Writing Process

Okay, so I thought I'd share some of my writing process here considering it is a writing blog after all. Maybe someone will find these useful or give some helpful input considering my process tends to be rather chaotic.

1. Ideas

I don't really sit down with the intention of coming up with an idea for a fic. Most of it comes to me naturally, as I go on about my day and daydream about certain dynamics or lore. However, I've noticed I tend to get inspired by:

• music - I like making playlists for fanfics I haven't even written yet, and then listen to the songs as I write. It helps me shape the plan for how the story is about to go, set the mood, in certain cases even inspire specific scenes.

• personal experiences - I noticed fics like that tend to perform well. People can tell when something is heartfelt. Do not underestimate your readers.

• ships - Already mentioned them, but about to highlight them again. Some people say that ship fics are less than but I couldn't disagree more. I've never been truly in love myself, yet find it such a fascinating thing. I could write about it endlessly from a bunch of different perspectives and never get bored of it.

Maybe it's my brain stopping me, but I never get inspired by fanart, as much as I love looking through the tags on here. Just a fun fact.

Basically, I start off with a single scene in my brain and then, I build off of it.

2. Beginning

When I realize I have something to elaborate on, that's when I boot up Google Docs and open a new document. I used to work in Word instead, but I switched to a different program for convenience. Google Docs crashes less and seems neater.

That's also when I like to think of a name for the fic. I search through synonyms for key words, phrases, famous and niché quotes. I like my titles short and concise, but also symbolic; such as with 'inferno', 'endophagy' and 'dowager'. They have to make sense within the context of the fanfic.

After I find something cool, that's when I make a document called "[fic name] PLAN".

- It's where I start writing down the idea in more detail.

- It's good to elaborate on each scene. A few sentences won't cut it; sometimes in the plan, I even put in actual paragraphs or even dialogue.

- English is not my native language, but I like to write the plan using it anyway. Ironically, it gives my brain more freedom; grammar in English is easier than the one in my native language.

- My plans usually have ~1-2k words.

- If I write a chaptered fic, I try to make a plan document for each chapter. Also, I tend to have the beginning of the story and the ending in my head, but add onto the middle as I go. So, even though I've had the idea for 'endophagy' in my head since 2021, as well as the ending (!), the chapters in between are improv.

3. The fanfic

I try to finish writing the plan in full before moving onto the actual thing, but there are exceptions.

I create a new document called the actual fic's name in another tab and start writing. I check the plan document every now and then, because oftentimes I forget about certain story beats or dialogue I wanted to include. When I finish a paragraph, I mark it in red in the plan, then switch the tab again. It's helpful to see your progress.

Now, a more controversial thing about me is that

I refuse to make multiple drafts

There are writers that make a bunch of drafts. If that works for you, amazing! Personally, it'd drive me insane. The longer I work on a fic, the more I begin to despise it. I don't write for pleasure, I write because I have things boiling in my head and it's the only way to release the tension. A such, I write the entire fic and then read through it once to catch mistakes. Then, I post and forget all about it.

20 Questions More

This is a deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks to @casualsavant for the tag. I'm not even sure I did the first 20 Questions round, but rules be damned.

1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship/fandom?

Well, like anything I write, I get ideas from everything around me - they come to me from dreams, something I see, from random prompts, etc. As most writers know, we are simply the vessel, it's the brain goblins that tell us what to do.

2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?

Geez, we have so many in the Supercorp/Supergirl fandom. I'm not even sure that's a fair question. HA. I will inevitably leave someone out, but here are a few of my favorites @searidings, @jazzfordshire, @chaotic-super, @lovesastateofmind1, @innamorament0, @someoneyouloved93, @lostariels, @luthordamnvers, @thornedrose44, and @fazedlight. I read such a variety of genres, tags, and tropes that I will give almost anything a chance so the authors I read will vary. There's oh so many to choose from in this fandom and the vast talent is beyond imagination!

3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?

Hmmm, I like writing Sam, Andrea, and Jack. The rest of the main cast is fun too, but those three characters are fun to explore in fics. The shenanigans they get into together makes it easy to play with.

4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?

Karamel, Lames, and Kalex. I am pretty open-minded, but those are my hard limit ships. To each their own. It's not my thing at all. I'm pretty open to tropes, too. Haven't had a chance to explore too many yet.

5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?

I'm not sure how to answer this one, really. It can vary depending on what's going on in my life and how the idea came about.

Generally speaking, I get an idea, outline the basic premise of the story (usually in a word or google doc), do whatever research is needed (longer fics), and just start writing (or staring at the outline and empty doc). That's writing too, ask any writer. LOL

One shots tend to be more like: get idea, sit at desk thinking while blank doc stares back at me tauntingly, look out window, turn back to blank doc, write three sentences, back space all three sentences, look out window again, write three more sentences, repeat previous steps, then the brain goblins take over and suddenly it's 4 hours later, somehow there's several thousand words staring back at me.

6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?

Because I am a huge nerd, the research. I love to research the things I write. Not all of my stories require it, but when they do, I dive right in. Completing the story is a big one too. The anxiety and excitement that comes with yeeting something into the ether is indescribable.

7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?

Weirdest thing...pagan rituals and ancient runes or bondage/fetish clubs in Amsterdam. There is some really interesting things out there. I learned a lot during that time.

8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?

I think tense is one that slips on me. I try to catch them all during rereads and edits, but those little bastards are sneaky.

9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?

The panic attacks and abuse scenes relating to Lena in Carterhaugh-Wood Academy (CWA). Lena is my absolute favorite character and writing anything that causes her harm hurts my soul.

10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?

Is water wet? My characters always do what the brain goblins want despite my initial protest. I am just here to convey the message, after all.

11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?

Oh, hands down, Lena. I wouldn't pass up a chance to speak with any of them, let's be real, but Lena would be #1.

12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?

I am by nature a fluff and happy-ending writer. However, I am working on an angst with a happy ending fic at the moment. The tropes I have written so far have been limited to friends to lovers and a little light angst with happy ending. I'm still exploring other things. Hopefully 2024 will be the year I can flex my writing muscles and expand into new territory.

13) What's your most important resource as a writer?

Friends and other writers. Nothing beats a good brainstorming session with writer pals. I also like to do improv writing to boost creativity. You never know where a story will go when that happens.

14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?

The strategy depends on the story. For longer fics, I have a few writer friends that help with reading over it and helping with typos, grammar errors, and helping fluff up the places that need it. For one shots or shorter fics, I will let it sit for a bit, go back and read it again to do the editing and rewrite the places that my brain doesn't like.

15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?

Oooof, definitely the posting anxiety. I usually immediately find something else to do so I don't obsess over it.

16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?

Hits, kudos, and comments are always fun and rewarding, but I write for my own enjoyment and sanity. I have plenty of fics that barely get any love, but I enjoy writing them. It's therapeutic for me. The rest is just noise. Also, like any writer, I love to hear from readers and try to respond to all my comments because they mean a lot to me.

17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character/ship?

Sometimes, yes. It depends on what I am writing and how I am feeling. Most of the time it is instrumental piano and/or cello music because I will start accidentally typing the lyrics of a regular playlist. If I am going for a specific vibe or writing because of a specific song, I will have the song on repeat or at least an album by the artist.

18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?

19) How many WIPs do you currently have?

13 total with another one that is in the planning stages.

20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?

Write for yourself. If you love it, it brings you enjoyment, and adds to your life, continue doing it. You're not going to please everyone and there will be people who are less than kind about something you publish. Those voices don't matter. There is someone out there that has read or will read your work and it will stick with them for the rest of their lives. Always do it for you.

I’m in love with the idea of twitch streamer bf eren

OKAY ME TOO!! Easily top 3 best Eren concepts imo it’s just so good and so... him, he falls on the gamer himbo boyfriend side of the scale for sure

Let’s start with his setup: purple and/or green with a dark wood tabletop. He keeps the lights green during the day or when his computer is idle, and mixes in the purple when it’s dark out because he likes the Ambiance. 

Only one monitor and do not let him buy another one no matter how much he claims he needs it. He does not. He has a TV in his room tho, but it’s not mounted above or near his desk; it’s on the opposite wall that faces his bed. Laying down and watching Netflix takes priority.  

He’s a sucker for themed keyboards/keycaps. If he finds a set themed around his favorite show or a character he likes, he’ll buy it. No self control.

The majority of his keyboards have that super clacky almost officey sounding click to them, and he’s obsessed with it. Sometimes he fucks around on Google Docs typing nonsense just to hear the keyboard make noise.

Puts in special keycaps on the ones with your initials on whichever keyboard he’s using at the moment <3 gamer boyfriend things <33

Always swears he wants to do some kind of special event or thank you for subscriber/follower milestones, but he never catches his own milestones 😭😭 by the time he realizes he has 100k subs, he’s already on 103k or something 

Then he calls you, his friends, and his subscribers fake for not pointing it out to him like sir it’s right there on your screen please. All you had to do was LOOK

If he’s in the middle of a game and he really has a to pee, or he’s gotta go do something, he’ll yell for you, and you come in, obviously slightly worried, but then Eren is just hurriedly giving you instructions, “Here, press left or right to move, spacebar to fire, avoid these, kill those. That ugly look thing to the left is Jean, and over there is his character. You’re teammates, I’ll be right back,” before he puts his headphones on your head and runs off. Now you’re left to fend for yourself, good luck.

He can be gone anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes 😭😭 if he’s gone for a short amount of time, he comes back with just as much chaotic energy to take back his headphones and shoo you away as he did to throw it all on you pls.

Other times, he’ll go and make a whole ass meal and come back sauntering in with a half eaten grilled cheese in hand, “Oh shit are you still playing, babe—hey you’re doing really well, look at you go!”

When you’re not there, he mentions you a lot, because he’s always thinking about you no matter how small it is; even just the design of a character would prompt him to a make a comment, “I don’t think my girlfriend has ever played this, but I know she’d main this character.” 

Does he invite you to play a game he knows you’ve never played or are bad at with him on his stream, knowing full well he’s an ace at it and will crush you publicly? Absolutely. Without a doubt. 

There’s always a very shameless, not at all subtle shoutout to his Instagram in the middle of all his streams please, he’ll be playing a game and randomly it’s like, “Fire pic on Instagam by the way, go like that.” 

His comments are pretty respectful whenever you’re there or he mentions you; there’s a few cheeky randoms who like to make donations whenever you’re on the screen or say some inappropriate stuff, but Eren’s learned to just ignore it. It doesn’t make him happy, and he might tell people to chill if it’s excessive, but he won’t call out anything explicitly and make you uncomfortable while you’re there. 

Sometimes Connie will make a comment about how you’re hot, and that’s definitely something Eren will call out and bring attention to, more so to mock Connie than anything. 

At one point, his subscribers keep asking for more content with you (especially if you’re not there often/it’s been a while since people have seen a peek of you), to which Eren will pout because, “Hey, this is my Twitch-- now, look, you’ve gotten your Eren’s hot girlfriend privileges revoked for the week.”

Terrible at doing unboxing videos whenever he gets sent product because he just rips things open 😭😭 he’s too eager to do ASMR or gentle/detailed unboxing, he just wants to test out the new parts as soon as possible. 

Abuses his spinny gamer chair. Spins himself dizzy on it (yes, while he’s streaming and waiting for lobbies/things to load), spins you dizzy on it when you’re just trying to be comfy, spins the both of you dizzy when he’s trapped you on his lap. 

He’d be one of those lucky people who gets a cool single name user/ID. Like he gets just @eren or @jaeger/yeager, because his name is pretty unique, but I can totally see him going the typical fun gamer tag route. 

His content is anything from him streaming Overwatch and COD to terraforming his Animal Crossing island, he does not discriminate. One day you could get Eren calling Jean a fucking dumbass for not healing him, and the next day he’s doing his best impressions of Timmy and Tommy.

Do not put it past him to build you a whole ass PC setup if you express the slightest interest in one, even if it’s not solely for gaming/you wanna use it for work/school. He’ll do it. He’ll make his hyperfixating work for him. 

Plus then he’d get to give you one of his old keyboards and give you special keycaps with his initials and go on about how he’s officially got a gamer gf even if all you can do is press the spacebar <33

1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

if i change the font, i write in times new roman xD i am a science bitch through and through!! i have it set to my default on actual word, but in google docs it's just on arial and i only change it if it starts to bother me. i only care about 25% of the time!

(however i will not write in comic sans ever. no matter who tells me it's good for writer's block or creativity or whatever. i will write in wingdings before i write in comic sans.)

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

feral in a good way? desperate, profound, beholden

feral in a bad way? orbs, member, squelched

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

hmm i tend not to write in books, one reason being that i was always told i would like, go to baby jail if i did so. another being i don't really own that many physical books. i'm not about to deface public library property! if i like something, i will copy it into my ongoing note in my phone titled "lines that i like" so that i can later go back and reread them and be fond and mushy.

i use bookmarks because i think they are so cute and fun. also i like to use random things too because that way if i ever forget them in books from the library, i might give the next reader a silly little treat.

i do read in the bath, but mostly i will put on an episode of something instead. this way, i am reminded to actually exit the tub at some point, because otherwise i will decay in there and never get out xD

i will be friends with everyone, though i slightly question the people who do the millions of sticky tabs in their books to mark moments. idk, it seems sort of wasteful. but also they are enjoying themselves and their book so whatever :)

16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?

haha. i stole a drawing of a fish i had found at a beach house my bf and his family were staying in one spring break. it was a doodle some random stranger had left behind! not sure where it is now :(

honorable mentions include to/from tags my mom made for christmas with pictures of my dogs, and also a cheese stick. (wrapped)

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

this depends! for arms unfolding and where are you roaming, my two big multichaps, i have done extensive outlines. i say extensive, but really it's just been me rambling about what i want in the chapters. for smaller works it either looks like a few random bullet points or i just start writing right away, lest the ideas leave my head before they're out on paper.

i do really love the frantic, word-vomit stage of planning though! it's so crazy and chaotic for me most of the time and it's funny to go back to it as i'm getting further into the story and be like, "oh, yeah. that's where i was going with this!! such enthusiasm!!"

35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?

i'm a comma abuser.. idk man i feel like a lot of the time i just slap commas wherever the hell i please and neither god nor google docs grammar checker will get me to take them out.

39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?

this will definitely come off as super sappy but it's definitely the community of people i've been lucky enough to find myself a part of. all of the incredible friends i've made through fanfiction/fanart are such an inspiration to me, and it's really been such a blessing to be able to hear everyone's takes on everything—the good stuff and the bad. like, whenever someone is down on one of their pieces or super stuck on something, i try to be supportive and hear them out, so it would be unfair to myself to not give myself the same treatment. also, everyone rocks and is so kind that they really motivate me to keep going :)

2021 Fic Year in Review

Fandoms I’ve written in this year: schitt's creek

Did you write more/less fic than you thought you would this year, or about what you expected? there were a lot of moments throughout the year where i felt as if i wasn't posting as often as i wanted, but looking back, an average of 3.3 fics a month at almost 4k words each is not bad. i'm quite proud of it, actually.

What’s your favorite story you wrote this year? probably lay me down in the tall grass. i was in a funk during that time and writing anything that i liked was so out of reach, but i finally felt like myself when i wrote this one. it was an idea i had had for a while, and it was so so lovely being able to find my words again.

Did you take any writing risks this year? i actually wrote a long, multi chapter fic this year, which is not something i ever expected myself capable of. bringing me one step closer (to you) has a special place in my heart, seeing as it was my longest fic to date and a f/f rare pair, but then currents all around us happened lmao. i love writing character studies, but this was such a daunting deep dive into david's head. if i started with my final outline versus what i originally intended, i honestly don't know if i would have followed through. i did, though! and i'm very proud of myself for that and i love how it turned out.

Most popular story you wrote this year? know it in my mind — fun fact, i started writing this one in line to get my first covid vaccine and had planned to finish it that weekend, but alas i severely underestimated my reaction lol.

Most fun fic to write: oh my goodness, there are so many. squabbles, etc. is the first one that comes to mind, though. i started coming up with it in the shower, so it was,, an experience to repeat the dialogue over and over as i shampooed by hair.

Biggest disappointment: i don't know if i'd really call this a disappointment since i know to expect it, but i do wish that our little wlw corner got some more love. there are so many talented writers here, and they deserve all the love and attention!! go read their works!!!

Biggest surprise: honestly, i'm constantly surprised that y'all actually like my silly little words, but! the response to got no sway on my destiny was not at all what i was expecting. that scene was literally sitting in a google doc, untouched, because i could not come up with the rest of the story. saying "fuck it" and cleaning it up to post as a stand-alone was more to just give it a place to live where it would see daylight, so seeing all the lovely kudos and comments was weirdly validating, not just of that work, but of me as a writer.

Do You Have any fanfic/podfic goals for the new year? so many lmao. there are several that i have promised (*cough cough* whatever i've blabbed about with reason and the RA photoshoot *cough cough*), which either means i need to stop treating tumblr tags as a drafting space or that i simply need to actually plan out what i write; time will tell if either of those happen! in the near future, there's a Season 6 coda and a very chaotic husbands... journey and maybe a missing scene from currents but you didn't hear it from me.

A Fanfic Writer Interview

Fandoms: Star Wars Original Trilogy (almost entirely Luke & his dad Vader)

Two-shot: Never written one

Most popular multi-chapter: An Unintended Side Effect, but it’s also my only haha. Just started writing fanfic in November 2020.

Actual worst part of writing: Out of sight out of mind so all I can think of as the worst part of writing rn is organizing my notes document maybe? My brain goes in circles, so we’ll think of point A, then point C, then B, then F, then A again, and so on going back and forth and around and around instead of a logical, chronologic order. Then once it’s all a jumbled mess in the giant google doc I’m like aaaa how to organize into something actionable. And yet I need that continuity and ideas sheet in order to write a coherent story, so organize it I must.

How you choose your titles: Either smash a title generator until it gives me something good or that sparks an idea, or a single descriptive word lol.

Do you outline: Yes, chaotically. I’ve got a future plot points list and a past events list so I know where I’ve been and where I’m going, and I write both as I write the story (so the plot outline isn’t fully fleshed out before I start, although I do have an idea on where I want to end and at least one major thing in the middle).

Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice?: I’ve got three things in my one-shots collection (actually one isn’t published yet so two “one-shots” and one currently-secret story) that I want to make into their own fleshed-out things. The mermaid au, AU-au (mirror on Hoth), and a fantasy au that’ll probably get out of hand once I start it lmao.

Callouts @ me: You have all this summer free time, if brain only wants to do one thing & nothing else please just make it writing or something actually fun and not just social media please. 

Best writing trait: Hm idk. I like to make sensations vivid so hopefully you can feel what the character is feeling, and I’m working on making descriptions beautiful, too.

Spicy tangential opinion: I agree with and am inspired by Spell’s point about how you’ll never be as good a writer as you want to be and you develop the skills to write things “above your level” by writing them

Another opinion is uuuuhhhhh leave commints, it is easy (”I really enjoyed x bit, thanks for writing!” or just send a bunch of emojis even) and makes creators more likely/inspired to create :)

A/N: Sorry this took so long to upload, I was on vacation and sick mixed with personal life issues. Sidenote: Google Docs crashed on me halfway through writing this so that also set this back. I also made this the longest part out of all so it took me a bit longer. So anyways, thank you for your patience! As usual, I own nothing!

As night dawned Thornhill Mansion was overpowered by music and teenagers. All the spa supplies were tucked into closets and all the girls were quick to change into more party-friendly outfits. You wore a small black leather skirt paired with a red crop top that dipped at the cleavage along with black strappy heels. You kept your makeup natural and accessorized with hoop earrings and a choker. You strutted around Thornhill swaying your hips to the music looking for a boy in Jugheads peripheral vision. The truth is you wanted to get over Jughead but first, you also wanted to give him a bit of a taste of his own medicine. You wanted to hurt Jughead just like he hurt you. Suddenly, you spotted Jughead sitting on a couch with Betty sitting on his lap. The two were wrapped up in their own little world, each with a red solo cup taking small slow sips which made you smirk. You thought about how mad you could make Betty if she noticed her boyfriend eyeing another girl. 

You pretended to not notice the couple as you served yourself a drink.

“So, what’s your plan?” Cheryl asked as she swirled the jungle juice. “I assume you’re going to give me a good taste of chaos. You know Sweet Pea could be a good candidate. He hates Jughead and would totally be down to hook up with you.”

“Where is Sweet Pea?” You questioned, with a sly smile forming around your glossed lips.

“He’s in the kitchen.” Cheryl winked as she turned around walking away. “Oh, and Y/N?”

“Yeah, Cheryl?” You puzzled.

“If you do hook up with the skyscraper, please use a condom. If you both don’t have there’s some in the vanity mirror.” Cheryl cheered as she waved goodbye.

You took a deep breath and chugged some of your drink. You poured more liquid courage and strutted with as much confidence as you could muster towards the kitchen. You immediately spotted the tall handsome boy from the doorway. He was surrounded by his usual friend group of Fangs and Toni.

 “Hey.” You greeted the group. 

“Hey Y/N.” Toni grinned.

“Hey!” Fangs beamed.

You looked over at Sweet Pea who stayed quiet piercing through you with his dark brown eyes.

“Hey Pea, can I talk to you about something?” You asked looking into his eyes biting your bottom lip, which was a nervous tick of yours.

He gave his friends a look and walked away motioning for you to follow. He leaned against the wall in the hallway crossing his arms.

“How would you like to piss of Jughead?” You questioned.

“What do you have in mind?” Sweet Pea responded raising an eyebrow.

“Put yourself in Jughead's shoes for a second. Sweet Pea is not your favorite guy, in fact, the two of you are constantly butting heads. And Y/N, a girl you previously hooked up with and all weekend you have been trying to talk to her but she’s been ignoring you is now flirting with a guy you don’t necessarily like, no offense.” You said factually. “Bonus he’s with Betty right now, so imagine how livid she would get when he gets all pissy about a girl he used to hook up with. It wouldn’t make him look too good now would it?” You finished by flashing a devil-like smile.

“Let's one-up your little plan.” Sweet Pea smirked.

“Oh, now I’m intrigued. What do you have in mind?” You flirted.

“Why just flirt when we can make out in front of him and end it by going upstairs together. We can get Fangs to shout get a room or something, and I’ll answer don’t mind if we do.” Sweet Pea replied cockily.

“Let’s go before it gets past Jugheads bedtime.” You smirked.

Sweet Pea held onto your waist as the two of you reentered the kitchen. Fangs, Toni, and Cheryl all stared at the two of you filled with curiosity.

“So, what are you two planning?” Cheryl was the first to question.

“We're going to go make out in front of Jughead and we need one of you guys to call us out and tell us to get a room so Jughead can think we're hooking up.” You beamed deviously.

“Please make this as chaotic as possible.” Cheryl remarked.

“Cheryl, Sweet Pea and I are Jughead’s worst nightmare.” You joked as Sweet Pea guided you to the same room as Jughead.

The two of you began easily by dancing on each other. His hands-on your hips guiding you to sway to the beat with him. Your back was pressed against his, and you felt his warm breath against your neck.

“You know this is only going to be believable if you leave this house with marks?” Sweet Pea flirted against your ear.

���So why don’t we start now?” You flirted, exposing more of your neck to him.

He gladly accepted your offer and planted his soft lips against your exposed neck. You quickly shot a glance over at Jughead who now had your full attention. You smirked as you turned around and kissed Sweet Pea. Your hands snaked around his neck and into his dark locks tugging lightly. He groaned against your lips, sending electricity through your body. His large calloused hands explored your body and found their way to your ass, giving it a squeeze. A bit shocked, you gasped and to this, he asserted his dominance with his tongue in the hungry kiss the two of you were sharing. Sweet Pea broke the kiss, as he kissed your jaw making his way to your ear.

“The look on his face right now is priceless.” Sweet Pea whispered in your ear as he licked the shell.

You exposed more of your neck in a cunning move to peer over at Jughead. He had his jaw to the floor and Betty began to notice.

“Can the two of you get a room already?” Fangs hollered from across the room.

You bit your lip at the cue, and as planned Sweet Pea took your hand and guided you upstairs.

“C’ mon Y/N, let's finish what we started.” Sweet Pea flirted as the two of you walked past Jughead not even bothering to give him another glance.

“I can’t wait to see what you have in store for me.” You purred loud enough for Jughead to hear.

“WAIT!” The two of you heard and turned around, looking straight at Jughead. Sweet Pea let out a loud groan in annoyance as he looked into the eyes of the Prince of the Serpents.

“Y/N, you don’t have to do this.” Jughead pleaded with you as his eyes turned to glass.

“Jughead, may I remind you, you’re with Betty now and by judging her face she looks a little mad. And I don’t see why you’re so upset.” You said innocently, leaning into Sweet Pea’s side. “It’s not like we're dating or anything. Right?”

“Let’s go.” Sweet Pea growled as he began to usher you away.

“Y/N! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you but you doing this, hurts me and I feel like you’re doing that on purpose. He doesn’t care about you. Sweet Pea is bad news Y/N! I’m trying to protect you.” Jughead cried out.

You tilted your head and began to laugh. It was ironic to you that someone who hurt you the way he did was now standing before you trying to protect you. He might as well have just stabbed you, twisted the knife then apply pressure to your wound and make it seem like he was the innocent one.

“Jughead, not everything is about you. Why don’t you go back to Betty, your girlfriend? Because it looks like you’re jealous and that’s not cute. And do I need to remind you I am not yours? You had your chance but you fucked it up. Now if you don’t mind me and Sweet Pea are going to cozy up somewhere upstairs.” You declared.

“Fuck you, Jones.” Sweet Pea growled as he grabbed your hand and dragged you upstairs.

You giggled up the stairs, hearing a furious Betty Cooper rip apart Jughead in front of everyone. 

Well, Cheryl, I ignited a show you wanted. You thought. 

You smiled a genuine smile knowing the fun night you had ahead of you and the revenge you desired. You immediately felt better knowing you wouldn't be the laughing stock of the school when Monday rolled around. The old you began to shine through brighter than ever.

When Yandere wakes up, he feels foggy. His mind is swimming and he can’t open his eyes. For a long moment, he wonders if he’s dead.

No, if he were dead, he’d ironically be in a lot more pain. Not that he isn’t already in pain; the side of his face is throbbing, and his neck feels like he slept on it wrong for a hundred years. He moves his tongue around in his mouth and feels stitches, gauze, a few holes where teeth used to be, and something metal attached to his gums. He recognizes the groggy, numb feeling caused by morphine in his systems, making him drowsy. Eventually, he opens his eyes, and almost immediately closes them against the bright hospital lights. That’s when he hears movement from beside him, and then a voice.

“Oh, sorry hon, let me just…”

Yandere hears a few footsteps, then a light switch flicking off.

“There, that should be better. Can you open your eyes again?”

Yandere does, and he sees that the room is indeed dimmer. He also sees Dr. Iplier sitting in a chair beside his bed. Some of the tension Yandere wasn’t aware was in him drains away; he’s in the clinic, he’s safe. Dr. Iplier smiles at him and ever so gently strokes his hair, keeping his hand on the uninjured side of Yandere’s head.

“I’m so glad you’re okay, kiddo,” Dr. Iplier murmurs, “You were in pretty bad shape.” He shakes his head. “Skull fracture, shattered jawbone, concussion, missing teeth and lacerations, not to mention the bruising and the tear in your esophagus.”

That must have been the burst Yandere felt in his throat before, and the strange, uncomfortable sensation he feels in it now.

“I don’t want you trying to talk right now,” Dr. Iplier continues, “You wouldn’t be able to talk much, anyway, with everything going on here.” He gestures to the injured side of Yandere’s face. “If you were a human you’d never talk right again, but even as a figment, you’ll be recovering for a while.”

Yandere would frown if he felt he knew how to with half his face out of commission. He settles for furrowing his brow instead.

“I know, hon,” Dr. Iplier says in response, smiling sympathetically and giving Yandere’s hair a gentle ruffle. “I promise you’ll be able to talk a bit in a few days, but we’ll have to see how you heal. In the meantime, I did get this…”

Dr. Iplier pulls away from Yandere to grab something on the nightstand. Yandere is handed a plain red notepad, with small tear-away pages, and a retractable pen.

“I know you like red, so this was the best I could do without leaving the clinic,” Dr. Iplier says.

Yandere clicks the pen, writes something, and holds it to Dr. Iplier:

Thanks, Dad :)

Dr. Iplier beams, but also looks like he might cry.

“Aw, no problem, sweetheart,” he murmurs. He takes one of Yandere’s hands in his, the one not holding the pen, and brings it to his lips, softly kissing Yandere’s knuckles. “I love you so much, son.”

Warmth surges through Yandere’s body, overcoming the pain for a brief moment. It doesn’t escape his notice how careful Dr. Iplier is being with him. He can’t help but smile a little automatically, even if it stretches the bandages uncomfortably and makes his cheek ache. He uses his free hand to write on the notepad again.

It’s about as close to how Dr. Iplier's words make him feel as he can get.

“You're too cute,” Dr. Iplier laughs, letting go of Yandere's hand. “Now, can you tell me what happened? I want to see if you’re experiencing any memory loss.” He pauses. “That, and I do actually want to know what happened. We walked into quite the scene earlier.”

Yandere's brow furrows again as he writes.

We?

“Everyone at the meeting could hear the noises coming from the dojo,” Dr. Iplier explains, “Dark and Google got there first.” He shakes his head. “They'd still be there yelling at each other if I hadn't shown up. They wanted someone to blame for what happened to you and Chrome, but they couldn't exactly ask you two what was going on.”

Yandere definitely remembers what happened. He begins to write, laying the notepad on his lap for Dr. Iplier to read each word as it comes. Yandere shudders a little as he writes, thinking about Chrome's hands around his neck and that damn kanabo he should've realized was loose from the wall.

We were sparring and a kanabo fell off the wall! It’s like a big baseball bat with spikes. It hit Chrome in the head and hurt him really bad. He started glitching and I think his objectives got scrambled or something? He got this really blank expression on his face, and he chased me down and fought me and strangled me! I probably could've defended myself because he kept glitching, but I didn't want to hurt him worse! Especially since I'm the one who slammed him into the wall, and I didn't notice the kanabo coming loose, and I tried to get help but he pulled me back to the dojo and I couldn't

“Hey,” Dr. Iplier says softly, placing a hand over Yandere's furiously scribbling one, stilling it. “It’s okay, it wasn't your fault. You can't predict the future, you didn't know all that would happen.” He rubs his thumb over Yandere’s hand as he continues. “I had a feeling it was some freak accident that got you two hurt.”

As much as Yandere feels comforted by Dr. Iplier's hand over his, he moves out if his grip to write again.

Is Aka-kun okay?

“Well, he’s not dying,” Dr. Iplier says, “But he's as bad off as you. The–” He looks at Yandere's notepad again. “–Kanabo did a number on him, according to the other Googles. It might take him longer to heal than you, just because of all the complicated parts he needs fixed and replaced. They probably won't wake him up until he's nearly repaired.”

Yandere writes again as a sinking feeling spreads through his stomach.

It hurt him that bad?

“It wasn’t just the kanabo,” Dr. Iplier admits, “There was also…well, I might get in trouble for telling you this, but Dark threw Chrome into the wall when he found you.”

Yandere whips his head towards Dr. Iplier, so fast it sets off a new wave of pain in his neck. The shock on his face is somewhat cut by his wince, but his feelings are clear all the same.

“In his defense,” Dr. Iplier explains, “Chrome was still strangling you when he got there. He wanted to protect you, but he certainly wasn’t gentle about it. Chrome’s head injury is worse, but getting thrown into the wall still did some damage.”

Yandere frowns, as much as he can with his bandages.

Are you sure he’ll be okay?

Dr. Iplier smiles sympathetically as he reads Yandere’s words.

“I’m sure he will,” he says, leaning forward and kissing Yandere’s forehead. “He’s even tougher than you are, and the Googles know what they’re doing.” Yandere continues to stare at the doctor expectantly, so he sighs and continues. “And his time was still blue, kid. If I thought he was dying, I promise I’d tell you.”

Yandere feels a lot better to hear that, but there’s still guilt lingering in the pit of his stomach. He can’t help but feel like the whole thing was his fault, that he should’ve seen that kanabo was close to falling. He could’ve stopped Chrome from getting hurt, and he could’ve stopped himself from getting hurt, too. And who knows how Chrome will feel when he wakes up? Will he even remember what happened? Yandere almost hopes he doesn’t.

“How about I let Dark and Wilford know you’re okay?” Dr. Iplier asks Yandere, snapping him out of his reverie. “Dark’s pretty worried, and Wilford, well…he’s not that worried, to be honest, but you know how he is. He’ll be glad to see you awake. Dark is out in the waiting room, and so was Wilford last I checked.”

Yandere gives a small nod. Hearing their names makes him realize how much he wants to see them, too.

Wilford ends up coming in first, hugging Yandere tight and practically lifting him out of the bed.

“There you are, kiddo!” he laughs, “I knew you’d be alright.” He pulls away enough to look at Yandere and wink. “Dark and Doc are old worrywarts, but I did my best to set them straight!”

“For God’s sake Wilford, be careful with him,” Dr. Iplier scolds, “The poor kid’s still healing; swinging him around like that isn’t going to make him feel any better.”

As happy as Yandere is to see Wilford and get one of his bear hugs, he has to admit that it’s made him pretty dizzy and set up a dull ache at the back of his head. The happy yet dazed expression on his face reflects that.

“Fine, Fun-Ruiner,” Wilford huffs, putting Yandere back on the hospital bed. Dark approaches as Dr. Iplier helps Yandere get back under the covers.

“Have a little decorum, Wil,” Dark sighs, “Yandere’s been through a lot today.” When he looks to Yandere, his gaze is warm, and Yandere’s heart flutters at the sight.

“Well, I’m gonna go back to my studio,” Wilford says, “Where I can do things without getting yelled at.” He pats Yandere on the head, miraculously avoiding his injury. “Get well soon, kiddo. Studio work is more fun when you’re there!”

Yandere beams, or tries to, anyway, as Dark and Dr. Iplier roll their eyes at Wilford’s petulance. Wilford teleports away, leaving the three alone.

“I’m glad you’re alright, love,” Dark says, giving Yandere a gentle smile as he sits in the chair beside his bed. Yandere scoots closer to him without even thinking about it, eagerly snuggling against him as Dark wraps his arms around him. Dark doesn’t make any sound, but Yandere can feel the chuckle rumbling through his chest against his cheek. Yandere can’t help his smile as he feels Dark kissing the top of his head. He then lifts his head to address Dr. Iplier.

“How is he right now? I’m already aware he can’t speak…”

“He’s on some pretty good painkillers, so the pain should be minimal,” Dr. Iplier answers, “Though, I wouldn’t say he’s comfortable. He hasn’t exactly complained so far, little trooper that he is.” He grins at Yandere, and Yandere returns it as best he can. He pulls away from Dark so he can write on his notepad again, tearing off the old page to start a new one.

I’m pretty sore, but it’s not too bad! It’s definitely not comfortable, no. Mostly because of all these bandages, I can’t even move my mouth that much without stuff pulling.

“Sounds about right,” Dr. Iplier says. He speaks to Dark again. “I told him already, but it’ll be a few days before he can start to talk. I’m not going to let him overdo it.”

“Good,” Dark replies. He looks back to Yandere. “I imagine you’re exhausted, so I won’t stay long.” He cups Yandere’s uninjured cheek with one hand, and Yandere feels it start to heat up with blush. “But I have to ask, love…what on earth happened?”

Yandere’s expression subdues as he takes up his notepad to answer. He’s beginning to realize how little he likes thinking about what happened.

A weapon fell off the wall and hit him in the head. It did something to his brain, his objectives got messed up and he didn’t recognize me. He attacked me and I tried to get to the control room, but he was faster, and I couldn’t defend myself without hurting him worse.

Yandere pauses for a moment, then scribbles on.

Speaking of hurting him worse, you didn’t have to throw him into a wall, Yami! You really hurt him >:(

“He told you about that, then,” Dark says evenly, eyes briefly flicking to Dr. Iplier before focusing back on Yandere. “I’ll admit that I was rather rough, but…” Dark takes Yandere’s hand, the one holding the pen, in his, and brings it to his lips. “…All I saw was Chrome on top of you, strangling you, and I simply reacted.” He lightly kisses Yandere’s hand. “Surely you forgive me, darling?”

Yandere blushes at Dark’s gentle touches, and nods with a soft smile. Dark lets his hand go, and Yandere writes again.

Of course I forgive you, Yami! <3 <3 <3

Dark smiles.

“I’m glad,” he murmurs, leaning forward and kissing Yandere’s forehead. “I’ll go and let you rest, but I’ll be back soon to check on you.” He bends slightly, towards the uninjured side of Yandere’s mouth, and so, so gently kisses the corner of Yandere’s lips. “Take care, love.”

Yandere, cheeks aflame, smiles as hard as he can and squirms in place, too charmed to contain himself. Dark chuckles before teleporting away, leaving Yandere with a warmth in his chest to contrast with the lingering chill of Dark’s aura.

“For once I agree with Dark,” Dr. Iplier says, approaching Yandere's bedside again. “You definitely need to rest right now. It'll help you heal faster, and…” Dr. Iplier grins. “…Let's be honest, there's not much else you can do.”

Yandere rolls his eyes at Dr. Iplier's cheeky smile, but he has to admit he could use a nap. He hasn't been awake very long but he already feels worn out and ready to sleep for a while. He snuggles into bed, getting as comfortable as he can manage with all the bandages on his face and head.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: I know there’s a lot of strikes in there, but please don’t think that I’m strict of something, because it’s the literal opposite, I’m just absolutely not interested in romance lmao. I always kept this blog more on the light hearted side, not that it’s crack-oriented, but the jun.kers were designed with COMIC RELIEF in mind and it’s something I really fucking love lmao. DGHDA ZINE - the basics

SO, there has been a decent amount of interest in this zine and that left me a) - utterly floored, because this is SO COOL and b) - in a state of ohshitnowineedtoknowwhattodo.

Below, (or above if you’re upside down) are my thoughts/plans for the zine. Now, please note that my experience is limited - I’m 16, draw for fun, and have only been included in one zine before (that hasn’t actually even concluded yet). I know next to nothing about how to circulate this if we were to print it, and even less about pricing/printing in and of itself. Therefore, my thoughts lean towards the final goal being a .pdf of this zine - put together with a standard amount of pages, standard sizing of A4, and lotsa fandom love.

This is not to say that I don’t think it could become a physical thing, but that I would need help/funds to make that happen.

I think importantly, this zine should be for fun! We all love the show, and we’d all love a collective contribution from members of the fandom, right?

What is a zine/fanzine?

An article from 1984 explained it much better: “One of the most recent phenomena of the pop culture melting pot are fanzines. A fanzine is something akin to an underground magazine, and there are virtually thousands of them springing up all over the country. Fanzines cover a wide spectrum of ideas; the articles, interviews and band reviews, however, are not written in a style found in conventional media. The majority of fanzines are put together in a chaotic fashion; poetry, art dabblings,..”

What does this mean for those wanting to contribute?

I will make a side blog (which I will link as soon as I’ve made it presentable) to organise a schedule.

For me, I have exams coming up throughout summer, and need to put in some serious work. Therefore, I think that having a long period of time to contribute will benefit everyone wanting to put in their two cents. Say, late this year (November/October), or even coordinating with Season 2′s release onto Netflix in December.

I also think that the zine could work in tandem with allowing fandom members to get to know each other better! ‘You love the piece of fanfiction displayed on pg.9? Check the credits out to see the author.’ ...Or something like that!

Who gets to contribute? Can my cat type a segment?

YES, if your cat fills out a form! 

What I HAVE seen used is a process of application forms during other big fandom events. A side blog will be created for the event, and (I presume) a google doc detailing what the job would include, segments to fill out in order to state experience and interests etc. 

Now, I would feel terrible if someone wanting to contribute couldn’t, but considering the size of this fandom, I feel like most people wanting to will be able to. 

How many pages will there be?

‘To be succinct, there really isn’t an “average” or standard number of pages for magazines. With that said, however, most magazines, whatever their overall page count may be, will have a magazine page count that is either divisible by 8 or 4.‘

My thoughts: We wait to see how many applicants there are and decide on that basis. If we don’t print the zine, then in theory, everyone who wants to contribute can, but otherwise, funds might fall flat (especially considering I currently have £0.19 in my bank account). 

No fixation on pairings.

But wait, we want Faranda kissing! 

GURL, ME TOO! I debated this for a while but decided that in order to engage with a wider audience (i.e. beyond the Tumblr fandom) we would want the zine to be ship-free; focused on characters and what we love about them, and inclusive of all characters in the show. 

Now, this really doesn’t have to be or rule, or if followed, mean that no ships could be included! I see no harm in throwing in some fandom-favourite fan fiction, or creating new pieces based on character ships.

Most importantly, I want this to be a collaborative project! I wouldn’t want to show favour to any one user in this fandom... dedicate 15 pages to my pet cats... start discourse over Dirk’s hair colour... I want everyone to feel like they have a say in the contents of this zine.  

At the moment, I haven’t been notified regarding messages in my inbox (the icon doesn’t appear), but I regularly check my emails anyway so I should be able to respond. If I’m not responding quickly either a) message my email directly, or b) yell at me via Tumblr messenger. 

HOWEVER, once the zine blog is up and running I will make a separate email account (probably called ‘DGHDAzine@...’ or something along those lines in order) dedicated solely to the zine. This way I could sort out the user list of who wants to contribute, any questions could be answered without clutter, and I could receive files easily.

In terms of file storage:

I’ve considered using Dropbox as a means of storage for files. Dropbox is free to download, and, if I share the zine folder with all contributors, easy to access. This way, files could be kept safe and manageable by all members working on the zine.

Here is a (crude) visual representation of what I it COULD look like:
