I'm not going to be able to write my typical long rambles for a bit (need to catch up on important work), but here's a short list of things I wanna talk about with the latest canto.

Spoilers, of course.

The entire Canto taking place after the ending of Don Quixote (the first Don, I will not call him the Actual Don because our Don is as much Don Quixote as he is) is not something I expected, but makes so much sense and made for a wonderful story. There are themes of identity, struggling to live under a broken system and GOD THE FAMILIAL TIES. THE FIGHT AGAINST THE TWO MIDBOSSES + THE PRIEST HAD SUCH MAGNIFICENT STORY BUILD UP. AND THE PRIEST'S ENTIRE MOVESET. UGGGH I WANNA TALK ABOTU IT

Hey. Outis. What did you mean by that. We all know what I'm talking about, right? This is the first time I know of that she's actually given even a smidge of info about herself somewhat directly. Somewhat. Everything else is just in how she knows things and acts. Here she is asking a very specific question and god, I need to know more about her now.

Vergilius with Sanson's face/mask is cursed.

I continue to feel so so bad for the Bloodfiends. They did the best they could in a world that gave them only two horrible options. I couldn't help but compare La Manchaland to the Tokyo Ghoul:RE ending, because the hemobars reminded me of the artificial meat, except in TG:RE it worked and here, well. We saw how that went. I think it's a great idea to start with the after of their solution; this isn't a situation with a possible solution, they tried that and failed. Who knows if there is one that works? Does it matter now that they're all dead?

I'm going to be very weird about Camille once this is all said and done, but I do want to note that the pretty boy being turned into a flower and having a name very clearly gotten from Carmilla the flower (and maybe the book? Haven't read it yet so idk if he's taken from there) is very cheeky. I still wish I could've besting him up myself. This isn't me critiquing the writing, this is me being weird.

The QTE in the ending cutscene of the boss fight was cool and really added to the feeling of fighting against and overcoming a clearly superior foe.

I wanna hug Don Quixote the First. He's such a ray of sunshine and deserved better. Even if he was somewhat delusional, at least he genuinely cared for his family.

What happened to Hong Lu's sister? Did she just vanish? I didn't notice until later on, so I'll probably need to go back and check myself.

Bari is the Librarian of Death (edit: Nameless Bookhunter, thanks for the correction AE)? Idfk and idc for now. If Bari ends up showing up again or a moot of mine decides they wanna talk about it, maybe I'll look into it.

The familial themes here are most certainly also going to be related to Hong Lu's story, which once more is a reason I really should get to reading all the books for this game.

Ryoshu accepting death from the possibility of fighting Don Qui the second was really funny.

The abno fights here are really good, and I love how Limbus is making unbreakable coins the standard from now on. Makes it so you can't just blaze through fights taking no damage, and these battles genuinely feel difficult. That's good. Their designs and mechanics are also pretty easy to understand and match with their ego gifts pretty well. God I wish we had more Rupture ids that could stack as much count as the Lasso abno.

Sancho fight was cool as hell. The clashable 10 speed skill was so good and made it feel like a massive improvement on the Cassetti fight. So good. On use coin power did mess me up a little given it doesn't show up in the clash numbers, but that was on me for not reading tbh.

Fun fact: final boss can be Meatlantern soloed really easily. So easy in fact that that's how I cleared it. Doing it with a full team didn't end well for me. The solo's also really consistent, which is nice.

Mili song is really good. As usual. I need to go listen to it again. I need an in-game mix. I need it. The childishness of Sancho's side of the tune compared with the seriousness of first Don's side is lovely.

Also. Please, in the final clash where you use Don's base ego. I hope you looked at the name of the ego and the name of Don the First's attack. Please. It's such a good detail. And it's so much better when you remember that Sancho was always the one making weapons for Don. He calls Sancho's lances much more graceful than his. It's so lovely. You can tell these two genuinely love each other. It's so good.

Also the fact that basically every fixer we went in with got wiped out by weakened Bloodfiends really shows just how powerful these bloodfiends are. Camille had to resort to using ego gear to survive. Sheesh.

i am home now!!!! here is a pic of both shelves

its a little messy n not well lit.. shelves are a little disorganized too especially the bottom two but its fiine ! lucky star shelf i showed you before is third down on the left. im gonna take better pictures to post here and on mfc once my sega power figure comes in and i move my toga and midari sections around

basic explanation, starting from the top on the left shelf: -combination toga and midari section, with my full ohshc manga set in the back -jiro section, with all my mha manga -lucky star section <333 -misc section, largely demon slayer, w assorted manga -another misc section, kinda where i stuck my least favorite figures LMAO im sorry guys right shelf: -mostly one piece section, partially disgaea section -yamato shrine plus kakegurui section runoff -mainly my edward shrine plus funkos lined up along my tokyo ghoul + tg:re manga sets, but my NSO section is slowly growing. plus miku -hxh section! mostly meruem, komugi, and neferpitou- theyre my 3 favs. couple misc figures next to them too -red box on the right of the lowest shelf is where i stash all my weed LMFAO isnt it a genius spot.. nobody would ever look or suspect. im soo smart.. anyway rest of that is misc manga and its kinda cluttered just pretend you dont see that

speaking of midari and toga sections! here are closeups of both !

midari section is currently cramped and messy.. usually has kakegurui manga behind it (hence the empty spot) but hunter is borrowing the first few volumes rn so it looks sad and empty :( need to move the midari section to another shelf because it and the toga section next to it are getting too large to coexist on the same shelf anymore they need more room. and speaking of toga section

wonderful angel.. also getting crowded mostly because banpresto always makes giant ass bases which take up lots of space on shelves </3 take a hint from pop up parade bp your base game SUCKS.

also just now realizing how BADLY tumblr annihilates quality... pls click on the pictures nd zoom in i promiseee they are better quality than that pls..

here is my jiro section !

gets a whole shelf all to herself (except for the dabi figure.. who is my bookend). im on a quest to get every single (non-gk) figure of jiro EVER made and so far i am missing seven out of sixteen :( most of the rest are trading figures and funkos except for the bellfine scale figure which is hella expensive.. like $100+.. but she will be mine eventually. here are the ones im missing

top 3 are trading figures, middle is still on preorder i think so it cant be mine yet , jst need to track down the other two somewhere. on the bottom are two of the funkos which are easy to buy but i dont LIKE having funkos and i dont WANT them but because its jiro i have to buy them anyway :/ im just putting it off. i almost ordered the first one the other day but decided to wait for the price to go down a bit. middle one is a gamestop exclusive thats bundled with a t shirt and i could easily buy it rn at, yk, gamestop, but i dont want the t shirt so i gotta buy th funko individually off ebay. last pic on the bottom is the bellfine scale, found it for $90 on a site recently when it usually goes for $120/$130+ so hopefully it'll be mine soon!1 anywayy sorry 4 yapping.. just love jiro will collect all her figures 4ever. wish i could do that for toga but she has too many :( 62 compared to jiro's 16 :( anywayyy more shelfies

the midari section was formerly just the kakegurui section but i had to boot these 3 figures out cause they wouldnt fit:

mary nendoroid (which i got for a STEAL at $28 unopened, they usually go for like $70 or more), plus mary and yumeko pop up parades (they are holding hands). and next to them:

yamato section! my beautiful prince yamato! the angle of this one sucks.. wtv. the big figure between the manga is the most expensive figure i've bought so far at $45, not counting the kangel L pop up parade figure i preordered for like $64 (doesnt count cause i dont have it yet). and SPEAKING OF KANGEL...!

kangel pop up parade!!! i got her yesterday!!! and the goodsmile bonus p-chan (the sad kitty)! put her in front of my nso manga + switch game, im so so happy i got her :3 and i'll be even happier when i get the kangel L figure, which is wayy bigger and imo prettier

hide from tg for the character opinion bingo?

i debated for sooooo long whether to check "projects on them like a mfer" because i Do project on hide, but i dont think quite enough for this game. (i def project on kaneki like a mfer tho. that man is soooooooo mirror shaped fr)(that probably says bad things about my mental health but shhhhhh)

hideyoshi nagachika is easily one of my favorite characters. i wish we knew more about hide in canon, but he's just very underutilized imo and i want to see him interact with the other characters! i want to know what he's been up to!!! he's got to have had a lot going on based on how he acts but he isn't in the spotligt often enough to see what it is. dude sees his bff is a ghoul and hide jumps right in headfirst trying to understand the ghoul world, help out, and be a good friend. in the flashbacks he strikes me as the type of person who helps all of his friends with dangerous situations in high school and sorta assumes he's the lucky one with a better life, but he is also hanging out on the playground with only his best friend at like 10PM, so he probably doesn't understand how bad his own life is bc he's like "well my parents don't just hand me 10 bucks for my day's food and tell me get out of the house, so my home is very safe (even if i don't think it's safer than some random playground at 10pm)".

hide runs into jason and tracks jason, whom hide is well aware Will torture hide to death if jason catches on. hide joins the ccg fully intending to commit felony lying to government officials about his ghoul friends. he shows up to the anteiku raid as a spy on the side of the human flesh eating monsters (his friends, whom i also love so so dearly, but the point is hide is a wild dude). he goes to aogiri at some point in the background of tg:re, technically on aogiri's side, but once again fully prepared to turn on the terrorist cannibals for a single corn chip.

at no point in any of these choices is hide shown to be anything other than an average human college freshman.

i am Obsessed with him. thats just a little dude. just a funky guy. 18 years old this man gets curbstomped by nishiki from the student event board (who turns out to eat human flesh), finds out his best friend since first grade Also eats human flesh, and hide just rolls with this because he's just chill like that. i am Obsessed i tell you

You opened an old wound with the Uta comment lol. Like I understand that especially in serialized publications it's pretty impossible to not drop some plotlines but with Uta it's just weird since Ishida spent so much time on him up until pretty much the end. Like why did he bother with this for so long? It's not like you can give a character so much spotlight by accident. And in the end it wasn't even a minor thing... there was just nothing. But I'm very excited for his new project :)

“It’s impossible to not drop some protlines” - anon, let me introduce you to Fullmetal Alchemist. It’s very much possible (also ran at Bessatsu Shounen, one of the reason I’m hoping they’ve got Ishida’s new gig). 

Urgh, all the TG mysteries bother me to this very day and will in the future. 

Buuut Ishida burned out pretty badly on TG closer to the end. The reasons we can speculate on until the cows come home, but you don’t want to work on something that burned you out. Ishida started working on a (non-TG-related, maybe a prototype for Jack Jeanne?) game about a year before TG:re was set to officially end. I thought at the time it was a definitive proof that things really went to shit, especially for a person who’d just a few years before had spent every waking minute doing stuff for TG (he wrote 500 pages of the TG game! He drew the calendar as a passion project!).
