re: that post that was talking about how plot twists are meant to be hinted at and picked up on because otherwise they wouldn’t be good plot twists had me thinking; tmnt 2012 does plot twists very well. my favorite thing about the show is how well it sets things up and executes them, the best parts about the show are the shocking reveals and what it does with them after.

- the reveal of karai is probably the best in the show easily, it’s a perfect example of the show leaving hints for the audience to pick up on and then stick with. the case with irma… was a perfect example of a plot twist purely for shock factor, that previously had no hints or buildup for the audience to notice whatsoever. and everybody hated it.

- the reveal of april’s mother, the utrom, april’s entire character arc and the slow reveal of her (spoiler alert) not being human, being half mutant, having psychic powers… these were all slowly built up but executed in a way that was so so satisfying.

- and we also have to admit that they pulled off the push-and-pull type plot twist very well; the red herrings of wondering ‘what happened to splinter’, is he alive, is he okay, is he really dead this time? and playing with the audience’s feelings and trust issues over and over really made the ending of the show (s4 finale) hit 10x harder. i don’t know much about the logistics and theatrics of filmmaking and story writing/building but i’d like to appreciate this part of tmnt 2012 and how the show doesn’t fail to be interesting or captivating no matter what it’s trying out.
