Even though I haven’t been able to play this game at the time, I sure envied the ones who could! The absolute fun I’ve heard from others truly makes me happy that I can join along while appreciating how it started!

Thank You Splatoon 1!

I didn't play it until near the end of 2015, I thought it was a good game, then I spent more time on it, and I really like it! It got me into the series more, I like the story lores, I've watched YouTubers play Splatoon 1, and I got more excited when they showed Splatoon 2!

Sad that the Wii U and 3DS online service is ending soon. I feel like most people who are started at splat2 or 3 are gonna miss the experience of the first game! There are other ways to play online like Pretendo. But officially this is the end of Splatoon 1!

To commemorate the official end of Splatoon 1 I drew My Avatar in Splatoon 1 and I like how it turns out!

Splatoon was one of my first WiiU games. I still remember how fresh the game felt back then.

It marked an awkward part of my pre-teenagehood where I was still learning how to mask and connect with people on the internet, but I can't deny how much of an impact it had on me. I avoided the franchise during a big part of my teen years due to how ashamed I felt by my old self.

But then, I came back. And I'm very glad that I did, because it helped me blossom as an artist.

I will never forget my memories of playing the original Splatoon. The stages, the splatfests, the story mode, the art style, my player character... I still remember how fun it was. Seeing how much the franchise has grown brings me so much joy. It's sad to see the online features go, but in the end, we had a good run.

From my twitter to celebrate the first splatoon game. As the internet service for wii U and 3DS was shut down recently.

I still remember when my interest for the first game piqued from the “YOU’RE A KID NOW! YOU’RE A SQUID NOW!” commercial. Especially since it was a very new franchise at the time. Little did I know that the series would blow me away from the characters to the worldbuilding to the story and especially the music. This series had a huge influence on me while growing up and as an artist as well! Its also helped me meet new friends and connect with them over the game! I really wanted to make something that celebrates that. Just a lil thanks to the game that started it all.

Thank you so much Splatoon 1! This series really has come so far! And thank you for all the fun and memories! I look forward to getting disconnected more from the online lobbies of your sequels.

im actually fuckinf sobbing splatoon 1 has been shut down. literlly one of if not my favorite game ever. im prolly gonna play splatoon 1 story mode over and over ngl. going thru the five stages of grief......... im gonna miss u splatoon 1, thank u for being singlehandedly the best game i have ever played.

*Recently the servers for Splatoon 1 on Wii U have finally shut down after almost 10 years. I remember being lined up early in the morning at Game Stop to pick up a copy and a few new released Amiibos.*

The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U online servers shut down tomorrow evening. I have a lot of good memories associated with those consoles, but none of them will beat my memories of Splatoon 1…

Nothing will top the feeling of beating Hero Mode for the first time, learning about the lore, listening to all the cool music, and participating in the Splatfests.

I honestly don’t know where I would be online without Splatoon 1. 😔 I’m really sad to see it go! 😭

Goodnight Splatoon 1's server's and thank you for everything.

I remember seeing the first trailer for Splatoon. At first I wasn't interested at all... a shooter game? Not my style of game play... But then I kept watching and wow... I just got so captivated by what I saw that it was the first game I had ever pre-ordered that wasn't a Pokemon game. I used to do something called the "24 hour challenge" something that no one else but me did because I made it up. I would stay up the full 24 hours for Splatfest for the first handful of Splatfests and play the wholeeeee time. Or at least until my brother wanted to play and I'd take a nap, haha. That stopped once school started up again but those memories of my 24 hour challenges are still ones that I hold close to my heart. My first real Splatoon friend was Nick! We would play the new stages together in recon as soon as they would come out and we were both online. We still talk and I'd still consider him one of my closest friends. Thanks for sticking with me all these years Nick, I appreciate you more than words could ever express. I've made more Splatoon friends over the years and I'm happy to have every single one of you. Here's to the future!
