RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:

These Piglets are for lore clans with a tumblr presence (sideblog, FR posting on mainblogs, etc you simply have to be a lore clan who engages with the community here on tumblr.)

Other players with their siblings (and myself with their parents) will be not only welcome to but encouraged to write interclan letters/in character messages to their siblings, and you'll have to be okay with everything that comes with that (On-Site DMs, the potential of a message going unanswered/etc) I would also appreciate if you ping me for the stuff you do with them because I want to see what they get up to <3

If you win one of the siblings, please refrain from applying for another, this is so everyone interested gets an opportunity and a fair shake at taking one of the girls home!

If you're the selected winner, the dragon is yours to do what you please with! (Regene, change species, rename, change gender identities/pronoun preferences, etc) I ask only that you have a lore/character reason for breed or name changes, as they'll be connected to a wider group of dragons that would need to know these things (What kind of dragon their sibling has become, What to call them in letters, etc) and if you can keep them a modern breed so they can keep their cleavers, well that'd just be nice for their old man Pig.

Please honor the basic lore of the dragon you win, you're welcome to rewrite/reinterpret the lore they arrive with, but please don't eliminate that history entirely, since they'll be interwoven with other clans/players!

[and a big thank you to Khadjin for reminding me I never mentioned this yet!] my lore deviates pretty substantially from site lore. however every aspect can be explained within the context of the site, please don't feel like you have to adopt my headcanons to participate in these!- my "Lesser Gods" are nothing more than magically afflicted/overcharged spirits or magically mutated dragons created in a reactor explosion somewhere in Lightning and some timeloop silliness, and the 'Gaps' are highly concentrated leylines caused by this incident. the eleven gods of sornieth remain the only true gods in my lore much like the site on the whole!- the Piglets and their parents simply lived under the affliction of spirits, cults, and mutated dragons and contextualized them as "Gods" the very same way we create urban myth/legends. While they would know of The Host and the Gaps because of the direct effect both have had on their parents, they are not required to have continued to believe in them as "Higher beings" and can have learned in their time away from their family that these things are likely, little more than the arcane gone haywire.

These are just some smaller lore bits and pieces you're welcome to use or disregard for each child, things that I couldn't fit into the bios in a way that made sense. much like the example outfit photo up-top, this is for fun or stuff to help get ideas flowing, if you're stuck!

Ravager, of all her siblings, is the one who seems the most far removed from the sensibilities of her parents, a trait that is dangerous for anyone entering her orbit, as she's a Daddy's girl through and through- with Pig's proclivity for death and "an eye for an eye" alive and well within her. She is still a killer in her bones- but if anyone discovers this trait, they are swiftly and cleanly dealt with.

She is incredibly knowledgeable of the anatomy of every breed of dragon, and several breeds of Sornieth's local fauna and beastclans- a trait that she made use of as a doctor for a short time upon leaving her parents so she could more safely infiltrate the traveling bands she used for survival until she could more firmly establish herself somewhere.

she has taken the idea her siblings insisted upon that she was a bad luck charm to heart and now embraces it- she remains closest to Riot as the pair were often teased for their lack of magical talents and the 'risk' they posed to the sisters on training outings, insisting to her gentler sister that in the face of adversity their family flourishes- and the unlucky face it most often.

Prim, Neat, and Proper in everything she engages in, she defies her attachment to her father by being well-spoken and clean- her workshop where she rends the dead into useable pieces is impeccable, and the gore forever staining her claws is always carefully covered by gloves- though they are often bitten through with lye.

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.

That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.

That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.

That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.

That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.

That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.

That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.

None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.

I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.

If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.

Celebrate fan work!

To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.

Hello, I am looking to post my art on tumblr but I am nervous too, do you have any advice? also you’re art is lovely and inspiring

thank you!! posting art online can be pretty difficult, i often have a lot of anxiety about it too lol 💀 BUT there's a few things that i've found have helped me a lot! first is that you gotta let go of the hustle mindset of getting as many notes as possible and just make whatever you enjoy. full disclosure, this is something that will probably be pretty hard if you're just starting out, because it does suck to see something you worked hard on get very little engagement. so to counteract this, i suggest also sharing your art with friends or any smaller communities your in! that way even if something doesn't get much response on tumblr, you know that your friend group or people in the art channel of a smaller discord server think it's cool anyway.

second is that you should try out the queue/schedule post functions on here! if i ever feel anxious about posting my art (which is. often), i'll just schedule it to post the next day so i don't actually have to press the dreaded post button right then. truly a game changer for me

third is that most people use the tumblr tag system in some way, and you should to! if you're making fandom stuff then you can tag it with the fandoms/characters you're drawing so it can be found easier, and there's tags for original work as well like the artists on tumblr tag and the general #art tag too. good luck champ 👍👍

“I need to perform a few repairs to the Marauder’s cooling system,” he prattled as he started to walk around the living room of your house. “Not to mention the screen of the navigational computer is acting up again.”

You leaned against the doorway to your bedroom, watching your partner walking in circles as he searched.

“What are you looking for, love?”

Tech scowled at you. “My goggles,” he sighed. “It’s somewhat difficult to find them when I can barely see.”

“Darling?” your tone was gentle, but full of amusement.

“Yes, cyare?”

“Are these the goggles you’re looking for?” You asked, holding up his signature yellow lenses by the strap. “These ones, that you asked me to hold on to so that you wouldn’t lose them?”

“Okay,” you smiled. “And those repairs?”

“Tech,” you said, grabbing his arm to stop his forward motion. “Echo’s on a mission with Rex, and Wrecker took Omega on that fishing trip?”

Tech blinked at you. “Then Hunter-”

“-is enjoying some well-earned relaxation time with his riduur. They took the ship to that island Omega and Lyana found, remember?”

Tech’s face displayed a wide array of emotion, bouncing between confusion, searching his memory, followed by confusion, frustration, and more confusion.

New intro Post

New intro post! How exciting! This is my celebration for reaching 25 followers so fast! Thank you all for your overwhelming support in this journey, it really has been a lot.

If you're new here, my boyfriend and I are both introjected from extremely problematic medias revolving around a very bad person that lived in real life. We are both from fictional medias, bit the person of which we introjected is very much real, and We've gotten a LOT of shit for it.

Spaces that claim to be safe spaces for systems-- or God forbid, safe spaces for *problematic* introjects and alters, tend to be rude or spiteful towards individuals who are factives from problematic sources.

I firmly believe this hateful stance comes from a place of not understanding, so I've created this blog to give people who don't understand a chance to talk and speak to us without losing their cool as we also stay anonymous on this blog. They're always nice until they find out who you are /hj . Since it's creation, the blog has since turned into a big place for problematic factives to just feel safe and seen. I'm beyond happy about this, and glad my blog can serve both purposes. More under the cut!

We post a lot of everything!

We answer asks from people who have questions about us or about being problematic factives, we make positivity posts for problematic factives, problematic factive culture is... posts, and lots of other things you could think of. Feel free to vent in our askbox or message us for a chat! We'd love to have a friend.

Some things off the top of my head that I can't do on this blog (but if you end up making a blog for these things and need a mod, totally hmu!)

Stimboards/Moodboards etc. - I would literally love to do these but the problem is I know like nothing about anyone. Of you were to ask me for a Donald Trump moodboard I honestly do not know what I would do my mind would just blank. That being said, in decently good at making them so if there were a person I knew well enough to do a stimboard on, I definitely could

Icon edits - This is somthing I'm capable of doing, but it isn't something where I would want this entire blog to just turn into requests. If you're making a blog specifically for these creative requests things totally hmu

My last intro post didn't really have any information on us as people let's try and fix that.

I can't tell you my name, but you can call me Anxiety. I'm the main mod and significantly less source connected/more source ashamed. I go by he/Anxiety with Anxiety being able to work in place of either a name or a pronoun. Unless the host is helping out with something, anything that isn't labeled comes from me. I'm the only one out of the two of us with the physical ability to type so when he posts something, it's a little special occasion and deserves a label.

My boyfriend doesn't have a name option other than a source one. On the blog he has only been referred to as my boyfriend, but if you need a name for him, call him NPC. He uses he/him pronouns and will sign off any post that he thinks up all on his own with -NPC and tagged with # npc posts

So I say this with all the love and respect in my heart- I understand you feeling isolated or othered by people saying “men dni” on posts/blogs that you relate to, but fairly regularly complaining about it publicly from the standpoint of the man who is being asked to not interact, has a very “not all men” smell to it that makes it hard to like, empathize with the very real issues underneath this particular phenomenon. Also, in a very real moment of honesty, I think you know that you- tme bigender high femme fagdyke- are not the man in question that women don’t want to interact with. I don’t mean for this to come across aggressive or insincere, I just think it might be beneficial for you to reframe how you’ve been thinking about this issue, and it might help you feel less targeted by other queer people who are not trying to attack you.

speaking of my silence i’m very fascinated by your definition of ‘fairly regular’ since to my knowledge i’ve made 5 posts in the past 3 months that even reference this phenomenon, all of which except the ask meme response i posted yesterday are & have been unrebloggable due to my rampant fear of being accused of this very bullshit for so much as glancing in the direction of my own experiences!

To Be Clear. my issue is not with people having certain boundaries, even when i disagree with the political implications! but i have had the tags “#men dni” and “#men do not interact” and “#men don’t interact” filtered for years, and i have the text “men dni” and “men do not interact” and “men don’t interact” filtered even though tumblr’s filtering system means that also blocks posts that are specifying something like “cishet men” (or even, occasionally, “i’m a man, men dni blogs don’t rb”), unnecessarily blocking posts people would’ve been fine with / happy about me engaging with, out of an abundance of goddamn fucking caution but apparently the burden remains on me to check individual bios before liking + reblogging a post every time i think the op might potentially be expecting me to self-gatekeep out of it.

but of course as you’ve so kindly pointed out the expectation to self-gatekeep is all in my head! never mind how many people reblog my femme posts with a cool url or insightful tags whose blog when i check it out specifically says something to the effect of “trans men this means you too” after their men dni policy. but since i obviously haven’t been thorough enough in my brief sporadic generally filter-tagged vent posts, let me be perfectly clear:

while i may feel a twinge of disappointment over a femme gender meme & frustration over a butch positivity post created by blogs with ‘men dni�� policies, my core issue here is blogs that self-brand as femme/queer/dyke/whatever archivists who are expecting me to gatekeep my access to my own history. that is why i started reading full texts myself & that is why i post excerpts anyone can reblog & that is why my tumblr has been left to run her queue for days at a time while i try to resolidify myself in the arguments of four decades ago instead.

so thank you for the reminder that no amount of self-censorship is enough 💖 i’ll try harder to stop playing this rigged game 💖

hi darling!! thank you so much 🥺 my poor heart almost gave out on these compliments! yeah, it's no trouble, i can tell you how i find them!! basically i'm a professional tumblr diver but i'm gonna explain techniques in a more detailed way

technique 1. gold miners

you see a cool fun text post on your dash that has less than 5000 notes; you go in the tags and scroll to the very beginning of reblog chains; there you will find the people who somehow always find the best freshly birthed text posts; choose the people who tagged it as some variation of "#text post", "#txt" or they tagged it as "#x-character-core/coded" or even better, they tagged it as their oc - go to their blog and look through that tag, usually you will find a treasure mine of text posts; if all the posts you immediately see are well known and you saw them all over your dash already, then go back and start diving on the next person's blog through the tags and keep doing it until you are out of tagger rebloggers; when you find good text posts you gotta screenshot them (try to think ahead - maybe there is a show coming out in the near future that will fit this text post)

visual example: i always have various non-popular text posts in my queue that i will dive in later when i have the time. like these

technique 2. oc and character tags again

you find a post that perfectly fits your blorbos but it has much more than 5000 notes so it's impossible to check all the rebloggers - that's fine, once again go in the notes for blog diving; start from the top and find specifically someone who tagged this post as their oc or their favourite character - that's your new source; go through the tag and it will certainly have text posts/tweets that fit your blorbo as well

visual example: i found this post for Pete and his poor burnt balls, one day i'm gonna go through it to see other people's blorbos who have suffered in a similar way, and i'm sure there will be lots of petecore stuff on their blogs

technique 3. porn blogs are your best friend when it comes to mature tv shows

find one, just one, good funny very sexual text post and go in the tags for to see which mature bloggers reblogged it using a tagging system; it can be them categorising it as "#text post" or similar, it can be them sorting posts by kink so pay attention to tags like "#petplay" "#collars" and etc, you will be able to find lots of funny sexy posts the deeper you search through their tags

visual example: see, this post has only 1500 notes, so when i will go in the tags of it i will find approximately 10-15 people who tagged it well enough for me to scroll through their tagged reblogs and find other good stuff

technique 4. when you are done with any of techniques explained above, choose best blogs to follow

while you dive in random tumblr users' blogs you will for sure stumble upon blogs that reblog amazing rare text posts; follow them and see what other gems they can bring to your dash in the future

other tips for people who make text post memes

- THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE! make sure the text screenshot that you placed on a picture/gif is large enough to be readable both on mobile and on web. check it on every gadget. i have really bad vision and squinting my eyes at the phone makes my head hurt, so i never look at memes that i can't read right away without zooming in. make them easily readable!!

- choose one style of screenshots of the text posts. it can be web screenshots, it can be mobile browser tumblr screenshots, if can be tumblr app screenshots. choose one and stick to it always, it will make your memes look neat. i always make screenshots of text posts on the tumblr app, then i put them all on a 750 pixel wide canvas, scale them down to 360 pixel width and copy paste them to 540 pixel wide pictures of blorbos. so we get something like this:

Tw: headmates leaving mention

Hiya! Wondering if you could do a post about systems with walk-in headmates? I've seen it refered to as gateway systems before but idk how accurate and/or common that term is.

My entire system consists of people who just arrived one day, with no apparent reason or cause, and we get a lot of 'visitors' where a headmate will arrive and stay for only a week or two, and then leave again, and it feels very natural to us but no one seems to talk abt it much? Anyways if you don't know anything/can't find anything abt it that's totally cool, just figured I'd ask:)

Hi! To us it does indeed sound like y’all could be a gateway system. We’ll link the pluralpedia entry below so you can learn a little more!

Note that pluralpedia only mentions gateways as being connected to other worlds, but from what we understand, the gateway can connect a system to other universes as well, along with places like their own psyche, headspace, or subconscious mind! Many gateway systems believe in a multiverse theory, but that is not necessary in order to be or identify as a gateway system.

Hello everyone! Personal update, I would like to share a recent system I have implemented for myself for others to reference ~ That system being emoji mood Indicators ☀️ I feel it will be very beneficial for my online presence.

I‘ll add certain emojis to my bios on socials I’m most active on when it is important, mainly being: Discord, Instagram, and my art queue.

You may be thinking, is my queue really the right place for it? And yes, I think so. I am a moody individual, lol. And more often than not having a lot of work to do can affect my mood in negative ways. BUT, I’m working through it all. Because I genuinely wish to draw, adopt cool OCs, etc. even if I may be in a crappy state at times. It just takes longer for me to complete art and respond to people. Books of 2023 - September

I had thought this month would be something of a reading slog, but I didn't do too badly! Part of that is down to my ever-reliable selection of audiobooks; the rest is down to some fun rereading. I even made an effort to get a decent blend of genres as I dig into the last of my reading goals for the year.

August | October

#1 - Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro - 4/5 stars (audio)

Huh. Is this what the kids call "literary fiction"? Because I can confirm it was well-written and engaging but boy am I lost and unsure how to feel.

I want to feel sad. But that doesn't feel right.

Also I've had this author on my TBR for a long time and I do intend to check out at least one more of his books, but I have a feeling he may not be for me. However, definitely check him out if you like Piranesi or Station Eleven. This book felt a bit like those.

#2 - Urchin of the Riding Stars by M.I. McAllister - 3/5 stars

I'm a little salty about this book.

I wanted to like it. I think I can see how it might appeal to a younger audience, so I tried to take that into consideration. But y'all.

Y'all.

I am so confused.

The pacing is weird. The plot is...not really a plot if I'm honest, just characters Doing Things. Every scene felt like an emergency. Stuff kept happening but there wasn't really a story.

And it had two of my least favorite things: 1) adults who are painfully aware of a problem and perfectly capable of fixing it who whine and complain about it being impossible to fix (but a child manages it, surprise!) and 2) KILLING A LOVE INTEREST RIGHT AS SHE AND THE MALE CHARACTER ARE HAPPY JUST BECAUSE, FOR NO REASON AT ALL, AND THEN EVERYONE JUST MOVES ON. If the love interest has zero impact on the story and her DEATH also has zero impact...just remove her from the story. Thanks.

Yes, I'm taking this way too personally.

I did like the main cast of characters. They were cool.

While I will not be reading any sequels, nor will I personally recommend this to readers of any age, for the more tolerant reader I will say it fits alongside stories like The Green Ember and the Wingfeather Saga. (I've never read Redwall except for one graphic novel adaptation but I suspect it fits as well. However, the blurb in the book compared Mistmantle to Watership Down and...yeah no. Not seeing that.) As for me? No more anthropomorphic woodland creatures.

#3 - Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett - 4/5 stars ('23 TBR)

Terry Pratchett really hasn't missed for me. As ever, a solid Discworld story. I wasn't terribly attached to any of the characters (except, surprisingly, Gaspode), but the plot was delightful.

#4 - Xingu by Edith Wharton - 4/5 stars average ('23 TBR)

Look, I know this is technically a short story at best, but I needed a title beginning with X and I've never read Wharton before, but I also didn't have time for the "And Other Stories" part of the ebook. So I'm counting it.

And I am definitely going to grab one of Wharton's novels to dig into, because the prose. (Weirdly I found myself comparing it to Terry Pratchett? In the best possible way.) Such a fun little read.

#5, #6, #7 - All Systems Red, Artificial Condition, and Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells - 4/5 stars average (reread, audio)

And I had fully intended to save my reread/re-listen until closer to the release of the newest sequel, but...here I am. Struggling not to immediately queue up Exit Strategy before October.

#8 - The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic—and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World by Steven Johnson - 5/5 stars (audio)

Needed something to listen to, figured I'd learn something at the same time.

Clearly I took this history lesson very seriously.

(I did actually learn a lot and the narrative was well-constructed and yeah ok I cried at the conclusion sue me.)

Side note: The first chapter especially reminded me very strongly of the Lockwood & Co books.

#9 - The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner - 4/5 stars (reread)

I've screamed about this book plenty. Y'all know how I feel. HOWEVER...reading a book covered in delightful notes and commentary from my friends made for an interesting and slow (in a good way) reading experience. 10/10 would recommend.

#10 - Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, translated by Constance Garnett - 4/5 stars ('23 TBR, audio)

And with that, I've officially broken into Russian lit. Y'all weren't kidding, these boys are wild.

Beyond that, at present, I really don't know what to say.

Present History by Ashley Nikole - I paid money for this book. 😭😭 Couldn’t get past the first chapter. Clunky, dry writing, poor pacing, no emotion, and a mirror-description on the third page. That's why we read samples before buying kindle books.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - This book has been on my radar since...probably back when it was first published. More lately, the author has been coming up on my instagram recs (for reasons I still can't fathom since I try to avoid bookstagram). I figured I needed to check it out sometime soon, to get it off my tbr one way or another.

I went into it knowing it was a classic YA dystopian story (with writing group warnings echoing this reminder). Even forewarned, I found the first person present tense jarring. And the narrator was...not helpful.

Narrative voice: ok.

Main character: frickin' annoying.

Nicknames for the different kinds of Silver superpowers: BEYOND ANNOYING

It was at this point that I actually dug into what the story was about. And read some reviews. And said no thanks.

the state of the NHS after fourteen years of Tories is a terrifying and miserable capitalist hellscape

case in point, me, the last week or so:

have uti, picked up from a partner's infection. Very simple easy thing to treat. This one is a nasty little bugger, I feel like shit.

call gp. Ask for appointment.

No appointments.

At length told a pharmacy can prescribe 3 days of antibiotics without you seeing gp. Excellent!

Receive antibiotics. At this point we are ~3-4 days in. That's also how long it's been since I had a proper night's sleep because I HAVE TO GET UP TO PEE FOUR TIMES.

Antibiotics produce great improvement, but (surprise) perhaps not 100% by the time I finish the course. Nevrthless, am told by pharmacy I can't get any more from them. I must go to gp.

Call gp. Come down at 8am physically to surgery next day.

Arrive at 7.47. 12th in the queue. Total queue reaches >20 by 8am. For a cool parallel, they run out of appointments at person 8. The poor receptionist looks like if she has to tell one more person there's nothing she can do, she'll cry.

Receptionist tells me I can try again tmm (arrive at 7.30? I wonder thoughtfully) or try submitting a request through The App. Someone will call me today. I thank her and submit it in the car before I leave.

3.55 (GPs generally close at 4pm). No call. I squish down the fear that I am Karen-ing and call in. "I'm so sorry," I say, "do you know if I WILL be called today?"

She says I might get one up to 6pm, but that will only be a receptionist who will be booking an appointment in the next couple of weeks. "This can't wait two weeks," I say. "Your own guidance says so."

"There's nothing I can do," she says, and: "You shouldn't be using the online system for things that are urgent, anyway." "I tried to get an emergency appointment and there was nothing: I was TOLD to use this," I say, helplessly. "...Well anyway," she says, "the receptionist might call you by six."

AHA! I think. I am immensely lucky and have some small health insurance through work - including virtual gp. Maybe they can help! I book an appointment through that platform, relieved.

The appointment is over the phone within an hour - phenomenal. She tells me that she is not allowed to prescribe me anything: the uti not fully clearing up in 3 days of antibiotics means I need specialist urine testing as there is likely resistance. It needs to happen immediately, today, tonight, because I am at risk of a kidney infection. She can only refer me back to the NHS.

I say "but they don't have anything, and I can't argue - the poor receptionist can't do anything about not having appointments."

"You have to fight," she says. "You have to be seen. Go to urgent care if you have to."

It is now 6.05pm. The receptionist has not called.

Guess I'm spending the evening in a&e.

This is the struggle to get basic healthcare in the UK right now, and there is very often NO OPTION other than A&E. I HAVE some level of "private healthcare", and they could not do anything. Imagine what it's like for most people who don't even have the tiny level of access for a virtual GP to tell them that they ARE right, and they DO need to make a fuss.

I have been crying on and off all day. This is just not having healthcare. I wish I had any confidence at all that we'll change how we vote as a country.
