Ignorance destroys another big cat. Lilleth, the 21 month old Eurasian Lynx shot dead by the council in Wales was failed by everyone. She should never have been born in captivity. Her enclosure should’ve been secured. A zoo of that type with run down variable living conditions should not have been allowed to be sold to the new owner in such a state of disrepair. The animals should have instead been sent to sanctuaries in Europe. The council went way over the top in killing her simply for being near a caravan park (mobile home park). The entire occurrence is a tragedy and reminder of why small roadside and poorly secured zoos need to fade into antiquity replaced by sanctuaries and preserves. Borth Wild Animal Kingdom needs to surrender their big cats to sanctuaries NOW. I was also present at the meeting in Carmarthen in 2006. I listened to a catalogue of the wrongs suffered by victims of injustice – none of whom have seen either closure of their cases, or the reparation of injustices suffered at the hands of officialdom.
