Ally: Yeah I grab a pool skimmer-- (starts laughing at themself)
(audience laughs)
Ally: --and I start trying to get that out of the well.
Brennan: Sorry, stop, real quick -- when you 'grab a pool skimmer'...
Zac: The quangle appears!
Ally: Yeah! The quangle appears, and the peppermint BURSTS open and there's a pool casita.
(cast and audience laugh)
Ally: And I run to it--
Siobhan: Adaine runs out of the time quangle with a bowl of shrimp-- (laughs)
(audience cheers and applauds; shots of a few people in the audience holding up cardboard cutouts of oversized shrimp)
(Ally is losing it)
Siobhan: --out of whatever the pool thing is and goes, "it seems like you need this. I got a vision." and then runs back through.
Zac: "Fabian's gonna be mad!"
Brennan: ...you have a pool skimmer.

this has been a roller coaster of a design journey but finally I can present you: class swap artificer!adaine and rogue!fabian
#dimension 20#fantasy high#fhfy#fhsy#fhjy#fabian seacaster#adaine abernant#fh class quangle#goodbye... goodbye hoodie kid adaine..... we have mecha pilot/power armor adaine instead#I couldnt really land how she'd get a hoodie reliably in freshman year given the abernants pattern of confiscating shit from her#so I kinda switched gear and dug a bit into a like sukeban aesthetics instead. and since shes with the AV club I like the idea of#like a radio coord thing for her. hence the suspenders#I fully admit the sukeban thing is influenced by the hacker woman in ghostwire tokyo who I have a small crush on#she's SO cool. too bad about a number of things with that game#the jacket of useful things is a racer jacket this time bc Im predictable like that#her ensemble in junior year is her tank top + overall it might not be clear enough in the pic...#just had the thought ''man I should do turnarounds for all of them'' and immediately had to slap myself out of it#anyways uh! fabian I have inflicted with my favourite thing to do to characters who like to stealth or fly under the radar#which is Bright Extremely Noticeable Jacket That Hides Your Hands#fabian's ghost motif has led me to the famous horror movie trope of silhouette with iconic jacket from afar#(see Sinister and Alice Sweet Alice)#and I love to imagine him hanging the coat up somewhere and opponents aiming there instead of at him#but also the raincoat is specifically modeled after the yellow fisherman's raincoat#and. that led to. me thinking abt fabian pulling riz up at that cliff with a net instead of the battle sheet lmao#so his junior year design is fully Fishing. which is so fucking funny it has obliterated all other possibilities from my brain#ranger flavour: captain ahab#I still debate making him carry around an actual fishing rod tbh. right now Im giving him a rifle grappling hook thing#gods. I just think High School Classmate Suddenly Gets Way Too Into Fishing is the funniest fucking thing that can happen#thank you fabian. thank you for giving me this. love you buddy#still blanking on kristen but! throughout this whole storm here I've realised I just need to fuck around

Fantasy High: Kill Count!
With all the talks about counting kills in Never Stop Blowing Up and a conveniently timed want to rewatch Fantasy High from the beginning, I decided to go ahead and make a spreadsheet compiling all the kills The Bad Kids get over the entirety of the show! !!Spoilers Below the Cut!!
Before I share the link there are a couple of things I want to be clear about my method of counting. -I only counted kills toward whoever got the final blow on whatever enemy -Construct, conjuration, and summoned creature's kills count toward whoever created them (This does not include The Hangman, he is a sentient creature therefore his kills are his own.) -I consider downing/banishing an enemy to be different than killing them so they don't go toward the character's count, although some of them are listed in the spreadsheet -The kills in italics are enemies that are just downed by the character and that is made clear in my notes section for those kills -Thank you to the people who contribute to the D20 Wiki and who contribute to the episode transcripts, your work was lifesaving when I needed to doublecheck things With that said if you're curious about the entire breakdown you can find the link for the spreadsheet here! And here are the total counts: Fig Faeth - 39 Gorgug Thistlespring - 28 Adaine Abernant - 15 Fabian Aramais Seacaster - 26 Kristen Applebees - 21 Riz Gukgak - 25
if I missed any kills, or if you think a death should've been counted in a different way feel free to let me know! Also once the Time Quangle Live Shows come out, if there are any kills in those from The Bad Kids I will update the spreadsheet (and this post) accordingly.

Last Stand Musing
Spoilers FHJY, as of Episode 15 So, I was thinking about the last stand mechanically. I wasn't trying to but I can't help but think 'that's it?' Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it is, especially with the revelation there will be *no* reviving thanks to Kipperlilly. But I can't help but think that, for a *final battle where everyone is meant to die* the bad kids kinda got off easy. First of all, it was strongly implied that they had to fight off endless waves of monsters, and the only way they could be the ones to *beat* the last stand, was to keep killing until there were no monsters left to spawn, I believe it's an artifice augefort that implies this with a wink. But in the actual fight a new wave was incoming, they were *gonna* have to fight more, but the proctor called it off, because they aced the questions. I *understand* the only reason they aced the monsters was because of this exact crew, tactics chosen, and luck. Fabian blowing over half his resorces to kill a Hyrda *before it can act* was clutch, that shuffle cast was clutch, Gorgug time quangling out all the crits he hadn't been getting in the previous seasons was clutch, ect. But learning that, if you answer all the questions the test *stops spawning*, I can't help but wonder how no one, in the history of Augefort, has managed to clear it before now. Then I thought more about it. About how, part of Arther's point, is that students *Accept* the last stand nature of it, not rebel, taing the premise that they must die on the chin and giving it the best fight they can. Does this imply the other students who have previously taken this test just... ignored the test questions? Maybe only half-assed them, with the goal of going out in a big blaze of glory? Seems a bit unlikely, but maybe so. The bad kids are *powerful* but are also Juniors, surely more *Seniors* take this test than not, would not the seniors on average be of similar or even higher power? Why would this all happen, so that they are the *first?* Then I thought about it even more. This is for people who have no other choice, the *desperate*. The flops, the failures, those who are not succeeding by other means. That's when the cruelty of it all really kicked in, and Augefort's words felt even more hostile. This isn't a challenge where the cream of the crop do thier best and top the charts, this is for the *lowest of the low* to try and do thier best, to salvage a win from nothing. So hard, so cruel, and on top of it all Arther regards those who tried it and failed to just not have 'gotten what he was going for.' What a fuckin' asshole. The deck was stacked in the bad kid's favor as *exceptionally* powerful kids, who are failing as a result of shenanigans, not poor performance. This, the hardest exam and the deadliest the school offers, is only thrust at those who are already behind, what a joke.

hi!! (Crown of Candy spoilers in ask)
1. Your art is so cool :000
2. If ACOC had gone differently, who's death would've hit the hardest had there been two deaths that weren't Lapin or Jet?
hello!! thank you so so much!!
this is so fun.... i think ruby dying would've been deeply fucked up for jet but i also think jet would've handled it slightly better than ruby handled jet's death. but im also saying this because a world where siobhan came back as her revenant rococoa back-up would've been CRAZY. like i've theorised about this on twitter before but there's no way she'd tell amethar it was her until she absolutely had to; he's already lost her once he can't lose her again and she's a ghost of her former self. she's not rococoa anymore, not really.
ALSO im imagining ruby dies in place of jet, but i've also rotated a scenario in my head where ruby dies and siobhan comes back as rococoa before calroy's betrayal is revealed..... im imagininga juicy scenario about how she would immediately go to kill calroy, but amethar defends him, his sister's murderer, to his sister, without realising. oh it's so fucked up and fun to me
i also think liam should've died in the cathedral SORRY WHO SAID THAT and this IS because it'd be tragic to have lost the oldest and the youngest in that fight but also because ally playing amanda maillard would've been so fucking incredible. like to have someone else on caramelinda's side at the end there..... oh it would've been so juicy. caramelinda is my favourite character in almost all of d20 i literally would've given anything to see her softer side with amanda. oh my god i need that time quangle episode out NOWWWWWW
i dont think amethar should die ever.... and you'd think i'm being nice for once but in reality i love the twisted double meaning of "the unfallen" title. if the finale had been a PvP at the end, amethar is the last one standing for sure. a world where he's the only one left amongst his loved ones would be so unbelievably fucked up. amethar wants to die; he wanted to in the cathedral; he thinks death is atonement for his mistakes. and i don't think we should let him!!! sorry for loving pain and misery

Was looking at some art and just had a thought after seeing a freshman year piece (linked below): The Rat Grinders were originally The High 5 Heros right? That changed to Rat Grinders after Lucy died. The 5 stood out to me, so I went to the wiki to double check and... yeah. Their original name had 5, not five spelled out. It sounds like a cute little name for a new adventuring party, but the thing is... there were 6 party members: Kipperlily, Ruben, Mary Ann, Oisin, Ivy, and Lucy. That made my mind go to theorizing.
What if someone wasn't always a part of their group (either literally or figuratively)?
If it was figurative, we got a situation where it's 5 party members and the extra one that was required by school rules (and that name never changed until after one of them died which is even more sad).
If it's literal, there were originally 5 party members, they chose their name based on being a 5 party member party, and somehow they eventually got a 6th member. It's not unreasonable to assume with the kidnappings and life stuff and five billion other factors that the freshman class wouldn't always be perfectly divisible by 6. That would leave one party short the first day (or with an extra person or two). There's a lot of ways to get a group of 5 to 6 if you really think about it (some of which might have been easier with Kalvaxus being in charge and/or Arthur Aguefort dead).
1. The party did part or all of freshman year as an odd group and a 6th is brought in later. In the meantime, they might have partnered with another group or got a hireling for party activities that required 6 students.
2. The school brought in a transfer or offered a spot to the best candidate/s that was still interested
3. Someone slipped in after the party formed using magic, devil's honey, or some other means/mechanic (it wouldn't even need to be at the start of the year)
4. There is an inconsistency due to the time quangle (and someone is exploiting that)
What could it mean? Who knows!? But my goodness isn't it interesting to think about?
PS: Thank you to @idonthaveanyurlideas for being the catalyst to my mad mad ravings tonight ^_^

Ok what the fuck. What an incredible episode, this season is just so stressful but so good lmao. I feel like the real winners after this episode are those who believe in the time quangle theories. We just got a cause, a dead timeline that unmade a goddess. Thank you Counterspell Connor

Maybe something with tardigrade song or the moss ,by Cosmo sheldrake? All his songs are pretty whimsical
Many feelings right now, post-writing, and 1) Never heard this music before this morning and now The Moss is forever embroidered into my being, 2) This got way outta hand and finally 3) THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING THIS I surely hope I captured the whimsy at least a little! Please enjoy!
“Legend has it that the moss grows on the north side of the trees,” Hattie reminded herself as she looked out at the columns of frosted stone, perched on top a giant, frozen wishing well. Or maybe just a well. It was too frozen to tell if golden wishes fell into this well. And it was too frozen to see if there was moss on the crystalline trees.
“Well, legend has it when the rain comes down, all the worms come up to breathe,” a squeaky voice of a dozing, floating raccoon bequeathed.
Hattie looked up, spotting the crown pon on the cap of the raccoon clinging to its pillow. The rift was overrun by these sleeping fellows who whispered in their dreams of fables and things.
“Well, legend has it when the sunbeams come, all the plants, they eat them with their leaves.” Hattie readied herself and leapt forward. The stone column cracked beneath her and began to sink. With a jolt of fear, she immediately jumped to the next one, flying beneath the raccoon who dropped to squash her. She wacked it with her umbrella and pilfered the pon before jumping to a cluster of cold leaves before the stone column crumbled beneath her.
The raccoon fell with the stone and Hattie panted, before catching the shine of the parchment below.
Careful, she descended the stairs of slippery leaves. Her boots scuffed the icy blue branches before she stooped down and gathered the page that was one piece of one puzzle of a forest of spirits and souls and sleepy spiders and dwellers. Swiftly, she tucked the page away and ascended the stairs and stone.
Paying pons in exchange for escaping the ice and moss-less trees, Hattie jumped into the pipe and dropped into a new level, finding shadows trapped in glass vessels.
“Well, legend has it that the world spins round on an axis of 23 degrees,” Hattie breathed. She examined the scene before her with confusion and barely jumped back before an inky-black octopus with waving tentacles emitted a ring of combustion.
“But have you heard the story of the rabbit in the moon?” A smaller shadow asked in a raspy voice as she incapacitated the octopuses and raccoons. “Or the cow that hopped the planets while straddling a spoon?”
Hattie shoved the crown pons into her pocket as the other smaller shadow chimed in, its form looking like a carnivorous plant in one moment before wavering into the form of a dragon with a pointed beak just as its twin.
“Or she, who leapt up mountains while whistling up a tune and swapped her songs with swallows while riding on a broom?” The dragon bloom cooed.
Hattie shook her head, the movement causing her to spy a space in the wall with an opened door. She wandered over to find wooden planks leading down into the center of the structure perched in a murky moor. She jumped down and came to a dark room sparse save for a handful of shelves stacked with books. Another parchment puzzle piece shone but its shine was swallowed by the surrounding shadowy nook. She swiped the storybook page and retreated from the dark, jumping up the steps with calculated arcs.
Before she could reach the final pipe opening with hissing smoke, the middle shadow shaped like a sea serpent with spiraling tail and spiked shadows and short snout spoke.
“Well, we can all learn things, both many and a-few from that old hunched-up woman who lived inside a shoe,” the shadow whispered with a scarlet star blinking where its eyes usually sat black as tar.
Hattie paused, waiting for further explanation but the serpent seemed as petrified as a mask, the shadows shifting behind the curved glass. She dove through the final pipe and came to a raft, adrift in a sea of murky mist with distant trees shivering as if caught in a draft.
Focusing on her task to reclaim her time pieces, she cracked open the violet rift and it shattered along creases with collective whispers of the subconscious forest, asking if she could learn something from the puzzle pieces. Or…
Or the girl that sang by day and by night she ate tear soup,
Or the man who drank too much and he got the brewers’ droop?
The whispers begged her to understand, but the hatted child grabbed her hourglass and disappeared before knowledge could land.
Hattie returned to the forest and gingerly tucked the time piece away. Curious, she took out the pages of the storybook crafted by memories in the rift and went about her day.
Following the cobblestone path, she scanned the title page with a claw mark through a broken heart. A gaggle of subconites trotted over to her, following and asking if she wanted to join them in their game of sharing stories and art. One lifted his mitten hand to his chest, his light glowing as he pressed.
“Come listen, all ye fair maids, to how the moral goes,” he declared dramatically as Hattie mostly ignored him to scan the next page of a prince and a princess holding hands with hearts round their golden crowns, looking proper and prim.
“Nobody knew and nobody knows,” another subconite chimed in while the next chapter showed the princess in her crown meet the children in town covered with masks and hoods standing in rows.
Hattie glanced towards the hooded figures around her, dread welling up as they casually continued their recounting of characters.
“How the Pobble was robbed of his twice five toes, or how the Dong came to own a luminous nose,” the first subconite said while they walked. Meanwhile, the princess saw her prince’s palm clasped with a maiden of strawberry-rose locks.
“Or how the Jumblies went to sea in a sieve that they rowed,” a quiet third subconite sounded like they were smiling as Hattie stared, wide-eyed at the page of the princess’ heart shattering and her tears freezing, all framed by her golden hair.
“And came to shore by the Chankly Bore where the Bong-trees grow.” The girl with the rose-colored braid held up her hand, revealing a coin that might have once fell into a well made for wishing while the prince turned to see his princess fleeing.
“Where the Jabberwocky’s small green tentacles do flow, and the Quangle Wangle plays in the rain and the snow,” a noose dripping blue called from above in a haunting tone, causing the subconites to scatter with child-like screams and leaving Hattie alone.
Hattie stopped walking, steps faltering. Shadow tentacles rose around the green-garbed princess in droves while the prince tried to reach out, desperate to dismiss the princess’ doubt.
Pondering the woods, Hattie trembled, finding the story too terrible to continue. The shadow dragon blooms, the sleeping raccoons, the subconites and the cold, endless night that clung with the clefted moon. The young pilot charted stars, not stories withstanding; how was she to make sense of this pictured misunderstanding?
As if hearing her distress, a shadow appeared with a clasped claws and Cheshire grin. He twisted around her, wondering what was causing the child such chagrin.
Pressing the storybook to her chest, concealing the tale, she appeased, “Legend has it that the moss grows on the north side of the trees.” But nothing grew in the phantom forest. Crinkling her nose, she continued her pleas, “Well, legend has it when the rain comes down, all the worms come up to breathe.”
But the shadow reminded her for breath the dead have no need.
“Well, legend has it when the sunbeams come—”
There was no need in the forest of spirits for the light of the sun.
“—all the plants, they eat them with their leaves…” Hattie trailed off in grief. In a final plea, she said, “Well, legend has it that the world spins round on an axis of 23 degrees.”
The soul Snatcher widened his smile and began to beguile her scientific theses.
“But have you heard the story of the rabbit in the moon?” He dove into the trees and puppeted shadows in a haphazard cartoon. The rabbit looked more like a man sewing cow plushies in a crescent room. “Or the cow that hopped the planets while straddling a spoon?”
Snatcher popped out of the trees and snatched Hattie’s hat, disappearing up in the leaves and forcing her to pursue with grappling hook threaded through the noose.
“Or she, who leapt up mountains, while whistling up a tune,” Snatcher continued, twirling her hat on his finger in an animated loop. “And swapped her songs with swallows while riding on a broom.” He winked, tossing her hat back and summoning her contract to remind her of her tasks.
Hattie furrowed her brows and held out the storybook with memories cruel and true.
“Well, we can all learn things, both many and a-few,” she repeated the morals whispered in the rift as she mused, “from that old hunched-up woman who lived inside a shoe.” She turned the page to reveal the final clue, “Or the girl that sang by day and by night she ate tear soup.”
The phantom froze and the girl gripped the page, both staring at the shadow depicted in his cage. Crown discarded; tears pooled in the eyes of the prince fooled into thinking love over sorrow could rule.
Hattie turned to the ending, the final picture that explained the strictures of the woman in the manor.
Petrified by the page, the phantom swallowed thickly as he added bitterly, explaining the story of jealousy’s cold coup, “Or the man who drank too much and he got the brewer’s droop.”
“Snatcher.” Hattie reached out but the ghost of the prince fled in one fell swoop.
