Hello! So i have this idea for iswm and i would love to request it!
Ok like its canon that the captain is attractive, right? Then how about a fic where one of the crew members have a camera, and so like they have this secret competition for pictures with the captain? And the picture where the captain does something most attractive wins. Maybe there is a picture where the captain folds their arms in a cool way or maybe a picture where the captain puts an arm around a crew's shoulder which made them freak out the rest of the week and that picture wins. The captain is not aware of the competition, but the captain is aware that they are seen as attractive, so they didn't mind when people wanted to take pictures with them. In the end, the captain finds out about the competition, they're like "oh.. so that's what this is about?" And they just laugh it off, playing along and saying flirty stuff like "you're really swooning over me doing that, huh? I could've done more, but i don't think you're all ready for that"
Oof im sorry if this is too long or too detailed. I had this idea for a while and think it would be pretty cute haha
Capture the moment ( ISWM Mark X Captain)
+Main 3 crew simping for the captain
Summary- Mark, Gunther, CC, and Burt have a competition to see who can get the best photo of the captain looking good. The captain knows they are taking pictures of them, but not why. When the captain finds out Mark gets more than winning the competition.
TW's- LONG ( about 3,000 words), pictures being taken of captain but they don't mind, being caught kissing, very slight sexual innuendo if you squint, flirty captain, the crew simping for the captain, just fluff.

Thank you so much for requesting, I had so much fun with this (maybe too much it is kinda long). I've been obsessed with ISWM rn and I've been itching to write for him. I was so excited to get this request! I mostly followed it, just kept it to the main crew ( Mostly) and it's mostly pictures of just the captain but you can imagine there were a few with the crew! I'm super happy with this and hope you enjoy it. Also, Mark Isn't written as Actor in this, but you can read it however you want!
Thanks for requesting anon <3
Everyone on the Invincible II knew your name. You are the kind and strong captain, who knows what they're doing, everyone respects you. Though their respect for you was not why they would (on occasion literally) throw themselves at you. You were very aware that the crew found you very attractive, it was no secret. So when the crew started to take photos of you, you didn’t give it too much thought. If it made them happy, you didn’t mind at all.
What you didn’t know was that there was a competition going on.
About a week ago Burt, Gunther, CC and Mark were working on the computer, while you went around the ship to check in with the rest of the crew. For some reason the computer started to glitch and it affected all of the areas of the ship, so Mark had them come in and help reset part of the system.
While Mark and Gunther were reprogramming the computer, CC and Burt talked. Burt was certainly a well spoken man ( At times ) and it seemed today he was going on about the beauty of space. CC didn’t mind listening at all, and quite enjoyed it. She (too often) had to deal with Mark and Gunthers yelling and Burts tangents were a nice change of pace.
Burt moved from his place by CC to in front of the window, outlooking the stars. CC followed and as she took her place next to him he said
“ Space is home to my lonely heart. When times are rough and I wonder if it was worth it to come to space I think of a poem my Grandmother would tell me,” He paused, a soft smile on his face, “On foot,I had to cross the solar system. before I found the first thread of my red dress. I sense myself already. Somewhere in space hangs my heart, shaking in the void, from it stream sparks,into other intemperate hearts.” CC placed a hand over her heart after hearing the beautiful poem.
“ A beautiful poem by Edith Sodergan.” he continued, “ Space is truly a beautiful wonder.” As he finished he pulled out a small camera from his pocket and snapped a photo.
 This initially got the attention of Mark and Gunther to CC’s disappointment. Mark snapped his head up and to no one's surprise hit his head on the underside of the monitor.
Gunther after laughing at Mark, turned to Burt asking,
“ Burt, How long have ya had that camera?”  He slid a cigar into his mouth and lit it. Burt shrugged his shoulder, “ The whole time, I don’t know how you havent noticed I wasn’t exactly hiding it. “
CC shook her head and answered, “ It's because these two knuckle heads were too focused on trying to blow things up.” Mark of course was offended, but before he could make a comeback Gunther put a hand over his mouth.
“ Ya think we could see the photos that you have on there, eh Burt.” He asked, seeing it was a digital camera. Burt nodded and put the picture up on a small tablet that was in the room.
Most of them were of the crew or parts of the reactor, but one stood out to all of them.
It was a picture of you, their captain, with a soft smile on your face on the bridge looking out onto space. The light of a nearby moon illuminated your features with a soft glow. Almost immediately they were asking Burt if he had any more pictures of the captain. He did not, but he said he could take more.
“ Well what If we want to take a picture of Captain, I’m sure I could get an amazing candid being their second hand and always being around them.” Mark stated, hands on his hips. CC shook her head,
“ Yeah we’d let you take pictures if we wanted blurry unfocused shots. You know nothing about cameras, Mark.” She argued, “ I, on the other hand, have experience with cameras, considering I set up the security cameras in each of the cryo pods.”  Gunther let out a hefty laugh at this.
“ Like you’d be able to hold the camera steady. Obviously I'd be the best for the job, I’m great at targeting and holding things steady. “ Gunther said waving a gun, “ I also have quite the experience in “shooting””. Everyone let out a groan at the bad pun. CC offered a solution,
“ Well, How about this? Everyday someone gets to have the camera and we can all try to get good photos of the captain. “ Burt shrugged and pointed out, “ Not like that would be hard, They are quite stunning.”  The others shook their heads in agreement.
Mark’s face then lit up, and he said “ What if we made it a competition? Whoever gets the best picture of the captain they win. “ Gunther shook his head,
“Burt would obviously win, it's his camera, he knows it best.” Gunther agured, and Burt shook his head and offered,
“ What if it’s whoever captures the captain's beauty/ and or handsomeness best?” Burt offered.
Everyone one else murmured agreements.
Mark clapped his hands together, “ Then It’s settled whoever has the best picture of the captain wins.”
On the first day CC had the camera. The majority of her pictures were of you working. Her favorite picture was of you looking over the colonist being illuminated by the cool lighting of the room as you placed a gloved hand on the window fog around your body. She had been pretty confident she was going to win this.
The next day was Gunther. He spent the whole day making you laugh and smile, mostly illuminated by the light of the ADS system. He was scheduled to show you how well the ADS was working and this meant you and him watching a bunch of asteroids get blown up by big ass lazers.
The smile on your face when he handed you the control and let you shoot a few asteroids down was amazing and a close second to his favorite. You had put down the control and smirked as you looked at the destroyed steroids with your arms crossed. You looked like you came straight out of an action movie that for some reason would always cast the most attractive people to be the main character. Gunther had to take a picture.
You knew they were taking pictures of you, it was obvious. You didn't mind though, you would love to have pictures to remember the time in space. (Not like you would forget but still).You didn’t try to pose though, You had important work as captain and couldn't be posing all day as much fun as that would be.
As the next day came it was finally Mark’s turn, to say he was excited was an understatement. He was practically bouncing off of the walls and this put you in a good mood. Mark was always positive but seeing him excited made you happy. It reminded you of how amazing it was that you were both here in space.
As the day went on Mark took pictures everywhere and of everything you did. He had a picture of you sleepy and drinking your coffee, but he also had a picture of you giving out orders with a kind but determined look on your face. He wasn’t lying when he said he would take candids of you. He had one of you sipping your coffee and looking at him from the mug, one of you giving finger guns to Gunther. He was so proud of them all, but then the best picture came.
You were walking to Life support, a small hobby of yours was tending to the plants in there when you had free time. Though as you opened the door you saw Burt’s second hand Tyler. Much like Burt he was calmer and more kept to himself, so you were surprised to see him there. It was after what was considered the “Work” day for them, which is why you were wearing a simple black shirt and your normal black pants. Mark usually hung around you after the work day had ended, not that you minded at all.
“ Oh Hello Tyler, what brings you here?” you asked picking up a watering can, Tyler rubbed the back of his neck standing in front of an area that held plants.
“ Well Captain, while Burt and I were collecting samples from passing planets we found something that I thought you might enjoy.” Tyler blushed a bit , “ This is just a gift from Burt and I thank you for being a good captain. “
Tyler stepped to the side and it was revealed he had planted a glowing white flower, shaped similarly to your favorite flower. You placed a hand over your heart, as you walked over to the plant.
“ We did scans and we are a hundred precent sure it is safe to have aboard.” he said as you gently ran your fingers over a petal, the petal turning your favorite color. ( Mark did take a picture of this of course).
You stood up with a soft smile, you wrapped an arm around his shoulder in kind of a side hug and said, “Thank you, this means alot to me Tyler.” Your kind eyes sparkled, colors from different plants lit your face, but the most noticeable was the glow of the new flower. Mark quickly took a picture, and then for the first time that day put the camera away and watched with a smile. He thought you deserve so much more than you're willing to accept, so it’s nice seeing this. A soft smile covered his face as he looked at your beaming smile, no picture could ever do you justice. There was no way to capture the feeling of the moment with a camera.
You released Tyler to get a closer look at the flower and Mark had to stifle a laugh. Tyler stood there face red, mouth slightly agape, and his body as stiff as a board. Mark put a hand on his shoulder. Tyler turned to him and quietly but quickly said,
“ I’ve gotta go.” Tyler rushed out of the room, Mark shrugged and turned back to you.
The rest of the night was you two talking about plants in the life support room.
The next day it was Burt's turn. He mostly took pictures of you interacting with the crew. Though he did get a nice photo of you looking at the reactor, which he personally loved. He wasn’t able to take many pictures as it was a busy day, though it was worth it to have the next day “off”.
As the next day rolled around it was finally time to look at the pictures of you and it was fair to say everyone was excited. You had no idea what was going on as of the moment. They had all decided to meet in the cafeteria and go through the photos.
The whole time they were commenting about how amazing you looked, and how it was crazy how you looked this good all of the time. Light blushes on each of their cheeks as they went through the photos. That was until they landed on Mark’s photo of you on life support.
Everyone's jaws dropped as they looked at the photo. Everything was amazing, your smile, slight blush, your casual clothes, and the lights dancing in your eyes.
As if on cue you walked into the cafeteria and saw the group of people. You walked over and placed a hand on Mark’s shoulder,
“ Hey, what’s going on….” Your voice drifted off as you saw what they were all looking at. You blushed a bit and motioned for Mark to move so you could sit next to him, which he did.
“ Wow, I didn't think I could look that good.” you commented. You then asked Burt,
“ Do you think I could look at them?” You were aware Burt had a camera and would occasionally take pictures, but considering the amount of time you saw that camera the last week you were curious.
They handed you the camera and you started to go through the photos, they were all of you? A surprised look appeared on your face,
“ Not that I mind much, but is there a reason why there are so many pictures of me?” you asked light heartedly, before continuing “ If you wanted to get a close look you all could’ve just asked.” you let a small smirk fall on your face, as the rest of them blushed.
“ Uh, well, Captain, we all had a competition to see who could get the best picture of you.” CC said, and Gunther interrupted with,
“ We all thought we could get the hottest picture of you and so we had a competition is what she really means cap’n”
You let out a little laugh, “ Oh, so that's what this is about huh?” They nodded their heads yes, and your smirk turned into a smile.
“ Well I must say, I am flattered you all.” you then looked down at the picture of you that Gunther took with your arms crossed,
“ So you find me doing my job hot , huh? ” you teased Gunther and for the first time he went speechless.You let out a small laugh,
 Though you found yourself looking at a picture Mark took of just you looking at the plants..
“ I was just looking at plants.” You turned to mark with a smirk, “ you're really swooning over me looking at plants, huh? I could've done more than look at plants with you Mark, but I don't think you're ready for that yet, head engineer" You winked and slung an arm around his shoulders. Mark turned red, the other laughed a bit. Though the conversation quickly changed to possibly taking some pictures of other crew members and printing out the picture they took.As the conversation went on you eventually removed your arm from Mark’s shoulders. Though Mark couldn’t hear any of the conversation.
His senses were overwhelmed by you, your stunning smile, eyes shining brighter than any star, and your calming voice that sounded like heaven to him. He could smell the body mist you wore everyday, the one he got you as a gift. As if he wasn’t yearning for you enough, you turned to him and gave him a soft smile. He took a deep breath as you placed your hand over his, moving to sit closer to him. All he could feel was your leg pressed against his and your hand on his. Your ungloved hand holding his. He honestly thought he was going to explode, the one coherent thought he was able to form was,
“ I think I love them.”
Eventually the others left to enjoy their day off. Not that Mark noticed, all he noticed was you turning to him.
“ You okay Mark? You were unusually silent.” you asked, he gulped and spoke
“ Yeah, um, yeah I’m doing great captain.” you blushed a bit before saying,
“ Uh, I wanted to say this sooner but I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable earlier with my flirting. “ A sheep smile on your face. Mark’s eyes wided before he shook his head and exclaimed,
“ No, No, No I was absolutely comfortable with it, captain. It was amazing, You're amazing.” his face turned red as he registered what he said. Before he could say anything you looked at him in surprise, before quickly taking his hand and leading him to the life support room. You needed to be alone with him for this.
“ I’m sorry I didn-” marked started before you cut him off,
“ Did you mean it?” you asked,
“ Mean what?” he questioned
“ Do you …think I'm amazing?” you clarified and gently took his hand standing in front of him. Mark took a deep breathe before answering,
“ I do, you're the most amazing person I know. You're kind, strong, funny, smart and loyal. You're the best captain, but you're also the best person I know.” He gently raised the hand that was holding his and pressed a kiss to your knuckles.
“ You are so stunning in so many ways. You have no idea what you mean to me (y/n).” he stated, using your real name for the first time in a long time.
Your voice went soft as you said, “ Mark, I- “ you paused stepping closer.
“ Tell me if this is crossing a line, but I think I love-” before you could finish your sentence Mark pulled you into him and kissed you. He placed a hand on your lower back and one on your face cradling your cheek. Your arms wrapped around his body as you both shared a gentle but passionate kiss. You leaned into him, trying to be impossibly close to him. He did the same as he moved his hand to the back of your neck and tilted your head gently making the kiss more passionate than gentle. He started to back you up when-
“CLICK”
You and Mark pulled back to see Burt and the others standing there. Mark let an annoyed look cross his face , as a  blush covered your face. Gunther chuckled then said,
“ Oh don't mind us Cap’n, we're just capturing the moment. “ You then provided to hide your face in Mark’s chest. Mark shook his head before grabbing your hand and leading you out of the room and to your private office. ( Which you didn’t use very much).
You let out a groan and say,
“ Oh stars Mark, that was so embarrassing, what are they going to think of me?” you then shook your head, “ I mean I’m not ashamed to be with you or anything it’s just we got walked in on.”
You let out another groan of embarrassment as Mark laughed lightly and pressed a kiss to your head.
“ It’s a little embarrassing, but at least now we can’t be interrupted.” He said as he leaned in for another kiss, you happily met him in the middle.

Peter’s intensity did not let up. If anything, he grew more insistent and more suffocating. After the pool, there was the bed, then the shower, then another romp that kept you from logging into your work email. You were sore and drained by the time you laid down, too exhausted to try to wriggle away from him as he joined you and kept his arm over you as you drifted off.
You woke to him drinking coffee and looking out at the lush property. He wore only a pair of short boxers, his muscles lined perfectly along his bent arm and firm stomach. You let out a soft breath and rolled onto your back.
Your thighs brushed together and made you squirm. You thought once he had his fun, he might let up. You could not predict this man in anything.
“You want a coffee?” he asked as he turned away from the windows, “I’ll send for one. Latte? Mocha?”
“Mmmph,” you grumbled and sat up carefully.
Those cocktails went down too easy and added to the weight in your head and limbs. The alcohol made him bearable, made your new reality palatable. You were naked still. You held the sheet to your chest and he went to the dresser and pulled out the drawer with his free hand. He dangled the long camisole gown before you as he neared.
“I hate to cover such a pretty woman up but I think we’ve exposed my staff to enough of our fun,” he held the thin straps over a single finger.
You reached for it and he drew it just away from your grasp. He bent and his dark eyes clung to yours, “not a good morning kiss?” he taunted.
You leaned forward and pecked his lips. He purred and stood, draping the silk over your lap.
“So, coffee?” he asked again.
“With just a little milk,” you answered as you pulled on the nightgown and turned your legs over the edge of the bed. Every part of you was stiff, “thank you.”
“You’re learning, princess,” he praised, “such sweet manners.”
You stood and crossed your arms. He chuckled and nudged your chin with his knuckle playfully. He pulled on a robe and knotted it loosely around his body. He went to the door and hit the button right beside the frame. A knock came shortly and he handed over his empty mug and requested one for you.
“I was thinking, we’d extend our stay a while,” he said as he turned back to the room, “I need a break from the city… but if you’re good, I’ll let you invite your friends. They’re nice girls.”
“Is that a suggestion or an order?” you asked dully.
“Both,” he smirked at you as he came closer and wrapped his arms around you, “you’re starting to get it, princess.”
You searched his face and held back a sigh. His brown eyes were smokey as his hands slipped down to your ass.
“I’ll need them around to distract my guests,” he purred.
“Guests?” you turned your arms and planted them firmly against his chest as he bent to kiss your neck. He ignored you easily as he swayed you with him.
“I was woken up early by a call,” he spoke against your skin, his lips sending shivers through you, “we got today and tomorrow, then those two goons will be joining us. I can get away but…” he raised his head and ran his hands up your sides and along your arms, pulled them over his shoulders, “business is business… we can still fit in a little play.”
You stiffened and swallowed. Your brows furrowed and you slanted your lips as you looked past him.
“You mean Bucky?”
“And Steve,” he filled in, “you don’t get one without the other.”
“I thought you guys were all… sorted out,” you said quietly.
“Ah, princess, you don’t know the half of it,” he cooed, “let’s keep it that way. Better for everyone.”
You nodded. He was right, you knew whatever he did was unsavoury and you didn’t need the details. You knew what he was capable of. A flash of fear went through you as you recalled the barrel of his gun pointed at you.
“I don’t wanna do that again, princess,” he uttered as if he could read your mind, “so… let’s not. Give the girls a call.”
A tap came at the door and he parted. He opened it and took the mug from the servant and brought it to you. You took it as the scent promised to fend off the ache behind your eye. You sat in one of the upholstered chairs and took a cautious sip. He watched you with a grin and bit his lip.
“Better finish that fast,” he warned, “coffee stains don’t come easy.”
You eyed him as he pushed open his robe and you saw the bulge twitch in his boxers. You kept your face placid, not wanting to provoke him. What exactly were you holding onto? He already had your whole life in the palm of his hand.
Halle was more than overjoyed to accept your invitation but Molly passed as she wanted to hang out with Charlie. Desiree said it would be good for her as her co-worker turned out to be a total waste of time.
You hated that you were doing this to your own friends; using them as bait. Peter made it clear that they were welcome only on the condition that they could be an ends to his means. ‘Tell them to bring bikinis’, he insisted before you made the call.
Your second morning at the beach house was just as heavy as the first. The day before was filled with Peter’s incessant touching and another dip in the pool that ended in his delight. The staff was set to cleaning the pool once more in preparation of the guests. You were embarrassed as the servers, cleaners, and chef were all too aware of your activities.
Peter left you after a quick shower and you were thankful for the chance to wash on your own. He pecked your lips as he held his phone to his ear and squeezed your ass before he went.
You stood beneath the steamy stream of the faucet and melted beneath it. You came out slightly refreshed and wrapped yourself in a plush towel.
You went into the bedroom and sorted through the second drawer as you searched for something more comfortable than showy. There wasn’t much you could categorize as practical. You heard the door creak and didn’t look up as droplets cooled on your arms and you pulled a yellow sun dress out of the closet instead.
“That’s a good colour for you,” the voice made you freeze and you glanced over at the open door.
You assumed it was Peter or the wind, but the man who filled the doorframe with his thick shoulders, made your chest tight. Bucky stood with his arm against the wood as he leaned nonchalantly and leered at you.
“Wh-when did you get here?” you stuttered as you held your towel tight and shielded yourself with the dress.
“Just a couple minutes ago,” he smiled, “I was just looking for the bathroom but…” he tilted his head as his voice trailed off and his eyes ventured down your body, “...think I found something better.”
“Get out,” you hissed, “or I’ll shout.”
“Why? I’m not doing anything… just watching,” his lips curled lasciviously, “and you are fun to watch.”
“What-- I said, get out, Bucky,” you snarled as you stomped over to him.
You pushed on his thick arm, the muscle firm as it peeked out from beneath his short-sleeve button-up. He didn’t budge as he loomed over you.
“Your man likes to treat me like some errand boy. Sent me off to keep an eye on you. Boring, at first, all those months following you around to cafes and grocery stores,” he reached out and cradled your chin. You tried to pull away but he gripped your jaw firmly and held you in place, “but those things you do when you think you’re all alone… I was tempted to lend a hand but… business.”
“Don’t fucking touch me,” you grabbed his wrist and wrenched it away, “I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about--”
“That little pink dildo, well, not very little is it?” he licked his bottom lip, “I thought he would’ve told you. He’s a careful man. He plans ahead. I respect that, at least.”
“Go!” you shoved him in mortification, “or I’ll scream right now and you know Peter won’t be happy--”
“Calm down, little girl,” he scoffed, “don’t get so worked up. I’m not that stupid…” he squared his jaw and raised a brow wryly, “but he will get careless and I’ll still be watching.”
He winked and turned away slowly. You quickly closed the door as he retreated down the hallway and you locked it with a shaky hand. You staggered back blindly and sat heavily on the cushioned bench at the foot of the bed.
How long had Bucky been hounding you? How long had Peter had his eye on you? Your heart raced at the realisation of how deep in you truly were. You could deal with one, but two? You were well and truly fucked.
You tried to hide in the bedroom until your friend arrived but Peter dragged you out to welcome his guests over breakfast by the pool. You sat quietly and picked at the fruit plate until they excused themselves for more business. You were grateful as you didn’t miss Bucky’s fleeting looks.
Halle and Desiree arrived just after noon. The men were locked away in the parlor so you greeted them as they approached the walk, beach bags on their arms and rolling suitcases bouncing up the stones.
“Oh my god, girl,” Halle chirped, “he sent a car and everything.”
“Thank god, my old piece of shit wouldn’t have made it this far,” Desiree added, “oh, you look so good. I love that dress.”
“Thanks,” you sniffed, “um, I hope you guys don’t mind staying on the second floor. Peter’s staff just got the rooms ready--”
“Staff?” Halle swooned, “you hooked in a real sugar daddy.”
“No, I-- Halle,” you sneered, “it’s not--”
“I’m teasing,” she giggled, “but come on, look at this place.”
“Mm, well there is another hitch,” you said as you led them inside.
Two staff members approached and offered to take their bags. They gave you silent looks of amazement as they handed over their luggage and you rolled your eyes.
“So, what’s the hitch? Don’t tell me the pools out of order,” Desiree whined.
“No, pool’s just been cleaned, but… we have company,” you said tritely, “couple of Peter’s… friends. I’m sure they won’t bother you but--”
“Are they hot?” Halle asked.
“Are you serious?” you blinked.
“I’m so serious. I need to get laid. Bad.”
“And a stranger is the best choice for that?” you scoffed.
“If he’s cute,” she shrugged.
“It’s an important question,” Desiree seconded, “I can’t keep dating boys. You won’t believe what this asshole did.”
“I dunno,” you waved off the question, “how about I show you around first and then we can get to all that later.”
“Ooo, yes,” Halle clapped, “this place is huge.”
“Alright, well, we can’t go in the parlour right now but you won’t really be in there anyway,” you ushered them forward, “the pool’s just through here…”
When at last the girls were settled in, you waited by the pool as they went to change into their suits. You requested some drinks from the staff and thanked them profusely as you felt entirely out of place asking anything of them. The fruity margaritas were left on the round table as you sat in the middle of a lounger.
“Uh, this place is gorgeous,” Halle declared as she came through the sliding doors, “oh my god, are those for us?”
You nodded as she swiped up a drink and sipped noisily from the straw. Desiree took her own but side-eyed Halle, “It’s barely one o’clock, slow down,” she chirped.
“It’s a vacation! Sort of. I had to use sick time for this so no Insta please,” Halle sang, “I can’t wait to get in.”
She set down her glass and strode over to the pool. She slid out of her sandals and dipped her toes in. She surprised you as suddenly she dove in and sent up a splash of water. Desiree giggled as she swallowed her mouthful and placed her drink beside Halle’s and raced over to join her.
You dragged yourself to your feet and sat at the side of the pool with only your legs in the water.
“Come on, don’t be such a party pooper,” Desiree splashed you.
“I’m not, I’m just… all pooled out right now,” you shrugged, “you guys have fun, I’m just happy to have you here.”
It wasn’t a lie. In those last two days when it was just you and Peter, you felt so completely isolated. Even if they were there to act as diversions, you were reassured to have a glimpse of your former life.
“You ladies look like you’re having fun,” Peter’s voice startled you and you looked over your shoulder as he emerged from the house, “drinking already?” He was dressed in his trunks already, “I hope you don’t mind, the guys were hoping to hop in too.”
“The guys,” Halle giggled.
“I told them we had company,” you assured Peter, “and uh, you know Halle, but this is Desiree.”
“A pleasure,” he said as he neared and sat beside you, “why aren’t you in there with them?”
“I will get in, I’m just… enjoying the sun.”
He hummed and put his hand over yours on the rim of the pool, “you okay?” he lowered his voice.
You squinted at him and nodded. He didn’t really care if you weren’t okay. He was only telling you to start acting like it.
You heard the others before they appeared. Peter introduced them as they came out and the girls were all too happy to have them sink into the pool with them. Peter nudged you and you slipped over the edge and he quickly followed. He caught you as you broke the surface and held you to him.
“They’re getting along,” he intoned.
“I still don’t get it,” you pressed against his chest as he waded you over to the other side of the pool, “why do you need them?”
“Part of the deal,” he said, “they want some fun too.”
“What? You mean--”
“The girls seem willing. They’re pretty enough and I wouldn’t say Bucky or Steve are hideous,” Peter chuckled, “it works for everyone.”
“You’re whoring out my friends for a deal?” you spat.
“Now, princess, watch it,” he curled his lip, “I’ve been patient, haven’t I?” he leaned into you and squished you between him and the wall of the pool, “if I was a worse man, I’d just let them have a taste of you… but you’re mine,” he kissed you roughly and drew back, “and so long as you are, you will only be mine. Understood?”
You swallowed and nodded. He relaxed and kept his arm around you as he came parallel to the pool wall and floated beside you. Steve and Desiree were chattering as she came back to the pool with her drink and Halle gabbed on at Bucky but his eyes weren’t on her. He smirked as he watched you and slowly dropped his gaze to your roommate.
“Maybe Bucky will chill out a little,” Peter grumbled as he pushed himself away from the side of the pool.
“Mm, maybe,” you let him pull you with him as he waded around the middle of the pool.
“Don’t worry so much,” he chided.
“How can I not? I hardly know these men and these are my friends, Peter,” you hissed, “I should’ve known.”
“And if you had, you still would have done what I said, princess,” he snipped, “why are you doing this? Everyone’s having fun so join the party.”
You thinned your lips and forced a smile. His eyes narrowed and he latched onto your arm. He pulled you with him to the large round steps along the far corner and you tried not to slip as you climbed out of the water. The others were too distracted to notice and as you glanced back, you found Desiree with her tongue down Steve’s throat.
“You don’t wanna have fun with them,” Peter dragged you into the house, “then we can have some of our own.”
“Not right now, Peter, please--”
“Listen, princess,” he spun and pulled you to him, “you’re not getting this. I’ve been nice. I bring you to my nice house, I send a car for your friends, I get you off… you need to start using that head instead of your mouth…” he eyed your lips, “well, the mouth is good for some things.”
You quivered in disgust and he turned as he forced you further down the hallway. He flung you through the bedroom door and you barely caught yourself on a chair. The door slammed as your damp feet slipped on the floor and you stood to face him.
“I’ve done you all these favours so you can do me one,” he hooked his thumbs in his shorts and pulled them down over the protrusion of his arousal.
You glanced away and he closed the distance between you. He grabbed your chin and made you look at him. He kissed you roughly and shoved you away. He stormed over to the bed and flopped down, his cock bobbing as he moved to recline against the pillows and exhaled loudly.
“Well…” he said.
You stared at him and the bitterness laced your muscles. You huffed and walked to the bed slowly. He stroked himself tauntingly as he smirked at you. You put a knee on the bed and braced yourself. There was a moment you were ready to run and not look back, but your friends were in his pool and the vision of his pistol pulsed in your head.
You climbed up and crawled to him. You sat back on your heels, just between his legs and he tutted, “now, princess, don’t give me that look.”
You wiped the anger from your face and closed your eyes. You grasped his dick and his hand fell away. You moved your hand up then down and tamped down your reservations. You bent over him and your lashes fluttered as your lips pressed to his tip. He gasped at the soft sensation and you stretched your lips around him.
He groaned and put his hand on your shoulder as he urged you down. He met the back of your throat and you eased back, wetting his length to ease the tension in your jaw. He gripped the back of your head impatiently and you strained to let him further as he invaded your throat. You gagged and he let you back only for a moment before he forced you back down.
You followed his motion, fast and deep, until the spit dripped down him and across your face. You clung to his thigh as you breathed with each retreat only to be smothered again. Your throat burned as your jaw ached as you kept your tongue firm to his length. The sloppy sucking mingled with his lusty moans and he held your head between both hands as he thrust from below.
He stopped you suddenly. Your head spun as he lifted you off of him and sat up to kiss you messily. He pushed you over as he got to his knees. You fell back and bounced on the bed as he parted your legs, bending on over his as he moved to straddle the other. You laid at an angle as his hand slid up your stomach to your neck.
He squeezed lightly as he pulled aside the crotch of your suit and angled his dick against your cunt. You moaned as he filled you and pressed his thumb to your clit. He kept his hand at your throat as he held you down and jerked his hips sharply. He jolted your body with each decisive thrust as he watched your face.
“You like sucking my dick, princess? Makes you so wet, huh?” he growled.
You grabbed his hand but he only gripped your throat more firmly. He bit down as he sped up, the mattress shaking beneath you with each tilt of his hips. He rammed into you hard and harder, your leg stretched up his torso as he kept astride your other.
He teased and toyed with your clit as he fucked you. You choked out raspy moans as the coil wound tight inside of you and your muscles knotted around him. Your eyes rolled back as you slapped at his bicep and clawed deep into his flesh as you came. You squirmed in your orgasm and he sped up.
He pulled his hand from your throat to hold your leg to his body. He kept playing with your bud as you groped your chest senselessly and your voice rose unrestrained around you. His deep grunt punctuated each airy cry from your lips and the entire bed rocked beneath your bodies.
“That’s it, that’s it,” he snarled, “oh, princess, that’s it.”
He sank deep and pulled his hips back in a series of cruel thrusts that made your hips throb painfully. Your walls squeezed him as you came again and you milked him as he spent himself inside of you. He slowed and stopped as he hung his head and the muscles in his chest and arms tautened.
“Shit,” he breathed and slipped out of you, flinching as his tip brushed against you.
You stayed as you were as he let your leg fall to the bed and he sat between your legs and pushed his hair away from his face. He sighed and shook out his arms as if to free himself of the tension.
“You’re so good, princess,” he felt along your cunt and played with his cum as it seeped from you, “aren’t you?”
Shamefully, you left the room in a new swimsuit. The former was stained from Peter’s punishment and after cleaning up, he forced you out with a fake smile. You emptied your margarita and ordered another with less reticence than before. Steve and Desiree had disappeared as Bucky humoured Halle’s flirting on one of the loungers.
Dinner was awkward enough as you weren’t foolish enough to think that no one noticed or heard your absence. You emptied three more glasses and Peter excused the two of you as he kept you from a fourth. You wobbled back to the room ahead of him and fell onto the bed without changing out of your shorts and shirt.
“You’re mad again?” you bubbled drunkenly.
“You’re drunk,” he said as removed his watch and unbuttoned his shirt, “I don’t like that.”
“You don’t, ha?” you rolled onto your back, “that first night you had no problem feeling me up while I was--
“Princess,” he snapped, “you can only blame the drink for so much.”
“You’re an ass,” you slurred and turned your back to him.
He huffed and the light went out. You felt the mattress dip behind you as he lowered himself next to you. He was stiff and didn’t try to touch you.
“I should spank you for that,” he muttered, “but you’re so fucking lit you wouldn’t remember it.”
“I feel good,” you murmured, “for once.”
He pinched you and the bed jostled as he rolled onto his side.
“Go to sleep,” he ordered.
He didn’t need to tell you twice as the alcohol weighted your eyelids and you were soon snoring carelessly into the pillow.
You woke with a start as your stomach churned. It was still late as you clamoured out of the bed and ran for the bathroom. You hugged the bowl as you retched into it. Your body revolted and the alcohol came up with your dinner.
You shuddered as you caught your breath and flushed. You rinsed your mouth and steady yourself as you veins were thick from excess.
You stumbled back into the bedroom. Peter was asleep. His even breath rasped up into the dark. It was a rare moment of peace unsettled only by the memory of the day. You recalled his reproach before you fell asleep, you knew that wouldn’t be the end of it.
You groaned and crept to the door and let yourself out quietly into the hall. You went to the kitchen, tiptoeing through the dark, and filled a glass with water. You sipped but a noise pricked your ears. You listened as you kept your lips on the rim and drank to ease the fire in your stomach.
You followed the sound until it was too late to retreat. The whimpers and groans mixed and sent a tingle through you as you realised what was happening. You stopped in shock, frozen as you found Bucky and Halle in the immense front room. He had her bent over a round ottoman, her fingers curled at the seam as he rutted into her from behind.
She squealed each thrust as her head hung over the other side of the cushion. “Slow down,” she wisped, “please, I told you-- ugh, I never done it like this be--”
She cried out and bit into the cushion as he slapped her ass and fucked her harder, his other hand stretched between her shoulder blades. You took a step back and the movement caught his eye. He looked up and held your gaze as his face contorted into a sinister grin.
He sped up as he reached to smother her wails and held your gaze. You gripped the glass tightly and trembled as you backed away from the doorway. You spun and raced back to your room and tripped through the door.
You crashed to the floor and the glass shattered as water splashed around you. Peter sat up with a snort and reached to flip on the lamp at the bedside.
“What’s going on?” he asked sleepily.
“Just getting water,” you croaked as you sat back on your heels in the midst of the broken glass.
“Shit, did you cut yourself?” he asked as he saw you.
“No, no, I’m okay but-- stay there, you’ll get hurt. I’m close enough, I can… I’ll clean it up… I’m sorry.”
He stared at you and slowly nodded. The anger crinkled in his forehead and you stood carefully.
“So, now we know not to drink like that, huh?” he girded.
“I said, I’m sorry.”
“Mmhmm,” he leaned back against the headboard, “go on, princess, clean up your mess.”

What he didn't know is that they are scared of deep dark waters and almost drown and sirius saves them? Fluffy fluffy ending please?
I hope you have a good day!~

“Please enjoy your dinner and relax this evening!”
You sat with your friends, directly next to Sirius while Dumbledore’s voice boomed through the Great Hall, food appearing down the table in front of you.
There were only a couple days left of your sixth year at Hogwarts, the summer holiday so close you could reach out and grab it.
“So what are we doing after dinner?” James asked.
You grabbed a spoonful of mashed potatoes, starting to make a plate of food for yourself. “How about we hang out by the lake?”
James quickly swapped his plate for yours, leaving you to give him a lovely middle finger.
“Prongs,” Sirius chastised as you laughed. You laid a head on his shoulder, telling him it was harmless.
Your boyfriend pushed his own plate over in front of you, urging you to sit up and eat.
James shrugged his shoulders, promptly digging into the wonderful food in front of him.
“Y/n,” Lily started. “I really like that idea. We can all go—”
“But y/n never swims,” Peter cut her off, nearly whining.
“Yeah, it’s not fun without you,” James added. “Why can’t you just go in for even a little bit?”
You glared at the two of them. “Absolutely not.”
Sirius grabbed your hand under the table, squeezing it before placing a kiss to the top of your head. “You better not have just gotten crumbs in my hair,” you whispered, shoving his shoulder.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You stepped outside, hand in hand with Sirius as the warm glow of the sun setting lay a blanket on the world around you. Your friends had already made their way out here, the only reason you two are arriving now is because of the boy next to you.
“C’mon, I need to go back to my dorm. I wanna bring a towel in case I decide to go in.”
“Well do you want to swim or not?” you asked.
“I haven’t decided yet,” he laughed.
“You are the most indecisive person I know, Sirius,” you took his hand, following him up to Gryffindor tower.
“Am not.”
“You are,” you laughed. “Well I’m deciding to lay out, maybe read a book. I’ve also decided that I’m stealing a blanket.”
“Hey, stop rubbing your decision making skills in.”
“Oh, and I’ve decided I’m stealing a jumper.”
He gave a dramatic frown.
You gave a quick kiss on the side of his cheek as he stepped through the portrait hole.
“Well can I at least pick which jumper you steal?”
“Hmm, I don’t know if you’d be able to decide which one.”
You spotted your friends and they waved, casting you smiles from the lake.
Sirius dropped your hand, skipping a couple steps to be in front of you, walking backwards.
“I have a question for you, y/n.”
“Ask away,” you sighed, a smile curling at the corners of your mouth.
“Be honest. Would you still give me a hug if I were to have just gotten out of the water? A kiss perhaps?”
You burst out laughing. “No. No way. Not when I’m perfectly dry.”
“Well maybe we’ll have to test out that theory.”
You deadpanned. “You’re hilarious.”
“I am, aren’t I?”
You spread out your blanket, lying down and soaking in what the sun had to offer before setting completely.
Sirius made his way to the water before the light had disappeared entirely. You closed your eyes, enjoying some much needed rest.
You didn’t know how long you’d been asleep for, and it didn’t really matter now. All you knew that you were hovering over the lake. You had to be dreaming.
You couldn’t tell how high up you were, you were barely able to make out the silhouettes of your friends.
“Ha-ha, very funny!” you called out. “You can put me down now.”
James’s voice echoed up to you. “What? You don’t want to come in for a little swim with us?”
You looked down and saw his little grasp on his wand as he controlled how far you were from falling.
“James, please put me down on the grass.”
You could hear it in his voice. You could hear how he expected this to just be a harmless little prank of his.
“But it will be much funnier if you plop into the water. Just a small plink.”
He didn’t even give you time to respond before you were plummeting into the lake. Your friends were further away than they seemed to be. James had thrown his head back in laughter, ignoring you. Ignoring how fear took over your body, making it nearly unbearable to relax and just float. It was hard to breathe, you could barely even cough as you struggled to stay above water.
“James? What the fuck?” Sirius was at your side in a matter of moments, his arms wrapped around you as you clung onto him for dear life. You had gotten yourself into a coughing fit, as soon as you were steady afloat. You didn’t know if the tears streaming down your face were from embarrassment or genuine fear.
“I feel pathetic,” you finally whispered to Sirius as he swam to the grass.
“Everyone has something that gets to them like this. James didn’t know,” he whispered back while he lifted you out of the water, pulling himself up after. “Are you alright? Can you breathe okay? Do you need to see Madam Pomfrey?”
You sat up, wiping at the tears from in your eyes, your hands moving to fumble with the grass blades in front of you. “I think I’m alright.”
Sirius called for a towel with a near perfect wordless spell. He caught it before it flew right into the back of your head, wrapping it around your body snuggly. He ran his fingers over your face, wiping away the droplets of water, pushing your hair back out of the way. “I’m really sorry about all this, y/n,” he said. “I wish I would’ve seen what was happening.”
The overwhelming feeling had pooled tears in your eyes. You slouched down, leaning into his side. “No, it’s alright. It’s not your fault,” you choked out a laugh, wiping under your eyes.
He took your hand, curling his fingers around yours, rubbing gently against the top. “Want me to go get James? Rough him up a bit?”
A smile crept upon your face. “No, it’s alright.”
A genuine laugh bubbled up in your throat. He hugged you tight, speaking quietly. “How about we go back up to my dorm? Get settled in some warm clothes?”
“I like that idea,” you said. “But only if you carry me.”
And that’s exactly what Sirius did. He carried you all the way up to his dorm, letting you change into dry clothes and slip under the covers first.
He didn’t take long himself, turning the bathroom light off as he made his way over to you. He pulled back the blanket atop of you for a brief moment before laying down and pulling you up against his chest with one swift movement of his arm. You turned your head upwards, opening your mouth to talk, yet failing to produce any words. Your voice cracked, tears appearing once more.
Sirius rolled you over, brushing the hair out of your face and wiping away the tears as they spilled over, muttering soft notes of reassurance. “You’re okay now, y/n.”
“It was really scary,” you whispered, the lump in your throat aching as you spoke.
“I know, darling. But look where you are,” he smiled, kissing your forehead sweetly. “Let’s focus on the present: you’re in bed with me, you’re in comfortable clothing, and you have a blanket to keep you warm and safe.” He tucked the material closer up under your neck.
“I’m right here. Nothing like that is going to happen again,” he trailed off. “I’m here to hold you, darling.”
“Thank you.”
He kissed your nose and wiped away the last of the tears. You turned over once again, tucking yourself in his arms.
It was quiet for a mere moment.
“Hey, you’re sure you don’t want to get back at James? I could make a wonderful polyjuice potion over the summer. James would make for a lovely black dog I know of.”
You contemplated. “I don’t think James could pull off being that lovely.”
“You’re right, nobody can be as lovely as me.”
Park Chaeyoung: The girl who hung with the wrong crowd.
Your problem lied more so with the people she associated with than her herself. You couldn't wrap your head around why such a kind person like her would spend time with the class clowns and bullies, and to make matters worse, she would stick up for them as well.
She spent most of her days in either the art or music room, creating the masterpieces that her brain came up with.
But as soon as school was over, she'd be hanging out with them again and getting into trouble. For instance, because of her talents, they would invite her to go with them and graffiti various hot spots around town. She never vandalized any monuments or landmarks of importance -- she typically stuck to bridges or abandoned buildings -- but after getting caught with them multiple times, it was inevitable for her to be held accountable.
She was given a week's detention to make up for her actions
You, coincidentally, had a teacher that absolutely loathed you for no reason at all. No matter how good of a student you were for him, he didn't care; he had a vendetta against you for some reason, and he patiently waited for the opportunity to ruin your day.
You came in literally 10 seconds after the bell rang, putting the breakfast sandwich you stopped to get on the way into your mouth so you could open the door. He was standing at the front with a smug grin on his face, and you already knew what was coming.
You were also given an ungodly sentence of a week's detention.
Turning Point
"If I see you on your phones, I'm taking them." The monitor informs before sitting at the desk, reclining in the chair and putting his feet up soon after. You sigh and lean back in your seat, attempting to find a way to pass the next two hours without getting in trouble. Your eyes scan across the room, eventually landing on Rosé, where she sits a couple rows away from you. Sunlight is streaming in through the window next to her, its golden rays peeking through the breaks in the clouds above to shine on her. She looks gorgeous as she doodles away in her notebook, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear when it falls in front of her face.
After waiting on the monitor to fall asleep and sending one last glance to double check, you quietly stand from your seat and go sit next to her.
You barely know each other, but she's your only hope of remaining sane and occupied.
"Hi," you greet, looking into her eyes.
"Hi," she copies, a tiny smile forming on her lips when she notices your impressed expression upon gazing down at her paper. You have to hand it to her -- she's really talented.
"You're really good," you compliment, still admiring the artistry. Seeing as how you're looking down, you fail to notice the blush that works its way to her cheeks. Coming from you, the simple remark meant a lot to her.
You spend the rest of the day making small talk and getting used to one another, leaving detention later with the hopes of sitting together again.
----
The Next Day
"Hi again," you whisper, glancing over your shoulder to ensure that the coast is clear. The monitor is out like a light, with his mouth hanging open and an obnoxiously loud snore coming out.
"Hi," she giggles, watching as you dive into the floor for cover when the man shifts in his sleep. You thought he was waking up, and if he finds out you moved seats, he'll definitely have something to say about it.
"The coast is clear, cadet," she nods like a soldier, assuring you that it's okay to move back after a minute.
"That was close," you breathe out in relief, glad to live to see another day.
You share a laugh, though it has to be hidden behind your hands and kept a minimum. It's cute though -- like a little secret between the two of you, only for you to know.
"What're you drawing today?" You ask later, laying your chin in your palm as you gaze down at her work. Her reply comes out stuttered at first when she feels your leg innocently brush against hers under the table.
"D-dalgom. My friend's dog." She manages out, mentally smacking herself for looking like a fool.
You smile, thinking she's adorable. "I bet it'll be great," you encourage. She grins back as her eyes scan over your face, committing the memory of you to heart. She's always had a thing for you, ever since the time you were paired up in Biology last semester, so she's been enjoying detention more than she thought she would. Seeing you makes the time go by faster, though ironically, she wishes it would slow down a bit.
You make her feel appreciated for more than just what she's capable of producing, and the divide between you and her friend group is blaringly obvious. They like her because of the rush she can help them achieve; you like her because of her.
That thought persists in her mind for the rest of detention, and before she knows it, the monitor is releasing you again. She bends down to put her notebook in her bag when a thought pops into her mind: she wants to ask if you want to go to the park with her. When she's done zipping her bag up, she looks back up at you, only to find you on your phone, talking to someone.
"Yeah, mom. I'll stop by on the way home. So milk, cereal, ramen, and paper towels, right?"
She watches as you wait for a reply, tucking the phone into the crook of your neck as you move to write the list down on a spare piece of paper.
"Alright, love you, too. See you later." You hang up before looking back at Rosie. She looks a little down, and you have no idea why.
You pause for a moment, silently psyching yourself up for what you're about to ask. "This is gonna sound really strange, but do you want to come with me to the store?"
Her heart's pace increases at that, happy to know that you want to spend more time with her, just as she does with you.
"Actually, yeah. That sounds like fun."
You grin at her before spinning around and doing a little celebratory dance, which wins you a strange look from the monitor. You stick your tongue out at him before grabbing her hand and rushing out of the room, hearing his disapproval shouted after you.
--
"Milk?"
"Check."
"Ramen?"
"Check."
"Cereal?"
"Nope."
You nod at her words, now reminded of what you were forgetting. You push the buggy towards the aisle of cereals, gazing around in wonder at the huge selection. Rosé is just the same, eyeing all of the options like a kid in a candy store. After grabbing your mom's favorite kind, you decide on one for yourself and bring it back to the cart. Rosie scoots her leg over, making room for them beside where she sits, reclined in the cart.
You grin when you see her eyeing a box of fruit loops. Huh; fruity. Go figure.
You wordlessly grab the box and hand it to her, feeling your heart melt when she looks up at you like you hold the key to the universe.
"Thank you, Y/N."
"No problem, Rosie." You say, putting your hands on the bar as you begin pushing the buggy again. "Now, I say we see how long it takes to get to the paper towel aisle. My last record was 30 seconds."
She looks at you, clearly impressed, with her eyebrows raised. Without question, she pulls her phone out and gets the stop watch feature ready to go.
"3...2...1... GO!" She shouts, commanding your legs to start pumping as you race down the long strip of store before you. A couple kids dart out of the way just before getting smacked into, quickly turning around and cheering you on as you charge forward.
Her giggles fill the air as you drift around a corner, shouting apologies to the lady you almost bumped into.
"Sorry ma'am!"
A few seconds later, chest heaving and legs sore, you come to a stop in the aisle, dramatically collapsing in a heap next to the buggy. Rosé checks her phone as she reaches down to poke you.
"22.18 seconds, champ," she declares victoriously, smiling when you magically regain enough energy to stand up and celebrate.
"Woohoo! Team Y/S/N (Your Ship Name) for the win!"
She laughs along at that, joining in on your celebration, but she's blushing like crazy on the inside.
-----
The Last Day Of Detention
Ever since your trip to the store, you and Rosé have grown closer and closer. You traded numbers and text occasionally, though nothing beats having her all to yourself for 2 hours straight with no distractions. She feels the same; when she's in class, she can't wait for the bell to ring and signal your reunion. Part of her wants to get in trouble again, just to see you more often.
So, as you'd expect, it's really no surprise that you're sat right in front of her again, telling jokes and asking about her day. You've grown a bit more bold with every step closer you've taken towards her heart, and now you reach down to intertwine your fingers with hers.
She happily accepts, even bringing your hand up to her lips to press a kiss to the back of it. She smiles against your skin after it, making butterflies take flight in your stomach. She's got you wrapped around her finger, and you don't even try to fight it anymore.
The sound of the classroom door opening alerts you, making her lower your hand. She doesn't let go of you, though, and that fact warms your heart for some reason. The squeaky hinges groan out again as the door opens wider, revealing about 4 or 5 people from the friend group that she hangs out with. They motion for her to sneak out with them, but she just shakes her head.
"Come on, Rosé!" They whisper-scream, offering her a way to freedom. Little do they know that she'd take this imprisonment over freedom any day, so long as you're by her side.
"No! Get out before he wakes up!" She whisper-shouts back, eventually convincing them to leave.
"Why didn't you go?" You ask once they're gone, toying with her fingers as your hands rest on the desk.
"Because I like spending time with you." She admits, letting her defenses down.
"I was hoping you'd say that," you smile, letting her know that you feel the same.
The Fallout
After detention, the two of you walked out of the school, hand in hand
"Would you maybe, I don't know... wanna go to the park with me?" She asks nervously, glancing up at you.
"You read my mind, Rosie." You smile at each other and head towards the parking lot.
You started hanging out more, and she distanced herself from her old crowd
You encouraged her to enroll in your school's art program and show her work that way
"You're really talented; it deserves to be seen."
Your support meant the world to her, and she never failed to let you know
"Thank you, Y/N. Having you behind me means the world to me."
At one of her art shows, where she was tasked with unveiling a new piece that she'd been working on for months, you got the biggest surprise of your life.
She created a mural of you, all decked out with every color of the rainbow, utterly gorgeous
She lit up when she saw your reaction
"This piece is titled 'Mine', which I hope the girl in it will soon be." She says into the microphone, looking at you with hope shining in her eyes.
You nod your head with a smile and walk up to her, pressing your lips to hers in a kiss that was long-overdue. She wraps her arms around your waist, pulling you in closer with her sweater-padded hands and kissing you again and again.
The crowd claps for you, happy to see such an ending.
Lisa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn't choose between these two gifs so enjoy both for the price of one ^^^
Lisa Manoban: Cocky, smug, and self-assured. The dancer knew she was hot shit, and she wasn't afraid to show off.
You're all for people being confident and happy with themselves, especially when they're talented, but something about Lisa always seemed to rub you the wrong way.
Whether it be her lack of a filter or the arrogant swagger that she naturally exuded, you weren't sure. People wanted to either be her or be with her, but you fell into neither of those categories.
She always left you frustrated in one way or another, whether it be from her teasing or her witty comebacks
The teachers loved her, as did the students. She was the class clown, so her position was pretty sacred in the grand scheme of things
You, on the other hand, irritated her for other reasons. You were the only person she couldn't get to crack; you never gave into her charms, and it infuriated her to no end. She wasn't used to not getting what she wanted (as childish as that may seem) and having you, one of the most attractive girls at school, turn her down? Well that was a massive blow to her ego.
You weren't afraid to say your piece, and that both pleasantly surprised and upset her.
She constantly tried to flirt with you in class, but you knew it was all for the attention. She just wanted to make her friends laugh, which they always did.
"Y/N, come here babe. There's an empty seat next to me," she coos, batting her eyelashes as you walk in the door. It's a free day, so everyone is sitting with their friends, wherever they like.
"I'm good," you decline, deciding to sit against the wall beneath the large window of the classroom.
"Oooo, denied," Lisa's friends laugh at her this time, chuckling harder when she sticks her middle finger up at them.
"Yah, shut up," she says, nursing her bruised ego as she turns around and opens her phone.
You smile as you continue working on the homework you cracked open, scribbling an answer down onto the notebook paper in front of you. Your fingers glide over your textbook in search of the definition of the term you're on, and Lisa secretly watches from afar. Without realizing it, she grins when you light up upon spotting the answer.
Sometimes her flirting does work, though, and you turn into a blushing mess
*whistle* "Damn, Y/N. You're looking fine today," she exclaims, fanning herself. You worry that she doesn't really mean it, but when her eyes remain on you a second too long to just be friendly, you blush. She's taking in all of you, looking impressed all the while.
"Right back at you, Manoban." You wink, sitting down in your seat across the room. She lightly blushes back, though she does a good job of concealing it.
Considering you share a couple classes and the class sizes are relatively small, it was pretty likely that you'd end up paired together eventually
You weren't happy about it, especially not after the way she had acted that week. Her cockiness had been at an all time high as of late, leaving you frustrated and upset. She was so full of herself; all you wanted to do was wipe that stupid smirk off her face.
"Y/N, you'll be paired with Lisa," your photography teacher informs, pushing her glasses up higher on the bridge of her nose.
"But Mrs. Ta--"
"Pairings are final," she cocks her head at you, persuading you to give in. With a sigh, you respond, "Yes ma'am," and attempt to ignore the sound of Lisa's friends high fiving each other in celebration.
The Turning Point
"My parents are gone for the rest of the week..." she says, holding the door open for you as you carry in your equipment. A hint of suggestiveness lies in it; she's alluding to exactly what you think she is, and you push her shoulder upon realizing it.
"Knock it off, Manoban."
"Okay, okay," she chuckles, listening to you for once. The surprise is clear on your face.
She leads you towards the backyard, where you set up one of your highest power cameras and turn it on. You have to create a gallery of different photos, all under the same theme. You both agreed to do a time-lapse of the sunset, and take pictures of the stars after.
Once she makes sure that the timer is set correctly and that the auto shut-off feature is enabled, she motions for you to follow her back into the house. You do, and she leads you into the kitchen.
"Do you want a snack?"
"Sure, do you have any ramen?"
She nods, quickly busying herself by bending down and searching through the cabinets. After she finds it, exclaiming a pleased, "Aha!", she tells you to go get comfortable in the living room.
Three minutes later, from your place on the couch, you begin to smell something burning. You scramble up and rush to the kitchen, only to find Lisa running around like a headless chicken, attempting to put out the small fire she started.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO BURN RAMEN?" You shout, though your tone isn't angry. You're just very shocked, and loud about it. You push her away from the pot, albeit gently, and get the flames to go down relatively quickly. You turn the burners off and put the pot in the sink, leaning against the counter to recover from the adrenaline rush.
"Oops?" She asks more so that says, with a growing smile evident in her voice.
You shake your head and chuckle despite yourself, turning around to face her. "You can order a pizza now to make up for that." You point a finger at her, grinning stupidly when she presses the tip of hers to it.
"Your wish is my command, princess."
Thankfully you're already walking away as she says that, so she doesn't get the satisfaction of seeing you blush.
---
"Lisa, I can't keep going." You groan out, sweat dripping down your face. The pizza you ate earlier is giving you a stomache ache, paired with the physical activity you're doing.
"Y/N, just a little longer, we're almost there," she huffs out, keeping her movements steady somehow. You're a mess by now, so you don't understand how she's still going.
A couple minutes later, the TV in front of you lights up, saying, "Awesome moves! You win!" as you collapse to the ground in a heap.
Why you agreed to play Just Dance with her after eating is beyond you.
"Good job," she compliments, grabbing your hand to high five herself with it.
"Yeah, yeah," you roll over, catching your breath.
She lays down beside you as you recover, telling jokes to hear that laugh that she loves so much. She prefers yours over anyone elses, so it's always such a reward when she gets you to crack up.
"We should probably head up now," she notes, realizing that the stars will be coming out soon. You agree, and she carefully helps you up.
"Here, I'll carry you," she turns, bending down so you can get on her back.
"Lisa, you can't carry me," you brush off, feeling insecurity bubble up again like it always does when you're offered a piggyback ride.
"Y/N, I promise that I can. Trust me," she reassures, looking into your eyes sincerely.
"Alright," you sigh, standing onto the couch to get on easier.
"See?" She asks, sliding her warm hands up your thighs to keep you secured against her. "I've got you, babe."
You tuck your head into the space between her shoulder and neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her perfume.
"I'm gonna punch you if you drop me," you whisper, feeling her laugh against you.
"Fair enough."
-----
Later, On The Rooftop
"Careful," she instructs, outstretching a hand to help you climb out the window. Her camera hangs around her neck, and she takes the cap off of the lense once you're both safely sitting on the roof.
"Wow," you sigh, gazing up at the sky in wonder. Her house is far enough away from the city that you're rewarded with a gorgeous view of the stars, unburdened by the industrial fog that hangs over the cosmopolis.
"It's beautiful out here," you say, looking back at her. You tense up a bit, not expecting her to already be looking at you.
"Sorry," she laughs at herself, looking away once she gets caught admiring you.
"It's okay," you reach down and gently squeeze her hand, making her blush lightly.
"Let's get started," you conclude, pointing at the camera. She nods, knowing that she'd never get the assignment done if you didn't step in to tell her to (considering she'd rather admire you), and she points the device to the sky.
After snapping a few pictures, she lays back in order to get a better vantage point of one of the star systems. She hands it to you after she's satisfied with her work, and you take your turn with it.
She notices that you keep brushing your hair out of the way when it falls in your face, so she decides to help you.
"Here," she says, saddling up behind you. She gathers your hair up, running her fingers through it to neatly pull it up for you. Thankfully she always keeps a spare tie on her wrist.
"Thanks," you smile, snapping another picture. The simple act warms your heart; she's being selfless for once, and helping you without even being asked. It's a refreshing change of pace.
"You're welcome." She chirps, sitting back down beside you.
-----
Later, In Her Bedroom
"Oh, I really like that one!" She says excitedly, pointing at the TV. Her phone, which is connected via Bluetooth and automatically receives pictures of her choosing from the camera, is displaying some of your best shots.
"Yeah, you did really well with that. I think we might beat everyone else if we use that as our cover piece."
Your compliment makes her momentarily shy, and she quickly realizes how much she loves your praise.
The two of you continue like that, reviewing the different pictures and choosing your favorites. She always finds ways to compliment yours, noting your technique or the filter you used, and it always makes you smile. She's different than you're used to, and it's throwing you for a loop, pleasantly surprising.
---
Lisa steps out of the room to go to the bathroom a few minutes later, leaving her phone connected to the TV. A ding sounds out across the space, pulling your attention away from the stack of notes laid out before you. Your eyes dart up to the screen, reading the text message that appeared at the top of it.
Austin ⛓: "Dude, did you get into her pants yet? We're literally betting over here 😂"
You blink a few times as their words sink in, making your chest hurt. You were really beginning to believe that you had been wrong about Lisa; clearly, though, your instincts were right.
Feeling betrayed, you shove your folders back into your bag and stand from the chair, willing yourself not to cry. The sound of the sink turning on lets you know that she's almost done, so you hurry your movements and make your way towards the door. She steps out into the hall just as you exit her room, looking at you with wide eyes.
"Woah, woah, woah, what's going on?" She asks with furrowed brows, approaching you. One of her hands lands on your arm, and you shrug it off as you brush past her without another word.
"Y/N, did I do something wrong?" She asks from the top of her staircase, watching as you walk towards her foyer.
"Why don't you ask Austin?" You bitterly call over your shoulder as you turn the knob, slipping out the front door. She hangs her head upon registering your words, realizing what must've happened. She makes a mental note to give him hell when she sees him again.
Tears sting your eyes as you exit the house, wrapping your jacket tighter around yourself. You should've known something like this would happen. The chilly night air bites at your skin, stealing more of its warmth away with every step you take. The temperature doesn't change your mind, though; you're upset, and you'd rather freeze out here than be face to face with her right now.
"Y/N, wait!" She calls after you, blasting out the front foor. Her footfalls sound off behind you, announcing her rapid approach, but you don't turn around. Realizing this, she darts in front of you, keeping you from walking any further.
"Please, don't go. He's an idiot, Y/N."
"He might he an idiot, but that doesn't take away what he said," you scowl, clenching your jaw. "Betting? Really, Lisa?" You ask quietly, hurt evident in your voice.
"It was a stupid thing they tried to convince me to do. I didn't want to, but I couldn't stop them from talking once you and I were paired up. That's not what I want, though. I'm not just in it for that."
"How am I supposed to believe that? This is your M.O., Lisa."
"It's different with you, I don't know why." That's a lie; she knows exactly why you're different than anyone else she's flirted with in the past.
You stand there before her, silently weighing your options. After seeing the pleading look in her eye, her dark orbs full of sincerity, you relent. "Just take me home. We'll work on it another day," you compromise, allowing her in just enough to take you home, but not enough to stay at her place any longer. You're still weary after a text like that, and you will be for a while.
"Thank you," she breaths a sigh of relief, clasping her hands behind herself as you begin walking back to her house. She notices you shiver on the way, and she slips her jacket off without hesitation to cover you. Neither of you have to say anything; one glance from you is enough for her, and she's content knowing you're warm.
The Fallout
From there on out she was always honest with you and actually spoke out when her friends tried to do something stupid
She still remained the charming class clown that she naturally is, just getting rid of the not-so-nice parts of herself
You slowly let her regain your trust, little by little
She did nice things for you on the daily, whether it be holding the door, carrying your books, or offering to buy you some lunch
"Morning, Y/N. Wanna grab some breakfast?" She asks, moving her head to the side towards the café at the center of campus.
"Sure," you smile, laughing when she celebrates.
She invites you to her dance perfomances
When she goes to championships, you're always first on her list of invites
"I want you there." She declares, handing you the flyer.
"You've got it," you decide, knowing there's no where you'd rather be. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
At said championship, she won the highest title and claimed victory for your school
You joined the rest of the team on the stage to celebrate, congratulating the solo dancer on her achievement.
"I'm so proud of you, Lis--"
She suddenly kisses you, clearly high off her win. She pulls back when she realizes what she just did, a worried look on her face.
"Shit, I'm sorry." She looks between your eyes, attempting to gauge your reaction.
"Get your ass back here," you order, feeling butterflies take flight when she eagerly presses her lips to yours again, wrapping her arms around you to spin you.
"Does this mean I'm forgiven?" She mumbles against your lips.
You squint, pretending to think about it. "Maybe... or maybe not."
Her subsequent gasp is quickly muffled by your kiss, which she can't seem to get enough of.
Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Tabula Rasa
Tabula Rasa has 8 stories at Gossamer, but there are even more X-Files fics at AO3 and her website. She writes Mulder and Scully in a very lovely way. I've recced 3 of my favorites of her fics here before: Bird in Snow, Fall: East on M St, and Skuamorph. Big thanks to Tabula Rasa for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
I'm always extremely pleasantly surprised to get kudos (or, very rarely, a comment) on my old fic, but I'm always happy to see it! I did post them all (I think) to AO3. I'm not surprised people are still reading fic, though. It's an iconic show and now with streaming, it's really easy to watch older shows and natural to want fic about them!
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
XF was my first fandom, definitely my first online fandom, and so it will always have a special place in my heart. Also... I had a great time! I stumbled upon and joined the Scullyfic email list by accident, but it was the best thing I could have done. I learned a lot about how to be a writer and how to be in fandom, and those lessons are still important to me. Foundational. Also, in terms of modern fandom drama, XF was more low-key on the drama (although it didn't seem like it at the time!). But I learned something that's always served me well: find like-minded people, and hang out with them. Don't worry about the rest.
Also... you can't control the show, but you kind of can control the canon.
Because of Scully, I ended up taking a forensic anthropology class in university-- and now I have a Master's in a forensic science! Part of the Scully Effect, and proud of it!
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
Definitely mostly email list! I never really got the hang of message boards. Posting fic was exhausting, and tbh I never figured out how to work Ephemeral. I checked it every day, though! I loved, after a new episode, everyone sending in their thoughts and reading everyone's experiences together. Fandom was a lot more work back then, tbh!
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
That fic can be just as good, or better, than traditionally published works. There are works of XF fic that have stuck with me for years now, far more than some books I've read. That fan writers can know the characters better than the show writers. The fandom in general was really smart, and mostly more adult than me (I joined fandom when I went away to college, so I always felt at the younger end of the scale. That was good though!).
Also, my first time reading and writing porn. Not gonna lie, I was shocked the first time I accidentally read smut. But I adjusted fast. lol
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
I was still a kid (now we would say preteen) when the show premiered- I think in middle school. But I was already into ghosts, aliens, monsters, solving mysteries, and I'd already imprinted on the dynamic thanks to Square One (really)! I was also just old enough to start developing celebrity crushes. Hilariously, I did not twig to the fact that I'm bisexual the entire time I was in XF fandom, despite having enormous crushes on BOTH Mulder and Scully. Ahhhh!
Also, my whole family was into the show, but I was definitely the one with the hyperfixation. I used to take notes and record the episodes as I watched. It just had the right stuff and hit at the right time. And I've always been obsessive.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
As a kid I also really liked Star Trek, and someone had given my dad a book about the history of Star Trek, which I read. This included mentions of fandom and fanfic. As soon as I had a private-- and perhaps more importantly fast-- internet connection (in college), I went looking for XF fanfic, and that was that. Hooked immediately. Also I shipped them A LOT so that's what I went looking for.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
I tend to not go back to a fandom once I have a new fandom, so I wouldn't say I'm in it. I did hang around the edges for the revival, of course, because I wanted to experience that with the same people, but since the revival was mostly not that great (with a few exceptions), I didn't get pulled back into it. But I still think of the people I knew in the fandom a lot, and always hope they're doing well.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
I've never left fandom, and I've been in a BUNCH: Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Bandom, Supernatural, now CQL/The Untamed and other Chinese-media fandoms, with many smaller ones in between or on the side. I feel like at their core fandoms tend to be similar, although where you host the fandom makes a big difference: Livejournal, tumblr, twitter. I think that because fandoms now tend to be bigger and more diverse (which is good) there tends to be more wank (which is bad). In some of them I was close to a group of people, some of them not. Honestly the best thing is when someone you know from an old fandom is in your new fandom. It's so much fun. I have really good friends thanks to fandom, and I've had them for YEARS. Like. 15 years.
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
I tend to focus more on ships than characters, but some of my all-time favs: Scully, Hermione, Sirius Black, Castiel, Lan Wangji, Xie Lian. That's just fandom-oriented ones, otherwise we'd be here all day. :D
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I don't often rewatch episodes any more, although if I come across an ep on tv I might. I definitely still think about them though! For example, I'm a teacher now, and just a couple weeks ago one of my colleagues mentioned he'd heard the students saying they shipped two of their classmates, and he was like "Ship? I don't get it" and I was like "HOO BOY, do I have a story for you!" And I explained how shipping came from XF fandom, and why. That was fun. I definitely still think about Mulder and Scully too-- I mean, they're cultural touchstones, so they do come up sometimes in greater pop culture. Also, I was in Hannibal fandom for a while, and Gillian Anderson is still The Best.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
I haven't read XF fic in years, even the ones I remember as being really significant/important to me. I still have my all-time favs saved on an external HD though! Fic in another fandom- every day lol.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
Blinded by White Light by DashaK has stuck with me. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the Ruby-Throated Warbler by I forget I'm so sorry -- that's lasted as my ideal post-canon MSR and as an interesting and different way to tell a story.  [Lilydale note: It’s by rah.] I was always thrilled to see fic by Brandon, JET, MaybeAmanda, Syntax6... and, frankly, everyone on the Scullyfic/ Emuse list. So many talented people in that fandom!
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
Things Outside, which is the only thing I've ever written based on a dream, and I'm really satisfied with it. It was hard to write but so much fun to revel in the weirdness. I always kind of wanted to write more because I know a lot more about the situation, but otoh, I like the open, ambiguous ending (usually I am very HEA).
In other fandoms, King & Country in bandom (MCR) and in Supernatural I'm very proud of Hope and Clay. I struggle to write casefics even though I love to read them, but that one really worked out.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I don't think I'll ever write something new. There is an old fic that may be done but it was smut so I was too shy to post it at the time. In theory if I find it and it's decent, I could post it!
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I do! I write fic very slowly, but I do write still! I have a million ideas for stories, but I'm so slow at the actual writing part.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
I usually take a jumping-off point from canon, or of course, something I need to fix or expand on. Or sometimes I start telling myself a story as I fall asleep and the idea grabs me long enough I can manage to write it.
What's the story behind your pen name?
I was getting into fandom and realized people didn't use their real names. I flipped through my history book looking for inspiration, and decided tabula rasa was a great name for a writer. I tend to add an X because it's rare to get "tabularasa" as a username, and the X is indeed for X-Files (so I'm something like tabulaxrasa most places). I usually go by Tabula Rasa or Tab, though. And I still use it because 1) it IS a great name for a writer; and 2) it's not fandom-specific so I can keep it in every fandom.
I identify with it so much I have answered to this name in class (oops). I have a "Tab" t-shirt (as in the soda, but I have worn it to Comic-Con for ease of ID-- better than a nametag!). And my mom got me a necklace with a "tab" typewriter key as a charm, which I adore. Yes, I have accidental merch of myself.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
As you can tell from the above, my family knows (my family being my parents and sister). They are supportive! I think my mom read a couple stories? But obviously she has to know the fandom to get it... I got my sister into fic, and we even wrote a couple fics together (in Gundam Wing). She's a lot more selective about fandoms, but she's joined fandoms on her own, too. She's just not in one constantly, like me. :p
I tend not to tell not-online friends unless I have felt them out and know they're super fannish, or they bring it up first.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
Most of my old fic is now on AO3 and I hang out on twitter a lot, @tabula_x_rasa
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
I'm really glad people are still in this fandom! It will always be so important to me. Thank you Lilydale, for this nostalgia trip!
Supernatural Thursdays
by @lateral-org
12/3/20
Supernatural Thursdays is a fan-run discord server that hosts weekly viewing parties in order to rewatch Supernatural. They are currently at 854 members and are hoping to reach 1,000 soon. They host three viewing options:
The Midday viewing on Thursdays at 3pm CT, the Main viewing on Thursdays at 9:30pm CT, and the Late viewing on Fridays at 10:30am CT.
The first viewing party for the next episode, season 1, episode 2: ‘Wendigo’, is scheduled to begin today (12/3) at 3 pm CT.
Link to join: https://discord.gg/8EYCHktyUS
It all started with a tumblr post by valleydean on November 17th.
“what if after the show ends we all watch an episode every thurs at 8pm from start to finish? it’d take 6.3 years to complete one cycle”
The casual observation took hold of Supernatural fans. Likes and reblogs flooded in, and currently the post sits at almost 2,000 notes. Tumblr user @castee-yel was struck by this suggestion. They reached out to @valleydean on tumblr to brainstorm ideas, and soon the Supernatural Thursdays discord server was born.
“Seeing the show come to an end was devastating,” castee-yel says. “I wanted to keep it going, keep myself going.”
Continued below the cut.
Tumblr user @fitinmypoems, a nephilim-level mod, echoed that sentiment, saying,
“I was very disappointed and upset with the supernatural finale, but I do adore the show… When I saw Dee post about doing a weekly rewatch, I was interested! It's more fun to watch this show with friends.”
The server hosts viewing parties three times a week: twice on Thursdays (a ‘midday’ viewing at 3 pm CT a ‘main’ viewing at 9:30 pm CT), and once on Fridays at 10:30 am CT.
“We've had streaming parties for two episodes so far- 15x20 and 1x01,” says tumblr user @profoundsbond, a demon-level mod. “They both went great - everyone watches the eps on their own and reacts to it in the chat and it's typically been pretty high energy.”
Server member Darian recounts the watch party experience.
“It was quite nice, to see everyone's reaction to all the emotional moments of the episode. Exactly the shared experience I was looking for. And it was definitely fun - people were creating memes in the chat at light speed.”
“it's been wonderful!” says server member Galvanon. “The energy before the eps is palpable and the people are really friendly. It's also very well-organized so I've never had a hard time finding anything. 10/10 would recommend.”
 “It's really helped me cope with the finale we had,” says tumblr user @carry-on-my-wayward-sooon. “It's a really fun and supportive group and an overall great time.”
That community aspect, the shared love of the show, is what drove castee-yel to create the server in the first place.
“The core of this was to share something I cherished dearly with a few people,” they explain. “That quickly expanded to 320+ people in less than 12 hours and to the server it is today at only 2 weeks old.”
Currently, Supernatural Thursdays sits at 822 members. It’s organized into over 30 text channels and moderated by a team of 11 moderators.
“[The mods] are amazing,” says Darian. “To organise all this and create a welcoming place for 800 people... must be difficult and they are doing a wonderful job at it. Literally all good suggestions are being taken to consideration to make this place even better. I'm really glad I found this server.”
The general attitude seems to be ‘the more the merrier’, as far as encouraging new members to join is concerned.
“If you want a community who is gonna be embroiled in all things SPN and cast related, we're the place for you,” fitinmypoems says. “The point of the discord is to rewatch the show, but that's only once a week. The other 6 days are just to hang out with other fans and goof about.”
“You can be as active as you want in here,” profoundsbond says. “It also helps that we have multiple channels for different topics, so you can really… get what you want out of the server.”
Castee-yel is excited at the prospect of new faces in the server, hoping to get to 1,000 members soon. “The sooner they join the better, as we're planning some very big things for the future of this server.”
You can follow spn thursdays on twitter for more info. Link to the server: https://discord.gg/8EYCHktyUS
Special thanks to @castee-yel, @profoundsbond, @fitinmypoems, @carry-on-my-wayward-sooon, and discord users Darian and Galvanon for agreeing to be interviewed in this article.
Monotone Donations
"Are you and Dream dating?" Your monotone slightly British text to talk reads off the $10 donation from alexiscarter3215.
You laugh, blushing slightly at the question as you continue to build your trusty restaurant on the Dream SMP server. You and Dream have been friends for about a year now. You had built a small friendship with George when he introduced the two of you, claiming you to be the 'woman version of Dream'. And it's just skyrocketed from there. You were introduced to Sapnap, who complained at being the last one introduced in the Dream Team. Then Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur, Niki, and so many more people. It made your head spin, honestly. You jumped from being a semi-small streamer to having a solid fanbase.
"Thank you for the dono, alexiscarter3215." You smile at your facecam, holding up a little heart. The chat goes wild, whizzing past too fast to read but you're sure they're upset that you didn't answer their question.
You had to think about it for a second. You two sure acted like you were dating. Between the constant guest appearances on each other's streams, the twitter flirting, and the Minecraft beds next to each other on his server, you could see why others would be confused. But you weren't dating. You mean, you two did facetime every night and he did know all your secrets. But you don't even know what he looks like yet and....
Shit. You have a fat crush on Dream. The realization that you finally admitted it to yourself making you pause slightly before your phone buzzes, a notification from Twitter. You spot Dream's username and pause your game. "Let's find out what Dream tweeted folks." You tell your stream, planning on ending it soon anyways so this was the perfect segway to wrapping it up. You're thankful for the distraction as you weren't even sure what you were going to say next.
!TWITTER!
Dream @.Dream
proud to say i haven't lost no simp september 😤👏 but can't say the same for @.nightmare
You read it aloud, blush covering your face and you thank your shitty camera quality for once. Hopefully your small face cam in the corner of the screen was too tiny for your viewers to see the pink tint to your cheeks.
"What do you think I should reply, guys?" You ask your stream, leaning in to see the chat. Most of the suggestions were either to profess your love for him or were to meme him. You chose the later, as you weren't 100% sure if he liked you back.
"Okay, okay, we'll meme him." Your fingers expertly move across the screen before you press tweet. "Go blow it up guys." You set your phone down and make your facecam the only thing viewers can see on the stream.
"That'll be the end of my stream for today! Thank you all for joining and remember, don't you dare lose no simp september to block men!" You wave goodbye to your viewers, raiding Sapnap quickly before leaning back in your chair, sighing loudly. You hear another ding from your phone.
Dream @.Dream
proud to say i haven't lost no simp september 😤👏🏻 but can't say the same for @.nightmare
Night @.nightmare
Dream @.Dream
:(
You giggle at his tweet, liking it as a text from him quickly follows.
dweam
how dare you not simp for me?
night
I should say the same to you Big D
You giggle, stealing Tommy's nickname from him. You watched enough of Tommy to remember all the different names he has used for Dream.
dweam
okay, pls lose my number
night K.
You giggle, biting your nails slightly as you wait for his reply. Instead of a text, you get an incoming facetime from him. You decline his call, choosing to keep the bit going. After a few moments, you get a facetime from Sapnap. You answer it, confused as to why he would be calling you out of the blue.
"Answer Dream." Was all he said before hanging up. You laugh loudly, covering your mouth so as to not wake your housemates before deciding to take the bit to twitter.
!TWITTER!
Night @.nightmare
i hate men. dhmu. only the real ones know.
Dream facetimes you again and you pick up sniffling slightly.
"(Y/N)? Are you okay??? I didn't mean it. I saw your tweet, please... I didn't mean it." He says, concerned as he hides his face from the camera.
You finally break, laughing loudly as you put the camera down so you can hold your stomach, wheezing. "Dream, bud. I was just joking around." You hear him let out a sigh of relief.
"You should come to Florida." He suddenly states, making you choke on the sip of water you were drinking.
"Uh..." You pause for a moment.
"I mean if you're uncomfort-"
"Yes." You cut him off, smiling into the camera brightly. "Yes, I will come to Florida."
The next two weeks were a blur, Dream insisted on paying for your ticket to fly to Florida. And when the boys found out that you were visiting without asking them first, they were super jealous. So jealous, in fact, that they both booked flights that phone call. They were nice enough to give you two days alone with Dream, but only after an awkward amount of silence and a lot of text notifications where you're pretty sure Dream threatened to leave their ass at the airport if they didn't come later. Your knowledge of this only coming from the screenshots George sent you of Dream's threats.
The day of the flight, you were incredibly nervous. You had picked a soft plum colored sweatshirt with simple black leggings and converes. You wanted to dress up a little, but you also knew that you would be uncomfortable the whole flight if you did. Hopefully Dream didn't mind you dressing down for the first in person meeting with him.
night
leaving now for the airport. wish me luck
You send the text and shut your phone off as you enter the uber. A short 30 minute drive later and you're walking through the airport. You smile slightly, airports seem like they exist in a different dimension all together. You don't judge someone having a drink at 9 a.m. at an airport, because well... they're in an airport. You buy a water once you get past security, drinking it nervously as you wait for your flight to be called.
After a 30 minute wait, your flight is finally called. You finally reach your window seat and check your phone.
dweam
i hope u don't die.
night
how kind of u. we're leaving now :))) see u soon!!!!!
You smile and turn off your phone, leaning back and closing your eyes as you drift off.
The kind old lady seated next to you shakes you awake, telling you that you're landing soon. You flush red, not realizing that you slept through the whole flight. You probably looked ridiculous.
Once you land, you quickly pull out your phone and turn it on. You notice that you had 3 unread messages from Dream.
dweam
i'm so kind
but fr i hope u have a safe flight.
text me when u land. i got here a little early... guess i was just too excited
night
we just landed!!!
You blush at the connotation of his text. He was genuinely excited to see you? When everyone was finally able to leave their seats, you grab your overhead luggage and make your way off the plane. You make your way to the baggage claim and watch the bags intently, waiting for your polka dot bag to show itself.
You feel a tap on your shoulder and you turn around, coming face to face with a very tall blonde man.
"Oh- sorry, am in your way?" You mumble, moving over for them to grab their luggage.
"(Y/N)?" He asks you, his voice unsure and hesitant.
Your eyebrows raise in shock and you turn around again, looking at him closely. You cover your mouth in shock, "D-Dream?" You ask for a moment, unsure if this is real.
He nods, laughing and you throw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around him in a tight hug. Tears start to come to your eyes as he hugs you back tightly. You pull back so that you could look up at his face, but still keeping your arms wrapped around him. "Dream!" You sniffle, your voice a little scratchy from holding back the tears.
"(Y/N)! Are you crying?" He asks, laughing. He is so much more attractive than you could have ever imagined. You sniffle, wiping your nose on your sleeve as you hit his chest lightly.
"Don't make fun of me. This is easily the best thing that has happened in my life." You giggle softly, looking back at the conveyer belt to see your bag. You quickly rush to grab it before it disappears on you.
You turn back to Dream, your bag trailing behind you as you pull it along. Dream grabs your carryon much to your complaints.
"I got it, (Y/N), don't worry." He chuckles, his deep voice making butterflies appear in your stomach. As the two of you walk to his car, chatting excitedly about what the plans are for the week, Dream grabs your free hand, linking your fingers together. Blush creeps up your neck as you pretend nothing is different. Once you reach his car, Dream grabs both of your luggage and puts them in the trunk as you get into the passenger side.
"So, I don't know if you rented a hotel room or something..."He trails off, tapping the steering wheel nervously.
Your eyes widen slightly, you didn't know he wanted you to. "Oh! I, uh, I totally forgot. I can book one right now, though. No biggie." You quickly pull out your phone, panicking a little as you search hotels near me.
Dream pushes your phone away, chuckling. "No, no. (Y/N), you don't have to. I didn't mean it like that. I just wasn't sure if you were comfortable staying at my apartment."
You let out a sigh of relief. "Of course I'm fine with that you dork." You punch his arm softly, "I thought for a second you didn't want me there!" You tease him.
Dream feigns being hurt by your punch before gently grabbing your hand again. "Of course I want you there." He mutters softly.
The words set your stomach aflame as your intestines tie themselves into a knot. He wanted you there.
Tumblr media
"Waa~ the season is over! Thank god. I don't have to worry about practicing with Heesu!" You sighed blissfully. Now you weren't a pro at what would be called normal sports but you were definitely a pro at gaming.
You were (streamer/name), one of the pro players of Philadelphia Fusion from the Overwatch League. You were known for being one of the first females to join Overwatch League. It was a bumpy ride but you made it far. But now you had your studies to focus on. While you weren't in the official line up (due to how young you were), you practiced hard with the benched players and streamed in your free time with your fellow teammates.
You arrived at Karasuno, it wasn't a new day for you. A pretty normal day, except you were transferring into a higher class so that was pretty new. You get to Class 1-4, entering hesitantly.
"Ah, you must be the new student! Introduce yourself!"
"Morning, I'm y/n l/n! Please call me y/n! Nice to meet you!" You bowed as you introduced yourself, you ended up having to sit next to a tall blonde named Tsukishima Kei. Soon it was free time/study hall.
Some students had come up to you as they seemed to recognize you from your streams. You never minded the attention and you just hoped it never got too bad. "Are you really s/n?"
"I prefer not to talk about it too much.." You laughed nervously.
"Wow! You're in like the top 50 in the Asia and American servers!" You rubbed the back of your neck sheepishly. You were never one to brag about your achievements. It was all just a video game to you in the end but then again, you were gonna be in Overwatch League when you get out of high school.
"She can reach top 50 and yet her height says she can barely reach the middle shelf." You turned to look at the tall male.
"Well, that's not very nice, Tsukishima-kun." You tell him. "And if you're gonna insult me, make up something better. I've dealt with years of misogyny in the gaming world, fight me." You have an annoyed glint in your eye as he glares at you.
"Oh my bad, chibi-chan." You were walking right into his trap and you didn't even realize it. "At least I'm in the starting line up on my team." He snickered. He knew very well that you were part of the Philly Fusion and you knew he was in the volleyball team. He knew of a few ways to push your buttons.
"H-Hey! I'll be in the starting line up soon! Just you wait! I'll be at the top!" You huffed. "You'll see me with the big boys, you salty beanpole of a guy!"
"Beanpole? Is that really the best you could come up with?"
"I could come up with worse but I don't think you could handle the heat. What with your petty insults and all." You crossed your arms. "At least I'm at the top with the best."
“Tch, what insults could you come up with, chibi-chan?” He scoffed. Everyone can feel the tension rise between you both. Luckily, a fight didn’t happen due to the fact that the bell had rung. While you and Tsukishima were frustrated at the sound of the bell, Yamaguchi seemed very relieved.
It’s been several days since you got transferred to Class 1-4. You made a decent amount of friends in the class (though you weren’t sure if someone of them wanted to be genuinely friends with you or they just wanted to meet your teammates). You were really good friends with Yamaguchi, although you still didn’t like Tsukishima enough to want to be his friend. More often than not, you both spat insults at each other with no remorse. It seemed to be a mutual thing, neither of you wanted to be friends nor plan on it.
You went to see volleyball practice pretty often as to support Yamaguchi (though Tsukki joked a lot that you were obsessed at continuing the feud you and Tsukishima had). “Hey Yama-kun.” You weren’t as energetic as it was getting close to league season and that meant less time with hanging out with friends.
“Are you okay, y/n-chan?” he asked as he was rubbing the sweat off his face with his towel.
“It’s almost league season for me, which mean I won’t spend as much time here. I’ll be home earlier to practice with my team.” You often practiced in your free time when it was off-season but the coach always thought it was better for you to practice with the team even if you weren’t gonna be in the line up.
“You really have to practice even if you’re not in the lineup?” Tsukishima scoffed.
“At least I’m passionate about what I do! You barely put energy into yourself playing!” You snapped back at him.
“Whatever..” He muttered.
“Sorry about Tsukki..” Yamaguchi said. “So, you’re gonna be really busy now, huh?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna be going back to the Fusion base since they might want me to train over there.” That struck a cord in the duo.
“You’re gonna be leaving?” Yamaguchi asked, shocked.
“Yeah. But it won’t be forever. But they know it would be better for me if I went back to school around the Fusion base so it would be easier for me.” You ruffled your hair in slight frustration. “So funny enough, this is my first and last year here.” You sighed. Tsukishima didn’t know what to say. Nor did he realize what feeling were stirring up inside of him. But they didn’t feel good.
“That sucks, but you’re gonna get close to your dream, right?” The green haired male asked. “I’m glad you’ll get the dream you wanted but we’ll miss you when you leave.” He smiled sadly.
“Saltyshima won’t miss me though but I appreciate that you will.” You smiled at Yamaguchi while said male scoffed at your statement. “Let’s just have fun for these last few day before I leave.”
“Eh? You’re leaving that soon?”
“In 3 days actually. On Saturday.”
D-1
You already felt yourself missing everything in this school. While Tsukishima is struggling to think about what were these dumb feelings doing to him. Why was he feeling this way? Why was it always towards you? Why were these feelings even existing?
“Okay, Tsukishima-kun. Yamaguchi and I made a promise. I have to try and get along with you before I leave to go back. So, let’s start over.” You stuck his hand out. He doesn’t shake your hand and scoffs.
“Like I wanna be friends with you, chibi-chan.”
“Okay, let’s go out to eat then. I’m not taking no for an answer.”
“How about ‘I decline’?” He says back.
“It’ll just be for 30 mins after practice. You can handle that right, Tsukki?” You say almost mockingly.
“Fine.” He huffed. And so started the adventure of the salty male and the pro gamer. After practice both of you headed off to a small diner. “Wow, very fancy.” He says sarcastically.
“Hey, my mom won’t let me in on the money from Overwatch League, give me a break.” You ordered fries and a milkshake. He ordered the same thing as he didn’t seem to care for anything else on the menu. You held up a fry close to his mouth. “Look it’s you.” Before you could move your hand back to eat the fry, he moves closer and eats the fry, his lips just grazing your fingers. “Hey! You have your own sets of fries, Saltyshima!”
“Never said I couldn’t eat your fries though, chibi-chan.” He smirked smugly. How were you gonna get along with the male if he acted like this? You don’t know. You sip on your strawberry milkshake as you glare at him.
D-2
“You’re telling me, you haven’t dipped your fries in a milkshake before?! You’ve got to be kidding me.” You huffed. “Well, now you gotta try it, right now. Do it.” You crossed your arms as you waited for him to do it. You and Tsukishima had unknowingly made a routine between each other which was fries and a milkshake after practice or after school.
“No way.”
“Do it, you coward.” You dip your fry into your milkshake and eat it. “Don’t knock it until you try it.”
“If I do it, will you stop annoying me?”
“You and I both know, I’d still annoy you. Just do it.” He rolled his eyes at your statement before finally trying a fry dipped in the milkshake. “So?”
“It’s not that bad.”
“See! I’m such an intellectual!”
“How are you in my class again?”
D-3
“So...this is the last time we do this. Then I leave.” You were a little gloomy since you and Tsukishima seemed to finally get along, only to probably forget each other in the long run.
“You act like you’re leaving forever. You’ll come back when the season ends, right?”
“I..don’t know yet.” You sighed as you stirred your milkshake with your straw. “You’ll wait for me right? If I come back.”
“When you come back. Don’t say if.” You laughed a bit, but it was a bitter laugh.
“I never thought we’d somewhat get along and when we do, I have to leave for Overwatch League.” You muttered. “Why don’t you come and say goodbye to me when I get to the airport? My aunt is driving me, Yama-kun knows where I live, come with us.” You offered.
“Maybe.”
“Well, let’s not make this our last goodbye right?” You said softly.
Leaving Day
You took a deep breath. Yamaguchi is sitting beside you as he notices the sad look on your face. Tsukishima didn’t come with you to say goodbye. “I’m sure he’ll show up.” He said, trying to be optimistic.
“I don’t know, Yamaguchi...” You mumble. You finally arrive at the airport. “I’ll miss you. I’ll try to text and call as much as I can.” You give him a sad smile. You hug him as he hugs you back.
“I’ll see you soon.” He smiled. You grab your suitcase slowly starting to leave.
“Oh, chibi-chan, you think you can escape from me that easily?” You hear a familiar voice and look up, seeing Tsukishima. Yamaguchi seem to have to take that as a sign to give you and him some space.
“You came after all.” You smiled. He patted your head before pushing you back, chuckling.
“Who do you think I am, chibi-chan?”
“Well, say your goodbyes now. I got to go soon.”
“Right. We got off the wrong foot in the beginning. I will admit that. But within the last 3 days, I tolerate you.”
“Wow, you tolerate me. That’s better than before.”
“Let me finish. I will wait for you. I...don’t just tolerate you. I like you.” His face is dusted with pink, making you hold back a smile and a tease. He took a step closer and kissed your forehead, surprising you. “Take that as my goodbye. Don’t forget to text me when you land, idiot.”
“I won’t forget, beanpole.”
“Shortstack.”
“Lamppost.”
“Gremiln.”
“Salty fries.”
“Sweet milkshake.”
“When you get back, you better buy me fries and a milkshake.”
“I haven’t even left.”
“Well, hurry, so you can come back quickly.”
“I like you too, Saltyshima!”
Unthinkable CH46/???
Word 3100
Warning Nothing
The days on the set were chaotic and fascinating, Y/N had managed to find all the furniture and Alissa was organizing the expedition, once in LA she would have fixed the house, was preparing breakfast before reaching Phil and leaving for Sammy's house ,
"Day Honey " said feeling Tom's arms wrap her, "One second and the eggs are ready" turned to kiss him,
"Day Darling, excited for the hunt?" the man asked, taking a seat at the table,
"Can't wait" replied carrying the plates, "I can't wait for Sammy since the party will be fun"  laughed as drank her first coffee,
"Don't be swayed by her madness" he laughed, "If you let her, she'll buy you a castle",
"I'll remember my Lord" she laughed with him as finished breakfast,
"See you tomorrow my love, Sammy wants to take me shopping" she kissed him taking the backpack with pajamas and a change,
"Have fun, Darling, see you tomorrow," he greeted her.
Phil was waiting for her at the B&B where slept, luckily he had found a room, with the re- taking in progress all the rooms in the hotels and b&b were full of paparazzi and fans who came to steal some photos,
"Hello, can I help you?" asked the girl at the reception, "Oh Miss Hiddleston .. " said surprised to see her there,
"Good morning, I'm waiting for a friend, thank you" Y/N answered sitting in the living room, Phil joined her after a couple of minutes,
" Poppy here I am sorry but to have breakfast you have to get in line" he said laughing hugging her,
" It's full of paparazzi wandering through the woods", they went out trying not to pay attention to the shots,
"Well tomorrow there will be our stupid photos everywhere" the woman said with a sigh, "Sorry Phil" looked at him sorry, the friend laughed,
"Don't worry, just don't pay attention to it" laughed the man getting into the car, "Since when do you care what people think?" asked amazed, the woman explained to him how she felt and how the photos of the previous days had made her feel bad,
".. you're right, lately I have the feeling that I have lost a part of me .." she said thoughtfully,
".. I think it's because I 'm so in love with him that I'm afraid that one too many smile or a hug can create havoc",
" Poppy that man kisses the earth where you walk I doubt that something about you will not please him" he laughed giving her a loving tap on the shoulder, "Change is natural .. distort what you are not" he said seriously, the woman looked out thinking about the words of her friend he was right was to regain part of her that did not care of the judgments of the people, promised if same to get back what was before I met Tom, a few hours after they arrived at the home of Sammy .
"Y/N bye!!" she said happily going to meet the two, "How nice to see you" the happy hug,
" Sammy thanks for your help" Y/N replied as cheerful as she was, " He is Phil one of my oldest friends" she said introducing him,
"Nice to meet you, I tried to make coffee but I can't assure you it's good" she laughed making his way inside the house, "Take a seat"
"Isn't David there?" asked Y/N following her into the kitchen, Sammy said no, her husband worked,
".. you are all mine today and tomorrow" smiled maliciously, the trio laughed, finished their coffee and they went out,
"Let's take my car if you don't mind so I don't have to give directions to your driver" took the keys while Y/N warned the driver,
"As I told you there are many properties in the area" began turning into a country road that led to the hills, "If you have any idea tell me so let's see if there is something", Y/N roughly described what they were looking for, a large park and a pond could not be missing,
" Mmm everyone here has a garden ... or rather a park" she laughed, stopping at the top of the hill to show her the area, "As you can see the houses are far enough away to have all the privacy you want" said, Y/N admired the landscape dotted with big houses, really big, she thought,
"Er Sammy .. " she said fearfully, "..Thomas and I are looking for a house not a mini castle, these are gigantic", Sammy looked at her seemed not to follow her speech,
" Oh .. uh .. I always forget that you are Italian" she replied thoughtfully, "Here it is customary to have large country houses with many rooms and large lounges, they are usually rented when not in use" concluded,
"I understand, but we seek a home for the exclusive use say, spacious enough to invite friends .. " described what they were looking for explaining best she could, ".. 4/5 bedrooms, a great room and a garden" behind her Phil laughed, "You knew that didn't you?" she scolded him laughing,
"Yes but I could not resist letting you fall from the clouds" he laughed hugging her, even Sammy laughed heartily taking the phone and talking quickly, Y/N couldn't follow her and not even Phil was useful, Scottish was a language apart,
"Ok I found a couple of houses that could be fine" she said getting back in the car, "While we go I cancel the appointments I had made" smiled putting on the earphones, Y/N felt guilty she must be clearer in what they were looking for,
"Sorry Sammy " she said in a low voice, "I didn't mean to waste your time like this",
"Imagine Y/N, it is true that you could have explained yourself better .. but I had to ask .. we are even" she laughed, the woman managed to find something and they headed towards the first property, a man was waiting for them at the gate,
"Hi Miss, I'm Gerald Connor the caretaker" he said cheerfully shaking hands with the group,
"I'm amazed you're looking for such a small house" he laughed as led the way
"They just told me that in England they use much larger" smiled Y/N explaining the reasons for their choice, the caretaker laughed opening the door,
"Take a seat" gestured Gerald making them pass, "the central hall has a beautiful fireplace that works perfectly" he said showing the great room, the marble inlaid fireplace was spectacular, a large table was placed next to the fire could seat a dozen people , two twin sofas on the opposite side were turned towards the large window overlooking the park, you could see a stream passing through the property, the deer grazed placidly in the park, Y/N was ecstatic,
"The kitchen is habitable .. " he says and continuing his visit, ".. as soon as outside there is an old bread oven, but it needs to be fixed", they went upstairs passing through the turret
"There are 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the master bedroom has a private bathroom" he said, letting the group wander around the rooms,
"There are some work to be done, it was used as a hunting lodge" he led the way outside and there Y/N understood that it was the right one, the large park was hidden behind the house by a grove of centuries-old oaks and horse chestnuts, fruit trees were scattered around, missing only a pool but it would have made to install if the deal was successful, tried to stay on longer neutral and calm as possible but she was so happy that he had trouble,
" Sammy is her .. is perfect!!" she said softly taking her aside, "You seem much better at bargaining .. " smiled at her,
"It seems very small to me" she answered unconvinced, "But if that's what you want .. " called the caretaker to find out the price
"One moment Miss phone the owner" he answered, 10 minutes later reached them, "Mister McGregor is coming if you want to wait", the group nodded and they sat on the porch talking about the work to be done, the furniture was perfect so they would only change sofas and carpets, they saw a car arrive .
"Nice to meet you, I 'm George McGregor " said the man introducing himself smiling, "Sorry if I made you wait, you are the first to be interested in the shed for years" laughed, taking a seat in the house followed by the group,
"Don't worry" replied Sammy , "The house is for my friends" said introducing Y/N,
"Calling it home is a great compliment" he laughed, "Space is limited .. "
"My partner and I were not looking for something big but rather a little house to enjoy when not working" replied Y/N, "This is perfect for us",
"Before talking about money I have only one request .. more than the neighbors .. " he said worried, ".. many VIPs live in the area so there is a private surveillance service .. you should leave your data at the office in town ..", Sammy and Phil looked at Y/N trying not to laugh,
"Um my friend is Tom Hiddleston's girlfriend " she said cheerfully, "They will certainly appreciate the service .. I hope knowing that doesn't increase the price of the house" laughed in practice, for Y/N it was strange to be so direct, in Italy you would arrive at the price calmly, the man laughed,
"I could actually think about it .. " he said, "..but my family wants to get rid of the property, it's very far from the main house and the maintenance is not worth the money" the man and Sammy started talking in Scottish, cutting out Y/N and Phil from the bargaining, the woman picked up the phone,
"Tommy boy .. 200" said practice, " Sure .. yes park included .. 6 .. 3 .. beautiful in marble .. " answered the questions nodding, "He wants you" said passing the cell phone to Y/N,
" Honey do you like it?" asked the sweet man,
"Thomas I love it, I sent you some pictures, don't say yes just to make me happy there are other properties to see" she laughed hoping he liked it too,
"I saw them, there are some works to be done .. " he began, "..but it's a good thing I don't want to distort it, instead of the pool I'd make an artificial lake in the grove" said cheerfully,
"Sure? You really like it?" Y/N asked happily,
"Of course I like it, I wonder Sammy was so malleable" they laughed together,
"Come back to me please .. I love you" he said greeting her, the woman gave the cell phone to Sammy who greeted Tom before hanging up,
"Thomas wants to know when he is free to sign, he likes the house and the price is perfect" she said shaking the man's hand,
"I'll leave you my number, call me when your boyfriend is available" he said passing Y/N a business card, "I'm glad the house is in good hands",
"We will have the utmost care" she replied cheerfully, "Thanks for your availability at such short notice", they said goodbye and got back in the car to go to London,
"Aren't we going back to you?" asked Y/N on the way
"We're going to see me in London" she laughed seeing the woman's expression, "Tomorrow shopping and I don't know a better place than London to shop",
"Since we're going to London then I'll stop at home so we're all more comfortable, Phil will you stay with me?" asked his friend who nodded, “ Sammy do you think you can even get a hairdresser in shopping? I can't stand long hair anymore and you have to redo the color .. "
"Of course dear even if it is a pity they give you long hair, I also take advantage of it then, as soon as we arrive I call mine so we do not risk horrible things" they laughed, it took 2 hours to arrive, Sammy left them at home they would see them again the next morning .
" Poppy the house is really nice, once it's whitewashed and fixed it will be lovely" said Phil taking a drink,
" It's how we wanted it, small and semi-hidden" she replied, "And if there is surveillance, I'm more quiet", called Tom while Phil was in the shower,
"My love ailment?" she was always afraid of disturbing him at work,
"My Queen, imagine, I'm getting dressed to go to the canteen before going to the set" he replied cheerfully, "I looked at the photos, I like the house more and more .. how did you convince Sammy ?"
"I told her the truth .. we wanted a house for us not a hostel" she laughed "I have the owner's number waiting for your call when you are free .. are you sure you like it?" You're not doing it just for me .. "she asked shyly,
"You know that I love you and that I would do anything to make you happy .. " he began, "..but I wouldn't say yes just to make you happy, you're not the kind of woman who would accept such a thing" laughed hearing the woman hold back , "I really like the house, I can't wait to watch you bathe naked in the woods .. my nymph"
"Oh Thomas .. I love you" Y/N answered moved, he too had noticed that it wasn't her but he hadn't told her anything, " As long as I 'm at home do you need anything?"
"I would say no, maybe check your mail" he laughed before greeting her,
"I ordered Chinese so we don't go out," Phil informed her, " What's the schedule tomorrow ?"
"There's a couple of things missing for the house," said, "Then I don't know what Sammy wants to see .. "
"It 'a nice lady ..i remember you .. " he teased his friend, "..funny and sparkling"
“I don't know her very much but she always makes me laugh” Y/N answered opening to the bellboy, they had dinner and watched a movie before collapsing in bed.
Sammy arrived at 10 am doing something new .. rang the bell,
"Day" Y/N said sleepily, "You could have entered without ringing" she laughed going into the kitchen,
"I didn't want to disturb, one thing is when Tommy is around .. another is when you have guests" Sammy laughed over the coffee, "I know you and Phil are just friends don't look at me like that"
"Sorry I get constant attacks from paparazzi and fans I have become rigid about these things .. it's not like me" she said in a low voice, "But today I get my temper back just bend over and be afraid .. " she said seriously, Sammy stared at her and burst out laughing,
"Tommy will be happy" she said telling her some conversations she and Tom had in the last few days, ".. I think he wants hers back .. how is it that described you .. yes wilde kitty" she concluded, Y/N blushed violently the man called her so only in private, "I strangle him" thought as passed the coffee to Phil who was letting go of laughter, they went out and headed towards the center,
"Hair first!" Sammy said finding parking in front of the salon, "Phil are you coming with us?" asked the man,
"I guess not thanks" he laughed, " Poppy, I'll drop by the office and go home, see you when you get back to town for Tom's departure?" he asked hugging her,
"Sure darling and thanks for the company" she answered kissing him, they said goodbye and the women entered the hall,
" Mat hi here we are" she said cheerfully hugging the hairdresser, "She is Y/N .. bring out the colors",
"Nice to meet you" he said shaking her hand, "Let's start with you then, what did you have in mind?" asked making her sit down and putting a cape around her shoulders,
"I want to get rid of the extensions , shave the sides and go back to my fuchsia and blue" she said happy to get rid of that good girl hair that didn't belong to her,
"Great, Sabine prepares for the bleaching" told her assistant before starting to shave the woman's hair, the fake locks fell to the ground lightly, he took some scissors and removed the extensions one at a time, fixed the cut and put the bleach on first to get to work on Sammy ,
"Do you know that I almost copy you?" she said looking at Y/N cheerfully, "Not the cut of course .. but I've always wanted to try something bold",
"Are you sure?" Mat asked , "How about keeping your color above and below purple and pre-oil ?" he asked taking the color palette and trying them on, "Bold is fine but I know you dear .. " he laughed,
"I like the idea, they would only show when I move my hair or tie it" replied Sammy now convinced, Mat put the bleach on her too and moved to prepare the colors,
"Come on, let's take a picture like this with the bleach on our head .. let's terrorize our men" laughed Y/N posing sexy with the woman, they laughed like little girls, they waited for the answers that were not long in coming,
"David is horrified" Sammy laughed , "He says you have a bad influence on me",
"Thomas seems curious to see you with colored hair" she laughed, "Is this the first time?" asked puzzled,
"What a color change no .. that I do my hair purple absolutely yes " she laughed, "You have to be a little crazy sometimes .. and besides there is always total black in case", after half an hour they had white hair ready for the color,
"Do you have any preference for mixing?" Mat asked before applying the colors,
"Usually I put blue on the roots and blend up to fuchsia on the tips .. more fuchsia than blue though" she smiled, it was the first time someone made her the color she was no longer used to it,
"Perfect, let's start then, Sabine .. " the assistant called and they set to work, "If you like the result, I'll prepare you an envelope with the colors I used to make them yourself", the woman thanked and enjoyed the pampering , they brought an aperitif and ate something while they waited, once washed and dried Y/N looked at herself and found herself in the reflection of the mirror, she smiled happily,
"OMG !!" she turned to hear Sammy scream as looked at herself, "I don't know what to say I'm confused .. " laughed astonished,
" Sammy they look great on you," Y/N said, moving her locks behind to make the colors shine through,
"I like the result, with long hair like yours it's a great idea", Sammy kept looking at herself undecided,
" They are .. weird .. beautiful but really weird .. " she laughed, ".. why do they look so good on you?" she asked jealous,
" Because I am fabulous with these colors!!" laughed Y/N making the grimace, "And because I feel at ease, I look beautiful with these tones", they paid the bill and went out, they spent the rest of the morning wandering around the shops, Y/N ordered pillows and puofs for the house over there,
" Sammy, is there a florist in the area?" asked Y/N looking around, the woman nodded and led the way, around the corner there was a kiosk full of flowers,
"Day I would like a bouquet of yellow roses please" she said to the boy, "And if has them also one of sunflowers", Sammy looked at her curiously,
"I understand sunflowers .. why roses?" asked, "If I remember correctly they indicate jealousy .. are you all right dear?"
"Very well, I wanted to make a gift to "that" that's all" she replied cheerfully, Sammy looked at her sideways asking why,
" Well in the end she behaved like an ignoble being .. but if Thomas hadn't done it and I would never have met" she replied calmly, "It seemed nice to thank her"
"You are really twisted" said bursting out laughing, "I wish I was a fly to see his face", they finished the purchases and left for the set.
She found Thomas on the sofa going over, "as if he needed it" thought putting the flowers in the water,
"My King I missed you," she said, putting herself in his arms to kiss him,
" Honey welcome back" he said kissing her, ruffling her forelock, "You look great, like when I met you .. ruffled and colored" he laughed looking at her,
"How did the shopping go?" he asked not seeing envelopes or packages, "Weren't you inspired?"
"Have found something for the house, I did take home and warned Ali because mail it with the rest," smiled when she saw the startled face of the man at the mention of her pr , "And I took the flowers .. "
"I saw ..yellow roses?" he asked curiously, staring at her,
"Um really I'm for "that".. " Y/N answered laughing, "..and I apologize in advance" she concluded, staring at him to try to understand what he was thinking, the man kept staring at her undecided,
"Please explain Darling why I don't follow you .. " he answered curiously, "..I have some ideas but I want to hear it from you",
"I know it will seem absurd to you .. " she exposed almost guilty, suddenly was lacking the courage, ".. but if she hadn't behaved like a bitch we two will not be together now .. " said in a low voice,
" Darling .. " he said amazed, smiling at her, ".. I don't know what to say, if when it happened they told me that I would find the woman of my life I would have laughed .." he continued taking her in his arms,
".. Rice told me you're a vengeful type .. I see Lady Loki .. " he whispered biting her earlobe, Y/N meowed close to him,
"You are angry? I know how much it made you suffer and I don't want to seem numb but you have to understand that you have to start away" said Y/N embarrassed , the man stared at her smiling, hugged and stood up with his precious load in his arms going towards the bedroom,
"You'll see how angry I am Kitty " he growled smiling throwing her on the bed, Y/N smiled anticipating the punishment.
****
A month had passed by since the Institute's destruction and the Commonwealth was a step closer to finding the closest thing they could find to peace in this chaotic world. The minutemen were finally taking back the Commonwealth piece by piece, bouncing back from the hole they were dug into thanks to a particular person. There was no other way to celebrate such a huge step forward but with a party dedicated to the hero herself.
The usual silent night was filled with an abundance of music, laughter, and chattering that seemed to overlap one another. Sweaty bodies filled the streets of Sanctuary, dancing against one another or simply exchanging a few drinks and words. The bars were filled with people who drank the night away while telling tales that seemed too far fetched to be considered true. It wasn't everyday a party was commenced, so the settlers saw this as an opportunity to lay back and relax with each other, throwing away any thought of danger clouding their minds.
Sturges leaned against the wall, arms crossed as his eyes scanned the settlement with a smile. He wasn't very keen with social gatherings such as these and preferred to shy himself away from the crowd unless a person were to confront him first. Even then, he wasn't really strong with carrying conversations, which could easily make him very boring to many people. Besides, he'd rather spend his night working on some power armor or fixing a wall - well, anything that could keep his hands busy, really. With a soft sigh, he lifted the glass he was holding and brought it to his lips, feeling the whiskey burn as it went down.
As he withdrew from his drink, his ears perked up at the sound of Jun's voice through the wall he was leaning on. Guess it wasn't as soundproof as he thought it'd be. Sturges turned his head towards the opposite direction, hoping that the sound of music would distract him from the conversation between Jun and whoever he spoke to, but found himself mindlessly taking in their words despite his attempts.
"I-I love you. You know that, right?" His voice sounded muffled, but Sturges could make out every word he was saying. He had heard a soft sniffle in response, but heard the familiar voice of Jun's wife, Marcy Long, respond with a raspy, tired voice as if she'd been crying for quite a while.
"I know that you do."
"So why are you crying? Is it cause of me? I-If it was, you can always tell me." He lightly tapped his glass with his finger, hearing the sound of rustling echo throughout the room.
"It's not you, Jun. It's not even sad tears, I'm just-" A sigh left Marcy's mouth, "I'm wondering if Kyle is at peace now. Now that we're safe and growing, I wonder if he's watching us."
Sturges felt a twinge at his heart hearing that statement. It was sorrowful; how they lost their son within moments. He'd never forget the look on their faces the day it happened, the sound of Marcy's screams and Jun's cries for help as their son passed haunted him. Despite Marcy constantly being an ass to every settler, he knew that she was suffering from the loss of her son and this was her way of expressing her grief. He had never spoken an ill word to her despite her attitude and instead, tried to lift the two up from time to time. It worked on some days, but most days, it hadn't. He continued to listen, despite his mind pleading him not to.
"I-I believe he is. I know I've been a mess lately, but everyday gets a little better and I want you to know that we're never alone." Another sniffle.
Before he could catch Marcy's response, a familiar voice jolted him on his two feet, allowing him to stand straight instead of leaning on the wall. "Hey Sturges, I was getting worried you were working on some power armor instead of enjoying yourself."
He slowly turned around, coming face to face with Preston, who smiled and tipped his hat towards him. He smiled awkwardly, tapping the glass with his finger once more. Dang, maybe he really should've just worked on something - his hands yearned for it at this point. With a soft chuckle, he responded. "Nearly gave me a heart attack."
Preston slightly grinned, "Didn't mean to scare you, just thought you'd like some company. You look pretty lonely here."
"Lonely ain't the word that quite fits my mood. Maybe the word 'content' suits it a little better, but I don' mind your company." Preston let a laugh evade his lips before leaning his back on the wall besides him. "Why don't you join the others up there, it's not as bad as you think. Maybe a few drunks here and there, but you should be fine." Sturges leaned near him, staring down at the drink in his hand. "You know I'm not a fella to party. Not much of a talker either."
"I guess I wouldn't want you any other way." Preston took a swig from his bottle, a smile never escaping his lips. "I'm proud. Proud of how far we came. After losing all those people, I never thought I'd move past that." Sturges looked at Preston, who took off his hat. "But we're here now. Never thought I'd see the day. I can't take all the credit, though, Sole was the mastermind behind all this." Sturges let out a hum of agreement.
"Without that little missy of ours, we wouldn't have been standin' here in the first place. We really do owe her one."
"Of course. Big time." Preston let out a sigh, "Without her, I don't think I could've made it. This party isn't enough to repay her for the deeds she's done for us." Sturges' eyes scanned his surroundings, looking for the familiar face being mentioned. Preston made a point - It was her party, so why couldn't he see her around? With a party like this, he'd imagine her usual cheerful self running around and having fun with everyone, but none of that was happening.
"Where is she anyway?" Preston let out a thoughtful hum, tapping his chin in wonder. With a surprised expression, he pushed himself off of the wall, looking around.
"Huh, I guess I don't remember seeing her either. Maybe I'll try asking Hancock or MacCready. They might know." Preston tipped his hat once more at Sturges before turning around to go into the crowd, "I'll catch you around."
He nodded, sending him a small, simple wave. "Yeah, hope you find her." He watched as Preston lost himself in the sea of people and looked down at his feet. Though he tried to perish the thought, he continued to ponder her whereabouts, wondering if something happened. He stood up straight, dusting his coveralls and headed towards the streets of Sanctuary. Maybe a little work on some pre-war tech wouldn't hurt.
**
Sturges yawned tiredly, reading a manual Sole had given him from her adventures. He was restless and couldn't put a finger as to why he was. It wasn't very often he couldn't catch sleep - it would only ever happen if he was immensely anxious or troubled but he was neither of those things tonight. He rubbed his eyes before shutting his book and laying it on the nightstand near his bed. He stood from his bed, gently throwing his sheets off of him.
Sturges made a mental reminder to fix those once he returned from his walk. Before exiting his room, he grabbed the white shirt hanging on the chair and slipped it on to avoid the chilliness in the air. The party was now over and the only sound that could be heard outside the walls were the crickets chirping.
He quietly crept towards the front door, carefully shutting it behind him to ensure he didn't wake anyone. Even if he did shut it carelessly, they'd probably be too blacked out to be pulled out of slumber. With a relieved sigh, he walked towards the bridge in hopes to clear his mind of anything that clouded it. Unfortunately for him, he was unsure of what it was. As he approached closer to his destination, his eye had caught a familiar figure leaning over the railing, a bottle in their hand. He knew that glow from their wrist from anywhere, its what pulled her apart from others. Well, besides the whole saving the Commonwealth thing, of course.
Sole didn't notice the man creeping out near her and nearly shrieked, pulling the gun on him as she felt a touch on her shoulder. Sturges backed away quickly with a shocked expression, holding both his hands in the air.
"Woah, woah! It's just me, darlin'. Ain't here to hurt ya or anythin', I swear." A look of horror crossed her face as she quickly retreated the gun from his chest. "Oh god, Sturges! Don't do that. I almost pulled the trigger on you!"
He slowly put his hands down, making his way to the free spot near her. "Wouldn't blame ya if ya did." He leaned his back on the railing, watching as sole moved back to her previous position, taking the beer bottle to her lips. The bottle lingered there for a bit, much to his concern.
"Now, now. We both know that stuff won't do anythin' good for ya." His words probably meant nothing to her; she could do whatever the hell she wanted and he knew that. As usual, she replied with the same playful sarcasm she put out for anyone and everyone.
"Sorry, mom." Sturges couldn't help but chuckle. She sent him a smile of her own before staring back at the stream under her that seemed to stretch endlessly. His brow raised in a questioning manner as her smile dropped as fast as it formed. He didn't want to bring it up directly to her, deciding to just beat around the bush to make things a little less suspicious.
"You know, that party wasn't really kickin' without ya. I'm not the only one who's noticed you've been gone." Sole glanced at him for a moment before looking forward once more, taking another sip of her drink. Oh how he wished he could smack that bottle out of her hand. She already looked miserable, that dreading beverage probably wasn't helping her in any way.
"What are you talking about? I was there, in the shadows, watching you," she bantered, hoping that maybe he'd drop the subject, "Better get your eyesight checked, pretty boy." He flushed at the nickname, his eyes widening for a mere second. Sturges wasn't really used to the whole nickname topic and had never personally received one from anyone besides Mama Murphy. Sole giggled at his expression, "If your eyes go any wider, they might fall and roll out."
Sturges snapped back to reality, an embarrassed smile playing on his face. "Oh, uh, right. But I was serious, y'know." Now it was Sole's turn to lean back on the railing; she gave her full attention to the pip-boy that wrapped around her wrist. The light illuminated on her face and he felt his words die as he caught the redness of her eyes. Guess that explained why she hadn't looked at him straight in the eye. Had she been crying?
"I just needed time alone. All that noise was hurting my head." Whatever she was going through, he didn't want to pry into it. It was her business, yet, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on in that mind of hers. His eyes flickered from her to the device that lightened the darkness between them.
"You can always chat with me. I ain't gonna judge ya'." Sole shook her head gently, her eyes never leaving the screen of her beloved device.
"I know you won't judge me, Sturges. I'm fine, really." She lied through her teeth, sucking in a breath to avoid the tears threatening to spill from her eyes. He didn't buy it, not one bit but decided that if she was ready to talk about it, she would. The last thing he wanted to do was make her uncomfortable, especially with the condition she was in.
"Alright, darlin'. Just know my offer always stands. If ya ever need me, you know where to go." He pushed himself off the railing, fully facing her. "Let me walk ya' home, things can get pretty dangerous during this time. I ain't about to leave you out here in the open, 'specially while you're drinking that stuff."
With a sigh, she nodded, not having the energy to fight back with him. "Good." He said, walking side by side with her towards the direction of her home. By the time Sturges dropped her home, he waved at her as a goodbye and they departed without another word. Once he reached his bed, he felt his body grow heavy with exhaustion. He looked outside his window, looking at the curtains on Sole's bedroom window. Before he knew it, his vision blackened.
An Analogical Christmas
Merry Christmas, Circuit. <3 I love you dude, thanks for the fun times we’ve had together.
---
So as you all know, it is now Christmas. And for my lovely friend @short-circut, I wrote a fluffy little Christmas oneshot for Analogical.
Enjoy.
___
It was 5 am. Logan stood over his and Virgil’s bed, holding his phone and squinting at the message he’d left himself on there. It was something Virgil had told him some time ago, something about how his Christmases had used to be when he was a kid--back before his life had spiraled, and they had met, and their new life had begun in the ashes of the old. Such a long time ago but…Logan remembered. He always did.
A tired blue light shone on his face as he read over the note again.
They always had the Christmas tree all strung up in the corner of the living room, with the lights on so that it was the first thing me and my brothers saw when we came downstairs. Each of us had a special ornament with our name on it, and we could hang it wherever we wanted.
On Christmas morning when we came downstairs my mom and pop would have cookies and cocoa waiting for us—it was the only time we were ever allowed to eat in the living room, and the only time we could eat that kinda junk so early in the morning. We’d watch a movie together, and then my mom would have us open the presents. We’d play in the snow…
Logan knew how impossible it would be to recreate all of that perfectly, but he remembered the details Virgil had told him so vividly for a reason—he knew he hadn’t imagined the sharp bittersweet look on Virgil’s face as he recounted the memories, memories that were clearly something very special and happy to him. And while his husband’s situation was worlds away from what it had been this year, Logan still wanted to be able to make this day special for his husband.
Which brought him back to why he was desperately trying to wake himself up as he quietly pulled a tree into the house from the garage—it wasn’t real, he hadn’t been able to get one of those, but he thought it would do—setting it up as carefully and silently as he could in the corner of the living room. He and Virgil had both been so stressed that neither had thought much about Christmas this year...at least, that was how it had been until a week ago, when they’d shared old memories and Virgil’s Christmas ones had tumbled from him in a messy sort of sadness and happiness, and Logan had made his mind up—he was going to make his Star a special surprise for this Christmas…something that, he hoped, could make Virgil smile.
It was 3am. Virgil was stressed, Logan was tired, and somehow they’d both found themselves downstairs with mugs of hot chocolate in their hands. Logan had looked at Virgil with a chocolate moustache he didn’t know was there, and when his husband saw it he smiled; then laughed.
Everyone deserved to smile on Christmas. And with the year the couple had had this time around, with its rough spots and hard times and too much stress, Logan felt that Virgil especially deserved it. And while he was no master of emotions, he would do anything to make his Star smile. Anything.
It took some digging around, but after a bit of searching Logan unearthed an old box of ornaments and cautiously brought it to the living room. He took out a blue and a purple one and set those aside, then got to work setting up the tree. It wasn’t large and Logan had never claimed to be much of a decorator…but he did his best to set the display up in what he thought was a pleasing array of lights, ornaments, and a silver garland to complete the look.
It was raining. Logan gripped the steering wheel in his hands as water splattered over the windshield, maneuvering their car as best he could over the wet streets. Their town’s lights shone through the raindrops on the windshield in a golden wash of light, illuminating a sleeping Virgil who’d curled up in the passenger’s seat. Logan felt his irritation and stress melt away at the peaceful look on his face, and how beautiful he was in the golden light that swept over his soft patch hoodie…he looked like an angel, he’d thought.
Next, Logan moved on to the kitchen. There he meticulously followed a recipe for molasses cookies—Virgil’s favorite, he’d learned not long after the two started dating. Neither of them were a fan of the usual decorated sugar cookies, and though Virgil had described those as being part of his childhood memories Logan thought he might appreciate these more…he hoped he was right about that.
Laughter. So much laughter; the kind that made tears stream from your eyes and your stomach hurt from it all. Patton, covered in flour and Virgil no less affected, both of them staring at each other with wide eyes and clothes covered in white powder. They’d been baking a cake for Roman’s birthday, and had turned on the mixer too fast. The kitchen was a mess, and Logan just couldn’t stop laughing. Soon the other two joined in, and then they all collapsed to the floor, snickering and giggling until they looked at each other and it all started up again.
Logan moved with a deathly quiet as he got everything set up—Virgil was a notoriously light sleeper, and the slightest sound could awaken him and ruin the whole thing, so he had to be as careful as possible getting everything ready. Luckily however Logan was experienced in such things—both in committing to his late-night wanderings without waking his husband, and without being much of a loud sort in general.
The lamp was on. And though it was the time of night when anybody with an ounce of sanity was unconscious, they were both awake. Logan, who read from a book about space aloud to Virgil, who’d had a nightmare. He leaned against Logan’s shoulder, eyes closed while his hands shook and Logan read; read on in a gentle, steady voice. And soon, Virgil had fallen to sleep again, and Logan let him lean against him. He’d let his husband sleep while he could.
It was now approaching 7am. Logan set out the still-warm cookies on the table, plugged in the tree, and wrapped up the peppermint/hot chocolate/coffee concoction he’d created (Virgil’s favorite) to leave in the fridge until the proper time came to heat it up. He pulled a few small gifts he’d been saving and ever-so carefully wrapped them, placing them gently under the tree before retiring back to bed.
Upon returning to their room Logan saw that his mission had been a success—Virgil had hardly stirred since he disappeared, and only mumbled something about waffles before shifting over as Logan rejoined him.
Success.
---
A few hours later, something nudged him awake.
“Mmm, Logan.” Logan opened his eyes to see Virgil leaning over him, a tired lopsided grin plastered on his face. “Morning. Merry Chris’mas.” Logan allowed himself to smile at his husband and sat up, letting Virgil draw him into a hug. The soft material of his purple sweater was soft, and gentle, and Logan closed his eyes as he rested his cheek on Virgil’s shoulder.
“I love you, Star,” he whispered.
“I love you too.” Virgil got up and started towards the door, not bothering to change out of his black-and-white skeleton pajama pants. Logan followed him; keeping his face neutral so as not to give away the surprise. His husband rubbed at his eyes as he stepped out into the hallway…
And stopped.
“Logan?” Virgil whispered, staring at the staircase in shock as he saw what was behind it. “Is that…is that a tree? Did…did you…” Logan walked up beside him and smiled a little, watching Virgil as he nearly ran down the stairs to the living room. His jaw dropped at the sight of the Christmas tree before him and he froze for a moment, slowly taking the scene in.
“I…I don’t know what to say,” he whispered after a long moment, turning to Logan with tears in his eyes. “I can’t believe you remembered…this is amazing, Logan.”
“Merry Christmas,” Logan told him, and Virgil rushed into his arms with a quiet, choked thank you. He could only nod; he wasn’t sure how long they stood there, just holding each other, but he couldn’t have been happier about it. He couldn’t have been happier to see Virgil looking so delighted to see his memories come to life, to know that he’d done something good…and while he wasn’t sure he wanted to admit it, it made him feel good too.
Virgil suddenly sniffed at the air, and his eyes widened.
“Are those…are those molasses cookies?” he whispered incredulously, looking down at the plate he hadn’t noticed before.
“Indeed they are. I also made you some hot chocolate…” Logan disappeared into the kitchen, and came back a few minutes later with two steaming mugs, one of which he passed off to his husband. Virgil slowly sank down onto the sofa as he looked at the hot chocolate in his hands, not bothering to wipe away the tears that quietly slipped down his cheeks at the sight.
“Is everything okay, Virgil?” Logan asked, frowning a little. His husband gave him a watery smile.
“More than okay,” he whispered. “So much more than okay…”
“I also…I believe that this was a part of your tradition, as well?” Logan hesitantly pulled out the two ornaments he’d set aside earlier, one with the name Virgil and the other with the name Logan painted on it in perfectly neat letters. Virgil let out a soft gasp as he saw the them, gingerly taking his ornament and staring at it. Another tear slid down his cheek, and he smiled.
“Oh my god…you remembered all of it...” he looked at Logan with shining eyes and then took both of the ornaments, standing up and hanging them next to each other on the tree. Then he came back, curling up against Logan and they both watched the snow fall outside the window.
For a long time, they were both quiet. Each of them enjoyed the silence, taking the time to appreciate it with their cookies and hot chocolate. Virgil stared out the window, and Logan noted after some time that his eyes were distant; remembering.
Then, Virgil started to hum. It was a familiar tune, the kind you recognized immediately and the kind that got played way too often in shopping malls around Christmastime. But here…here, in their quiet, little house curled up next to each other, watching the snow fall…
It was beautiful.
Then Virgil started to sing.
Silent Night, Holy Night
All was calm, all was bright,
At first Logan was too shocked to do anything but stare at his husband in an awed silence, amazed once again by the incredible singing voice of Virgil that he so rarely heard. But then the tune wrapped him in its sweet embrace, and he felt himself joining in as the last part of the verse came around.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
The two stopped as the song ended, then slowly turned and looked at each other. Virgil smiled at Logan, the little half-smile that he loved so much, and then hugged him.
“Thank you,” he whispered. “Thank you for bringing me back.”
Logan pressed a butterfly-light kiss to his forehead.
 And there they stayed for a long time, curled into each other’s sides, watching the snow fall. Enjoying the silence; enjoying each other; enjoying their memories.
Because really, when you had with you the person you loved most in the world, nothing else really mattered.
 Merry Christmas everybody.
Summary: This story is about Feyre. She has a couple of small dreams she wants to achieve but turns out it isn’t as easy as she imagined it would. Trust me, the story is better than the summary. Modern AU. Feysand.
The Epilogue series...Their Ending
(Part One)
Five years later…
Rhys's POV
I stared at the ring in my hand. I'd called Mor over to my house. Feyre's house too. We'd been living together for more than four years and I'd known her for at least two years longer than that. I still couldn't believe that after six years of being with Feyre, I was finally doing it. I was, though. She deserved it. She deserved the world. And as hard as I might've tried, I'd failed at giving her that. It had never felt enough. And because of that, I'd concluded that the only thing I could give to her was…me. It was as simple as that.
But I needed to show the ring to Mor first. I need to know that it was enough, that Feyre would like it. That Mum would approve. The ring had been in my family for generations, passing from one female down to the other. The ring had been for her, my sister. My beautiful, beloved sister. But she was no longer here. I knew if Mum had had the chance, she would've told me to only give this ring to a girl who would be able to stand equal to me. To know when to show compassion and love but also bravery and her steel-will. Whoever got the ring had to be worth it.
Feyre was worth it. I was sure of it. But I still wanted to show Mor.
When I brought the ring out, Mor gasped. She looked up at me, eyes wide, and then back down. And back at me. And then back down. Up and down her head went a few more times, before finally stopping. A slow grin spread across her face. "Really? Are you really doing it?" I nodded. "Oh, Rhys. Oh my god, Rhys! Oooooh, my god!" She hugged me, tears streaming down her face. "Oh Rhys, I'm sooo happy for you. You two are perfect together. You're going to be so beautiful together." She hugged me again, and I knew that she was right. Feyre and I were beautiful together. Perfect.
The next day…
Feyre's POV
"It'll be okay, alright. It'll be fine!" Sarah said to me. I was panicking. She'd already helped me with the organisation of the whole exhibition. Exhibition! Our very own, first exhibition, ever! I'd been working on it for so long now and it was finally coming together. We'd spread the word and were expecting a fair amount of people to walk in, in exactly one hour.
All the money generated would go toward Heal By Art, the organisation Rhys and I had established together. It was an organisation that helped anyone and everyone with any mental issues or trauma they were going through, by way of art. It wasn't just my paintings here on the display. Every single person who came to even one of my weekly classes had at least one painting on display here. Heal By Art wasn't just about overcoming your own turmoils though. I liked to think of it as a place where anyone who needed the help or friends could come in and have fun. They were safe from the outside world and for just one hour, they could forget about everything in the world—work, school, family, friends, deadlines to meet, things to do—and just be. They could lose themselves in their paintings and have fun doing it on their own or with the friends they made at each class.
I loved my work. I loved what I was doing. I loved to see the first time a person came in, all sombre and unsmiling but left with eyes slightly more bright and aware, skin glowing a little more. And with each class, they attended the glow intensified. They smiled more, laughed more. They got out of their comfort zones and tried something new. They could put all their emotions into their paintings.
It was heaven. Everything I'd ever dreamed of doing.
The exhibition started and the first hour passed sluggishly. Rhys wasn't here. After he'd helped me with the founding of Heal By Art he had moved into finance. He helped multiple companies, as well as Heal By Art, and was always moving from one meeting to another. I helped him when I could, and I didn't mind. We both loved our work and always made sure to get home on time no matter what so that we could have those few hours together every day. He had another meeting today which meant he couldn't come to the exhibition. It was disappointing but he had promised to make it up to me. I was holding him to it. A few more hours passed as I talked to people, explained to them what Heal By Art was and just watched as everything went perfectly. The exhibition was doing what it was meant to do—get the word out that we were a thing and anyone could come in and join. They could make some friends, get some help, and learn the skill of painting as an addition.
Around three in the evening, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Sarah. "Rhys is here." She told me, smiling. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Really! Where?" She pointed in the direction of the door and I turned to find him there, standing in the doorway, looking at me with a wide smile on his face. I ran up to him, throwing my arms around his broad shoulders. "Rhys! You made it!"
"Of course I did, Feyre Darling. How could I have not?" He said, tightening his arms around me.
"But what about your meeting?" I asked, pulling away to look at his handsome, tan face.
"Finished early." I smiled. He carried on. "And can I just say, you look absolutely stunning in this dress." He held me at arm's length and I blushed. In the five or six years, Rhys and I had been together, I'd gotten a lot of confidence. I no longer shied away from male contact and often wore sleeve-less or knee-length dresses. I enjoyed wearing these type of things. I knew Rhys found them to be very flattering on me, and I loved how beautiful I felt in each one. Today, I was wearing a thin-strapped dress that came down to my ankles. A slit ran up my right leg and the neck cut straight across my chest. The print was floral, all pink, purple, blue and green colours. I utterly loved it, but hearing it from Rhys made it that much better.
For the next couple of hours or so, I showed Rhys around the place, just like I had with the people who had come in. We talked with others, discussed the paintings and accepted praise about the organisation itself, the artwork hanging around the place and other things too.
In the end, I thanked everyone, with Rhys's arm around my waist and mine his, for dropping in and told them all their donations would be very helpful and that they could drop into the studio, where I held the weekly classes, any time they liked if they were considering joining or even just to look around. Once the building had been cleared of all the paintings and taken back to the studio, we came home and I was taken aback at finding dinner already made. When I expressed my surprise, Rhys said he'd come home first to do all this before coming to the exhibition. "Did you really make it though?" I asked incredulously, aware he was not telling me everything. He stared at me, his eye narrowing slowly before he grudgingly shook his head and said "Takeaway."
I laughed, and kissed him. "Well, thank you, anyways." He smiled. We settled in for dinner and quickly finished it. I was just getting out of the bathroom, ready for bed, when I noticed him. He was sitting right there at the foot of the bed, head down. He was rotating a small box in his hand, nervously, his knee bouncing up and down. I paused. As the night progressed, he'd slowly been getting quieter and quieter, as if lost in his thoughts. I'd just put it off to exhaustion or something from work, but now, seeing that box in his hands, I wondered if he quietness had been for some other reason entirely. Suddenly his head snapped up. "Feyre." He said, gulping. I stared at him. He stood. Crossed the small distance between us. And then he started speaking. "After some time, the idea of spending the rest of your life with someone else can become very daunting or the best feeling in the world." The room around me disappeared. "It would have to depend on your partner. I've thought about it for so long now, that the idea of spending the rest of my life with you seems like a given. I don't know anything different." My eyes widened. "I would need your acceptance, of course, for that. But don't worry, I know you're stubborn so I've prepared a few reasons why you should say yes to me." I gulped. He wanted a yes? "I love you Feyre. I have since the day I saw you for the first time in that class. I often find myself looking at you and thinking that I feel like dying. Like I can't breathe. I think that I want you so badly, I can't concentrate half the time I'm around you. You were my salvation, Feyre. You saved me from myself." I sucked in a breath. "You were my friend through many dangers. My lover who had healed my broken and weary soul. You waited for me against all hope, despite all odds." Tears dripped down my face and I wondered if love was to weak a word for what he felt, what he'd done for me. For what I felt for him. And slowly, so slowly as if the world was moving in slow motion, he dropped down to his knee. Took my hand and placed the box, open now, in my hand. I gasped. Inside was a sapphire ring, the stone so deeply blue. Put in the right light, the six points off the star would radiate across the round opaque surface. The ring itself was twisted strands of gold and silver, flecked with pearl. I started nodding before he even finished the words: "Will you marry me, Feyre?"
"Yes," I whispered. Tears slip down his face. Tears were slipping down my face, I realised now. His expression said he couldn't believe my words, so I said, "Yes," louder, but still, softly. "Yes. yes, yes, yes I'll marry you." My voice got louder and clearer with each yes, and he smiled, more widely than I'd ever seen him smile. He took the ring out of the box and pocketed it. I watched as he took my hand again and slipped the ring on to my finger. His eyes were on me the whole time, and as he stood to his feet, I threw my arms around his shoulder, and legs around his waist. He laughed, twirling me around the room, and kissing me everywhere he could. "I love you, Feyre," I heard him say, "So much."
"I love you, Rhys." I whispered back.
(Part Two)
A year later…
I carefully set the tiara on her head as she stared at herself in the mirror. Nesta. It was her day today. Exactly one year after mine. Elain and Azriel were going to have their day too, in only six months or so. I helped Nesta into her dress and she nervously fixed up the baby hairs that had escaped her hair which was groomed into a crown. I touched up her blush and made sure she looked perfect. She did. She was finally ready. I kneeled in front of her so that our eyes were at the same height. I could hear her breathing deep with nervousness. "He loves you, Nesta. I know that in my heart, and I know you do too. Don't be afraid. Be happy. Together." She looked at me, tears in her eyes.
"Thank you, Feyre." She said and I smiled before helping her to her feet.
I half ran-half walked up to the left side of the altar, giving a small smile to Rhys in his black and white suit who's standing on the other side with Azriel, and put my hand in Elain's. I felt her squeeze mine and I squeezed it back quickly before bringing my attention to the aisle. There, at the back, Nesta stood in her regal white-laced gown, an arm linked with Father's. A Thousand Years on the piano filled the small garden area where Nesta and Cassian had decided to get married. They walked slowly, in time with the music, Nesta's gaze never leaving Cassian's. He looked stunning in his simple black and white suit with a light grey tie and had an amazingly wide smile on his face. I could see his impatience and excitement just looking at him bouncing on the balls of his feet. I smiled.
Nesta reached the altar, and Cassian took her hand. They spoke their vows and then each said, "I do." And kissed. The audience broke out in cheers and applause and I smiled, remembering my special day and Elain's upcoming one.
(Part Three)
6 months later…
I dry heaved into the toilet, gasping. The third time this week. I'd been due for my period a week ago.
Rhys was at work, and I'd taken the day off, instantly feeling sick and bloated when I woke up. I quickly brushed my teeth and washed my face, before changing into some sweatpants and a t-shirt and driving to the nearest pharmacy. I quickly picked up a random pregnancy test before coming home. Ten minutes later, it was confirmed.
That night when he came home, dinner was already made. He kissed me before going to the bathroom to freshen up while I made him a plate and put a DVD in for us to watch together.
Once dinner was finished and we were ready for bed, I pulled Rhys into my arms. "I have something to tell you." I say slowly. He silently cocked his head in question and I swallowed, biting my lip. I hesitated, taking some deep breaths, and he frowned. "What is it, Feyre?" He said bringing me down to sit on the bed, beside him. I swallowed once more before speaking. "I'm pregnant." His eyes widened and I instantly worried that he didn't want this, not now, not ever. But then Rhys's lips curved into a giant smile, laughing, and I realised he did. He did want this. He wanted this with me. His laugh was like music to my ears and I was stunned as he kissed me, sweetly, softly, as if we had all the time in the world. And that was the magic of it. We did. We did have forever. "I love you Feyre. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you so much."
(Part Four)
Five years later…
"Come on, Isa!" I shouted as I left the door open behind me. My hand was on my belly, as I got into the car, making sure I didn't bang it anywhere. I didn't think the babe in my stomach would enjoy that. Seconds later, Isa came out too, closing the door behind himself. As he got in the car I asked him to if he had everything. "Books?" A nod.
"Lunch box? Drink bottle?"
"Yes, Mama."
"Pencil case?"
"Yes, Mama!" He exclaimed, stretching out his yes. "Let's go! We're gonna be late." I ruffled his dark, shaggy, hair, smiling.
I drove him to his school and before he could get out of the car, I kissed him on his forehead. As he got out of the car, I said, "Bye, Is. Good luck!" But he was already lost in the crowd of kids before I get my last words out. I drove away with the memory of his crushing blue eyes, that resembled Rhys's so closely, shining with excitement for his first day of school, and his mouth, just like the one I had, stretched in a wide smile.
(The last part…I think)
Forty-five years later…
"Rhys." I croaked, worried. He was on the bed, his skin pale, hair streaked grey and silver. He was having a coughing fit and I shouted to Nia, telling her to get her father a glass of water. She came in seconds later with a glass and he thankfully took it from her, smiling even as he choked. After drinking a few gulps he put the glass on the bedside table with shaky hands. His head thudded down onto his pillow, sighing as if that small action alone has exhausted him. His mouth opened in speech but I couldn't hear what he's saying with my deaf ears. Nia took her ear to his mouth and told me that he wanted to speak with me in private. I nodded at her and she left the room. I slowly walked up to him, grunting as I sat on the edge of the bed, beside him. I sighed, before looking to Rhys. His face was crinkled and paper-thin. I laid my hand against his cheek. His skin was dangerously warm. "Rhys?" I said.
Smiling, he said, "Feyre." Even after all these years, I could still hear the love he felt for me in his voice, even in the one simple word, and as he spoke, I thanked whoever was out there for having brought us together. "I'm dying, I think." He chuckled and tears escaped my eyes as I scrambled to wipe them away. His smile didn't leave. "I love you, Feyre. I have always loved you. You made me happy. You brought Isa and Nia into my life. You brought yourself into my life. And stayed. I will forever be thankful for that. Thank you Feyre, for giving me the best life I could've ever imagined living." He coughed, spitting out some blood. I looked at him with worry as he quickly tried to wipe the blood away, not wanting me to see it. Rhys didn't have long left. As he wiped his hand with a tissue, I knew he was thinking the same. He looked back at me, tears glimmering in his violet eyes that still shone bright, untouched by the years that had passed since we met. "I want everyone to be here. I want to tell them that I love them before I leave." Tears streamed down his face and into his hair. I wiped them away, kissing him on his forehead before nodding.
It took a few days for all of them to arrive. There wasn't a lot of us. Nia and Isa's families were already here; Mor, Elain, Azriel and Varian, Amren's partner, had already left us.
Nesta, Cassian, their kids and Amren came in, my kids following behind them. Isa helped Rhys upright on his insistence before he addressed all us. "You all have been so wonderful to me. I will forever be grateful to all of you. Every single one of you brought light into my life and I will forever remember that, even when I'm long gone. Thank you for every single laugh, smile, hug, kiss, each and every one of you gave me." Each of us hugged him, tears falling down our faces.
Nesta's family didn't stay the night but Amren did as she'd had to fly in while Nesta's family had driven here. While Amren and I worked making breakfast the next morning I asked Cara, Isa's youngest daughter, to go and bring her grandfather into the dining room. Not two minutes later, I heard her shout. "Gran! Gran! Mom!" Spotting me in the kitchen, she ran up to me and said in a low soft voice, "He's not waking up. He's gone, Gran." I stared at her for a few seconds before giving her tight hug. That day, I spent the whole time crying at Rhys's side.
(The last part…actually, now)
Three years later…
"It's my turn now," I croaked out to Nia and Isa. They sat on either side of me, eyes swollen and gaunt. A sob escaped Nia. "It's okay, Nia. It's time for me to go now. Everyone has to go at one point." She shook her head, unwilling to accept it. I laid my hand against her cheek, and Isa's. "You two were one of the best things that happened to your father and I. We never regretted either of you. Thank you for all the joy you bought into our lives." A cough racked my body and I felt blood at the back of my throat. I swallowed it before saying, "Be happy, alright? After I leave, don't mope about it. Instead, remember the fun times we had together. Be happy." I smiled at them.
That night before I closed my eyes for the last time, I thought of Rhys. The first time we met, the banter between us, our kisses, our wedding, when I'd told him about Nia when we held our first grandchild in our arms. Such sweet memories, sweet times. The sweetest of them all.
I fell asleep with a smile on my lips and a peaceful mind.
AN: *sigh* The end. I've already said most of what I wanted to say but thank you so much for reading. I felt the last few chapters were necessary as I wanted to give Feyre and Rhysand the ending they deserve. This was it for me. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I loved writing it. Let me know what you think. XOXO
The Oath | Ch. 2 “Strange Whisky Man”
a/n: thank you SO much to everyone who read and left comments on the first chapter! It means everything to me when I read that you liked this story. I hope you enjoy this chapter <3
Ch. 1
January 21, 2019
When Claire opened her eyes to the sun streaming through the window over the white linen sheets, her mind was blank. For a few brief, quiet moments, she forgot the events of the past twelve hours. But then as she turned to her side and realized she wasn’t in her own bed, she remembered why and fear crept in.
What the bloody hell was she going to do?
She moved in with Frank three years ago when they came to Edinburgh after she graduated from university. Their home was her home. A place where they had both created memories, shared Christmases and even talked about getting married.
As she sat up, her hands moved to her forehead, pressing against the temples to ease the throbbing ache. She was going to take things one day at a time. And after all… Geillis had said she could stay as long as she needed to, thank God she had a spare room.
Feeling a bit lost without her phone, Claire sighed as she put one foot after the other on the carpeted floor and stood. Her joints popped as she stretched her hands high above her head.
“You can do this, Beauchamp.” Claire took a deep breath and steeled herself for the day, ready to face whatever new challenges came at her.
When she walked out into Geillis’ living room, she was surprised to see boxes of her stuff sitting on the floor.
“Geillis?” She called out, walking through the house to find her friend.
“In the kitchen!”
The red headed woman was standing in front of the stove, spatula in hand, flipping bloody pancakes. Claire felt overwhelmed by so many different emotions and walked over to Geillis and wrapped her arms around her.
“Oh, Claire.” Geillis smiled and wrapped one arm around her waist. “Ye alright, lass?”
“I will be,” Claire smiled as best she could. “I just… love you a lot. You’ve picked up my stuff from my shitty ex and now you’re making pancakes.”
“Aye,” Geillis grinned and then turned back to the stove. “I’m just doin’ all these nice things for ye so someday when I need a favor, ye have no choice but to help.”
Claire scoffed, “I don’t think I have a choice whether I help you or not. Geillis Duncan does not simply ask, she demands.” They both laughed at the truth of the statement. When Claire had first moved to Edinburgh, she had been quite reserved and was slow to make friends. Geillis had spoken to her on her first day of work and Claire knew they would hit it off.
Her friend was also usually right about everything. Last night, Geillis had mentioned how she never felt right around Frank and now there was a reason why. He was a cheater, a liar and a manipulative bastard.
Biting the inside of her cheek to keep the tears at bay, Claire walked over to the cabinet, grabbing a glass for water.
“Did you get my phone by chance? I hope I don’t have too many missed messages.”
“Och, aye I did. I plugged it in on my charger in my room, ye can go and get it.”
“Thank you again,” Claire smiled and went to fetch her phone. When she unlocked it, she had only one message from a colleague updating her about a patient who was in critical care. Thankfully all was well, but Claire felt a little depressed that she only had one missed message. She really needed to get out more.
Claire joined Geillis back in the kitchen and hopped up on the counter.
“So, what’s this distillery thing again?” She swung her crossed ankles back and forth in the air, trying for any conversation that would distract her from thinking about Frank.
“Tis a company called ‘Fraser & Co.’, a family business I think. Anyways, my friends Rupert and Angus ken the owners and asked if I wanted to tag along,” she smiled, waving the spatula in the air as she talked. “There’ll be free whisky all night long, a good reason to get sloshed eh?”
“Right. Sloshed,” Claire sighed. She hoped with time that she would regain some feeling, some sense of humanness but currently all emotion had simply been drained out of her.
“It is okay for ye to try and have fun tonight, Claire.” Geillis flipped the last pancake and then turned to face her. “I ken it’s been no even twenty-four hours and ye’ve every right to be heartbroken, but sometimes a girl just needs a few stiff drinks and one night to pretend she hasna been hurt.”
Geillis was right. Again. What Claire didn’t need to do was wallow in self pity, that would only get her nowhere. And besides, she didn’t exactly want to keep crying over Frank fucking Randall — he didn’t deserve her tears.
“I’ll try my best,” she offered a warm smile and satisfied with her answer, Geillis turned back to the pancakes.
“Good. I’ll be by yer side the entire night and if ye ever want to ditch, just let me know,” the red haired woman drizzled warm syrup over the fluffy pancakes and just as she passed the plate into Claire’s hands, her stomach growled.
“Christ, I’m starving!” She laughed, took the fork offered to her and dove in. “Haven’t eaten since lunch yesterday, I’ve no idea what got in the way of dinner last night,” she said sarcastically.
Kicking her in the shin lightly, Geillis laughed. “Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp isna lost to the world after all.”
It took Claire a bit longer than she expected to find something to wear tonight and no surprise there since all of her stuff had been quickly packed into boxes. In reality, she didn’t own a lot of clothes or personal items.
Perhaps it was because when her parents died, she had moved around a lot with Lamb. He was an archaeologist and so every few months, they traveled to a different country which meant hoarding things like band t-shirts, books and any other normal teenage girl items were out of the question.
Once on her way home from work, Claire had passed by a store with a lovely display of vases and almost purchased one. She wasn’t exactly sure why she didn’t buy it — after all, she had a home with Frank and a table or mantle to place it on. She had stability.
Had.
Muttering things to herself like, “foolish woman, should have noticed,” Claire took her time getting ready. Opting for simple black fitted jeans and a cozy sweater, her next task was to tame her curls.
Growing up, she hated having curly hair and had always wished for straight hair like her mother. But Julia Beauchamp had insisted that Claire learn to love her curls and also how to properly take care of them.
Proper care was thrown out the window when she traveled around with Lamb and since then, she hadn’t taken up putting in the effort again. It wasn’t that her hair was unkempt, but it often resembled a bird’s nest… an inviting one nonetheless.
Forcing herself to wear a little bit of foundation and mascara, Claire put the brush down and looked at herself in the mirror.
“Not bad, Beauchamp.”
When she walked out to where Geillis was waiting, she stopped and stared at her friend. She was wearing a short black dress with a deep v-cut and thigh high boots. It was January… in Scotland.
“What? Too slutty ye think?” Geillis followed Claire’s gaze and looked down at herself.
“No, no not at all,” Claire whistled, her eyes wide and then laughed. “You look great actually, but now I feel rather frumpy.”
Giving her a once over, Geillis screwed up her face, “Aye, ye do, but ye have an excuse. It’s no like yer goin’ to be keen on talkin’ to any men. So this way they’ll be sure to stay away!”
“Geillis!” Claire gasped, feigning shock and hit her playfully on the arm. “Okay, now you look like a slut.”
“Grandma,” Geillis retorted and then grabbed her car keys.
++++++
The grand opening party for Fraser & Co. was being held at the owner’s estate according to Geillis’ friend Rupert. The two women had picked up their two companions, also Scots of course and made the short journey to Lallybroch. From the little Claire knew of Gaelic, the word ‘Lallybroch’ meant something like ‘lazy tower’ and she very was interested to see if such a tower existed.
“So, Claire,” Angus leaned forward from the backseat, his face a bit too close to Claire’s to be completely comfortable, “How long have ye known our lass, Geillis?”
Avoiding unnecessary contact, Claire leaned forward so that her back was at an awkward angle and turned her head towards Angus. “Almost three years, feels like ages though.”
“How come we’ve ne’vr met ye then?”
“Claire doesna get out much, ye ken,” Geillis chimed in. “She’s a big boss lady and doesna have time to hang out wi’ the lower class.”
Claire nudged her friend in the side, rolling her eyes. “You know that’s not true. It was Frank who insisted on spending all of my free time with him.”
“Who’s Frank?” Rupert, the burlier of the two men asked.
“No one important anymore,” Claire said and put an end quickly to that rabbit hole.
A short time later, they arrived at their destination. It wasn’t very late in the day, 7pm to be exact, but the sun had set a long time ago and so the only lights on the estate were hundreds of twinkling fairy lights hung all around. The home looked absolutely magical and Claire decided that this is what all typical Scottish fairytale homes looked like.
They had arrived a bit later than expected due to getting lost in the dark and therefore had missed the opening speech from the owners welcoming them to the launch. The four of them quickly found the open bar, however, and Claire was now onto her second whisky of the night.
Rupert had just told a joke that had made the entire crowd around them laugh in hysterics, but not Claire. While she enjoyed the company, her heart wasn’t in it to be surrounded by so many people.
“I’m just going to take a walk around, I’ll be fine,” She said to Geillis, giving her a cheerful smile as she slowly wormed her way out of the crowd.
As she stepped out of the house to get some fresh air and enjoy the pretty lights, Claire was thankful she had worn a comfy sweater instead of trying to give off the impression that she wasn’t absolutely freezing. Even with her hands tucked under the material of her sleeves, however, she still shivered.
“Yer shaking so hard, yer makin’ my teeth rattle just at the sight of ye.”
Jumping a little at the unexpected company, Claire looked over to her right and saw a very tall, broad, red haired man leaning against the wall.
“Do ye want a plaid or maybe a coat?” He asked her kindly and then approached her. She knew the man was waiting for an answer to his question, but when he came closer and she looked into his blue eyes, she forgot any language that made sense.
The man gave her an odd look and then reached out, waving his hand in front of her face and finally she shook her head, and her speech was restored.
“No, thank you. I’ll be just fine,” she smiled and then turned to head back inside the house. Claire had come outside to get away from people, and this man who made her incapable of coherent thought was getting in the way of that.
“Ye dinna seem like ye want to be around people,” He said just as her foot hit the first step.
“Your point is?” She gazed over at him, noticing the subtle quirk of his mouth, and the deep auburn shine to his curly hair.
“I ken of a place wi’ a few less people is all,” he smiled and before she could tell herself no and to go find Geillis and ask to go home, Claire retraced her steps and came to stand in front of the man once again.
“Show me, then.”
Observing that she had come outside for to find quiet, the man didn’t speak as he lead them around the estate and to a large stable. Only when he disappeared inside an office looking room and returned with a plaid, did Claire speak.
“Thank you,” she smiled, accepting his kind gesture to keep her warm.
“Dinna fash. Canna have ye freezin’ to death!” He laughed — a deep laugh that made Claire want to tell a joke just so she could hear it again.
“So why did you bring me to the stables?” She asked and took a few steps in, looking around at the horses that were in their stalls.
“Och, I always find the company of a horse to be more favorable than people,” the man said and walked up next to her, his hands down at his sides.
“I’ve never ridden a horse before,” Claire mused out loud and came to stand in front of a stall with a beautiful black horse. “Don’t know anything about them really.”
For whatever reason, Claire felt comfortable in this stranger’s presence. Perhaps it was being around the horses, but as he stood next to her, she suddenly longed to know everything about him.
“Ye are a Sassenach,” the man chortled, “That doesna exactly surprise me.”
Claire looked up at him and was once again struck by the blueness of his eyes. “A Sassenach?” She pronounced the word slowly, trying to mimic his accent.
His eyebrows shot up and an amused look crossed his face, “I only mean English, tis another term for ye… an outlander.”
“Hmmm, I hope it’s used affectionately,” she snorted a bit and then covered her mouth with her hand. Only did she snort when she felt totally relaxed and right now she blamed the alcohol.
The man only laughed and then suddenly disappeared back into the office. Claire mentally shrugged and wrapped the plaid tighter around her body, returning her attention back to the horse in front of her.
“Would ye like a dram?” The man said from behind her and she turned to see him holding two glasses of whisky.
“What do you own the place or something?” She laughed, remarking at his ability to produce items from seemingly out of nowhere but took the glass he offered her.
The scot stiffened beside her, his left hand tapping twitchy fingers along his thigh. “Och, I ken the owner a wee bit.”
“I see. And he has no problem with you showing random strangers his stable and drinking his hidden whisky?”
The man grinned over his glass, “None at all.”
Claire wondered exactly who he was, but decided not to push further. She took a sip, letting it burn her throat and then took a seat on the bench near the entrance. The man awkwardly stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do but ultimately took a seat beside her.
“What do ye think of the whisky?”
He was sitting very close to her and she could smell his aftershave — minty with a hint of spice that lingered in her nostrils. The man also radiated heat and she no longer felt the need of the plaid, letting it fall off one shoulder.
“It’s very good,” she smiled and remembering the glass in her hand took another sip.
“I’ll be sure to let the owner know that a beautiful Sassenach who’s never ridden a horse in her life enjoys his whisky,” the man said with a cheeky grin and Claire had the sudden urge to poke him in the stomach. So she did.
“Och! What was that for?” He laughed, rubbing at the spot she had poked him.
“Sorry,” she bit her bottom lip to keep from laughing but ultimately burst into a fit of giggles, one so strong that tears filled her eyes.
“Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ,” she sighed as her laugh began to wind down. The man stared at her, clearly amused, but also maybe a bit frightened at this hysterical woman he had engaged in polite conversation with.
“Are ye alright, Sassenach?” He asked and she thought that he genuinely cared to know the answer.
The simple answer was yes, she was just a bit tipsy, but the real answer was far more complicated.
“I’m not really sure,” she said truthfully, earning her a distinctly Scottish noise from beside her.
“I didna expect such an honest answer,” the man grinned, his eyes full of sympathy.
“I’m not usually one to pour my heart out to a complete stranger,” Claire took another sip of whisky. “But you make me comfortable strange whisky man.”
“Strange whisky man? Yeesh,” the man chuckled and then offered his hand out to her. “Jamie, madam. Pleasure to meet ye.”
It took her a moment to move her own hand into his, but when her skin made contact with his, a bolt of electricity shot up her arm and she dropped the nearly empty glass onto the ground, making them both jump. Glass shattered at their feet, and Claire cursed herself for being so clumsy.
“Dinna move, Sassenach. I dinna want yer wee feet getting hurt,” Jamie stood and carefully avoided the glass. He went into the small office and came back with a small broom and dustpan. That room really did have a bit of everything.
“I’m so sorry,” Claire said. “I’ll buy the owner another glass. Christ, Beauchamp!”
“Dinna fash, Sassenach. Tis alright, I ken he willna mind, besides ’twas an accident,” he brushed up the remaining bits of glass and dumped it in a waste bin. With a final check to the area, Jamie offered both his hands to Claire and she took them, once again feeling that same buzz on her skin.
“Thank you,” she said quietly.
“For what?” Jamie hadn’t let go of her hands and she was fine if he never did.
“For cleaning up my mess.”
“I think I’d do anythin’ for ye, Sassenach.”
The air between them was so charged, so electric that Claire was sure if a match was struck, they’d both burst into flames on the spot.
Jamie’s hand moved from hers and slipped around her waist, holding her close to his body and she felt the heat of him against her skin. There was nothing else that mattered in this moment other than the thought of what his lips would taste like on hers.
She didn’t have to wait long to find out.
“Sassenach,” Jamie whispered and she stood on her toes and paused, her lips a breath away from his.
“Kiss me.” And he did.
“Do I look okay?” Tori asked worriedly.
“Of course you do.” Chan reassured her. “It’s not fancy. It’s literally just my vlive.”
“But I don’t want to embarrass you.” She said earnestly.
He snorted and patted her head. “You’re cute.”
He told her to stay out of frame while he introduced the live, and then gestured for her to roll in on her chair.
“Annyeong!” She popped into frame.
“Tori, here, is going to join us today, because it get’s boring when it’s just me.” Chan explained.
“And I’m so much fun!” She cheered, leaning close to the camera. “How is everyone doing today?”
She read the comments for a moment. “Good? I’ve had a great day. And now Chan said I could be in his live stream...so I’m even happier!”
“Why don’t we let Tori pick the first song?” Chan suggested. “Since she’s our special guest.”
After the comments sounded off in agreement, Tori clapped and pulled herself up to Chan’s computer.
“What song should I pick?” She mused playfully.
“Gee, I wonder what you’re going to pick.” Chan said sarcastically, turning to the camera. “Whenever we let Tori pick the song, she always picks-”
“Bubble pop!” The music started loudly from the speaker.
“Yup, there it is.” Chan rolled his eyes.
Tori ignored him. “Dance with me! Ooh boy!” She sang along happily
He shook his head, but obediently danced along with her. The amount of Hyuna music he’d listened to since becoming friends with Tori was insane, but at least it was catchy.
When the song ended, Tori cheered and turned back to the comments. “Did you guys like that song?”
Viewers confirmed that they liked the song, which effectively put Tori in a good mood for the next week.
“Okay, okay. My song now.” Chan stated. “And then we’ll start taking viewer suggestions. This song that I’m going to play is my favourite song right now, and I hope you all like it too.”
“What song is it?” Tori spun around in her chair.
“Best song ever.” Chan answered. “Playing in 3...2...1.”
Tori gave Chan an exasperated expression as Wow Thing started playing.
“Yah, turn it off.” She whined.
‘Why?” He protested, looking at the camera. “This is baby-Tori’s first song without Stray Kids! Didn’t she do so good.”
“Leave me alone.” She tried to hide her face in her knees.
Chan pulled her towards him, dragging the rolling chair. He grabbed her hands and started forcing her to dance. “This is my favourite song!”
Tori peeked at the comments. “Hey! Why are all of you supporting him? He’s bullying me.”
“I looooovvvvveeee you!” He sang.
The comments were immediatly flooded with comments of ‘aw cute’ or ‘baby Tori’ and equally embarrassing things.
Tori shook her head and figured she might as well change the subject. “What song do you want to hear next?”
The comments filled with suggestions, but one in particular caught Tori’s eye. She quickly started typing it out on Chan’s computer.
“Your song isn’t over yet!” He complained.
“I don’t care. Do you know this one?” She hit play.
“Sweet Caroline...bababa!” They shouted together.
“I haven’t heard this song in forever!” Chan laughed.
Tori started spinning in her chair again. “This is the best song ever.”
“Agree to disagree.” Chan smiled. “But it is a good song. I’ll find another one.”
By the end of their first vlive together, Chan and Tori had treated Stays to a duet of A Whole New World, Tori’s rap debut as Nicki Minaj, and some Fall Out Boy just for good measure.
“We should do one more song.” Chan suggested. “To have a big finish.”
“Grand finale?” Tori snapped her fingers. “I have the perfect song.”
She pulled up the song and hit play.
“I love myself! Dalla Dalla, yeah!” Tori did a seated version of the dance that she’d spent a good portion of the day before learning.
Chan sang along, and they let the song play all the way through before they said their goodbyes.
“Please support the new group at our company!” Tori cheered. “They work really hard!”
“Alright, we need to go now, guys, but thank you to Tori for being here with us today!” Chan did a dramatic gesture.
Tori did a dramatic bow. “Why thank you for having me. I had a lot of fun! Next time I’m back I promise I’ll make Chan listen to more girl groups.”
“Yah, I listen to lots of girl groups.” He protested.
“Yeah, but you need a girl’s input.” She teased. “Anyways, thank you all for hanging out with us.”
“Goodbye!” Chan went to turn off the camera.
Tori kept waving until the screen went dark, heaving a sigh of relief when it was over.
Chan smacked her still raised hands in a double high-five. “Good job, Tor! That was fun.”
“I did okay?” She asked, just to reassure herself.
“You did perfect.” He poked her nose. “Help me clean up, and I’ll get you that milkshake I promised you.”
“Yes!” She grinned. “I should hang out with you more often.”
“Yes, yes. We know I spoil you. Just don’t tell the others. I didn’t get them any treats for being on my vlive.”
“Because I’m your favourite?” She asked cheekily.
Chan rolled his eyes. “Because if I’m not supervising you, you’re causing trouble.”
Tori faked a gasp. “Trouble? Me? Never.”
“Whatever.” Chan shook his head. “Grab your stuff, we’re going out.”
“Woohoo!” She hugged him from behind. “You know Chan, you’re my favourite.”
He shook her off. “I’m about to ground you if you don’t help clean up.”
