Hi kay!!! Your fondness for sun peeking through the sky always surprises me and warms my heart. I don't know why I always think that series lives in my drafts and nowhere else!

I think this one started with trying to fill the @steverogersbingo prompt Action/Adventure. A lot of my work is usually character-driven so it was kind of a fun challenge!

I think the way I went about it was basically isolating what to me was the most interesting parts of what would on paper be an action/adventure story, and focusing solely on those moments and threads. Which, unsurprisingly, was unpacking Steve's characterization and themes, and his growth through this 'plot'.

I have a pretty strong opinion when it comes to (canon adjacent) fic that whatever is already known in canon shouldn't really be reiterated/explained on the page. It makes for a much stronger fic (in my opinion) and much better pacing.

I was able to really put that into practice here, both in terms of trying to write an action/adventure story that I would enjoy, and also in really going wild with the pacing. That's probably most evident in the second part of the series, A Split Second of Choice.

What I honestly am still so fond of, though, is how Steve's characterization really relies on the ongoing steady growth from the first part, From Linear to Rewind, and how that interacts with both his past and the events leading up to the end.

A Split Second relies equally heavily on canon as it does on From Linear and I'm so pleased with that! That this sort of quiet, slow exploration of friendship and self-worth and hope and identity kind of built the cornerstone for Steve's eventual adventure!

I said this in the endnotes but I wasn't even going to write A Split Second because the final line of From Linear felt like such a fitting ending that really drives home the point of the piece, but I am so glad I kept going.

chilly weather is the ideal! I hate having to carry a light jacket with me everywhere but at least I'm not sweating lol

41. how do you take your coffee?

ok so if I'm making enough coffee for me and my mom (which is most mornings), I'll just take it with three teaspoons of sugar and a shit ton of cream. but if I'm just making for myself, I'll add a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon and cloves into the coffee machine and it's delicious! makes my day every time.

I've offically come full circle a decade later since I'm back hyperfixating on the Arthurian legend distracting myself from everything and listening to the same music as my 14 year old self was. But hey at least I have the confidence in drawing them now.

I love them so so dearly I'm going just a little insane, I'm sorry to everyone who doesn't know me beyond my usual fandoms, you have to put up with what rearranged my brain chemistry when I was a kid.

This started as just a few of the knights, Lancelot, Gawaine, and Galahad and then it became: "Oh but then I should draw __" and here we are. My designs are all over the place and I cannot be bothered to actually draw armor I'll die i just want to draw pretty patterns. But I think the mismatch of clothing styles and all that makes it cohesive?

And I'm going with Malroy and T.H White influence as it's what I know best, that being said all the boys have their coat of arms alluded to in some way but you might have to squint.

(my laptop absolutely hates me for this one. imagine exporting a file and then having to manipulate the sizing 3 times for it to even be able to upload anywhere, couldn't be me. I don't even know how to show the full thing..)

thank you!!! i have quite a few headcanons for her, i think it’s interesting to draw how she might look different depending what season it is

here’s a messy guide to my nya designs :D

honestly a lot of this is due to me not being able to make up my mind on her eye color or hair color SO!

-she starts to grow her hair out after skybound due to the whole ‘looking like delara’ thing

-as she got older her hair changed texture from being thick and straight to thick and wavy

after seabound stuff:

-her hair color changes from dark brown to black, as well as the salt water making it more curly then before

- she also wears it down in crystallized due to not needing to tie it up for combat after losing her powers

- her eye color changes from dark brown to blueish grey (which fades over time, eventually being a dark grey in dragons rising)

-permanent markings on face and body from her water form (start off as light blue, eventually fading to a natural scar color)

-imo she probably lost a lot of muscle mass after seabound which i imagine was very upsetting for her bc she worked so hard to be seen as physically strong compared to the others

- i also headcanon that post seabound she is hard of hearing, due to the sound of the ocean in her ears 24/7

- her bangs are grown out in dragons rising, but the side pieces are shorter than before. the rest of her hair is longer in general !

You’d had a fairly busy day signing your latest novel release for your fans. This was the 2nd city out of 4 you were visiting for this little campaign of yours and while you loved every second of it, you really miss your bed. And your monkey. So while you sit tiredly in the back seat of an Uber taking you back to your hotel your thoughts shift to your boyfriend.

With a little start you realize you had forgotten to text him back! He’d sent you a text earlier today but you had just started the signing and didn’t have time to respond. Quickly you open your phone and smile as you always do opening the message chain between the two of you.

Cheeky Monkey 🧡: Hey Peaches, I think the shirt you ordered arrived today

Followed by a little monkey sticker with its long arms in the shape of a heart. Fond warmth bubbles up inside you and you text him back.

You: Really? Took long enough! Send me a pic I wanna see it!

To your disappointment it goes unread even after you arrive at your hotel. With a little shrug you figure he’s probably finishing up training, it is about that time for him anyway. Setting your things down you pull out some pajamas and clean underwear deciding to take a quick shower before bed. Once done you climb into bed with your phone and laptop, there’s still no reply but the message has been read at least so hopefully he’s either on his way home to your shared apartment or just taking a shower of his own before replying.

To pass the time you start looking over your professional writing account on Instaglamour. Liking and resharing the pictures of you with fans that you had been tagged in and uploading a few of your own. It puts a smile on your face to know you’ve come so far from the struggling writer you used to be, now being blessed with having such a wonderful fan base.

You’re distracted though when your phone pings next to you and glancing at the name you grin widely your heart skipping a little beat like it always does at seeing Wukongs name on your screen.

Opening the message though is a whole other story.

Wukong had sent a selfie, he’s standing in front of your floor length mirror with a claw tipped hand resting on his cocked hip. His furry tail is curled up adorably behind him in his usual expression of ‘I’m being cheeky and I know it’. He’s grinning saucily at his phone and you cannot help but burst out into a loud full on belly laugh. The mischievous monkey is wearing your admittedly frilly peach colored shirt and his boxers. His fur is sticking up at odd angles and looks messy as it spills out over the collar and sleeve openings, showing he obviously struggled to get it on. The fur is extra soft and poofy looking as he’d obviously just gotten out of the shower and used the fully body blow dryer that most homes and apartments come with, apparently he hadn’t bothered brushing it. The poor shirt is stretched to max over his lithe but muscular chest, it looks like its ready to pop off his body honestly if he shifts just right, and you have to laugh at how his pecs are slightly pushed together making them look a little plumper than usual from the tight material.

He looks absolutely ridiculous and as much as you want to be mad at him for clearly ruining the shirt, you cant. It’s just too damn funny looking and your heart just finds his silly behavior endearing, you’ll definitely make him buy you a new one but for now as you cackle you send him little laughing emojis back.

It’s not even a minute later that he is video calling you and you immediately fall into another round of laughing as his pouting furry face comes into view and you see hes still wearing the too tight ruined shirt. Wukong scoffs and you can hear the clear offense in his voice as he demands you to tell him how pretty he is because you obviously dont appreciate him dressing up for you.

God you love your silly monkey.

i wasn't 100% sure what exactly to do, so i'm just gonna do some headcanons; i hope that's okay !!

is definitely very, very insecure about the age gap. he worries that he's too old for you, and one day, you're going to realize you want someone closer to your age. it does make him feel better when you reassure him (his love language) that you love him in spite of his age and aren't going anywhere.

he's also always the butt of the joke because of his age. you'll lightly poke fun and call him old when he references something that's before your time, and your friends all refer to him as "grandpa."

you two do not share the same humor. he'll make a joke and die laughing while you're sitting there completely lost (and vice versa).

he claims he's always right because he's "older and wiser" which makes you roll your eyes. he usually is always right, but that's besides the point!

date night is hard to plan because you want to do fun and exciting stuff like party, but he wants to do relaxing and romantic stuff.

you tried to do a cute cooking date once, but he got frustrated because he's such a control freak in the kitchen.

you two argue like an old married couple. looooooots of bickering because he's too mature, and you're very immature.

talks about stuff and asks you to do things that he expects you to know and gets very bitchy when you don't (he's got the sass of a teenage girl)

tries to get you to come to court to see him win at least once, but you find it boring. all the legal jargon and having to sit quietly the whole time makes you want to fall asleep.

finding a show or movie to watch is sooooo difficult because your tastes are so wildly different.

same thing with music. you'll put on a new song you like, and he'll roll his eyes and tell you to put on something actually good (even though half the time he ends up actually liking the song)

he's very worried about what other people will think of your relationship. he loves you and wants to show you off, but he worries that the age gap (completely 100% legal, of course) will rub some people the wrong way.

sometimes, he gets insecure about his grey hairs and wrinkles, but when you tell him how much you love them and how sexy they are, he immediately feels a million times better.

constantly tells you how lucky he is that someone as attractive as you loves an old man like him. he's seriously bewildered why, but he feels so grateful for you. you're everything to him

you make him feel young again, and he loves it.

OumotaWeek2024 "Touch"

(Yes i know its been forever. Its not even like i didn't make it in time. It was finished like two month ago. But i got a job and a lot of other personal stuff happend and i was just to stressed out to waste my energy on something as simple as just posting the drawing. But good news is that i seem to finally find my peace with all the updates in my life. Hopefully i will be more active soon. I had in mind another drawing for oumota week that i really wanted to make. I also think im gonna make something for the latest "13 students remain" chapter(it had me in tears by the end).

Talking about this drawing: It sertenly a new style that i am not used to. Both in lack of layering and sharp colours. But i am nonetheless more then happy with the result. Its been really pleasant time experimenting like this and actually i think i am gonna stick with this new style. Although i have to admit i am not 100% happy with this anatomy and perspective. If someone has some tips or notes i would really appreciate)

Okay what's Deltora quest

Deltora Quest is an Australian book series by Emily Rodda following 3 main characters;

Lief - a 16yo son of a blacksmith. he's very smart and loses his sword so often. backup moves including chucking shit at monsters

Barda - a soldier tasked with keeping Lief alive. He owes Lief's dad and also believes in the Belt of Deltora and he is the token adult

Jasmine - a 16yo girl that the other two meet by chance in a nearby forest. She has lived in the forest her whole life and can talk to animals/trees. She is so violent and i love her

(honorable mention) Kree & Filli - Jasmine's animal companions. Kree is a raven and Filli is some nebulous Furry Animal. like a squirrel or something

The three of them go on a quest through the country of Deltora looking for 7 magical gems that will complete the Belt of Deltora, a magical artifact that only works (fully) for the true heir of Deltora. Using the belt will help drive out the evil Shadow Lord from Deltora and end his reign of tyranny!!

There are so many fucked up monsters in these books and there are so many riddles too. I again have not read them in years (currently rereading the first one). My favorite book as a kid was City of the Rats because Lief almost gets eaten alive by a swarm of rats

Also they made a manga/anime of Deltora Quest and while its not super accurate to the books, it is a fun way to get the main points of the plot for anyone who doesn't have the time/energy to read at least 7 books (and apparently the two sister series I didn't know existed until this week)
