Terrans
Humanity.
Listen well, for this is a tale of warning and of caution.
When humanity was first observed, many of the council thought they should be eradicated. A tumultuous and violent species who revelled in the destruction of their own kind. It was a close thing, but the council voted and humanity was allowed to develop - under the condition that none were to contact them until they were deemed ready.
Humanity never gave us the chance to do so.
They progressed their technology in timeframes yet unseen. They went from discovering electricity to landing on their own moon in a matter of decades - doing so with primitive technology, but it was a feat nonetheless.
From there they developed their own world - the space around their home planet Terra became a field of haphazard signals and messages, a bombardment of signals that interfered with our observational machinery. Due to this we weren’t ready when humanity ventured into the stars truly for the first time. They blasted themselves out of their atmosphere with controlled explosions of all things, their technology was nowhere near discovering antimatter coupling yet. Despite this they reached the edge of the quarantine zone within a matter of years, and we were discovered.
Despite our initial thoughts, humanity reacted very differently to us than expected. They didn’t wage wars on us, didn’t lay claim to our planets. They met us with unrestrained joy at finding others in the universe. They told us of their numerous attempts to reach out to us, and showed us some of their works of fiction that depicted how they imagined us (though they seemed to hide some others for reasons we couldn’t ascertain).
Humanity was welcomed into the stars, and they became commonplace. Their biology was baffling and their behaviour bizarre, but we accommodated them and they taught us how to work with them.
Centuries passed, and though the initial explorers were long gone, humanity had become a part of the council as low ranking members. Their species had become mostly peaceful, lowering their internal wars to less than skirmishes. Humanity’s violent and cruel nature seemed to have been tempered by the stars.
We were wrong.
From beyond the councils borders, beyond the observable space in the void, a threat appeared. They blasted through our sensors and demolished our border colonies in hours. Our intel on them was near zero due to the ferocity they annihilated our kin.
They reached the inner borders of the council, and the elder members prepared for a bitter battle. To our surprise, humanity asked to join the defence. They told us that their kin had settled on some of the border colonies, and that many had lost loved ones. We allowed humanity to join our last fight, even if we didn’t expect them to affect the battle.
We were wrong.
Many of my comrades who survived the battle have sleep terrors to this day. Not of the void settlers, but of the humans. The cruelty and viciousness we thought had disappeared from their culture came back with a vengeance. Who we had seen as scientists and farmers for centuries, comrades we had known for decades - they showed us that monsters don’t come from the void.
The void settlers never stood a chance. The council was barely able to get in formation before the battle was ended. If the void bringers tactics were ferocious, then the Terran’s were monstrous. For every ship they lost, every life they sacrificed, the void settlers lost a battalion, a planet’s worth of lives.
This loss brought the void settlers much shame and anger. They made a mistake that haunts me to this day. They used their speed to reach Terra before the council could relay to the humans the threat. Humanity watched as Terra split, as trillions of their families and non-fighting members were eradicated.
The fighting ceased. Humanity seemed to have frozen. Their fleets stopped dead in space and their communications went silent. Where humanity had been surrounded by wavelengths and frequencies that interfered with some technology still, the space around them became eerily silent, as though the death of the planet had killed even those off world.
The void settlers continued their attack on the council and disregarded Humanity. No need to worry about a broken opponent… Right?
They were wrong.
The Terran’s weren’t dead, or even broken. It was later revealed that the freeze had been due to grief. Humanity had lost its home world, but worse than that it had lost its peaceable citizens. The ones who should have been safe from the conflict.
All of humanity had watched, and all of humanity had grieved. But they were not broken.
The void settlers learnt this very soon.
Humanity descended on them in ways that made the last defence seem like a diplomatic discussion. We though we had seen the worst of humanity in our early observations. WE. WERE. WRONG.
Humanity has a saying Hell hath no wrath like a woman scorned”, but the council has adapted it: “The void hath no wrath like a Terran without a home”.
The void settlers were routed from every planet they had taken. They retreated to the void leaving behind their technology and supplies, not even taking the time to recover some of their teams. But the humans didn’t stop.
In a move that the council had forbidden for millennia, the humans flew into the void. The entirety of the Terran race disappeared into the blackness beyond space and wasn’t heard from for longer than we had known of them.
The council mourned their losses, but viewed their final act as something done out of the madness of their loss. The Terran’s were remembered as warriors, as fighters, but also as family. They became known to those of us who’d seen them fight as “The angels of Death”.
I never expected to see a Terran again, assumed that the void had devoured them and their destructive grief with them. But one day a vessel I was onboard, tasked with assessing possible colonies to rebuild in the border planets - it detected something.
The frequencies and wavelengths of data that had only ever been human in nature. They were coming from the void.
The council watched as humanity emerged unexpected for the second time.
The flagship docked with our observation vessel, and the leaders came aboard to see us. I vaguely recognised the captain. Their features so slightly similar to the grief driven warrior we’d watched descend into the void. We asked what had happened, and the captain responded with the most chilling visage I had seen since the first footage of the void settlers. Their baring of their teeth was savage and joyous. So similar to the expression we saw at first meeting, yet so distorted. In that moment I saw what could have happened if the Terran’s had waged war on us.
“We won.”

Hi! I was wondering if you knew any good terms for human/creature races in fantasy? I'm trying to come up with something more unique then putting "born" or "blood" (dragonborn, wolfblood, etc.) on the end, but also not trying to make it seem like they're less then the other races. If you don't know any then that's okay, I was just wondering!
Hi, thanks for asking! Here are some other suffixes you can use instead of "–born" or "–blood":
–kin: Suggests a familial or species connection.
–folk: Implies a community or people.
–shade: Can imply a mystical or ethereal nature.
–heart: Indicates character or nature.
–clan: Suggests a strong family or tribal bond.
–borne: Variation of –born.
–morph: Can be used for creatures that can shape-shift or transform.
Not sure exactly what type of term you're looking for here, but tossing out a few ideas specific to the creature or their power:
Dracari: From "draco" (dragon).
Lycanthi: From "lycanthrope" (werewolf).
Saurin: From "saurian" (lizard-like creatures).
Avesari: From "aves" (birds).
Felidar: From "feline".
Aquarid: From "aqua" (water).
Terradin: From "terra" (earth).
Eldari: From "elder".
Sylphar: From "sylph" (air spirits).
Nymphari: From "nymph" (nature spirits).
Feylin: From "fey" (fairy).
Draconii: Mystical variation of "dragon".
When coming up with a name for a race of humans or creatures, you can go about it any number of ways: mix elements of nature with cultural aspects, draw inspiration from existing deities or mythological creatures, or combine parts of relevant words with suffixes. See my previous post for more! Hope this helped ❤

Hi! As someone newer to ak, I would actually really love a “rawest Ak lines” list if u don’t mind sharing!
Okay so if I *did* run this, I would have to crowdsource some, because I haven't read everything, and I don't always remember to update my document when I do read shit. So my list is extremely biased, extremely incomplete, and very all over the fucking place. Do not take this as a comprehensive list, but rather just some of my favorites:
Patriot: "Rhodes Island. I will advance." A classic. A legend. A salsa that everyone at the table can enjoy.
Rosmontis: "You didn't want to die alone. You want to be remembered by me, and live on within me. But no. I came here just to watch you die. And now, I've forgotten you."
Eblana: "You'll remember me, shapeshifter. Your long and refractory memory will have chapters that belong to me." (not the official translation but I'm using this one because it goes SOOOO much harder)
Andoain: "I would rather be the torch that burns by the feet of those who are freezing to death. Even if its flame will soon be extinguished."
In game boss description text for Kristen Wright: Egotist. Betrayer. Seeker. Loner. Pioneer. Goodnight, Terra.
and of course, Woodrow: "May this bullet forgive what my heart cannot."
and then of course, Stultifera Navis, which has so many it was basically a contest to see who got the coolest line before the event ended. I have literally 8 lines in my notes document, my favorites being:
Irene: "You have not sinned in any way. The Holy Scriptures do not even mention your existence. Right now it is only I, as an Iberian, who is handing down this verdict. The scourge of the seas must be wiped out. You have no right to live. In the name of Iberia."
Carmen: “You, and your pathetic ideas, will be buried in Iberia. Before your last breath, be sure to pass on our thunderous roar to your kin. ‘The sea faces an ancient enemy called civilization, one you stand no chance of overcoming.'”
Captain Alfonso: “Remember this well, Irene! Return to land and sing the praises of Alfonso's feats! The last monster that Alfonso slew... was himself!”
Ulpianus: “If you care about the word of God, then so be it. The Seaborn are not gods, nor are their forefathers. I have seen how your gods die, their screams coursing through the currents, their flesh and blood smeared across abyssal ravines.”
I think for the sake of the hypothetical bracket, I'd probably want to limit it to one line per event before the entire thing is consumed entirely by just Stultifera Navis

I hope that Terra: A Journey gets an official English translation, because the world-building it's got is fascinating, especially in regards to how the Oni and Anasa relate to the Sarkaz.
Oni and Anasa are Teekaz races that split off from the Sarkaz thousands of years ago when the Lord of Fiends of that time, Qui'lon, the original wielder of Amiya's Wrathful Cerulean Flame, led his followers east to escape the discrimination and prejudice against them. They were welcomed at first but were eventually betrayed and slaughtered, which led to Qui'lon wiping out their enemies before taking his own life.
But the thing is, it did eventually work out for the Sarkaz who left with him. Those who stayed in what's now Yan became the Anasa while those who went to what's now Higashi became the Oni. Both races became fully integrated with the local culture and are even responsible for the creation and spread of Terra's version of Buddhism.
It's kind of funny that the "If it sucks, hit the bricks" mentality actually ended up working out really well for them. They just. Left. Something that stands out is that the Anasa and Oni aren't condemned as traitors like the Sankta, though perhaps it's because they never placed themselves in opposition to their kin. Another interesting thing is that they don't seem to have any connection to the Myriad Souls. The Sankta has their connection overwritten by the Law that turned them into Sankta in the first place, but nothing like that happened to the other Sarkaz offshoots. Maybe related, maybe not, but there are Anasa who gain halos, though they're not the same as Sankta ones.
And of course, this isn't even factoring in the Durin.

A Crown fit for a God
(Part 2)
(Part 1 here)
Pairing: Azriel x Fem Reader
Summary: An enemy threatens Velaris leaving Azriel to choose between his found family and a long lost friend. Can he juggle the two or will he fall for the enemy?
Ch Summary: After you threaten Velaris with war. Azriel is tasked to find you and bring you to the prison above the mountain. He shadows have other plans when they confront you.
word count: 2.6k
Series warnings: 18+ MDNI, angst, hurt/comfort,light smut, war, including injuries, fighting, sign language, no use of y/n, nicknames, magic, greek mythology, pining, jealousy, azriel with other women (sorry), reader with another man (get it friend ; )
A/n: I hope this Ch sheds a little light as to what reader is and about her powers. I'm a daydreamer not a writer so if you see any mistakes that's how I dreamt it. Lol
In the beginning there was Khaos. The first God in existence to precede creation. Khaos filled the space between, invoking darkness and shadow. Unable to witness her work, her intense desire to see flickered before her. Discovering her own spark, she flew towards it, the force of her wings igniting, leaving a trail of stardust; giving birth to the vast universe. From her own will khaos had created the primordial deities that would reign over the elements of the universe. And thus terra, sky, darkness, light, night and day were created.
From the very desires of the first primordial gods, Demi Gods emerged, living among mortals and immortals. Soon enough these half gods no longer wanted the responsibility of mortals. Thanatos and his sisters, the Gods of Death grew tired of being witness to so much violence and bloodshed. Leaving their duties caused a riot. No other God would carry the burden of their responsibilities on top of their own. Those loyal to the Divine fought in the war of Gods, neither side backing down regardless of how much blood had been spilled. Khaos wept as she witnessed her slain children. Fighting against her kin, tears streamed down her face as she slaughtered her very own. Devastated, she fell to her knees in defeat, between her sobs she whispered in the ancient tongue, “I bind myself to the darkness of death, overpowering my light within so long as my spark prevails through the moonless journey.” All fighting ceased as every God witnessed khaos, bringer of life, descend to the lands in the form of a falling star. The fates of two entwined.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The house of wind was anxious, each door closed with a slam, rattling the photos that hung along the walls. The foundation, made from the mountain rock, shook and with it pieces of rubble and dust would float to the floors. Often the roaring would come back, leaving its inhabitants wide eyed and on edge.
every member of the inner circle sat in Rhys office. The air thick with tension as Azriel explained his actions, why he blocked Cassian from hurting you, why he needed to be the one to search for you. Many questions left unanswered. How did you find Velaris? And what kind of ancient magic would allow you to pass through his wards so easily?
“Rhys, I know her! We were childhood friends!” Azriel pleads, “let me find her.”
Elain’s eyes darted to Azriel, questioning his reason for his blatant lies. She knew he saw you once and never again. Yet she remained silent, a question for another day.
Rhys sighed, leaning back in his chair. All eyes were on him as he stared at the map of Prythian that lay across his desk. He took a sip of his whiskey, considering his next move. One by one he informed them of their duties, sending every member away as soon as they received their mission.
Cassian was sent to Windhaven to ready the warriors and ensure their weapons were up to par for battle. Amren and Nesta were to stay in Velaris to survey and defend the city in case you returned. Mor was to revisit the courts that had scorched farmlands and buildings, to see if there were any more details that they overlooked. Elain wished to stay in Velaris and investigate the reason the house was slowly deteriorating. Rhys agreed. Finally he ordered Feyre to accompany Azriel in his search for you.
Azriel ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, “No Rhys it has to be me alone. You can trust me.”
“After what I saw today, I’m not so sure where your mind is. I trust that you ‘ll do the right thing, but I don't agree with your current judgment so I’m sending Feyre with you.”
Azriels shoulders slumped as he nodded in defeat. Feyre placed a gentle hand on his back, attempting to soothe his disappointment.
~~~~~~~~~~
Feyre walked Azriel back to his room but before he entered she grabbed his arm moving him to face her. “ I have a friend I need to visit and he doesn't like when others tag along,” she whispered, hoping no one else would hear her. Azriel narrowed his eyes. “ So I hope you understand that I won't be joining you on your mission,” she winked, releasing her hold on him. Azriel just smirked, mouthing her a ‘thank you.’
Back in his room, Azriel cleared his desk of all the healer books he had meticulously studied. All these years he’d been searching for a healer when in fact you were a God, at least according to Amren. He spent hours searching Death Gods and tracing back their lineage and none had the powers you possessed, the power in which made him search for you. The power to heal. “You've been at it for hours, come to bed honey,” Elains sweet voice brought him out of his thoughts. “None of this makes sense,” he said mostly to himself as he shook his head, ignoring Elains request.
She stood behind him, gently kneading his tense shoulders with her slim fingers. His back tensed at her touch, purely focused on his work. Determined to get him to bed, Elain rested her chin on his shoulder, angling her head towards his ear as she whispered seductively her desires. His eyes fluttered closed in frustration, as she placed wet kisses to the curve of his neck, humming at the taste of him. “Not tonight.” Coldly he shrugged her off, hating the pain she held in her eyes. Without a word Elain stepped away, leaving Azriel to drown in his work, drown in his thoughts of you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“And then I pushed through, you should have seen their faces,” you chuckled, recounting the events from Velaris to your dearest friend. “No matter the job you always try to make it fun.” He replied, petting the hen that sat in his lap; a gift you had brought him for the delicious tea leaves he had acquired.
You smile, enjoying his company that you often missed. Out of the corner of your eye, a wisp of shadow scurries into the darkness of the night, earning your full undivided attention. Nothing but silence is heard. “What was that?” you ask, turning back to the Suriel. “An invisible thread that weaves and winds, binding hearts two of a kind.” you gape at him, blinking your eyes rapidly, “I don't even want to know.” A chuckle rattles in his throat, “go before he finds you.” Without another word shimmer and darkness envelope you, winnowing you far from the Night Court.
Azriels shadows darted through the low grounds of the woods, swerving through a dense thicket of birch trees and rock formations, scouring each bush and body of water in search of you. Once they spotted you, they quickly returned to their master, curling around his ear ,whispering ‘Suriel.’
Just as you winnowed away a blade launched itself toward the Suriel; flying through the air from a shroud of darkness, pinning his cloak to a tree. “Where is she?” he asks, tone impatient and demanding.
“Here, there, everywhere.”
Azriel pinches the space between his brows in annoyance. Shaking his head he asks another question, hoping for a straight answer.
“How do I find her?”
“Evoke emotions without a single touch, no wings yet able to fly. To catch this God let her hear the cords of the night.”
“I don’t…..these riddles. I don't understand.” Azriel paced in front of the Suriel, wracking his brain for any clues.
“The touch of a memory will carry her to you.”
“Stop with the riddles!” Azriel fumed, teeth clenched tight as he stared the Suriel down.
“Are you not a shadowsinger?” he replied, pulling out the blade that held his cloak to the tree. “I've answered your questions, whether you can decipher the meaning is no business of mine.” Finished with Azriels questioning, the Suriel made his way through the woods, hen in hand for a fresh slaughter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had taken Azriel a few days to figure out the riddle. Repeating the words over and over, analyzing each term and its meaning. The line ‘hear the cords of the night’ was what led him to realize it was a song, but what song was what stumped him. He felt like a fool singing his favorite songs in the middle of the forest, belting it out with his whole chest.
He sang songs that made him teary eyed and even sang songs in the ancient tongue, but none of those had lured you to him. The Suriel mentioned ‘the touch of a memory,’ “oh Gods, I’m an idiot,” he said to himself. He only had one encounter with you, so it was easy to remember the events of that night, all these years he could never forget. He would never forget the song, the song he thinks is about you. His mother sang this song to him as a child and he wonders if she knew the dark power you possessed, was she singing to a God in hopes to answer her prayers, to lift her from the chains that held her down.
The house of wind kindly provided warm tea and honey. It's eagerness to assist him piqued his curiosity. He would ask Elain about her findings another day. Soothing his vocal cords, a plan was formed to capture you and send you to the prison on top of the mountain.
You're the chaos of the night,
A little girl lost in the woods
You're a folktale, the unexplainable
You're a bedtime story
The one that keeps the curtains closed
And I hope you're waiting for me
'Cause I can't make it on my own
I can't make it on my own.
Azriel sang the words from his childhood, voice harmonious with a smooth baritone that held the memories from the past. He sang from the depths of his heart in hopes that the meaning behind his words would grace your ears and become a light in the dark. Guiding you towards his waiting arms.
Weathered leaves crunch under the weight of your relaxed body, grass floor cold and damp from the night. But the view of the stars in the Night Court were your favorite, they called to you as if saying 'stay.' Stars glitter like rare diamonds, and the crescent moon smiled brighter than the sun. The evening scent of mist and night felt familiar in the way that reminded you of home. It had been so long since you’ve been home, the thought of never returning grew closer and closer.
The midnight breeze caresses your skin, its gentle touch has your eyes closing, focusing on the chirping of crickets and running water. A mellow voice sings the harmonious music of the night, its soft whisper tickles your ear like a past lover, luring you to follow the rich sound.
I hope you're waiting for me
Across your carpet of stars
You're the chaos of the night,
You're everything that we can't see
Chaos, you're the possibility.
Azriel ceases to sing once he spots you round a thick tree, his shadows excitedly rush towards you and Azriel curses under his breath at their eagerness. He observes as they affectionately coil around your neck, fluffing about in your hair before they trail down your arms. You giggle at their curiosity as they loop around your fingers, “you wanna play?” you ask, as you slowly move your fingers in awe at their closeness. They playfully bounce from one hand to the other, and you take that as a yes. Azriel is dumbfounded as he admires his shadows from afar. He has his arms crossed over his chest as he leans against a tree, his gaze slowly trails up the delicious curves of your body and he imagines what it would be like to lay with a God. He sees you smile and nod at whatever they’ve whispered in your ear and he fears you both are up to no good. As the shadows dance in a circle just a few feet in front of you, they rapidly circle around and around creating a whirlwind of darkness. Cautiously you near the edge of their tornado and zap one of the shadows, creating an orb of light within the vortex. You're mesmerized by the display in front of you. Your power bounces off the shadowed wisps like an elegant dance, the wisps gently stroke the flame of your power, careful to not get scorched.
With the blink of your eye the orb bursts, spraying the ground and trees with thousands of specs of glittering starlight. Azriel feels a jolt of electricity zip up his body, shaking him so hard he loses balance off the tree, quickly righting himself before you notice. His effort is too late, you've already spotted him.
“You're not a stalker are you?” you ask, voice playful and curious as you near him.
If you only knew, Azriel thinks with a smirk.
“No, but I can be. Nice party trick by the way.” Azriel pushes off the tree to meet you. The first thing you notice is his eyes, hazel and dreamy framed by long thick lashes. His nose is straight and a little too perfect for a warrior, you wonder if he’s ever been punched in the face before, or maybe he's just that good at fighting. His high cheekbones and strong jaw remind you of the many demi gods that have been sculpted throughout the years. You eye him up and down, taking in his stature and broad shoulders. He’s a little too handsome and in your experience these types of males are conceited snobs who only enjoy their own reflection and company. Meanwhile Azriel does the same, completely entranced by the sway of your hips and how your hair flows over the swell of your breasts.
“They seemed friendly.” you respond, tipping your head to the shadows that have swirled around the both of you, appearing to close the distance between you.
Azriel shakes his head, “I meant in Velaris. You threaten my home, my friends and my High Lord and expect to get away with it? How did you get past the wards? And how did you find Velaris?”
Before you could respond the ground shakes as a blast erupts creating a cloud of dust and forest debris. Instinctually Azriel pulls your body flush to his, shielding you from injury. Dark membranous wings curl around your body, cocooning you safely in his arms. Your hands find the planes of his toned chest as you peer up at him through your full lashes. You know what the blast was but the feeling of his body pressed against yours had your knees weak, and you couldn't break away.
Azriels heart is ramming against his chest at the proximity, his gaze is locked on your brilliant eyes as he dares to cup the side of your cheek. Angling your face to meet his, your exposed collarbone catches his attention when a bargain tattoo vanishes before his eyes; breaking the trance you had him in.
“What did you bargain?” he urges, hands now tightly gripping your upper arms.
“Your worst nightmare.”
Azriel staggered back, paling in horror as he registered your words.
Only one creature carried that name.
Bryaxis.

Stay A While Love
After an age together, Moon and Earth long for a while to meet physically. With their differences, this is a difficult task. Thankfully, Unicron himself has a solution.
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Moon? Can you hear me?” Her voice echoed in song and thought, reaching up toward the stars as she called out to her guardian. For over an age, they had been as one, bound in purpose and adoration for each other. Her dear Moon had been by her side when Unicron stirred to destroy her firstborn children when they had shown themselves too large and foolish to be of use. Moon had comforted her after the loss and soothed her aching wounds by basking her in his field. He knew what burns felt like, and often he sang her songs of better times as she healed and new children began to grow upon her surface.
Her lovely Moon. Oh, how she adored him. Where once he was a threat, he now stood as her equal in all things. Her father rarely stirred, but Moon was there, even if his ancient injuries left him in a state of drowsiness that required Earth to prompt him to wake when she wanted his attention.
“My dear, are you alright?” Moon replied to her in echoed tones, a sign of exhaustion that had been more and more prevalent in recent days. He had been so tired and reclusive after discovering that he could not contact any of his kin. Earth had spent many long cycles soothing him as he did for her while he quietly lamented the loss of whatever family he might have had left.
She wanted to ease his pain, but she knew words and field were not enough to help fill the void of death that her Moon endured. He needed connection and purpose aside from watching. Not only that, but Earth needed someone to lean on. As selfish as it was, she needed her Moon.
“Yes, of course! I simply wished to speak with you!” She merrily answered back and all of her children felt her joy. Birds sang with greater exuberance, hunters found themselves invigorated, and the leaves of her trees rustled as they sensed their mother’s glee.
“I am always here, Terra. Even when I am recharging, you need only call out for me and I will find the strength to stir.” Moon sounded exhausted, even though his glyphs were laced with fondness. Earth could not yet read subglyphs well, but she knew that he was aching. She knew he needed her just as much as she needed him.
“I know that, but I would like to speak with you in person if that’s even possible.” It had been a wistful wish of hers that had prevailed since the day her firstborn perished in fire and brimstone. Her Moon had only been able to touch her surface once, and that was long before any of her children had left their primordial pools. Now it was not an option, at least not as it had been so long ago. He would harm her and her children if he tried to touch her now. Even still, she wanted to hope that the technology of Primus’s children might have a solution.
“I could transform and approach if you permitted it, but my dearest Evergreen, I would damage you if I landed upon your surface. You are far smaller than Cybertron, and even a soft touch could cause you pain.” Her Moon spoke softly, as one would a newborn. Earth sulked as he logically pointed out the issues with her desire. His field flared in similar longing, alerting Earth to the fact that she was not alone in her wish to be closer.
“I can handle a bit of pain if I can feel you again.” She weighed the cost of Moon transforming to touch her surface again. He was not wrong in his statement. Many of her creatures would perish and it was more than likely that she would be in great pain if he did so. Every plant was part of her system. Such damage would be agonizing even if she felt that, in her spark, she could endure it for a time.
“Not to mention, leaving my current position would jeopardize the new tides that you are so proud of.” Moon’s statement was the final straw that collapsed Earth’s wishful dream. Her dearest Moon had become integral to her children’s way of life. If he moved, the tides would become catastrophic and set back her children’s development by millennia.
It could not be allowed.
But Moon was not the only one who held wisdom.
“Father?”
She reached out through an old path, pulling on roots and bonds so intertwined with her being that they were all but unbreakable. It took a while, but as her calls echoed in the places between stars that made up the soul and spark alike, Unicron stirred in his slumber.
“Parasite.”
He regarded her coldly, but she was long used to it and hurried to offer her question before her maker decided that he was done.
“I wish to have a way to commune with Moon, but he cannot approach and I cannot break away from you. Is there a way we can meet, if only for a time?”
Unicron grumbled and parts of Earth’s surface shook in response to his stirring. She cringed at the damage but accepted the quakes as the consequence of her attempt to glean information from someone far wiser than herself.
“Does the Titan have functioning communication systems?”
She vented a sigh of relief when she translated his question from the mess of emotions and ancient glyphs he uttered. Normally, he would order her to leave him alone, a fact for which she could never begrudge him. Her father had many internal struggles to endure.
“I don’t think so. He said he tried to reach out to others of his kind but to no avail. His communications array was burned along with the rest of him.”
She was solemn as she offered her reply. Her sweet Moon was scorched in mind, body, and spark. The fires had taken so very much from him. Even now he still shook in terror when great fires rose on her surface. He could hardly see the flames with how damaged his optics were, but it was as though he developed a sixth sense when it came to heat. He could always sense it, and he much preferred the cold.
Sometimes she worried he would freeze before having to remember that he was of Primus, not of her.
“Then you are without a solution unless you would like me to suggest a way to finish up the job the fire started.”
Earth gasped in horror at the mere suggestion and shot back a sharp reprimand before she fell to pleading, hoping her father would have a degree of mercy for her plight.
“Father, please, there MUST be a way. My Moon is right there, and yet I can never touch him! I have not felt him since he took on his spherical form! I… I miss him.”
The admission hung heavy on her spark as she confessed her affections. Unicron made a disgruntled sound and fell silent for a time while Earth reeled. Hers and Moon’s relationship was a strange and undefined thing, but she could safely declare that she loved him. For that reason, she felt she had to at least make an effort to try and get her father’s aid and patiently wait for either his acceptance or order to leave him alone.
Her spark flared in anxiety and she could feel Moon’s concerned field touch her as she waited.
“You do understand that he is a child of Primus, correct?”
Her maker questioned her, but his tone held only a hint of sharpness. Earth vented deeply to settle herself as she answered.
“I know.”
Tension ran thick through their connection, leaving Earth unsteady and fearful even as she tried to keep herself calm.
“Then you are aware of what you ask of me.”
She vented deeply and steeled herself.
“Yes.”
Silence reigned again, and she could feel her maker thinking. That was either a very good or very bad sign. There was no way to tell.
“Why should I help you? Why should I give a threat greater leverage?”
Her nerves began to fade as she felt Moon reaching out to her in growing concern. She had to do this for both of them. If there was a way, she had to find it.
“Because I love him and he loves me. So long as I live, he won’t hurt you.”
She spoke with conviction. She fully believed that her Moon would never dare to harm her maker while she still guarded him. Despite how much her Moon despised her father, he was kind enough to make concessions and agree to Earth’s quiet pleas that he remain amicable. After an age together, she was of the firm belief that he would keep his promise. It was one of the many reasons she loved him.
“How can you be so sure?”
Her father sounded genuinely curious. That startled Earth, but she internally puffed up with pride as she sang the praises of her beloved Moon, the one who had given everything he had left for her.
“He gave up his ability to fly and any chance to find the few survivors of Cybertron in order to stay by my side. He has already offered me much. He will not betray us.”
Yes, her Moon was no longer able to leave, even if he wanted to. Well, perhaps he could if given enough time. From what she gathered, Titans could change between their forms if they had ample time to prepare. Moon could leave, but she knew he wouldn’t. He had made his decision to remain with her, and that was shown in his every action and word.
“He will not betray YOU.”
With no warning, her father’s tone turned bitter and angry. Earth got the distinct impression that he was likely remembering Primus, his brother, who should have remained by his side until the end of time.
She sighed and began to pull away from her connection to the unmaker. If he was lost in memory, she would have no chance to hear from him. He was always sullen after such things-
“There may be a way.”
Her father’s voice was but a whisper as he pulled her back, garnering her attention once more. Pure joy burst in her very core like a star as she all but threw herself into a response.
“Really?”
Her father groaned, but Earth was far too thrilled to care as he began to put forward his suggestion.
“The Titan may not have many systems anymore, but he likely still possesses drones. And you, while taking on the form of a Titan, are still of me. You can make an avatar.”
Earth listened in stunned silence. She had never truly considered taking on a form of her own outside of her main frame. There had never been a need… but if she could meet her dear Moon again, she was more than willing to make the effort.
“Thank you, father! I will not forget this kindness, not so long as I live!”
Praise and joy filtered through their connection without any dilution. She could feel her father’s shock but she was far too invested in her dreams to care much about it. Soon she would meet her dearest Moon.
“Pray that you don’t. I do nothing without purpose.”
Her father grumbled and made no further comment as she pulled away and felt Moon’s concerns wash over her in waves. He was almost frantic and his emotions told her he was again considering homicide if her father had been the cause of her distress.
He was partially to blame, but she had no intention of telling Moon that.
“Earth, what happened?” He prodded at her, searching her frame with his sensors to make up for his lack of sight in the hopes that he might find whatever damage had caused her distress. Earth quickly returned his attention to her as she basked him in her excitement.
“I’ve found a way for us to meet!” That gave him pause, and soon enough, she was discussing their plans for meeting. Their conversation may have spanned whole cycles, she couldn’t be sure. Not when she saw her Moon all but shake in excitement she had never before seen.
Finally, they would meet.
Cycles of preparations were made. Moon busied himself getting one of his drones ready for launch. He did not tell her much, but she trusted him to do what he needed without issue. Earth for her part selected an open area on her surface and carved a frame of wood and earth to inhabit her conscience. It mimicked her form as much as possible, and when it was complete, her new frame was a perfect thing of polished wood and free-flowing leaves.
Settling into it was a strange feeling, but she settled quickly as her children greeted her with various noises of respect as she walked through their glades. She touched her trees lovingly and felt their adoration as she passed. Various creatures with more boldness hesitantly reached out for her attention. She gave it willingly and decided then and there that walking among her children was one of the best choices she had ever made.
She would need to wander more often, but for now, she had a mission.
“Come to me, my Moon. I’m waiting.” Standing beneath the open sky and watching her Moon over her, Earth smiled widely. For the first time, she heard her voice call out in the tongue of her beloved Moon. It was a precious memory she intended to cherish, but it was nothing compared to the sight of her Moon waking right before her.
His frame glittered and glowed and plating shifted and dust long left to settle was forcefully made to move. Stars glimmered as if in greeting as a bright blue beacon emerged from a hidden compartment on her Moon’s frame. It looked like a newborn star or a passing comet as it shot toward the ground. To Earth, it seemed a great deal like Primus was again descending in all his glory in the elder days before the fall.
Her arms were held open as her Moon’s drone at last descended. It was a small thing compared to her towering avatar, but its simple boxy frame and singular optic reminded her enough of her beloved that she was able to embrace the drone with joy. Finally, she had Moon in her arms.
“I missed you, Moon.” She pressed a kiss to the drone’s surface, and she could feel the way her Moon shook with joy above her. Within moments, the drone’s communicator gurgled to life, and for the first time since her Moon took on his new shape, she heard his voice loud and clear.
“There is no greater joy than to be here with you, even if only through a proxy.” The drone hummed in her arms, and Earth laughed as she pressed more kisses to its frame.
“Stay a while, love. The night is young, and I would like to enjoy this while it lasts.” Her Moon made an embarrassed noise but obliged. Earth held his drone lovingly as she turned to walk her world.
At last, they were together, if only in part.
