Originally, this was just supposed to be a splatoon picture, but then I remembered that the Wii U was more than just Splatoon for me

I was even able to play my first Zelda(Windwaker) on there! as well, as finally play ocarina and twilight, princess 

It may not have been the best console, but it holds a lot of really good memories for me and those silly squid kids making me mentally ill was one of them 💕💕🦑

I made this one too before the other one but I initially didn’t think it was going to be enough, looking back at it now I do like it

yuuji cannot use a chair to save his life

Sukuna was sitting on the floor, his upper arms resting on the couch behind him. His head was tilted to the side as it rested on his fist, and he lazily looked at the screen in front of him.

Yuuji was playing a video game, a "shooter game" with many colors and sounds that looked more like the mess the brat watched on his phone rather than anything coherent. Trying to follow along made Sukuna's head spin but there were a few things that were easy to catch on.

Yuuji's character exploded into a colored puddle, and without missing a beat Sukuna laughed at him. "You suck at this," he added.

Yuuji turned to glare at him, straining his neck while doing so, "I haven't played in months and the other team has a sniper, so if I don't try to move up we're never getting back mid."

He turned back at the sound of his character respawning, "And my team only has short to mid-range weapons so we're at a disadvantage here."

Sukuna couldn't be bothered to understand what any of that meant. "I'm only hearing excuses. If you were actually good at this game of yours you wouldn't need teammates to win."

"It's a multiplier game, having teammates is the whole POINT!" He screamed the last word as he narrowly evaded an attack that would have surely got him killed again, exploding his opponent in the process. His momentary glee was quickly crushed as his character also exploded for seemingly no reason.

Sukuna didn't try to hide his chuckles while the young man anxiously looked at the map while respawning. The match ended before he could get onto the field again.

Despite the general chaos of the game Sukuna only needed one look to know the results. He smiled with all his teeth, poking at Yuuji's temple with his free hand, "Maybe you should give up for now. What is it? The fifth loss in a row?"

"Oh, shut up," he fell back, landing on Sukuna's chest, "I just need to shake the rust off," he closed his eyes for a moment, knowing how to queue for another match without looking.

Sukuna huffed fondly, "You've been saying that for the past 30 minutes, brat."

Yuuji didn't add anything, only pouting a little. He made his character jump up and down with the hand he still had on the controller. Sukuna tightened the arms he had warped around Yuuji's waist, filling the gap until the younger man sat back up for the next match.

Yuuji was on his phone, checking over his social medias, laughing at memes and catching up with the tea of strangers online while sending out anything interesting to his friends

What had started out as him sitting beside Sukuna was now him halfway over the other man's laps, his upper back and neck held on a massive arm and hand.

Sukuna was reading old history books, saying he wanted to "catch up" to what happened while he was sealed. One time he mentioned to Yuuji how lacking historical records felt compared to the reality of life during his time, but that didn't stop him from reading them; in fact having a basis to compare how things were when he was still alive compared to what was recorded granted him a far better understanding of other recordings, according to him.

Yuuji didn't really get why he'd spend so much time reading from the source when there were so many videos online detailing their country's history. He had provided Sukuna with a phone for that reason but he only used it for 2 weeks before permanently retiring it to a drawer saying that "it was no wonder the brat was so stupid with the amount of trash accessible through that thing”.

Not what Yuuji had expected when Sukuna had spent those 2 weeks with an average of 12 hours of daily screentime, but hey.

While he was scrolling, Yuuji came across something that made him grin. "Hey, old man!"

Sukuna turned one eye to look at him which was enough acknowledgement for Yuuji, "Look at this," he turned his phone to him.

A picture of an adult tiger lying on its side with a cub pawing at its face was shoved into Sukuna's vision. "It's us."

Yuuji was grinning from ear to ear, giggling to himself. He took back his phone after receiving a hum of acknowledgement and they both resumed their respective activity.

Once Yuuji was fully focused on his screen again, Sukuna allowed himself to smile.

"Are you done showing off?" Yuuji asked annoyed. As his answer, Sukuna pushed back, going from doing push-ups on one hand to one finger and it only pissed off Yuuji even more.

Originally Yuuji was simply working out a little and was joined by Sukuna who not only matched Yuuji's moves but also made a point of one-upping him at every turn.

Yuuji watched from the side as Sukuna finished his set of 1 finger push-ups, wholly unimpressed as he was pretty sure he could do the same.

He simply knew that Sukuna would one-up him again somehow and he didn't want his light work-out session to turn into their usual competitions.

"Is that all you got brat?" Sukuna was smiling with all his teeth, still holding a perfect plank position, "Was such a simple move enough to scar you into surrendering?"

Well, Yuuji couldn't let that slide. "I just think that this was way too easy for you."

Yuuji walked closer and got on Sukuna's back, sitting in the middle of it. He knew that a man who could carry entire buildings wouldn't be bothered by his weight, but he was still annoyed by the fact that the other did not budge. Not even breaking a sweat.

"Is that it?" Sukuna changed the arm holding him and started another set. "This is still a lightwork brat. Unless you also want me to sit on your back as well to see if you can match the strength of a single one of my arms?"

"I can carry you pretty easily you know that?" Yuuji added with a frown.

"I'd love to see this," he added mockingly which only made Yuuji angrier.

The older man finished his set. A bit passed and he eventually laid down on floor, Yuuji still on his back.

"Hey what are you doing now?"

"Given how comfortable you seem up there I have decided to claim victory this time and let you enjoy yourself. How benevolent of me, I know."

Determined not to leave this as a loss, Yuuji got up and immediately deadlifted Sukuna off the ground.

Most beds weren't comfortable to Sukuna, made in sizes too small for his bulk and extra limbs, yet sometimes he'd ditch the massive one in his room to sleep in Yuuji's.

And what could Yuuji do if he was tired as well? With Sukuna lying on his back, arms splayed open and legs dangling off the edge, there wasn't that much place left for him to sleep on.

Yuuji crawled up the bed and laid directly on Sukuna's chest, hair tickling the bigger man's chin. He wrapped his arms around the other's neck while 2 hands placed themselves on the small of his back. 'For stability' they both thought.

Like this they both drifted to sleep, hearts close to one another and beating in sync to a slow and steady rhythm.

On some day they'll go picnicking together, as if they weren't spending enough time with one another.

They ate, they talked, then they both fell silent, a comfortable sensation covering them both as they simply enjoyed each other's presence as well as the nature around them.

Sukuna's head was laid on Yuuji's laps. Gentle fingers ran through his hair and massaged his scalp; the sun kept them warm and a soft breeze rustled the leaves of the trees around them.

Yuuji had already zoned out, moving his hands automatically in a way that felt right to him, whereas Sukuna had started to drift off to sleep.

Goodbye Wii U and goodbye DS servers

You gave us so much, Nintendo was my childhood.

They're slowly shutting down servers.

Ultra sun and moon are closed as of 8:30 Splatoon closes in 20 minutes.

I don't know much of others.

Nintendo has been a large part of my childhood

Especially the Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo DS's particular the DSi models.

Thank you for my childhood, Wii, Wii u, and ds, Nintendo should have done smth to celebrate the end of the servers.

I will miss Splatoon 1. I will miss seeing callie and marie tell us the news.

Goodbye to a large part of mine and others childhood.

Thank You Splatoon 1!

I didn't play it until near the end of 2015, I thought it was a good game, then I spent more time on it, and I really like it! It got me into the series more, I like the story lores, I've watched YouTubers play Splatoon 1, and I got more excited when they showed Splatoon 2!

Sad that the Wii U and 3DS online service is ending soon. I feel like most people who are started at splat2 or 3 are gonna miss the experience of the first game! There are other ways to play online like Pretendo. But officially this is the end of Splatoon 1!

To commemorate the official end of Splatoon 1 I drew My Avatar in Splatoon 1 and I like how it turns out!

keeps trying to get hippo to try different types of soda. hippo tried one once and nearly passed out from the amount of sugar. needless to say, it was funny and a little scary trying to explain it to passerby

soda is one of the few people that knows about kaiser's berliner partying days. its something kaiser likes to keep secret, seeing as he feels like he has a ''reputation to protect''. it did help that soda's a very gregarious guy in general though, he just has a certain energy ab him that makes people wanna confess things to him.

in general, soda knows how to keep secrets really well, especially if he spills anything about the russian government, the consequences might be dire…

speaking of the russian government, his mother is a scientist who originally created soda in a lab as an assignment to create the ultimate fighting machine. as such, she isn't allowed to have full custody of her son, as he partially belongs to the government lab. Poor lady…

all of soda's family and acquaintances are nicknamed after soda. He has a girlfriend named cola (credit to mabs for that idea), his mother is nicknamed popuschka, and he calls his headscientist dr pepper.

like ive said before, he learns english from macho and disco, and often gets words mixed up. one time he called macho man ''brogus'' and macho absolutely hated it.

has a tendency to underestimate his strength a little. if you make him laugh particularly hard, he'll slap you on the back and you'll likely end up w/ a fractured spine. (exaggarated obviously, but it WILL hurt)

hangs around a lot w/ the other two nicest guys of the WVBA, them being disco kid and bear hugger. disco refers to their squad as the ''turntable trio'', as they all like to dance. ms bear makes him feel at home as well, but the squirrell freaks him out a little. also shares a sweet tooth w/ hugger so theres that too hehe.

aside from soda, total sucker for certain russian desserts, especially medovik and pastila.

comes from a rich family. his ma is a singer and his dad a retired athlete

along w/ a mansion, has a HUGE ranch where cows n bulls roam, this is how he became inspired to name himself bald bull.

quite the introverted guy, and doesnt socialize much outside of his own circuit. He is quite chummy with Sandman and Soda though. One time, he offered Soda a turkish delight , and the rest is history. He also relates a lot to sandman due to both having issues w/ quick irritability.

the only other person outside the world circuit that bull interacts with is disco kid, mainly thanks to the fact him and soda are acquinted. Disco gave bull a rly nice outlet for his anger issues, namely dancing! Disco one day saw bull roll his fists in the ring, thought ''WOW that guy can really move !!!!'' bc it reminded him of a classic disco dance. he then talked to soda about him and the rest is history :3

Audhd. paparazzi not withstanding, does not manage his symptoms well.

has very mixed feelings on his mom. On one hand, her voice is like sweet nostalgia to him because she always sang him sweet lullabies, but at the other hand she has broken his trust in many ways that he feels cant be repaired. gets along better w/ his dad tho

used to have a rly sweet school girl type giggle, but his family teased him out of it :(

thinks hes like clark kent whenever he disguises himself as Mask X. the world circuit all know, but the paparazzi is none the wiser somehow. dw nobody in the WVBA will tell :]

interests outside of boxing include arm wrestling, farm animals, and (very rarely) singing. You gotta b real special for him to sing for you. Very private person in general.

A Eulogy for Splatoon 1

We were there at the end, when the rotation changed, and we were finally kicked out.  I let my son have the last dance, as I had said my farewells the night before.  And as I played that night, I realized that I’d forgotten just how much fun the original game was.  It was unpolished and unbalanced, but it was fun.  The specials were so hilariously OP, but it was hard to get mad at them.  And you know, I think that made it better for casuals and newbies as well.  Even if you were unskilled, you could still contribute if you stayed alive long enough to build up a special!  Can’t take the meta too seriously if at any time, you're likely to get a Killer Wail big enough to take up the entire screen to your face!

The weapons, too…. Quite a few of them made the Splatoon 3 versions seem positively stunted in comparison.  (Trislosher, my beloved, you had range?!  OH MY PRECIOUS DEATH BUCKET, I MISSED YOU!)

The levels!  Original Mahi Mahi!  Saltspray Rig!  FLANKS FOR DAYS!

Rainmaker!  Oh my gosh, OG rainmaker.  I forgot it shot tornadoes!  And through walls!  It was amazing!  Was it OP?  Well, kind of.  But I think that was a fair trade off for being number one on everyone’s hit-list if you were holding it.  With the (neutered) modern version, it’s all risk and responsibility with no perks.  No one wants to pick up the Rainmaker because it makes you a sitting duck.  You may as well carry a sign saying, “GANK ME!”.

No, no. I don’t want this to turn into just shitting on 3.  But I honestly don’t know how I can go back to it after remembering what we lost.  3 is competitive.  3 is just plain sweaty.

But Splatoon 1?  That was joy.

One final reminiscence.  I have a clear memory of playing Turf War on Mahi Mahi, with my trusy N-Zap 89, and my fave battle tune, Friend List/Shellfie, playing. Jumping onto the raised platforms as the song hits its energetic chiptune riff, ink flying everywhere... yes, that was pure, unadulterated joy.

Goodbye Splatoon

Despite never playing the first game, I'd like to thank it for creating great memories to those who have played. If this game didn't exist, we wouldn't have had amazing Splatubers like ProChara, Vicvillon, Jaymoji, and more! Who knows what I would be posting about right now? All in all, thank you Splatoon.

I always lament how the Vita lacks an extra set of shoulder buttons, it's to me its biggest shortcoming. You can map the back touch pad to inputs to pretend it has L2 and R2 buttons in some games but it doesn't really work very well.

So I was looking at the console the other day wondering how I'd fit an extra set of buttons. Since it's too thing to put them further back like a Dualshock I figured putting them side by side like the ZL and ZR buttons on the New 3DS would work better, but it's just too cramped up there!

All the space is taken up by the 2 shoulder buttons, the cartridge port, the volume and power buttons, and a.... and um.... some port? sitting next to the cart slot?

I've never used this port in my life and it uses up the precious space that could've easily fit L2/R2 buttons so I went online to check what it does and the best answer I get? "Well you can maybe stick your dick in it" WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!!!

Anyways the port was never officially used, there's no known use case for it, and I've heard in some models it doesn't even work properly. What the fuck.

My first experience in realizing *what* Splatoon was happened back when PeanutButterGamer released his review on the game, when Splatoon was “Nintendos Answer to Call of Duty” was how everyone described it because it’s 2016. My actual first experience, just seeing Splatoon, was a ****ing Profasia Gaming all bosses YouTube video, where I was enraptured by what I thought was some forgotten Xbox game I never heard about. Ironic, huh? Then I got the game for my birthday, and I was there for the very first Cats Vs. Dogs Splatfest. I don’t remember the team I chose, but I remember the splatposts, the inbox, the inside jokes, and when Splat Tim was a fresh new meme.

Splatoon was my exposure to the concept of OCs. I remember seeing fan agents, and the green giant squid girl, and other characters people had made not realizing I could make my own character in an already established universe. I thought for a short while that the official names for the “two main characters” the Orange and Blue inklings were ink and some other squid related noun. But then I learned that these were characters people made for themselves, and that I could make characters for myself too. Once I did, I created nigh a dozen characters with their clothings and weapons in my head. I wish I wrote those inklings (and Octolings that were undercover) down.

The fan content was at an all time high, where I could read entire comics just by looking at google images since I didn’t have any social medias yet. YouTube had GMOD animations by LizzieRattcicle, Pooole, Spider, Mister Prawn, and so on. Comic Dubs, Creepy Pastas, anything I could find that I’d watch well into the morning, and sleep all day on a bean bag chair. I’d dream of being at Inkopolis, the raised balcony and massive open area being home to the hundreds angsty fanfictions I read on my phone on long car rides, listening to a single Siivagunner track on repeat for 6 hours all the while. The Living Tombstones song held a tragic chord to me at that time, thinking about what it must’ve been like to live in Inkopolis while watching the stylized music video with the limited cast of characters we had.

While I’ll likely never be as into the series as I was back then, even when Octo Expansion redefined the fandom as we know it, it’s one of the few times I look back on with complete satisfaction for. The Wii U was such an amazing console to be young on, unaware of the constant disappointments people had about the thing while I played Nintendo Land, Tank!Tank!Tank!, Pikmin 3, Sm4sh, Yoshis Wooly World, Mario Maker, Scribblenauts, Windwaker, New Super Mario Brothers U, and of course;

Splatoon.

I’ll likely not get the chance to play it one last time, but I’ll remember it fondly and nostalgically, as the first fandom I found that taught me to make art. Thank you Splatoon
