Alright i decided to write lore
No mercy Manwhore/NMM Telemachus speaks like: this
Blind Telemachus talks like: this
Went insane Telemachus speaks like: this
And witch Telemachus speaks like: this
"basically i decided that the suitor's frivilious comments were enough and decided to use their lust at my advantage and when they are high of pleasure, hit them hard and while limping trow them and lock them in my basement. Antinous is my favourite toy"
"Poseidon gouged my eyes. The suitors picked on me often times. Athena showed up not too long after i went blind."
"I was thinking of a hundred different torture methods while eating pomegranates when i met Lady Persephone. I had admired her, but i never expected to actually meet her. She liked my ideas and told me to share them so she can get more torture methods for the Erinyes. In return she teaches me a lot of things"
"The fight with Antinous was annoying, i havent gotten my full magic potential yet at the time. I had practiced magic before, Petty things like making something float towards me or making stuff dissapear. Lady Hecate said with her guidence I could get better and defeat all 108 suitors alone. I don't get too giddy though. I still have a long way to go"

Hey squad, I just got emotional over one of my least problematic fav classics hero, Odysseus, and how he went to war for a decade because he loved his family and how he spent the next decade searching for that family and how his family had such faith that he would crawl back to them that they waited the twenty years for him.
#was the last decade his fault??#yeah it was#but at no point do I doubt that this man loved his family with his whole heart#Odysseus and Penelope have one of the best marriages in Greek mythos#I got emotional over on Pinterest so now I decided to cry over here#Like he went to war because he couldn’t fake insanity to kill his son and then did everything he could to stay alive and get back#And Penelope knew he would come back so she redid the same tapestry every day and every night#And even his son who didn’t know him was searching for him and getting news finding Nemo style#And the dog okay the dog literally died after he got to see him one last time#like I know greek myths are problematic#But also the love compels us and binds us over thousands of miles and dozens of years narrative got to me#so yeah#greek mythology#odysseus#penelope#telemachus#the oddyssey#argos the dog#just yelling into the void

odysseus is generally seen as 'morally ambiguous' due to his not always being seen as the best of people- but this is a very modern and feminist take, and whilst nothing is inherently wrong with the idea of feminist takes and retellings, it skews what we have and already know of the myths, and this can be seen most predominantly in the character of odysseus. odysseus is two things:
- not meant to a hero
- not meant to be good
he is written as a man faced with impossible odds, and who loses some- if not all- of his morality in doing so. BUT where does the idea of him being 'bad' come from? the penelopiad by margaret atwood, a woman known for being quite vitriolic towards men of any kind. in recent years, people have picked up on three major things from the odyssey:
- the hanging of the maids
- odysseus cheating on his wife
- odysseus going mad at the end
NOW, to break it into points:
the hanging of the maids is so often seen in a feminist light due to margaret atwood, where odysseus is painted as some cruel, vile, disgusting predator who loathes women. this isn't true to the odyssey AT ALL. in the odyssey it is explicitly stated by the nurse that raised telemachus: 'i shall single out those who betrayed you, my lord' and by one of the maids herself- melantho: 'if we sleep with the suitors, when they become king we will be in favour with him.' and THIS is why he killed the maids. not because he was insane, not because he was bad, but because they had betrayed not just him- but his wife. not all the maids were killed, only those who slept with the suitors. the argument most often used for this is that the women couldn't say no, but this goes against what the maids themselves say in the odyssey when they believe no one to be watching.
odysseus cheating on his wife HE DIDN'T. but he is a man, and as a man, he cannot be raped. he is a terrible man for sleeping with circe and calypso when he could have- as epic decides to say- say no. which is untrue!! these are goddesses. titanesses. circe is the daughter of helios, and calypso is daughter of atlas. they could overpower him simply by looking at him. circe turned his men to pigs, even with the moly she could have easily done the same- or worse- to him. the idea of him choosing to and being unfaithful stems from madeline miller's, Circe which whilst not inherently bad, goes out of its way to put all men in a terrible light, because the heroes deserves no rights in feminist retellings. odysseus wanted to say no, but could not as hermes explicitly told him he couldn't. on the flip side, calypso threatens, ensnares him and only releases him when told to by hermes and the council of the gods. in the odyssey it is literally stated: 'and odysseus stayed on the shores weeping for home before joining the nymph in her bed.' he did not WANT to sleep with calypso, but was left with no other choice but to do so. this is a recurring theme for calypso.
but he is blamed due to his gender, and the idea of 'feminism' and 'patriarchy'.
and now, the real reason for odysseus being seen badly:
the telegony the telegony is a myth written after the odyssey with telegonus- son of circe and odysseus- as the main character. in this he travels to find his father and meet him, but accidentally kills him on the shore. (peneleope marries telegonus, and circe marries telemachus) but this is where the idea of odysseus' insanity comes from. in the telegony, it is stated he went mad after the war, and couldn't survive without bloodshed, and so he went out seeking war, and women, and battle, and went mad in this.
the statement: 'generous to odysseus' is wholly unfair, because he is a man forced to lose everything, assaulted, violated, tortured and imprisoned with no hope of survival. he goes to war knowing he won't return for 20 years, won't see his wife, and won't watch his son grow. he is a man not a god, or a demigod. he's just some dude doing his best.

HADES 2 SPOILERS (possibly).
*falls through the ceiling* hi sorry if this has been asked before but as you are someone who Gets It, and i am a tired classics + theater double major who gets too insane about characters. i am so curious. have you played hades 2 early access yet and what do you think of odysseus’s characterization in it?
Oh haha hello
This is going to sound a bit incomprehensible sorry I am very sleepy
But hmmm I'm. I'm kinda 50/50 on it? It's a very interesting route to take, because their characterization of Odysseus is a man very influenced by the past. He constantly references his history, he brings up men he used to fight with in the war, he still jumps at Doom, he still hears the sirens' song. (Which. Is so interesting to me. Because I love the idea that you never get the song out of your head. I just dislike the particular conversation it was in, but I digress) He admires and tends (?) to Melinoë's garden. He meets at the taverna and tells tall tales. He's very human! I really like that about him.
I just,, kind of dislike where they went specifically with his relationship with Penelope and Telemachus? To have broken up off screen, because Penelope found out about his affairs? Honestly also kind of does Penelope a little dirty too, I doubt she would be ignorant if that were the case. Hades 2 is very much about homecoming, which is probably why it's so saturated with references to the odyssey. Odysseus cited his own family when he tells Melinoë to keep hers in mind in order to urge herself forward. But in another conversation, the only thing he can say about Penelope is that they were cordial? It just feels wrong haha.
Though part of me wants to think it's a sort of way to deflect, if that makes sense? The way he speaks is so winding, it almost feels like a shield. I'm not gonna assume until I get the full game I think, but this might just be wishful thinking on my part.
(also the "weaknesses for goddesses" sure is a way to put it! Wow! But again. Shield perchance, or even just because he doesn't have any other way to describe it)
#athena has a line mentioning how circe created quite a predicament regarding odysseus#not reading into that its just interesting the different ways odysseus and circe' relationship is referred to#wolfy tedtalks#hades 2 spoilers#achilles is also influenced by the past in a way that has made him melancholic and stagnant#the past makes odysseus flighty. he's constantly moving. even his sprite wanders from his post unlike achilles'. which is interesting!

Ithaca saga spoilers!! (me ranting about telemachus) I know i said i'd post this when the livestream comes out but I can't wait i'm too insane about it. The songs have dropped on spotify its good enough...
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE LIKE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY, TO SAVE THE SUITORS??? Like okay sure maybe he was like "throw down those weapons" just to convince them to stop and he'd kill them anyways.
But just!?! the idea that these people. these awful people. who hurt him. hurt his mother. dictated most of his life. these people who he's afraid of. he wants to spare them, he WANTS to save them. And mind you!! telemachus is very eager to fight people!! We've seen him in previous songs! we know what he's like. But the fact that he throws that to the side for whatever reason, maybe it's kindness maybe it's something else. maybe it's the fear of seeing them dead maybe he doesnt want to cause his father any more problems.
Maybe its because he doesn't know what he'll do next once it's over.
But he goes out of his way to offer them peace. And not only. do they say no. but then they try to use him as bait to get to his father!?!?
the ONE thing that he wants in life, is to be just like his dad, for his father to admire him, to be LEGENDARY. and now they're attacking him, using him against his father. God and in his eyes he must feel so so pathetic, so useless. He's meant to show his father how strong he is, how he's cool and still worth loving, and now he's being even more of a problem.
And god maybe he's going to die here, and maybe he's okay with that.
But he sounds SO desperate and so scared.
"Get off me! Get off me!" He's only 20, and over a hundred men must be chasing him, stabbing him, hurting him making a show of him. He's so scared and he can't do anything, because he's just one guy.
AND I HAVE BEEN LOOPING THAT PART AND IM SO SURPRISED NO ONE HAS TALKED ABOUT IT YET.
Like the first Get off me, sounds so angry and the second one sounds so afraid, hes not sure he can keep up this charade anymore.
They ARE holding him down, They ARE breaking him. and it's everything he fears.
And then his father shows up. and saves him?? and in a way that makes it even worse for him. because now his fathers first time seeing him. in 20 fucking years, is him pinned down and bleeding thanks to the people he's just let run around in his fathers place.
And then he's expecting his father to be mad at HIM, but he's not?! he's just worried for him, and misses him, and telemachus doesnt know how to process that because just like Odysseus, he is so used to being. alone.
I've literally only seen people talking about Athena showing up in telemachus reunion song with his dad and like??! WHY LOOK AT THE POOR BOY!!! LOOK AT HIM!!! HE'S SO DESPERATE TO SEE HIS DAD!! HE'S SO UNSURE OF HIMSELF AND INSECURE!!
20 years of waiting, and now he finally has a chance, at living this time. He no longer has to wonder, what it would be like to not be alone. He's been through so much, but his life is, really only just beginning.

EPIC THE MUSICAL SONGS RANKED BY ME
With the release of the Ithaca Saga, I can finally rank all the songs from the musical! I did this before, for Act One, so I naturally I gotta do the whole show.
Before we dive in some disclaimers:
This is my personal opinion, and forewarning here, there are some hot takes and very unpopuplar opininons below. If you disagree you are welcome to talk your shit on the notes because there is nothing I love more than arguing with strangers on the internet. No really, I mean it. Give me your worst. Just have some decorum, dont get your panties all twisted
ALL SONGS ARE GOOD. I LOVE THE ENTIRE SHOW. Just because a song is low, it does not mean I dislike. I just like it less than the ones above them.
I am ranking based on overall quality, replayability, personal enjoyment, basically just what my silly little brain thinks about it.
40 - CHARYBDIS
Truly a nothing burger. She's just...there.
39 - SIX HUNDRED STRIKE
This song is to me what The Godfather is to Peter Griffin from Family Guy. Do with that information what you will. Also, first impressions unfortunately matter, and that CG animatic...yeah.
38 - GET IN THE WATER
Poseidon should've a second verse before Ody had his. If he did, i'd like this much better. And by now you can deduce what is my least liked saga LMAO, and I really didn't want it to be so, but these three are probably the only songs in the show I actively dislike. Unfortunately the hype was too high on these, and they did NOT live up to it. I fear we lost a little bit of the plot after the Thunder Saga, although Wisdom was (much) better than Vengeance.
37 - POLYPHEMUS
It's slow, heavily dialogue-y and is not very fun to listen to outside of a full listen through of the show. Just not my vibe at all. Still love her tho <3
36 - STORM
My opinion on her has not changed in the slightest since the last time I ranked it to be honest, but the addition of the 20 other songs made her plummet. Still think she lacks a little bit of flavor, a little something. Haven't felt her since tiktok teaser days, still don't.
35 - LUCK RUNS OUT
I said it once and I'll say it again. I am pissed at the change from the teasers lmao, the rappy version of Eury's first verse was SO much better and I am still salty about it, but it is a good song overall and I like Eury's character beginning to blossom here.
34 - LITTLE WOLF
Don't shoot! The song is great, i love Athena's part, but idk, it's so weird to put it before We'd Be Fine. Like, I just can't put my finger on why, it's just my truth.
33 - THERE ARE OTHER WAYS
We have officially entered No Skip territory. 33/40 is a great score.
The intro and the duet are amazing, I am a sucker for duets between man and woman: Bad Idea from Waitress is one of my fave broadway songs of all time, and that last high note is life changing but Circe's second verse is kinda meh. It has grown on me quite a lot since last ranking.
32 - PUPPETEER
Anyway, I love me some Puppeteer. The intro is amazing and fooled me, i thought Eury was going to profess his love or something. The Lyricism, the dynamics between Ody and Eury, perfection.
31 - KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE
She is weird but she is good. Another song I love that plummeted in the rankings because of the second act lmao. Jorge has since then showed us the twink.
30 - THE UNDERWORLD
My opinion hasn't changed but I'm tired of Polites showing up everywhere lmao
29 - LEGENDARY
Pretty good song to introduce Telemachus and Antinous, silly and fun, but not much else to say. Very solid, good song, nothing to complain about.
28 - ODYSSEUS
She is incredible. The edge, the villain era, the violence and the climax of it all, remarkable. The vocals are insane, the extras, all. I screamed when Telemachus appeared.
27 - DONE FOR
Oh how the might have fallen LMAO this was ranked 7th last time, but the competition is STEEP baby. The second act songs just blew it out of the park, plus many songs I ranked low last time went up so yeah. Still an amazing song, and i will always love it as the one teaser that truly got me into this musical.
26 - MUTINY
ARMANDO JULIAN. Stellar performance, and that Just a Man reference my GOD.
Truly insane how low this song is, when this is song TWENTY SIX the other 25 have to be absolute bangers, which they are.
25 - FULL SPEED AHEAD
The harmonies, the character intros, the simplicity, the naïveté, the HARMONIES, YES, AGAIN THE HARMONIES. Troy saga best saga, and if you disagree you can eat my ass
24 - WARRIOR OF THE MIND
This song was second to last on my Act One ranking and I would like to apologize, as I ranked all athena songs kinda low back then. The cultural impact this had alone makes her stand above many. Great song.
23 - DANGEROUS
Hermes wouldn't disappoint me, even among the Vengeance Saga he shines. I love this song. Animatic on the live stream kinda sucked, (no shade to the artist, I loved your work on I Can't Help But Wonder) but the song has been stuck in my head since before Troy was cast.
22 - HOLD THEM DOWN
YES. YES. I LOVE A VILLAIN WHO IS JUST IREDEEMABLY EVIL. God, I love Antinous's character so much, and Ayron Alexander's performance is simply insane. His death was SO FUNNY, truly, I love this song.
21 - LOVE IN PARADISE
Another song that snatched my ass during teaser era, I adore Love in Paradise. The percussion, the immaculate vibes and the emotional whiplash at the end, i just love it.
20 - GOD GAMES
I'm so sad she isn't better LMAO, the gods' arguments were too short! This should've been an 8 minute song, and I am so serious. Either way, despite my gripes with it, I love it, and I want Luke Hot to step on my neck, respectfully.
19 - OPEN ARMS
A classic. What's not to love about her? The dialogues get a bit meh, but c'mon, who cares? Love Polite's solo moment. I just with it had more duet-y parts.
18 - SURVIVE
This song grew on me tremendously. I didn't like it as much at first and i ranked it pretty low last time, but holy shit. This song is so ALIVE. it fills me with, idk, gas? You get it, right? PUSH FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAARD!
17 - DIFFERENT BEAST
The payoff on Monster, a masterpiece tbh. Great song, very dark and violent, just how I like it. First time Ody actually scared me.
16 - MY GOODBYE
Perfection, but I wish Ody and Athena really had a proper duet, like harmonizing together and stuff at some point on the show, and I feel like here would've been the perfect opportunity. But the song is phenomenal, and the JUST A MAN REFERENCE? Lifechanging.
15 - REMEMBER THEM
Top 15 mean we have entered perfection. All songs from here on out are 10/10, with zero notes. Perfection. Immaculate. No suggestions, no way to be better, no. PERFECTION. The rankings are just numbers atp, ngl, except for the top 5.
She is serving rock pauleira, serving angst, serving outro. Like, she is neither man of mythical like, what else you want me to say?
14 - THUNDER BRINGER
My GOD. Oh Luke Holt, you are so sexy, just one chance please!
13 - THE HORSE AND THE INFANT
What an opening. That duet, the set up for the best song on the show (spoilers IG), THE DUET WITH ZEUS? HELLO? (have I mentioned I find Luke Holt attractive?) Perfection.
12 - SUFFERING
Oh she is SO FUN and so catchy, and Anna Lea? I have to stan.
11 - WE'LL BE FINE
This is so beautiful, honestly, Mico's voice is the sweetest and I said before i LOVE duets between men and women, idk why, it just hits all spots on my brain. That first "MAYBE" they sing together sounds fucking angelic.
10 - NOT SORRY FOR LOVING YOU
@ghostlycollectorchaos hates to see me coming at 5:50 am belting this at the bus stop. Calypso they could never make me hate you. She was just in a silly goofy mood u guys!
9 - WOULDN'T YOU LIKE
Oh Hermes, I love you so much. The TikTok snippets had me on a chokehold. (Hermes, however, is not my fave character anymore. Penelope snatched his spot from his hands)
8 - THE CHALLENGE
Speaking of the Queen, OH THE CHALLENGE HOW I HAVE LOVED YOU FOR YEARS! For those who don't know, this and NSFLY have been (kinda) out for a long time before release because Jorge presented them on workshop before even the Troy Saga came out! And The challenge has always been one of my favorites. Anna Lea delivered a spectacular performance. It brought me to tears to finally see it out.
7 - I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER
I wish I could forget this to listen for the first time again. Tears, every single time. Also ATHENA IS ALIVE YALL.
6 - MONSTER
I mean, come on. Do I even have to say anything? When he quoted Poseidon. The venting about all he lost, THE CONFIRMATION THAT HE DID, IN FACT, KILLED THE BABY. HE BECOMING THE MAN TIRESIAS SAW IN HIS PROPHECY. I MEAN, COME ON
5 - NO LONGER YOU
Wig? Snatched. This was my favorite song for a while, I even auditioned for it lmao. Deffo my favorite one to sing, still. Mason DEVOURED this track, and the prophecy? Odysseus's scream? Setting up Monster, AKA one of the best things in this show? Gagged me, your honor. I can't stress enough how much I love Mason's performance here.
4 - RUTHLESSNESS
I was INSUFFERABLE when this came out. I made this song my entire personality for a good 3 months. Ask anyone close to me. She was on repeat for WEEKS. Steven Rodriguez, man. God. That man's voice. That man in general, actually.
3 - SCYLLA
The most hype song in the show, sung exquisitly by who can only be described as vocally insane KJ (have yall seen the video of them belting her lungs off while KAYAKING?) But honestly, what I love the most about the song is the lyrics in the chorus.
"Die in the blood where you bathe" will forever be my favorite line in EPIC.
2 - WOULD YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH ME AGAIN
Tears. Every single time. Shit, i'm beginning to tear up writing this. The voices, the harmonies, the rage, Penelope's gambit, THAT RIFF ON "FOR YOU", THE JUST A MAN INSTRUMENTAL THAT MAKES ME CRY. The fact that the show ends in "i love you". I just can't describe in full how much I love this song. I can't wait to see the many actresses that will play penelope on broadway.
1 - JUST A MAN
Remarkable, showstopping, absolutely the best song ever made in a musical. The lyricism, the production, the poetry, vocal performance, I really don't have much to say because it's not needed. All of my favorite moments in this soundtrack, unreleased songs included, are moments in which this song is referenced.
I love this song so much i literally can't think about things to write that can represent how much I love it. Shit, this entire part is straight up copy paste from my act one ranking.
My life's dream is to go to broadway once to see this fucking song live, and i know it will be life changing.

Stranger part 5
Reader is Telemachus' friend, and when he leaves for his "diplomatic mission" he asks her to watch over his mother.
Later, once the king has returned, she stumbles upon an injured Poseidon.

“When that man went to far, you slayed him without second thought, but now, when a woman does the same, you let her off with a warning. Why?” A voice sounded. As she looked around no-one else seemed to have heard it. She wanted to reply, but had no clue how, would she have to speak aloud?
“I’m in your head, there no need to speak.” Well, that cleared one thing up, she still had no idea who it was, or how they could get in her head. Was she going insane? Or had the sleep deprivation finally caught up to her.
She’d given the man, the same courtesy she’d given Agathe, but while Agathe had realized she’d gone to far, the man had doubled down on his behaviour. Both Ares and Dionysus had given her permission to protect the priestesses.
If Agathe had not stopped, she wondered what she would’ve done. The choice was easy to make if she had divine permission, but if she hadn’t been granted that, what would she have done? Stop her and possibly face the wrath of an angry God? She imagined Dionysus would not take kindly to an attack on his priestesses.
Even if had not minded it, would she be willing to face the consequences in town? Agathe was very influential, her mother would not forgive her, she’d be living a personalized hell. And what of Irene? She was incredibly fond of the girl and could not imagine how hurt she would be.
“You mortals are so, Complex. All those feelings, and rules, and repercussions.” Mortals? Not another God. Gods had only brought death in her life. If her past was anything to go by, this exchange was not a good omen.
“Now, now, I never told you to stop playing. I just wanted to pick at your brain a bit, see what all the fuss is about. You’ve caught quite a few eyes, you know.”
☆☆☆ ☆☆☆ ☆☆☆
Poseidon had used up all his energy to call off the storm after his humiliating fight with Odysseus. Healing would take some time, but he was mortified at the idea of anyone seeing his godly form so injured. He pushed himself even further, just so he would not be recognized in his wounded state and then he promptly passed out.
When he woke up he was disoriented, without opening his eyes he realized he was on something softer than sand or stone. There was more covering his figure then when he’d fallen asleep, when he opened his eyes, he saw that he was in a room. A very pretty girl was sleeping on a chair next to the bed he was on.
For a moment it distracted him from the fact that he had no clue how he’d gotten here. Wherever here was, anyways. In addition to that, the pretty girl was covered in blood.
The things that covered him turned out to be bandages, but they could’ve been laced with poison, for all he knew. He had to get out, and quick, but his body betrayed him. Every movement felt like he was getting stabbed all over again.
He’d been caught off guard when the previously sleeping girl chastised him for ruining her handiwork. So, she’d been the one to patch him up, then. He didn’t know if he should be relieved or worried because of that. For a moment he thought the blood that stained her must have been his, but then he noticed her wounds and the bloody axes by the door.
Soon after he woke up she’d left. His voice had been croakier than he’d expected. How long had he been out for? He’d smiled at the prayer the girl had sent his way, how amusing, sending a prayer to a God, all the while he’s in your home.
☆☆☆
The next day had been more eventful, he’d not seen the girl when he initially awoke, but when he heard someone rummaging in the other room he figured she must have slept there. He’d kept his eyes closed as he heard her return and leave once again, but not before checking on him. Once he thought she wouldn’t return anytime soon he started prying off his bandages again.
They’d been neatly wrapped around him, he’d almost found it a waste to remove them, but he had to see his wounds for himself. He was a God damn it; he should’ve healed by now. Of course, that would be the time that the woman decided to walk inside. She’d helped him, offered him a bath. He could not stop himself from teasing her.
He’d expected her to run away like a blushing virgin or jump his bones, the former was more likely after her reaction to his actions, but she’d gritted her teeth and actually helped him. He’d hoped for the latter. Poseidon, or Perikles as he’d introduced himself as, had taken many lovers in his life, but not many were as beautiful as she.
☆☆☆
Her friendship with the prince had been a shock, for someone who lived as humbly as she, to be close to a member of the royal family? It was unheard of. Then there was the fact that this was the son of the man who’d done this to him, who’d caused him this pain. He’d not had the chance to talk much with the girl that day, but she intrigued him.
What business did she have at the temple, who’s temple was it anyway? Where’d she learn to play the lyre like that? Why was Athena following her and her friend? Where was her family? Surely a girl her age would not live here alone? From what he’d observed the shack she called home was quite secluded. Was she widowed? She was hardly of age to be married, so likely not.
Who was Ónoma, and why had she been covered in blood?

i just finished lisrening to the ithaca saga and oh my gosh... that shit was PEAK
Mild spoilers and yap session ahead!!
(for the purpose of this post, Odysseus will be reffered to as Ody so he dosent get mixed up with the song)
The Challenge was such a great opener song! Penelope's voice is just so perfect and i may have cried a little. Iys the last saga ok i got a little emotional
Hold Them Down was just batshit insane. Antinous' voice slayed as usual but in a creepy way. I was genuinley shocked at some of the lines (in a good way ofc). The suitors were not messing around huh
Odysseus had me in full on shock. Ody became the monster rawr rawr rawr and he just went fucking HAM in those suitors. He heard them threaten his son and wife and said OH HELL NAW. also the open arms line was just straight savage.
I Cant Help But Wonder might be my favorite song from the entirety of Epic. Never has a song made me cry as musch as this one. Mico's voice works so well with Jorge's and having Ody meet Telemachus for the first time was so insane and emotional. Also ATHENA IS THERE. She dosent do much but it felt really bittersweet. Always great to see my girly Athena.
Would You Fall In Love With Me Again was pure bliss. I cried here too, mostly because they kept singing "waiting, waiting." Also ODY GOT HOME TO HIS WIFE!!! BIG W!! Once again, their voices are amazing and yeah.
I have so many emotions about this saga, mostly crying, but you get it.
10/10 saga, would cry again

My Thoughts On the Vengence Saga 🔱🩸
HOLY SHIT ODYSSEUS MY GOD, BRO DID NOT HOLD BACK. The saga started with I'm not sorry for loving and it was sad on Calpyso's part (WANGUI COOKED SHE ABSOLUTELY COOKED) but I'm really glad Jorge didn't have Odysseus accept her "apology" because what she did even though she tries to justify it, it was 100% wrong AND THEN HERMES SHOWED UP AND WE GET REFERENCES TO THE TROY SAGA, OCEAN SAGA AND CIRCE SAGA. AND I LOVE THE "IF YOU DANCE WITH FATE THEN I KNOW YOU'LL ENHANCE YOUR STATE" LINE. I LOVE HOW MANY THINGS GET PERSONIFIED IN JORGE'S MUSIC LIKE PRIDE AND DANGER FEEL AS IF THEY'VE ACTUALLY COME TO LIFE. ALSO, THE FACT THAT JORGE'S SISTER VOICES THE PRINCESS WINION IS SO FUNNY TO ME, LIKE WE HAVE THE WHOLE FAMILY NOW. BUT DANGEROUS IS A BANGER LIKE I KNEW IT WOULD, ALL HERMES SONGS MAKE ME WANT TO DANCE. THE WINDBAG MAKES A SECOND APPEARANCE SO WE ALREADY KNOW THAT IS GONNA HAVE SOME SIGNIFICANCE. ALSO, ODYSSEUS IS GONNA USE RUTHLESSNESS FOR SURE. I ALSO LIKE THE "DON'T THANK ME FRIEND, I'M NOT THE ONE WHO FOUGHT FOR YOU" and Odysseus is like who then?? I was kinda hoping that Athena would show back up and it would be this whole big moment but she didn't :( RIP. Charybdis is REALLY COOL it was different from what I expected and I'm pretty sure it's Jorge's only entirely solo song In the show which is really cool. I also LOVE that right before Odysseus explains he doesn't have to fight Charybidis we get an electric guitar rift to show that he's using his intelligence. AT THE END HE SEES ITHACA AND HE'S ALMOST HOME AFTER ALL THESE YEARS AND THE MUSIC IS SO SOFT COMPARED TO EARLIER IN THE SONG. But... POSEIDON SHOWS UP. IM ANNOYED FROM A SHOW PERSPECTIVE BECAUSE JUST LET THE POOR MAN GET HOME BUT STEVEN IS ALSO SO TALENTED. HE WENT BEAST MODE FOR GET IN THE WATER. I like how intentional Poseidon's threat of "I'll take your son and gouge his eyes" to give an eye-for-an-eye deal to harm Telemachus as Odysseus did to Polyphemus. I also love Odysseus really does use all his tricks because he tries to show Poseidon to forgive and almost "Greet the world with open arms" but when Poseidon ignores him, he goes F* it. Then Poseidon uses his final boss move "OCEAN SHATTER" and Odysseus gets weighed down in the water by everyone who has died because of him in someway. But what I find heartbreaking is instead of singing their own motifs or "final thoughts" they all sing Waiting and his name until something clicks in his mind. ODYSSEUS GRABS THE WIND BAG AND OPENS IT WITH GLOWING RED EYES DESPITE KNOWING THAT IT WILL BLOCK HIS ONLY WAY HOME. HE USES IT AS A JETPACK AND STRIKES POSEIDON WITH HIS BOSS MOVE "600 HUNDRED MAN STRIKE" JORGE DID SUCH A GOOD VOCALLY TO SHOW HOW ANGRY AND SURE OF HIMSELF ODYSSEUS IS. ALSO WHEN HE'S ATTACKING IT SOUNDS LIKE LEGENDARY AND I THINK IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE HE'S CLOSE TO HOME SO HE'S MORE SIMILAR TO HIS SON. ALSO, THE VOICES OF THE CREW IN THE BACKGROUND IS JUST AHHHH. ALSO, I LOVE THAT WE CAN HEAR THE WND BAG MUSIC AND THE STORM MUSIC AS THE BATTLE IS GOING ON. Then Poseidon proceeds to taunt Odysseus by the fact he released the storm because now Poseidon can kill him and there's no way for him to get home. ODYSSEUS GOES APESHIT, or rather VERY CALM. We hear the danger motif as Odysseus walks toward Poseidon and Posiedon says "You can't kill me" and Odysseus says "Exactly" HE PICKS UP POSEDON'S TRIDENT AND STABS HIM OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER TO THE POINT WHERE POSEIDON IS BEGGING HIM TO STOP. but Odysseus has a Ruthlessness is mercy mentality and doesn't stop even as Poseidon, god of the seas, is calling him a MONSTER. AND THE CRAZIEST PART IS Poseidon relents the storm and asks "How will you sleep night?" and Odysseus goes "Next to my wife" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LIKE LINE IS SO ACTUALLY INSANE LIKE THIS SAGA WAS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER AND ODYSSEUS HAS TRULY STOPPED CARING ALSO, EVERYONE'S VOCALS WERE OFF THE CHARTS AND IM GOING TO BE OBSESSING ABOUT THIS FOR THE COMING WEEKS. As usual, thank you to the entire Epic Crew and everyone behind the scenes for making these sagas, they are awesome.

Things have been CRAZY since the Thunder saga release! I love it SO MUCH! Thank you thank you Jorge and cast and crew and everyone it was amazing! (Also, Jay, pay for my therapy-)
Anyway, here's my immediate reactions to the Thunder Saga as I listened to it when it dropped at my midnight! (I'm australian, so I got to listen to it 12 hours before the Livestream lol)
Oh btw; copious amounts of swearing ahead. I had zero filter on my thoughts while smashing my keyboard as the songs played, so lmao yeah

OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S LIKE THE START OF POLYPHEMUS WITH THE ARROW SHOT.
the grunge thing in the background reminds me of that one BNHA s5 ost track with the MLA boss. Uhhh Re Destro I think?
Oh god IT'S THE FUCKING SIRENS!! JAY FUCKING LIED A G A I N !!
ODY WHAT THE FUCK YOUR VOICE WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS SO FUCKING BADASS WHAT
Oh I just looked at the title it's called Different Beast!!
Beeswax!! They did the thing!
"So I just played along" -> "now I know how to get back to my island!" omg holy fuck Ody you're so fucking smart
This is just Suffering part 2 and I love it so much
Oh my fucking god. Ruthless odysseus is a fucking DIFFERENT BEAST.
NOT THE "WHOA" FROM REMEMBER THEM WHEN THEY'RE STABBING OUT POLYPHEMUS' EYE!!!
Holy fuck. That was insane. OMG IT'S SCYLLA TIME!! What the fuck those two songs went by so fast. Scylla's ALREADY HERE??
EURYLOCHUS' SECRET
HE OPENED THE FUCKING WIND BAG I KNEW IT!! BUT BRO REALLY JUST CAME OUT AND SAID IT! MY MOUTH LITERALLY DROPPED OPEN!!
NOT THE FORGIVE ME!
FULL SPEED AHEAD
OH GOD SCYLLA'S VOICE IS SO PRETTY
Odysseus totally ignoring his confession
AHHHHHH IT'S HERE!! THE FIDDLE !! IT'S HER!!!
"DROWN in your sorrows and fears!" THE GROWL!!
The death screams holy shit
"We are the same you and... I" Omg the harmonising.
Wait that's IT??? NOOOOO. But oh god it's Mutiny next
The orchestral LRO theme!!
Ohhh Eury's fucking pissed. Oof that spat "captain"
Wait I have to go back, I didn't catch that. Something wits something crazy and mad?
"When we fought the cyclops" It's this part!!! Ooh this is before the LRO reprise? 👀
ooof he's pissed.
*sword through flesh sound effect* - Ohhh that's fucking sickening
Oh shiiiit. wait wait wait that's Ody's voice. Did the crew just stab Ody in the back???? Wait I have to go back.
Oh they DID.
Yo wtf? Time skip?? Oh they didn't kill him??
oh fuck the cow sounds
Wait wait no oh shit Eury's singing the Zeus/survive melody???
"Please don't tell me you're about to do what I think you'll do!" Oh shit but that was EURYLOCHUS' LINE!! NO STOP
HE CALLED HIM ODY!
"I'm tired my friend!" NO NO NO
"Please don't do this! I need to get. Home!" ODYSSEUS' VOICE 😭
Ok but the ensemble and strings and shit is heavenly oh god

"WHO DO YOU THINK HE'LL SEND?" Oh god ody that was raw
FULL SPEED AHEAD
*Thunder sounds* - oop
Aaand there's an ad. Fuck.

oh bye bye eury
YO WTF. IT'S TELEMACHUS' LULLABYE. IS THAT THE END. IS THAT IT. WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT DOES IT MEAAAN
yeah that sounds like closing credits for real. If I didn't know he survives then I'D THINK HE'S DEAD FOR SURE
-
IT'S OVER????? Holy shit. Bro I have to just. Sit. For a second.
Ok I'm listening to that over. God.
The LYLA chick or whatever! From Spiderverse! That's who the "oh no *rolls eyes*" reminded me of!
Also, is this why Jorge said the 12 long years was wrong in TAOW? 'Cause it sounds like they've spent a while running from Poseidon after The Underworld saga, so was it intended for there to be a timeskip of two years between the Acts?
Ohhh wait shit. Did Scylla influence Eurylochus' decision to tell?? Is that what Jorge meant by her having some sort of telepathy?
So "reason for shame" and "we are the same" is to both of them - Eury for the bag, and Ody for what he's planning on letting happen - and "leaving them feeling betrayed" is because both things make the other feel betrayed?
oh god wait was I right about that too?? Six torches. Six men. He definitely planned that then. Shiiit
Yep that's six death screams.
Ohh yo. Eurylochus wanted all the power. He took the power from Odysseus. And then Ody game him all the blame when Zeus arrived.
There's boat creaking noises in the pause before "Then you have forced my hand." Huh I guess it makes sense that they're still on the boat. I guess my mental image was influenced by the beach fight vid XD
huh an ad again on thunder bringer. Wow yt hates this one
Yeah the vocal performances of the cast were are next level. The emotion in their voices hit 👏 different 👏
Well damn. I love it so much more the second go around, and I already loved it.
just kinda sitting here in silence lol. I don't have anyting rn. No thoughts head empty.
shit. Well eurylochus is dead. O7 I guess.
The Thunder Saga is over. Damn.

Okay okay okay fic idea where Antinous has a type of disorder/mental illness/psychosis (idk) that makes him hear voices and shit (don't cancel me for misrepresentation of any disorder, if I ever write this I'll put in the research to make it as accurate as possible) and he just spends his entire life ignoring them and thinking fuck it, I guess I'm crazy, and just dealing with it in all the wrong ways.
He gets in a fight with telemachus, gets heated and while fighting, starts shouting at seemingly no one to leave him alone and fuck off or something. He doesn't think much of it, I guess the prince will think I've lost it completely, so what? He's not the one I wanna fuck. But BOOM plot twist, telemachus has something similar and also hears voices, the difference is that he went to his mom and deals with it in a more healthy way, so he tries to subtly as antinous if he needs help and shit happens and they bond over feeling insane :3
Idk I like characters with issues and I recently watched arcane so antis behavior would be very much inspired by jinx.

Do YOU have any headcanons about the Ithacan royal family that you'd be willing to share? >:D
SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG!! I was super busy and it took me a while to type everything out (as you'll see)
Here we go!
-Odysseus was a little shit as a kid. Causing trouble and headaches.
-He inherited most of his mischevious nature from his mom :D But she did NOT encourage it too much.
-But Autolycus did. His relationship with little Odysseus was the "do you see this shit odysseus??"
-Eurycleia is the one who kept him in check.
-"Odysseus DON'T do that." "gET BACK HERE YOU JUST BATHED-"
-He DID eventually calm down as he got older. But he is still a shit at heart.
-Also he absolutely BRAGGED about his big ass scar he got from a boar.
-But it causes him problems for the rest of his life. Lots of pain.
-He started with running to exercise and strengthen that leg (all that running came in handy when he had to win the hand of a certain Spartan princess)
-Ctimene is almost as mischevious as him, she's just more discreet about it.
But she's definitely more collected than him.
-Ctimene and Odysseus got along pretty well as kids. Bantering good-naturedly and often driving their parents insane.
-Laertes is so easily frightened and often gets light-headed when he gets startled.
This backfired really badly for mischief-loving-Odysseus several times.
-Laertes taught Odysseus everything about plants and stuff, and it always kind of stuck with Odysseus
-Odysseus is short. Ctimene? Even shorter.
Anticleia is the tallest of the four. No one inherited her height.
-Odysseus loved swimming as a kid! He longed for the feeling he had when he was swimming as a kid, but after he got home he developed a crippling fear of the ocean.
-Penelope and Odysseus didn't really fall in love at first. It was more vibing because they found someone on the same level. It's only later that they kind of thought "ah shit i think there's something else"
That feeling actually came to be when Penelope chose to go with Odysseus over staying in Sparta with her father. That's when Penelope realized that she actually loves him, and Odysseus too was like "ah shit."
-ANTICLEIA AND PENELOPE GOT ALONG WELL. Anticleia, who was also really clever, enjoyed Penelope's quiet intelligence and understood exactly why Odysseus loved her.
-I like to imagine that Ctimene married after Odysseus and Penelope got married, so she had the opportunity to meet Penelope
-Penelope loved Ctimene like a sister! It was almost like she was with Iphthime, and Ctimene definitely liked Penelope a lot as well
-Penelope is left-handed.
-Given that Penelope's mother is a naiad, she really likes water and often went swimming in the sea.
-While she can't breathe underwater, she can hold her breath for quite a while
-Odysseus sometimes accompanied her on her swims! Which is where she showed him how long she could stay underwater. The guy almost had a heart attack after not seeing her resurface for a while
-Odysseus got Argos some time before Telemachus was born.
-Odysseus was just walking around minding his business when a little puppy came up to him. He tried to shoo him away but the little thing was persistent. Odysseus thought of just ignoring him, but relented when the dog kept following him with no signs of stopping. He kind of admired the pup's determination and endurance, so he thought he'd make a fine hunting dog.
-Basically Odysseus and Argos are like the "Odysseus doesn't want a dog. Ends up with a dog anyway. Odysseus and the dog:" meme. You know it.
-Odysseus was always calm and calculating in any situation, but god fuck he was losing it while Penelope was giving birth. Just sitting in the courtyard and slowly losing his patience.
-He always wanted a son.
-He cried when Telemachus was born. That's a fact.
-Penelope got very sick after Telemachus was born and it took her a while to recover. Sickfic potential!
-Odysseus proudly presented his son to the owl that seemed to follow him everywhere. hmm.
-Said owl often sat on Telemachus crib and watched him closely
-Odysseus carved little toys for Telemachus, even before he was born
-Telemachus was a sickly kid
-And he gave Penelope too much worry after Odysseus left
-He was either sick or being a little mischevious playful toddler
-Someone constantly needed to watch Telemachus because he had a habit of slipping away quietly
-One time he left the palace as a kid without telling anybody and returned only when the sun started setting. He was somewhere doing kid shit.
-Penelope absolutely lost her mind in worry. Where is her son? What could have happened to him? Is he alright? What will her husband think if she loses their kid like this? She worried a lot about what Odysseus will think of Ithaca, her and Telemachus after he returns from the war. Does he still care? (little does she know Odysseus calls himself "Telemachus' loving father")
-She cried when Telemachus came back like nothing happened. His mother was sobbing and kissing him and holding him so tightly and he was like ":DD??? wha??"
-This was why Penelope was so worried when she couldn't find Telemachus that one time, and Eurycleia told her he left to find news of his father
-There were times where Penelope was.. not doing well. It often happened when there were no news from Troy. She'd hide away in her chambers and wouldn't see anyone. Only Telemachus, but even that was sometimes. But after the war ended and there were either absurd stories of Odysseus' travels or no news at all - she wouldn't see anyone.
-So Telemachus spent quite some time at Laertes'. But even Laertes was shrouded in grief, which was no comfort for the rather lonely Telemachus.
-Telemachus was constantly surrounded by sorrow and grief. This will come to shape him a lot.
-Telemachus has back problems. He slouches a lot.
-He is also really good with animals! Dogs especially love him!
-He grew up with Argos as a very young kid, but as he got older and suitors started arriving - Argos got neglected and Telemachus had no memories of him anymore since he was so young.
Part 2!

Apologies if you've been asked this before, but I was curious what your top 10 Epic songs are!
I don't think I have been, and I shall happily share! In no particular order but definitely chronological because I could NEVER rank them properly:
Just A Man (it's sad but weirdly catchy! Plus if you're full of hubris you can associate it with Bode Akuna)
Warrior of the Mind (the VIBES the fact it reminds me a little of The Queen's Thief! Plus also Athena is one of my favorite characters, and this is such a cool intro to her)
My Goodbye (The breakup song of all time, matched only by She's Gone by Hall and Oates. It's so fun to sign your heart out with this one)
Wouldn't You Like (I used to be neutral on this song and then @undying-lilies said it was her favorite and I went hmmm I wonder why and relistened to it. And it was hilarious and I love it so much it's a BANGER. Although I always found "and I call this root HOLY MOLY" so funny)
The Underworld ("ALL I HEAR ARE SCREAMS-") (but really it's a devastating banger. How could I not love it?)
Suffering (which is really fun to say out loud. "Oh yeah I love Suffering it's awesome!" try it lol. But it's such a fun duet!)
Legendary (TELEMACHUS MY SON THE JACEN VIBES I LOVE IT)
We'll Be Fine (it was such a close call between this one and Little Wolf and they should really both be on here but We'll Be Fine is the third in the trilogy of Warrior of the Mind and My Goodbye and it's so upbeat and peaceful and just. AUGH I LOVE IT SO MUCH "you're a good kid" "thanks!")
God Games (it's so VARIED it has like five songs in one (like Band on the Run by Wings!) and I love all of them especially Hera and Hephaestus and Athena going up against all the other gods on Odysseus's behalf? I'm insane about the part where Zeus goes "you're playing with thunder, for a man full of shame, but if he's worth the risk of going under" AND HE IS TO ATHENA IT'S SUCH UNCONDITIONAL LOVE SHUT UP NO ONE TALK TO ME also the end. Words fail me)
Dangerous (LISTEN HERMES IS MY OTHER FAVORITE CHARACTER HE'S SO SILLY and this song is a B A N G E R)
Honorable mentions to Little Wolf, No Longer You, Open Arms, Luck Runs Out, Done For, and Remember Them, all of whom would be on here if this was a top 16 lol! But there are really no bad songs in this musical
#thanks for the ask!!#i'd love to hear your top ten! i think i've asked before but that was before the vengeance saga#epic the musical
