counselor cancelled day-of on me again. sad! well there's other coping mechanisms
#It’s okay she has a family emergency happening I harbor no ill will#but dammit I was really banking on her helping me make a time sensitive decision looooool#can I make a poll about it? that’s stupid as hell god I am actually going to make a poll if my best friend doesn’t text back ha.#cue that audio of William afton screaming in agony in the springlock suit. and then also a picture of SpongeBob crying.#oop vent time ahead:#texting my mom something I’m scared will upset her. do I do it now while I’m at work or try to do it face to face later#because there’s never going to be a good time and I’ve already spent so much time bc I’m scared of hurting her by moving out#if I hadn’t already texted my brother about it I would be cancelling my tour appointment. and if I could do it without her knowing about it#I wouldn’t be telling her haha!#why do I feel like I’m abandoning her. I just really want her on my side for this#because I’m already overwhelmed by the prospects of moving even though I want it and I can’t handle her hating me for it and calling me#selfish. you know.#I’m not even MOVING OUT YET I’m just going to LOOK even though I do already have my heart set on this place#but her reaction to hearing I’m even considering it is going to color the rest of the experience haha!#and I don’t have ANY other adult I can go to for wisdom. EXCEPT FOR MY NEW THERAPIST#who I am not seeing today. sigh#okay I’ve reached my crying at work quota for today I’m going to eat my lunch now.#But if anyone else has any words of kindness or even just read this far I will love you forever haha#vent

Down the aisle | Leslie Shay x Firefighter!Reader
Where you and Shay go from girlfriend's to wives
Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 1.6k
-----
“Kelly Severide, stop laughing at me.” Shay said in frustration. “Why? It’s funny that you have something bad to say about every beautiful ring you see.” Her best friend had been with her in the jewellery store for the past hour, not to mention that it was the fourth jewellery store they had visited in the past week.
“The ring has to be perfect, Kelly.” He shook his head, “I know, but at this pace there aren’t going to be any rings left in the world. That girl is head over heels for you, and will say yes no matter what ring you pick. “Still I want it to be perfect.”
They kept looking around at the ring collection this store had until Shay’s eyes fell on the one. “Oh my god, that’s it. That is the ring!” Kelly celebrated quietly behind Shay’s back. He loved his best friend dearly, but was also glad that he would finally be spending his days off somewhere other than in a jewellery store.
For Shay it had been easy to keep her thoughts of wanting to ask for your hand in marriage, but now that she had something physical to do it with, she was anxious you would find out. She had given Kelly the ring for safekeeping, but still she knew that she wouldn’t be able to keep the plan a secret for much longer. So, she changed her original plan a little bit, and decided she was going to ask you on your next date night.
Since you both worked 24 hour shifts at the firehouse, you made sure that you made time for each other on your hours off. One of the things you did to reassure you would have some time set aside was a set date night. It really didn’t matter what you did, the only thing that mattered is that you did it together.
Today’s date night, you went to the Field Museum of Natural History. They had a dinosaur section, which is exactly why Shay wanted to bring you here. You loved dinosaurs and learning more about them. You thought the museum was amazing, and were running around showing her things like an excited little kid.
When you got back home, you were still talking about the dinosaurs. So much so that you didn’t realise the set up of your living room. Shay looked around, very happy with how her idea had played out. She had asked Kelly and Dawson to set up the “Will you marry me?” sign surrounded by a rose petal heart. It looked absolutely perfect, now you just had to look around.
The moment that you did, time stood still. You looked at the setup in front of you with your jaw dropped, and eyes widened in surprise. When you turn to look at your girlfriend, she is down on one knee and holds out an open ring box towards you. “Yes, yes, yes!” You say with tears in your eyes.
“You're not even going to let me ask the question?” She giggles with tears in her own eyes from your excitement. “Oops?” You laugh back. “Please ask me, darling.”
With a big smile on her face, Shay holds your hand. “You are my best friend, and I want to spend the rest of my life by your side. Y/n Y/l/n, will you marry me?”
You're now both full on crying, but in the best way. “Yes, I will definitely marry you!” You fall into her arms and sob happy tears into each other's shoulders.
The rest of the evening was spent in the comfort of your home and each other's arms. It wasn't until the next day that you told people about your engagement. Shay sent Severide a picture with the text “She said yes!” He congratulated the both of you and invited you for a drink at Molly's.
Of course, you should have expected the whole team to be waiting for you inside of Molly’s as you arrived. All of them yelling out “Surprise!” When you walked through the door. It was nice celebrating this step in your relationship with the people closest to you, the people that had become your family over the years.
The next day where the team was back at work, the room buzzed with energy. Everyone was excited about the engagement, and was asking all kinds of questions about your plans for the wedding. Above all else, they were thrilled that the couple they had seen grow over the years, was taking the next step together.
Your day started off calm, but as soon as that first bell rang, you knew it wouldn’t be stopping any time soon. As you expected, the calls began to pile up, and the intensity grew. A handful of car accidents, a heart attack victim, and a kitchen fire kept you busy in just the morning.
There was just enough time to have some lunch, before the bells rang again. All units were called to respond to the scene, so you knew this was going to be a serious one.
A multi-story building had caught fire, and people were still trapped inside. You rushed into truck 81 and your team raced to the scene. When you got there you realised just how far gone the building was. Flames were shooting out the windows, and thick dark clouds of smoke hung around the tall frame of the building.
Without hesitation, you all sprang into action. “Y/l/n, you’re going up with me. The rest help Squad.” You put on your mask and ran inside, following close behind Casey. When you got up to the fire floor, there was no time for second-guessing, you had to go before the building would collapse.
The heat and the thick smoke combined, made it hard to see anything at all. Yet you kept yelling out, until finally you heard voices respond. A family of four was hiding in the bathroom, as most of the room was engulfed in flames.
You and Casey worked together to get the trapped family into the hall. You stood in the middle of the room, helping them over the flames, while Casey got them into the hallway. The moment that the family was out in the hallway, the ceiling about you gave way.
One of the beams came crashing down, and pinned you to the floor. “Go, get downstairs!” Casey shouted to the family. The safest for them was to head down and meet another firefighter there, he didn’t want more of the ceiling to collapse while the family was still there.
“Mayday mayday, firefighter down on the sixth floor.” He radio’s in while he makes his way to you. Seconds after Shay’s voice is heard over the radio. “Casey, is y/n okay?” He doesn’t answer, as he doesn’t know the answer himself yet.
“Casey, come in.” Boden requested as the line was still quiet from your end. “Getting to her now. The ceiling collapsed and she’s trapped under a beam. She’s conscious, but I need help getting it off of her.”
You were conscious and talking to Casey while he was trying to pull the beam off himself, without any luck. Luckily more people arrived to aid him, very quickly. With many hands, cribbing, and the right tools, they were able to get you out from underneath the weight of the beam quickly.
When you got outside, one arm over Casey’s shoulders and the other over Severides, you finally felt like you could breathe again. Shay ran into your arms. “Are you okay? Let me check you out, please, I need to make sure that you’re okay.” You lift your arms from the boys and hold onto your fianceé. “I’m okay, just going to be really sore tomorrow.”
“I thought I lost you.” You shake your head. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily.” You joke, but you were well aware of how the situation could have ended. “Life is too short. I don’t want to waste any time.” Shay was quick to chime in, “You don’t have to convince me, let’s get married as fast as we can.”
After a long and exhausting shift, the team got together for a small firehouse wedding. It was just quickly thrown together, but you had all you needed. Your bride and your family surrounding you.
Severide walked Shay down the makeshift aisle, while you were standing in the doors of the apparatus floor with Casey by your side. He was like a brother to you, so there was not even a question on your mind when Shay asked you who you would want to walk you down the aisle. “Are you ready?” He says as he watches your eyes meet Shay’s. “I’ve never been more ready for something in my life.”
You met Shay between Truck 81 and Ambulance 61, a small touch to give even more meaning to this day. Boden stood between you, who better to officiate your wedding than the man that had been like a father figure to the both of you.
The ceremony, while simple, was perfect. It was a day neither one of you would ever forget. After you had said your I do’s and sealed your marriage with a kiss, you carried Shay inside bridal style.
While the day may be over, your shift was not. But for now the team would rest, and hope to be recharged enough when the next bell rang. For you the day was perfect, just because you had Shay by your side for the rest of your life.

omg you saw it too!! Can you give us a detailed review too pretty please? But if you prefer not to, I totally understand!!
unfortunately my memory sucks and i saw it over a week ago at this point so i'll try my best 😅
i was sitting in row N so closer to the back and there were two people with ipads taking notes on things to change which was cool because im nosy. however, they didn't make a lot of notations and from what i could read, it mostly had to do with lighting so i don't expect much to change when i go see it again in a few weeks.
i love jamie's work and have seen his productions before but was still taken aback by the darkness at the beginning of the play. you can see tom on the screens (i loved the usage of cameras and screens so they could have full use of the theater) as he's backstage and the heavy breathing put me on edge because i was like
Tumblr media
then tom sat at the front of the stage and cried and because he is also such a pretty crier and maybe that's my own weird kink i had the biggest smile on my face. however, the girls in front of me were about to cry with him 😂 tell me this didnt do something for you!
Tumblr media
but when fran came out, the people around me sat up. she's phenomenal and i want more people to talk about her performance because she's the star of the show. the way she delivers her lines is so funny and they have a great balance of making it feel current while delivering the original iambic penameter.
then as soon as fran and tom came face to face, the audience audibly reacted. not loud enough to be distracting but enough that you know they were into it. i was in love
Tumblr media
lots of shakespeare stuff happened, tom took off that sweatshirt and came out in that vest and multiple people gasped. you can see his abs through the shirt 🫠 and when the nurse squeezes his arm and basically says juliet i get it, that line got a huge laugh. my internal monologue was just
this is a married man this is a married man this is a married man
and then intermission came and i talked to the people around me and this was the conversation
fran is so pretty, talented, funny, amazing, we love her
tom's haircut
tom's arms 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
is zendaya the jealous type or would she say yes that's my man (i had to pretend to be very normal about this conversation and said absolutely the jealous type i have no sources 👀)
how do we get to the stagedoor in time to see them (the amount of texts i got about those videos because i am RIGHT THERE with the most in love expression on my face)
the chemistry is unbelievable and we didn't want the show to be over
somehow we made it to the end of the play and i'll be honest, the second half is my least favorite part of the play so it was also my least favorite to watch. i love how silly and romantic the first half can be and the second half is more doom and gloom. i will say, when this exchange happens
"will you speak well of him that killed your cousin?"
"shall I speak ill of him that is my husband?"
my friend and i audibly said "oop" and that got laughs in our section. the best thing about this play was their delivery and when i read r&j, i couldve never imagined how much fun it could be coming from jamie.
anyway, at the end, we rushed out to the stage door and it was insane to see how the street cleared when tom left. and security was the best. really such sweet guys and if you see them being mean to people, they spend the whole time giving instruction is the friendliest way so those people deserved it.
the we got to speak with fran who is the sweetest and signed my customized r&j book with her face on the cover and my programme
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
can't wait to go see it again in a few weeks. i wish i could have every second imprinted on my brain

Cardigan
Pairing: Jason Todd x Fem Reader (version of jason isn’t mentioned but i wrote it with his original storyline death from Batman: A Death In The Family, not a later, retconned version)
Warnings: angst but also fluff, reader is a famous singer, use of Y/N, pet names (baby, sweetheart, princess, lmk if i missed any), swearing, makes references to other songs (Lover by Taylor Swift, Lucky People by Waterparks, and Favorite Record by Fall Out Boy), i reread this like 8 times but i couldve missed things so don't flame me if theres any fuck ups in there lmao
Word Count: 4,175
A/N: (yes i know cardigan is part of the teenage love triangle songs, yes i made it into somewhat fluff because i fucking wanted to, whats it to you? I was just listening to cardigan (by taylor swift if you were unaware) in the shower and had this beautiful idea of like what if rather than it being about getting cheated on, i make it about the reader experiencing Jason’s death (and resurrection)? also i color coded the dialogue which is something i normally don't do soooo fun little touch i guess.) (originally posted may 22, 2023 on an alternate account)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Italics mean it’s a flashback, bold and bigger means it's a song lyric, regular text means it's happening in real time. (with very obvious exceptions) Cool? Cool. also, real quick, THE FLASHBACKS ARE NOT IN PERFECT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!!!!
“HELLO GOTHAM CITY!” The crowd roared in excitement. Y/N was excited too, it was her first show in Gotham in a long time. This was her first tour in a long time. Of course, she let the public think that it was just because she was a teenager focusing on school, not because when she was 16 her first love the love of her life had been brutally murdered…
“It’s really nice to be playing a hometown show, and since this is my first one in forever, how about I play you something brand new?” Screams erupted in the audience, people pulling out their phones to get the first recording of a brand new song.
“This one means a lot to me, it’s about someone very special to me, and how he came back to me when I needed him most. This is a quieter one so I'm gonna need you all to listen, and please don’t judge me if I cry during this. Alright, this one’s called ‘cardigan’ everybody!”
Rows and rows of people buzzed with excitement as the music began to play.
~
Vintage tee, brand new phone
Y/N and Jason walked in, strutting about as if they were models in the new vintage tees Y/N had bought for them at the thrift store just days before. They strolled about the mall, eventually making the stop to get Jason a new phone, he had dropped his from a rooftop on patrol the night before. Oops.
“Jay, baby, you can’t just use Bruce’s credit card without asking all the time” Y/N smiled, knowing Jason wasn’t going to listen to her
“Says who? Besides, I told him I was taking it. If he didn’t want to pay for me to get a new phone, he should’ve given me a secure pocket in the suit for it like I asked.” Jason shrugged. He wasn’t atrociously rebellious at all times, but he knew Bruce had more than enough money for him to get a new phone, and to treat his girlfriend, and best friend, when he wanted to. “Plus, if I didn’t take his card, I wouldn’t be able to spoil you, would I?” He wrapped an arm around her waist, pressing a kiss to her temple as they walked out of the store.
High heels on cobblestone
Y/N’s heels clicked loudly against the cobblestone walkway as she made her way to the entrance of the Wayne gala, arm linked with Jason’s.
“Are you sure I look alright? I’ve never worn a dress this fancy Jason. Should I even be at a Wayne gala I mean–” Jason cut her off.
“Sweetheart you look perfect. And if anyone tells you otherwise I will personally ask Bruce to kick them out.”
“Jay, you can’t do that.”
“According to who? I have adopted Wayne privilege and you’re the one who’s Bruce’s favorite”
“I am not Bruce’s favorite!”
“Yes you are, princess.”
He dragged her into the gala, excited to spend a night with her, and after that, her first Wayne gala was nothing but history, as she attended every single one at her lover’s side.
When you are young they assume you know nothing
“That boy is a delinquent Y/N! I doubt you even know anything about him, has he even told you how he came to meet Mr Wayne?” Y/N’s father shouted. He’d never liked Jason, despite him being Y/N’s best friend for years before things ever became romantic. She used to be able to avoid it, but when her mom moved out of state for work and Y/N wanted to stay in Gotham… well this was her only option.
“Yes dad, I know how he met Bruce! You realize I knew him long before he was adopted by Bruce Wayne right? That I didn’t just go for him because he was rich? You assume because I’m young that I know nothing!”
“Clearly you don’t know anything if you would choose to be with a boy who is a thief! He tried to steal Mr. Wayne’s tires!”
“He was trying to steal them because he was living on the streets and needed money to fucking eat, Dad! Clearly you’re the one who knows nothing here!”
She stormed out of the house, furiously texting Jason and trying to will away the angry tears.
Sequined smile, black lipstick
Y/N grinned at Jason, her black lipstick fresh as they prepared to go to a party. Bruce had cleared Jason of Robin duty for the weekend and they’d decided to take time to enjoy being normal teenagers.
“What do you think?” She asked, still smiling
“I think… I’m really tempted to kiss that lipstick right off of you”
“Come do it then.”
Sensual politics
“Do you ever think about sensual politics?” Y/N looked up at Jason, her head in his lap as he read a book.
“What the fuck do you mean ‘sensual politics’?”
“Like the politics of being flirtatious or like building a relationship with someone, but like also kind of a play on sexual politics and people’s perception of the difference’s between men and women and the politics of it, you know? Like they’re both very different things but you can name them the same thing”
“And you’re calling that sensual politics?”
“Yes, what about it?”
“I wish I could understand what’s going on in that brain of yours. You’re such a nerd, princess”
When you are young they assume you know nothing
“Jaybird, if you hurt her, I hope you know I’ll have to break your legs” Dick shrugged as if this was common knowledge.
“I won’t hurt her, Dickwad. She’s the best thing to happen to me.”
“Okay, but you’re young and stupid, anything could happen.”
“Just because you knew nothing when you were young doesn’t mean I’m stupid.”
But I knew you
Years ago, Y/n was 11 and Jason was 10. Y/N was on her way home from the school when she saw someone she recognized.
“Hey! You’re the boy from the library! You showed me my favorite book!”
Jason flushed, unaware that she’d remember him, or that she’d take the recommendation he’d once given her seriously
“Yeah uh, hi. My names Jason, Jason Todd.” He stuck his hand out to shake.
She placed her hand in his and shook. "Y/N."
Dancin' in your Levi's
Y/N and Jason slow danced in her room, her record player spinning some old collection she’d snagged from Wayne manor.
“I was unaware that Levi’s were ballroom attire, Monsieur.”
“And I was unaware your bedroom counted as a ballroom, Mademoiselle”
Drunk under a streetlight, I
“Jason you’re drunk.”
“No I’m notttt. Please Y/N pleeeeaaassseee be my girlfriend.”
“You’re drunk Jay, if you weren’t then you’d remember I already am.” She laughed, watching her lover shoot up in excitement
“Really? That’s so cool!”
I knew you
"Y/N what do you think? Do you think he'd like this for his birthday?"
"Why are you asking me? You're his brother!"
"Yeah but you know him better than anyone else"
Hand under my sweatshirt
"Jason Peter Todd get your cold ass hands out from under my sweatshirt!"
"What do you mean princess?" He dragged his freezing cold hands further up her back
"Eek!"
Baby, kiss it better, I
Y/N carefully finished wrapping the bandages around Jason's waist.
"I can't believe you got stabbed!"
"Kiss it better?"
"Dork." She pressed a kiss to his bandages, before making her way up to his lips.
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite
“What’s got you down princess?” Jason quirked an eyebrow, the moment Y/N entered the manor there was an unhappy energy on her, like she was faking her smile. He knew her all too well. “Come here”. He opened his arms to her, gesturing that she should come lay with him on the excessively large couch (rich people bro) and she happily obliged, latching onto his side like a koala with her head on his chest.
“It’s just… I don’t know, sometimes I feel like an old cardigan, under someone’s bed. Just… forgotten.”
“I could never forget you. Sometimes people lose things that are important to them. If you’re an old cardigan then I’m finding you and putting you on because the whole time you were my favorite.” He pressed a kiss to her hair.
“How poetic” She could feel his chest shake as he laughed.
“What can I say? I’m a man of literature. Speaking of which! Do you want to watch Pride and Prejudice?”
“Again?”
“Yes, AgAiN”
Y/N looked up at her boyfriend, beaming. “Always.”
A friend to all is a friend to none
“You can’t keep acting like nothing is going on Jason. You love her, so why are you friends with someone like the asshole who ruined her reputation?”
“Dammit Dick, I didn’t even know that he was the one who did that until a like week ago!”
“And you’ve hung out with him twice since then! A friend to all is a friend to none, Jaybird.”
Chase two girls, lose the one
Surely all of Gotham had heard them arguing from their favorite spot on the roof of the library.
“Jason I understand that you want to go meet your birth mother, but why does that mean you have to not be in touch for an undetermined amount of time? I don’t understand why finding her means leaving me!” Y/N hadn’t meant to shout. She wasn’t actually mad at him. She understood why he wanted to go, but that didn’t make him leaving hurt any less. Why should she have to lose contact with him, let him run off to another continent without any knowledge of if he was okay?
“Sweetheart I’m not leaving you, I’m just trying to find my mom…”
“Yeah, at the expense of me! Jay I will never prevent you from doing something this important to you but that will not change the fact that this hurts me. That I’ll be lying awake at night not knowing if you’re okay or if you’re even going to want me when you come home! Not even being able to ask Bruce if you’re okay because you plan on doing this without his knowledge! For fucks sake Jason do you realize how that would feel?”
“God dammit Y/N why can’t you just be happy for me?”
“Because you’re LEAVING ME. You know what, go ahead and go Jason. You’re choosing to chase two girls and you’ve lost this one.” She made her way down, trying not to let her hands shake from all the emotional turmoil, at least not until she was on the ground again. There was no way she would know how much she’d regret saying that to him.
When you are young, they assume you know nothing
“It’s your first heartbreak Y/N, you’ll get over it. It was teenage puppy love, something was bound to happen.” Her father had no clue. It had been days and she hadn’t heard from Jason. Last she checked with Alfred, Bruce had followed him out to the middle east somewhere.
“This was, this is so much more than that. You’re doing it again, assuming that because I’m young I must know nothing.”
“Clearly you don’t know anything.”
But I knew you
“When were you gonna tell me that you being a literature nerd was knowledge Dick wasn’t supposed to get his hands on?” Y/N gave him a look. The look that says ‘i didn't know this was a secret so you can't be upset i spilled’
“Shit, princess, please don’t tell me you told him… he’ll never let me live it down!”
“Oops?” She shrugged. He started to say something else but she kissed him before the words could escape. “It’s alright Jay, it makes you a romantic. And it means I know you better than him.”
Jason smiled. “I guess you’re right…”
Playing hide-and-seek and
“Do you wanna play hide and seek?”
“Sweetheart, aren’t we too old for that?”
“Who said that? Come onnn"
“Y/N.”
“Hm?”
“You know I can’t say no to you.”
Giving me your weekends, I
“You know we don’t have to spend every weekend together right? You can hang out with your friends or your family if you want.”
“Why would I do that when I could give you all my weekends?”
I knew you
"How did you know to tell Bruce I wanted adjustments on the Robin bike?"
"Because I'm just cool like that. And i know you. Now come on, let's take it for a spin!"
Your heartbeat on the High Line
Y/N pressed the side of her head to Jason's chest as a stranger took their photo on the High Line. The trip to New York had been spontaneous, something they'd decided to do for spring break.
After taking her phone back from the kind stranger and thanking them, Y/N turned to her dear boyfriend.
"I could hear your heartbeat you know."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, you'd think it was our first date or something." Y/n grinned.
"Because you make me feel... I don't know, like Pip if Estella was actually good for him?"
"Did you just reference Great Expectations at me as a way of expressing your feelings?"
"Maybe?"
"Kiss me."
Once in twenty lifetimes, I
Y/N often thought of how her mother had once told her that true teenage love like the one she had with Jason only came once in 20 lifetimes. Although, in retrospect maybe it's twice in two lifetimes, or once in one, for the partner who didn't die.
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite
"Would I still be your favorite person if I was a worm?"
"Well no cause you wouldn't be a person anymore, but you'd be my favorite worm-"
"You know what? I'll take it."
"You'll always be my favorite."
To kiss in cars
"Jason Todd, you are a menace to society."
"What? How?"
"You brought me out to Bruce's Rolls-Royce to make out."
"So?"
and downtown bars
"Who would've thought the boy wonder had a fake ID?"
"Maybe his girlfriend who's cousin made it for him"
"What? Which one?"
Jason smirked at her, knowing it was going to eat her alive not knowing yes im projecting how nosy i am onto the y/n "Sorry princess, that stays a secret"
Was all we needed
You drew stars around my scars
"Jason, it's just an old scar from scraping my knee a little too deep, it's no big deal!"
He continued drawing small stars around any scars he found on her, gently dragging the red marker along her skin. "I didn't say it was!"
But now I'm bleedin'
When Jason hadn’t come back, Y/N had done one of the only things she promised him she would never do: taking up vigilantism. She told Bruce it was only temporary. She told herself it was only temporary. But the longer she was in the game the more attached to it she became.
"FUCK!" Y/N yelped as she sat on her bathroom counter, pressing a damp rag to her wound, carefully wiping it off. "God dammit, I used to be patching up Jason's stab wounds, not getting stabbed..." She picked up her phone, dialing the only number she cared to call anymore.
"Yeah, Dick? Can you come over real quick? Need you to make sure this stab wound doesn't kill me..."
The audible "WHAT" echoed throughout the bathroom, despite the phone not being on speaker.
'Cause I knew you
"How'd you know I'd be here?"
Y/N found Jason at their spot on the roof of the library after Dick informed her that he'd had a particularly rough argument with Bruce.
"Because I know you better than anyone else."
Steppin' on the last train
Jason dragged Y/N towards the last train of the night, what they never knew would be their final date before everything went astray.
"Come on! The last train is the best one!"
Marked me like a bloodstain, I
The image of Jason, dead, being carried away by Bruce was forever marked in Y/N's head. He was dead. There was nothing else to say.
I knew you
Speaking at Jason's small memorial was never something Y/N saw herself doing.
"I uh- I really don't know what to say. You all always said I knew him better than anyone else, and I just wish I could've known the way to prevent this."
Tried to change the ending
Y/N tried so hard to change the ending of her story. Make it so she wasn't just the girl who lost herself in grief. But until unless she saw Jason again, nothing was going to happen.
Peter losing Wendy, I
As she sat there writing 'Cardigan' it occurred to her that Peter losing Wendy was a choice, and her losing Jason never was, but it fit. Their love was a magic only to be found in Neverland.
I knew you
"Hey Red, do I know you from somewhere in civilian life? You seem familiar..."
"No way, too new in town, sorry."
She knew she knew him. She just couldn't place why...
Leavin' like a father
Even though she'd told him just to go, Jason still stopped by Y/N's house before he left to find his mother.
"Please don't leave me, Jay." She cupped his cheeks, pressing his forehead to hers as tears streamed down her face
"Don't cry, baby, I'll be back before you know it."
Running like water, I
Of course, Y/N hadn't known the identity of the Red Hood the first time she'd spotted him. All she had time to think was wondering why such a large man, with guns nonetheless, ran from her like she was out to get him.
And when you are young, they assume you know nothing
"Why do people love to assume that because I'm young I must know nothing about love or heartbreak?" Y/N had asked one day. No one answered. No one knew. They only knew that they were all too aware of just how much she truly knew about both of those things.
But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss
"I want a blue jay on my forearm. Full color. Can you do that?"
Y/N had walked into the tattoo parlor like she owned the place. She needed a way to let him permanently linger. The kiss of a needle in her skin the only way to physically represent him.
I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs
"What if I had made him stay?!"
"Y/N there's nothing you could've done that would change things."
"But what if—"
"There was nothing any of us could do."
The smell of smoke would hang around this long
"Thought you told me that you quit smoking years ago Red."
"Yeah, well, old habits die hard."
"Rough day huh?"
"Yeah. Girlfriend from before all this almost saw me in the library today. She doesn't know about me."
"About you being a vigilante?"
"She thinks I'm dead."
"You know, maybe I'll do this and be totally mistaken and realize i'm delusional, but I swear to whatever fucking god is listening if i tear off that domino mask and Jason Todd is under there I will be pushing you off this rooftop."
"If I've been hanging out with Y/N this whole time I'm throwing myself off."
'Cause I knew everything when I was young
Y/N was playing a show in Los Angeles, touring at age 15 was insane, but then again, she never thought anyone would listen to her music.
"Alright everyone, I may be young, but I also consider myself to be quite versed in romance, who knows, maybe it's my lovely boyfriend, or the fact that I'm a hopeless romantic, but either way, this one's called Favorite Record!"
Even at a young age, she'd known everything she needed to about love, because it encased her every moment she spent with her favorite person.
I knew I'd curse you for the longest time
She sat at Jason's grave in the Wayne family plot for more hours than she could count, swearing at his headstone
"God dammit! Why didn't you come home? Why didn't you come back to me?" Sobs wracked her body. "I was waiting for you to come home."
Chasin' shadows in the grocery line
Every once in a while Y/N would see someone and think someone was him. Maybe it was her brain's sick way of coping. She reached towards the stranger in front of her.
"Excuse me-"
But when he turned around Jason was gone. It was just another high school boy who had vaguely reminiscent hair.
I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired
A knock came on Y/N's bedroom window. She opened it warily before the Red Hood came clinking in.
"Thrill of letting me think you were dead over?"
"Y/N please-"
"Did you sit and watch as I grieved? Stand by while I lost my mind because I thought I'd lost you?"
"Sweetheart, just let me explain–"
"Don't fucking 'sweetheart' me. Get out. Get out of my fucking room."
And you'd be standin' in my front porch light
"Get off my damn porch Jason." He was standing in civilian clothes, shuffling his feet nervously as if he was a little kid again.
"Not until you let me explain!"
"Fine. You get to come in for five minutes. See if you can explain to me how there is any way you can justify this."
And I knew you'd come back to me
Y/N sat with her jaw slack in shock after hearing Jason's story. How saying he died wasn't even a lie, how he'd been brought back, the madness he'd experienced, the resentment for nobody killing the Joker. (she flat out told him she would've if she thought she could do it without getting herself killed in the process)
"i'm such a fucking asshole."
"No you aren't"
"No you went through this whole traumatic experience and I've just been a dick to you!"
"And it's been totally justified! You should've been the first person to find out I was back. Honestly I'm surprised Dick or Bruce didn't tell you..."
"I'm going to ignore the urge to castrate both of them and just be happy you came back to me."
You'd come back to me
"I'll always come back to you."
And you'd come back to me
"Make sure you come back in one piece?" They were on the same mission, much to Jason's dismay, but they had to be split up.
"When have I ever not come back to you?"
"...."
"Don't answer that."
And you'd come back
They'd made it out of that atrocious mission. It all worked out in the end but it certainly had taken longer than they planned.
"hey, you came back in one piece, just like I asked."
"I always do, just for you."
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite
Y/N heard Jason coming in. His duffel bag clunked loudly against their closet floor, and she assumed he changed out of his gear at a safehouse before returning to their apartment. She flipped over the edge of the blanket, making room for him to crawl in bed with her. Once sufficiently comfortable behind her, arms wrapped tightly around her waist, Jason spoke.
"Hey Y/N?"
She turned around in his arms so she could face him. "Uh oh, you didn't call me any kind of pet name, just my name, whats up?"
"Nothing I just... I just wanted to let you know you're still my favorite."
~
The tears were flowing freely by then. The audience screamed, cheering at the sweet song. “My favorite person didn’t get to be around for a while, but… he came back to me, and that’s all that matters. Now that's enough crying, I’ve got some much more fun songs, ARE YOU READY GOTHAM CITY!?” And with that, the show went on.
Hours later, Y/N made her way backstage, where she was immediately enveloped by the arms of a mystery man. She wasn’t scared though, she knew who it was. Her arms wrapped around his neck as he spun her around.
He sat her down gently, beaming. “You wrote a song about me?” “Jay… baby a lot of my songs are about you.”
“What?”
“I’m going to ignore the fact that you managed to not know that even though I’ve told you before.”
“I just assumed you weren’t serious!”
“... You really think that Lover or Lucky People or Favorite Record, could have possibly been about anyone else?”
“And if I just like hearing you say it?”
“Then I’ll tell you forever.” When their lips met, it was a promise, one that this, this feeling in this moment, was real, and that it wouldn’t ever go away, because they knew everything when they were young.

you're just a stranger I know everything about.
Tumblr media
Content warnings; sadness lol, confrontation, crying, a few Taylor references because I am unbearable, swearing, shouting, and just general angst. (no happy ending either oops)
a/n; day 1 of the matty 35 celebration! and what better way to start it than with some teacher au angst?? I know my birthdays always have an air of melancholy, so I feel like this is appropriate. I fear this is rushed and SO bad, but eh, too late now!! anyway, enjoy! maybe? if you can?
word count; 3.5k ish
(this fic is an extension from the "don't you think of me?" universe, which you can read here.)
✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿
The text sits on your phone. Every time the screen starts to dim, you tap it to keep it illuminated, yet you don't reply. You can't. Every muscle in your body feels frozen except that one finger.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
You watched the phone dim, but the name of the contact seemed to stay just as bright, even when the light is as low as it can be, “Matty. DO NOT TEXT.” glows on your screen. The warning was added against your will after a few too many drunk almost-phone calls.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
It’s an hour later when the phone dies. You knew it was coming, watching the percentage of charge drop slowly. You got the 15% warning. Then the 5%. But still, you did the same thing until the screen finally went black.
 Tap. Tap. Tap.
You don't need the phone to be lit up to remember what the message said anyway. You’d read it a thousand times over already. You’d analysed it, broken it down, performed autopsies on every single word, each letter was scorched into your brain.
“Hey y/n, long time no talk.
I hope you got my letter, if you didn't read it, that's okay. You already know everything I said. You always knew me better than I did.
Anyway, I know this is a long shot, but it's my birthday party next week, and I just can't imagine celebrating without you there. All I can think about is my last birthday, me and you in Hawaii. I don't expect it to be like that, but I would love it if you came. Even if you just had one drink, we don't have to talk. You can wave at me across the room and stay far, far away. Treat me like I've got the plague for all I care, but just come, please.
Give an old man his birthday wish?
See you there, maybe. I hope so, anyway.
Matty x”
You want to do the same to the text that you did to his letter, burn it to a crisp. But that doesn't exactly seem feasible, considering your phone was £500, and probably not flammable. plus, you had blisters on your fingers for weeks after the letter, and you dont know if it's worth it again.
But you can't deny that the blisters were oddly comforting. Reminding you what you did every time something brushed your digits, that he was gone, and you had the power. The ball was in your court, and you intended it to stay there.
And it was there for months. But Matty ruined that by sending that message, he got the power back whether he intended to or not. And it was made even worse by him telling Charli, and her endless phone calls begging you to come.
You’re so good at telling her its not going to happpen, and every message that comes in gets a firm “no.” or just gets point-blank ignored. She begs, saying that she needs a friend there and that she'll even let you choose a few songs for George’s DJ playlist. But you stay strong, shaking your head and sighing, insisting you've moved on, that chapter of your life is closed, and you'd like to keep it that way.
So you can't help but wonder how you ended up dressed up on a Saturday night standing outside of Matty’s house, bottle of wine gripped in your shaking hands and the distinct noise of your heels clicking against the pavement as you walk towards the house you've done everything you can to forget.
✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿
As soon as you walk in, you can tell the house is different from how you left it. Obviously, the strobe lights and birthday balloons were new, but even ignoring those, the whole space felt wrong. Even more unforgiving and cold, which was impressive considering every inch was covered with people, dancing and chatting. Still, a lifeless air hung around.
Your eyes darted around, finding the places that you used to occupy. The painting you bought Matty no longer hangs on the wall, replaced by yet another award. You can't help but feel bitter when you see the poster celebrating the album full of songs about you. The spot where your mug used to sit on the counter was empty, but the dark stained ring of coffee remained, forcing you to fight a small smile. maybe he hadn't completely erased you, even if he tried.
People recognise you immediately, and they don't hide their shock well. They might think that they do, smoothly recovering from their initial surprise, but they don't. You see their wide eyes and disbelieving glances, each person acting like you're a ghost haunting the house you once lived in.
You play pretend along with them, smiling as best you can and answering all their questions.
"How's work?"
"How have you been?"
"you seen any good films lately?"
but, you both know you're dancing around the one question they really want to be answered.
why the fuck were you here?
Eventually, the people stop coming, and Charli finds you, plying you with drinks and half-slurred thanks as she begs you to stay for just 5 more minutes. You agree, only because you have yet to catch a glimpse of the birthday boy, and that made everything just bearable.
You quickly regret that decision when you see him not even a minute later, standing by George in the DJ booth smoking a cigarette and laughing in that contagious way he always did. High pitched giggles and his head thrown back.
But he doesn't see you, so it's still okay. You can hang on a few seconds more. Your chest might be tightening with every moment, but you're not suffocating yet.
However, when a tall blonde girl walks over and starts making out with him, it suddenly starts to feel like the room is on fire, and you’re choking on the invisible smoke. The burn of the flames starts to feel all too real when he pulls away from her, though, and his eyes find yours as if they're magnetised together.
The realisation falls over his face immediately, dropping his hand from around her waist and trying desperately to weave through the crowd surrounding him. You don't stay to see if he breaks through the sea of people, already rushing out as fast as you can, forcing your cup into a stranger's hand and moving as fast as your legs can take you.
✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿
“y/n, stop.” You hear Matty’s voice behind you as you storm out his front door, but you don't turn. It sounds muffled, like you're being pulled underwater, and someone is screaming at you to get up. But the waves keep on pulling you deeper, and his voice becomes more faint with every step you take.
Yet, as soon as the cold air fills your lungs and his skin finally touches yours, you're pulled out. You spin around as soon as his fingers graze your shoulder, acting like even his touch is painful as you wrench away.
It was finally here, the time you were dreading. The time when it was just you, him, and everything that remained unsaid.
His eyes held yours as the silence of the night surrounded you, and you couldn't help but study him like you always did. He looked different. Not better or worse, just different. The colourful lights in the house had been hiding his features.
He had more lines on his face, deeper ones on his forehead, but the ones around his mouth had lightened, his smile lines fading. You could still tell even when it was slicked back with heavy gel that more grey streaks danced through his curls.
His eyes were the same, though. Always so telling, so revealing. If you wanted to know exactly what Matty Healy was thinking, look in his eyes. They spoke more than he did. Which sounds absurd if you’d ever had a conversation with him, but you'd bet your life on it.
You almost start to soften at the sight of him, old memories flooding back. Flashes of warm sun and hot kisses, filthy sex followed by soft breakfasts in bed. But then he speaks. Why do men always do that? Just as you're thinking about saying something and trying defusing the situation, they open their stupid mouth.
“Where are you going?” he asks softly, his chest heaving as he desperately sucks in oxygen, his lungs fighting to catch up.
“Home, Matty. I shouldn't have come. I don't even know why you invited me.” You try to spin and walk away, to finally move on. But of course, Matty’s voice drags you back under once again, and the same water fills your lungs.
“stay, please. i dont know why i invited you either, but I did. I didn't expect you to come. I just-” Matty stutters as he speaks as if his brain can't catch up with his mouth, things pour out that he doesn't mean. And he knows it. It's crystal clear as soon as his wide eyes shoot open, processing what he had really just said.
He didn't expect you to come? He put you through all this and didn't think you'd show up? What was the point then? Was it just to hurt you? Did he just want to see if he could? to see if his name popping up would have the same effect it always did, make you come running to him?
Your body moves without thinking, turning to face Matty with fires burning in your eyes, "You didn't think I would come? Then why the fuck did you even invite me, Matty?! to flaunt your new girlfriend? to try and "win" the breakup? Well congratulations, you've fucking won. I'm sure that model hanging off your arm is just perfect for you.” sarcasm drips from your every word, burning Matty like acid rain.
“No! It's not like that. I don't know. I think- I think I was just scared we’d never be in the same place again. That I would love you for the rest of my life, but I’d never see you again.” his voice softens as he speaks, and you almost want to give in, to crumble at his gentle tone and warm eyes. But he can't still love you, it seems impossible when you go back and see the destruction he left behind.
“That's what a breakup is, Matty. And did you ever think about me? About what I want? I can't help but think that maybe that would've been better. If being in the same room as you means feeling like this, I don't ever want to see you again.” You spit back angrily.
Matty's nostrils flare before he speaks, and you can see the anger building inside him. It takes a lot to get Matty to shout, but you can tell with every second you're making him inch closer. And you don't know why that makes you feel so good, but if you're honest, you don't want to know.
You want to keep going, keep pushing. You want him to act like he did that night. You needed to see it again. You needed to know he couldn't ever forget the night you're forced to remember.
“y/n, I don't- I just don't know what to say to you. What do you want from me? Do you want me to say that saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do? That it ripped my heart out of my chest? That it fucking destroyed me? It did. Of course it did, you always made me feel everything. Losing you was no different.” You heard the way Matty’s voice cracked the more he spoke, but you ignored it. If he wanted to pull the dagger out of your heart, it was his job to deal with the bleeding.
“It didn't feel that hard when you stopped coming home at night. Or when you were fucking screaming at me. Or even that night when you walked out the door, you made it look pretty fucking easy that night. Because that's how it was Matty, you left. So don't come to me bitching and whining that it destroyed you. It's your fault. All of this is your fault.” you feel your voice wavering, but you suck in another breath, refusing to let him see you weaken, to see that wall you built start to break down.
“I deserved a better goodbye, Matty. If the goodbye you gave me hurt, the one I deserved would have fucking killed you.” You poke Matty in the chest harshly, pushing him back on his unsteady feet.
Streetlights flicker above you, the severe light dancing across Matty’s features. As long as you can remember, this light was busted, flicking on and off at will. It used to annoy you, distract you at night when the light poured through the curtains of Matty's bedroom.
Tonight, however, you loved it. No one could hide what they were really feeling under the harsh yellow glow. It seemed to pull every emotion to the surface of your face, illuminating even the darkest parts you wanted to hide.
So it was easy to spot when anger reared its ugly head in Matty. This time, he doesn't push it back. He physically can't.
He needs you to know that it did kill him to say goodbye, and that you can see that. he needs to understand how you can’t you see that he's the shell of the man he once was as he stands here?
“I apologised to you. I know you got my letter. Thanks for the response, by the way, a great way for us to get closure for whatever the fuck this was.” venom drips from every word that falls from his lips, and you have to fight to hide the smirk brewing on your face.
Finally. Finally, he was angry. He was pissed off. This is what you needed. You need the big fight, the final breakdown. Just one more time, you tell yourself, just one more screaming match, and you can move on.
A scoff involuntarily is ripped from your chest, as if you can't believe the utter bullshit coming from the man across from you. “I'm sorry, you think you deserve a response? What would I say in it, “Oh Matty, I'm so sorry! You're so right. Please let me come over so we can fuck all night!!” I know I'm not your usual airhead type, but you have to think more of me than that”
Your voice is high and piercing as you speak, and you know it. It always was when you started to get riled up. However, in this moment, you didn't care. You just needed something to happen, for him to get just as annoyed as you've been for fucking months.
“You don't think I deserved anything, though? Not even an acknowledgement?” his incredulous eyes met yours, begging you to take everything back and say you're sorry too, that it wasn't just his fault, even if he knew that wasn't true.
“Why should I? You never acknowledged my feelings. I don't think you asked me how I felt in the last month of our relationship.” Wet tears start brewing at your lashline. You want to fight them falling. But you can't, your resolve weakening with every second he stands in front of you.
“you know, that night we broke up, I realised something. you hadn't said you loved me in weeks. I said it every morning. But you'd hum back, or nod, or hug me. But you never actually said it.” Matty tries to cut in, and you already know what he wants to say. But you don't let him, powering through his half started words and desperate eyes.
After a few shaky breaths, your words start pouring again, “You treated saying “I love you” just like how you treated saying sorry. Like it would kill you to even think it. You've still never properly apologised for how you treated me, never said it to my face. But when we were together, I found myself saying sorry thousands of times over for feeling anything. I felt guilty for being pissed off at you, like I was doing something wrong. But I had every right to be! You had become a man I didn't even recognise, and for some reason, I still loved you, even when I shouldn't have. But at the time, I didn't see that. All I saw was you hurting. And because all I do is care, I wanted to stay. To stay for you, for us. Our family.”
Seconds pass, but they feel like minutes. The harsh wind blowing between you whistling through the street. Your eyes can't be dragged away from Matty’s, tears falling freely between the two of you.
And suddenly, you don't want him to be angry any more, you don't want this all to happen. You wish you could go back, never come here. But time doesn't work like that, so you’re stuck with tears pouring down your face as you stare at the man you once thought was the love of your life.
“Do you still have feelings for me?” Matty whispers, and you could see the desperation on his face, wet eyes tracing your every feature.
In that moment, he didn't know what he wanted your answer to be.
If you said no, it would kill him. Every ember of hope smouldering inside him would be burnt out, never to be relit.
But if you said yes, he doesn't know if he can let go. If you say you still feel anything for him, he knows he’ll be looking for you in every universe until he finds the one where you stay.
“I won't ever not love you, Matty. No matter how many times I tell myself I've moved on or that my life is better without you in it. I will always love you, and that's fucking agonising.” you sniffle as you speak, and you almost want to laugh at the absurdity of it all. How did you go from screaming at each other to professing your everlasting love?
Matty wants nothing more in that moment than to start begging you to come back, telling you how you can make it work, to talk about what he would do to get you back. But he knows he shouldn't, so he doesn't.
“Annie still thinks about you all the time you know,” Matty says, and your chest hurts from the whiplash of this conversation, jumping between memories of your old life so fast its almost unbearable. But you knew Matty. He needed to jump around to stay sane, so you jumped with him.
“I know, I remember you saying in the letter that she stopped asking when I was coming back. Is that true?” your voice drops again, as if you were sharing secrets at a sleepover.
“I thought it would be easier when she stopped asking, maybe then I'd not spend every waking hour thinking of you. But when the day came, it wasn't easier. It was like watching you leave right in front of me all over again. It brought me back to walking into the house for the first time after you left, looking at the empty space and trying to figure out how to fill it. Annie was filling it by asking about you, but suddenly she wasn't, and that glaring hole in my life was back." Matty's voice breaks as he speaks, but he clears his throat and tries to ignore it.
"I realised then that I'll never not think about you. Even if no one talks about you. Even if I never see you again, I'll still think of you.” Matty sucks in a shaky breath as soon as the words stop pouring out of him. His lungs seemed like they were sticking together with every word he said, and it felt like death. But he couldn't stop the rush of words, so he let the death surround him.
“Tell her I said hi” you reply meekly, not sure what to say in response to Matty’s outpour.
“I won't” matty says, forcing a half smile and chuckle that you half-heartedly return.
Once again, the blanket of silence surrounds the two of you, enveloping you in a way that feels all too familiar. So you break it, not letting yourself fall back into old patterns.
"i just dont understand how it all happened so quickly. how did you go from a stranger to the love of my life, only then to become someone I wish was a stranger all over again?" You whisper, your shaking hands coming to cup Matty's wet cheeks as you step closer. His hands wrap around your waist instantly, pulling you in and holding you so tight it almost hurts.
Silence hangs between the two of you. But its no longer painful or awkward, stilted or angry. It was a silence of acceptance, an acknowledgement that this had to be the final goodbye. There was no erasing the past, the demons that followed the two of you couldn't be ignored. So you were done, this was it.
Eventually, you pull away, and your face hovers in front of Matty’s for a few beats too long. You want to give him a final kiss, a proper goodbye. and you swear you can almost feel his lips against yours, taste the salty tears that would fall from your eyes. You don't, though. Your hands drop from his wet cheeks, and you walk away.
Every fibre inside you wants to turn around and go back to him. It feels impossible to face the future with the person you planned to spend it with standing 10 steps behind. But you do, moving forward and trying not to mourn the life you know you can never get back.

here's some modern au/no upside down au/no supernatural elements au head canons of mine that are kind of stupid Stobin Edition (this is all to get in the minds of their characters in my text fics lol) a list:
Steve and Robin are sending each other selfies while on the toilet. They are having in-depth conversations about their bathroom breaks. They are having a phone, speaker on, conversation while using the toilet. One of them's already in the bathroom? The other is barging into that unlocked bathroom to continue a conversation. "Hey, Steve, hand me that new roll of tp?" Steve tosses it with a quick shout of, "Alley-oop!"
They are watching Chopped while eating dinner (a frozen meal they added garlic seasoning to). They are criticizing every last little detail.
Robin helps Steve with his frosted highlights. He touches up her roots. They are gossiping about their neighbors and their on-again, off-again marriage.
Robin is constantly criticizing Steve for using an Elf bar. They will, however, throw back enough shots to consider themselves hazards.
They are karaoke partners. Even when they're in relationships with their respective partners (Eddie and Chrissy in this AU), they always perform with each other. Robin makes Steve sing some Chappell Roan, he knows none of the lyrics, he ends up just being her hype-man.
Steve is a big Stardew Valley and The Sims 4 fan. Robin indulges in Animal Crossing. Eventually, Steve forces Robin to play Stardew with him and Robin does the same with Animal Crossing. (They both enjoy their games).
They have matching build-a-bear stuffies that they dressed up to look like each other. Each with a sound button that plays out an "I love you" from the other + them breaking down into giggles in the background (they were there with each other when they recorded the voice boxes, they simply couldn't stop snickering each time they tried to get the messages recorded).
When they're drunk at home, they are curling up on the couch to watch reruns of Friends and to eat straight out of a tub of butterscotch ice cream. They fall asleep curled into each other and their respective partners (Eddie and Chrissy again) take care of them; Chrissy covers them with a blanket and Eddie takes a photo that will eventually be printed and go up on the wall (to sit with the other ones already pristinely framed).
Steve sometimes goes into Robin's room and just face plants into her bedding and screams. Robin comforts him by petting his hair and prompting, "Another stupid customer?" And Steve just goes off. Robin does the same to him from time to time, but she does it significantly less so.
They go to the zoo/aquarium and point at all the paired animals and say, "That's us." Their favorite pairing is a platonic set of sea otters that are constantly holding hands or helping the other retrieve food. (Sometimes they leave crying).
They go on plenty of 3am drives when the other can't sleep. Blasting music and laughing the entire time. Stopping at a gas station to get slurpees. Going home when the sun is up and then falling asleep in one of their beds.
Constantly giving each other the weirdest nicknames possible. At one point, Robin was just Bobby Flay for two weeks straight.
They buy a whole cheesecake from Wal-Mart and then go drive around town, while eating slices the entire time. (Totally not based on experience lol)
Robin always throws Steve a little birthday party because it's the one thing he never really got with his parents and he never knows what he actually wants to do on his birthday.
Steve takes Robin out for birthday pancakes and fro-yo. And then always finds an antique mall to let her loose in (she spends an hour inside just the first three booths).
On that last note, Robin is an antique mall girly, always looking for mugs, sweaters, vinyls, and horror novellas. Steve likes going into collector's shops for three things: baseball cards, Funko Pops, and Amazing Spider-Man comics.
Robin drags Steve to the local soccer/football team's games. Steve takes her to hockey games.
They paint each other's nails and gossip. Steve picks out a pale orange and Robin goes for a dark purple.
Matching costumes on Halloween (even if they've got their partners). Ketchup and mustard. Scarecrow and Tin Man. Batman and Robin (you know who's who). Their best ones were Peter Pan and Tinerbell (guess who was Tinkerbell)
Instead of how they met in the show, they met in high school. In detention of all places. Robin was tardy for the third time that week to her third period class. And Steve was caught trying to leave campus to get lunch. They still have that very emotional bathroom scene, just in a public high school men's bathroom (disgusting, I know).
Steve doesn't come out to Robin until he's like twenty-one/twenty-two. It takes him being on his own for three/four years at that point to finally feel safe enough to come out. His parents are very conservative. (Also, for extra angst on this one, his family eventually finds out at Thanksgiving—where he is then told to leave and then he's shunned. He becomes a Buckley that same day when he goes to Robin's parents' house to seek her out. It's the first Thanksgiving where he's allowed to be himself.) Also...Steve is gay. Comphet Steve Harrington...yeah. Yeah.
Brunch at a Mexican restaurant: margarita pitcher, sizzling fajitas, and people watching. The perfect best friend date to them.
Still work at Scoops Ahoy! just after they meet in school.
Instead of Family Video, they end up working at a local music shop. That's where Steve meets Eddie, browsing through the Metallica tapes for his refurbished Walkman. Chrissy is hanging out with Eddie the next time he comes in. Robin then meets Chrissy, who is searching for a girl in red vinyl (she gets so excited to lead Chrissy over there. and to then recommend her a bunch of artists. she nearly faints when she gets Chrissy's number)
Okay. That's all I've got for now. Maybe more later.

UH-OH! a comic about being trans. by me. part one of probably three :]
i felt bad about being transmasc so i decided to just give up and write about it until i hopefully didnt. i feel a little better getting this all on digital paper but there's still. a lot to draw. so. oops
i'll be posting the next parts. whenever they're ready (which will hopefully be soon) and linking them all here, so whenever you want just check back with the base post and i'll prolly add some links and maybe clean things up. yay!
text transcript / partial ID under the cut!
transcript:
looking back, there were a few signs i might have been trans.
[a sequence of events showing little me flinching and going "ow" at being called his deadname, little me reading a book and going "haha im like a tomboy but i dont like sports or being active or anything im just. a boy. haha", and little me having an active breakdown, crying and holding his glasses, with partially obscured text in a dark cloud around him. the only text visible shows his thoughts, and shows he's worrying that he's sexist for mostly only liking and relating to boy characters.]
...some.
however.
there were also a few things i considered signs of me not being trans at all.
EXHIBIT A:
[a drawing of little me, looking at his 3ds. he's thinking "as long as i make sure that i always play as the 'main girl character' in these games i wont cry because im a girl because i wont be me as a girl i'll be Them. roleplaying. as them".]
no dysphoria.
[caps] EXHIBIT B: [end caps]
[a crude drawing of little me staring at nothing. he's thinking "i don't hate women. and i don't like being mean to other people."]
[caps] I WAS A FEMINIST. [end caps]
and not toxically masculine.
i knew about trans people, but i didn't know trans MEN existed.
[a drawing of little me, with the caption "clueless". he's staring slightly up, and saying "huh?!"]
my mom was nonbinary, with a few trans friends, but people [caps] WANTING??? TO BE MEN??? [end caps]
to be
gross,
disgusting,
hateful,
cruel,
oppressive,
men?
[the background slowly gets darker until it reaches the final word, and that word is a significantly bigger font than the rest of the words.]
for a while, primarily due to my lack of research
[drawing of little me, staring at his computer (which is labeled "deviantArt machine") and going 'huh'.]
i figured, if i WAS trans, I was probably a trans women.
but of course, that was silly
you can't be a trans woman if you're already afab.
and there's no other ways of being trans,
right?
[a crudely-drawn drawing of a deviantArt favorite's tab. none of the favorited pieces have any detail, though several are the same width and length as classic deviantArt stamps.]
hm.
hmmmmm...
[a crudely-drawn drawing of a representation of one of the favorited stamps. it's a massive, pink stamp with the text "SHE/HER!" in it in all caps and pink lettering. bottom text states it is a "she/her pronouns badge by ...", though the rest is cut off.]
HMMMM...
[a picture of a mouse hovering over the 'favorite/unfavorite' button. the star is filled in, indicating clicking it would unfavorite the piece.]
[two wordless panels, side-by-side, showing little me staring at his screen, hovering his cursor over the unfavorite button.]
[two more panels, showing that little me has unfavorited the she/her badge. the panel showing his face shows he is grinning wildly, his hair has poofed up in excitement, and his glasses are now blue-ish purple.]
OHO!!!!!!!!!!!!1
.................and that's
quite literally
how it happened.
before i knew how bad the entire site was, i would frequent dA. CONSTANTLY.
it was baby's very first "social media" webpt site.
[a drawing of a tiny, cartoonish kitten with a small turf of hair, staring at wonder up at a computer, one hand on the mousepad. it is labeled "dramatic reenactment of me making my d a account."]
i wasn't really SHELTERED as a kid, i just didnt know fuck for shit, and my baby anxiety made learning annoyingly hard.
so i turned to memes as a sort of wire mother as opposed to my real, cloth one.
jokes can be easier to understand than reality, sometimes.
(this isnt a good thing.)
so, i sort-of-came-out on deviantart, home of the wacky, wild and weird, where i learned he/him pronouns were an option, and a choice.
[a drawing of little me, with blue glasses, gazing up at the sky and smiling triumphantly.]
and some crazy trauma but that's for a different comic. if i make it.
[a drawing of little me being hit with a cartoonish star, which is meant to represent the trauma.]
sooo...
that's it, right?
[little me, with a cartoony bandage on his head, gently rubbing his wound.]
my mom was supportive & anyone who wasn't ...isn't in the picture now
that's the end
...right?.
end transcript.

Rewrite the Stars
Summary: Austin is feeling homesick while filming Elvis and gets one hell of a birthday surprise!
Rating: General Audiences
Words: 3.6K (I swear this was meant to be a quick drabble, and yet here I am finishing this at almost five in the morning...oops?)
Warnings: Lots of pining from our boi here
Author's Note: This was written for @foreverdolly. I hope this fills the pining!Austin feels you were hoping for! Perhaps if this gets enough likes (and if school and work permits me), I’ll write a part two! A couple of minor details- I headcanoned Austin here as more of a serial dater rather than anything involving Vanessa. It felt more suitable, given the pining angle I’m going for. Also, I wrote this like COVID never happened because that is a reality I’m sure we’d all love to live in right now. Enjoy!
Austin knew that filming Elvis would be hard. One doesn’t go into a project about a beloved figure of American pop culture thinking it will be a walk in the park. Hell, the months-long audition process made that abundantly clear. But the most challenging part wasn’t the months and months of vocal training, singing lessons, costume fitting, or reading every possible book and watching every video about Elvis Aaron Presley he could get his hands on.
It was being away from his friends and family.
It was just him alone in an apartment halfway across the globe from the place and people he called home. It didn’t matter how many FaceTime calls he made with his sister Ashley or his childhood best friend Y/N or how many care packages they sent filled with his favorite snacks. Eventually, the calls ended, and the snacks were eaten.
His birthday was around the corner, although he was surprised he even registered that it was close. He texted Y/N to see if maybe you would be able to fly down for a quick visit. He even offered to pay for your plane ticket and introduce her to Baz, one of your favorite directors. That morning while he was in hair and makeup, you texted back, “Get me a spot on the soundtrack, and you got a deal!”
He snorted at the reference to the joke you made when he told you that he got the part…after screaming and crying out of excitement and happiness for him. You were the first person he wanted to tell when he got the news. You had been the one that encouraged him to go for the part in the first place. It had become a tradition between the two of you. Celebrating each other’s big moments. He remembered the day you told him about your record deal. He always believed you had the talent to follow your dreams. Growing up, you always wrote poetry and bits of songs, and the two of you constantly played guitar and piano in your room. It was one of the few spaces he felt comfortable enough to be himself. You never got frustrated with his shyness or anxiety, even agreeing to play in the dark to make him feel more comfortable. When you won your first Grammy, he was in the crowd, clapping until his hands ached.
Your subsequent text made his heart sink. “In all seriousness, I wish I could be there for your b-day. (Don’t think I forgot!) But I’m in the middle of recording my next album and my producer is a workhorse. I’m so sorry, Aus.”
“It’s okay,” he texted back. “It’s just 29. Should be done with filming before I turn 30 and we can do that one big!”
You sent back thumbs-up and blue heart emojis, and he tucked his phone into his pocket. There was a small lump in his throat. He closed his eyes for a moment. The last thing he wanted to do was cry over something so dumb. Because it was dumb! People didn’t stop living their lives back home just because he was in Australia. Jobs had to be done, bills had to be paid, and his feeling homesick like a little kid didn’t change that. His sister had sent back a similar response when he asked if she could come for a visit. He told her he understood and to not worry about him.
“Are you all right, Austin?”
He opened his eyes to his makeup artist Trisha looking at him in the mirror. She had a gift for reading his moods. Sometimes, he wished she wasn’t so accurate. He shrugged and mumbled, “Just got a disappointing text from home.”
“Sorry to hear that,” she said. She stayed silent for a moment, brushing more bronzer onto his face. “Want to talk about it?”
The lump in his throat hurt to talk around. “Not really.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day before his birthday, Baz picked Austin up at his apartment. He had a coffee waiting and was listening to the usual Elvis Presley playlist. He had long stopped being surprised by the Australian director’s eccentric nature. What surprised him was Baz didn’t drive them directly to set. Austin looked at the older man and asked, “Where we goin’?”
Baz just shrugged as he flipped on the turn signal. “The airport.”
This confused Austin. He tried to mask this by joking, “Is this your way of telling me I’m fired?”
That prompted a laugh out of Baz. “Nothing of the sort. I’m just picking up a friend. Flying them in for a special cameo for the film. I thought you’d like to tag along.”
“I’m not needed on set?”
“That is the beauty of being the director,” Baz replied with a grin. “I determine where you’re needed.”
Austin picked up the coffee Baz bought him and took a sip. “That’s not ominous at all, Mr. Luhrman.”
The two of you spent the rest of the drive discussing work. What Baz had planned, any concerns Austin may have, and what could be done to fix them. He loved working with Baz. He was unlike any director Austin had worked with previously. The man had a vision but never let that stop him from treating his cast and crew respectfully. Austin’s time in Hollywood had shown him what a rare quality that was in a director.
Before they knew it, they had arrived at the Brisbane airport. Baz had been tight-lipped about who exactly they were coming to get. He was happy he took care of getting dressed this morning. The weather flipped down in the Southern Hemisphere, so he woke up to a cold snap that morning. He put on a navy cashmere sweater Ashley bought him before he left. The closer his birthday got, the more intense his homesickness felt.
Baz parked the car, and the two of them headed inside. They were stopped a couple of times by fans eager for a selfie or an autograph. Austin watched as a young woman told Baz how she was inspired by his work to go to film school. He gave her some words of wisdom and agreed to take a photo with her. It was touching to witness and a lesson on how to talk with fans. Finally, they arrived at the area where people waited for arrivals. Austin turned and asked, “Gonna let me in on who we’re meeting?”
Baz looked up from his phone and simply gestured in the distance. Austin turned to where Baz was pointing and thought his heart would stop. It was Ashley and Y/N! They were here in Australia! Austin turned back to Baz, who simply said, “Happy birthday, son.”
Austin wasted no time sprinting toward the two women. He pulled his big sister in for a hug first, squeezing her tight and saying through tears, “If this is a dream, I hope I never wake up.”
He felt Ashley rub his back. “This is very real, little brother. And you have Baz and Y/N to thank for all this.”
He pulled away from his sister to see you standing there. Your eyes were glassy with tears even as you joked, “Well if you weren’t going to get me on the soundtrack, I figured I had to do it myself.”
Austin choked out a laugh and picked you up, spinning you around and squeezing you tight. His nickname for you growing up was Tink because of your tiny frame and fiery temper. When he finally set you down, he looked down at you as you explained, “Me and Ashley have been worried about you lately. You seemed really blue. So, I did the L.A. thing: I had my people reach out to Baz’s people and ask if we couldn’t arrange a surprise for your birthday.”
By this point, Baz had joined all three of you. He clapped Austin on the back and said, “I know that the Method is all the rage in Hollywood, but I don’t see sense in tormenting yourself needlessly. We can put production on pause for a little bit. Spend some time with these beautiful women who love you very much.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That night, the three of you decided to stay at Ausitn’s place and order takeout later that evening. You were slightly more experienced with jetlag, but Ashley required a late afternoon nap. That gave the two of you time to catch up. Austin asked how work on your new album was going and just let your voice live and in person wash over him. You wore one of his t-shirts and a pair of sweatpants. Your hair was in a messy bun on top of your head, and your face was covered with one of those Korean skincare masks you loved. But to Austin, plain or dressed for a red carpet, you were the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
He had always been a little in love with you. The timing never seemed to be on his side enough to make a move. As a teen, he was intimidated by your sudden rise to fame through MySpace. One day, you were posting songs you wrote, then suddenly, you had a record deal and were playing across the country. The last thing you needed was some awkward guy next to you whose biggest claim to fame was bit parts on iCarly and Hannah Montana.
As you both got older and started dating people, Austin figured maybe the two of you were meant to be just friends. He remembered watching a movie with that phrase as the title and the rant you went on after the movie ended.
“I swear to God,” you raged, “guys feel like just because they have feelings for a woman and treat her like a human being, that makes them entitled to sex with us! It’s disgusting! ‘Nice guys finish last’ is such misogynistic bullshit.”
You looked at him after finishing and squeezed his arm. “I’m so glad you’re not like that, Austin. You are rare among your gender.”
He never wanted to be that for you, either. He loved you as a person before he fell in love with you. The last thing he wanted was to be another creep trying to get into your pants. You had a long-term boyfriend, Trevor, who Austin could not stand. He was also a musician, and you met while on tour for your second album. It seemed like a match made in heaven. But Trevor had a nasty habit of comparing your careers, with his being more “legitimate” because he didn’t have to use the internet to become successful. It was a point he learned not to bring up around you or Austin unless he was ready for an argument to ensue.
“You know you’re going to have to introduce me to Tom Hanks,” you said, your eyes bright with excitement. “You know Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies of all time. God knows how often I’ve watched Toy Story, Sleepless in Seattle, or You’ve Got Mail. I practically grew up with Tom Hanks!”
Austin grinned. “Ah, and so the true motivation for this trip emerges.”
“Oh, you were just a great bonus,” you teased as you removed your mask and massaged the excess product into your skin. “I’m here to see Woody.”
Austin laughed. Your presence melted away all of the angst he had been feeling lately. His whole body felt relaxed and at ease for the first time in months. At this moment, he didn’t have to worry about being ready for the set or rehearsing the same sequence for hours on end. He could just be Austin.
He reached out to squeeze your hand. You smiled and squeezed his back. His voice cracked as he whispered, “I’m so happy you’re here.”
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” you replied.
You reached out to pull his head down and kissed his forehead. He couldn’t stop himself from encircling your wrist with his hand as you did. You pulled away slightly, and for a moment, you both breathed the same air. Your eyes connected. It could be so easy. He could just lean forward and do what he had been dreaming about for ages. He rubbed your inner wrist and found a racing pulse. You were so close. But…he wouldn’t do that to you. Austin knew how you felt about cheating, no matter how innocent the act was.
He was the first to break the moment. Clearing his throat, he pulled away and said, trying to force a laugh, “Don’t let Trevor hear you say that. How’s he doing, by the way? Still on tour?”
Something fell over your eyes at that moment. Before he could question it, you laughed harshly and said, “Yup, still touring. I think he’s still pissed because I told him I didn’t want his help on my next album. He’s been weird since I helped improve one of his singles by making it a duet. So now he’s needlessly looking for “improvements” in my work.”
Leave his sorry ass, Austin wanted to snap. You’re twice the songwriter he will ever be, and you deserve someone who recognizes true talent. The words were on the tip of his tongue. Instead, he said, “I’m sorry. Maybe it’s just a rough patch?”
“Yeah, maybe,” you replied. “But…they seem to be coming more frequently here lately.”
Scrubbing your face, you jumped up and said, “Bleh, enough about Trevor. Let’s see if Ashley has recovered enough so we can order something to eat. I’m starving!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People could never say that Baz Luhrmann was a subtle man. For Austin’s birthday the following evening, he rented a restaurant with an adjoining karaoke bar. This surprise party had been well-planned. Catherine even decorated the space and ensured the manager secured any recording devices from non-guests. When the trio arrived, Austin hugged Baz and Catherine and thanked them for such kindness and generosity. Ashley wore a dusty rose off-the-shoulder dress with an A-line skirt that looked gorgeous. You looked stunning in a black cocktail dress inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s, complete with an updo and tiara. When you finally emerged from Austin’s bedroom, he mumbled, “Hello, gorgeous.”
You winked and said, “Thanks, but wrong movie.”
There was the usual dinner and giving of gifts. Baz, Tom, and others gave speeches, praising Austin so much that by the end, he was a puddle of tears and emotion. At the end of the dinner, he couldn’t say more than, “Thank you for all over this. Making this movie and being here with all of you has been one of the best experiences of my life. I will carry it with me and treasure it always.”
Once the dinner concluded, the party moved to the karaoke bar. Baz and you, as Austin figured, got along like a house on fire. Both of you were music nerds and kept trying to outdo each other in karaoke performances. You won the night with a spirited rendition of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary that saw your heels kicked into the crowd, your updo wholly wrecked, and Olivia holding your tiara as she screamed and cheered. As you exited the stage, Baz stood and bowed, saying, “I know when I’m beaten. Now, what’s this about you wanting to be on the soundtrack?”
A few others took turns on the stage. Dacre, Luke, and Adam tried to sing together to Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl. Tom and Rita sang I Got You, Babe before bidding everyone good night. Olivia, Ashley, Catherine, and you giggled through Wannabe by the Spice Girls. After the song ended, Olivia, Ashley, and Catherine teetered their way back off stage, but you remained. Putting a hand on your hip, you said into the microphone, “Mr. Butler…you are the only one who has not sung this evening. It’s time we fixed that. Get your ass up here!”
Everyone began chanting Austin’s name until he shrugged off his jacket and tie and joined you on stage. You had a look on your face that seemed both nervous and excited. Ever the performer, you turned back to the crowd and said, “Now, D.J., before you start the song we spoke about earlier, I wanna tell everyone here a little story about Austin and me.”
“Oh Jesus,” Austin said loud enough that the mic picked him up.
“Hush you,” you smacked his shoulder. “Anywho, me and Austin have a favorite pastime back home of watching bad movies together. It’s kind of like Mystery Science Theater 3000, snarking comments and all. Well, one of our favorites to watch is The Greatest Showman.”
This prompted boos and shouts from the crowd, to which you replied, “I know, I know. The movie made over a billion, and Hugh Jackman is your national treasure.”
You paused to allow people to cheer for their man before continuing, “But as an American…the movie is ridiculous. P.T. Barnum was a dick who did not deserve the talents of Mr. Hugh Jackman! But that soundtrack fucking rules! There would be nights when Austin and I couldn’t sleep, and we would drive around L.A. screaming that soundtrack at the tops of our lungs!”
You finally turned back to Austin, and he felt butterflies in his stomach. You smiled at him as your voice softened. “So we’re going to sing you of those songs tonight. Apologies in advance to Zendaya and Zac. May you never see this.”
Oh, Jesus…it was that song. You motioned for him to come closer. The butterflies were now a hurricane. He was about to sing a love song in front of a crowd of people to the woman he wanted more than anything. What could possibly go wrong?
“You know I want you,” Austin began, his voice shaky with nerves. “It’s not a secret I try to hide. I know you want me. So don’t keep saying our hands tied.”
A few people cheered, sensing his nerves. He grinned, and as the verse progressed, he felt his confidence growing. The two of you had watched this movie so many times, you began doing a facsimile of the scene from the film on stage. You kept your eyes downcast, your body turned away from him, as if you were fighting against this as much as you wanted to give in. At last, you came together at the end of the chorus, Austin going so far as to put his hand around your waist and tuck your hair behind your ear as he sang, “So why don’t we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours tonight?”
You took the microphone from the stand and took a giant step back as the music continued. Austin could hear his heart pounding in his ears. The look in your eyes reminded him of the look from yesterday. You lifted the microphone and sang, “You think it’s easy? You think I don’t want to run to you? But there are mountains and there are doors that we can’t walk through.”
You began walking along the edge of the stage and gesturing to the crowd as you continued to sing. Austin followed you as he felt the desperation behind the song's words for the first time. As you sang the chorus to the audience, he led you back to the center of the stage. And what’s more, you let yourself be guided back. You placed the microphone as the chorus ended, and you both began belting the bridge.
“All I want is to fly with you! All I want is to fall with you! So just give me all of you…”
There seemed to be something in your voice as you sang of this being impossible. Was he making this up? Was it just the two of you committing to the bit, as it were? The edges started to blur for Austin. Were they blurring for you too?
“You know I want you,” you sang finally, your voice just as shaky as he was at the song's beginning. “It’s not a secret I try to hide. But I can’t have you. We’re bound to fate, and my hands are tied.”
Both of you were startled when everyone began cheering. In those brief moments, they seemed to fade into the background. Before Austin even had time to process what the hell happened, you said into the microphone, “And that’s enough from me. Austin, thank you for humoring me. Maybe we can get him to sing an Elvis song next?”
He was shell-shocked as you hurried off stage to rejoin Ashley and Olivia. He wanted to follow you. He wanted to take you somewhere quiet and private and ask a million questions. What did you mean by that song choice? Were you trying to tell him something? But before he could even think of what to do first, he heard the all-too-familiar chords of Jailhouse Rock blast from the speakers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few days after you and Ashley returned to L.A., he got an email from his big sister. She had recorded your performance of Rewrite the Stars that night. The only text in the email stated, “If this is anything to go off of, I think you can, baby brother. Don’t waste this moment.”

Hunger kink fantasy - it’s super long oops
If you want to read it I’d appreciate it but if you don’t TLDR - my partner keeps me from having food all day, keeping me starving
I am allergic to some foods and generally am a really picky eater. In this situation I do have a partner and am working as a teacher.
Before falling asleep I make sure that my alarm is set for 7am since it’s a Monday morning but my partner has other plans. They secretly wake up before me and turn my alarm off. At 7:35am they wake me saying things like “babe! I thought you were awake! You have to leave for work in 10 mins.. come on wake up!” I drag myself out of bed and change quickly. I think maybe my partner has made me breakfast and I can eat in the car but he didn’t make me anything and it’s too late for me to make myself breakfast.
I teach my morning two classes while being a little hungry but used to not eating for 10-12 hours. During snack time while the kids are eating I try to go to the canteen to grab a snack but another teacher comes to me in a frantic rush saying that there is a problem with the printer and she desperately needs worksheets printed for her class in 10 minutes so I go with her to help her print her copies.
Oh well I think lunch is in an hour I can wait. The hour passes and finally it’s lunch time! I go to the staff room fridge and realise that I forgot to bring my packed lunch cuz I was rushing in the morning! I remember that I still have some money on my card that I can pay for lunch at the canteen! When I go down tho the card reader says it’s at zero so I have to put back the food I took! At this point I am starving… I try to order food but as I am about to press order my teacher friend reminds me that we aren’t allowed to order food cuz we need to set good example for the kids. I’m all out of options by now and soo hungry.
I just remind myself it’s only another 3 hours before I can go home and eat. I text my partner and tell him how hungry I am cuz I had to skip breakfast AND lunch! They say “oh you poor thing! Why don’t we go to that nice restaurant for dinner? You can fill your tummy with all the good food there!”
The hours pass slowly while I teach, soon enough the final bell rings so I can go home yay! By the time I come home it’s almost 4pm, starving I go to look in the fridge and there is nothing!
Partner chimes in and says “oh I cleared the fridge, I ate up the leftovers and threw away the expired stuff! Aren’t you so proud of me?”
I nod and say “I’m starving! Would you mind if we just order some pizza?”
They respond with “I’m not hungry babe, we will go to that lovely restaurant at 7 I already made the booking. I hope you don’t mind I invited some friends!”
I groan and say “ I havnt eaten since last night dinner! Is there really NOTHING I can eat now? Not even a small snack?”
They say “no baby, that homeless shelter needs snacks and you have a whole cupboard full of snacks so I donated them all… yes even the Cheetos and popcorn. Come let’s watch a movie to distract your hungry tummy!”
So we watch a Disney movie and they rubs my tummy which has started to growl, I curl up into them and hope that the times goes quickly. By 6:30pn partner tells me to go get ready and to dress pretty so I go shower and change starving at this point cuz it’s been almost 24 hours without any food. I get ready and they say “you look so thin in that dress baby, it looks so big on you!” I smile and nod. We leave for my favourite restaurant and as we are in the car they say oh shoot I forgot to tell you that “Daniel wanted to go for sushi for his birthday dinner so I couldn’t say no now could I? It’s HIS birthday after all!”
I start to cry cuz they know I don’t eat sushi and im allergic to the ginger and soya sauce they use. I ask if they can just turn around and drop me home but they say “no baby, my friends really want to see you! It’s been soo long and I already told them you would come. It would be rude for you not to come now” During dinner I am forced to sit and smile politely and tell everyone that I ate before coming when it’s been a full 24 hours of no food at this point! I get so hungry that try to take a sushi piece but partner slaps my hand and says “babe! You are allergic! You ate before coming.” I blush and keep talking to my friends. I suggest we go for ice cream but everyone is so tired and full now they all want to go home. On the drive home they keep rubbing their belly and saying they are wayy too much and are so full! I say I’m still hungry and ask again if we can pick up some food for me. Again they say “awww so cute for asking! But no baby, no food for that greedy tummy! Maybe if you wake up early tomorrow you will get breakfast!”

41 oops i did it again

Tumblr media
You walked on campus towards your next class. You left your previous class early since it’s far away. It’s tiring but you manage. You have your earbuds in and listened to your friends songs. You added some DCKZ songs too since you haven’t properly listened to their tunes yet.
As you were reaching to your destination, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You stop and take an earbud out to listen to whoever did that. You turn and see a pair of girls. You don’t know who they are so you’re wondering about what they want. “Can I help you?” You ask. One of them smirked, “Yeah, you’re yn right?” You nod slowly. “Well, we wanted to ask if it’s true.” “What’s true?” “That you have a boyfriend.”
You raised a brow. “Yes, it’s true.” “Can we see who it is?” You have your guard up now. You’re not supposed to reveal its Scaramouche or hell would come to the both of you. “Sorry but that’s private.” They giggled. “Private? So, he doesn’t exist?” You sigh, “Listen, i know all of you don’t like me but I don’t have to explain myself about my boyfriend.” They look at each other then to you. “You really don’t have a boyfriend.” “I do!” “Then show us.”
You knew those girls wouldn’t leave you alone till you showed them a picture. As much as you wanted to tell the whole world that Scaramouche is yours, you couldn’t. You had to think of something else but your friends are all celebrities. You could use Lumine and you knew she’d be okay with it but fans know she’s Aethers sister and you didn’t want to trouble her. Who knows what the fans would do knowing that information.
“Okay, hold on.” You took out your phone and rapidly texted the guys for help. The girls were growing impatient as they tried to peek. You had to turn around to hide your phone. You cursed to yourself since none of them answered. You were running out of time until Childe messaged you back. He said, “I got you.” With typos and you assumed he was busy. A photo was sent and you let a sigh of relief before turning back around to show the girls.
There eyes widen in amazement. “He’s cute, right?” You smirked even though you had no idea who that guy is. “He is.” They say and looked at each other before looking at you. “Guess we were wrong.” You sighed once more. You put your phone away and went to put back your earbud. However, it barely made it to your ear before one of the girls say, “Hey, isn’t that him?” You froze. “Say what?”
She was pointing at the direction your ‘boyfriend’ is in and your stomach dropped as you saw him. You quickly took out your phone and tapped on the photo, looking up and down and sure enough, it’s the same guy. ‘WHAT THE HELL CHILDE?!’ You were so screwed.
“What perfect timing!” She said as the other nods. “Since we’re still here, you should introduce him to us!” You jumped. “W-What? No way! It’s getting late-“ “Nonsense! HEY YNS BOYFRIEND!” They shouted and you quickly covered their mouths. “I-I’ll get him!” You ran towards the guy, grabbed his arm, and instead of going back, you went behind the main building to hide. You looked out to check that no one saw you. “Um, can I help you?” You jumped and turned to him. “S-Sorry, um, i need your help.”
“Oh?” “Y-You see. Um, i told these girls that you’re my boyfriend…” He’s startled by this. “Me?” “Yes, but you see, i can’t really tell them my actual boyfriend because of… reasons and I asked one of my friends for help and they sent me YOUR picture and you apparently go here so um…” You held his hands and bowed. “Can you please help me?!” “Okay.” “I understand if you can’t but-“ You paused and looked up. “Wait what?” He laughed then smiled. “I’ll help you.”
You wanted to cry. “You’re an angel.” You let go and the two of you started to walk back. “Uh, by the way, what’s your name?” “Thoma. Yours?” “Yn.” “Nice to meet you, Yn.” He smiled at you and you smiled back.
Once you made it, the girls surrounded Thoma in amazement. “Wow! He’s even cute up close.” He chuckled, nervously. “Thanks.” You nodded. “Now, you’ve seen him. Can we go?” They frowned. “But we want to get to know him!” Thoma shook his head. “We have classes to go to. Maybe next time?” The girls pouted. “Let’s at least get a picture!” Thoma tilted his head. “A picture?” Your eyes widen. ‘Crap, if a picture gets out of us then Scaramouche will find out.’
You stood in front of Thoma. “W-Wait!” But it was too late as a flash went off and the girls ran off. You gasped, “H-Hey!” Thoma frowned as he put a hand on your shoulder. “I’m sorry.” You sighed. “It’s not your fault, Thoma. Thank you for your help though.” He smiled with a nod. “Of course.” He started to head off and waved, “Bye, Yn.” You waved back. “Bye.” Suddenly, you felt your phone go off and you knew why.

Late Night Talking - Chapter Sixteen

“Wait … what?”
”You heard me, Dieter. I want to know if you’ll marry me.”
He took a small step away from me and looked me in the eyes. “Are you sure? I mean, absolutely sure?” His eyes were steady but so full of emotion that I almost got lost in them. Love, hope … fear.
”Yes,” I said firmly. “I had a little talk with Freddy before we left Vermont and I’ve had a lot of time to think while you’ve been filming and … it all clicked just now. This is what I want. This is where I belong. Next to you. So answer the question, Mr. Bravo. Will you marry me?”
”Yes,” he said, breaking into a goofy grin. “But only on two conditions.” He counted on his fingers. “One, you let me buy you a big ass ring and no complaining about how much it costs. And two, we wait until summer to have the wedding.”
”Because of your promise to Freddy to wait a year before you make any rash decisions?”
”No, because then the kids will be out of school and they can all come to the wedding,” he said with a wink.
”Okay, then, I accept your counter proposal. Big ass ring and a summer wedding.” I was grinning like a fool myself by this time. It was really happening. I’d seen so many friends and colleagues and cousins announce engagements over the years and honestly, I’d never thought it would happen to me, especially as I got older. Not that I cared much about getting married in the abstract, but having someone so committed to you … that was what I’d thought I’d never have. And then Dieter had shown up.
We giggled like kids. “Should we call Freddy and Leila?” Dieter asked. “They’ll freak out.”
”No, let’s wait until morning to tell anyone,” I said. “Let’s keep it our little secret, at least for a few hours.”
”Hmmm, secret engagement,” Dieter said, his voice dropping. “I like the sound of that.” He kissed my neck. “Come, my secret fiancée, let us retreat from the cold and warm each other with ardent embraces.”
”That was very cheesy, but I agree wholeheartedly,” I said. “I’m freezing my ass off out here.”
The TV was still playing as we tumbled into bed, some band I’d never heard of ringing in the new year as we warmed each other quite thoroughly.
**********************************************************
The first thing we did the next morning was call Freddy.
“Happy New Year, bro!” Dieter said when Freddy opened the FaceTime call.
Freddy yawned. “You are way too chipper for New Year’s Day, Deet.”
”Maybe because I didn’t get drunk last night,” Dieter said. “And maybe because I’m so excited.”
”About what?” Leila poked her head into the frame.
”Are the kids up?” Dieter asked.
”Oh, shit,” Freddy said. “Is this what I think it is?”
”It might be,” I said over Dieter’s shoulder. “Get the kids.”
When Sasha and Derek’s sleepy faces were in view, Dieter broke the news. “Emily asked me to marry her last night and I said yes.”
The kids screamed.
“Are you serious?,” asked Leila. “Are you fucking serious? Oops, sorry, kids.”
”Absolutely serious,” I said. “After being with you all for Christmas, I know that I want to be part of this family.”
Freddy was grinning from ear to ear, but tears were running down his face. “I’m so happy for you, man,” he said. “I didn’t think … I mean, I thought you were … I’ve never been so glad to be proved wrong in my life.”
Now Dieter was crying and I rubbed his back gently. “I told you she was The One,” he said softly.
“And you were right, Deet. You were absolutely right.”
********************************************
Next up was a text to Sam.
ME: Happy new year, chickie! I have news!
SAM: Happy new year! Hope it’s good news
ME: Are you sitting down?
SAM: Shit, you’re pregnant! Are you pregnant? I’m gonna be an auntie!!!!!
ME: No! Calm down. I’m not pregnant.
SAM: Okay, calming down. Now spill the tea!
ME: Dieter and I got engaged last night.
SAM: STOP IT! WTF! He asked you? On NYE? How romantic!
ME: Actually I asked him. And it was totally spontaneous. It just felt right.
SAM: Details!
I told her how we’d been waiting for the fireworks and the words had just slipped out of my mouth without thinking about it, and about Dieter’s counter proposal.
SAM: I want a pic of the ring when you get it. And it better be a big ass rock. You deserve it, chickie.
ME: No, I don’t deserve any of this, especially Dieter but I’m gonna take it.
**********************************
By the time we were up and dressed and ordered breakfast from room service, it was almost noon. Dieter made a few mysterious calls out on the balcony while we waited for the food.
”After we eat, we’re going ring shopping,” he announced when he came back inside. “I found a couple of jewelers that are open today. And before you say anything, I didn’t even call Tiffany because I know you’d hyperventilate just walking in there.”
The idea of even being able to consider getting a ring from Tiffany made me choke. I’d agreed to let him buy a “big ass” ring, but did I really want something that expensive on my hand every day?
“Thank you,” I said. “I don’t think I could have survived that.”
Dieter chuckled. “Yeah, but one of these days you’re gonna get a little blue box and you’re gonna like it. I promise.”
The first jeweler we went to was very stuffy and I just didn’t like the vibe. The salesman was too obsequious and kept steering us toward the biggest, most obnoxious diamonds. I caught Dieter’s eye and shook my head.
”We’ll keep you under consideration,” he said. “We’ve got a few other places on our list we need to look at first.”
The next one was a cozy place, clearly not part of a global conglomerate. The salesman was friendly, but happy to let us browse. “Just let me know if you want to see anything more closely,” he said. “And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.”
We bent over the display case, which was full of glittering diamonds and other stones. I knew I wanted something simple but elegant. Something more on the delicate side, since I had small hands.
One ring kept catching my eye, but I knew it was on the pricier end of the case, so I made myself really look at the ones on the other side.
”You like that one, don’t you?” Dieter whispered in my ear.
”Yeah, I do, but these others are nice, too.”
”Excuse me, can we see this one? The diamond with the sapphires?”
The salesman pulled the ring out and placed the box on the countertop. It was exquisite, a larger but still tasteful diamond set in the center with slightly smaller sapphires to either side. “One carat diamond, with half carat sapphires,” he told us. “Set in platinum.” He discreetly showed Dieter the price tag. I held my breath.
”Try it on,” Dieter said.
My hand was trembling as I picked up the ring and slipped it on my finger. It fit perfectly and it sparkled in the light as I held my hand up to see how it looked.
”We’ll take it,” Dieter said. “It’s perfect.” He grinned. “It was made for you, babe.”
I took a deep breath. “Are you sure?”
”One hundred thousand percent,” he said.
“Congratulations,” the salesman said. “If you’ll just step over here, sir, we can take care of all the financial details. You can have a seat over there, madam, and get acquainted with your new ring.”
I sank down into an armchair and stared at my hand. The ring was gorgeous and it was exactly the right size. It was my very own Platonic ideal of an engagement ring. I felt like I was going to throw up.
ME: Hey, chickie.
SAM: Did you get the ring yet? I want to see!
ME: Dieter’s paying right now. I’m wearing it. I think I’m having a panic attack.
SAM: Deep breath, chickie. And take a pic so I can see what’s freaking you out
I snapped a photo of my hand and posted it.
SAM: Damn. That is so you. Understated but clearly top class. I love it!
ME: I have no idea how much it cost. What if it’s tens of thousands of $$? I can’t walk around with that on my finger.
SAM: There’s some old rule that I guy should spend 2 months salary or something like that on a ring. You’re marrying a fucking MOVIE STAR. How much does he make in a month?
ME: It’s not that. I know he has money. But
SAM: And when you’re married you’ll have that money. That’s how it works, babe. Get used to it.
ME: I don’t know how to be rich
SAM: Just be you, but with a bigger budget. I know you, chickie, you’re not gonna buy stupid shit just for fun. You’re gonna buy the good stuff and you deserve it.
ME: I know. You’re right. You’re always right. I love you, chickie.
SAM: Love you right back. Now go flaunt that ring around Toronto and act like a big shot, lol
“Ready?” Dieter stood over me, looking concerned.
”Yeah, I think I am.”
*************************************************************
“So,” Dieter said as we lay on the bed that evening flipping through channels to find a good movie. “You’re heading home in a few days.”
”Yeah,” I said. “I have work on Monday.”
He laid down the remote. “Are you going to keep working? I mean, when are you going to move into my place? Right away, when I get back, after the wedding …?”
”I haven’t really thought that far ahead yet,” I admitted. “Technically, I could give my two weeks notice as soon as I get back. Or I could finish out the school year.”
”That would mean you’d still live out there,” he said. “Which is fine, if that’s what you want, but …”
I laid a finger across his lips. “I want to be with you, Dieter. I think … I think I’ll give notice on Monday. But maybe four weeks instead of two. Give them time to fly the position and get the ball rolling before I leave. You’ll be coming home around then, and I can move in once you’re there. Then I can start looking for a job closer to your place.”
He shook his head. “Actually, I had an idea about that. Well, Dom and I had an idea.” Dominic was his business manager and accountant. “See, Dieter Bravo is a corporation. I’m the CEO and he’s the CFO and we both draw salaries from the business. Most of the money is invested and stuff like that, to make sure we still get paid even if I don’t get a lot of work. Anyway … what if we put you on the payroll? You can be the Chief Operating Officer or whatever. Dom can write up the contracts, make it official. You’d be in on the quarterly board meetings and all that shit. Basically, we just go over the books and make sure all the bills and taxes and stuff are paid.”
”So you want to pay me to do nothing.” I wasn’t so sure about this idea.
”No,” he said. “There would be real job duties. I mean, I have to do stuff as CEO. It’s a legitimate business. All my marketing deals, contracts, real estate, investments, philanthropy … it all goes through the corporation. It’s really just me and Dom and a few freelance consultants he hires as we need them. We could use the help.”
He cleared his throat. “And besides, once we’re married, you’ll own half the company so you might as well have a say in it.”
I bit my lip. The last thing I wanted was to be “taken care of,” which is how my Aunt Helen saw marriage. I wanted to contribute something, even if my salary was a pittance compared to what Dieter made, but I didn’t want a sinecure.
“Only if you give me some real responsibilities,” I said. “It has to be an actual job, not just on paper.”
”Absolutely,” Dieter said. “You can meet with Dom when you get back to L.A. He’ll have some great ideas.”
****************************************************
Dominic’s office was a room in his house in Silver Lake. “Sorry about the mess,” he said as he led me through a living room strewn with Hot Wheels and My Little Ponies. “The kids aren’t as diligent about picking up after themselves now that Santa’s been and gone.”
I could hear the squeals of children from the backyard. “It’s okay,” I said. “How many do you have?”
”Two,” he said. “Elena’s five and Mario is seven.” He nodded toward the back of the house. “My wife’s back there somewhere, keeping an eye on them. She works from home, too, so we kind of take turns.”
The office was cluttered, but in a way that indicated it was a real workplace and not just for show. Dominic offered me a seat on the small mid century style couch across from his desk. “I’ve got a few ideas,” he said, gesturing toward an assortment of file folders fanned across the table. “But first, let me give you the background on Dieter Bravo, LLC.”
The corporation had been set up around the time Dieter won his Oscar. Dominic had just been his accountant at the time, but once Dieter started getting more press and more job offers, a colleague had suggested they set up a corporation.
”To be honest, I pushed Dieter to do it because I saw he was starting to do some stupid stuff,” Dominic said. “After his mother died … he started using a lot more. And his brother asked me to make sure that boyfriend he had couldn’t get access to any of the money.”
”Jonathan,” I said. “Yeah, I’ve met him.”
”Real piece of work, but Dieter wouldn’t hear a word against him at the time,” Dominic said. “Let me just say, everyone who knows and cares about Dieter is so happy you came along.”
The corporation technically owned Dieter’s house in the Hollywood Hills, as well as an apartment in New York City and a flat in London, both of which were leased out to friends at a fair price.
“Dieter gets $250,000 a year salary,” Dominic said. “I get $100,000. Which is pretty fair. He makes all the money but I do most of the business work so …”
”Oh, I don’t doubt you earn every penny,” I said. “This all looks complicated.”
”It’s not that bad,” Dominic said. “Dieter is the only stockholder so it’s easy to make decisions.” He pulled out a stack of papers. “Once you two get married, we’ll transfer fifty percent of the holdings to you, but we can add you to the board and start paying you a salary right away. I was thinking $75,000 to start, and it can go up as you take on more responsibilities. To begin, you can be in charge of charity donations, maybe create a separate foundation for that. Right now, we just kind of donate to whatever strikes Dieter’s fancy, but I thought it would be good to have some kind of mission statement.”
I nodded. “I like that idea. Maybe something to do with arts education? I know public schools are always in need of funding for things like that.”
“Exactly!” Dominic said. “I knew this would be right up your alley. My mother in law is a librarian and she’s so organized it’s not even funny. And smart.”
He gave me a quick rundown of how Dieter’s finances and those of the corporation worked together. “I take care of paying all the bills, like the property taxes, utilities, insurance premiums. And I do all the taxes: for him, for me, and for the business,” he said. “I’ll do yours, too. Basically, you’ll have a bank account of your own and I’ll deposit money in it every month. And if you ever need more, just call me. I’ll transfer money around and make sure it all balances out in the end.”
”I really doubt I’ll need more than $75,000 a year,” I said. “Especially with no rent or utility bills to worry about.”
”You’d be surprised,” Dominic said. “Remember, you won’t need to finance a new car or anything like that anymore. Oh, and if you need to travel for business, the corporation will buy the tickets, book the lodging, all of that. You need to pay for personal stuff, though, so if you need to book a flight at the end of the month, just let me know so I can advance you the money.”
We filled out some paperwork so I could become a legal employee of Dieter Bravo, LLC. “That’s it,” Dominic said. “Welcome to the company.”
About that time, there was a knock on the office door and two kids ran inside. “Dad, Mom says we can go to the pizza place for dinner if you say it’s okay!,” the little boy said. He had a plastic dinosaur in his hand. His sister had one, too, and they were both covered with dust.
”Only if you wash up first,” Dominic said. “And next time, wait until I say ‘Come in’ if I’m working, okay?”
”Okay,” Mario said. “Are you the lady who’s gonna marry Mr. Bravo?”
”Yes, I am,” I said.
Elena jumped up and down. “Mr. Bravo is so silly!,” she said. “He’s Daddy’s boss but he acts all goofy to make us laugh.”
”Yeah, he’s good at that,” I agreed. “Now I should be getting out of your way so you can get ready to go out for pizza.”
”You want to come with us?,” Mario asked. “They have video games!”
”No, but thank you for asking,” I said, stifling a laugh. The last place I wanted to eat was a pizza parlor with video games; I’d had enough of that at a friend’s son’s birthday party about a year ago. “I need to get home and it’s a long drive from here.”
As I drove down the 101, I started thinking about some of the possibilities my new source of income could bring. “I’m paying you off, first thing,” I said, patting the steering wheel of my trusty Impreza. I still had two years left to go, after leasing for three years and then financing the balance with my credit union for another five.
My credit card balance would be the next thing to go. I tried my best to keep from using it but there always seemed to be some random expense popping up: a flat tire to be replaced, new brake pads, an appliance dying (the last one had been my fridge, which I was still paying off).
As I merged onto the 10, I started thinking farther afield. Maybe a trip back East to visit Sam and her family. A new laptop. A piece of Rookwood pottery.
“Slow down, asshole,” I said as I spotted a bright yellow Honda weaving through traffic way over the speed limit behind me. He hopped into the next lane, but got brake checked by an F150. “Serves you right,” I thought.
Then the Honda swerved into my lane, clipping my front fender and sending me into the fast lane — and a Mercedes SUV. I didn’t even have time to hit my horn before the Mercedes and I were both spinning toward the K rail. My car stopped abruptly and the airbags deployed. Then everything went dark.

Request: can i be self indulgent and ask you to write something fluffy about telling jason you're in terrible period pain and being surprised cause he sort of dropped his commitments of the day to come home and take care of you? (its what i'm picturing as i run around at work lol)
Description: Despite telling Jason to go to work after waking up to your period, he knows exactly what you need and comes home to take care of his girl.
Warning(s): period talk, mention of pregnancy, mention of trying for a baby not working
Word Count: 1.5k
A/N: okay so i went a little away from the request by including a pregnancy subplot so oops. it came to my head and i couldn't resist, sorry lol

You let out a groan as you roll around on your back, unable to find any comfortable position as you lay in bed, covered in fluffy blankets and a heating pad resting on your stomach. How much work would it be to rip out my uterus? You swat away your mind’s ideas, pulling the blankets even farther up your body as you try to keep your tears at bay.
A week of bleeding and being in pain wasn’t enjoyable for anyone but it felt like an extra stab in the heart this time. If you had your period, that meant another month of trying hadn’t worked. After months of taking tests only to read negative on the plastic, the disappointment had become expected, but it didn’t make it any easier. You knew Jason was hurting, he was the one that wanted to start trying anyway, he wanted the kids all to be fairly close in age. Plus, even if he didn’t admit it, you know that he wanted to be as young as possible while raising his children. Even though he was hurting, he hid it as much as he could. He held you and did all that you asked plus things you didn’t ask.
As you think about the compassion of your fiancé, you can’t help but cry, the combination of period hormones, disappointment about the baby, and love for your partner being too much. When you woke up that morning to a red stain on the sheets, a sob immediately let your mouth and Jason was up in an instant, pulling you into his arms and whispering comfort to you. As you took a hot shower, he replaced the sheets and got out his comfiest sweater for you. He offered to stay home but you quickly shooed him out of the house, he was not about to skip post-production meetings with Apple just because you were sad.
A few hours later, you weren’t regretting that decision but you were certainly missing him and his arms around you. Sure, his thundergong sweatshirt smelled like him and you may or may not have stolen his pillow from his side of the bed, but it wasn’t the same. You look at the time on your phone, realizing that you needed to leave for lunch with your friend. As you opened up your text thread to let her know you’d be late, a crippling cramp ran through your torso. You quickly typed out an apology, explaining that you would have to reschedule, before tossing your phone to the side, bringing your body into the fetal position while you try to urge the pain away, tears running down your face as you drift to sleep.
Feeling the bed dip next to you and a hand gently placed on your cheek, you open your tired eyes to see Jason looking at you with concerned eyes, “Hey there, beautiful.” You groaned at his compliment, feeling anything but beautiful as you stretch out your legs from their now uncomfortable position. Jason chuckles lightly though you can tell from the tone of his laugh that he was still concerned, “How are you feeling?” You look up at him to answer before looking around the room, noticing that there’s far too much light coming through the window for it to be the end of his work day, “Wait…why are you here?”
Jason laughs as he stands up from the bed, walking toward your closet as he pulls off his jeans and throws them in the laundry hamper, “I do live here, you know.” You roll your eyes and though he can’t see you, Jason can feel your annoyed expression from here, “I just decided to come home.” You sit up, leaning your back against the headboard as you search the sea of blankets for your phone. Once you find it and turn it on to see the time, your eyes widen, “Jas, you have meetings until 5, what are you doing home at noon?” He walks back into the room, now dressed in sweats and a chiefs tee, tossing you a look of mock horror, “Um, are you stalking me? Why do you know my schedule?” He catches the pillow you toss at him, showing you a bright smile as he walks to the bed and lays down next to you, “Stop acting like a little shit and tell me why you’re here.”
He chuckles lowly at your demand, pushing your heating pad to the side and lifting his your sweatshirt up just enough so he has access to your bare stomach. Being careful to not press down too hard, Jason gently massages your sore midsection, eliciting a low groan of relief from you. “Feels good, but I’m still waiting on an answer.” Jason looks up at you with an annoyed expression, “Will you just let me take care of you please?” You look back at him with an equally annoyed expression, “Not if it means you’re ignoring your responsibilities.” Sighing, Jason looks down where he continues to massage your skin, “Yes, I skipped out on the rest of my meetings. Yes, I know you told me not to do that. No, this will not ruin the timeline of production. No, you are not ruining my work.”
The bastard looks up at you with a small smirk on his face, pleased with the expression on your face at him answering all of your questions before you could even ask them. You let out a huff, crossing your arms as you look to the side of the room, not wanting to meet his eyes because you know it’ll just make you cry, “You shouldn’t have to do that though, I should just deal with my stupid issues.” Jason’s eyes, though you can’t see them, soften, the man then sits up and places himself in front of your crossed legs, “Hey, being in pain is not a stupid issue.” You turn to him, your eyes filled with tears and you try to keep in your sobs, “But I shouldn’t be so upset, th-this just means…,” but before you can finish your sentence, the floodgates open.
Jason opens his arms and you collapse into his chest, sobs wracking through your body as you cling to his shirt. He holds you close, resting his chin on the top of your head and placing kisses there, “I know baby, I know what it means.” You eventually calm down, your sobs dissipating though tears still run down your face, “I’m sorry,” you squeak out. His grip on you tightens, “What the hell are you sorry for, Y/N?” You pull back, practically kneeling in his lap as he looks at you with widened eyes, moving his grip down to your hips, “Just, I know that this isn’t easy for you either.”
His heart shatters.
Here you are, in so much pain that you can’t get out of bed and are absolutely heartbroken, yet you’re worried about how he is feeling. Jason pulls you back into his arms, holding your head to his chest, “You have absolutely nothing to be sorry about, sweet girl. I want to keep talking about this, but how about we try to make your body feel a bit better first, huh?” You nod against his chest, knowing that everything will seem worse in your brain if you’re in physical pain too.
Releasing you from his arms, Jason scoots off the bed and grabs the target bags he placed next to your nightstand before he checked on you when getting home. He places the bags on the bed, pulling out the different items and explaining them as he did, “Okay, so this is what I was able to pick up on my way home, but if I forgot something, I can run back, no problem.” Your heart practically melts as you see not only how much your partner cares for you, but how much he pays attention. Jason didn’t just buy any pads but the brand and kind that you like. You loved flavored potato chips but he got you kettle cooked chips instead, he knew that you craved salty snacks on your period. He was thinking through things you hadn’t even considered, and for that, you loved him.
“…Oh and your favorite ice cream is in the freezer. I thought about getting you your sherbet too but thought you would just want the chocolate.” Jason looks up with a smile on his face though it drops when he sees tears running down your face, “Y/N, baby, are you okay? Did I do something wrong?” You shake your head, wiping away your tears and showing him a small smile, “No, you’re just, you’re perfect.” Jason laughs and turns away for a moment, attempting to hide his blush, before turning back to you and lightly tossing the pad pack at your face, giving you plenty of time to catch it, “All right, now I know you’re a fucking liar.”

Text
Who’s the first person you talk to via text in the morning? There isn’t one specific person I text as soon as I get up but some time throughout the morning I’ll usually send a message (or vise versa) to Mark, Lolly, and Margo.
Was that person your significant other? Mark is.
Does it take a lot for you to cry, or does it happen easily? It depends on my mental state.
What was the last reason you cried? I got a package last night and it was a Benny The Bull (the Chicago Bulls mascot) beanie that I have had my eye on for AGES and I had no idea who sent it and I finally figured out it was from my best friend. I told her about this hat like a year ago and she fucking found it and sent it to me out of the blue and I just got really emotional and grateful for her because I love her so fucking much and she’s the sweetest person in the world.
What’s hurting you right now? My back is bothering me a little.
Do you have someone who you can tell anything? Yeah.
What’s the one thing you regret more than anything? I don’t know.
Do you like vanilla? I do. I prefer it more as a flavor than a scent, though
Do people who judge bother you a lot? I'm more bothered by people who have to announce every judgement and opinion about everything all the fucking time. We all judge to an extent but people who are super vocal about it piss me the fuck off.
What about arrogance? That is also super annoying.
Do you tan easy? Eh.
Do you have two of the same pair of pants? I do. I have the same pair of jeans in two colors and the same pair of work out leggings in two colors.
Do you know anyone with Type 1 Diabetes? Yes.
Are you familiar with John Mayer? Yes.
Do you have a lot of pictures of you and your friends? I have a good handful, sure.
What did you have for dinner last night? Tacos.
Do you own anything with the Playboy Bunny on it? Nope.
Where is the last beach you went to? Foster Ave Beach in Chicago.
Have you ever been rock climbing? Nope.
Do you own a bean bag chair? No.
Are you allergic to anything? What? Some medications.
Would you be willing to be examined for medical research? No while I’m alive, no.
Where is your phone? Next to me.
What is two feet from your right arm? My desk phone.
Do you own any vinyl records? I have one. It’s the Little Shop Of Horrors movie soundtrack that I found in a thrift store in Jackson, TN, when I was 15. It’s framed on my wall as part of a gallery wall with other movie posters and stills. Are you the one in a group to talk a lot or do you listen? I'd say that I listen more, but it depends on my mood and what the topic of conversation is.
Have you ever touched a caterpillar? Yes.
Do you enjoy staying at hotels? I do, but lately it’s been SO incredibly hard for me to sleep in places that aren’t my own bed.
Have you ever met someone famous. Who? Do tell! A handful of stand up comedians lol.
When’s the last time you did something you knew was wrong? I drove for about a mile without a seatbelt oops.
Is there a guy/girl that knows everything or mostly everything about you? Yes.
Who was the last person you cried in front of? Mark.
What is one thing you would love to see happen today? I'd love for them to finally announce the host/mg line up for SNL’s premier.
Have you kissed any friends on your Facebook? Well, my husband, lol.
What’s irritating you right now? Work.
Who else is in the room with you? My coworker.
Could you go out in public looking like you do now? I’m technically “in public” right now.
Can you recall the last time you really liked someone a lot? Yes, right now.
