send this plate back. That or order more whisky. “I will say though, if you’re trying to avoid Geeta-”
“It’s probably not the best career choice then, I know, I know.” And again reaching for his beer. "But it probably beats being a gym leader, right?"
"It has its perks." Right, that was enough of the plum onigiri. Time to get the bill. Or more whisky. "Pays better for a start. Less challengers too, plus the ones you get are actually somewhat competent. Don’t feel like so much of a chump when I lose an Elite battle."
"Must be nice."
"I suppose it is.” He decided on another glass of whisky. After all, it was inspection day. “Don't have to hit any win-lose targets either. You can go all out every day if you want.”
Grusha sighed wishfully. “Ain’t that a dream.”
“Definitely good for venting all that gym-related frustration.” He let out a rare chuckle. Maybe he liked this job more than he'd initially thought. “Guess the only downside is having Geeta constantly breathing down your neck. And the other Elites."
"You not get on with them then?"
Perhaps it was the whisky, or perhaps his feelings about his colleagues were that strong, but he couldn't help but snort loudly at that question. It seemed as though his disdain wasn't as obvious as he'd previously thought. Good. "Not at all. Insufferable, the lot of them."
"Do tell." Now that seemed to have perked Grusha up a bit. Thank God, Larry was starting to get tired of his misery. As if he wasn’t tired enough already.
"Not much to tell, other than they do my head in." Time for another whisky, he thought. He'd need it if Grusha wanted to hear about his other colleagues. "You met any of them?”
Grusha shrugged. “Met Hassel a few times. Seemed nice enough.”
“Try working with him for a few days, you’ll want to strangle him after the first.” He admired his own tolerance levels sometimes. How he hadn’t murdered Hassel yet was a miracle, honestly. “The other two aren’t much better.”
“Can’t say I know them. Isn’t one of them a kid though?”
“She’s seven.” Far too young to be remotely close to the League in his opinion, skill level be damned. “She’s a nuisance too. Wish Geeta would just send her off to a gym. Be better for her I’m sure.”
“Why, she not a good trainer then?”
“Oh she’s good, just don’t think the actual League’s the best place for someone her age.” His third whisky of the night was placed down in front of him. “Geeta doesn’t either, but not like she can do much about it. Can’t sack an Elite without the other three agreeing, and I know Hassel and Rika wouldn’t dare vote her out.”
“Rika’s the green haired girl right?”
“Mhm.” Of course Grusha would ask a question whilst he was mid-sip. “Barely talk to her. Suppose she’s the most tolerable out of all of them based on that merit. Not that that means much, still swap her for you any day.”
“Aw, so you do care about me then?” He felt Grusha's head hovering inches above his shoulder. At least he was in a better mood now.
“Ay, never said that.” He took another mouthful of whisky, savouring its spicy burn. “But you would be welcome company, at least. Wish I could say I could pull a few strings for you, but I’m sure you know what the rules are like by now.”
“I know, I know.” He pulled his beer close again, biting his lip. “Would you actually… do that? If you could?”
"Well I can't 'pull a few strings', so to speak, but I can mention you’re interested in joining next time I’m in.” Fuck, this whisky tasted better than usual. Maybe he was just starting to get drunk. “Know Hassel's been trying to get out for a few years now. Says he wants to focus on his teaching. Or something."
"I'd… really appreciate that. Really." Grusha smiled sincerely for what seemed like that first time that night. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
With one last smile, he finally took a sip of his beer, his face contorting mid-sip and haphazardly dribbling some of it back into the glass. "Fuck me, that's-"
"Told you. Piss."

ohh how about 🌧️, 🐹, 🥪 and 🌌 for Kala, Liam and June :D
[ask game]
Thank you for the ask Max!! :]
🌧️ What is the favorite thing for you OC to do on a rainy day?
Kala: ..not stand outside in it in full armour, that's for sure lol. Otherwise she loves being outside during rain! Preferably walking barefoot someplace muddy.
Liam: He's had really nice walks with Skip in the rain now and then but generally he prefers being inside. Hanging out with whoever is there, maybe doing chores.
June: Really depends tbh. Is it a thunderstorm or summer rain kinda day? Then chances are she'll love being outside doing nothing in particular, just enjoying the rain. Galloping through the rain is cool in theory, she tried it one (1) time to realise yeah, it really is only cool in theory lol.
🐹 Which would be your OCs favorite Pokemon? What kind of trainer would they be?
Kala: Not sure if it means the types of trainers that you encounter? So imma just say what type gym leader they'd be x'd Anyways, ground or bug type for Kala! Her fave would be a Heracross maybe? She'd like beetle looking ones.
Liam: Flying or normal type leader; i assigned him a Talonflame for that but his fave would be like. a Herdier or something because of course it would be a dog one lol.
June: Fire type leader (big surprise). Gave her a Volcarona and she'd still like that a lot i think! Wouldn't be able to pick a fave 'mon but would like fire and dragon and ghost types, ones that look like horses, and ones that have funky type combos the most.
🥪 On a scale from ‘burns water’ to ‘5 course menu’ how well can your OC cook?
Kala: She can cook okay! Knows enough to get by pre-Blight, but learns some tips n tricks from Zevran and Sten
Liam: Decent! He doesn't know anything too fancy but is very good at making something simple n tasty from whatever he has lying around.
June: Awful. Do Not let her into a kitchen. Pretty much relies on rations and/or food she can buy/trade/steal/whatever out on the field
🌌 If your OC has a nightmare, what’s it most likely about?
Kala: Darkspawn. Still doesn't dream much post Joining if it isn't The Usual (so, Darkspawn Nightmares). She counts Broodmother nightmares to that too, those are the same thing and not something different, nope.
Liam: Carver. Bethany. Leandra. Take your pick <3 When his back acts up then sometimes Arishok ones, but those are much more of a blur and more Sensation based.
June: Nightmares tend to become a jumble of whatever she's been experiencing more recently. Red lyrium. Burnt bodies. Being trapped. Red lyrium. Pain in her hand.
#ty again!#gotta reassign pokemon to them all fr#oc: kalagna brosca#oc: liam hawke#oc: june trevelyan#my ocs#oc ask game/ my answers

Eusine for the character ask meme
How I feel about this character
Underrated as hell I still stand by what I said in my dumb ramblings/vent about the Scarlet/Violet DLC and while he's by no means perfect I think he at least deserves to be given a chance c': I mean ironically he gets some recognition in the anime & Generations better than the games I think...? idk there's just something that speaks to me about a eccentric man who's lifelong dream was taken by a ten-year-old...
I guess because he's a unique Pokemon character in his own right? After all, he has his own Trainer title, and his characterization is enough to get us familiar with him while also introducing something new: He's too young to be a professor, yet he still does research on Suicune and the legends of Johto. That lifelong dedication and passion to keep pushing forward even after your dream is gone is almost...inspiring? Like Sonic somehow lost his ego and got turned into a purple tuxedo man, for lack of a better term ._.;
I'd also argue that Eusine (and Morty) was a trailblazer for side characters with their own unique goals and motivations aside from the basic Gym Leaders and Champions. People like Steven (in Emerald) or Emma, who show that everyone has their own unique stories and motivations for what they do, and that there's more to the games than just beating up Gym Leaders. There's a whole world to learn and discover, if you're willing to chase for it, and chase for it Eusine will.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
You know I'm gonna be honest I don't know if I can see him with anyone besides Morty or possibly Steven ._.; (I used to ship him with Jasmine in the past but now I see them more as siblings speaking of which-)
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Jasmine
Steven
Kieran
Cilan?
Honestly I feel like he could vibe with any pokemon character if given the chance
My unpopular opinion about this character
Gonna be honest (again) I have no idea why characterization for him in my rp channel ended up being the "dumb", bubbly character. I know I compared him to the professors, but I can't see him being that smart, just dedicated. I know he's usually portrayed as this elegant, sophisticated type of character, though considering how many times you run into him and how energetic is I imagine he's a bit more disorganized than elegant (which doesn't help my dumb Sonic analogy), he just keeps the look cuz uuuuuuh reasons? Also I say "dumb" but I don't mean that in a condescending/bad way, I also like to imagine that he's more empathic than most people think/portray of him but again that's just me ._.;
Also I kinda fell out of Pokemon Masters EX because I got sucked into a different gacha game (COUGH COUGH enstars COUGH) but Eusine's in there right? ...Right? c':
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point but can we just have Kieran and Eusine have a talk in Kitakami so that the whole premise of the Scarlet/Violet DLC doesn't center around one misunderstanding or just never happens at all please ;-;
#answers by lirema#thanks for the ask!#this is a totally organized and well-thought out answer mhm#i just think he's neat

[A video is attached; Lillian has reached the top of Celestial Tower, where Astra and another woman stand.
Lillian clears her throat. "Hey, Astra!" She calls. "You lost your X-transceiver!" She waves it to catch Astra's attention, the field of view shifting disorientingly as a result, making it much harder to spot Astra's slight flinch.
"Thank you, Lillian," Astra says eventually, walking over to take it back. The video fumbles a while as she takes it and places it back on her wrist. "It can't have been an easy trek."
"It was nothing," Lillian assures with a grin. "What took you up here, anyway?"
"Mistralton's Gym Leader, Skyla," Astra nods at the other woman, who waves cheerily but doesn't interrupt, "spotted an injured Pokémon up here. She told me to follow and, well, here we are."
"Long and short of it!" Skyla agrees. "It's all better and flown away now. Say, Astra, Lillian, since you made it all the way up here anyway, why don't you ring the bell? It soothes the spirits of the lost. That, and the sound reflects the character of the person ringing it."
"...I don't see why not," Astra muses.
She strides purposefully, gaze briefly flickering back to linger on Lillian, before she rings the bell. It lets out a melancholy, mournful peal, low and long. Skyla closes her eyes, listening thoughtfully. Lillian blinks in surprise, eyes seeming to tear up for a brief moment.
"You're a pretty tired person, aren't you?" Skyla asks lightly. "Life weighs heavily on you, but you keep strong and persist anyway. That's the kind of sound it is. You need to give yourself a chance to rest more, connect with those around you. We can't make it alone, after all." She gives a gentle smile. "I'm sure whoever you were thinking of, your feelings reached them, too."
Astra looks at Lillian for a brief moment. "...It's kind of you to say that," she murmurs.
After the bell stills and quiets, Lillian, too, walks up to the bell and rings it. It's hopeful, bright, but a little hollow as it rings out, lending a sad quality to the tone.
"You... you try to keep pushing ahead no matter what," Skyla deduces. "It's admirable! But sometimes it helps to stop, take a look at the past. Ask for help from those around you. And you're looking for someone, but you're not sure who. I'm sure you'll find them eventually, and until you do... it's okay to not be okay. You don't have to hide the sorrow with the joys. They can exist side by side."
"...Right," Lillian replies, sounding somewhat distracted. "...I'll keep that in mind."
"Well!" Skyla claps sharply. "That's enough impromptu psychoanalysis! I'll fly you two back, so you don't have to hike all the way again, and then Astra can finally get her challenge! If you want to spectate, miss, you're perfectly free to!"
"...I think I will," Lillian agrees. "If that's alright?" She tilts her head at Astra.
Astra nods silently, struggling to meet her in the eye.
The video ends as the sound from Lillian's push of the bell slowly peters out.]

Simon, a lanky but spirited ten year old, makes his way through the last leg of Diglett Cave, trudging. The gym challenge was the only thing motivating him forward, but he was determined.
He'd studied, after all, and that had to be enough, right? He knew every type match up, every advantage he could take, he'd even plotted out the very best route he could take to ensure he faced each gym in the most optimal order.
All he had was a bellsprout. For this badge that was all he'd really calculated he'd need. He was sure his math was sound. There really wasn't a way he could lose.
Could he?
He arrives at the gym in Pewter City, a little worn out, jacket torn, and rather dirt covered. But he was ready.
[There are gaps in this data. Did he heal before he went to the gym? Did he g to the pokemrt. This memory is unstable..]
He is standing before Brock now, trembling a little. He's got his big book of pokemon facts still under his arm, mumbling as many memorized facts until...
Brock- Welcome challenger. I'm Brock, leader of the Pewter City gym. You're here for your first badge, is that right?
Brock is much more forceful than Simon had anticipated. He suddenly finds himself trembling. Maybe this was a mistake.
Simon- I'm.. er... Simon, from Celedon City. I'm here to battle you for the Boulder Badge.
Trainers in Celedon typically started with Erika. But the chance to take on an early type advantage with Bellsprout seemed to be the right move. At least it had when he started out. Now he wasn't as sure.
Brock doesn't seem to mind. He selects two Pokeballs from a panel of Six and stands before Simon in ready position.
Brock- Alright. Let's see what you've got then, challenger.
He sends out his first Pokemon, a Geodude, just as expected. Simon throws out his first and only Pokemon.
Simon- Go, Bells!
The Bellsprout looks ready to move. Prepared for the fight in front of it. But Simon looks a little uncertain. He still calls his first attack. He'd already prepared his strategy in advance.
Simon- Bells, start with growth. Um... and then..
Brock- Geodude. Tackle!
The attack comes swifter than Simon accounted for, and hits it hard. The impact is so much more than he'd accounted for.
Critical hit.
What comes next? Another attack? Is there time to use a status? Just go! He knows he has to just go!
Simon- Bellsprout use... er...
He draws a blank. Staring at that Geodude in the center of the arena, every single calculation he'd run through is suddenly gone from his mind.
Brock- Geodude. Tackle, again!
Another hit. Bells is on the ground. Its looking back.
S: Bells, just- just attack use.. Mega.. vine? Tombstoner? Use.. um...
Too late. By the time he can even get his wits about him again the battle is over. He recalls the Bellsprout to its Pokeball, defeated, overwhelmed, humiliated.
If he couldn't win a match with such a clear advantage how could he be expected to win any at all.
He runs from the gym without ever waiting for what Brock had to say next. He wasn't going to be a trainer after all. ]

Thinking abt this new concept of villain au Iris and how she decided to try and become Champion, and like, she already has the gym badges yknow, before that fateful battle two years ago, she went through the gyms to prove herself capable of being a Gym Leader herself
And hey, she never got the chance to actually challenge the E4, so this was good opportunity. She wondered if that old man w wild red hair was still Champion, she forgot his name, but hey, she has to admit, he was a kind man and treated his Pokémon like family. She wishes him well. What was his name.. Al.. Alder! Yes, that's the one, the kind man who would often visit her and Drayden at Opelucid. He was nice, Iris liked him, he had a lot of stories about Drayden and himself when they were younger. It reminds her of the times she and her brother would play around w Pokémon too.
But, this is no time to reminisce of the past, it's time for her to challenge the League and become Unova's Champion. Whether or not Alder will be the one waiting for her, she doesn't care, she will win.
The E4 was no challenge for her. Surprisingly, they still recognize her. Shauntal hugged her, telling her that she missed her, all of them thought smth had happened to her, but she's glad she's okay. Caitlin woke up from her slumber in a hurry, almost couldn't believe that it truly was Iris standing before her. Marshal was left speechless, like Shauntal, he crouched down to hug her, hiding his tears and going on how happy he was she was alive. Grimsley dropped his coin the moment he saw her, but he smiled, wiping his tears as he went on how she got everyone scared thinking she was dead. It was a strange feeling. Drayden, the Elite Four, they all showed concern towards her. They showed how happy they were to see that she's still alive and doing well. It was.. unfamiliar to her. Ghetsis would often show them that he cares, but it never felt as warm as w Drayden and the E4. It was drastically different, and ofc, she knows why, it was still strange for her. She wasn't used to it.
Well hey, no need to dwell on those thoughts, she tells herself, as she walked towards the Champion chambers. It has.. been a while since she last been there. She wonders who'd greet her within the room. She actually prayed it won't be N.
Heading inside the chamber, everything was so different. Sitting on the throne, she saw someone donning blue, those hazel eyes looked at her, a small gasp left his lips as he hurriedly stood from his seat, almost running towards Iris but stopped midway, hand outstretched, wanting to reach out for her, but was terrified at the thought that perhaps.. it was another trick of his mind. Iris felt overwhelmed, it was her friend. He became champion, just as he always dreamt he'd be. She wanted to reach out too, to hold his hand once more, to hear his voice, and Arceus granted her that one thing as she finally hears the voice of her friend again.
"Iris..? Is that.. is that really you..?"
Hilbert.. she missed him so much. Tears brimmed her eyes as it did w him, and she nodded, running straight to his arms, w him holding her close, afraid she's gonna disappear again. They know they're going to battle soon, ofc Iris didn't head to the League just to see him, she probably didn't know he was Champion, but.. right now.. right now they don't have to think abt that. They'll cross that bridge when they get there, rn they're just happy that they're together again.

Episode 63 - Viridian Gym! The Final Badge!
This is it. Detour complete, Ash stands unknowingly before the ultimate HQ of Team Rocket, ready to finally meet and confront the man behind it all. Seeing as he missed his chances to do so in Celadon and Saffron, that is.
Gary pops by and confirms how he's been managing to get Badges despite so many of the Gyms we encounter being screwy: Kanto has extra Gyms in other towns off the charted map. Gary's got ten of them, in fact, because he's the kind of overachiever that a player character typically is. (I would totally get every single Badge before confronting the Elite Four if there were extra Gyms.)
Gary gets to face Giovanni first, so we finally get to see what his team looks like. He chooses Nidoking against Giovanni's Golem. That's a pretty even match-up. They're neck and neck in stats. Nidoking's faster, but Golem has much beefier Physical stats. They share a weakness to Ground that either could exploit, but that comes more easily to Golem due to learning Earthquake naturally.
This is winnable, but it's going to be an uphill battle for Gary.
Giovanni uses Tackle. Gary makes the very Ash-like decision to try and match a Tackle for a Tackle, despite Golem's resistance to Normal moves. Inexplicably, Nidoking's Tackle does so much damage even through Golem's resistance and incredible Defense that it knocks Golem out. Gary must have power-leveled his team.
(That makes sense. He does have ten Badges, so he's probably swimming in XP.)
For his next Pokemon, Giovanni breaks Gym Type and sends out Kingler. He tries to capitalize on Nidoking's weakness to Water using Kingler's signature move Crabhammer. At 85% Accuracy, the odds smile on Gary and the attack misses. But Gary sees where this is going and decides to switch out nonetheless.
For his next pick, Gary confronts Kingler with Arcanine. Bold choice, given that he's swapping one Water vulnerability for another. But Arcanine does have Speed through the wazoo and Gary knows how broken this game is. He wraps up Kingler in the inescapable G1 Fire Spin to drain their HP, then finishes them off with Fire Blast.
This is going well. But everything takes a turn when Giovanni reveals his ace: Holy fuck is that Mewtwo!? It's fucking Mewtwo! Yeah. No. Gary's up shit creek without a paddle now, because that's Mewtwo. In terms of stats, Mewtwo trumps everything Gary has because that's fucking Mewtwo! I don't even know why Team Rocket's bothering stealing Pokemon anymore when they have goddamn Mewtwo!
At Giovanni's behest, Gary tries to send Arcanine and Nidoking at Mewtwo together, and Mewtwo still stomps. Because Mewtwo. So that's over and we don't even get to know what Gary's third Pokemon would have been.
(We also can't confirm what his Starter was or whether he's one of the Trainers who abandoned Ash's Starter squad. He has Arcanine, which he's only supposed to have if he didn't pick Charmander. But since Charmander's the only Starter whose OT we can confirm wasn't Gary, this tells us nothing.)
Ash enters the Gym and finds Gary whited out. Gary warns him about Mewtwo, but it doesn't matter. Giovanni had to leave on pressing business and left Jessie and James to run the Gym. (Goddammit.)
This devolves into typical Rocket nonsense, complete with Pikachu once again successfully damaging a Ground type (Rhydon) with Electric attacks. But Ash's determination and ultimate victory does earn Gary's respect, even though Gary points out that it's not exactly fair since Ash didn't have to fight Mewtwo.
And he's right. As much as "LOL Ash gets Pity Badges for fighting Jessie and James" is an unfair criticism, he genuinely did get this one just for fighting Jessie and James. But whatever.
With the final Badge in hand, Ash sets out for Indigo Plateau. Or he would, but despite being Gym Leaders, both Brock and Misty are inexplicably clueless as to how to get there. Guess it's time for that return to Pallet Town that Misty's Cerulean detour sidestepped.

Heeeyyy!
Been Busy with,,, too many writing projects tbh (and in the process of possibly making my blog into one for the Pokemon au- currently the main roadblock is that I Cannot draw and I'm afraid it'd be boring without art)
but! You asked so I shall deliver!
Pokemon AU Cass headcanons!
- A fairly regular traveling trainer tbh. Been to a couple other regions but ultimately stays in her home one most of the time
- Doesn't focus on one particular type but she does like Dark types! Definitely has a Pawniard or Bisharp on her team, idk why but that's just The Vibes
- Her dad is the captain of the region's police force (sorry Officer Jenny but not this time)
- Is practically sisters with Rapunzel at this point, after housing her when Raps escaped Mother Gothel, and Would Do Anything for this girl tbh
- Has a lowkey rivalry with Merida, the two not only have unofficial pokemon battles every time they cross paths, but also physically spar when they get the chance
- Actually traveled with Jamie for a little bit when he was on his journey, before becoming champion- the two of them are surprisingly close, and she was one of the people he asked to be part of his new elite 4, though she declined
- As a result of the above, she has clearance to go up to the league to visit at any time
- Does Not know who her mother is, barely remembers her and dad Will Not Talk About It
- Licensed to be a stand-in gym leader at Eugene's gym (again, enjoys dark types) but hasn't had to do it yet
- is followed around by a Misdreavus that likes to encourage,,, certain behaviors :)
Lemme know if you have any other character requests!! They're fun to do but it's hard to pick who to do next lol
Glad to hear these asks are starting an entire au, that's what they deserve 👏👏
Honestly the Jamie+Cass friendship is the interaction I didn't know I needed, the idea of a nerdy weird kid and sassy grumpy young woman travelling together is both wholesome and hilarious, thank you
I'd love to hear about the httyd gang and/or the guardians, if you had something in mind!
#at this point im waiting for these asks like a victorian girl reading her friends letters#like yes please tell me about what the big city people are up to#asks#sneakysidekick#pokemon au
