interesting look at this time. looks like the writers met them first in the last days at the hospital, so this must be late November or early December 1969. you can see they still don’t have their stories straight.

the 1969 ballad narrative frames yoko as “the one” john was looking for his whole life. so it’s interesting to see how john phrases this search early on—a woman who could give him what he got from a man. how does he define that? thinking alike, being lonely before they found each other, sharing dreams, having prophetic dreams about first meeting, and enjoying their company. someone who he can be himself with.

isn’t the story they tell later that john wrote back to yoko in india? i distinctly remember yoko recalling a conversation asking john later why he wrote all those honest letters in india and why he wasn’t worried she would sell them to papers or someone would get ahold of them. that was all bullshit.

the reporter is perceptive to note that yoko doesn’t pick up or share johns humor. it’s true this would be a tough time for yoko after a traumatic miscarriage (a still birth, really) and i’m sensitive to that. but it takes a lot for a reporter to commit in black and white that a subject is trying to strongarm you into writing a story that fits their narrative. this was total burning bridges to print this. she must have been intolerable to them.

I’ve never been into dcu before but I’ve been binging batfam stuff and lore videos for 3 days because I watched one thing about Jason Todd fell in love with him instantly and then I needed to know where he fit in Batman lore since there are 700 robins and ended up finding out about his whole family

Is that how this works with batfam fans? Because damn there’s a lot of you and I’m curious if it typically starts with one robin, like, you just find your robin and then whoops the rest of them come as a package deal now? Because I feel like that might be the case lol

happy otgw anniversary everyone <333 this is a long-standing beloved tradition of mine, to rewatch over the garden wall (and usually other YouTube videos/movies/shows as well) and do a little painting for one of my favorite shows as I watch in honor of the season !! I like how this one came out (even though I still like my quicky sketch I did first a little better) and I can't wait to do it again next year !! xoxox
