The popular reputation of Pseudoregalia is hilarious to me because, like, in terms of its mechanics, and in particular in terms of its understanding of the relationship between progression and movement tech, it's basically "what if Super Mario 64 was a metroidvania?", which is something that a very large audience has been demanding for decades, to the extent that it's actually kind of weird that Pseudoregalia is the first notable title to do a really good of tackling that particular premise – yet to the broader community who aren't in tune with trends in game design it's "obviously" just a game that got popular because because you spend the whole time staring at a stacked furry's bare ass, and not one single person who's into the game is interested in disputing this impression.
