Alike to turtles, I have problematic views!! I look at things that 3/4 of the fandom shares a view in and go: That’s not what’s happening.
The people in my life have heard me ramble I cannot shut up:
I went to this event months ago and it did Trivia and a round was Greek Mythology and everyone in my group was like, “Neko, this is all on you. Don’t let us down” and I got 9/10 right. Go me ✨
Gonna see my bested friend soon! We never get to see each other so we’re making a day out of hanging out. We’re gonna watch the full saga. All of the two hours of it. I am collecting animatics. Silly goose thinks it’s an optional suggestion (it’s not <3)
(Don’t worry, I’m exploring outside interests too. It’s mutual 😜)
Asking me to pick a favorite song is like asking me to pick a favorite fanfiction child. All my children have gifts of their own to share and I love them all with everything that I have!!!
But if you’re asking what song I most commonly have played on repeat and/or belted on the top of my lungs when I’m alone…
I’m Not Sorry For Loving You tops everything else.
Based off this, I wanna say that Calypso is my favorite character. 🤔
I mean, I created a blog where our only purpose in life is to be safe in our horror and empathy for her situation and to acknowledge that she has so much nuance that the fandom doesn’t touch.
But I think if I’m being honest, it’s not her.
At the end of the day, my angsty heart is drawn to Athena.
DISCLAIMER: Controversal opinions ahead. Do not come yell at me if you do not agree. Tell me why I’m wrong, absolutely! But do it kindly and thoughtfully, and maybe we can have a conversation :D
I am passionate about this character. No aggression to the musical. Every song in the musical rocks. It’s merely my passion speaking.
Everything about her breaks my heart. She’s a goddess in a disfunctional family who doesn’t understand mortal ways.
Also, her dad is the most toxic dude alive.
I mean, there’s this one line that people portray in so many ways, but you watch how Zeus interacts with her and recall the fact that he literally didn’t want her to live when she was conceived- he is SUCH a bully and her respect only stems from him being ‘king of the gods’.
None of the gods step in during God Games. At no point does anyone go “dad you can’t threaten your daughter because she did exactly what you asked her to do”. Not even ARES.
He’s the one who says, mortified, “is she dead?” So he didn’t WANT that turn of events. He cares about her and her state of being.
She’s the only one willing to challenge Zeus and he literally says, “you won, I don’t care, I’m going to heavily punish you because I’m unhappy that you said a true statement I didn’t like”
I've no respect for bullies, those who impose their will I've seen plenty enough to truly understand this kind of filth

Literally her entire life- no one’s been on her side! NO WONDER she doesn’t want to take Ody’s offer of friendship. Clearly no one has ever really given her trust or empathy that she can lean on.
She expects people to lack empathy. She doesn’t understand that he’s not that kind of person and her lessons won’t click.
Have you forgotten to turn off your heart? This is not you I see you changing from how I've designed you
Why would she trust a moral when she can’t trust the gods?
And she has such a temper which is so relatable.
They were in two different spectrums and that’s why they clashed.
She was running off of a mentor mindset. He was running off a friendship mindset. Neither was doing what the other needed for the relationship because they were not on the same page.
And then they hit the ditch in the road and everything cracked.
I mistook you for a general What a waste of effort spent
I'll remind you I saw you as a friend But now we're done
And Athena’s proclamation literally is a prediction for herself:
One day, you'll hear what I'm saying One day, you might understand One day, but not today
Time skip: the way that Athena talks to Telemachus says that she’s been stewing in regret because she KNOWS they were good friends and she didn’t want to admit it to herself. She understands why they clashed and now she doesn’t know what to do about it.
So this kid is like “I think you should help him even if he hates you. If he won’t accept your friendship then I’ll be here waiting.”
(*insert waiting, waiting, waiting mantra*)
AND THAT’S LITERALLY EXACTLY WHAT SHE NEEDED TO HEAR?
SHE LITERALLY JUST NEEDED TO KNOW SHE HAD ONE PERSON ON HER SIDE? ONE FRIEND WHO CARED ABOUT HER?
I’m a sucker for ‘doing everything for the people you care about but platonically’ and Athena is the PICTURE of ‘oh wait I would platonically die for my friend’ and like?? That’s beautiful??? 😭
My only qualm with EPIC is the way that the Ithaca Saga handled Athena because you cannot convince me that it did not do her dirty. I have read and scrolled and chewed on all the arguments.
That. Beautiful. Goddess. Went. Above. And. Beyond. To. Mend. Her. Mistake and he outright denied her friendship.
That was not a “oh yeah we can be friends later” very well.
That’s a voice cracking, heartbroken: “I took a thunderbolt for you and you don’t want me in your life” very well. LIKE.
Yes. Oddy went through a lot. No denying that.
But he called out for HER. After everything, he called out for HER HELP. Showed a belief in her. Counted on her to save him
AND SHE DID WHAT HE NEEDED. TOOK A THUNDERBOLT. BEGGED ON HER KNEES WHILE SUFFERING AND IN AGONY.
I can't help but wonder What this world could be If we all held each other with a bit more empathy I can't help but feel like I led you astray What if there's a world where we don't have to live this way?
{I messed up. I want to do better. Is that still possible?}
If that world exists It's far away from here It's one I'll have to miss For it's far beyond my years You might live forever So you can make it be But I've got one endeavor There's a girl I have to see
{No. You have thousands of years to make other friends. There’s no world where we can mend who we used to be. You do what you need to do. My only want is to be with my wife.}
LIKE if they were going to try, the song would SAY that they plan to try. Jorge is not afraid to strongly imply things or outright say them. Ody doesn’t WANT to try and be friends. All he wants is wife. Which would be valid if SHE DIDN’T TAKE A THUNDERBOLT FOR HIM
ONE THAT SCARRED HER EYE AND KNOCKED HER OUT FOR SEVERAL SONGS SO SHE COULDN’T BE THERE TO HELP
There was no reason, no obligation, nothing but her love and affection for him that drew her to take that punishment from Zeus.
There is no way, after everything, she’s asking him to be her warrior.
She’s literally saying she messed up. She wants to mend their relationship. She wants to do better for him.
He could have said, “I’m not a man who does empathy anymore but we can try” instead of “I have other plans, gonna have to miss this friendship train” because that is an awful diss. Straight painful.
This amazing song did her so dirty and I will never get over it.
Thank goodness for Telemachus. She’ll needs his optimism and joy and willing friendship after the sting from that bite.

Don't worry, that's not pressuring at all, thank you for being kind and for reading my fic! I'm so happy you liked it enough to ask about it :D (unless you’re just curious and didn’t read it which is also cool!)
It is still happening! I have the draft of the first 7 chapters done and a short outline of the rest (12 chapters planned and 25k words written so far!) but a lot has been happening so I haven't gotten around to finishing them yet. I think the best option for this fic right now is to completely finish drafting the entire thing and then post each chapter as I edit them.
I am also working on many different fics, drawings, animatics, for my main blog and fake tweets for my side blog, as well as real life things like physiotherapy. Not even including my disabilities which make it hard to do very much at all, it's a lot to juggle!
I really enjoy doing all these things (except the disabilities which I could go without) and being able to switch between projects whenever one becomes more of a hassle than a joy. This does make it hard to update things, though, which I'm really sorry about! I decided months ago not to post anything unless I'm 100% finished with at least the draft, but that was my first fic so I hadn't learned that lesson yet when I posted it. There are many other half finished fics just like that one that I will also post someday, I just haven’t posted them yet so I don’t make anyone wait this long again.
It will most likely still be months before I can post the new version unfortunately. I have been slowly chipping away at it and trying my best to make sure it's worth the time you all waited when it is finally released!

Honestly I've been in this huge Reddie depression, I try to say as casually as possible.
Like my heart aches for these two to be happy and it's the first time ever a ship has truly effected me. With past ships there's always been some sort of happiness to their ending; their together, or it's implied, or their still friends, or they get to say goodbye, or their both still alive and their ending can still happen later. There is just such a finalness to their sad ending.
It doesn't help that I love both of these characters so much. Also, adding the pain of seeing my spouse (they/them) and me (she/they) in Eddie and Rickie respectfully, I can't help but project ourselves in their situations.
I've always had a little fondness for this ship, nothing too big, for years. Then a month or so ago I casually clicked on a Reddie animatic by Noodle and now here I am! In a pit filled with tears and I swim'n laps! (Really weird phrasing but anything else I tried to come up with kept accidentally being morbid) And you and Sunny are a huge part of that. With your amazing drawings, comics, and fanfictions, I couldn't stand a chance.
My feelings for these cute dummies has even caused me to make a playlist, mixed with songs that remind me of them and with the indescribable queer/yerning feelings one might have.
All this to say, and sorry it's a lot, I saw your post about wanting some more Reddie songs and thought you might like a lot of the songs in my playlist. Also, I've been really needing to type out my feelings about these two, sorry again.

I feel you a lot, esp on being able to relate them to you and your partner, I'm sure that's part of the reason I got into them so much (and I know that's why Sunny did!) and it makes them more relatable and lovable... idk. Trans Eddie is basically me taking a character I relate to and making them Even More Me. The projection is off the charts. There are going to be direct things that happen that are just things that happened to me nearly 1 to 1

Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig
(This has been in the works since September? I only got around to finishing this because of EBG haha. This fic was largely inspired by an Osomatsu-san animatic of ‘Sakura’ by Funky Monkey Babys and ‘Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig’ by December Avenue.

The scent of iron lingers in the air before he sees you.
Leona frowns to himself when you greet him with a smile on your face, eyes roving over your form to ensure there were no injuries.
“Is something wrong, Leona-senpai?” Your voice pulled him out of his thoughts, concern evident on your face as you peered down at him. “You’re making a weird face.”
The brunet clicked his tongue as he turned away, ignoring the giggles that escaped your lips at his expense. “Don’t you have idiots to watch, herbivore?”
“Don’t you have classes to attend, Leona-senpai?” You say in response.
Groaning at the sound of your voice, the beastman turned away in feigned sleep, his tail giving away his annoyance.
“Leona-senpai,” you say with your hands on your hips. “Come on, you don’t want to repeat another year, do you?”
You bend down to pull at the beastman, letting out a squeak in surprise when you find yourself being pulled into his arms instead. “S-s-senpai!”
“Herbivore.” 
You stop struggling at his silent reprimand, reluctantly melting in his embrace as you let out a defeated sigh. “Just this once, okay?” You whisper quietly with eyes closed.
Leona adjusted his hold on your form, ensuring that you would be comfortable as you slept in his arms.
“Just for a while,” he quietly whispered, wishing with all his heart that this moment would never last. “Just for now.”
….
The scent of iron lingers in the air before he sees you.
Leona wrinkles his nose at the sharp metallic scent in the air, grumbling in feigned displeasure as you wrap your arms around his waist in greeting.
“Leona-senpai!”
Ruggie waves at you from the lion’s other side, laughing at his dorm leader’s disgruntled look. “(Y/N)-chan~! Hello, hello!”
“No classes today?” Leona let out a grunt at your question, earning a laugh as you skip to match his long strides. “It’s a serious question!”
Leona quickens his pace enough to stay ahead of you, but still within your reach. “We have a free period today,” he tells you with a smirk curling at his lips. “Ah, but first years have to attend their classes, don’t they?”
Ruggie watches from behind as Leona continues to tease you with a smile on his face, quick to silence his laughter when you attempt to tackle the tall third year.
It was times like this when the hyena could appreciate your presence.
Only you could put a smile on the Savanaclaw dorm leader’s face like this.
….
The scent of iron lingers in the air before he sees you.
He doesn’t have to wonder, this time.
There’s blood on your lips and in your hands. Thick with that familiar metallic scent and red, so very red.
Leona is beside you in minutes, gently pulling away your bloody hands from smearing the red on your face. “How did this happen?” He tightens his grip on your wrist, not enough to hurt you, but tight enough to dissuade you from pulling away from him.
“I--” you cough harshly, expelling more blood as you do. “I’m okay, really!”
“Leona-senpai,” Jack’s voice interrupts from the side, his ears drooping down, betraying the harsh look on his face.
“What is it?” Leona says with a growl, impatient with the hesitant wolf before him.
“It’s not his fault,” you tell him after giving Jack what you hoped was a reassuring smile. “It’s my fault, really.”
Leona frowns at you in disbelief, his tail swishing agitatedly behind him; the only indication of his current mood.
“I-It’s hard to explain,” you mumble to yourself, your words clear to him despite the low volume. “You don’t have to trouble yourse--”
“Try.” Leona rumbled out.
Jack offers to explain to his dorm leader, willing to brave the storm should you say so. 
“It’s okay,” you tell your fellow first year. “I can-- I can explain.”
And so Jack leaves, tail stiff as he eyes the dark look on his dorm leader’s face, but reassured still with the promise you silently give him with your smile.
“Can--” you hesitantly start. “Can I clean myself first? I-- It’s hard to talk with all the blood…”
....
Leona storms out of the Ramshackle Dorm after you tell him the truth of your condition.
“Magic and I don’t go well together,” you told him over tea and snacks. “Headmaster theorised that because of the lack of magic in me, because of the foreign magic I’ve been exposed to all year, well, it’s taking a toll on me.”
How the magic of Twisted Wonderland was truly twisted, you thought as you watched Leona’s figure leave the grounds on which you had started to call home.
“It’s like an allergic reaction. I had no magic to begin with, no resistance; nothing.”
You had no defense, nothing to your name, and so no protection was offered. It was cruel.
“So it’s killing you,” is his only reply.
You would forever remember the look in Leona’s eyes as he told you what you had feared. It would haunt you, you decided with a shudder.
“Yes, i-it’s killing me.”
The look he’d given you would have made even the strongest and bravest of men falter. 
Sighing to yourself, you busied in cleaning the room. Smiling wryly when you found the dusty remains of the teacup you had offered the proud lion. “Honestly,” you huffed, violently coughing into your fist when your body sensed the magic from the sand.
“Ah…” Crumbling down from beside the couch, you force yourself to ignore the pain in your throat. It would surely pass, is what you tell yourself.
Soon you succumb to the pain, your body deciding to shut down from the onslaught of pain and magic in your system. Sleep overtakes your form as gravity cradles you in its arms.
….
You don’t see neither hide nor hair of the Savanaclaw dorm leader in the following days.
It left you feeling empty, whenever you’d see yellow vests pass from the corner of your eye. You knew he wasn’t the only one to forgo the blazer, but still you couldn’t help but hope.
Jack did his best to bring you news of the wayward dorm leader, but even then it wasn’t enough. Ace and Deuce did their best, but the chaos they wrought with Grim in tow was too much, and so their interactions with you were heavily restricted. 
Epel often came along with apple pies and the class notes, somedays found him ranting from beside you about his troubles with his own dorm leader. He would go on for hours, checking up on you in between rants before resuming. Rook would come most days, to bring the wandering Monsieur Small Apple back to their dorm. It brought a smile on your face to see the two interact with each other, so Epel swallowed his complaints and allowed the blond hunter to bother him.
As for Sebek… Well, you had always wondered, but now you had your answers. He was like magic. The longer he stayed with you, the weaker you got. It certainly surprised everyone when you collapsed before the young retainer, his panicked shouts alerting both teachers and students alike. That was the last time you saw any Diasomnia students.
The rest of the first years stayed with you when Grim was barred from doing so, he was a magical creature and would only be a detriment to your health. You hated it, that slowly, but surely, you were being isolated.
Time passed slowly for you, until finally, you found yourself quarantined in the room you’d chosen for yourself in Ramshackle, all those months ago.
You were too weak now, to stand and walk on your own.
Crowley would visit, but his visits were so sporadic you often wondered whether it was a hallucination that he came flying from the window, declaring himself your gracious nurse for the day.
“I wonder how Leona-senpai is doing,” you whisper quietly to yourself, on one the days Ruggie came to visit with Jack. “He’s usually sleeping at this hour, isn’t he?”
Ruggie avoids your eyes as he practically shoves the bowl of soup into your hands, laughing as he excuses himself. Jack follows after his senior after you finish your soup.
He’d stayed silent as well, when you asked.
….
He had avoided you for too long, and it had taken its toll on the proud prince. Leona had decided, that day you shared with him the truth, to help you. Even if you were to part from him, at least he knew you were alive and well.
Crowley often brought up how his graciousness continued to search for a way to your home, but Leona found himself doubting the headmaster.
So he took to the library, going as far as to attend the classes he had missed. The bastard hunter eyed him with a knowing look before singing praises his way, it made his skin crawl. Leona hoarded everything he’d learned, locking himself in the laboratories during his free period.
All so he could save you.
It took a long while, but he finally found an answer after one too many discussions with Pomefiore’s vice dorm leader.
If you had no magic to protect yourself from the foreign magic found everywhere, why not slowly introduce magic into your system. The idea came to him during class one day, and Trein was very much displeased when he excused himself by jumping out the window.
Leona rushed to the laboratories then, and may have started a small fire. Crewel threatened to ban him, but that wasn’t important in the end. He had succeeded! And that was enough for him.
“Be prepared, herbivore.” Leona grins with all the confidence of a man emerging victorious from a hard won battle as he makes his way to the Ramshackle dorm.
....
The scent of iron lingers in the air before he sees you.
It isn’t a pretty picture, the one he walks into.
There is too much red on the white sheets of your bed, everything is too clean and yet, there is blood on your bed.
Leona almost attacks the ghosts that haunt the dorm, watching with mounting dread as the three shake their heads at his silent question, hats lowered in their hands to pay their respects.
“She was getting weaker everyday,” the slim ghost tells him, but there is cotton in his ears. “(Y/N) could barely even lift herself, but she tried still.”
“We left her for a while,” the largest ghost continues, ignorant of the cold seeping into Leona’s bones. “For lunch. When we came back, this is how we found her.”
Leona desperately fights the stinging in his eyes, deluding himself into thinking it was the dust from the old dorm. 
You looked so peaceful, if not for the blood on your clothes and sheets, no one would have wondered whether you were asleep or not.
“No one was with her,” the last ghost says, and it is the last straw for the once proud lion. 
Leona sinks down unto his knees, hands clutching at your cold ones like a child clinging to their mother. He doesn’t notice the ghosts leave, doesn’t move from beside your quiet heartbeat as he cries out in pain. 
Everything he did, it all amounted to nothing in the end. Nothing he did would be rewarded. He was a curse; to everyone around him, to you, the one person he loved.
Unbidden, a memory resurfaces to the front of his mind.
It was when you had come to wake him, to try and make him attend his classes. Before everything snowballed down.
He had asked then, what you would do once given the chance to return home.
“Hmm?” Leona grumbled when the sunlight hit his eyes as you moved away. “Well, I don’t know…”
“Hah? Don’t you miss your family, or something?” 
You playfully gasp at his hypocrisy, laughing out loud when his tail swats at you in displeasure. You tackled the downed brunet, crying out in surprise when he rolled out of the way and scooped you up before you could fall.
He should have paid better attention.
“I’m waiting for something,” you told him when you left the gardens. “Or well, I’m waiting for someone…”
He should have listened.
Leona cries into the bloodied sheets of your bed, hands holding tight to yours, wishing with all his heart, that this moment never came to pass.
If only he had stayed by your side, then maybe he could have seen you smile, one last time.

I just saw the feeling good animatic and it was so ldbusnusklsijs aaaaaah i loved it AND THAT REVEAL WAS SOOOO GOOOD I TOTALLY DIDNT SEE IT COMING but it kinda makes sense lmao since uraraka didn't get those hero points from that whole robot situation in the entrance exam she didnt make it into the hero course and bla bla i stan a BIG BRAINED amazing artist i cant wait to see more of this au also deku is such a little shit i love him and his dinamic with bakugou (lowkey want for bkdk to happen)

In canon, Uraraka actually got a lot of “villain points” during an entrance exam so I think she would get into UA anyway BUUUUUT I’m not going to say what happened to her in my AU for now  (¬‿¬ )  part 4 will explain I love Deku being a little intelligent smug gremlin so I really thrive on you loving him as well :3 Plus Bakudeku and their  ̶s̶e̶x̶u̶a̶l̶ tension  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) And lmao, a big brain, I wish had that  ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ But my one braincell does what it can xP

Some variant of this sketch originally had to become the very final scene for the animatic explaining how Detectives found out about Clip's hideout.
But it seemed to be too silly, I didn't really like it and had no time for redrawing so ended up leaving it out. Anyway, you can have it now xD

So, ever since I heard The Scorpion and the Frog I was obsessed with it and the idea of animatic :) But I've never done anything like this before and I'm not really good at drawing so I've decided to put an extra effort into preparation stage.
And here's my very first sketch where I was trying to understand how big is going to be the high deference between Eclipse and Vigilante
I've used Storyboarder to model the room where Vigilante was held- or at least how I imagined it xD Here are some test shots, the layout of the room and 3d model refs I did for scenes to make my life easier.

I had *so many* references I don't think I ever used that amount before in my whole life. Basically almost every scene had at least 3 refs to back it up. Photos of random people or my own, 3d models, Plum's lovely art. I've use it *all* Even some memes xD
The main goal was to try showing that dangerous dynamic between Vigilante and Eclipse via song and I'm extremely glad I actually managed to get it done somehow with expressions and poses :)
I didn't feel comfortable enough drawing blood or bruises so I had to scrap the idea of one scene where Clip would purposefully give Y/N a little scratch on a cheek with his sunray. Some other left out ideas were Clip playing with Y/N's ribbon and bells and gesturing at them with his cigar, almost touching their face with it but never actually closing the distance (he's a big show off after all)
Also I'm devastated I couldn't add a little waltz scene despite how badly I wanted to ;-; The height difference and the whole dancing thing would be just too much for me to try figuring out the science behind it.

<3!! @justaduckarts Eclipse's smiles! That was my very favorite thing to draw <3 Oddly enough the main inspiration here was Black Hat from Villainous xD Also somewhere around that time I saw rottmnt the movie and really liked the way they draw mouths there. Sharp and confident, definitely suiting for Clip :)
And the scene where Clip's eyes change was straight up painful to do xD
I knew Clip had to look scary at this one and the colour change of his optics *had* to happen but the whole pose and reveal of his last appearance had to be *impactful*. I honestly was slaying this scene for 2-3 days. Here are some of my very last sketches.

So, I’ve just come up with an idea for The Owl House Fandom 🧙‍♀️🦉🔮🌟…..

So with the premiere of the 1st part of season 3 of The Owl House quickly approaching (airing way late in my time where I’m from - on a Sunday no less) I figured I propose a suggestion to the fandom… By giving thanks to Dana and the crew for all their hard work, especially on this season!
And while I’m not sure if anybody else has or is going to use this idea before me (I mean it was worth the shot! I feel like just about any fandom would do that), I was thinking about doing some sort of massive fandom big bang; making and creating fanart, animations/animatics, AMV’s/edits etc You name it!
The idea came to mind after lurking around in the Amphibia fandom (I like to check into the fandom every once in a while) then I remembered that since Amphibia ended months ago, the fandom would joke around making tweets about season 4 happening and creating fake promos and fan made episode animations/animatics/storyboards for like a couple of weeks (even creator Matt Braly liked some of the stuff he saw from fans and had to check in with the fandom about it - You had to be there!)
I like to think of this as a tribute to Dana and her crew for giving us the most of season 3 has to offer, and while we’re concerned of how the final season would play out as a 3 part near hour long special, I trust Dana and her team would be able to fill in everything that’s needed, flaws and all.
As a fandom, I think we can all come to an agreement that since Disney decided to be a bunch of assholes for cutting the rest of season 3 and cancelling the show entirely for not “fitting into their brand” (whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean?!) that they’re now officially on - what I like to call - “Massive Corporate Entertainment Company Hit List for Screwing Animation Fans Over” officially considering Disney public enemy No. 1 (but now that spot seems to go over to Warner Brothers/Discovery, after certain recent events - also don’t ask me on the title, I just randomly made that on the fly so it was the first thing that popped into my head - sorry if that sounds cringe 😬)
Which is why I think starting around the day of the premiere for season 3, let’s get the show trending on social media to show tremendous support for the owl crew, cuz lord knows they deserve the love for creating an amazing show after everything they’ve went through with Disney’s higher ups shady ass-hattery that goes on there, the best we can do is support Dana and the team for the hard work, appreciate and make the most of what we have for the final season!
There’s probably a few bits and bobs I felt that are missing (or just the whole idea of some fandom big bang is already somewhat a common thing here and in other fandom spaces IDK) but feel free to share some ideas here! I’d love to see some ideas to shared around this fandom!
Personally, I love seeing fanart, but you know what I wanna see more of? Fan made “episode” animations/animatics/storyboards of season 3, y’know since Disney thought that cutting season 3 was necessary, why not make make some fan made “episodes” to fill in the gaps that would’ve been a full season (especially once the first part is aired and from what I’ve heard we go into a 3 month hiatus until the next part, which oof, I thought the Steven Universe fandom has a rough hiatus, but this 😳) - whether it’s from fan made theories, headcanons or just something that’s canon adjacent - I think it would’ve been really fun and would really mend the hole in the fandom’s heart once the show’s over (honestly I kinda miss the chaotic energy from the fandom when Amphibia ended and I really wanted to have fun with The Owl House, all in good fun!).
I hope this idea sticks to the fandom because I would love for this post to boost up and garner everyone’s interest! Again, if you like this, feel free to share your ideas here!
Also of course, please support the show through legal means through Disney +, or more likely, just pirate the show and give Dana the crew some support and kind messages! Also, don’t share any spoilers/leaks and PLEASE tag them once they’re aired, especially to those that are not in the US!

hey, i uh. i just came back and, the response i got, for that 4-panels, not-even-close-to-a-beginning of an animatic,, i’m just. speechless.

one thing’s for sure, i really, really want to. the entirety of the scene is printed in my head and i see it every time i listen to the song, and it just doesn’t help that the song is also always stuck in my darn head. 
I know the song is like the total opposite of what could be considered shippy but is there hope that the animatic is still gonna be shippy?

Video director Ashley Jones on promo production under lockdown
Ashley Jones moved to London from his native Wales to make it as a musician, but it was as video producer that he would make his mark.  He's been responsible for 50-odd promos for many of the underground music scene's finest, from William D Drake of his childhood cult heroes Cardiacs to Hurtling and Stephen EvEns. Lockdown may have put paid to many a musical plan but it it's not stopped Jones from staying busy, switching - with the aid of his children - to animation and capturing clips using his phone.   Here, he tells us of what got him started, what he's proudest of and what he'd like to do next, if and when life ever returns to normal. Hi Ashley,  how are you coping in the lockdown?  We’ve seen some quite impressive pictures of your new beard on social media…. As a family we’ve coped remarkably well.  We’re lucky to have a garden and we get on annoyingly well.   However, I am now more beard than man and I have no real exit strategy. Your love of rare and fine whisky is also well documented on your channels – we hope you’re not overdoing it! Four years ago I setmyself the goal of becoming a whisky bore in six weeks.  I dramatically overshot.  In 2018, Sue (the bionic Chaos Engineer who works with me on most projects) and I went on a trip to Islay, the Hebridean home of peated whisky.  It was like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I was Augustus Gloop. Making music videos must be difficult in these circumstances.  But we see you’ve managed to produce one for ‘Dustbin Man’  by Stephen EvEns that has surfaced recently.  It’s a mixture of animation and performance, tell us about the process. I normally have a set of rules that I follow when I am making videos.  Lockdown has meant I have had to temporarily abandon some of those. We had been discussing ‘Dustbin Man’ for a while prior to Lockdown.   The song is so relevant to these times that I felt we really should get the video done. https://youtu.be/WpymrHhq85o It crossed my mind that an animation could work.  Apart from anything, animation frees you to use sets and locations that are otherwise unavailable.  We had always wanted to have (singer/guitarist) Stuffy in these scenes and animation allowed us to do this. I did some sketches and created an animatic to show how the video would work. https://youtu.be/2LGOTzENsrE I often shoot little demo videos when I have an idea in mind.  I knew Stuffy would have a phone but not much other video kit.  So I shot my own demo using natural light and my phone to check that the approach and look would work. https://youtu.be/_AYB04WEZug Stuffy did a brilliant job of filming himself which made my life so much easier when I was putting him into the scenes. I got my daughter, Seren, to turn my drawings into images I could animate.  My son, Bryn, is also into animation and I asked him to provide the walk cycles for the binmen. I had booked a week off from my day job to go on holiday to Scotland (obviously) in the first week of April.  Obviously, we couldn’t go so I spent that week in front of the computer working on the video.  I love the moment when things start to coalesce from a bunch of bits into a coherent whole. Stuffy and I chatted using Facebook’s video calling so that we were able to bounce ideas around.  But it was pretty quick given the nature of the work.  It’s a great song, and “Employee of the Month” is a great album. I did the gatefold photo for the album artwork and I was thrilled to receive a copy of the LP last week.  I am hugely proud to be a part of it. You’ve got another animation – or at least part animation – in the pipeline with Micko & The Mellotronics’ ‘Psychedelic Shirt’.  Without too many spoilers, tell us about what’s involved. Micko and I have worked together several times now.  We were initially introduced by Mikey Georgeson from David Devant & His Spirit Wife.  The first time we met was in a pub in Kentish Town where we talked about our common love of Florian Schneider and Gibson Les Pauls. Micko is very much a storyteller and he has a strong commitment to narrative.  We are working with an artist to create the artwork for the video and I am going to be using some new tools to create the animation.  I am hoping this will make the animation more dynamic and musical.  I am still working on the animatic; working with a defined narrative makes this phase a bit more work, but I think it’s going to pay off. You seem to strike up relationships with certain artists and work on a series of promos.  That must give you a certain freedom to experiment…. I’m not in it for the money.  Thank God.  There are two things I love about making music videos.  Firstly, the initial conversations about what the video is going to be.  Some of my videos have been 100% my idea.  Some have been (nearly) 100% the artist’s.  My favourite ones are the 50/50 ones where we thrash ideas around in a pub or café.  Preferably the former. The other thing I relish is the problem solving during the filming and editing:  “How am I going to make this happen?”  I love those moments when the seemingly impossible becomes reality. Tell us a bit about yourself – your background, first musical loves and what made you pick up a camera. Short version:  Moved to London to play in a band.  Never quite made it.  Got my first real camera when my kids were little and mainly took pictures of them. Musical loves:  Early Adam and the Ants, Sex Pistols, early Human League, Fad Gadget, Kraftwerk.  The centre of my musical universe since about 1989 is Cardiacs.  Everything stems from there since then. We know you also work as a photographer – which came first? I made some music videos for my own band in the late 90s.  From around 2010 I started taking photos at gigs; I’d also done some studio photography with my brother-in-law, Lann.  We started using “The Chaos Engineers” name back then for the studio work. But I got into making music videos all because of one evening.  Roastfest was a gig put on by Kavus Torabi’s “Believer’s Roast” label at the Camden Unicorn on November 12, 2011. I took photos of almost everyone playing.  One of the bands was ThumperMonkey.  They liked the photos and I offered to do a studio shoot for them.  We did that shoot and it went well.  Michael Woodman, the lead singer and guitarist, is also very interested in film-making.  Mike had offered to make a video for Knifeworld, Kavus’s band.  He asked if I would like to be involved and nothing was ever the same after that.  I have worked with pretty much everyone who played at Roastfest at some point.  Mike is a hugely talented man and someone with whom I love working. Any videos you remember seeing that made you think ‘I want to do that!’? Cardiacs' “Tarred and Feathered” was shot by the people who made The Tube but it was my great audio-visual epiphany.  My sister remembers me seeing it when it was live on telly and it immediately and permanently blew my mind. https://youtu.be/NVjSycDJatc Tim Smith is a brilliant video director as well as my favourite music maker.  I have to use that broad term because he does it all. I love Anton Corbijn’s photography and videos.  I also think that Bjork’s videos are astonishing.  I mentioned my rules earlier.  One of these is that the artist has to be at the heart of the video.  Madness wrote the book when it comes to “video as vehicle to define the band’s identity”.  I want my videos to showcase the artist – because that’s what all my favourite videos do. What was the first promo you shot?  Any memories? The first one I worked on was for Thumpermonkey’s “Wheezy Boy” which Mike Woodman directed and edited.  All my footage was overexposed, but Mike never complained.  I remember being stunned by how brilliant the actors were.  I have only worked with actors a few times; that was the first. Tell us a bit about who else you’ve worked with…   I was a huge Stump fan in the 80s and am extremely proud of the video for “Rubberised” that I did for Prescott, Kev Hopper’s band.  I think it’s the most technically innovative thing I have done. Looking at my YouTube playlist, I am shocked to learn that I have made more than fifty videos. I’ve loved pretty much all the songs and artists I have worked with:   Hurtling, Simon Love, Knifeworld, Awooga, The Fierce And The Dead, Arch Garrison and Cesarians. I have also collaborated heavily with the brilliant Richard Larcombe on his Lost Crowns project. You’ve worked with William D Drake I believe….  Are you part of the Cardiacs fan cult or was this strange world new to you? I really am part of the cult.   I have compered at the last two Alphabet Business Conventions.  Which means I talk in a loud voice before the bands come on and quietly stand next to Tim Smith at the side of the stage for most of the show. They played Distant Buzzing on a big screen at the ABC months before it was released and it was my most “goosebumps” moment when it was shown.  Hugely exciting. I saw Cardiacs loads of times and still miss the transcendental experience of throwing my hands in the air to the strains of Big Ship. I also love Bill’s work and my personal favourite Cardiacs material is the stuff from Bill’s time in the band. You’ve also shot with a few well known comic actors – Kevin Eldon, Paul Putner, Suzy Kane….    That must have been fun. Micko has an amazing capacity for getting great people to work with him.  So it’s flattering that he also works with me.  Kevin, Paul and Suzy were all delightful to work with and it’s been fantastic to have the chance. https://youtu.be/_5iswf8GG6o When we shot Schmescos with Kevin, Micko’s brother, Hollywood director Wash Westmoreland, was standing next to me.  Wash was also utterly charming.  It was an amazing few hours and I felt like pinching myself.  I still do. You have a penchant for the Hitchcock-style cameo too – is that a deal breaker?! I have tried to get myself in lots of the videos.  My kids particularly like my cameo in Distant Buzzing.  I am there at 3:05.  I’d like to be in all of them but sometimes I forget because I am so busy on shoot days. Any other highlights of your career we’ve missed out – It was fantastic to be at RAK studios in November when The Spammed recorded their version of Get It On.  It was six weeks before Neil Innes’s sad passing and it was wonderful to meet such a kind, talented and funny man.  I took mostly candid stills of conversations between the band and the also-amazing Tony Visconti.  Again – I was pinching myself for weeks. Finally, if you could pick one artist alive or dead you wish you could or could have worked with, who would it be? I would love to have worked with Fad Gadget/Frank Tovey.  I met him – and this sounds like a pattern – six weeks before he died.  I love his work and would love to have worked with him.  And always, always, always Cardiacs’ Tim Smith.  But I don’t know what I would bring to the party with Tim because he does everything so brilliantly himself.

"FRNK" • 3 months ago... I saw @frankieromustdie & The Patience play (@bunkhouse_saloon) to what couldn't have been more than 50 people. Naturally, I anticipated the show to be just as good as my very first, when I saw them play in L.A. (@theroubadour) to a 500+ crowd, nearly 2 years prior. What I hadn't expected was the show to be unforgettably intimate. I had the opportunity to give my artwork to the person who has endlessly been my greatest artistic influence &, in exchange, have him write a script of one of my favorite lyrics of his. As of 3 weeks ago, I got that script written around my left wrist, /for life/. The lyrics read: "My heart breaks for the artist..." THE FILM: Trejur (pronounced “treasure”) is a hand-made, fantasy, stop motion animated short film by the filmmaker, Thomas Kim. The story questions how desperation can transform us into something we never thought ourselves to be. We see this though a real life woman mourning the death of her grandmother. Transitioning through the medium of stop motion, she shows us the time when her grandmother gave her a toy in hopes of making her happier after their loved grandfather had passed. Her grandmother, with no means of support for her grandchild, had begun to leave the house every day and return with more and more toys to make her happy. Of course, this “over-accretion” made her resent what her grandmother brought, but it was too late; her grandmother had fallen into obsession. She now collected lost toys because it made herself happy, and soon their house was quite literally buried under a mountain of toys…

SO… Backing me on Kickstarter will provide for costly things like a 3D printer to quickly mass produce miniature toys, an amazing film composer to accompany the emotional performance of the puppets, festival fees to launch my career, and MANY MANY MORE. HISTORY: The medium of Stop Motion is incredibly labor intensive. Every prop, every color, every decision needs to be made by my hand. Everything in the visuals need to reinforce and drive the story because nothing is “free” as it is in live action. The puppets are moved frame by frame, 15-30 frames a second. For around ten minutes of footage, you’re looking at a few thousand hours. And all of this I have done myself so far. 2 hours a school day, 8 hours a weekend, for over 400 days now. 
WHY: This life-consuming project was initiated well over a year ago when I decided to take out $2000 from my pockets to tell this story. I do what I do because to me, storytelling is an instrument I use to explore the human condition. Film is my canvas, and a story is my paintbrush. Yes it might sound somewhat cliche, but this idea is something we all have wrestled with no matter the kind of career. It is universal. And so, your pledges will provide me with the opportunity to continue that exploration of psychology of emotions and the different perspectives of truth. (that, and it’ll help kickstart my career) 🙂

The blanket has wires inside so that it can hold its position and be animatable.
I had to get creative! Those colored pencils are actually cut toothpicks, and the wooden plank floor are popsicle sticks with their ends sawed off. Due to the lack of money, I am held back by what I can’t do. I even made my slider out of Ikea door handles and a few dishwasher cart wheels!

1/6th scale miniature toys
The story calls for thousands of these toys. I’ve made about a hundred so far, but due to time constrains I’ve decided to 3D print the rest. HOWEVER, they’ll be hand-painted to match closer to the raw aesthetic of the film. Part of the budget is for a 3D printer + supplies to mass produce these miniature props.

Above is the progression from concept designs to wood-carved stop motion puppets.
THE EYES: THE EYES ARE JUST TRACKING POINTS. You may have seen in the video above freaky, Coraline-esque eyes and mouths. They’re just tracking points to be REPLACED INTO REAL HUMAN eyes and mouths. Eyes are the windows to the soul! Not only will this add a more “emotional” quality to the puppets, it’ll allow for a coherent transition from live action real actors to stop motion puppets since they are supposed to be the same individual. The other short film, “Madame Tutli-Putli” is a fantastic example of what it’ll look like (Go on, I’ll give you permission you to leave this page and look up “Madame Tutli-Putli images” if you promise to come back). The eyes will be pinpoint seamless. All the while, they’ll have that slightly unsettling eerie feeling from being so cussing realistic!
THE RIGS: All the little metal arms holding the puppets in the video will be cleaned up and removed. They are used to support the puppets when they cannot support their weight such as when they jump.

All the walls and floors can be broken down by quadrants so I can pop up inside and animate.
STORY STYLE: The film is combination of some live action but mostly stop motion animation in a ~12 minute runtime. Imagine a combination of Miyazaki’s elements of mysterious fantasy blended with the more dark, heavy, and human themes of modern live action films. Interesting!

Most of the film takes place inside this old house. The walls are built from insulation foam, the staircase from foam board, and the door hinges from hot wheel toy car axles. Everything will be shot in camera to achieve the most realistic and “texturized” environment.

   TIME VS MONEY (AN EXPLANATION): In the film industry, there is a direct correlation between time and money. Time IS money. The more money, the less time it’ll take to complete a film and vice versa. That’s why huge blockbuster movies are able to finish within a year; their budget is insurmountable. However on the other hand, the more time you have, the less money you need. I’ve been spending the past year working to make this film look expensive, but with almost no budget. At this rate, without funding, I expect to finish by the time I graduate school in 3 years. But if this campaign is successful, if the level of money increases, then the level of time needed will decrease exponentially.

 You might’ve noticed in the video that my lights are on top of stacked boxes… I have only one borrowed light stand so I have to carefully balance things like lights, reflectors, or bounce cards on boxes, chairs, and books. All the “sliding” shots in the video were made by ikea door handles and dishwasher cart wheels. Having the budget to acquire “luxuries” like light stands or sliders would save massive amounts of time.
I’m asking for $4000 to finish the film with a bang, and every dollar will have its purpose. The money will be specifically dedicated to this film only; none of it will fund my morning coffee. The completion of this project is my sole objective, and whatever you can give will be appreciatively used to breathe life into that ambition.

  Final storyboards and set layouts and designs
STORYBOARDS: Last Summer, I spent 8 hours a day everyday for a month at a storyboarding class. (Storyboarding is pre-visualizing a film by drawing out every shot) It’s impossible to “master” the craft of storyboarding in that little time, but those classes did help me “free up” my hand. They taught me how to swiftly transfer my thoughts to paper without the barrier of a “slow” hand. From there, I locked myself up in my room for another month. I storyboarded and sto-RE-boarded over 30 times until I landed on my final boards as you see in the first picture above. Because there is no dialogue in the short film, I opted to build the story without a script and only a set of storyboards on flashcards. Each flashcard on my wall has a description on the back explaining the emotional performance needed in the puppet characters so that I can bring that into my animation.
Second takes are rare in stop motion because each second of footage takes days if you account pre-production. Therefore, all the shots need to be timed and locked down through storyboards before production begins.
PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE SCHEDULE:

Above is the proposed schedule. There’s one common mistake in filmmaking; we always seem to underestimate the time it’ll take to produce something. With so many possibilities for accidents, reaching a perfect deadline is madness. Despite the risks, I’m willing to put in the extra hours and the extra money from my own pocket if it means finishing this project by the projected schedule. Have no fear!
