blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) moon was designed in a lab to appeal to me personally, so. it's about the trust issues!

scrunkly (my "baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) the sky copper clutch!! traumatized children imprinting on a guy with baby fever is usually what i go to fanfic for so to have it right there in canon? incredible. i love all of frost's little tantrums and idk, just the way that she claims moon as her family in a way that has nothing to do with court politics? she's like, we're your clutch, obviously. and this is our court because it's your court, and all the other jabronis who live here are on thin ice. she's ready to throw down with moon's wife/the government at all hours of the day and she's like six years old. i love that moon has that energy in his life even though he personally is pretty confused and exhausted by it lol.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) it's hard out here for an ember stan because he is in so few scenes relative to the space he occupies in my psyche! i need 5000% more interactions between him and moon. him and stone. him and shade. him and river. him and the teachers. him and the clutches. him and jade and balm and chime. oh my god him and malachite? him and celadon? him and delin??

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) niran. i'm always up for a "longsuffering ship captain resigns himself to another restless night of hearing gigantic shapeshifters with incredible stamina fuck nasty on the roof of his cabin" moment. technically i have never been in that exact situation, but i feel like i can relate.

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason) stone. every time he crankily says "why did i ever reproduce" upon finding himself entangled in yet another ridiculous clusterfuck thanks to one of his hundreds of idiot great-great-great-great-great grandchildren, an angel gets its wings. he's depressed and antisocial but he can't totally check out because he has to mediate relationship issues between his dumbass relatives. love that for him.

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell) malachite but specifically because malachite would not be scared of superhell. she'd skulk around being invisible, maybe fuck some shit up if she felt like it, and leave when she got bored. she probably makes it like. opal night's sister city or something. and nobody in the court is at all phased. yeah that's our reigning queen who recently got back from vacation in superhell. she does that. she says it's relaxing.

Grace Chasity has spent her entire life doing as she's told. She speaks when prompted and listens when not, she follows every rule and meets every deadline, she reads her bible and recites her prayers and she is as good as she can possibly be. It's okay that she doesn't have any friends outside of church, because God is enough. God has always been enough. Good girls don't want anything or anyone more than God watching over them, always by their side, and Grace has always tried her best to be good. It has never hurt like this. Alternatively: Grace watches from the sidelines as the others grow close and she keeps herself at arm's length. This has no detrimental impact on her psyche whatsoever.

Is there any media that's left a lasting impact on you?

So I’m going to give two answers, one the obvious, and another bonus answer for variety’s sake :3

Pmd explorers has possibly had the greatest lasting impact on me that any piece of media ever has. As my introduction to pokemon, I felt like I was playing partly as Hero would’ve experienced it—with absolutely no idea what to expect, and no background knowledge of anything. But the way it quickly changed from “heehee creature adventure :3” to “what does it truly mean to live and how can you shine as brightly as you can, even in the face of oblivion?” caught me quite off guard. It really made me start to think about how I could try to make the most of my life, how people’s actions can be hugely shaped by their situations, and how you really can’t take even the most simple of things for granted. I played this at 12 y/o during an otherwise very disruptive/isolated time in my life, so I’m not sure if that’s partly why my brain latched onto this as much as it did, but I genuinely felt like it helped me get through it. Whenever I felt weak or powerless back then, I found inspiration from how strong hero, partner, and grovyle had to be to get through everything, and it felt like it made coping just a bit easier. Fast forward to a much better time in my life, and it’s helped me find a wonderful, incredibly talented online community and friends, and I have an absolute blast being able to interact with you guys and see your takes on the series!

The other piece of media that had a lasting impact was Allie Brosh’s book Hyperbole and a Half. I hadn’t known before reading it, but she actually had a blog of the same name around the early 2010s, where she’d post her funny comics and stories. The part that had the most impact on me was actually her iconic ‘poorly drawn’ MS paint kind of style. It made me realize that you don’t necessarily have to make professional quality art to make something worth seeing. This inspired me not only to start posting my own doodles and stuff online, but also changed my approach when dealing with a lot of daunting things. Whenever I feel like I’m not good enough/skilled enough to try something, I remember how popular her stuff was, despite looking ‘low quality,’ and it reminds me that doing something low quality is better than not doing it at all!

Doing a Wyll Origin Run and this dialogue in particular is so FUNNY to me. It’s a Human Dialogue Option but it happening between Gale and Wyll feels canon.

Gale trying to argue they should try to turn Raphael’s deal in their favor and playing the Human card, and Wyll, one of two embodiments in the party of why you shouldn’t trust devils, shutting him down immediately.

[Dialogue Written in case it’s hard to see + id reasons:

Wyll: I’ll remind you that when dealing with a devil, you always draw the short straw.

Gale: There’s no such thing as absolute certainty.

Gale: Let me play the devil’s advocate: the man is too eager. Do not dismiss his offer out of hand.

Gale: If there’s one such quality all the denizens in the Hells embody, it’s ambition. A quality they share with many humans, come to think of it…

Wyll: Speak for yourself, Gale.

I’ve been having some thoughts around the concept (in the series at least) where the argument is about vampires, their emotional highs, lows and ability to regulate and control impulses.

As in, how much does this fluctuate without regulation that they can grow and be capable of doing to control or learn from versus how much of this is innate to the age of their turning, as well as their years as an immortal.

What sprung to mind was Claudia is stated to be the youngest (for she is) and will not ever be capable of regulating, maturing, for the age she was made she will always be impulsive, retreating to the age she was made and so on.

What next came to mind is how Armand may show the least obvious versions of impulse but his time as a vampire has taught him a pattern to continue to be passive but controlling using his gift in other ways.*

*I’m not as knowledgable of Armand from the books. I know details here and there.

Louis has been the vampire I have yet to really figure out if his aging and time alters his impulsions and regulations, the ability to control and manage impulses (or vice versa go into those impulses often without control), but his tend to be with an even pattern. He holds back until something affects him strongly then when he goes off his impulses can be scattered around from small incidences that can build into larger ones.

Lestat is the see-saw of this so I’ve been curious on everyone’s thoughts here so thank you again.

While he is the one more prone and often with impulse and control wavers, he remains quite consistent to how often he’s using it in his existence.*

*That we know and understand of him so far.

He can control and regulate but he has passion towards impulse and instinct. Without regulation or thought so as he ages he does and doesn’t seem to differ that much, but he continues to me the most public, out there and noticeable one.

Louis while less in the spotlight, his impulse control seems to fluctuate the older he gets, where he goes through episodes of total control and then times of little to no regard for the regulation. He lives off animals but then he embraces being a vampire when closest to those he cares for and or when he’s emotionally compromised.

Armand seems to be second to least in line and I agree with y’all, but I was wondering in comparison to the fact that he schemes and everything he does is pretty internalized and less external if you would ever compare (series) Armand to a level of Lestat or Louis, where the internal impulse control and mind control is and isn’t consistent until something falters.

Then be doesn’t want control or anything to do with it.

As for Claudia I have to admit that the poll was made to explore her and whether she did defy the law and concern as she aged in her immortal years, in series at least. Where maturity and with that maturity came with less impulsion and more control as it would come with an older made vampire or if she was still just as she was in terms of kills but maybe emotionally and mentally matured.
