Gods freaking out over Nico di Angelo [pt.1]

Note: this is set during the Son of Neptune

Hazel,after they freed Thanatos in Alaska,asking about the Doors: What about my brother? Is Nico alive?

Thanatos,realizing that the son of his master and Prince of the Underworld is in Tartarus: Oh shit-

Hazel,gettig anxious: Uhm...Lord Thanatos is everything ok?

Thanatos,starting to freaking out: OH SHIT– What do I do now? Hades will end my immortal life if he ever find out about this.

Frank: Lord Hades doesn't know about his mission-?

Thanatos: NO! HE WILL END ME IF HE KNOW! Fuck,fuck– I have to go now,I'm grateful and all but I'll see you all when you die. Bye.

Frank (and Hazel) watching him fly away: Do you think this is a good sign?

Hazel: If the god of death fear of dying himself,I don't think so. I just hope that my brother is ok...

Frank: I'm sure he will,Nico is a strong and powerful demigod,he will be alright.

Thanatos flying at full divine speed because he needs to go to the Underworld fast: I swear on your father your highness,if you die before I get you out of there your father is going to be really really really pissed at me. And nobody want that. So,for my and your sake,stay alive.

Mewhile Nico in Tartarus,before getting put in a Jar: Why do I feel like someone is hunting me down? Must be the monsters....

Okay but I love the idea that everyone just thinks Nico calls himself the Ghost King as like an emo thing but no, he literally is that. They all find out it’s his actual title little by little in the most unusual situations.

Uh oh, the Hekate cabin summoned the wrong ghosts during a seance and now the spirits are tearing up the place! No worries tho, we have a resident son of Hades, right? Nico walks into the cabin and immediately, the items that were being thrown around like an indoor hurricane all drop to the floor at once. Three little kid ghosts appear in front of Nico with their best smiles as he sighs down on them like “what did I tell you three?” And proceeds to lecture them for the next ten minutes while the Hekate campers watch on struggling to understand what was happening until Nico opens a rift to the underworld and corrals the three through while the kids call “come play with us again, King, or we wouldn’t get bored and come mess with people!” As they disappear into the mists.

Or like Thanatos appears in CHB one day and everyone is freaked cause who died?? Are they all dying?? What’s happening?? But no, he just glides over to Nico and bows respectfully with a “King Nico, a pleasure to see you again. It seems I will need your assistance again with wayward souls I have recently reaped from mortality” and Nico is just sucking a juice box as he nods along to all of this as if it’s another fucking Tuesday. Then he just leaves,, with the God of Death after promising Will to be back by dinner so everyone is like ‘WHAT THE FUCK’ and then there’s like Percy and Annabeth off to the side like ‘imagine having royal duties at 14, couldn’t be me’

No thoughs, head empty, just Will solace trying to calm himself down the night before meeting Hades (God of the dead ,the king of the underworld and his boyfriend's father) praying to any deity that wants to show some Mercy towards him because he's going crazy due to the anxiety

And then Thanatos pops outs of the nothing

For Will's relief he hasn't died yet and Thanatos isn't here to collect his soul, but he's really really confused right now, the death himself heard his prayers and now is here to... Have a talk with him??

turns out that the god in front of him is also Hades son-in-law and chose to give some advise to the new family's addition because he sympathises with the poor guy.

Fanfictions make you a freak. Like how do I explain that I ship Thanatos with Asclepius bc of a Hades and Apollo venture to Tartarus instead of Solangelo fanfic

Underworld siblings bonding about how beautiful death is would be such a nice topic to explore within the context of Thanzag and Anubico and having the goddess of blessed death as their sister(Macaria)

Every other person sees death as an ugly thing, the figure who takes their loved ones away, someone who took some people too early from this world, something that took chances away from people. Same thing with funerals, where people come to say goodbye for the last time to their loved ones, to never see and hear them laugh and enjoy life. But not Nico and Zagreus,

Zagreus thinks death is beautiful, majestic, gorgeous even, despite him dying a couple hundred times, he was head over heels in love with death, and he definitely agrees with people who say death is similar with love, because both looked really handsome and dateable, especially death.

Nico on the other hand was heavily interested in funeral rites and embalming, he finds the idea to preserve a loved one through ways and rituals that vary across the globe and pantheons to be interesting, which led to his encounter with the egyptian god of funeral rites and embalming.

And the pair of brothers, along with their sister, Melinoë, adored their older sister, Macaria, especially Nico, who lived the longest as partly mortal. Macaria showed Nico that even though death can seem cruel, but it can also be blessed and peaceful, such as death of old age, and even heroic deaths since she also helps guide those who died a heroic death to elysium or the Isles of the Blessed

Hades was like 'I like your sister better' and all but does anyone actually acknowledge his emotions on that? Like he let Biance and Nico out of the casino thinking they could finally be happy now that danger was (kinda) gone. He did that only to find Bianca's soul and few days later led by Charon or Thanatos and was probably so upset. Bianca was his favorite (obvi) and seeing her soul definitely made him so upset. He truly loved them like I think he was the only God to stay and have 2 kids with the same person. Telling Nico that he did not live to his expectations was just his way of Greving. + Hades got better in Boo right? So, I'll be the first to this - Hades does not deserve all that hate most people give him. Thats all.

A/N: Heeeeeey everyone! Here is {Wave 2.0.} of Miscellaneous Demigod Headcanons. Had the strength to write some more gods and their demigods for the Misc. Demigod Headcanons and I decided to start off with the most requested god and demigod with a bang! (No seriously, I've been getting so many requests to do Thanatos that I caved just so I could free my ask box). Hope you all enjoy it and thanks for reading! Welcome to the impossible births club like the Athena kids. Thanatos is considered a virgin god. I think it’s not because of chastity or abstaining, but because Thanatos is the god and personification of Death itself; so his interaction with mortals always ends in their passing. Not to mention, being a lieutenant to Hades, he’s usually very busy.  How you are born is up to theory but there are a few, limited, possible ways: a.) Just like Psyche and Eros where the former didn’t know Eros looked like, you do have a mortal parent that Thanatos fell in love with, but Thanatos remained invisible mostly when his eyes fell upon your mortal parent, keeping most of his deathly potency away. However, the whisper of death clings to you and your mortal parent. A curse of death for life and love. b.) You did the whole rebirth thing where you died as a baby or child, and Thanatos took pity on you. He fed you ambrosia and his godly essence with you, before you were allowed to bring back to life when appealing to Hades and Persephone, who allowed you to go back to the world of the living; however, you are a servant and denizen of the Underworld. C.) you were conceived when Thanatos fell in love with a mortal and when they crossed into the Underworld, they were finally to be seen together. However, when Thanatos was chained and the Doors of Death were forced to be kept open, your ‘mortal’ parent left the underworld searching for your godly father to free him. However, your parent was delayed in reaching Thanatos because with life now flowing, you were allowed to form and thus, you were born into the world of the living.

Regardless, you are one of your kind and if ever there are other children of Thanatos, well you’re in the same boat or one of the following listed above.

You have also inherited something from your godly father more than just the normal appearances (i.e. his golden-honey eyes, darker than black hair, his teakwood colour skin), you’ve also inherited his dark wings. Now before you get too excited, these wings do not grow along you in life. Your wings grow alongside you with death.

When you were first born into the world and drew your first breaths, you did not come with fledgling wings sprouting from your back. Your fledging wings sprouted from your back when you experienced death for the first time. Your wings started to sprout and show like tiny buds when you ignorantly crushed ants beneath your feet when you were a child and it was like being stabbed with a needle with your wings breaking through. You cry and the pain only gets worse as your wings grow and grow when you witness and are basked directly from (non-violent) death; whether you experienced death first hand or even hearing your classmate’s relative dying from cancer.

The pain and growth increases depending on the life; from the least to the death of bugs & insects to the worst & most growth with human life. Your wings were inherited from your godly father, the personification of Death. It is only natural that your wings will only grow and be a physical reminder of death itself. Whether your wings, feathered or like a butterfly, are a hue of blue, black, or purple can only be told with time and your journey in life alongside death. The weight of your parentage is constant on your shoulders and back.

 Whether or not you know you are a child of Thanatos from the get-go, you are not exempt from being claimed when you reach Camp. It is a quiet claim but a deafening one. A downturned torch where its glow was dim. Smoke and mist rose around you, and the patch of grass that had once blooming flowers began to wilt and turn brown. If you haven’t had your wings yet or your wings aren’t as prominent, with his claim, your wings grow just slightly, the hue of your wing shining beautifully slightly yet eerie looking.

If you arrived at Camp Half Blood, and whether or not you decide to stay at Camp Half Blood, you are temporarily assigned to the Hypnos Cabin; as much as Thanatos was seen together with his brother Hypnos. While traditionally, you would be assigned to the Hermes cabin, unfortunately you slept like the dead; figuratively and literally which freaked a lot of people. Around the children of Hypnos you fit in a lot better and Clovis advocated your stay with the approval and insistence of his father.

Being the child of Death itself, allows you much of the powers of a child of Hades or something very similar. You can use necromancy, summoning skeletons to your aid in battle and whatnot, but you can’t control death; just because you are the child of Death, doesn’t mean you are exempt from the same laws and limitations as a child of Hades or any mortal at all. You may not be able to shadow-travel, but if you don’t, you can turn yourself invisible much like your godly father. It’s a skill that requires practice, just as much shadow-travel, and how long you can keep it up will depend on you.

Another power of being a child of Death, is you can see someone’s life-essence. Think of it as an aura that radiates how much life they have and what they are. Very useful in telling who is a monster in disguise or seeing someone who is possessing someone who shouldn’t be possessing. On the other hand, there is the inevitable sense of mortality when you see their aura and time dim.

You carry the linger of death you go and those who pass you by, will feel the cold shivering breeze around you. Only a few are not fazed by it, but you mustn’t lose your control,

Being a child of Thanatos is a heavy burden but you must live because what is life without death?

“So that’s how I was born” you finished saying, telling to your present company of how you came to be and how you were a child of Thanatos. The eyes on you were nerve-wracking and your wings fluttered and jittered in unison with your emotions. 

You winced and whispered “sorry” when the tip of your wings almost grazed someone, not that used to having your wings out. It also didn’t help when Thanatos claimed you, they also got bigger so there were things to get used to. You didn’t like having your wings out in public, even around other demigods. Your wings were a constant reminder of your heritage and you wanted to keep it a secret, the truth of the wings where they appear when you’re around death, growing alongside with every life taken. 

“That’s a pretty loaded backstory” blurted out Frank finally and Hazel immediately elbowed him as he winced at his words and pain.

You could help let out a nervous laughter as you responded with,“It sort of is, yeah. In all honesty, I didn’t believe it myself until Hypnos told me in my sleep. Even then, I don’t think I’ll ever wrap my mind around it completely. Not to mention, that there were other demigods like me and there’s a camp of all things.”

“Well, don’t worry about that! We’ll help you get settled in and help you if you have any questions!” said Hazel and you gave a sheepish smile. The daughter of Pluto had arrived with Frank when you all made landfall in Camp Halfblood, Nico expressly relieved that his sister was with him. 

You met Nico first who looked at you and was out of his depth. It wasn’t only after you absorbed the death of a monster, did Nico tell you that Hades had told him about your existence and told him to find you, and in accordance take you to Camp. Which camp he didn’t specify but after some debate, it was better to take you to Camp Halfblood because your presence at Camp Jupiter wouldn’t be taken too well.

“Well…I guess the first thing to do is get you settled in” said Nico, rubbing the back of his neck. “We talked it over with Chiron and Mr. D and they said instead of staying at the Hermes cabin, it was best for you to stay at Cabin 13 with me until we get confirmation from Thanatos about what kind of Cabin he wants.” 

‘It was safer for everyone if you stayed at the Hades cabin just in case’ was left unsaid.

“In all honesty, I really thought I wouldn’t be allowed to stay here since well…” you gestured to yourself with a nervous gulp as Nico scoffed. 

“If they allow a son of Hades to stay, they’ll have to allow you. Besides, you’re a demigod like the rest of us so you have a place at Camp just like the rest of us” said Nico. 

“That’s right! If anyone gives you any trouble, don’t hesitate to let us know and we’ll be there right with you!” agreed Hazel as Frank nodded. 

You felt your chest warm up a bit as you all approached Cabin 13. Despite it’s dark exterior, you felt a certain pull to it as Nico and Hazel opened the door for you. 

“Once again, Welcome [first name, last name], child of Thanatos, servitor of the Underworld, to Cabin 13, the Hades Cabin.”

On my way to make Nico some sort of entity anyway after Nico dies, he is divided into three parts. Cupid has his heart. Thanatos has his soul. And Hades has his memories.

And he forever sleeps away in Nyx’s embrace.

[Headcanon]

In an universe where Nico and Hades relationship was healthy from the start,and Hades had his children multiple times in the Underworld to visit him,when they were little and Persephone wasn't around,I image Thanatos to be the children's babysitter.

Hades was doing something in his office while the kids where there? No problem,he could have Thanatos to watch them for him until he finished everything he had to.

Bianca is painting and has finished the colors? Don't worry,Thanatos will get her the prettiest and expensive ones and the one she liked the most. How? We don't know,but he will.

Nico is running around playing with Cerberus? Thanatos is anxiously following his every move to make sure that he doesn't get hurt,while also playing with him.

The children are exploring the Underworld? Thanatos is with them to make sure they are safe,and don't end up causing trouble to others chthonic gods. Or don't end up too close to extremely dangerous places.

Since Bianca is pretty calm,and don't cause him extremely high level of stress unlike her little brother,she is Thanatos favorite,but he is extremely fond of Nico too.Hades is just glad that someone can help him with their chaotic personalities since Maria never wanted to be with them during their visits.

Now,imaga this Thanatos post-TTC,knowing that Bianca was dead and without memories of him (he was the one to bring her soul in the Underworld if Hades didn't do it himself) while not knowing where Nico went and with who.

He will probably do extraordinary,watching over Nico from afar because he doesn't know what to do anymore,since the children don't remember him. And after they formally met again? They fall back in the same dynamic they had before,because it's came natural even tho Nico doesn't know why. And Thanatos is just happy to being close to him again,so he is extremely protective of him and if Nico ends up in some trouble during his stays in the Underworld,he is the first one to help him.

And as you know most of my headcanons are about the beings of Underworld's relationship with Nico as their prince,and one of the ones I have on them is that Thanatos is like a big brother to Nico,and he call Nico "litte prince". Only he,outside of Hades and later on Persephone,can. Nico doesn't mind but sometimes it can gets embarassing.

"I told you already Thanatos,I'm fine! You don't need to drag me back,I can walk by myself."

"You and your father argued,you wanted to leave and accidentally shadow-travelled all the way to China,met a Chinese god –I don't even want to know about it but I'm sure your father will be happy about it– stayed there 2 days because you just wanted to,bought another 20 bags of designer clothes –they are heavy by the way– and only come back home because your father told me to come and get you. So,I'm sorry little prince but I can't do that."

"At least you didn't list my near-dead experience,that wasn't a funny one."

"W H A T?!"

Really,just Thanatos dragging Nico home everytime something happens,and Nico coming back with insane lore to dump on him,every single time. Nico's shenanigans are on a whole different level of insanity that Thanatos wasn't prepared for when he accepted to by their babysitter back in their childhood days. Thanatos doesn't mind,deep down,and for Nico,Thanatos is his favorite chthonic god for this reason.

(I will probably write something about it in the future on Ao3 now that my head gave me the idea. It would be pretty funny-)

Is Rick ever going to come back to that bit in TOA where he implied that Chiron was meeting with folks from the other pantheons about a potential threat?

Because if we do get an avengers style crossover I really need there to be a scene where Nico walks into the room and is like, "why is there so much death here. The Norse brought a couple of dead guys and the Egyptians brought actual death, but he's hiding inside that 16-year-old."

Okay I might be crazy but I just realized something. So we know that the battle of manhattan was in the middle of August and we know that Hazel arrived at camp Jupiter in September.

Which means that the issues with Thanatos and the doors of death started almost immediately after the battle.

So what I think is that when Hades brought up a bunch of skeletons to fight against the monsters, he inadvertently opened some entrances/exits to the underworld which made it easier for Thanatos to be captured and the doors of death to be chained.

So I just planned on yeeting myself for weeks now, and then I decided that I at least have to finish HoO before leaving. Long story short, Leo and Solangelo(I just started reading the Mark of Athena) convinced me to stay, cause I need to know where my babies are going. I'm thanking Uncle Rick for that cause I don't know what I'm going with all this depression and my ADHD issues.

If Hades raised Nico and Bianca Part 7 (feat Thanatos)

Nico: GIVE IT BACK!

Zagreus: C'mon, Nico, jump!

Nico, jumping, clawing up Zag's clothes to try and reach his hand: ZAGGY, GIVE IT BACK!!

Zagreus: C'mon, Nico, you can do it!

Nico, struggling: *starts to cry*

Zagreus: *gets smacked at the back of his head* OW! Thanatos!

Thanatos: Give it back to him, you imbecile.

Zagreus: Jeez, it was just a joke. *kneels down and puts his fist on Nico's face* There.

Nico: *feels his face*

Thanatos: What do you say, Zagreus?

Zagreus: *sigh* I'm sorry I took your nose.

Thanatos: Mhm ( -_-). *picks up Nico* Come, Nico, let's go see what your sister and Megaera are up to

Nico: *still feeling his face* Is my nose really there?

Thanatos: Yes, it's back on your tiny adorable face. And it is still very adorable.

Nico: I think Zaggy put it back on wrong.

Thanatos: Hmm...nope! Still adorable *nose kiss*

Nico: *giggles*

Zagreus: What? No nose kiss for me?

Thanatos: *glares at Zagreus*

Zagreus: Little Rat

Thanatos: What was that?

Zagreus: Nothing
