Astarion: easily. The way I have him built is as a ranged fighter. The moment Rova gets into melee with his truly ungodly amount of movement (base 9m+4.5m from unarmored defense+3m from mobile+3m from the momentum helmet for a total of 20.5m) Astarion is getting stunned so fast bro has no con save. From there just flurry of blows and more stunning strike, and if Astarion tries to run away he has Sentinel

Karlach: Imma go with probably not on this one. She's got so many hit points and he does Not. She's also got a pretty beefy con save so stunning probably isn't gonna work very well on her. If Rova can duck and stay out of prolonged melee (not a good place for him), he might survive, but I don't think he'd win

Lae'zel: maybe. He'd probably be able to make a good run of running in, throwing stunning strikes, then running away with mobile not provoking aoo. If he gets properly caught by her he's probably boned with that d8 hit die, but he does have some four elements stuff for that to maybe not happen.

Gale: absolutely. Gale only has a decent con save when it's concentration checks, he's getting stunned and punched to death so fast, if he's lucky he'll get a spell off before it happens. Even if he can teleport away, Rova can fly with monk bullshit to that won't work for very long. Maybe Gale can survive with greater invisibility and sniping Rova

Shadowheart: again probably pretty well. Her con isn't that great, she's getting stunned and punched. Most of her spells and stuff are either attack rolls against Rova's fairly high AC, or dex and wisdom saves that Rova is pretty good at.

Wyll: once again with the mid con saves. He's getting stunned and punched. Wyll is a ranged guy, and there is no way he is outrunning Rova for very long. And once again, teleporting probably won't work since Rova can fly

The french dub of Sonic Underground (1999) was better than the english one and here's why.

Here's a rant that no one asked for (and that probably no one will read in its entirety or at all), but I still wanted to write about it. I used to date a guy who said that the english dub of Sonic Underground was better than the french one and that is just inacceptable.

If you don't know what it is, Sonic Underground is an animated series made by both France and the United States in 1999 and was first aired in France in January, then the USA in August. It follows the adventures of Sonic and his siblings, Sonia and Manic, while they are trying to find their mother and also defeat the evil Robotnik who rules over their city. Each episodes features it's own original song. Even though this series wasn't really appreciated by Sonic fans, I personally loved it as a kid as it was one of the few series you could find for free on YouTube that was fully available in French back then (sadly, it doesn't seem to be anymore).

Now here are my arguments:

1. The jokes were funnier in French

Now, for anyone who speaks French as a first language, you know that's rarely the case. But for Sonic Underground, it just is. One exemple in particular just stuck with me, in episode 02:

There's this one moment where Sonic, Manic and Sonia find a cloak that look's like it could be their mother's. Then Sonic says that there was something wrong with it. It's then that Louvois (Sleet in English) shows up and, in the French dub, basically says like the absolute troll that he is : ''maybe it's because the label is in English''. Then the screen shows how, on the label it's written in English how the cloak is actually owned by Sleet. I just found little jokes like that so freaking funny, it's unbelievable. In the english dub, Sleet just boringly says that there's something wrong with the tag. Boring.

2. The songs sound better

This is entirely my own personal opinion, but I think that the songs in Sonic Underground sounded better in French. I just think that the songs rhymed better in French. A first exemple could be the intro song that, while similar, still sounded quite different. I liked the French version better, but I might just be biased on this one. It just sounds so dramatic, I love it.

Then there's my favorite song from this show. I really think that the French version of this song was done better than in English and that's something so freaking rare in dubs. From the same episode mentionned earlier, the song in French was called Fréquence copains, while, in English, it's Have you got the 4.1.1? To be honest, I have no clue what the 4.1.1 is. Still, I think it sounds better in French.

Something else that I discovered while searching videos to back up my claim for this rant is one song that, in French, is called Comme au temps des acadiens, while in English it's Let the good times roll. If you don't know who the Acadians are, they were Fench speaking people living In what was called Acadia, who later on mostly became Nova Scotia. After Britain won some territory over France, they took over Acadia and basically decided they didn't want the people already living there to stay there anymore. But it's not like Acadians could just go to France, by that time, the acadians people had been living there for quite a few generations and didn't really thought themselves as French people. They had their own identity. So Britain decided to clear out their houses so English people could live there and deported them towards the 13 colonies while also separating families so that they wouldn't keep their language or something (i'm going off from my high school history classes and museums on acadians in Nova Scotia, guys, this is what I basically remember). Many tried to go back to their homes in Acadia, but many were unsuccesful. In any case, here's the song:

3. The terrible choices for the voice actors (BASICALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT I HAVE)

Here is my last point and also my most important one. I fully believe that the English dub of Sonic Underground wouldn't have been as terrible if it wasn't for that one decision. In the 90s, the established voice for Sonic in animated series was Jaleel White. He already voiced Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), so for continuity's sake, it wasn't a bad choice to recast him in Sonic Underground. The problem came when it was decided that he would also voice Sonia and Manic. I guess for Manic, it's not too bad. The problem really came with Sonia. His voice as Sonia is what made the show unbearable for me to watch in English. I found it even worse when he had to sing with the high pitch weird voice of Sonia. It was just terrible. I wonder who thought THAT would be a good idea? Luckily, they didn't do that in the French dub. They actually casted three different people for the siblings. Sonic was voiced by Olivier Korol, Manic (and also Knuckles) was voiced by Philippe Bozo and Sonia was voiced by Patricia Legrand. And thank god for Patricia Legrand. I think her voice suited perfectly Sonia. Not only did she have a really nice singing voice, but her voice also suited perfectly her character who was a noble lady. Patricia Legrand made her character sound like she actually came from a higher class, which I think was really nice.

Here are six a lot of sentences I cut from Basil Pitch's Diary, which for now is just one baby chapter but the rest of which is coming soon eventually to a browser near you.

This bit's inspired by the fact that there was a Parliament election in 2015. I cut it because it felt kind of clumsy--sticking jokes in the character's mouths that weren't necessarily in-character--and also had the small issue of being completely, utterly irrelevant to the plot. (At least that makes it spoiler-free 😅.)

FRIDAY 6 MARCH Blood units 4, body temp 25, hair ducal, civic engagement meh, political parties at least 3. 11 a.m. Politickal Science. Professor Kates had us debate tomorrow’s Normal Parliament election, presumably because he didn’t plan a real lesson. Had never paid much attention to Normal politics before reaching voting age. Unlike Bunce. “…And that’s why I’m voting Lib Dem,” she concluded after talking for eight solid minutes. “You’re sixteen,” objected Wellbelove.  “Not a problem,” said Bunce, flapping her ring hand.  From the back of the classroom, the pixie chimed in. “What about the Green Pa—” Bunce made a rude noise.  “What about you, Simon?” asked the professor. “How would you vote?”  Of course the Mage’s Heir gets a platform for his inane views. What a blow when he finds out there’s no Butter Union party. “Um,” orated Snow. “I … I dunno. Labour, probably.” Snow turned to Bunce. “Like, some of them are nutters, yeah, but they’d fund stuff. Like,” he reddened, “schools and, like, social programs.” “Those are already funded,” said Bunce. “Not enough.”  “You expect the government to solve all your problems,” I quoted my father automatically.  Snow gave me one of my own You’re an idiot looks. “I really don’t.”  Shit. How many times had he been asked to solve the World of Mages’s problems single-handed? Bunce was still fired up. “Simon, you can’t just dismiss Labor’s xenophobic—”  I thought about what Snow meant and missed the rest of Bunce’s rant about something something intersectionality. As if she would willingly intersect with a Normal. 4 p.m. Am torn. Pitches always vote Tory, just like we’ll always vote against the Mage once we get back the franchise. (Fiona has a plan to steal it.) A liberal government would drain our coffers even drier.  But in our borough voting Tory means re-electing a man who opposed same-sex marriage two years ago. The craven claimed he wasn’t homophobic, he just had homophobic constituents. Do not see why the straight unwashed should control my freedom to marry.  Even worse is the Tory ghoul from Aldershot who stumped about “the aggressive homosexual community” using marriage as “a stepping stone.” As if I wouldn’t pay double VAT to be stepped on by an aggressive homosexual. Still. Am not simpleton single-issue voter; marriage equality is a fait accompli. And anyway, I’d only ever want to gay-marry Snow, straight and unwashed though he is.  Felt weirdly proud of him today for disagreeing with Bunce, especially when I realized the professor had singled him out not as Mage’s Heir but as spokesnormal. And that “social programs” meant his entire childhood.  Hmm. SATURDAY 7 MARCH 10 p.m. Resolved politico-moral quandary by forgetting to vote.

Look, it wasn't my idea for Baz to be a Tory. That was all Rainbow. I also do think Penny has a centrist streak inherited from Mitali but I have no idea real how this would translate into the Normal world.

Some lively conversation about Erik and anarchy in the comments of an old post about Émile Henry’s possible influence on Leroux. The connections between Leroux’s experiences covering the 1894 trials and executions of three anarchists and Erik’s rantings about the Commune in the novel are worth exploring further.

Because I write x readers and like to keep descriptions to a minimum so anyone can read it, I am instead going to be talking about what I think Bucky's style is cause I have some thoughts surrounding that.

In my fics I usually try to keep his clothing as canon as possible, so basically Henley's, leather jackets, dark jeans, combat boots, black t-shirts and a whole lot of layering. Colour wise I think he would mostly wear black, blue and occasionally red, nothing too out there or bright. Personally I think blue is his favourite colour, and he really likes wearing navy blue, especially since Steve left. I don't think he likes wearing gloves, it's more of a practical thing so it hides his hand but he doesn't necessarily enjoy it. He wears lots of thin layers, either because it makes him feel safe having all that weight on him and/or because it kinda hides his physique making him look less intimidating. I also saw someone headcanon that the serum that Steve got made his body temp run higher than normal, but the one Bucky got made his temp run lower than normal, so Bucky is just constantly freezing and needs multiple layers to keep warm. And as someone who constantly feels cold I kinda really like that idea.

Now I'm gonna go completely off canon and talk about Bucky potentially going more into the alt style. Him wearing eyeliner and getting piercings. I don't think he would get tattoos though, for some reason. But I think he would get his ears pierced, he'd get 2 on the lobe and get an industrial bar on one of his ears. And eyebrow piercings! He'd get at least one of his eyebrows pierced. And makeup! He'd learn how to do a smokey eye, Sam's sister would teach him. Jewellery wise , I don't think he'd have any rings or bracelets cause y'know he has a metal arm that he kinda doesn't want to draw attention to. Apart from his dog tags he might wear a chain? Though I think if Sam saw that he'd get embarrassed. But either way I just like imagining him going into a more darker look, even though I mentioned earlier him wanting to look less intimidating. Probably not going to happen but a girl can dream.

Anyway yeah, this was just a rant so I can at least say that I wrote something today, and so I can kinda smooth out my ideas on what he would wear for future fics and stuff.
