*CRACK - BOOM*
Ough...that had hurt. How could Goliaopede have been able to get the jump on him? Calama didn't have time to steady his mind before he noticed the rapidly approaching titan

Calama had always been faster than that living corpse but something was strange...

Goliapede seemed to be keeping pace with him, it must have just been because he had allowed the behemoth to get too close. If he kept flying at full speed he'd surely loose the beast.
however, Calama felt a shudder shoot up his back...it couldn't be...

Goliapede was flying faster than him...HE'D BEEN CAUGHT!

Yunho had a satisfied, albeit evil, smile on his face as he hung up, putting his phone back on the desk.
"What are you smiling about?" Jongho raised an eyebrow, noticing the taller from the corner of his eye. Yunho shook his head with a playful shrug before continuing his work.
"If you get in trouble, don't make me complicit." Jongho warned with a chuckle.
"I won't. Don't worry, dear maknae." Yunho giggled. Jongho sighed, Yunho was always mischievous and messing around but got away with it because of his charming smile. Seeing how he had pulled up Hongjoong's phone location, he didn't want to know what he did to manipulate the captain.
"I'm done with my tasks for the day. I need a breather." Jongho yawned and stood up, stretching his limbs.
"Go ahead." Yunho hummed as Jongho grabbed what he needed and exited their computer cave.
"San hyung, I finished vetting all the potential investors for the casino. Here are their profiles." Jongho handed San the stack of folders with all the background checks of the investors.
"Thanks, Jongho ah." San took the first file off the top and skimmed through the contents.
"I'll take 5 and give the rest of Wooyoung." San snickered.
"He'll chew your head off if he finds out." Jongho shook his head. San shrugged, he has worked with Wooyoung long enough to know how to handle his tantrums.
"Hongjoong said there was an issue with the gardener?" Seonghwa walked in, eyes trained on his phone.
"Yeah, he was sketchy, taking photos and stuff. We suspect he's a spy so we fired him but Yunho hyung said he can handle it so I left him to it." Jongho explained. Seonghwa nodded, it was just hiring a new gardener, not a big deal that he needed to get involved in.
"Where did you go dressed up so fancily, hyung?" San asked, turning his body slightly to face the second in command. Seonghwa looked up from his phone.
"Meeting with the chief police commissioner. I needed some updates on the ground sensing." He blinked.
"Is it true that the smaller gangs are joining forces?" Mingi and Yeosang came in, having just finished their workout downstairs.
"It's too early to say for sure but they have noted a decrease in gang disputes in certain areas. There could a peace treaty or truce somewhere." Seonghwa informed.
"We should find out. I'll get my men on the ground." Jongho said.
"Thanks." Seonghwa cracked a small smile, heading up to go to his office to continue working.
"The chief police commissioner's gonna have to retire soon. We should get our hooks into the new potential candidate before he's elected in." Yeosang said.
"Hongjoong hyung's already working on that. But the current chief's influence sways the vote so we still have to maintain good graces with him. If they decide to elect someone else, like one of those upstanding justice types, it'll be tougher to get a foot in." Mingi crossed his arms.
"I'm hungry. I want a sandwich." San stood up from the couch and headed to towards the kitchen.
"Me too!" Mingi raised his hand
"Make that 3! After my shower." Yeosang chimed in.
"4!" Jongho added with a snicker. San spun around to scowl at the 3 before marching towards the kitchen to get the staff to make them all sandwiches.
"Okay, time to shower." Yeosang groaned and went upstairs. Mingi nodded in agreement and went to take his shower too.
"I'm home~!" Wooyoung declared as he entered the mansion, doing a spin and flipping the end of his jacket.
"I got a new suit." He smirked and spun around to show his outfit. The glittery on his jacket was subtle and sparkled the moment he stepped into the light, it complimented his figure well.
"How many black suits do you have?" Yeosang asked as he chewed on his sandwich. The others nodded in agreement, making Wooyoung's face fall.
"This is special. New silk lining." Wooyoung lifted one his of his jacket to show them the silver silk lining. San reached out to try and touch it but seeing his dirty fingers, Wooyoung scoffed and slapped his hand away. San yelped like a reprimanded puppy.
"Dirty hands!" Wooyoung scolded, making San glare at him.
"Mr Song, there is a visitor for you. Shall I let him through the gate?" The butler came in. MIngi frowned in confusion and checked his phone.
"Oh yeah... Okay, let him in. Have him wait in the living room area. I'll go get changed." Mingi waved.
"What visitor is this?" Jongho asked.
"The jewellery and accessories for the gala are here so I need to check them through." Mingi finished his sandwich and wiped his mouth, standing up to leave.
"Someone help me call Joong hyung to let him know." Mingi yelled to one of the remaining boys before running upstairs.
"Let me know what?" As if on cue, Hongjoong walked in.
"Mingi says his jewel guy is here with the accessories for the gala. Wanted you to check it out with him." Yeosang informed. Hongjoong nodded and left the dining room.
"Sir." The male stood up and bowed when he saw Hongjoong, knowing he was the head of the group. Hongjoong gave a curt nod and sat down. The staff came with a tray of hot coffee for Hongjoong, already prepared the moment he entered. Mingi came down in proper clothing.
"Hey. You're here, hyung." Mingi smiled to Hongjoong and sat beside him, giving an acknowledgement nod.
"Following Mr Song's request for white gold accessories to match dark, royal purple. These are what I have procured for your family." He took out trays from the box.
"Very nice." Hongjoong scanned through the tray and nodded in approval.
"This is yours, Mr Kim." The jeweller took out a velvet box and opened it, showing the necklace that Hongjoong requested.
"Asscher cut diamond with white gold, as per requested." The male said proudly. Mingi whistled while Hongjoong lifted it up, looking at the diamond right in the middle, surround by smaller diamonds.
"Nice, very well done." Hongjoong smirked.
"Wooyoung will like his new earrings." Mingi said to Hongjoong, showing him the diamond earrings.
"He's like Seonghwa, both like princess cut diamonds." Hongjoong scoffed and checked the diamonds, using the loupe from the jeweller to check the diamonds. Mingi, who usually had the keener eye for jewellery, took over to look at it.
"Damn." The other boys all came, seeing all the sparkly pieces laid out on the coffee table. Hongjoong gave out each piece to the designated owner, as per his plan.
"Nice." Yeosang smiled happily as he wore the white gold cuff on his wrist, stacking with a tennis bracelet.
"What do you think?" Wooyoung held up the collar chain in front of his shirt, showing the two diamonds at the end.
"Mmm, looks good. It'll match well." San gave a thumbs up, admiring his best friend. Seonghwa held his hand out in front of him, admiring his new ring.
"I'm glad you like it, sirs." The jeweller stood up to bow to them. Mingi smirked with confidence.
"Told you I only get good stuff." He scoffed.
"Yeah, yeah." Yunho slapped Mingi's shoulder. Once everything was settled, the jeweller packed up and took his leave.
"So, Yunho said he updated you about the gardener issue? Turns out he was being suspicious, worried that he's a spy for someone." Seonghwa asked Hongjoong as they were about to head upstairs to their offices. Hongjoong nodded his head in confirmation while Yunho snickered secretly.
"I settled it already, don't worry about it." Hongjoong replied, checking his phone. He and Seonghwa didn't hear Yunho's snickers, too caught up in their own conversations.
"You didn't have to busy yourself with that. We can survive without a gardener for a bit." Seonghwa pointed out.
"It's fine. Easily settled." Hongjoong shrugged, smiling gratefully to his best friend.
"Okay. Do you need Jongho or Yunho to vet the person?" Seonghwa asked. Hongjoong shook his head, walking alongside Seonghwa to return to their offices.
"What are you laughing about?" Mingi blinked in confusion.
"Nothing~" Yunho sang, stacking his jewellery boxes and bringing it up to his room.
"Dude, sometimes you're so weird, it's scary." Mingi said to his best friend as they walked together. Yunho turned to his best friend with a raised eyebrow.
"Coming from you?" Yunho taunted with a scoff. Mingi shrugged and turned to return to his room. It was purely coincidental that Yunho called Hongjoong about the gardner while he was at your shop. He totally didn't hope that you would overhear their conversation.
Meanwhile, Hongjoong was working at his desk, going over the number from the businesses that Ateez oversaw as a group, making sure everything was in order and there were no discrepencies.
Before he left, he had slipped his business card onto your work table, just in case you needed his number.
"Real smooth, Hongjoong." He scoffed at his actions. Would you even see the card?
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Come in." Hongjoong looked up from his computer to see Jongho at his door. Jongho came in with a small, displeased frown on his face. He didn't say anything, merely sliding Hongjoong a piece of paper.
"What's wrong?" Hongjoong was confused but took the paper, unfolding it and reading the contents.
"What? Is this real?" He looked at the youngest in disbelief.
"Yeah, I was getting my informants on the ground to check for the change in gang related activities when this information came in. It's reliable, San hyung confirmed it on the network." Jongho explained, nodding over to the paper. Hongjoong let out a curse, standing up, he went over to Seonghwa's office.
"Thanks, Jong." Hongjoong said as he entered Seonghwa's office. Seonghwa knew it would be the leader, he was the only one that would enter without knocking.
"What's wrong, Joong?" Seonghwa raised an eyebrow. With the same piece of paper, he slid it to Seonghwa.
"You're kidding..." Seonghwa frowned as he read the paper's contents.
"No, I'm not. Jongho came to me after his informants got that, confirmed it with San too. He saw it on the network." Hongjoong crossed his arms.
"Sh*t. I was just there." Seonghwa cursed.
"We can't ask San to take the job, it's too obvious. It'll raise suspicion and be worse for us." Hongjoong said.
"Let's call the others." Seonghwa sighed, taking his phone and sending a text to the other Ateez members. Luckily everyone was home and they quickly gathered in Seonghwa's office.
"So, to let everyone know, Jongho's informants got new information. And San confirmed it on the network. There's a bounty on the current police commissioner's head." Hongjoong informed. The others all nodded, not saying anything yet.
"The bounty's payer is anonymous, according to the network. And you know the network will never give out the info." San said, leaning against the wall.
The network, a place where information and bounties were exchanged amongst all the underground organisations.
"Seonghwa hyung, you were just there. Anything?" Mingi asked. Seonghwa shook his head.
"I doubt he knows, he was too relaxed if he knew. This bounty is fresh, Jongho just gave Hongjoong to information." Seonghwa replied. Jongho nodded in confirmation.
"Can we ask him to hide then? Come back when the new commissioner needs to be elected." Yeosang raised his hand.
"No. We can't ask San to take the bounty too, it's too obvious of our involvement. It'll not end well." Hongjoong said.
"What can we do then? We need his vote for the new commissioner election. If that anti-corruption guy gets elected, it'll be harder for our businesses." Yunho sighed.
"For now, we need more info, get all your informants out on the ground. Any update, alert us immediately. I want to know where this bounty came from. Wooyoung, we'll need you to stake out the poker games. Any piece of information is useful. We'll contact our guys in the police to keep an eye out." Hongjoong decided.
"Yes, captain." All 7 replied.
"I'll go call my guy to get me a buy in for the next poker game." Wooyoung said, excusing himself to make the call.
Wooyoung was one of those that went to high stake poker games for high profile people. All kinds of people were there and all kinds of information was exchanged there.
"San, keep an ear out in the network. That's the best way to keep track of the bounty status." Seonghwa added.
"Yes, hyung." San saluted and walked out.
"We cannot alert the commissioner yet. But Jongho and Yunho, I want surveillance." Hongjoong looked at the two. They nodded and left the room.
"Would it be ironic if the anti corruption, "clean up the city" dude was the one that initiated the bounty?" Yeosang chuckled.
"I wouldn't put it past him, the whole thing with no more corruption and no more gangs is all a front. If he was the one that posted that bounty, I want proof that he did and we'll use that to sink him." Hongjoong said.
"Should I let Hyunmin know about this?" Hongjoong asked the remaining men in the room. Hyunmin was the candidate that was most likely going to be the current commissioner's successor.
"He's a blabbermouth, can we trust that he won't tell the current commissioner?" Mingi asked.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but Mingi's right." Seonghwa said with a small smile on his face. Mingi rolled his eyes at that comment.
"I'll keep it on the DL for now then. I have a lunch with him in two days. I really hope this issue gets sorted quickly." Hongjoong sighed, rubbing his forehead.
"Thanks." He waved and left Seonghwa's office with Mingi and Yeosang in tow.
"San? I don't want to alert the network that we are investigating who posted the bounty, okay?" Hongjoong said to the male who had emerged from his room, dressed in gym clothes.
"I know. Don't worry, hyung. I'll be careful. I won't ask them anything directly or raise any warning flags." San smiled, knowing exactly what Hongjoong expected of him. Patting the captain on the shoulder, San walked towards the exit of the mansion to go to his fight club to work out and work.
"Captain, I got something extra for you." Mingi entered Hongjoong's office. The shorter male turned around, blinking at the taller.
"This is for you. From us." Mingi grinned, taking a velvet box out of his inner suit pocket and handing it to Hongjoong. Hongjoong took with confusion on his face.
"Oh, wow." He was speechless. There was a ring with his captain crest, studded in diamonds, on it.
"For the head of the family, the captain." Mingi explained.
"This is amazing. Thank you, Mingi ah." Hongjoong smiled softly, wearing the slightly heavy ring on his finger immediately.
"No problem, hyung. We're all here thanks to you." Mingi grinned and waved before leaving the office. Hongjoong sat at his desk, looking at how the diamonds sparkled under the sunlight.
This was his mark, a sign of Ateez's power and his own power. Hongjoong had a tattoo of this crest on the back of his left shoulder and always had a captain's band on his arm, clipped onto the sleeve of his jacket, but this ring meant something so much more.
"We're all here thanks to you."
Hongjoong and Seonghwa formed Ateez from nothing. It took the effort from all the boys, their determination and strengths coming together to get to where they are today.
Although everyone says Hongjoong is the prince of darkness, his past was the reason for that. He wasn't always like this.
"I see you got your present." Seonghwa's voice interrupted his train of thought.
"Yeah... I love it. Thanks, Hwa. I know it must have been your idea." Hongjoong gratefully smiled at his best friend. Seonghwa shrugged it off but mirrored a similar smile.
"I forgot to give these to you earlier when you were in my office. You need to sign off on these." Seonghwa put the stack of files down.
"Ugh. Can't you do them?" Hongjoong whined.
"That was our deal remember? I handle illegal signings and you handle legal signings. You need to check the property acquisition contracts." Seonghwa raised his eyebrow. Hongjoong nodded with a sigh and Seonghwa took his leave. Taking the first file off the stack, Hongjoong looked at the contents.
"Hyung, I got my buy in." Wooyoung came into Hongjoong's office. Hongjoong looked up at Wooyoung and nodded.
"Do you need to brush up on your poker skills?" Hongjoong raised an eyebrow with a chuckle.
"No! I run casinos, that's an insult." Wooyoung scoffed. He plopped himself down on the chair opposite Hongjoong and took one of the files off the pile, flipping through it.
"We're really buying that vineyard Jongho wanted?" He laughed.
"Birthday present for him. It's the only thing he wants." Hongjoong sighed. He felt like a dad buying his kids expensive presents.
"So if I want horses and stables on the property, I can ask for them for my birthday?" Wooyoung asked with bright eyes. Hongjoong shot him a flat look.
"A vineyard is a good investment. I'm not sure how horses are a good investment for us." Hongjoong said.
"Boo, you're no fun, dad." Wooyoung stuck his tongue out at the captain. But seeing how Hongjoong was alone with so much paperwork, he stuck around to keep him company, chatting with him and weighing in on certain issues.
"Want one?" Wooyoung held up the crystal glass, helping himself to Hongjoong's bar cart. Hongjoong nodded and Wooyoung poured whiskey into two glasses.
"Thanks." Hongjoong took a sip, leaning back in his chair tiredly.
"These words and papers are making my head hurt." Wooyoung groaned and Hongjoong grunted in agreement.
"I should tell Hwa to give out some of these to the rest of you to do some too. Then both of us won't be stuck with moutains of files." Hongjoong said.
"No way, please. I'm already up to here with all the account books for the casinos." Wooyoung held his hand above his head.
"Remind me what's the charity we're donating to this quarter?" Hongjoong asked.
"Children's heart foundation." Wooyoung replied, sipping the remainder of the whiskey in his glass. Hongjoong hummed and signed off on the cheque that they will be cashing, putting it in an envelope. He looked at the huge pile that was still there, it never seems to get smaller.
"Ah! Hyung, let's take a break! We've been here for so long and the sun is setting already!" Wooyoung suddenly exclaimed, making Hongjoong jump.
"Your idea of a break means leaving the work entirely." Hongjoong pointed out.
"Exactly! Let's go." Wooyoung tugged Hongjoong out of his chair.
"Where are we going?" Hongjoong asked as Wooyoung pushed him out into the hallway, turning off the lights in his office and closing the door so Hongjoong wouldn't re-enter.
"Anywhere but here." Wooyoung laughed. He sent a text to everyone that they'll go out for dinner tonight.
"If Seonghwa gets mad that I didn't finish the work, I'm blaming you." Hongjoong threatened but of course, Wooyoung didn't care.
"I already texted the others. Go get changed, we're going for dinner and drinks." Wooyoung left Hongjoong in the hallway and ran to his own room to change.
"Yah! Jung Wooyoung!" Hongjoong yelled.

pairing: yeosang x reader x seonghwa au: werewolf | non idol | genre: angst word count: 3.8 k synopsis: everyone thought you had it easy, the alpha's daughter, bound to be mated to another alpha. If only they knew your mate was with another. warning(s): - merry christmas eve everyone ~
Tumblr media
" i'm so sorry yn - but we can't. I mean - Harin is pregnant,"
Yeosang's words echoed in your mind, haunting you in quiet moments when the world slowed down. Harin is pregnant. The phrase carried weight, crushing the hope you'd once held for a future with him. You had poured your soul into that bond, only for it to splinter in an instant.
Even when he searched for you—his scent lingering in the air like a bittersweet memory—you kept your distance. He didn't deserve to see the pain he had caused reflected in your eyes.
Now, as you prepare to take over your father's role in the pack, the shift in your focus feels like salvation. The burden of leadership is heavy, but it keeps your mind from straying to the ache in your chest. Your pack needs you strong and unwavering, not caught in the pull of a love that could never be.
Gratefulness fills you as you pour yourself into your duties. The training sessions, council meetings, and scouting runs leave little room for sorrow. Each decision you make for the pack reinforces your resolve. They are your family, your responsibility, and the anchor you desperately need.
You sat at your desk, the stack of paperwork before you doing little to ease the weight on your shoulders. The reports from neighboring territories, requests for resources, and the endless lists of pack concerns blurred together, scattering your thoughts like leaves in the wind. You pressed a hand to your temple, closing your eyes briefly to gather yourself.
The sudden knock at the door made you jolt, a soft gasp escaping before you could stop it. Straightening your posture, you called out, "Come in!"
The door creaked open, and the familiar scent hit you before you even turned to look. Your wolf stirred instantly, its excitement thrumming through your veins as your beta stepped into the room.
"Beta Seonghwa," you greeted, masking the small smile tugging at your lips. The title felt formal, but it was necessary with how you needed to maintain composure, especially in moments like this. Your wolf, however, had no such qualms, howling with unrestrained joy at the presence of one of your closest confidants.
Seonghwa’s sharp eyes scanned the room briefly before they settled on you. He looked as calm and composed as always, but the slight quirk of his lips gave him away. "You look like you’ve been drowning in paperwork again."
You rolled your eyes, leaning back in your chair. "That’s because I am. Do you know how many pack disputes I’ve had to settle this week? And don’t get me started on the border patrol reports."
Seonghwa chuckled, the sound light and comforting. "It comes with the territory, Alpha. But maybe you should take a break. Even the strongest wolves need to catch their breath."
The teasing glint in his eyes made your wolf perk up even more, and for a fleeting moment, the stress seemed to ease.
"Don’t tempt me," you said with a soft laugh.
Seonghwa’s gaze softened, his presence steady and grounding in a way that reminded you why he was your beta. He moved closer, placing a small stack of files on your desk. "I thought I’d take some of the load off your plate. Patrol reports and council updates—sorted and summarized. No need to thank me," he said with a sly smile.
Your wolf rumbled with approval, tail practically wagging in your mind at his attentiveness. You leaned back in your chair, crossing your arms as you gave him an amused look. "Is this your way of bribing me into taking a break?"
"Bribing? No," Seonghwa replied, feigning innocence. "Strategic delegation, maybe. I know you won’t rest unless someone gives you a reason to."
You shook your head, a chuckle slipping past your lips. "You know me too well."
"I’d like to think so," he said softly, the humor in his expression dimming just enough to let something more genuine shine through. "You carry a lot, Alpha. More than anyone realizes. Letting someone shoulder a bit of it doesn’t make you weak."
His words struck a chord, and for a moment, you allowed yourself to let the weight of his sentiment settle. It wasn’t often someone reminded you that strength didn’t always mean going it alone.
"Thanks, Seonghwa," you murmured, your voice quieter now. "Really."
Seonghwa hummed softly, his eyes still fixed on you. "Y/N..."
The way he spoke your name made something in you falter. Even though you were the Alpha, the authority in his tone sent a ripple of unease through you, your wolf pacing anxiously within.
You gulped, straightening your posture as if to reassert control. "You're not here to help, are you?"
He shook his head, his expression unreadable, as his fingers sifted through the pile of files in his hand. He lingered on one, pulling it free and placing it on your desk with a deliberate motion.
"I thought it’d be better to tell you in person," he said, his voice calm but carrying an edge that made your wolf’s ears perk.
Your eyes dropped to the folder, the pack emblem embossed on the cover. Slowly, you reached for it, but Seonghwa’s voice stopped you.
"Before you open it," he said, meeting your gaze, "I need you to promise me something."
Your brow furrowed, your instincts immediately on high alert. "What is it?"
"Don’t act on impulse." His voice was firm now, his beta tone fully taking over.
You clicked your tongue in irritation. "Tsk, I would not—"
Seonghwa’s sharp, knowing look stopped you mid-sentence. He raised an eyebrow, and you felt your resolve falter. Letting out a sigh, you leaned back in your chair, pinching the bridge of your nose.
"Fine," you muttered. "What is it?"
Seonghwa hesitated for a moment, as though weighing his next words carefully. Then he placed the folder fully in front of you, his expression unreadable. "It’s Yeosang," he said, his voice even but tinged with something you couldn’t quite place.
Your heart skipped a beat, but you managed to keep your face neutral, though your wolf stirred restlessly. "What about him?"
Seonghwa’s jaw tightened before he continued. "He’s requested a pack transfer."
The words hit you like a slap, the air rushing from your lungs as though you’d been struck. Your wolf stilled for a moment, stunned, before growling low in your chest, a mix of confusion and anger.
"A transfer," you repeated flatly, the word tasting foreign on your tongue.
Seonghwa nodded, his gaze steady on you. "He submitted the request through the southern pack’s Alpha. It came in this morning."
You sat there in stunned silence, your mind racing. After everything—after the heartbreak, the silence, the distance—Yeosang wanted to leave the pack entirely?
"Did he give a reason?" you finally asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Seonghwa hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face. "He didn’t include much detail, but... he said it was to 'start fresh.' To sever old ties."
Your wolf growled again, louder this time, the sound reverberating in your chest. "Sever old ties," you repeated, your voice hardening. "Is that what we are to him now? Just... ties to be severed?"
Seonghwa didn’t respond immediately, letting you process the storm brewing inside you. He finally said, "Y/N, you need to think this through. If you deny the transfer, it could escalate tensions. But if you approve it..."
You stared at him, the unspoken weight of his words hanging between you. If you approved it, you’d be letting him go—for good. You grabbed the file, reading the transfers notes before you reached for your pen.
You grabbed the file, your hands steady despite the turmoil swirling in your chest. The transfer notes were brief, devoid of the warmth or sincerity you once knew from him. Your eyes lingered on the words "to start fresh" before you reached for your pen.
"Y/N—" Seonghwa’s voice broke the silence, firm yet laced with concern.
You didn’t look up, the tip of the pen hovering over the signature line. "I know what I’m doing," you said, your tone sharper than intended.
Seonghwa stepped closer, his presence grounding, though you felt his hesitation. "Do you?" he asked quietly, his words careful but probing.
You forced a smile, though it felt brittle even to you. "He’s moved on, Seonghwa. And so have I." The words hung in the air, sounding hollow in the stillness of the room.
Your wolf stirred uncomfortably, a faint whine echoing in your mind, but you ignored it, pushing aside the ache clawing at your chest. You signed your name with a flourish, sealing the decision.
"There," you said, setting the pen down with finality. "It’s done."
Seonghwa didn’t respond immediately, his gaze heavy as it lingered on you. You could feel his unspoken words, the questions he wanted to ask but wouldn’t dare voice. Finally, he nodded, though the tension in his shoulders remained.
"Very well," he said, his voice quieter now. "I’ll ensure the transfer is processed."
You nodded curtly, not trusting yourself to say anything more.
As Seonghwa reached for the file, his fingers brushed yours briefly, and the contact sent a jolt through you. He paused, his dark eyes searching yours. "Y/N," he said softly, "letting go doesn’t mean you have to carry it alone."
You pulled your hand back, crossing your arms as a shield. "I’m fine, Seonghwa," you replied, though the crack in your voice betrayed you.
He studied you for a moment longer before stepping back. "I’ll leave you to it, then," he said, his tone neutral but his expression far from indifferent.
When the door closed behind him, the silence returned, louder than ever. You leaned back in your chair, staring at the folder now absent from your desk, as if its removal had left an invisible mark.
You leaned back in your chair, head tilting toward the ceiling as you tried to hold it together. But the dam inside you had already begun to crack. Tears welled in your eyes, slipping down your cheeks before you could stop them.
You squeezed your eyes shut, as if that could block out the pain, but it only made it worse. Images of him flashed behind your eyelids: the way he used to smile at you, his laughter filling the air, the warmth of his presence that once felt like home.
Your breathing hitched, uneven and shallow as you fought to suppress the sobs building in your chest. "Get it together," you whispered to yourself, though your voice trembled, breaking apart like a fragile thread.
But it was no use. The weight of everything—the transfer, his words, the memories—crushed you all at once. A broken sob escaped your lips, and then another, until you were crying uncontrollably.
You buried your face in your hands, your shoulders shaking with the force of your grief. The wolf within you howled, mourning a bond that had been severed beyond repair.
~
You clasped hands with your old pack member, offering her a warm smile despite the lingering heaviness in your chest. "Congratulations," you said sincerely, your voice steady. "Finding your mate is a blessing, and I couldn’t be happier for you."
Her cheeks flushed as she smiled back, her new mate standing proudly by her side. "Thank you, Alpha," she replied, her voice filled with gratitude. "I’ll miss being part of this pack, but I know this is where I’m meant to be."
You nodded, squeezing her hand gently before letting go. "You’ll always have a home here, no matter what."
The words felt familiar, almost rehearsed—you’d said them before to others leaving the pack for similar reasons. But this time, they carried an odd weight, one that made your wolf stir uneasily.
As the couple turned to leave, Seonghwa’s presence behind you became more apparent, his quiet support a constant. His scent, steady and grounding, gave you something to anchor yourself to as you watched them go.
His scent, steady and grounding, gave you something to anchor yourself to as you watched them go.
"Ah, Alpha Y/N. Beta Seonghwa."
The voice froze you in place. Your wolf tensed, letting out a soft, mournful whine as your body stiffened. Slowly, you turned around, your breath catching when your gaze landed on him.
Yeosang.
And beside him, his mate. Her hand rested lightly on his arm, her smile polite but distant. In her other arm, she cradled a small child—a toddler, their bright eyes and soft features a perfect blend of the two standing before you.
Your wolf howled in agony, clawing at your chest, but you held your composure, every ounce of your strength poured into maintaining your Alpha façade.
"Yeosang," you greeted, your voice calm and even, though it felt like shards of glass cutting through your throat. Your eyes flickered briefly to his mate and the child, then back to him.
"Sad to see you go, as well as your family," you said, the words carrying a bittersweet weight that you disguised beneath a professional tone.
Yeosang stiffened slightly, his jaw tightening at your choice of words. His mate offered a polite smile, though the subtle tension in her shoulders didn’t go unnoticed. The child in her arms squirmed again, letting out a soft babble that made your wolf whimper.
"Thank you," Yeosang replied, his voice formal yet cautious, as if walking a tightrope. "It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one for us."
For us. The words echoed in your mind, cutting deeper than you anticipated. You swallowed the lump in your throat, keeping your expression neutral as your wolf clawed at your resolve, begging to lash out or flee.
"I hope your new pack welcomes you warmly," you said, folding your hands behind your back to keep them from trembling. "And that you find everything you’re looking for."
There was a beat of silence, heavy and awkward, before Yeosang’s mate stepped forward slightly. "The Alpha has been gracious," she said, her tone smooth but firm. "We’re grateful for your blessing."
You nodded, your eyes briefly meeting hers. "It’s what’s best for everyone." The words felt hollow, but you forced them out anyway.
Seonghwa, sensing the tension, shifted slightly closer to you, his steady presence a shield. His sharp eyes assessed the situation, his body language relaxed yet ready, as though anticipating the need to step in.
"You’re always welcome on pack grounds," you said, your voice steady but devoid of warmth. The words came easily, like a practiced response, but they felt foreign coming out of your mouth.
As Yeosang stood there, the faintest flicker of something like regret flashed in his eyes, but before he could say anything more, Harin leaned in close, whispering something into his ear.
You felt a tightening in your chest as her voice, soft and intimate, broke the fragile tension. The sound was enough to make your wolf whine quietly, a mix of jealousy and pain stirring deep inside.
Yeosang stiffened slightly, his gaze darting toward his mate. She gave him a look, something almost apologetic but resolute, before slowly stepping away. Yeosang remained behind, his face etched with emotion, and you could feel the weight of the unsaid words hanging in the air between you.
"Y/N, look, I’m sorry," Yeosang said, his voice low, hesitant. He took a step forward, though he didn’t quite close the distance between you.
The rawness in his voice caught you off guard, and for a moment, it felt as though everything was slipping out of your control again. You clenched your fists at your sides, refusing to let the flood of emotions overpower you.
"I didn’t mean for it to end like this," Yeosang continued, his eyes searching yours as if hoping to find some understanding. "I never wanted to hurt you, not really."
You swallowed hard, the words getting stuck in your throat. You knew he was trying to explain, but it didn’t make the reality any easier. It didn’t undo the decision he made, the bond that had unraveled between you two.
"You don’t have to explain," you said, your voice soft but firm, a little colder now. "You’ve made your choice, Yeosang. And so have I."
His face fell, the guilt clearly visible as he reached out, his hand hovering in the air like he was unsure whether to close the distance. The hurt in his eyes matched the ache in your chest, but you couldn’t allow yourself to falter.
"You’ve moved on," you continued, the words tasting like ash in your mouth, but they had to be said. "And so have I. It’s done."
Yeosang looked at you, his brow furrowing in confusion. "You have?"
You nodded, your gaze unwavering, though the rawness in your chest threatened to spill over. "I have. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt, but seriously, I meant what I said, Yeosang. You and your family will always be welcome back whenever."
The words felt like a double-edged sword, cutting deep but necessary, a way to acknowledge the reality of the situation without fully breaking down.
Yeosang’s confusion shifted into something else—perhaps disbelief, perhaps regret—but whatever it was, it made your heart tighten. He seemed to want to say something more, but the silence stretched between you two, heavy and thick.
"You’ve moved on so easily, Y/N?" His voice trembled slightly, and for a brief moment, he looked like the man you once knew. The one who used to be everything to you.
You scoffed, shaking your head, the bitterness rising in your chest. "I am not doing this with you, Kang," you snapped, the weight of his words pushing you to the edge. The last thing you wanted was to revisit old wounds you’d worked so hard to bury. "Seonghwa, please."
Seonghwa, ever observant, immediately stepped forward, his presence like a shield between you and Yeosang. "That’s enough, Yeosang," he said firmly, his voice calm but authoritative, knowing just how to keep the peace without allowing anyone to cross the line. "You’ve said your piece. Y/N has made it clear."
Yeosang seemed to hesitate, his eyes flickering from Seonghwa to you, a mixture of pain and frustration clouding his features. That’s when Yeosang noticed the marking on your neck, and then Seonghwa’s. His gaze hardened, his anger flaring as the realization hit him.
"You fucking—" Yeosang’s words caught in his throat, his voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and fury. His eyes locked on the marks, the ones that now tied you and Seonghwa together in a way that couldn’t be undone.
Seonghwa’s reaction was immediate, the growl low and threatening, a deep rumble that vibrated in the air between you and Yeosang. The ferocity in Seonghwa’s voice cut through the tension like a knife, his protective instinct flaring to life. "Don’t," he warned, his tone sharp as his eyes narrowed on Yeosang.
You could feel Seonghwa’s presence behind you, a solid wall of strength that shielded you from Yeosang’s volatile emotions. Your wolf stirred, a growl of its own rising in your chest, mirroring the protectiveness you felt.
Yeosang stepped forward, fists clenched at his sides, as if trying to decide whether to confront Seonghwa or say something else. "This is what it’s come to?" he spat, his eyes flashing with raw emotion. "You’ve marked her? After everything?"
You turned to face him, your expression hardening. "You have no right to question me, Yeosang," you said coldly, your voice cutting through the tension. "You made your choices. This is mine."
The words hung in the air, heavy and final. Yeosang seemed to recoil at your tone, the anger fading just slightly, replaced by something deeper—regret, perhaps, or pain. But it was too late for that now.
Seonghwa stepped closer, his hand still firmly placed on your shoulder as he positioned himself between you and Yeosang. "We’re not doing this," he said firmly, his voice unwavering. "You don’t get to come here and question our bond. It’s done."
Yeosang’s chest rose and fell with a deep breath, his emotions swirling beneath the surface, but he didn’t push further. Instead, he ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in the tension of his posture. "I never thought it would end like this," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
You looked at him one last time, the pain of the past bleeding into the present. "It’s over, Yeosang. You’ve chosen your path, and I’ve chosen mine."
The finality in your voice settled the matter. Yeosang’s lips parted, as if he wanted to say more, but nothing came out. With a last glance at you and Seonghwa, he finally turned and walked away, his family in tow.
As they disappeared from view, the silence between you and Seonghwa felt different—heavier, but somehow also more secure.
"You didn’t have to say all that," Seonghwa said quietly, his hand giving your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "But I understand why you did."
You exhaled slowly, your chest still tight, but you didn’t break down. You couldn’t. Not now. "I meant it," you said softly, your voice quiet but firm, as though you were trying to convince yourself as much as anyone else.
Turning to Seonghwa, you couldn’t help it. You shoved your face into his chest, seeking the comfort and grounding you desperately needed. The softness of his shirt against your skin was a small but welcomed relief. As you inhaled his scent, the familiar warmth and steady presence of him filled your senses, your wolf purring in contentment as it finally began to ease.
Seonghwa’s arms wrapped around you instantly, holding you close as you pressed into him, your heart slowing with every deep breath. "You don’t have to carry all of this on your own," he murmured, his voice low and soothing, as he gently ran his fingers through your hair.
You didn’t say anything in response, just letting the weight of his words settle in. For a brief moment, you allowed yourself to feel vulnerable, to let go of the defenses you had built up over time. With Seonghwa, you didn’t need to be the Alpha, the leader, or the person who had to hold everything together.
You were allowed to simply be.
His hand stroked your back, the touch gentle but strong, grounding you further in the moment. "I’ve got you," Seonghwa whispered. "Always."
The words were simple, but they were exactly what you needed to hear. They wrapped around your heart like a promise, and for the first time since everything had gone sideways with Yeosang, you let yourself feel that fleeting sense of peace.
Your wolf settled completely, the storm within you quieting as you stayed in Seonghwa’s arms. For now, that was enough.

Radiostatic fic recs part 2!
Hello again! I'm back with more fic recs! You can find the first post here. It has been updated to reflect what unfinished works have been finished. As always, be respectful of the authors and thank them for their work! Happy reading!
Finished
Killer Ex
Alastor and Vox used to date. At the scene of one of his latest crimes, Alastor finds something of Vox's. He pays his old flame a visit.
your vice is a locked room
I like this one a lot! It has some really funny one liners. Alastor's rut hits him and he finds he can't get Vox off his mind. He seeks Vox out and they clash together.
>Run Vox.EXE
I love the portrayal of the programs and the idea of Vox using programs to supplement himself. When Alastor disappeared, Vox became more reliant on his programs. Now that he's back, Alastor hates Vox's programs and wants for his friend to stop hiding behind them.
Animal Urges and Indulgences AND Aggression and Vivisection
These two pieces are connected and delightfully dark! Vox likes to perform ritual dissections for Alastor. Alastor finds it to be the only thing that arouses him enough for sex. They both do not waste the opportunity to enjoy the moment.
And You Know, It's Cause You're Beautiful
Alastor gets dosed with love potion and seeks Vox out for some relief. They have a wonderful night together.
Shall We Begin
Alastor uses his magic to connect to Vox's nervous system and fuck him. This piece is romantically one-sided.
What Makes You So Special?
This one's cute and sweet! The Vees collaborate with Asmodeus to open an Ozzie's in Pride. Alastor sings a song that finds both Vox and Alastor tangled in each other's arms at the end of the night.
Radiostatic Trilogy
Now I know this title is unassuming, but this series is very good! Alastor goes into heat while live on air. Vox was waiting for him to finish his broadcast and ends up helping him through his heat.
I'm Not A Saint (But I Could Be If I Tried)
Vox sacrificed himself to save Alastor and ended up in Heaven. Unfortunately for Heaven, he's not interested in being a perfect angel when his love is down below.
i want your violence, your silent sedation
Years ago, Vox killed Alastor on live television. Except that he didn't-he kept Alastor alive and dependent on him with no one the wiser.
Coal Black Heart
Vox has a meeting with Valentino and Alastor gets possessive. It ends poorly for them both.
Territory dispute
Alastor set a firm rule years ago when he became an overlord-no deer sinners were allowed in Pentagram City, so why is there one working at Vee Tower?
Error 404: Radio Demon Not Found
Years ago, Alastor made a website for his radio show. Vox finds it and helps bring him into the 21st century.
Calculated Risk
Alastor and Vox get drunk one night and Vox finally gives in to the desire to make Alastor his. With the morning comes regret and an unexpected confession that changes everything. Note: This fic contains dubious consent that seems to be noncon at first!
Happy Anniversary
Vox has a very special surprise for Alastor for their anniversary. Alastor is extremely touched by Vox's thoughtfulness.
Roasted Venison Haunch
Alastor decides to make venison for Vox. Vox is enjoying the time together, especially when he can be a little shit about it.
Late Night Partner
Alastor goes to his favorite bar and finds an enterprising young demon there waiting for him.
Fetch Quest
Alastor contracts I.M.P. to go to IKEA to find a blahaj for Vox's birthday.
Escort Mission
After Alastor's high praise of I.M.P.'s services, Vox contracts them to escort them on an anniversary dinner to Ozzie's.
How do you want your Radio Demon?
Valentino sets up a special night for Vox with one of his hookers. It's everything and yet nothing like what Vox really wants.
You took me to Hell, too
After being rejected by Alastor, Vox goes to a bar to drink away his sorrows. A freshly dead Velvette makes his acquaintance.
you get me closer to god
Alastor and Vox try out hypnotism in the bedroom.
You're on the Air
This one is by the beloved rillyrillo, author of the Safe with Me series! This piece is a short and sweet human AU. Alastor hosts a live podcast/radio show and allows time for callers to ask him questions. Vox calls in regularly.
long run the fox
An adorable little regency AU! Alastor is an eligible bachelor who is tired of the season's balls. His mother engages him in a wager to find at least a companion of some sort if he does not want to marry. Alastor is certain he'll win until he meets a peculiar gentleman by the name of Vox.
Signals Lost and Found
This series is a sequel to the fic Competing Frequencies, which I have not read. However, the series stands up really well by itself and has an excellent take on the consequences of Alastor's fight with Adam. Charlie hosts an activity where the residents have to make a list of people they have put before themselves. Alastor finds himself putting Vox on that list much to his chagrin.
Lady's First
This is also by princeliest, author of the 666! series and just as delightfully sexy! Alastor finally caves to Vox's little jokes and goads about them having sex together.
Home Again
This piece is my work! Alastor returns to Pentagram City after his absence and reconnects with both Rosie and Vox.
Backwards Evolution
Vox wakes up to find his head replaced back to the model he fell into Hell with. To make matters worse, while he adjusts he's at the mercy of Alastor who seems to want to play some perverse version of house with him. Now a series!
Mixed Signals
This one's a hilarious sort of crack fic. Alastor and Vox fight with their radio waves and end up accidentally impregnating Alastor. Now, Alastor and Vox must navigate their fraught relationship as the embryo saps away at Alastor's strength.
Empathia
When Alastor disappeared seven years ago, Vox ripped out his own heart and put it in a box. In his place, Vox.exe took control. Alastor notices the drastic changes in Vox's behavior and decides to uncover the root cause.
Fully Booked
This is an ABO fic that plays somewhat into the dynamics. Alastor desperately wants a child of his own so he makes a deal that will make him fertile and decides that Vox is the ideal partner for a strong child. Vox would just really like Alastor to stop fucking around and help him through his heat, goddammit.
Deals Are Meant to Be Broken
Years ago, Vox accidentally sealed himself and Alastor into a terrible pact and ended their friendship. Now, with Alastor's return, the two go through the growing pains of dealing with the fallout of that night.
Taming the Deer
Velvette and Valentino decide that the best next thing is to finally kill the Radio Demon. Vox can't go through with it. Instead, he kidnaps Alastor and attempts to woo him. Alastor is less than impressed.
Unfinished
Every Madman Has His Vice
This one has a really unique premise that I am enjoying immensely! Seven years ago, Alastor tore Vox's chest open and left him for dead. Now, Vox is back, and helping Charlie Morningstar with her new project, the Hazbin Hotel. What happened while he was gone? And how will Alastor react now that Vox has come back to life?
Magnolias Grow Best with Entertainment
Alastor is an omega and Vox is an alpha hopelessly pining after him. He decides to try and court Alastor-Alastor takes it entirely the wrong way.
Audio and Video
Alastor and Vox were business partners before Alastor disappeared. When he comes back, he immediately ropes Vox into helping him with the hotel. Shenanigans ensue.
A Deer Watcher's Odyssey
This one's fun and cute! Vox decides he's going to destroy Alastor emotionally by instigating a romantic relationship with him. Except, perhaps his actions are not motivated entirely by hate. Alastor finds himself curious and flattered as he becomes the object of a secret admirer's affection.
No Audience to Perform For
I love the way this is written! The interactions between Vox and Alastor feel very accurate! During the next extermination, Angelic Security fails astronomically and Vox suffers the consequences. Only, somehow, he's still alive, and trapped in Alastor's room.
Dapple Rose
This one explores an interesting premise of Alastor being the one obssessed with Vox! Vox and Valentino come to the hotel to discuss a business proposal with Charlie. Alastor takes this as an opportunity to secure Vox-the one that got away-back under his wing. Vox does not take it well.
Once Bitten, Back for More
This is written by prince-liest, and they wrote the 666! series so you know this is good! Vox has been following a topside crime podcast for years when the host suddenly dies. Vox wastes no time in finding him and trying to make him a friend, and possibly more. Alastor would just like something to make sense down here and for the TV man to maybe be a little less creepy.
Of Candied Pine and Cherried Smoke
If you liked the Safe with Me series, this is by the same author, rillyrillo! Vox's heat suppressants stop working because he's built up too much of a tolerance. In a panic, he contacts the only person in Hell that knows he's an omega. Alastor has never been affected by those base urges, except now Vox is working through 50 years of heat suppression and doing it in Alastor's very own bed.
Contested
Alastor contests his contract and wins his freedom. However, his freedom is still tied to the paper and he must find a way to properly dissolve his contract. Vox just wants to help his old partner out of whatever mess he's created.
His Chains
This is an intriguing take on their simultaneous respect and disdain for each other. Alastor's soul is sent for auction and Vox can't pass up the opportunity. Alastor dreads what his new dealer will put him through but Vox surprises him.
A Bad Deal
Please be advised, this fic involves rape. In an attempt to cheat Vox, Alastor offers his soul in a deal. His dealer takes offense and releases him from their contract, forcing him into the deal with Vox. This one is one-sided, wherein Vox takes what he wants and Alastor suffers for it. However, it is very well written and compelling!
Raw End of the Deal
Please be advised, this fic involves rape. Alastor's dealer has always taken a sick sort of satisfaction in using his tentacles against him. With the destruction of his microphone stand, Alastor finds himself repeatedly "encouraged" to find a way to fix it. Vox witnesses one of these moments and decides to take advantage.
A Gentle Touch
If you liked Addicted, check this fic out! It's written by the same author, dancingdog! A recently deceased Alastor is tricked into selling his soul and tasked with bringing other overlords to a mysterious bookshop. One night, he decides to go after Vox. Vox manages to impress him and escapes with his life and a burning curiosity for who the Radio Demon really is.
The Pictures Came and Broke Your Heart
After Alastor's fight with Adam, Vox seeks him out and they end up having sex. Angel catches it all on the hotel's camera feed as he battles his late night insomnia. With his new blackmail material, he demands Alastor give him all the juicy details and accidentally forces Alastor to confront his own feelings for the first time in decades.
candlelight
Heaven decides to implement a test of sorts to gauge if sinners really can change. This test is to put two well known rivals together into the same living space for an indeterminate amount of time. Vox and Alastor find themselves slipping back into old routines as they spend more time around each other.
For my friends who liked the last post, I hope this finds you!

Hi this may divert from my usual content, but as someone with a platform like this I need to speak up about this.
The Philippines-China maritime dispute has been going on for years now, but lately the tensions had been getting more and more worse to the point it’s super concerning now.
Here’s a bit of a history lesson: China claims that the West Philippine Sea is theirs because of the nine-dash line, but the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague ruled in 2016 that that had no basis under international law. Other than that, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) said that China’s historic rights on the territory no longer exists. So basically, the West Philippine Sea belongs to the Philippines.
However, China rejects that decision. They have harassed, intimidated, and even used armed conflict on our vessels. China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels had even used a water cannon against our ships TWICE, in which one incident resulted to getting seven Navy personnel wounded.
Worse, there are also allegations of a spy being planted here. Alice Guo, one of the mayors in Tarlac (a city in the Philippines) had mysteriously risen to power despite having no prior experience or connections whatsoever. Literally no one even knew her in her town. She just claims to live in a simple farm. However, she owns a luxury sports car and a helicopter. And somehow, everything regarding her past is inconsistent; she doesn’t know what her mother’s name was, who she grew up with, no school documents, hell she didn’t even have a birth certificate up until she was 17 years old. This was all brought up because she was involved in the criminal activities (like human trafficking, scams, etc.) of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) which also has the Chinese involved.
The US has also been taking advantage of the situation by deploying 9 EDCA sites (military bases) for a supposed military pact, but former US Marine Intelligence Officer Scott Ritter has admitted to using the Philippines as a tool to gain leverage over the Chinese.
What has our government done regarding this dispute? They’re too busy infighting to focus on the bigger picture and on how to settle on an agreement with China.
I just want to take the time to speak up and make people more aware about the ongoing dispute. I know that this has been going on for several years now, but my memory and knowledge about the topic may be a bit wonky so I apologize in advance if I had said anything wrong. You can add more information regarding this or correct the information that I've given if I phrased things wrong.
Regardless, I do know one thing: the West Philippine Sea is ours.

Eugenia Yosef and Lucas Lilieholm at CNN:
Israel is considering limiting humanitarian aid to Gaza after Donald Trump comes into office later this month in a bid to deprive Hamas of resources, according to an Israeli official familiar with the matter. Since October 7, Israel has been waging war in Gaza trying to dismantle Hamas militarily, but says the militants retain governing capacity through seizing aid. Such a move risks exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation. “The humanitarian aid is not reaching the right hands,” the official said, who added it was one of “several” options currently being considered. Relief organizations have consistently called for an increase in the amount of humanitarian aid allowed into the besieged strip, warning for months of the rising risk of famine for civilians.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in an update on Tuesday that only 2,205 aid trucks had entered Gaza in the month of December, excluding commercial vehicles and fuel. Israel disputed that number, saying there is no limit on the amount of aid that can enter Gaza and that over 5,000 trucks had entered over the course of the month, according to a statement from the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), which manages the flow of aid into the strip. UN officials say the number of trucks entering Gaza before the war was approximately 500 per day, or 15,000 per month. An estimated 91% of the territory’s 2.1 million residents are facing high levels of acute food insecurity, according to OCHA.
Israel seeks to continue their genocide campaign against Gazans by limiting humanitarian aid once Donald Trump returns to 1600.

"A Raven's Calling" Clan's Territory Map
Scroll for more information about the territories! (This map may update or change)
Tumblr media
About the territories: There are five clans in total, each clan lives in a unique environment suited for their skills. The territories vary in size with Owlclan being the largest and Ravenclan being the second. However, there are hardly any disputes over borders as Owlclan has open borders with their allies Ospreyclan and Vultureclan, and Ravenclan and Hawkclan have more land located at the far side of their territories which can be utilized when necessary. The other clans allowed Ravenclan to move into the territory not only because it was Starclan's will but because the other clans have no interest in Ravenclan's territory.
Ravenclan: Ravenclan's territory is located inside a thick oak forest with large twisted roots and giant ancient oaks that reach high above the canopy. The forest was once considered too dangerous for cats to live in with the many predators and dangers lurking within the forest. The clan's camps is found inside of a grotto, the entrance can be found next to a giant ancient oak in the side of a small cliffside. There is a small creek that flows into the territory and into the grotto tunnels. Ravenclan shares borders with Hawkclan and Vultureclan.
Hawkclan: Hawkclan's territory is located on a rough plains environment with scattered trees; oak and cottonwood trees, large boulders, and a river running through it. Hawkclan's camp is found tucked inside some large boulders with burrows under the rocks, when the weather is nice they sleep in the clearing of their camp. Hawkclan uses the wide open plains for hunting, they are also skilled at climbing the tall cottonwood trees and attacking from above. They share a border with Ravenclan and Ospreyclan.
Owlclan: Owlclan's territory is found in a quaking aspen forest with scattered sycamore trees. There are many tree stumps and fallen trees in the territory as it was once the location for a lumbermill. Their camp is located in the clearing of the abandoned lumbermill, their dens are made inside hollow logs and stumps. There is old twoleg equipment left behind but it is old and rusted, twolegs have not returned for it. Owlclan is nocturnal. Owlclan cats are solitary hunters and often only hunt at night. They share a border with Vultureclan and Ospreyclan, their borders are open to their allies.
Vultureclan: Vultureclan is located on a mountain side with an evergreen forest spanning across the territory. The terrain is rough and littered with boulders and rock with small cliffs leading up the side of the mountains. Vultureclan has made their camp inside the side of the mountain in small caves with cliff ledges overlooking the territory below. Vultureclan cats hunt in large groups, they will often attack large predators and steal food from them. They share borders with Owlclan and Ravenclan.
Ospreyclan: Ospreyclan's territory is found located near a hotsprings and large and small bodies of water. There is a small chunk of plains on their land, it is unknown what Ospreyclan uses it for as they prefer the rocky terrain of the Hot Springs. However, Ospreyclan cats are known for their adaptation, they seem to be suited for almost any environment. They hunt freshwater prey in the lake, pond, and rivers located on their territory, they hardly ever hunt mammals. Their camp is located behind a waterfall inside a small cavern, it is reached by using the stones in the small lake. There is a chasm found on the territory that looks down into the Mooncrystal Cavern, not much can be seen looking down into it and it is considered extremely dangerous because of the large drop and waterfalls leading down into it.
Mooncrystal Cavern: The Mooncrystal Cavern can only be reached through a tunnel system, the entrance is located inside the gorge. Medicine cats and leaders are the only cats permitted inside, mostly because any normal cat would get lost inside the winding tunnels. It is a long, dark walk to the cavern. The cavern is large with pools of water and running rivers inside of it. Waterfalls cascade down from the chasm above located in Ospreyclan. In the center of the cavern is the Mooncrystal, a large white crystal that shimmers like starlight when the moon hits it. The crystal is surrounded by water but can be reached by using the stones scattered in the water, rocks surround the crystal.
The Quarry: An old abandoned quarry is where the clans hold their gatherings. The quarry is large with multiple paths leading down into it, the biggest opening is located near Ravenclan. In the center of the quarry there is a large spire of stone where each of the leaders sit during a gathering. The Mooncrystal Cavern entrance is located inside the quarry, cats are forbidden from entering unless they are a Medicine cat or Leader.
Twoleg Settlement: The Twoleg Settlement is located across the Thunderpath from the clan territories, the closest clan is Ravenclan. The closest part of the settlement is small but gets large the further you travel through it. The settlement is known for its fishing, there are many boats out on the lake. Twolegs are often seen giving away fish to animals or other twolegs near the shore.
The Vast Lake: The Vast Lake is not an ocean, but the other side cannot be seen. Cats keep there distance from the lake as during the warmer seasons it is always busy with Twolegs and boats.
Abandoned Lumberyard: The Abandoned Lumberyard was once a running lumbermill but was abandoned during a flood from the mountains. Twolegs have not returned and there is leftover equipment and cut trees still there in the forest. The Owlclan cats use the stacks of cut lumber for their camp as well as the many tree stumps left behind.
Twoleg Farm: The Twoleg Farm is located past the Clover Meadows. It has large fenced pastures filled with all kinds of animals; horses, cattle, donkeys, goats, and sheep. There are small fields of different plants growing on the far side of the farm, large monsters tear up the fields during certain seasons. Cats keep their distance, the monsters aren't the only dangers on the farm.
Junkyard: The Junkyard is located near Vultureclan across the Thunderpath. There is a large silver barrier with sharp barbs that goes around the entire place. It is filled with dead monsters, Twoleg junk, and dangerous materials. The Junkyard is home to many rogues and loners, Twolegs are often seen roaming the yard as well.
Hot Springs: The Hot Springs are located in Ospreyclan territory, the water comes from the mountains and lake located behind Ospreyclan territory. The hot Springs have no living prey in them but can be useful in the cold seasons for melting ice and warming cats who are freezing or have aching joints.
Clover Meadows: The Clover Meadows are filled with white clover and other wildflowers. The meadow is located along Ravenclan's and Hawkclan's south border. It is open territory, it belongs to neither clan and is often used for collecting herbs.
The Valley: The Valley leads down into a large open plains. It is considered extremely dangerous as the valley is full of animals such as elk, deer, bison, and goats which attract predators. On the far side of the valley is a ridge of mountains, no cat has ever been that far.
Thunderpath/Bridge: The Thunderpath runs along Ravenclan and Vultureclan. While it is quite large and dangerous, monsters are few on the path. Cats typically avoid the path completely but clans like Vultureclan will often cross it in search of herbs and prey. There is a bridge in Vultureclan territory that the monsters travel over to get across the small river running through Vultureclan.

Book of the Week: Panguan
Tumblr media
Author: Mu Su Li (木苏里)
Genre: cultivation, horror, modern setting, danmei
Rating: M
My Synopsis: Wen Shi has been on a quest for a thousand years to find his soul, but between his strange new descendant disciple, his even stranger new renter, and all those damn cages randomly sucking him in, maybe he's on to something this go-around.
My Review: Once again a romantic banger by Mu Su Li. This couple is kinda slow burn and don't get together until the endish, but I love the intimacy between them that happens even before they get together. I am also a sucker for characters who go absolutely feral when something happens to their SO, and Wen Shi goes feral quite a few times. "Yeah this is our emotionally stable, most well put-together ancestor!" the absolute lies of this statement, and everyone who could ever dispute it is just indefinitely locked up LOL. On another, non-romance related note: I love the treatment of the dead in this story as people deserving of kindness, care, and dignity. Even when they're being terrifying, eternally-fearless Wen Shi and Xie Wen (these names were a doozy...) interact with them so thoughtfully, as the only reason why they still exist in the world is due to regrets, most of which are reasonable and sympathetic.
I have a few small content warnings that are just for genre-typical horror conventions and the main couple's dynamics. The main couple are a shizun/disciple pair who don't get together until a thousand years after having been separated from each other, with the implication being that the shizun didn't actually develop feelings for his disciple until his disciple was an adult (and also due to spoiler-territory happenings on the part of the then-adult disciple). However, the shizun does raise the disciple from early childhood, which is relevant to their closeness, so if that makes you uncomfortable, this may not be the story for you.
Translation: incomplete but currently back from hiatus; mtl exists but sucks

Night Fury Lore
Thought I'd post my headcanons for HTTYD's Night Furies since we never got proper lore about them. This will probably be updated as time goes on and any OCs I post will adhere to these headcanons. Let me know what y'all think!
~ ~ ~
Sexual Dimorphism
Male Night Furies are made for hunting. They tend to be lean and swift with large wings that allow them to fly for extended periods of time without tiring.
Female Night Furies are made to protect their nests and offspring with their bulkier builds, and are quite vicious when threatened. They tend to be more difficult to train than male Furies as they’re often very distrustful of humans.
Stages of Maturity
Egg - 0 to 6 months Tiny Tooth - 6 months to 4 years Short Wing - 4 to 10 years Broad Wing - 10 to 80 years Titan Wing - 80 to 100 years
Aging
Night Furies reach full adulthood at 15 years of age with females maturing slightly faster than males.
As they age, male Furies will have more nubs along their jawline than female Furies. Males will have a maximum of 5, while females will have 3.
Spines lengthen, sharpen, and harden with age.
Reproduction
Night Furies mate for life.
Females will lay a clutch of 1-3 eggs at a time, which is why Night Furies tend to be rarer than other dragons.
Population
Excessive hunting by humans has led to the near extinction of Night Furies. The only stable population known to exist is located on the island of Nóttsheim.
Habitat
Night Furies inhabit high mountain caves that open directly to the sky for easy takeoff. Such caves also keep them safe from hunters and other dragons.
Diet
Fish Deer Boar
Behavior
Night Furies are nocturnal so they hunt at night and sleep during the day.
Similar to birds, newly hatched Furies will imprint on the first thing they see, which is usually their parents.
Night Furies are the most secretive of the dragon species. They have learned to hide away from humanity to protect themselves, finding refuge on islands like Nóttsheim where they can raise their young in peace and grow old without fear of hunters.
Night Fury flocks function similarly to wolf packs with the eldest mated pair acting as the leaders. Many flocks will also have a titan wing matriarch who ranks above the mated pair. She is greatly respected by the rest of the flock for her age and wisdom.
Night Furies can heat their spines up to the point that they glow. This ability is used to communicate with others of their species within pitch-black environments, warm their eggs and hatchlings, and for threat and dominance displays.
Night Furies are sworn enemies of Whispering Deaths and Skrills. The exact reasons for this rivalry are unknown but it’s believed to largely be due to territory disputes. The species have also been known to destroy each other’s eggs and nests.

Territorial Dispute part 2
Tumblr media
Finally~! He had caught that ever illusive prey of his~ for trillions of years Calama had slipped away or drove him off...but his patience payed off, Calama's body has started to fail him and finally he will purge this unsightly mistake. He salivated at the thought before leaning in, making sure he phased a tendril under the island so Calama couldnt phase free.
Tumblr media
Goliapede: "You pathetic little worm~! How long did you think you could evade me? Look at how easily I squeeze and crush your disgusting form like the insect you are!"
Calama groaned and gurgled trying to wiggle free, but the goliath had him pinned he could feel something crack under the weight and a pain shoot down his tail.
Goliapede: "Once i dispatch you I will rend your father's world to nothing and dispatch of all the tainded creature just like you that he made. A failure of an Arceus like him deserves no less~!" he gloated his body vibrating with excitement.
Calama continued to squirm, he wasnt dead yet and so long as he was still alive he had to fight, he couldn't let Goliaopede discover Narcissa. He managed to twist enough to face the void serpent and without hesitation proceeded to burn out his eye.
Tumblr media
Goliapede screeched as his eye was destroyed, his tendril lifting off of Calama to rub at the wound giving the other Elder Giratina the opening he needed to free himself, and in Goliapede's distracted state carve a massive wound down his pack
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The unholy noise the titan made from the pain shook the void, even those within Calama's world could feel the heavens beyond shake, if no one knew there was a fight they certenly knew now. But in his pain Goliapede lashed out at everything and anything in his path, partially blinded his aim wasn't great but when he finally located Calama he roared in fury-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*BOOM*
The pain Calama felt was unbearable, in the heat of the moment he had not been able to phase into a ghostly state to pass through the island he was flung into. He took the full force of the impact, that crack he felt early becoming a full "SNAP!" as he felt a horrid pain where his back impacted the rock. But he didn't have time to fuss over his wounds he quickly raised his head to look for the monster's next attack and hopefully dodge it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What luck...the injuries Calama dealt had chased off the monster for now...but for how long? Calama couldn't say, but as the relieve of the fight being over washed over him the elder Giratina groaned and when he tried to move having heard the familiar wing beats of Lunaala approaching, his form gave out-

Calama has fainted and Narcissa is open for asks

BREAKING: VALENTINE'S DAY EXPLOSION AT THE GRAND ROYALE CLAIMS KANG FAMILY PATRIARCH; ONYX CIRCUIT CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY
February 14th, 2025 - 2:13 PM
An explosion rocked the Grand Royale Casino's private conference suite during a high-level meeting between Devil's Junction's founding families, killing Min-ho "The Ghost" Kang instantly and leaving multiple others injured. The blast occurred at approximately 1:32 PM in the casino's prestigious Kingmaker's Room, where representatives from all six families had gathered to discuss recent territory disputes. This attack comes one month after the Onyx Circuit's first strike on the Grand Royale, where they orchestrated a devastating fire causing $50 million in damages.
INITIAL REPORT INDICATES:
Min-ho Kang confirmed dead at the scene
12 injured including three in critical condition at Angel's Rest Medical Center
Thomas Kang among the injured
Catastrophic damage to the Grand Royale's executive floor
Secondary fires triggered in adjacent gaming areas
Security footage from the casino shows systematic failures across all surveillance systems exactly 4 minutes before the explosion, matching the pattern of the January 14th attack. Multiple black cards bearing the Onyx Circuit's distinctive insignia were recovered from the blast site, including one deliberately placed mere feet from where Kang had been seated. This mirrors their previous calling card left during last month's arson attack. The timing of today's attack is particularly significant as it marks the first time in decades that all six family heads were gathered in one location.
UPDATE 3:45 PM: Emergency services are still working to contain multiple fires across the Grand Royale's upper floors. As with the January incident, several safety deposit boxes in the high-roller section were compromised during the chaos.
UPDATE 4:27 PM: Anonymous sources report that crucial documents regarding the families' shared territories were missing from the conference room, suggesting the explosion may have served as cover for intelligence gathering - a tactic consistent with the Onyx Circuit's previous operations.
This attack represents a significant escalation in the Onyx Circuit's campaign against Devil's Junction's traditional power structure. Each incident has shown increasing boldness and tactical sophistication, with today's bombing marking their most direct and lethal attack yet. The DJPD has established a six-block security perimeter around the Grand Royale, while the Chief Inspector has called for an emergency meeting with the remaining family heads. The Kang family has yet to release an official statement, though sources indicate rapid movement within their organization's hierarchy. Law enforcement officials note that the Onyx Circuit's pattern of targeting the Grand Royale suggests a deeper vendetta against the establishment or its owners. The Grand Royale Casino will be closed until further notice.
OUT OF CHARACTER
Feel free to integrate the new development into your threads
Your character could be one of the injured
Take note that The Grand Royale will be closed for renovations

i have *got* to sit down and take some updated pictures of the new guys. all are doing really well and i couldn't be happier! i moved them out of the quarantine tank a few days ago, and they've already started settling in to their permanent homes :3
i've named all of the t. pumila, and can tell them apart now! unfortunately, i ended up with 2 males and 1 female, but i haven't noticed any major aggression issues aside from small territorial disputes. the two males are name frog and toad, and the female is cricket! all things that make croaking/chripping sounds..
the b. hendra i have dubbed chai, because they're chai colored! i haven't figured out their sex yet, but i am currently leaning towards female. only time will tell though, because they're still very young. i guess if they start making bubble nests in a few months i'll know 😅
the otocinclus are good too! i don't have as much to say about them, they're just silly little guys.

Have You Read This Web Novel?
Tumblr media
If you’re in the process of reading this web novel, please choose whichever option best fits your situation. You do not have to be completely finished with it to answer “yes.”
If you’ve never heard of it, please read the description below the cut!
See similar polls and results here!
Novel Updates:
The gate’s narrow, the road small for them. Their past and future interwoven into a tangled, messed up web. Thirteen years of sour and bittersweet memories. And seven years in between that washed out everything they had like water, leaving only stark, plain, throbbing dullness.
Carrd:
Guomen follows the story of Xu Xilin and Dou Xun starting from the adolescence to adulthood. If it had to be summarized with a sentence without going into spoiler territory, this would probably be the ideal one.
However Guomen, for me, is about the life itself; with all the ups and downs, joys and sorrows, success and failure and the mix of all. It's about the deskmate you had in highschool, the neighbour next door, the passersby you brushed shoulders with on the street and it's about you.
Priest's writing brings out the emotions so raw and sincere and lays them out for you not to read but feel. The issues covered are handled with care and realistically. It tells about the mundane life, family disputes, the battles people fight with their environment and inner selves, sometimes losing and sometimes conquering these battles in a way that makes it relatable and touches a spot deep within your heart. What made me personally connect with Guomen was how it's able to make readers feel heard in how it represents the topics mentioned before. There might be times where you might find yourself facing and reflecting on your own life and your environment because you see yourself in the characters.

Update(1057ET): Ukraine's earlier claim that its territory had been struck by an intercontinental ballistic missile fired by Russia is being hotly disputed, hours after widespread reports first appeared. US officials are saying it appears to be a new intermediate-range ballistic missile and not an ICBM which targeted the central city of Dnipro
The NY Times has reported in follow-up of the attack that "several Western officials said that the weapon was not an ICBM and instead was likely an intermediate-range missile that flies shorter distances."
Zelensky himself had claimed Russia used a new class of missile. "All the parameters — speed, altitude — match those of an intercontinental ballistic missile," he said. "All expert evaluations are underway." But US defense officials are contradicting this:
A senior U.S. official said the weapon appeared to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile, adding, "But it is a new type we have been tracking."

d6ClanCats System Playtesting P4 - Autumn
This is part of my d6CatClans pen&paper solo system.
And the playtest continues. No real changes since last time, so we can hop right in.
Starting Out
For reference, these are the steps we will be following for this posting:
2. Begin Season. Roll General Seasonal Table. Attend any general situations that have season impacts. Tick down situation timers.
3. Assess meters in order, rolling their tables as you go if necessary.
4. Update ages. Attend ceremonies. Check for new expecting queens.
5. Assign patrols for season (or moon, if desired). Resolve expected litters.
6. Proceed with patrol checks and tables for all patrols.
7. Update any lingering patients from this moon. Improve those within limit, deteriorate those outside of it. Check for any spreading sickness from latter.
8. Repeat 4-7 for next two moons of season (skip 6 if you prefer to simplify).
Season Start
We're now into fall, which means another mellow season, and a healthy amount of time before the next dry season. This is the time to have more queens, ideally. Triage will be tight come winter (or rather, the wet season) since I left its modifiers at default, but Scarcity is the more reliably heavy choke on growing the clan.
In theory, anyway. Let's see what the general season table has for us.
Oh, frick. We roll 11, which is rare, and gives *Major External Attack*. One cat is either going to be injured or killed, evens or odds. Let's determine which cat first. I'll roll a d8 since I have one, straight down the line of 8 clan members. A result of 3 means Termitestep.
This evens/odds has the potential to be catastrophic. Let's do it.
Odds. Termitestep is dead. What the hell happened? What happens now? We don't have a medicine cat! Ahhh!
We'll find out. For now, what happened? Let's roll some dice. Predator or outsider? Outsider. Galeclaw? No. Known cat? No. Hm.
Was it a fight? Yes. Territorial? Yes. Do we have a faction in the unexplored territory unit north of our camp?
Dice say yes.
Damn territorial dispute and Duskstar is still away. What kind of group? Clan or Tribe or else? Clan. Any relation to ours? Yes.
Oh hell. Are they other survivors? Yes. But surely Galeclaw knows? He doesn't.
Hm. Are they a recent branch off StormClan or a previous one? Previous. Were they exiled? Yes. Beliefs or actions? Beliefs. I think these were hardcore isolationists. Maybe they felt the clan was becoming too soft, too big, too open. They wanted to train more fighters and outline the border in blood because of predator encroachments. Maybe they had the support of a medicine cat who foresaw the hyenas and the stampede, but their visions were jumbled and the warnings unheeded. So these guys left a long time ago.
They didn't kill Termitestep out of pure spite. It was a warning to a group of unfamiliar cat-scents they've diverged from, a warning to stay away or else.
For now, I'll make notes on the situation.
Blood Kin - Unknown to StormClan, they've settled on the borders of a dangerously wary offshoot of their own kin. Blood has already been spilled. Indefinite.
And the faction...
HarrowClan - Camp at C5. A past isolationist offshoot of StormClan, had visions of the disaster than occurred. Fiercely protective of their borders.
I check our trickle-in survivors situation again and this time, we do get one. I check if it's Galeclaw, since he exists. No. It's someone else. Time to spin up a cat.
This is what I get.
Brightfoot - ginger tabby she-cat
Tactless, L0/0, H5
Healthy, Moons 72
I think she's actually the one to find Termitestep's body, and she recognizes him even though it's been a while. She doesn't recognize the HarrowClan scent. Dice say they split off when she was a kit. She comes into the clan, though there's a good amount of distress over her being found near the body. A few weeks of strong catches soothe nerves.
I tick down Situation timers.
#3
So. Meters?
Scarcity is 2, and our limit 3. No overflow. Triage is 5 due to no medicine cat, and our limit 1.
Trespass is 1. Galeclaw's timer resets. Some dicerolls determine he's encountered HarrowClan scents, and it's intensified his ideas to usurp.
Discontent. Oh by. Well it starts at 1, but it won't stay there this time. +1 for missing leader, +1 for missing medicine cat, +1 for delayed exploration patrol. 4. I have to roll on that table four times. Let's see how it goes.
10, 9, 5, 7.
Acaciapaw's stress timer resets, to no one's surprise. There's an argument, but it thankfully doesn't lead to an injurious fight. One roll is nothing. Last roll, however - and a followup roll confirms this - means rebellious feelings are stirring. To no one's surprise. Let's see who's spearhearing - I'll include Galeclaw in this check.
But no, it's Mudwhisker the deputy who's at the center of the rebellious sentiment. On reflection, it makes sense. He's the sole present leader at the moment with no medicine cat prospects in sight, his apprentice is in warrior-ready purgatory, no one's seen the leader in moons. His sentiment is directionless for now, but it's very much there.
(D) Mudwhisker Frustrated - Internal Rebellious - The young deputy is frustrated and overburdened by circumstances. Seasons Remaining: 4
It's going to be a long season.
# Autumn, Moon 1
#4
Ages are updated. Acaciapaw's readiness to become a warrior remains frustrated. A check for new queens comes up negative.
#5
I assign Brightfoot, Mudwhisker, and Acaciapaw to hunt. Maybe we can get a boon table. I assign Liontail to border alone - sorry, girl. Duskstar and Rainheart still yonder. No new litters.
#6
Border patrol. A neutral success.
Hunting patrol. Only a neutral success.
Exploration patrol. Let's come home, ladies. Their hunting check is... a success, no thanks to Duskstar. Sorry, you'll get your time. We do get to travel this moon, but first tables. They discover a danger in this territory unit - maybe there's a significant population of snakes? Sounds good to me.
They head home. Finally. There's a wreck waiting for them at home, and Duskstar is surely aghast to discover Termitestep gone and buried. Hm. How's she handling it? Some dicerolls later, she's considering hunting out his attackers. But only considering it, right now.
We'll see.
#7
No patients this moon. Thankfully.
# Autumn, Moon 2
#4
Ages updated. Acaciapaw - finally - gets to become a warrior. Duskstar names him Acaciafur, and he gains a Legend point. No new queens per the check.
#5
Liontail, Duskstar, and Rainheart go on border patrol. Mudwhisker, Brightfoot, and Acaciafur hunt. No new litters.
#6
Border patrol. Despire Rainheart being offskill, we get the three successes needed for the boon table. We have an encounter at the border with - evens/odds... - HarrowClan. A border patrol of their own? No. Have they had a sign of some kind? Yes, it would seem. There's three cats in their group as well, including their medicine cat. Hm. Maybe the presence of StormClan accidentally threatened their perceived access to their ancestors at the Moonfang - it's on the other side of our territory from them now after all. The even numbers and vulnerability of escorting their medicine cat stays claws from an immediate fight, and Liontail's skill 5 ensures they back off thanks too our boon roll. That roll also gives her a Legend point.
Liontail's the one to ask if they killed our medicine cat. The wording registers with the HarrowClan cats, but no one's quick to apologize. Rainheart, thinking they don't understand, starts to explain since Duskstar still isn't saying anything.
The medicine cat listens. Comprehending. The warriors aren't. I think HarrowClan are extremely protective to the point of controlling with their medicine cats. The dice agree. Duskstar remains frustratingly silent.
Liontail issues a warning - stay out of StormClan territory or else. Rainheart tries to push things talkative, but it's not really going that way. Duskstar finally speaks, but only to reaffirm Liontail's words.
It's over. For now.
Hunting Patrol. Only a neutral success here. They do catch an odd scent. It's HarrowClan. The same patrol? No. A spy. They track the spy towards their camp. All fail an offskill fighting check to catch the spy. The spy doesn't engage, merely fleeing. HarrowClan's gaining intel on their new neighbors.
#7
No patients this moon.
# Autumn, Moon 3
#4
Ages updated. Spottedstorm returns to warriorhood as her kit becomes an apprentice, Wallowpaw. Feeling the clan needs more strong fighters, Duskstar assigns him to Liontail. Our check for new queens comes up positive.
I do a followup roll to see how many - one - and then roll among the prospective queens and it turns out it's Brightfoot.
Man, we really don't have many toms. But I roll on the fathers table and it's ambiguous - an outside genetically, but queens don't need to tell. One last roll determines she's expecting 3 kits. A blessing indeed, hopefully.
#5
I assign Duskstar, Liontail, Wallowpaw, and Spottedstorm to border patrol, then Mudwhisker, Rainheart, and Acaciafur to hunting. Remembering deputy seasonal abilities, I give the border patrol a free bonus success this time. No new litters.
#6
Border patrol. Even without the bonus point, we would've gotten the boon table, but I'll take it. They meet an outsider and it proves to be Galeclaw, who it turns out has been snooping into HarrowClan territory, and all is not well there. He's discovered that they're a proper clan, yes - and that they have no leader. He does take the opportunity to poke that StormClan might as well not have a leader - he recognizes Duskstar well enough. Liontail and Duskstar put together that that's why the ability to get to the Moonfang is pressing for their neighbors.
Duskstar is plain nonparticipant again, the rolls insist. Galeclaw challenges her outright. She says that she'll accept - on the condition that if she wins, he'll join StormClan. Some of the cats around are ruffled by the idea, but Galeclaw accepts. Duskstar attempts a fighting check...
And succeeds despite her disadvantage.
I'll count that as spending a Legend point to bring a cat in, since I'm also going to let it lower his situation timer (which will swap to a Discontent situation).
Galeclaw joins StormClan.
Hunting patrol. A boon of successes, leading to a hunting skillup. It goes to Rainheart.
#7
No patients this moon.
Closing
Observations. (Note from past me: I wrote this before putting it up, so it's a little behind my actual progress on modifications. Kept for posterity.)
If I thought medicine cats needed more to do before, I doubly think so now. While the Triage table can and will make things get scary if we have overflow, we're barely having patients, never mind overflow. I don't expect every season to be a pandemic or even for years to be rough on the regular. But we've been without a medicine cat for a season and not really felt it. Granted, we also don't have elders and only had one kit... but nothing is endangering them. I think the answer might be a flat diceroll each moon to check if dependents get ill. Maybe one similar to the expecting queen check in math. A d6 minus current Triage, and if 0 or lower, d3 dependents become patients? I'll make a note of the idea, but I won't apply it this year of play.
I think a system might be desirable for medicine cat choosing omens or cat-directed omens in general. They're not necessary, but cats might seek them sometimes. Maybe that can be a type of Legend point expenditure.
Next will be winter - or for us, the wet season. High Triage with no medicine cat in sight. Should be fun. See you next time.
