"Free tutor support"
tefl online pro review, submitted by Jillian. I notice many of these TEFL programs charge extra for tutor support but tefl online pro includes the support for free as part of the course package. Job assistance support and help with any work visa questions were also included in the price of the course, as was the extremely helpful advice I received about writing a resume specific to teaching…

Teaching English Abroad
I thought I'd post a little guide/some things to think about for teaching English overseas for anyone who is interested. I taught in Beijing for 1.5 years at a training company so that's the only place I have direct experience, but this is just a general guide that I think can be applicable for anywhere.
SEARCHING
Finding teaching jobs online is super easy - you can just Google 'ESL teaching jobs in (city/country)'
You can use third party sites or apply directly through a company's website
What kind of place do you want to work in? - Private school? University? Training company?
What age level do you want to teach? - Young children? Older children/teenagers? University students? Working adults?
Where do you want to work? - Any specific country or city?
REQUIREMENTS
Different countries, and even different cities in those countries, have different requirements.
Larger cities tend to have much stricter requirements than smaller ones.
For some places, maybe just an undergrad degree is okay but other places will require more qualifications
Having a TEFL certificate seems to be a common requirement nowadays
Something to keep in mind, online certifications might not be okay. While I was in China apparently laws were changing and you needed to have at least some in-class time with your TEFL certificate; fully online ones were not being accepted(?) (not 100% sure on this because it didn't affect me)
Good schools or companies with good reputations might also require teaching experience or a degree in education
You'll probably need to be a native English speaker from an English speaking country (not sure about any exceptions to this)
BEFORE APPLYING
Read reviews! Read tons of them and pay close attention to the negative ones as they are often very telling
Keep in mind that everyone's experience is different and lots of positive reviews doesn't mean you will have a good experience, just as negative reviews don’t mean you'll hate it
Talk to people that have taught overseas, especially in the city/country you want to go to
Check the requirements for the company/school - do you need a TEFL certificate or is just a BA okay? Will the company sponsor you to get a TEFL certificate?
Do a lot of research about the city/country - Does it realistically seem like somewhere you'd like to live?
Check the salary against other schools/companies to see if it's higher or lower
What are they saying about getting your visa? If anything seems fishy or other people have complained, forget it. It's not worth legal trouble or getting deported.
If they are not getting you a visa/residence permit the 100% legal, correct way, don't even consider it
THE INTERVIEW/RECRUITING PROCESS During this period it's important to ask lots of questions to make sure you understand what you're getting into
What are the working hours?
How many classes will you have a day? How many hours will you actually be teaching?
Are teaching materials provided or will you have to make your own?
Are you alone in the classroom or will you have a helper/teaching assistant (especially for teaching children)
Will you have to provide sales support for potential customers (training company)? If you do, do you get a bonus for successful sales?
What is the annual leave?
How many sick days do you get? What is the policy for using them?
What happens if a family member passes away back home? Are you entitled to bereavement days? Will they allow you to go home for a funeral?
Is the pay sufficient to live comfortably?
When are your weekends? - Saturday/Sunday? During the week? Are the two days split up (ex. Monday and Thursday)?
Will the company/school pay for your flight?
If you save any money, how can you get it home? (How much can you physically carry out of the country? Can you do bank transfers? Can you use PayPal?)
This is important, because it can be quite a hassle. And it definitely is if you’re going to China!
LIVING
Will the employer provide an apartment?
If so, how close is to where you'll be working? Is it furnished? Is it clean? Will you be sharing it with other people?
If not, will they provide a stipend (usually included in your monthly paycheck)? How much will they give you? Will they help you find an apartment?
How much is rent in the city you'll be living? And, what is this cost in relation to your pay?
What are some good areas to live in?
BEFORE ACCEPTING A JOB OFFER
Be realistic. I know it's amazing to think about living abroad but a bad job can easily ruin the experience
You might think 'the hours are long, but it's okay because I'll still be living in (country)!' or 'the pay is low but...' Noooooooo. Don't fall into this mindset. How can you enjoy living there and travelling and doing things when you're at work all day, or you have limited vacation time, or you can barely save any money after paying rent?
What happens if you quit? - Will you be penalized in any way by the company/school? How much notice do you have to give? What happens in regard to your apartment contract?
Think carefully, and truthfully weigh the pros and cons
Why do you want to do this? What are you hoping to get out of the experience?
EXTRA As I said, I worked for a training company teaching adults and did not enjoy my working experience. I think people generally have better experiences at universities or private/international schools. You might make less money at a university, but you'll work less and gets lots more time off. If you want to make lots of money, teaching kids at private/international schools seems to be the way to go (people I knew were making over double what I was per month). You'll also get lots of time off doing that. And again, everyone's experience is different. I know people who didn't mind the job or the company I worked for, whereas I hated it. So in the end, it's really hard to say what your experience will be like before you get there and start working. But honestly, even though I hated my company, it was an amazing experience and I’m glad I did it. I was also very happy to quit ;)

5 Cheap TEFL Courses Online (Fully Accredited)
Getting TEFL certified can result in fun travel job opportunities around the world. But it can be hard to make a large investment in a TEFL certification program upfront.
In this post, I’ll talk about some of the best cheap TEFL courses that will allow you to achieve your teaching aspirations without breaking the bank! Not only are these options more affordable, but they are recognized companies.
Get a cheap TEFL certification online with one of these 5 legitimate, accredited companies.
What Is A TEFL Certification?
A TEFL Certification is a credential that allows you to teach English as a foreign language in another country. You can get certified by completing a TEFL training course.
In your course, you’ll learn basic teaching skills and methods that will make you a more effective educator.
I got TEFL certified in 2017 because I knew I wanted a job that would allow me to travel. I discovered online teaching and have been virtually tutoring students from all over the world while wearing pajama pants ever since!
Teaching online from my virtual classroom
TEFL Job Opportunities
Once you have your TEFL certificate, there are a lot of exciting directions you could choose to go in! You could teach beginner English to small children in China, or business English to professionals in Brazil, or help teenagers in Thailand prepare for language exams.
If remote work is more your style, you could start teaching English online to students all over the world. The best part is that most TEFL certifications are universally accepted and never expire, so you can change up your teaching gig as much as you want.
Types Of TEFL Courses
Once you’ve decided to get TEFL certified, you’ll need to choose the best type of course for you. TEFL programs fall into three main categories: online courses, in-person courses, and combination courses.
In this article, we’re going to focus on the cheap online TEFL courses you can take (the in-person ones are more expensive).
In an online TEFL course, you will complete all the modules on your computer at your own pace. Online courses are best for people with busy schedules. They are also often the least expensive option because you don’t have to pay to travel to the training location or take time off work while you study.
How Many Hours Should I Take?
All TEFL courses are offered in hour increments. You might see 60, 80, 120, and 240 hour TEFL courses all offered by the same company.
This number refers to how many hours it should take you to finish all the material. Higher hour courses mean you’ll receive more in-depth training.
Lower hour courses will be less expensive, but be careful about signing up for a cheap TEFL certification course which is too short.
Most countries and companies require that you have a minimum 120-hour TEFL certificate to qualify for teaching jobs. As a rule of thumb, stick to 120-hours or higher to keep your options open.
Because a 120-hour TEFL course is a minimum requirement for most teaching positions, I’m only comparing 120-hour course offerings below.
While some companies may offer lower hour courses for less money, it’s worth getting the 120-hour option to have a full range of job opportunities.
I teach online, but with a TEFL, you can teach around the world in a classroom as well.
Accreditation
For a TEFL certificate to actually help you get a job abroad (or online), it must be accredited. This means that an official educational body has reviewed the material and given it a stamp of approval.
Legitimate courses have their accreditation information listed clearly on their website. All the courses discussed below are accredited.
A Note About Pricing And Cheap TEFL Courses Online
It’s common for TEFL companies to offer steep discounts for their course prices. There are some companies that regularly discount their courses by 50-80%.
For this reason, I highly recommend that you click the links below to see what deals are being offered at the time you read this post. Even if a course price sounds too high, you might find a special offer when you go to the website.
For this article, I’ll include the “normal” course price as well as the current discounts. Keep in mind this might change by the time you are signing up for a course so it’s worth it to check out what each company offers.
1. MyTEFL
MyTEFL offers courses that are cheap, self-paced, and fully online. They have great reviews from previous students and are a reliable option for someone who wants the TEFL basics.
What This Course Offers
MyTEFL courses are fully accredited. They include unlimited virtual tutor support which is great if you’re new to teaching and have questions. Most students finish their 120-hour online TEFL course in 3-6 weeks.
Pros And Cons Of MyTEFL
The upside of MyTEFL is that you can get a legitimate, high-quality TEFL course for an affordable price.
When you finish the course, you’ll get your certificate and a letter of recommendation which could help you find future jobs. You can also reach out to MyTEFL for job placement assistance at any time.
The downside of MyTEFL is that their courses don’t have hands-on training.
While you’ll leave the course with a good theoretical knowledge of TEFL teaching, you might want to arrange your own teaching practice or classroom observations before landing your first job.
MyTEFL Course Cost
The 120-hour online MyTEFL course costs $299. Goats On The Road readers receive 35% off by using promo code GOATS35 at check out.

2. TEFLPros
TEFL Pros is a 120-hour online option with great reviews! One of the best parts about TEFL Pros is that they actually offer a free mini-TEFL training lesson so you can see if the course is a good fit before you purchase.
What This Course Offers
TEFL Pros is fully accredited and can be completed whenever you want. Usually, it takes students about 3-6 weeks to work through all the material.
The lessons cover a wide array of practical topics like classroom management and how to teach grammar, reading, writing, and speaking.
Pros And Cons Of TEFLPros
The upside of TEFL Pros is that they are focused on preparing teachers for real life in the classroom. Teachers must complete a portfolio of activities and lesson plans that they will receive feedback on.
Later, they can use these materials in their classrooms. Also, TEFL Pros includes several hours of classroom footage from real ESL classrooms.
The downside of TEFL pros is that they don’t have formal job placement assistance. Even though they will provide you with resources to write a good teacher resume and prepare for your interview, they don’t advertise their job placement services. Instead, they claim to prepare you so well you don’t need help finding a job.
TEFL Pros Course Cost
The TEFL Pros course costs $349. Remember that they also offer a free trial so you can see if the course is right for you before you purchase it.

3. i-to-i TEFL
i-to-i TEFL offers a wide range of courses, but if you’re trying to stick to a budget, their Level 3 Introductory is the cheapest TEFL course. In the 120-hour course by i-to-i, students can work at their own pace and get the help of a virtual tutor.
Like all companies on this list, i-to-i is fully accredited.

Pros And Cons Of i-to-i TEFL
On the upside, i-to-i TEFL courses are very cheap. According to student reviews, the material is straightforward you’ll likely be able to move through it quickly.
Unfortunately, i-to-i TEFL has received some negative student reviews about the level of customer support and depth of material. Some previous students feel that there could have been more information provided, especially about trickier concepts like teaching grammar.
i-to-i TEFL Course Cost
Normally, the 120-hour i-to-i TEFL course costs $499. Right now, the cheapest TEFL course is currently 60% off.

What This Course Offers
ITTT offers in-depth material that prepares students for their future classrooms. They also offer support to graduated students through job placement assistance, interview preparation, and resume help.
Pros And Cons Of ITTT
Across the board, ITTT has good student reviews. It’s good value for money and you’ll learn a lot of practical information.
One downside that previous students mention is that there is a summative task at the end of the course. This assessment will cover material from all the modules, so you probably don’t want to take too long to finish the course.
ITTT Course Cost
ITTT has two versions of the 120-hour TEFL Course, one with extra videos and tutor support and one without. The 120-hour TEFL course on its own costs $239. The upgraded course costs $349. Goats On The Road readers receive 15% off using this link.

As a downside, some students did mention that they had trouble getting in contact with customer support, and that feedback throughout the program was minimal.

Pros And Cons Of The TEFL Org
An upside to this course is that students have six months to work through the material at their own pace. Most students will finish in around 2-3 months, but it’s nice to have the extra time if needed. Also, graduates get a lifetime of job placement assistance.
The downside is that there isn’t a hands-on teaching element to this program.
The TEFL Org Course Cost
The TEFL Org 120-hour course normally costs $509 but it’s currently being offered for $254.50.

Should I Choose The Cheapest TEFL Course?
While it can be tempting to just grab one of the cheapest TEFL courses out there, take some time to make sure the program is in line with your needs.
It is definitely possible to get a quality TEFL course for an inexpensive price, but be sure to verify the following:
The TEFL course is accredited
It’s enough hours that you’ll qualify for the job you want (most countries/companies require 120-hours minimum)
It includes additional features like tutor support and job assistance if needed
You can find positive student reviews about the company on third-party review sites
If you find a cheap TEFL certification that meets all your requirements and will prepare you for your future classroom, that’s great news! You’ll be on your way to an exciting TEFL job without breaking the bank in no time.
Once you’re TEFL certified, you can start searching for teaching jobs. VIPKID is a great option for teachers from the USA and Canada, while EF Education First is a good bet for UK citizens. For those of you who are TEFL certified, but don’t have a Bachelor’s Degree, don’t worry, there are many companies that will hire you!

ITTT TEFL Review: A Guide To The Courses
Wouldn’t it be great if you could travel the world while doing exciting, meaningful work? As a TEFL teacher, you can! Getting TEFL certified can open up opportunities to teach English across the globe.
This post will cover everything you need to know about getting TEFL certified with the International TEFL and TESOL Training Program, also known as ITTT.
Why Should You Get TEFL Certified?
Having a TEFL certification can help you qualify for all kinds of teaching jobs. Whether you plan to work from home as an online English teacher or teach abroad in cool places around the world, a TEFL certification can make that happen.
Your TEFL training will prepare you to teach English as a foreign language.
You’ll learn practical skills like classroom management, lesson planning, and teaching technique. After you complete your training, you’ll have a certification that employers look for when they’re hiring teachers.
While other requirements tend to vary based on country and company, the vast majority of English teaching positions abroad require some kind of TEFL certification.
With so many good TEFL programs out there to choose from, it can be hard to figure out which one is best for you.
That’s why I’ve been writing posts about some of the most popular programs around. You can check out other top online TEFL programs in this post, but today we will take a closer look at the TEFL options provided by ITTT.
Why Choose ITTT International?
ITTT has offered TEFL training since the early 1990s and is fully accredited.
Their online TEFL Courses are accredited by the Online TESOL and TEFL Standards Agency (OTTSA). The Teacher Training Council accredits their combination courses, and their in-person courses are backed by Lamar University and the Siam Institute of Technology.
ITTT stands out because it offers so many different course options.
You can choose from 60-hour beginner courses all the way up to 550-hour comprehensive bundles. All TEFL programs with ITTT come with an optional virtual tutor add-on for people who want extra support.
The result is that you can go as in-depth or minimalist as you want with ITTT. And because they offer so many options, there is also a good chance you’ll find a course that suits your budget.

550-hour Expert Package: This is the big one! The expert package includes a 120-hour TEFL Course, the 250-Hour TEFL diploma course, add-on courses in business English, teaching young learners, and teaching online, as well as a 30-hour teaching practicum.
I know looking at all those options can feel overwhelming, so remember this: for most jobs teaching English abroad or online, the minimum course required is the 120-hour TEFL.
Doing a higher level course could help your application stand out but typically isn’t required.
Online TESOL Diploma
One thing that sets ITTT apart is that they offer an advanced online TESOL diploma course. This course is designed to be taken after you complete your 120-hour TEFL training and will help you deepen your knowledge.
The online 250-hour TESOL diploma covers topics such as course design, classroom management, assessment, language acquisition, and more. At the end of the course, students will complete a final thesis assignment.
You can choose if you want tutor support or not. You can also choose if you want to bundle your TESOL Diploma course with other courses to save money.
If you decide to enroll in the TESOL diploma course, you’ll also receive the prerequisite 120-hour TEFL course for free.
In-Person TEFL Courses
If you want to get certified in-person, you’ll have plenty of choices to choose from with ITTT.
ITTT in-person training courses take place all over the world and last four weeks. These in-person courses cover the following topics:
Hands-on teaching practice
Foreign language experience
Language, phonology, intonation, and grammar training
Practice working with students one-on-one
Teaching techniques like correction, evaluation, lesson planning, and classroom management
Lesson creation practice
Right now, ITTT lists 30 different locations for in-person training. To learn more about the specifics of each destination, including the price and upcoming dates, you can visit their website here.
Practice Teaching Options
ITTT offers two combination courses that include hands-on teaching practice.
150-hour online course with Teaching Practice
150-hour online course with Live Practicum
For the first option, you’ll complete your TEFL course online. After you’ve completed the online portion, you’ll arrange six hours of practice teaching at a facility near you.
This can be done at a volunteer center, school, or other location offering English classes.
After you’ve completed the practice teaching hours, you’ll submit documentation to ITTT and it will be reflected on your certificate.
For the second option, you’ll complete the 120-hour TEFL course online and then observe real ESL classrooms and practice teaching lessons over video conference.
You’ll still get to see how experienced teachers run their classes and get feedback on your own teaching skills but it can be done remotely for added convenience.

Pros and Cons of ITTT International
As with any company, there are a few upsides and downsides to consider.
Pros of ITTT
ITTT has been around for a long time and has a good track record of helping students get TEFL certified. They have experience helping other students succeed and good reviews overall.
A board of ESL professionals and experts also moderate ITTT to ensure the course content is always up to date and accurate.
This TEFL company provides a huge variety of courses. Every option can either be purchased with tutor support or without tutor support. You only pay for what you need.
You also have options to get TEFL certified online, in-person, or a combination of the two. Finally, students can bundle courses together for more training at a lower price point.
If you choose to take an online course, you’ll be able to work through the material at your own pace. This is a huge pro for teachers who have a busy schedule and are balancing their certification with school or a job.
If you need to get in touch with someone at ITTT, they are easily reachable by phone, WhatsApp chat, Facebook Messenger or email.
Finally, the price for ITTT is in the lower range for the number of hours offered.
ITTT is one of the more budget-friendly options out there and great if you’re wanting to get certified quickly and affordably.
Cons of ITTT
I mentioned this above as a pro but it can also be a con: ITTT offers a ton of different course options.
If you’re feeling unsure of where to start, the number of options available is totally overwhelming. Luckily, you can easily reach out to an ITTT staff member through their website to discuss your specific situation.
Another con that was mentioned occasionally in student reviews was that some of the online-only classes lack practical teaching elements.
Some students felt that there weren’t enough opportunities to get feedback on lesson plans and that the quizzes were too easy to pass.
Finally, while it is advertised that ITTT includes job placement assistance, several students mentioned that this assistance was minimal, rather than extensive.
Can Anyone Take This Course?
The ITTT International TEFL course is open to anyone who is fluent in English and at least 18 years of age.
You’re not required to have a degree or any experience teaching, but these qualifications could give you more job options in the future.
That being said, there are still options for teaching English online and abroad for those without a Bachelor’s Degree or prior teaching experience.
Having an accredited TEFL certification will make your application more appealing to potential employers.
How To Sign Up
Signing up is easy and doesn’t require any commitments.
Go to the ITTT website and click on “Apply Now” in the top menu bar. Scroll down the page until you see the form to input your personal information.
You’ll fill out the form then push the “Apply” button. Someone from ITTT will be with your shortly to help you decide which course is best for you.

Is ITTT International The Right Fit For Me?
ITTT is a great fit for students who want lots of options to choose from.
If you think you’ll benefit from having the support of a virtual tutor, you can add that feature to your course. If you’d rather save a bit of money, you can choose not to have tutor support.
You can also choose the level of instruction that you wish to receive.
For some students, the basic 120-hour course will be plenty. Others may wish to take their TEFL training a step further by enrolling in 50-hour specialty courses or the more advanced TEFL diploma.
The choice is yours and the options feel endless.
ITTT is also a great option for students who want to get TEFL certified abroad. With dozens of locations to choose from and reasonable course fees, getting your certification might become part of the adventure!

Taking The TEFL Pros Course: A Complete Guide
These days, more people than ever are staying home, working remotely, and using their free time to complete online courses that will benefit them later.
Maybe you’d like to teach abroad in the future. Perhaps you’re considering online teaching as a remote work option.
Either way, taking your TEFL course online and getting certified is an important next step to take. This post will cover everything you need to know about getting certified with the innovative online course, TEFL Pros.
But, before we dig into TEFL Pros, let’s cover some basics.
What is a TEFL Course?
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
A TEFL course is a training program that will certify you to teach English to foreign students abroad. Accredited TEFL courses are an industry-standard in the world of teaching abroad and teaching online.
In-Person TEFL Courses
TEFL certification courses can take many forms. Some people choose to take in-person or onsite TEFL courses. These programs offer hands-on training, either in your home country or in the country where you’re interested in teaching.
In-person courses tend to last between three and four weeks. They often have structured class days filled with lectures, classroom observations, and real teaching opportunities.
In-person courses can be more expensive since you’ll have to consider flights, lodging, and living expenses. The big benefit is the fact that you’ll walk away with experience in an actual English classroom.
Online TEFL Courses
Online TEFL courses are also quite popular.
These programs are fully digital, meaning you get to complete the material at a time that’s right for you. You won’t have to travel very far to get certified online since you can work on the course from the comfort of home.
Because they take place online, these types of courses tend to be less expensive than onsite TEFL courses. They are preferable for those who want to get certified while balancing a busy schedule.
What Will I Learn in The TEFL Course?
TEFL courses generally cover the following information:
Becoming a teacher 101. If you’ve never taught before, learning about basic teaching theory and methodology will help make your lessons more effective
How to create lesson plans for different kinds of topics such as speaking, listening, reading, grammar, and writing.
Tips for managing a classroom while encouraging students to participate.
Information on how to create teaching resources like review games, activities, and assessments.
Typically, these courses will start by covering the basics of teaching. You’ll learn about managing a classroom, your role as a teacher, and how to make lesson plans. After learning the foundational information, you’ll and move into more specific TEFL teaching strategies.
If you’ve taught before, you might be wondering if you really need a TEFL certification.
When I took my TEFL course, I had already been a traditional classroom teacher for three years. I had my teaching license and my Master’s degree in education.
But even though I was comfortable at the front of the classroom and well versed in my curriculum, I didn’t know much about teaching English as a foreign language.
By getting certified, I learned about teaching strategies and activities specific to this subject.
During the course, I definitely learned helpful tips that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. I also made connections with other aspiring teachers who I’m friends with to this day.
What Jobs Can I Get With a TEFL Certification?
Getting TEFL certified will help you qualify for online teaching jobs and traditional classroom teaching positions. Around the world, accredited TEFL certifications are a non-negotiable requirement for many employers.
Once you’ve completed your TEFL program, your application will look much more desirable to future employers and you’ll feel more confident as you begin your teaching career.
A TEFL course is a good fit for you if you want to:
Start teaching English online
Apply to teach in a traditional classroom abroad
Offer freelance services as an online ESL instructor
Volunteer as an English educator abroad
About TEFL Pros
TEFL Pros is a relatively new online certification company, but even though they’re the new kid on the block, they’ve received excellent reviews.
The company was started by two TEFL teachers, Jos and Whitney, who felt that there was a gap in the market. They wanted to create a high-quality and affordable course that focused on practical, real-world knowledge.
The result was TEFL Pros, a 120-hour digital TEFL course that’s fully accredited and packed with resources. The lessons and modules are specifically designed to prepare teachers for life in the classroom.
TEFL Pros offers multimedia instruction to support a variety of learning styles and follows a self-paced model so you can learn when you want, where you want.
You’ll watch videos, take quizzes, and create portfolio pieces in addition to learning the written content in each module.
You can access the course materials from any device, any time. This makes TEFL Pros an awesome option for anyone who needs a flexible online course that complements a busy schedule.
TEFL Pros offers a clear, well organized, and professional online learning experience. The community is supportive and communication is streamlined for ease of use.
Why Choose TEFL Pros?
TEFL Pros is worth looking into because they offer the best features of an online course and an in-person course simultaneously. They do this by incorporating hours of real-life classroom footage and training videos with their digital, self-paced content.
TEFL Pros students often mention that these training videos were one of the best parts of the course. If you’ve never taught a lesson before, it can be hard to imagine how activities and instruction will play out in a real classroom.
By viewing hours of authentic classroom footage, you’ll gain more insights about what to expect and how to prepare.
Both of the TEFL Pros founders recently worked as TEFL teachers themselves, so they know what new teachers need to succeed in the modern market.
The course is designed to remove the fluff and focus on building skills that teachers will use from day one.
The TEFLPros 120-hour online course is also fully accredited by ACCREDITAT, an international TEFL and TESOL accreditation entity.
Cost Of The Course
The TEFL Pros course costs $349.00 USD. When you sign up, you’ll receive instant access to the course and all materials.
One of the great parts about the TEFL Pros course is that you can actually get a sample of the lesson materials before you decide to purchase.
On their website, you can sign up for a free trial which includes a 2-day introductory course. This sample is available to everyone at no cost.
By signing up for the free trial, you’ll receive the same quality of instruction that you’ll get in the full-length course. You’ll use what you’ve learned to create a lesson plan and get access to bonus resources you can use.
TEFL Pros Online Course Material
The TEFL Pros course covers the material outlined below in the form of 10 modules. The course takes around 120 hours to complete.
The introductory module includes welcome materials, teacher interviews, and information about the bonus resources and materials included in the course. Then you’ll get into the meat of the content.
The 10 main course modules focus on the following topics:
The Role of Teachers and Students, including teaching theory and best practices
Lesson Planning Basics, including classroom observations of effective lessons and guidance on how to plan a TEFL lesson, step by step
Planning Lessons to teach Speaking
Planning Lessons to teach Writing
Preparing lessons for the first day of class
How to manage a classroom
Getting students involved, including how to give effective instructions and feedback
Grammar, including parts of speech and grammar tenses
Planning for last day lessons
Final tips, including grading and exams and classroom materials
In each module begins with a trainer chat video from one of the course instructors. At the end of each module, you’ll complete a quiz and a portfolio assignment.
At the end of all the modules, you’ll complete a final exam and submit your portfolio for review.
How Long Does The Course Take?
The TEFL Pros course takes about 3-6 weeks if you’re taking it in addition to working or studying. Since the course is self-paced, though, you’re free to work at your own speed.
You have 18 months of access to the material after you purchase the course. If more time is needed, that can be arranged on a case by case basis.
Pros and Cons of TEFL Pros
In this section, we’ll look at some of the great parts about TEFL pros and some of the less desirable aspects.
Pros of TEFL Pros
One of the biggest perks of TEFL Pros is that they offer a free trial to interested students. If you’re on the fence, you can try them out before you purchase the course.
This free trial includes a two-day mini-lesson, the opportunity to create a lesson plan, and free classroom resources.
Another perk is that each TEFL Pros module has an assignment that can be used in your portfolio down the road. These portfolio assignments are reviewed and you’ll receive feedback, which can help make you a better teacher.
When you’re finished with your TEFL Pros course, you’ll actually have a pretty substantial teaching portfolio ready to go! This means you’ll leave the class with relevant activities and lessons already prepared. You can even show this portfolio to potential employers to enhance your application.
Another TEFL Pros highlight is that they provide their students with 17 hours of real classroom observation videos.
Some TEFL courses require that teachers observe lessons as part of the certification, and TEFL Pros makes it easy to do so. This is especially helpful for new teachers to get a sense of how lessons look in practice.
Finally, when you sign up with TEFL Pros, you’ll receive some valuable bonus materials. These resources include a TEFL Pros Activity Book, TEFL Pros Interview and Resume Guide, and 6 teacher interviews.
Cons of TELF Pros
TEFL Pros doesn’t offer job placement guarantees like some of the other TEFL companies out there. While you’re still likely to find a TEFL job once you have a certification, they don’t offer comprehensive hiring assistance.
Instead, TEFL Pros focuses on building your confidence as a new teacher, helping you prepare for the interview, and allowing you to build a meaningful portfolio. They also provide recommendations for reputable schools around the world.
What Else Does The Course Include?
The TEFL Pros course includes more than just helpful TEFL information. They also include the following features.
A digital and hard-copy version of your accredited TEFL certification
The TEFL Pros Interview and Resume Guide that will help you prepare for your job search
Modules include 17 hours of classroom observation videos
Students receive feedback and suggestions on how to improve their portfolio pieces
You’ll leave with a professional portfolio which can be used in the future
Can Anyone Take This Course?
This course is open to all fluent and native English speakers who want to learn how to teach English as a second language. If you are not a native English speaker, a C2 level proficiency is recommended.
TEFL Pros is not for people who just want to meet the bare minimum TEFL requirements.
In order to get your certification, you’ll need to be ready to work on the quizzes, complete the comprehensive modules, and watch the observation videos.
This course is also not for people who want to be placed in a job by their course provider. Guaranteed job placement is a common element to many big TEFL course companies, but the TEFL Pros course focuses more on the instructional side of things.
How Do I Sign Up For The TEFL Pros Course?
It’s easy to sign up for the 120 hour TEFL Pros course! Simply navigate to their website and click the large green “Buy The Course” button and you’ll be on your way.
