White Rhino Strain Grow InfoWhite Rhino is a strain that is easy to cultivate indoors and outdoors. Regular pruning and trimming of the plant's leaves and branches are necessary. It is important to maintain consistent temperatures during the day and at night, with the daytime temperature in the range of 68-80 degrees Fahrenheit. White Rhino prefers a humid climate but not too much rainfall. For indoor growers, a hydroponic setup tends to help achieve the best yields. If you have limited space, consider a Sea of Green (SOG) setup. Light intensity is a significant factor that has a bearing on the overall yield of White Rhino. You can use LED lights, fluorescent lights, Metal Halide (MH), or High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lights, keeping them at the appropriate distance from the plants. Ensure a decent cooling or exhaust system.White Rhino is a heavy feeder, and during the vegetative stage, focuses on providing plenty of nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus. If you're using a hydroponics setup, pay attention to the Electrical Conductivity (EC) reading. Harvest the crop at the right moment, and you can use either the pistil method or the trichome method. In the pistil method, wait for at least half of the pistils on your plants to change color from white to reddish-brown. In the trichome method, use a magnifying glass and harvest when the trichomes turn milky-white. Some believe that you should harvest when 25% of the trichomes turn white, while others say to wait until 70% have changed color.

#Repost @worldanimalnews_ —— Earlier this week, tragic news was released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (@MyFWC) that a three-year-old #whiterhino was shot and killed last September after escaping his enclosure at #WildFlorida. 💔🦏 The drive-through safari park located 60 miles south of #Orlando, in #Kenansville, verified that staff members killed the 2,000-pound #rhino because he was a “public safety risk.” Animal advocates, including the anonymous informant who advised authorities about the tragic situation remain outraged due to the fact that the rhino could have been safely subdued without using lethal force. This type of animal cruelty will only end when people stop subsidizing facilities that hold wild animals in captivity for so-called "entertainment." There are plenty of ways to educate people about animals and conservation without putting animals’ lives at risk. 😥 #KeepThemWild 🙏🦏 READ MORE: 🌍👉 WorldAnimalNews.com (LINK IN OUR BIO) ⬇️👆@worldanimalnews_ @peace_4animals #WorldAnimalNews (at Florida Fish and Wildlife) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoLB9bXKFeX/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Barrick CEO's Initiative Restores White Rhinos to Garamba National Park in DR Congo
Tumblr media
GARAMBA NATIONAL PARK, Democratic Republic of Congo, June 10, 2023.
After 13 years of dedicated efforts, an initiative led by Barrick's president and chief executive, Mark Bristow, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful reintroduction of 16 white rhinos to Garamba National Park.
Conservation Success: Reintroduction of White Rhinos to Garamba National Park
These majestic creatures, last seen in the park in 2006, have been carefully brought back to their natural habitat, marking a remarkable conservation success story. The rhinos were transported by aircraft from South Africa and have now been released into the park's protected areas, where a team of professionals, including qualified veterinarians, will closely monitor their acclimatization process. Barrick Gold Corporation, a leading mining company, played a crucial role as the primary donor in the translocation project. This endeavor is part of Barrick's long-standing partnership with African Parks and Garamba National Park, which holds the distinction of being Africa's oldest wildlife park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the years, Barrick has contributed more than $2.5 million to support various conservation efforts, including tracking collars, fuel for observation planes, rescue programs, rehabilitation initiatives, and essential infrastructure improvements such as roads and bridges.
Barrick Gold Corporation's Role in the Translocation Project
Collaboratively, the Congolese government, the Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN), and African Parks facilitated the successful translocation of white rhinos from the & Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. Garamba National Park holds historical significance as one of the last strongholds for the now-extinct in the wild northern white rhino.
Expanding Rhino Range and Promoting Long-Term Conservation
The reintroduction of the near-threatened southern sub-species not only expands the range of rhinos in Africa, promoting their long-term conservation, but also establishes a new breeding population within a secure environment. Since African Parks assumed management of Garamba in 2005, there has been a remarkable decline in poaching activities, leading to positive population increases among various wildlife species within the park. This success can be attributed to the implementation of alternative socio-economic initiatives in and around the park. Furthermore, rhinos have played a vital role in maintaining the ecosystem's balance by creating grazing lawns that support other fauna and flora, providing essential ecosystem services.
Achievements and Positive Impacts: Decline in Poaching and Ecosystem Recovery
Mark Bristow, Barrick's CEO, emphasizes the company's commitment to sustainability and biodiversity conservation. He recognizes the significance of preserving biodiversity as a fundamental aspect of planetary survival, crucial for addressing climate change, and vital in the fight against poverty. Barrick's approach extends beyond protecting biodiversity within their mining permits, as they actively collaborate with NGOs and organizations like African Parks and Garamba to safeguard and restore critical biodiversity in precious locations worldwide. Barrick's successful group-wide biodiversity strategy places great importance on safeguarding areas of high conservation value. Understanding the symbiotic relationship between the natural environment and the local communities that depend on it is paramount.
Commitment to Sustainability: Barrick's Approach and Collaborative Efforts
Garamba National Park serves as a significant employer in the region, providing livelihoods to over 500 full-time staff and numerous contract employees, including law enforcement teams and dedicated community personnel. The park also supports more than 9,000 community members through entrepreneurial endeavors such as beekeeping, fish and poultry farming, and operates four hospitals with a capacity to treat 12,000 patients. The successful reintroduction of white rhinos to Garamba National Park is a testament to the power of collaborative conservation efforts and showcases the positive impact that sustainable practices can have on both wildlife and local communities.   Source: THX News & Barrick Gold Corporation. Sound on 🔈
Poaching for their horns was the cause of the extinction of the northern white rhinoceros in the wild, but another major factor was the armed conflict that brought conservation efforts to a halt. War destroys the habitat and lives of wild animals, and it also brings to naught the conservation efforts that had been well underway until then.
