Ignorance destroys another big cat. Lilleth, the 21 month old Eurasian Lynx shot dead by the council in Wales was failed by everyone. She should never have been born in captivity. Her enclosure should’ve been secured. A zoo of that type with run down variable living conditions should not have been allowed to be sold to the new owner in such a state of disrepair. The animals should have instead been sent to sanctuaries in Europe. The council went way over the top in killing her simply for being near a caravan park (mobile home park). The entire occurrence is a tragedy and reminder of why small roadside and poorly secured zoos need to fade into antiquity replaced by sanctuaries and preserves. Borth Wild Animal Kingdom needs to surrender their big cats to sanctuaries NOW. TERA has been contacted by a few people claiming that the photo of Soudy Golabchi on the viral @care2 petition was possibly photoshopped. It isn't. He's published the horrific photos himself in his own book printed by Safari Press (no affiliation with @safariclubintl )based in Long Beach, California USA. The book from 2007 is entitled "Obesssed!(sic)" and is going to be examined at length in a future post. Excellent news! LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. - An African elephant at the center of animal cruelty charges will now remain in a Tennessee sanctuary, following the ruling of Lawrence County District Judge Angela Terry. Monday, Judge Terry gave custody of Nosey the elephant to Lawrence County, and animal control officer Kimberly Carpenter says Nosey will remain at the Hohenwald sanctuary. Carpenter tells WHNT News 19 that the county does not have the means or facilities to care for Nosey. Lawrence County Assistant District Attorney Callie Waldrep will be in touch with the Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary and they will draw up custody forms for the county to sign Nosey over to the sanctuary. Nosey made headlines in November after she was taken to the sanctuary and out of the care of the Great American Family Circus from Orlando following concerns of mistreatment. Still no word on the what @realdonaldtrump and @secretary_ryanzinke have decided to do on the elephant trophy hunting ban from Zimbabwe and Nambia. The ban HAS been lifted on lion trophy exports in the aforementioned nations and exports of BOTH elephants and lions continue unabated out of both Tanzania and South Africa. Sanctuaries have very strict regulations and operating codes in the interest of both public, employee and animal safety. Operating hours are very limited so the animals are not stressed with constant noise a human interaction.
