As a grown ass adult who found a home in Heartstopper, I sometimes wonder what my life would’ve been like if this show/the comics existed 20 years ago.
I’m so thankful we all have it now. Amazing that even at my age, I’m healing and being confident in my bisexuality.
Thanks @chronicintrovert 🩷

I think one of my favourite things about Alice Oseman and her work is that she does a perfect job of making every teenager feel heard and represented. Throughout the osemanverse, she has managed to capture the essence of all kinds of social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. On top of that, her characters all have a certain sense of relatability. for example, characters like Georgia Warr and Angel Rahimi - they really are just seemingly "normal" teenage girls, and yet, alice still manages to create an exciting and unique plot with these characters in the centre of it all. Along with that, she also represents mental health struggles in most, if not all of her work without making it the entire plot, which can help to educate a diverse range of people about certain struggles, while still keeping the integrity of the charicter. For example, Charlie Spring. Several types of mental health struggles are represented through Charlie's journey, and yet it doesn't become his entire legacy.
She's probably one of the best writers of this generation.

been thinking a lot about heartstopper recently (i mean always but this thing recently) and how elle’s painting at the here and queer art exhibition is a more … put together ? version of what tao creates in season 1 (that he shows elle in the art room during sports day)
i just think the friendship that group has cultivated is one that is so important for all of them that we see the theme’s threads through the seasons and i hope that continues in s3!!

Fear is normal and is expected,
all your emotions be well respected.
Close your eyes now and then clear your mind,
To yourself, now my love, be kind.
Like a river feeling flows,
good and bad, downstream it goes.
If you find your fear is strong,
let it pass, and move along.
Remember what it is I've told you,
till within my arms I hold you.
Repeat the mantra in your mind,
it goes beyond, "to yourself be kind."
"I call for peace from unholy clout,
power within, power without."
Once again, repeated clear,
like a spell, for you my dear,
"Power within, power without,
strength comes from the absence of doubt.
In through the heart, out through the mind,
fear will no longer make me blind.
Blood stains my teeth, blight fills my eyes,
I wither and let all my earthly fears die."

Isaac being ace and/or aro is so important to so many people and i’m actually so happy that Alice went that direction. i’m ngl i was confused with the James bit at first, but seeing him realise that he wasn’t “like everyone else” and then slowing learning that he didn’t HAVE to be. my little heart can’t take it.
it’s so important that we have this representation, not just for the people who identify as aroace (but YES that’s definitely a thing we need for them) but also for the people who might not understand and need to see that “hey, there’s more than just this this and this.” so many queer kids are going to see themselves in Issac and I think thats absolutely wonderful.
Also. Elles new friends. Slay. Showing us that people who aren’t cis come in all shapes and sizes, and that you don’t have to fit in one box. and the disabled rep with Felix? slay. absolutely wonderful.
queer is a word that encapsulates so many different people of different backgrounds, races, ages, genders, identities, shapes and sizes. and it’s important that we have that representation in the media.
so thank you to Alice for giving us such a wide variety to learn from and see ourselves in.

Can anybody please take away this emptiness? I felt like this after S2 came out and initially it’s wonderful, it’s this feeling of joy and love and everything this series makes me feel, and then after a few rewatches it turns into pure emptiness because I’ve felt so much in such a short time (while watching the show) and then that all vanishes and leaves a huge hole in my heart and in my soul. I miss them so much, and I need to hug them so badly. I won’t be able to stop thinking about them again for months now.

i cried.
i laughed.
i cried and laughed at the same time.
hands down, the best season. they did so well, stayed as true to the comic as they could and honestly some of the best performances from that cast. if i could give kit and joe a standing ovation i would. it's rare to really truly love every single episode of a season but i really did. it's a rough season but not negatively, it handles mental illness in a way that is impactful without leaving lasting damage. every single relationship had their time to shine and it was truly beautiful.

This..this is exactly what comes with figuring out your sexuality.
In the process of figuring out who you are, you can’t help but wonder what other things you can realise about yourself. Things you never knew before.
With this waking up, you wake up other things. You realise what’s good for you and what’s not and start second guessing everything in your life - including who you hangout with and your behaviour.
While you’re still in the “figuring out” phase, you don’t know how to behave, who you are, who you should be with, what’s good for you, because whatever you felt that you knew about yourself is wrong and you really don’t know who you are anymore.
I’m so happy to see that Nick Nelson has someone to talk to about this who knows exactly how he feels, but there are so many people around the world who feel like that and feel like they are alone, including myself (even though they have their friends but don’t feel comfortable sharing all these stuff) and end up distancing themselves.
Here is where the importance of representation comes along. Seeing our thoughts and feelings being portrayed and displayed exactly how they are in a screen, makes us feel seen and understood. This chapter that I will hopefully see one day on my tv, made me tear up because it showed exactly how it really is.
Alice Oseman, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
