I’m working on a new Inquisitor, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to flesh them out, but it means I don’t even have a screen shot yet.

Kwan Adaar

Face claim: Currently Tessa Thompson

Age: 28 Does anyone have any cannon or headcannon info about how long Qunari live? I couldn’t seem to find much. I don’t think they live lives as brief as DnD Orcs or Half-orcs, So for now Kwan will have an age reflective of where she would be as a human.

Birthday: 18th of Nubulis 9:13

Height: 6′3″ or 190cm

Species: Qunari

Gender: Cis Female

Residence: Frostback Mountains / Itinerant

Marital Status: Single

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Food: While she grew up mostly on lamb and root vegetables, Kwan prefers fish to red meat. Orlesian breads and baked goods are delicacies for special occasions

Drink: She could rarely afford it, but Kwan has a deep and abiding love of Antivan brandies

Day or Night: Kwan’s sleep schedule is all over the place, but she has always preferred night. Never fully accustomed to the company of large crowds, mornings and days were always full of work even before she joined the Valo-Kas. Night is her alone time

Snacks: Kwan almost always has a raw potato floating around in her back for if she gets hungry. Lingonberries, which grow in her native Frostback Mountains, are another favorite.

Pets: the Adaar family kept several cats for mousing, but the kittens Kwan grew up with have long since passed, and she doesn’t visit home enough to know the names of all the barn cats.

Colour: Earth-tones, but she has a particular fondness for pastel blues and greens

Tin’s Dragon Age: Inquisition OCs

Sooooo...I got the game around April, and could finally play out some of the characters I had planned since the game came out and I couldn’t afford it^^ So here, have my three Inquisitors so far. I have so much more in my head, help.

Aeva Trevelyan

First one I played. Currently finished the main storyline with her, still have to play Trespasser, but...I don’t want the game to end.

She’s a 20-something human shield and sword warrior, who specialized in Champion. She always strives for the common good, and was very headstrong about defeating Corypheus, because he’s a bad guy.

She romanced Cullen, is bffs with Cassandra (still not sure how that happened! Mutual respect, I suppose?), good friends with Sera, Dorian, Bull, and Varric. Her relationship with Vivienne is complicated by the fact that, in my headcanon, Aeva’s twin brother was a mage made Tranquil. So her and Vivienne don’t see eye to eye on the Circles and on magic. Aeva also rather antagonized Solas. And Cole became more human, with Aeva supporting him every step of the way.

Leliana became Divine in this playthrough, Aeva supported the mages and let them free to act (because of her twin brother), and she let Morrigan drink from the well (which I rather regretted because Kieran exists in this playthrough. Yes, I’d like to play all my Inquisitors with a different world state if I can).

Terris Trevelyan

Aeva’s big brother (who cares about Bioware canon about the Trevelyan inquisitor...I have five Trevelyan siblings, and I intend to play all of them!!). I just reached Skyhold in this playthrough.

30 years old, fire mage, I think I’ll choose the Knight-Enchanter specialization for him. He is Lawful Evil. And egoistic. He’ll always turn a situation to his own gain. 100% believes he was sent by Andraste.

He was raised in the Circle, and he freaking loved it. So he and Vivienne will be probably be bffs. They’re well heading that way. I kinda want him to get along well with Solas, because, deep down, Terris is fascinated by spirits, and Solas knows a lot about the Anchor.

His romancing choices so far are between Cassandra and Josephine. While Josephine is freaking adorable, I kinda love the Paladin and Religious-nut Mage association. We’ll see.

Also, I kinda expected him to hate Sera, but the choices I made with him aren’t super mean.

Terris sided with the Templars, and I think I’ll make Vivienne Divine in this playthrough.

Mehetan Adaar

My latest character! I wanted a Qunari to romance Dorian with, and that’s Mehetan.

20 something dual blades rogue. I got used from shooting stuff from afar with magic, so I’ll probably switch him to bow and arrow, we’ll see. A sweetheart, but a pragmatic one. Also one to crack jokes (I headcanon he was the youngest of the mercenary crew he worked with, and was the funny young sibling).

I just got to Haven with him, so we’ll see where that leads us! Can’t wait to play more of him!

she is completely fluent in qunlat and common.  her rivaini and antivan are pretty close to fluent.  she can speak a bit of orlesian but can’t read more than simple signs.  her tevene is barely passable and she has no skill to speak of in other languages.  (she tries to bond with cassandra by breaking out her nevarran but cass can’t even keep the pained expression off her face so she never tries again.)

My ‘Then Let it Be Ruby’ worldstate is entirely about exploring the ways in which women in power come to be that and subverting tropes associated with women. Specifically the girly girl, the evil queen, the little old lady, and the coming-of-age narrative.

Tessa is learning that there is power in softness. That she can be both feminine and vicious. That mercy is not weakness. Bubble baths with rose petals and flowing robes do not make her less fierce out on the field. In fact, relishing in herself only makes her stronger.

Lucia is cunning. Wise and cutthroat, her hard edges scrape against weakness. She doesn’t step over people to gain power, she already possesses it. She does not become a queen, she has always been one. Accepting the title of Queen of Ferelden just formally recognizes this. 

Rita is guilt racked. Bones weary from decades of battle, of all the troops she’s left behind. No armchair commander she. Following in the steps of her father, she fights in Ferelden. But where her father failed with indignity, she thrives. Old enough to be a grandmother, she finds a new start in the place she expects it the least

Adelaide is equal parts violence and whimsy. Still treading the line between woman and girl, and making space for all she has the possibility to become. Never one to weigh anchor, she flies where she fancies. Kirkwall teaches her the importance and value of staying. 

And a note on the name: “Then Let it Be Ruby” is a combination of two parts. “Then let it be” is from Euripides’ Medea. Medea says this after the chorus claims she would be the wretchedest of women if she carried out her plans of revenge, and she accepts it. Ruby comes from Psalm 31:10 “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies” and the rest of the psalm goes on to describe the characteristics of a good wife. That she works for her family, offers help to the needy, is wise, and most importantly fears the Lord. It is not uncommon for uber-Christian women to describe themselves as Psalms 31 Women and claim it is the essence of biblical womanhood. I put these two together to highlight the contrast if the worldstate itself.
