He couldn’t help the tears that misted his eyes but he breathed deep through his nose, memorizing their scent. Trying to hold onto it—the imprint of his child while they were still untouched by this malicious place. “Come on, Adar,” the minder said, voice filled with cruel glee. “Your time’s up.” It always ended too soon.

That's kind of what we're here to accomplish. jien: So it's a temporary cenotaph. jing yuan: And naturally our greatest concern here is avoiding semantic ambiguity. jien: Semantic ambiguity is how vampires get you.

This one is a very recent wip. For context, I spent the last three weeks or so watching ALL three seasons of Hannibal. I tend to get inspired by content I consume. You can guess where this is going.

The puzzle pieces kind of come together a few different ways.

Felix tells Josh a few stories and memories from his upbringing that gives Josh a little insight. Felix also grew up with Kurtis (the friend from Chapter Five!), so Kurtis clues Josh in on a lot. Other than that, Josh puts the rest together himself or snoops around for photo albums, documents, etc.

thank you so very much for this ask i love it so dearly. i got it last night it made my night and i typed up about three paragraphs and then lost them. but my night was still made

you know me well enough to know what you're getting into re: detailed rants in response to simple questions

anyway my thoughts are these.

with ethanjimclaire you kind of have two dynamics in play at all times. One is the playacted dynamic that ethan is aware of, that claire and jim actively feed into in order to manipulate him. In that dynamic, Jim is the sheepdog, Claire is the lamb, Ethan is the wolf. Jim is a protector, where Ethan is the corrupt predator outsider--a wolf in sheepdog's clothing, maybe. And Claire is the object of desire. (This is in itself an oversimplification but we'll stick with it for now.)

In the other dynamic, the one lurking underneath all their interactions, Ethan is the lamb, I'd argue Jim is the wolf, and Claire is the sheepdog. This is also an oversimplification. Jim and Claire both are....both. They feel a responsibility and care for Ethan that is reflected in their actions. They're also both wolves, wanting to beat Ethan, outsmart him, overpower him. The distinction in my mind that solidifies Jim as more wolf and Claire as more sheepdog is that Jim's fantasy for defeating Ethan ends with him dead. Claire's fantasy for defeating Ethan ends with him protected, fooled, and owned.

There's something motherly in the way Claire treats Ethan...it works as an interesting contrast to the way she consciously positions herself as vulnerable. Those two poles (Claire on the floor below Ethan reaching out; Claire standing above Ethan making plans) form the main body of the Claire/Ethan dynamic. Claire doesn't want to eat Ethan because she's reliant on the feeling of power that comes from being able to manipulate and manage him. And she's reliant on the fantasy of being saved by him. I could talk about this more but it would end up spiraling into a whole other discussion because honestly the Claire/Ethan dynamic is one of the most fascinating parts of MI1.

As the movie goes on and more information is revealed, these two dynamics, the playacted one and the hidden one, end up colliding and interacting in interesting ways. Jim being the wolf and Claire being the pretend-lamb* brings Ethan into the role of sheepdog, chasing Jim down to kill him out of an emotion that feels more like duty than rage.

There's more I could say about this because of course there is. I do nothing but talk about and think about these three...but i want to thank you again for this ask.

Thoughts on ilsaethanbenji? i have my own opinions but im interested to hear yours.

*interestingly, once claire dies, she becomes actually a lamb for the first time--in her role as victim, and because her death reveals how much danger she was in all along, which neither she nor ethan were aware of.

I don't think I have one specific line yet, but I have this lil bit from a future chapter written that made me giggle to myself when I wrote it!

With everything settled, she practically skips to Morgan, who sees her approach and looks like she wants one of them to wither on the spot, not caring just which of the two it is.

"Your Majesty—"

Ely cuts her off with a smile. "Don't scowl, Sir Morgan, I thought you'd be thrilled to go to the lake."

Morgan blinks. "The lake?"

"Though, if you do detest me so much, I'll just go and ask—"

"I can take you to the lake. I thought you'd make me take you to the market. The lake is fine."

Ely beams. "Do you think me so cruel?"

these ARE the kinds of asks i was implying yes! (Or stupid ones I accept any and all talking at me really.)

But to answer your question, in the Gaplands Lore a Godfall is something akin to a whalefall in our world! As a member of The Host is destroyed/depleted/cut down from their position as a "god" they begin to shed high-amounts of potent magic, and Thronebreakers- those who seek to destroy The Host for any given reason- are regularly seen at the sites of these deaths, rare as they are- in order to take on some of the fallen's magic for themselves.

Godfalls are uncommon, and draw dragons sornieth-wide to follow the path of destruction, fighting in the quaking footsteps of the beasts trudging to their final resting places for who might take home the greatest prize- both followers of the falling god and the opportunistic alike.

The aftermath's benefits cannot be understated, however, The Host's members tend to over-fill on magic, giving them the powers they bear in the first place, and the smaller scraps left unclaimed go on to seed their deathsites with latent power, leylines and magical earth for young clans to establish themselves- albeit among the bones of a grand leviathan twisted by the very magic they use now to survive.

Aaaayyyy, of course >:3 OrdoMaze is the ship that recently gnaws on my last remaining braincells and I regret nothing. For this one I only have a little sketch for the purpose of not forget about it, but the full idea is in my head for a while. Maze will never admit that their last sex on the office desk was the most thrilling and dangerous thing ever happened to him since he is stationed at Coruscant, which is quite pathetic considering he is an elite soldier born to kill and survive in harsh environment behind enemy lines. He explicitly told Ordo this affair should not be repeated again, under no circumstances. Ordo promised, not because he really wanted to oblige Maze's wish, but to pursue a higher purpose later and give his di'kutla boyfriend his heart's wish:

And that was thrill. The picture below depicts a scene, where Ordo in a Coruscant Guard armor shoves Maze into the fresher to fuck him there. Why was Maze in the Senate Building in the first place? For porn reasons of course!

I still don't know if I should make a comic about this or write it and make illustrations for it. We'll see!

tony: transguy. i dont think he thinks about gender beyond knowing hes a guy but hes pretty chill about how he presents and considers wearing fem clothes totally neutral and swag actually. actually i think "tboy swag" perfectly encompasses his gender identity

cassandra: trans woman. she sort of presents herself however is convenient but is generally internally very femme

4) is your oc's environment supportive about their identity? how does this impact them?

tony: i think in the modern day yes :-) it was more difficult while he was human and nerve wracking considering he was stealth but its fine now

valentine: It Depends. her sire is very much like "i dont take anything about you seriously including this so i'm not going to respect it" but since most of the court LIKES her (only tremere prince to manage this) theyre supportive. i think she blew up coming out more in her head and it wasnt that bad when it happened. everyone loves epic tgirls

aster: yes but persus (her matesprit) is supportive in the "if my friend wants boobs bounce bounce am i right" way and this pisses her off. especially since i dont think transphobia really exists in trolland based on my internal headcanons hes just like this

tony: i think he always at least presented masc. funniest possibility is that he saw a hotguy in Old Movies as a teen and was like waooooooooogggg i should do this

jack: i think he goes cruising mostly because theres more gayguys in town during pride

tony: i KNOW that bitch gets into it. he would be topless in the parade handing out freebies and giving sagely advice to younger queers and letting people touch his tits if they wanted.

We see Rokurou drinking sometimes during the game, he quite enjoys it, and on rare occasions my s/i will join him! Though usually it's just Panchi keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't break anything or do anything reckless while he's drunk-afksnfkd

Also the two of them tend to make jokes together. One of my personal favorites is the two of them calling Eizen an old men when they both find out his age

Here's my college try - a perfect drabble set in the Scars universe (100 words)

Adar sat alone by one of the bonfires of the Long Night and felt warmth on his face. In the circle marked by these flames, they laughed, drank, ate, and importantly—they lived. For the first time since its coming, the sun didn’t trouble their days, but this mid-winter night was no less vibrant for it. “Ah—ada?” A tiny hand clutched at his sleeve. Vazg, and Vrath running after her, ready to snatch her up. He shook his head and allowed the child to clamber into his lap to watch the flames. To him, this fire sounded like peace.

Apparently, Vazg is talking now! But I suppose she is about the right age for that. I think they're all in trouble given her parentage <3

Like five BILLION stubbornship wips that I keep bouncing between like a mad pinball. And then my big YGO/Spider-Man crossover that will likely never see the light of day but it entertains me and I enjoy writing it.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

Oh my god. YES. Keep the Light Shining by clydeside. It's sweet and authentic puzzleship with the supporting cast so beautifully characterized. It's atmospheric maritime horror so well-done that I had to be careful not to read it at night. It takes a brief delve into some historical fiction of a caliber you'd usually find in a published novel. IT'S TAGGED CANADIAN GOTHIC. If you have even a passing interest in puzzleship, I am telling you, this fic rewired my brain.

Pretty much anything @dxmichelle has to say in my inbox, she makes me laugh out loud on average at least once per comment.

I think Yves is an ESFJ! For Vincent, I'm stuck between ISTJ and INTJ. :)

I haven't though enough about all of the (many) side characters to assign them MBTIs, but I know a few (Leon is an ENFP, Victoire is an INFJ, Mikhail is an ESTP, Cara is an ISFJ, Genevieve is an INTP).

it's a little on the nose, considering that ichi's name literally means "strawberry", but it really is his favorite flavor and it's one we often get when we get dessert together. so it seemed only fitting to have our wedding cake also be strawberry as well 🍓

Labradorite: What made you fall in love with your wip? What motivates you to write it?

Ooo! Okay, so.

What has made me fall in love with Liminal Bird-Dogs, besides my characters (which is always my favourite part of writing), is how much learning I've done throughout the process! It's my first screenplay that is long enough to be considered a feature film, and I've been using techniques and types of scenes I've never done before. I also just love the aesthetic of the film so far? I plan to post some more moodboards for the world building and some of the secondary characters soon!

As for Safe As Burning Houses, I love the dynamics of the characters and especially the antagonist. And also the film's aesthetic since it is about fire/flames but also the town is based on my hometown.

And for Red Ring Of Fate, the timeline and the romance (kinda a dumb answer since it is a romance novel... but I'm proud of it!)
