Hey so happy ur requests are reopen, do you think you could write a story along the lines of Eddie only getting with you to get back at steve for something. Like you and steve are bestfriends like brother and sister, but eddie thinks that steve likes you so as revenge he hooks up with you. He said it was a one and done thing just to rub it in steve’s face, but he can’t forget abt you, so he tells steve what is going on and steve tells him that he never liked you as more than a friend but you find out what eddie did to you. Angst with a happy ending if you can, thank you!!

Steve has been best friends with Y/N for years, growing up as neighbors, and parents who held way too many dinner parties. Whenever Steve felt sad, he turned to her. Whenever she felt alone, she turned to him.

When his world fell apart because of Nancy, she stood by his side just a little bit more than usual. Many figured she would become his new rebound, but their relationship was and would never be like that.

His eyes were still set on Nancy, and Y/N's mind was stuck on Eddie.

She thought it was a stupid high school crush. That when she graduated, he would be out of sight and out of mind. That wasn't the case, not when Steve suddenly became acquaintances with the guy.

Eddie despised Steve and everything about him. He hated the way Dustin saw him as this amazing hero. That the girls would fall at his feet and that he never struggled with being seen as a freak.

Eddie hated Steve the moment he became the king and made high school hell. It was a grudge he never let go.

Dustin idolized Eddie and he knew it. It made him feel special and he never felt that before. And Eddie couldn't handle the jealousy he felt when Dustin ranted about how amazing Steve was. It drove him insane. Eddie didn't see where Dustin saw the good in Steve. He was an asshole and a bully. All the things hellfire was supposed to be against.

Dustin also had this thing where he couldn't shut his mouth. Every bad thing Eddie had to say about Steve was delivered straight to the man himself.

Steve tried not to let it bother him. Eddie couldn't even make it to graduation years in a row. Why would he let a loser like that affect him. Steve kept his mouth shut and never said a word. Until Eddie had some words to say about his breakup with Nancy and that's when he snapped.

Dustin thought the feud between the two boys was hilarious. He truly didn't think the hatred was real, just bickering back and forth. So he didn't think anything of it when he told Eddie that Steve said he would never get a girl anywhere near his trailer and his freak show life. He could hate on Steve all he wanted, but he was just jealous of King Steve's status with the girls.

Eddie didn't like the way the words hit him. He was always insecure of the fact he didn't know how to talk to girls or the fact that no girls ever wanted to talk to him. He was embarrassed to be past his teenage years and not having much experience with anyone else.

Eddie didn't like the taste in his mouth, too close to defeat. He wanted to hit Steve where it would hurt the most. Show how much better Eddie can be than him, especially with girls.

So once Eddie set his eyes on the girl that followed Steve around like a lost puppy, he knew what he had to do.

Eddie's plan was simple. Come right in between this new girl and Steve. Maybe take her out, make her forget Steve's name, and have her scream Eddie's at the end of the night. That would show Steve just how well Eddie could have a girl in his freak show life.

Y/N felt like her eyes were half way out of her head as she watched Eddie walk up to the video counter. She turned fast, smacking Steve's arm.

"please, please, please help him." She whispered, her body was already on fire and she hadn't spoken a word in Eddie's direction.

Steve rolled his eyes and bit his tongue. Shoving Y/N aside as he welcomed Eddie to the store with fake politeness.

"Welcome, Munson. How can I help you on this beautiful day?" Steve snickered

Y/N felt herself rolling her eyes at Steve's rudeness. Trying her best to stay out of Eddie's eye sight.

"You can help me by sending the pretty girl back over here." Eddie smirked. Enjoying the way Steve's eyes glared over Eddie's figure.

Y/N felt her body freeze, was he talking about her?

Steve turned around with a small smile, apology in his eyes as he moved away from the counter.

She swallowed and slowly walked back up to the front, standing across from the boy.

"Hi, how can I help you?" She breathed out. Her fingers playing with the loose strands on her jeans. Trying to keep her eyes moving all around so it didn't seem like she was staring at how beautiful he was up close.

"What kind of movies do you like?" He asked with a smile, Eddie knew he had the eyes girls melted for and a smile that could get him what he wanted. He was praying it wouldn't let him down now.

"Um comedy and horror." She squeaked out.

Eddie sighed in relief. Thanking God he wasn't going to be stuck watching a chick flick.

"perfect, me too! I was hoping you could give me some recommendations on horror."

She felt herself nodding before she even knew what he asked.

"absolutely" she said, walking around the counter and over to the horror section. She tried to keep herself calm and collected.

That went out the window when Eddie stood right behind her, his breath against her ear as he reached over her, pointing to covers of films and asking what she thought.

She shivered with every answer. Giving out her honest reviews on the films.

She felt her knees growing weak when he whispered, "which ones have the best sex scenes?"

She tried to get her mind to not think of Eddie watching sex scenes, rubbing himself over his jeans.

She coughed and wiped her hands over her jeans, her mind racing in many directions. She swore the room was getting hotter by the second.

Steve watched closely as Eddie practically rubbed himself against her. Crossing his arms as he felt the anger in his stomach. He didn't trust Eddie around her. She was too sweet and too nice for a guy like that.

Steve watched as she took him back to the counter, scanning the movie and placing it in a bag.

"there you are, enjoy" she said with a smile.

Steve watched as Eddie leaned over the counter, his finger reaching for a piece of her hair. He whispered something Steve couldn't hear, but he watched as Y/N gulped and giggled.

Eddie enjoyed the way he could feel Steve's eyes burning into him.

Watching as the girl in front of him struggled for words. That would show Steve that Eddie wasn't nearly as bad at this as Steve thought.

Eddie left with a wink in Steve's direction, Y/N's number in his hand.

Y/N raced out the front door once she heard Eddie pull up. She was incredibly nervous, but Eddie asked her to come over to watch the movie. A movie filled with blood, sex, and murder. What did she get herself into?

She smiled when he opened the door for her, a wink in her direction once she settled in the seat. Eddie walked over to his driver's side door, his eyes looking up to see Steve watching from his window.

Neighbors? Oh that's even better. Eddie smirked as he nodded in Steve's direction.

It didn't take long for the effects of a sex filled film to hit them. Eddie felt himself shifting every second, and Y/N couldn't help but clench her thighs repeatedly.

All she craved to do was jump on his lap and taste his tongue.

His rough jeans against her bare thigh in her skirt. His arm was thrown over her shoulder, his smell surrounding her.

She felt her breath hitch when his free hand landed on her thighs, his fingers tracing shapes as it traveled up her thigh.

She shivered when she felt his lips making their way down her neck, a soft whisper of her name as he sucked on her skin.

It didn't take long for the movie to be forgotten about. And it didn't take long for the moans to be coming from them and not the movie.

Eddie felt accomplished as he dropped her off. He couldn't wait for Steve to find out all about their night. The hickies on her neck could give Steve the hint of what happened. He opened the door and watched as she got out. Trying his best not to think of how her thighs were covered in her own wetness.

Once he closed the door, he went to say goodnight. But his eyes caught Steve once again watching from the window. As Y/N began to walk away, Eddie grabbed her hand. Yanking her into his chest as he smashed his lips on hers.

He smirked as she whimpered and easily fell into him. He adored how pathetic she was as she clawed at his chest. He slipped his tongue into her mouth, opening his eyes to look up to see if Steve was still watching.

Once they needed air they pulled away, Eddie dropped his eyes back down to her as she took a deep breath. A dazed smile on her face.

He bid her goodnight and waited for her to enter her house before he got in his van. A wink sent to Steve as the boy continued to watch the scene from his window.

Eddie definitely got in his head.

Their movie night was three nights ago and he hasn't spoken to her since.

He felt himself thinking about her way more than he thought he would. He didn't expect to think about her at all. It was supposed to be one night, one fuck, and that was it. So why is he feeling guilty that he never bothered to call?

Y/N spent her third night in Steve's room crying over Eddie. She felt like an idiot. She felt like she made herself appear too easy. It was one date and she slept with him, of course, he is going to think she is easy.

She was embarrassed by how fast she gave in. She didn't know a single thing about him but allowed him between her legs without a second thought. He got what he wanted, and that's why he never bothered to call. He didn't like her, he just wanted something from her.

Steve felt bad for her. He knew Eddie was up to no good when he asked her out. This exact thing is why Steve would never give Eddie a chance to prove he was a good guy. He wonders what Dustin would think if he knew how shallow his new best friend was.

With an apology on his tongue, he walked into the video store. His stomach felt tight as he looked around the store for her familiar face. He didn't see her, but he saw the familiar pissed-off look across Steve's expression.

"Looking for another movie? Or pick up another girl to fuck and dump on the side of the road?" Steve snapped.

The anger in his voice meant Eddie won, but he didn't feel as good as he thought he would.

"I came to talk to her, is she here?" Eddie asked, trying to look around.

"Oh talk? We didn't think you knew how to do that since you never bothered to call." Steve argued, crossing his arms.

"I see she filled you in." Eddie declared. Exactly what he wanted and yet, all he felt was shame for taking advantage of a nice girl.

"Just go," Steve said, shooing Eddie off.

But Eddie stayed. And Steve felt the anger burning all over again.

"Why did you even do it? Do you know how hard it is to have a girl like that? She's funny, sweet, kind, and a damn good person. Now she can't even see that part of herself anymore because she feels so used and cheap. You ruined her for what? Thought she was hot and wanted a quick fuck? The least you could have done was fucking call, coward." Steve snapped.

"I did it because of you! Dustin told me all about how you said I could never have a girl interested in me, in my trailer and freak show life. I knew you two had something going on so I wanted to show you I could bring your girl to my trailer and fuck her. I was angry and it was dumb. I hurt someone that did not deserve to be used as a pawn. I just want to apologize." Eddie admitted. He realized he liked the girl, but in the end, he would never be good for her the way Steve would have been.

"You're right, I didn't deserve to be a pawn in your little feud."

Eddie froze when her voice snapped from behind. Turning around slowly to see an incredibly pissed-off look on her face.

"I'm sorry," Eddie said, making sure he looked right into her eyes.

She sighed and walked out the front door. He looked over at Steve, confused and sad all written on his face.

"Her and I are friends, and that is all. Go after her." Steve advised.

Eddie nodded as a thank you and raced out the door, finding her leaning against the wall.

He walked up to her slowly, her eyes watching his boots inches away from her feet.

"I don't like Steve." She mumbled, the front of her shoe kicking his boot.

He smiled at the small action.

"I've been told, and I'm sorry for the intentions I had, it was wrong and I apologize, over and over. It was stupid to use you. I thought Steve liked you and I just wanted to be better than him. But I'm not. Steve would never use a pretty girl for his own selfish reasons." Eddie confessed. Dustin was right to see Steve as a hero. Eddie was easily the villain in this situation.

"I don't want to say it's okay or I forgive you, because neither is true. But I've always had a crush on you, and I hate that I was so easy." She scoffed at herself.

"You aren't easy, and I never once thought that. I was there too! If sleeping with me made you easy, then I am easy too. I'm kind of a slut." He said, enjoying the way a small smile crossed her face.

"Yeah, you kind of are. Scooping me out and asking for a movie filled with sex? What a whore." She teased. He laughed along with her.

"But I am really sorry. I wish I called, and I wish I fixed this right away and was honest. I wish I did a lot of things. But all I can do now is tell you how sorry I am, and how badly I'd like to start over." He said softly, putting his finger underneath her chin, forcing her to finally look at him.

He sighed in defeat when she stepped back, his touch dropping from her. He nodded his head, accepting the damage was done and that was it.

He turned to start walking to the parking lot, walking towards his van as he looked over at her, she just watched him walk.

He yanked the door open but it was slammed shut. He jumped at the action, finding Y/N there with a smile.

"I'm Y/N, and you are?" She smiled her hand out in between them.

He felt himself smiling as he shook her hand,

"I'm Eddie."

Hey!! I loved your Rinsagi metas and posts. FINALLY someone in the fandom who doesn't infantilize Isagi and sees canon him. Yes Isagi is nice but not like.. nanase level friendly and nice. He's polite but a lil withdrawn and appreciates people's talents but absolutely will not let anyone walk over him. Also,exactly what u said, sadist Dom. Yes please.

And Rin, so many people reduce him to this one-dimensional character who's issues people treat like a joke. When that's not the case? Bachira at least knows his prblms, Rin has no idea at all. Like how horrible does your repression and mental state have to be that the guy that is literally suicidal tells you that you're in a worse place than him. Rin gives off high key depressed vibes.

It's a lot like Post WC kunigami which draws...interesting parallels esp when you look at pre WC kunigami and at how Rin seems a lot happier before the fight. I saw someone make that comparison.

What do you think? How do you think Rin would've been like if Sae had actually bothered explaining instead of what we got?

Also, any opinions on the Itoshi parents? We've only seen half their faces and nothing from them abt their kids's relationship. I mean, it kinda bothers me how we've seen the views of Isagi, Bachira, Chigiri, even Hiori's parents when he's not a main character, Yet we got no input from the Itoshis. Do they just not notice? Are they a bit neglectful esp since they let a 13 yr old Sae go to another country alone? Do they let their kids do whatever they want including fighting for a year? Who knows? I'll love to know your thoughts tho.

Isagi stans, please rise up and help characterise him properly lmao

Stupid long response under the cut, as always.

Rant about my issues with the general fandom characterisation about Isagi. Sorry anon if this isn't what you wanted, I have a lot of Thoughts and Salt where Isagi is concerned, and I am Fandom Old who is growing incredibly sad with how divisive current fandom is over a whole host of things. Skip to Itoshi if you don't wanna read about Isagi + fandom musings. Skip to parents if you wanna read about my thoughts on the family dynamics.

Isagi is, for better or worse, the stock shonen MC. He's enough of a regular guy for the target readers, which are teenage boys, to identify with. As he's the MC, the story overall serves to validate and support him, so long as he fits the themes the author is working on, which for Blue Lock, is the concept of being the best at what you're doing, while also bringing out the best in others, and then working together successfully to achieve goals (i.e. the World Cup).

But, Kaneshiro-sensei's also a strategic writer. Isagi, because he's such a bland self-insert for the most part, combined with how he has a very weird form of Power of Heart, has wound up being an especially attractive character for those who like harem, or reverse-harem series. Which then, for better or worse, brings all the fujoshi fangirls around (the curse of so many attractive characters). But most especially the fujoshi fangirls who are a fan of all x MC ships. I am emphasizing all x MC here, because east Asian/gen Asian fandom, have grown incredibly restrictive and rigid about top x bottom dynamics, which is a whole host of other things and issues to talk about.

Look up any popular shonen jump title, you'll find that these shippers generally have the same tastes, and move around the same fandom circles. You'll usually find them shipping all x MC ships, from Izuku to Tanjirou to Yuuji to Naruto etc. Overall, how they characterise them never deviates all that much. It's the nice, 'innocent', naive, guy who is a bit of a pushover, and who has all the other hot characters wanting to get in their pants. That's where Isagi falls into as well, for these shippers. The more thorny and less 'nice guy' parts of his characterisation gets sanded down, though YMMV whether this is a skill issue by fandom or simply a cultural readership interpretation difference altogether.

On the Itoshi bros:

Yep, Rin has a lot of repression issues. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Rin has no idea at all about his issues (how else would he pick out Bachira's loneliness so quickly lol, also there's some hints from official guidebook), but he definitely lacks self-awareness. I also agree that he and Nagi seem to be on different areas at the spectrum of depression (Nagi being apathetic, Rin being hostile).

If there's anything to parallel Rin and Kunigami, I'd say that it's the 'loss of a dream' and 'loss of companions'. In the manga proper, Rin does seem happier before the fight with Sae, like how Kunigami looked happier pre-WC. However, the light novel shows that Rin was already repressing both himself and his style of football to imitate Sae long before then due to external pressures by his teammates and coach, and even more severely than Isagi, who also didn't have much of a relationship with his own teammates from Ichinan.

If Sae had tried to explain more than that one line about 'the world being vast', they wouldn't have such a strained relationship right now, honestly. While I don't think that Rin would have fully understood what Sae was trying to say because he lacked the experience and perspective, I do think he would have been more supportive, which would have been better overall, for the both of them. They were both idiots that night, lmao, though I do view Sae as having been punished by the narrative when he pushed his dream onto Rin.

About the Itoshi parents:

We know that Rin and Sae presumably used to share a room and a double bed as kids (albeit a fairly spacious one, from the looks of it), which makes me think that they're more likely to be middle class than upper class. Young Rin also accompanied Sae to his soccer practice games, rather than going off for other classes like say, art, which implies that his parents might not have been able to afford it. Sae also walked home with Rin, which further implies that they're parents are busy, though its more of a norm in JP. Possibly a double income household, to fund Sae, and later, Rin's coaching fees and time with the youth football squad. Also a household that seems to have no qualms about Sae, and later, Rin's rudeness and hostility, although they may tone it down around their parents. Sae must have picked his attitude up from somewhere.

I'm reluctant to call the Itoshi parents sending Sae to Madrid at 13 as intentionally neglectful, because there are cultural nuances there. I think the best parallel I can draw is parents from less-developed nations sending their children overseas from an early age to secure eventual permanent residency and establish a life in a more developed nation. Sometimes, home just isn’t good enough. And this is one of Blue Lock’s main story themes: that Japan’s football, as it is, isn’t good enough. They have neither the organizational structure, infrastructure, nor support to get the World Cup that Sae, Anri and possibly Ego, covets.

Sae's dream, and talent, is in football. He's been scouted by perhaps the most successful team in the Blue Lock world, with a world-class program for youths, and has been given the best chance possible, for any kid in his shoes, to fulfill his dream to be the best striker in the world. He's being sponsored, and he also left with a manager who would presumably, help take care of him whilst he was there. Sae isn't going there like say, Ashito from Aoi Ashi, who needed to go through a trial to even be considered for acceptance into the youth squad. He's going there as the equivalent of a golden scholarship student scouted for a potential future work placement, with the likely backing of the JFA.

What alternatives could his parents offer him if he stayed in Japan? His own speech to Sendou pre-blue lock vs U20 match encapsulates what could have been for him (Sendou is very much a foil to Sae, especially now that we know they're both redheads lmao). Being the best in Japan, a middle-of-the-road striker in the world, retiring with an average, albeit decent life. Sae's too egoistic, too talented, too greedy to be content with a life like that. I wouldn't be surprised if Sae had also begged his parents hard to let him go, since it's pretty much all he wanted as a kid.

That's without even taking into account the other problems his parents would face if they immigrated with Sae. How to take care of Rin and his education there, for starters. Rent and housing, finding jobs in Madrid where they likely can't speak the language, and face discrimination.

I think we don't get their parents faces because Rin and Sae's story, and their relationship with their parents, are simply emotionally distant. I don't think they have much parental control over Rin or Sae either.  Sae's been more or less looking after himself/being taken care of by Real Madrid + his manager in Spain since 13, and Rin has been strongly implied to be in much the same shoes since Sae left, to a lesser extent. I doubt they know the more minute details about Rin and Sae’s school life and team experience, both within and out of Japan. I even doubt that they know that Rin and Sae had a fight, honestly, though I can also see them being the kind of parents who will let their kids sort things out between themselves.

Overall: Itoshi parents takes care of them physically (buys them material things, makes sure they have a home to stay in, have a physical caretaker in their place), but emotionally? Rin and Sae seem to be pretty much left on their own. No wonder their relationship with each other broke down, and what little relationships they have with others seem like such a convoluted mess.

I have so much out there but RAPID FIRE:

• How We Began -my magnum opus lmfao. Sot Style slowish burn, them being massive losers for each other, eventual love confessions and soooo much fantasy hurt/comfort. No war, just an elf king and an injured human ranger falling for each other (self indulgent as hell I wrote exactly what I wanted to read lmao)

•And Send It Soaring -a little TFBW oneshot with plenty of Toolshed (my beloved) panicking over Kite nearly dying on a mission. I loooove this one.

•Broken Bottles From Apartment 2 - man I know I never stfu abt OrangeJuiceVerse but this is the story that TRULY solidified that universe for me despite it being later on down the chronological timeline and I’m so attached to it. Domestic style, creek, Tweek angst, and healing arcs because when you’re at rock bottom, there’s nowhere to go but up. Sober king Stan too UGH he’s my baby and I loved contrasting between Tweek and Kyle’s perspectives.

• The Webs In The Rafters - so this one’s WEIRD and surrealist and the darkest shit I’ve ever written so it wasn’t super popular, but the people who were into it were INTO it (the comments to kudos ratio is hilarious) personally I’m a sucker for dark Cryle with Style endgame, badass Kenny, and the whole damn gang being there. Spider analogies, Bunnyyyy, prophetic Tweek, ranch foreman Stan, something sinister under the surface, Putting Kyle In Situations, Evil Craig, it’s a wild ride and it’s inspired by a dream I had lol.

• 5 Stages -another ojv oneshot w some Angry Kyle when our two favorite losers slip in the shower while tryna get ~spicy~ lmfao also Moose the cat I love Moose (I will never in my life stop giving Kyle some kind of chronic ailment)

• And The Lightning Cracks The Sky - I almost like this one MORE than HWB like this fic is my BABY!!! We got Smokejumper/Firefighter Stan, fae prince Kyle, LITTLE MERMAID ASS PLOT (I fucking love this one jesus) the gangs all there, Kenny and Stan being roommates, mutual pining, injury, humor, magic and shapeshifting, evil Cartman, falling in love like awkward losers; when I say this story has been finished for a hot min and I’m still thinking about it.

• I’ll Take It To Mine -the main four boys doing stupid shit, minor injuries (I have problems) THE SBFS, teenage love confessions, just them being hilarious and simps in this one.

• Give You Every Second I Can Find -deadass Stanley Down Bad Marsh trying to execute a cheesy promposal for Kyle and it fails bc his dumbass gets hurt lmao he’s so lame id die for him.

😱 men with mommy issues???....i've never heard anything more accurate in my life. kaiser is relatable in the way that he's just never satisfied with anything. it's like he's incapable of being truly happy, and he himself plays a role in this sabotage. i don't know if it stems from his inferiority complex or smth else but it's just so sickening cus i wld feel the same way too. also ur so right abt the girls with daddy issues. the worst part isn't even how their fathers treat them. it's how everything is ruined for them after that. the self-fulfilling prophecy does not lie. like whenever i see my father in me, i just feel like punching a wall lmao. the anger is hereditary but i want to say that it's not. also like the guilt that comes when the first man you've ever tried to love isn't even a stupid teenage boy but the very man that birthed u

Kaiser + his inferiority complex + attachment issues + bipolar disorder (which he inherited from his mother) is.. a lot to take on. All jokes aside, I think if Kaiser were to fall in love with anyone it would be someone who is as equally mentally unstable and aware of it… and who can make up for the gaps in between. Him making conversation with someone and it lasting more than five minutes is a good indicator of it leading to something more. So that lore.

If I do ever get around to writing more for these boys, what I'm thinking is that monsters had still been underground, but surfaced earlier than usual, around the time Edge and Stretch would've been like, 7-10 ish.

The transition up top took some time, what with there being multiple different ones over the span of a few years, and as the monster sanctioned areas grew, became sort of segmented by universe. This brought its own difficulties with it, as some monsters, mostly those from "Fell" type undergrounds, had harder times adjusting to surface life.

Edge and Stretch met very early on, shortly after surfacing and before the "divisions" got too bad. Edge and Red had already lost their father and were semi accustomed to looking after themselves, but Stretch and Blue's father, while not the most outwardly compassionate, did try to keep an eye on them and help them out in ways Red would let him.

Unfortunately, it wasn't too long after that Swapster got sick and declined pretty quickly. Stretch and Edge were tween/young teenagers when he finally succumbed, but as things had simultaneously been growing more strained between the 'verses, circumstance pushed them apart a bit. They still tried to hang out when they could, and Blue and Red certainly had more than one argument over the two just coming to stay with them (despite barely being able to keep their own heads above water), but distance grew between them over the teen years.

Until Red got sick.

The same illness that claimed Swapster, during one of their rare actual opportunities to spend time together, Edge told Stretch. He'd been doing any work he could get (and Stretch resolutely never asked about the few LV he'd gained over the years), but it just wasn't enough, and Red's condition was only getting worse.

On the brink of graduating or possibly in a gap year, Stretch completely changed his career choice, going into medical science in order to aid in finding treatment for the disease. And with tensions finally eased into a sort of normalcy and Blue having long since secured a decent job, the Fell boys moved in with the Swaps for a little while.

Once Edge had secured himself better work, and using what little savings Red had accumulated before falling ill, they manage to move out after a few years, and make their own way. Red is a trial patient, by Stretch's recommendation, and is currently receiving experimental treatment that hasn't entirely helped in recovery, but slowed its progression significantly, which is really saying something considering how serious the condition is.

Edge and Stretch, of course, have unresolved feelings for each other, Stretch had probably been in love with Edge almost the whole time, but Edge likely only developed more romantic feelings once older, probably during the brief time they lived together. They both care about each other deeply, but tend to dance around heavier subjects and their own personal problems which keeps that little bit of space there even when they'd honestly both be so much better off if they just talked ough

But! They're actually pretty similar to my young code blue boys, but with waaay less angst along the way lol I'd love to write more with them, maybe some of the earlier days like a time Edge snuck in to Stretch's room really late as teens, or maybe them moving in together in the not so distant future (or maybe slightly distant, Edge probably wouldn't until Red didn't need him looking after him anymore).

They're very cute and sweet and I'm kissing them both on their stupid little foreheads. (Also feel the need to clarify that while Edge does have LV, it's not anywhere near as much as standard for when he’s in the guard and everything, like, maybe he’s at abt 4? More than 2 but definitely not more than 6)

some headcanons of hanseo that i can’t stop thinking abt bc he is currently everything to me..

- he is not dumb. can’t believe this has to be said but stop spreading hanseo himbo allegations!! that was all an act. a coping mechanism, if you will. he’s actually very much academically smart! the type of person to speak many languages and be top of the class. but of course, that all went to waste when hanseok decided to use him as his puppet. and his smarts were never appreciated even before that, because of course.. his psycho brother demanded all the attention.

- he never felt smart because he was never smart in a business way. which was all the importance to his family. he’s smart in a humanities/liberal arts way. he never wanted to be a ceo or even in the business field. he just loves academics - that was the only way he could ever escape from the hectic expectations of his home life.

- he’s a curious boy. he has too many things he wants to do!! he’s never been able to pinpoint his exact future (which his family shamed him for) because he loved everything a little too much (not business of course.. never that sort of stuff).

- he’s a homebody. and a clean freak. and a dog person.

- his favourite season is fall!! he loves coffee (or any hot beverages) and he loves watching all the orange dried leaves fall slowly when they’d just been in full green bloom.. of course, fall also brings halloween! which he adores. it was the only time he was ever able to be somebody else, even if only for a day. (as soon as they’d turned teenagers, hanseok declared halloween “too childish”, again bereaving hanseo of one of his very few pleasures in life.)

- after escaping hanseok’s grasp (let’s say, in an alternate world..), he wants to do everything he can!! he goes to pottery classes, learns floristry, writes poetry (badly) and even paints. he tries going to college but it takes a while to decide on a course, or what he wants his career to be.. it makes him spiral so he crosses that off his list temporarily, just to do whatever he wants in the moment!

- he hates suits. and dress shoes. he makes it his life goal to never have to wear those stupid things ever again. so, he buys tons of coloured converses (blue being his favourite). and knitted sweaters, some even with silly slogans and cartoon characters.

- he loves jazz and rnb.. i just know it. he’s become a complete record player/record collector. he even paints some of them

i’ll probably think of a lot more very soon but these are the current thoughts.. pls share your own hanseo headcanons i miss him so much!!

this was orginally gonna be an ask but it was getting long and i was still on the first song so here we are

hi lovie <3 it's 3am for me rn and my insomnia is playing up and that whole love triangle has been on my mind and i remember talking abt it in your 'exiles' chapter so i'm here to rant abt it bc i'm so in love with it and it lives rent free in my mind.. i'm rlly abt to test tumblr ask's word limit.. so i named the songs august, betty and cardigan (we'll mention illicit affairs in a little bit) which are from the perspectives of each character of the love triangle (betty, james and augustine).. it's a teenage, summer love triangle, though cardigan is set 20-30yrs later..

august is from the perspective of augustine, or the 'other girl' in this triangle, the 'affair'.. only, she's this sweet girl who truly falls for this boy who spends his summer with her, taking her virginity and whispering sweet nothings despite having another girl. in the second verse, it's when the infatuation or love starts to become evident as, like any girl in love, she wants to claim him in some way, to reassure herself that he is hers.. in the second verse, it's also clear that it's a teenage love bc augustine wonders whether james will still stay in contact with her once school is back only to then say 'i remember thinking i had you' whilst also saying over and over 'you were never mine' and how their 'love' was 'never mine'.. she's completely infatuated with this 'summer love' that she cancels all plans to be with him in the case that he called.. the song also has this lyric that has somewhat a double meaning.. she says 'meet me behind the mall'.. being an affair, their meet ups are always behind a closed door or behind buildings.. this lyric can also be viewed as 'meet me behind them all' as similarly, the affair happens outside of the view of others..

betty is from the perspective of james and set after summer and the affair are over. ths song is set to act like an apology letter.. in the song, we find that betty found out abt the affair, hence the apology, from 'inez' who spread the rumour, and amongst all the other runours she had spread, this was the one time it had been true. in the second verse, we find that james had been with betty at a social event when he had stood to the side bc he wasn't fond of crowds when betty went off to dance with this guy.. seeing this, james left and was walking along the cobblestone path when augustine pulled up.. he then goes on to say that the days he spent with her turned to nights yet whilst it all happened, he was thinking of betty.. throughout the whole song, james blames his actions of cheating on the fact that he was young, 17 and didn't know anything.. in contrast to augustine who referred to their affair as a 'summer love', he referred to the affair as a 'summer thing'.. the reoccurring theme of james showing up to betty' party occurs as he shows up on her doorstep to profess his love, despite not being the biggest fan of crowds, yet we find that he's still not as empathetic or remorseful as he says 'will you kiss me on the porch in front of all your stupid friends'.. he's just a piece of shit

cardigan is from the perspective of betty and is set 20-30years later, often being sung from past tense as it represents betty looking back on the relationship.. the song compares betty to an old cardigan that's tossed aside and left discarded for dust to consume before being pulled out and tossed on as if it were their favourite, showing how no matter how long james left for, how many girls he went after (or how many different cardigans he wore), he'd always come back and claim that she was his favourite. unlike james, who placed the blame on his young age, betty says "when you are young, they assume you know nothing, but i knew you" and what he was doing and how despite her age, she had grown and matured and knew what was happening.. in the second verse, she says that he gave her his weekends which showed how unimportant she had been to him around this time as we knew that he was spending the summer with augustine. the whole trilogy just had references left, right and centre.

unlike august, betty and cardigan, which had been confirmed to be connected, illicit affairs is kinda just something that everyone sees as an 'on the side'.. the title itself kinda pointed that out.. 'make sure nobody sees you leave, hood over your head, keep your eyes down', augustine and james would always meet up 'behind the mall' to ensure that no one would see. 'so you leave no trace behind, like you don't even exist', as soon as the summer was over, james had dropped augustine as if she was nothing and no longer existed in his life as he went to fix things with betty. 'look at this idiotic fool that you made me. you taught me a secret language i can't speak with anyone else', her love for him blinded her yet brought this nice feeling for the amount of time that she had that she felt lole an idiotic mess and felt lost, like she'd never get that feeling from anyone else..

If there's one thing you're sure of, it's that Teucer knows how to throw one hell of a tantrum.

Him and his brother, Anthon, under your watch, manage to get into a petty squabble that's been airing for the last fifteen minutes. You've done everything, from offering candy to promising an extra hour on the switch, but your efforts do not bear fruit.

What did you tell Childe again? Oh yeah, that babysitting kids was a breeze. Apparently it's not a breeze. Maybe something more like a shart. A chunky, messy one at that.

"Listen dude," You reason to Anthon, the oldest of the bunch gently. "Where did you hide his toy?"

Anthon sticks a tongue out at you, and you nearly cry at the intensity of the insult. "Not telling."

Your patience runs thin.

"C'mon Anthon," Tonia lectures from her chair on the table like the godsend she is. "Just give him his toy back. You're being so annoying." She's taking the words right out of your mouth.

"Not until he apologizes!" Anthon crosses his arms, huffing. "He ate my cheese string!"

"There are more cheese strings!" You exclaim, opening the fridge to prove your point. "I'm sure Teucer's sorry for taking yours. Just pick another one."

"But it's not the same! He took the last cheddar and mozzarella one, now there are only mozzarella ones left." He speaks in between Teucer's wails. You wonder if this is a daily occurrence.

Tonia sighs, gets up from her chair, and hands the eldest her cheese string. "Just take this and give him his toy back."

Almost immediately, Anthon reaches a hand behind the tv table and pulls out the miniature Mr. Cyclops, then throws it point blank at Teucer's feet.

Teucer wails louder.

You pinch the bridge of your nose, shoulders sagging under the stress of being a temporary teenage mother.

Then you take a deep breathe, voice booming over Teucer's cries, Anthon's grumbling, and the clicking of Tonia's tongue. "Let's make a cake!"

Everything in the room stills. Even Teucer's loud cries comes to a halt, and he inhales so sharply that the streak of snot over his lip goes right back into its origin.

You wince inadvertently.

"Poggers!" Anthon cheers, and his siblings join in, laughing and clapping in excitement.

Tonia's eyes widen in confusion when she briefly pauses from her rally. "Wait a minute. What are we celebrating? We can't bake a cake for no reason! It won't taste nearly as good."

Everyone stops to ponder.

Then you snap your fingers in realization, and the kids huddle around you. "How about a 'get well better' cake for your big brother?"

They erupt in cheers again, but you shush them gently, wink an eye for extra measure. "We have to be quiet! He won't get better if we wake him."

The three nod in understanding and begin shushing each other, failing to conceal their giggles.

As you watch them making their way into the kitchen, bounce in their steps, you can't stop the warm smile that reaches your eyes.

That smile soon becomes a frown of horror when Anthon cracks an egg over Tonia's head.

The cake is not half as bad as you thought it would be initially. Between mixing the ingredients and ceasing the kids minus Tonia from being menaces to society, you were able to find middle ground.

Eventually Anthon found interest in finding ways to lick the batter whenever you turned around, and Teucer found comfort in your left leg, latching onto it as if it were a life line.

Just like how Venti latches onto his stupid little bottle of wine disguised as a water bottle. Seriously, you’ve never talked to him sober, and at this point are afraid of what’s he’s like lucid.

Tonia had been the only one taking things seriously for the most part, except for the sprinkles-to-icing ratio. She drowned the entire cake in sprinkles, the mere sight adding on the ghost of an ache in your teeth.

It looks like twilight sparkles took a fat dump on it.

"Okay besties," You inwardly curse yourself for giving into Gen-Z vocabulary as you brush your hands on the apron. "I think we've done a pretty decent job."

"It looks so pretty!" Tonia grins widely, eyeing the edible pearls she strategically placed. She quickly strikes down a finger Anthon tried to poke into the icing, with the accuracy of a true warrior.

You shudder at the thought of Childe teaching her how to stab someone with safety scissors.

"Can we add candles?" Teucer asks, but Tonia clicks her tongue in distaste.

"It's not a birthday cake." She crosses her arms judgementally. The power in her glare reminds you of La Signora, strangely enough.

You ruffle his copper coloured locks anyways, and his grip on your thigh tightens. "We can add candles if you want Teucer."

He nods his head and snuggles deeper into the side of your leg. Your heart warms up considerably.

After the candles are poked in, you try to shrug him off. "C'mon dude, just for five minutes. You don't want me to drop the cake before your brother can get a bite do you?"

Reluctantly, he obliges, and runs off to help Tonia collect utensils to take up to Childe's room.

Anthon's on door duty, kicking away any toys that serve as obstacles in your way like a professional soccer player.

Once you four make it up the stairs in front of the designated room, Anthon doesn't bother knocking. He barges in like he owns the place, chin up high and a signature smirk on his face that he probably learnt from his older brother.

Childe fumbles awake, kicking the air whilst in shock by the chaotic sound of the door hitting the wall and Teucer screaming "Happy Birthday!" at the top of his miniature sized lungs as he runs in to plop right on top of his older brother.

His bewildered expression soon turns into something of a loving smile as he begins to process what is happening, eyes lighting up despite the deep bags that frame them.

Tonia places the plates on his side table, right next to the empty soup bowl you placed there earlier. She climbs up onto the bed as well to join in on the hug.

Anthon approaches at last, hands in his pockets as he coolly acknowledges his older brother. Instead of a bone-crushing hug like the other two are indulging in, his opts for a fist bump that Childe happily reciprocates.

Then finally, between the shield that are his siblings, his cerulean eyes land on your near the doorway, then trail down to the cake in your oven-mittened hands. He averts his gaze back to your own, and grins so wide his cheeks start to throb.

"Big brother! We made you cake." Teucer moves his head from his chest to face him. "So you can get better."

Childe's laughs ring in your ears, but you don't shy away from the sound. It's a pleasant, something that you wish to hear more of in the near future. Sure enough he laughs a lot at school, but the genuineness of it at home, surrounded by his siblings, stirs something deep within you.

"How thoughtful of you." He ruffles his hair, then his eyes widen as he ushers the two off of him. "You guys can't be near me! I don't want you to fall ill as well."

"But-but how will we feed you the cake without getting close to you?" Tonia frowns, and her two brothers nod in unison.

You chuckle lightly, approaching the bed with the cake in your hands. "I'm sure he has enough strength to feed himself. The hugs and kisses surely must've energized him."

To be honest, Childe's all green in the face and the last thing on his mind would be to indulge in the cake. You understand the feeling all to well. With his nose clogged up, throat all sore, there's no way he'll stomach it. It took a lot of nagging on your part to get him to finish the soup earlier as well.

He blows the candles anyways, clapping along his siblings and letting Tonia drop a fat chunk of the golden cake onto his plate. You find it endearing, regrettably so. His dedication to keeping their dreams is admirable in more ways than you can count.

This is the same guy that wears meme shirts to school, topped off with douchey sunglasses to give him a pristine vibe. The same guy that punches holes in walls like a Kyle. The very boy that flexes his toned biceps in-front of you during lunch time, successfully ruining your appetite.

"Wait a minute..." Childe inspects the cake closely, narrowing in on the candles. "Why is there an eleven?"

Teucer scratches his neck sheepishly. "Those were the only candles we had left."

After another short-lived laugh, Childe manages a bite as everyone stares in expectation, the sound of a tight crunch enveloping the room, making you grimace in secret. If Childe feels like puking out his guts right now, he's doing a hell of a job hiding it from his darling siblings.

You're glad nobody forces you to take a bite, or it would've been a double homicide right then and there.

Soon enough, one by one the children file out of the room, satisfied with their visit. The reality is that they don't want to miss an episode of backyardigans.

Once they leave, you approach him with a napkin. He gets the gist, spitting out the remnants of the cake you slaved over for about two hours.

"Colour me impressed." You snort, moving the cake aside so you can take a seat on the open space next to him. "How're you feeling?"

"Amazing." He exclaims, eyes red like a crackhead's, nose runny, with goosebumps kissing his pale skin. He sure does look...amazing.

"Cool." You say, abruptly getting up. "I'm gonna vibe with the kid—"

His hand shoots out from underneath the blanket, clammy palms wrapping around your wrist to keep you locked in place. You gulp in anticipation.

"You kissed me." Childe reminds you, eyes twinkling in mischief, a vicious grin plastered over his stupidly handsome face.

You try not to choke on your words. "You have circumstantial evidence at most." No attempts are utilized to pull away from him.

He raises a teasing brow, and you give in because the tension is thick. Thicker than the tension between Albedo and Kaeya when the latter shamelessly unzips his front to show more of his biddies. You have no idea why he hasn’t been dress coded yet.

"Fine." You snap out of your impure thoughts, and huff out, frustrated all over. "I kissed you on the cheek."

"Still a kiss though."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes. Also, cute nails." He points out, hand moving down to grasp your fingers. The act is intimate, his caress gentle and caring. Despite his brash, violent personality, he shows you a completely different side to him that hatches butterflies in your stomach.

"Thanks." You show off the bright jewels on your index. "You have a real nail technician in the house."

Tonia has some serious talent.

When he taps one of the jewels, you slap his hand away. "Careful there dude. These cost me a fortune."

His chuckles die down and he smiles again, but this time apologetically. "They didn't trouble you too much did they? I know they can be loud."

"I like loud." You answer him truthfully. "They're fun to be around. Not nearly as chaotic as you."

Childe awakens at the crack ass of night, sweat slick, sticky all over, tousled hair sticking to his forehead. He’s a panting mess, eyes darting around the dark room, inhaling, exhaling, mind in a haze from the fever. Gaining somewhat of a grip on reality, he fumbles around to turn on his lamp, throat parched and in need of water.

When he manages to find the switch, he recoils at the brightness, adjusting to the sudden change in his vision. On his side table, there’s a bologna sandwich tucked safely in plastic wrap, a glass of room temperature water, and a bottle of painkillers.

His eyes disregard most of the things, finding interest in the bright pink sticky note next to the painkillers. Unable to ignore the dryness of his throat and the pounding of his head, he quickly gulps a pill down with most of the water, instantly feeling the relief of hydration.

Then, he pounces on the note, giddiness overtaking him despite the pang in his muscles, and the general feeling of absolute shit.

I had to leave. Don’t worry about your siblings, they’re all tucked in and fine. Except for Anthon maybe. Apparently he’s mildly lactose intolerant and thought it was a good idea to overdose on chocolate milk when I was busy with Teucer. Anyways, get better soon stupid.

He's funny. Most of all he is the FUNNIEST character in that show and has so many of the most memorable moments. He bends reality he's completely off the wall and nobody knows what his deal is. JUST. FUN!!! REALLY FUN! He was my favorite from the beginning but he didn't become a comfort chara until the "Jyushi falls in love" ep. I love that out of everyone, they tackled something so heavy with the silliest character they had. I've written about this a million times so you get the picture! It means a lot to me!

Fruits Basket, SE02, Ep22

I was pleasantly surprised that this was one of the best balanced eps concerning tohru as of yet!! They touched upon her being mom-figure in the first half but proceeded to humanize her afterward, depicting her as normal girl!, frustrated, vulnerable & somewhat silently struggling. I was right in my prediction that the moment yuki lets go of mom-tohru image, the show will too!! I’m happy!! finally, No more angels in the sky. But only real tohru with flaws, ugliness & humanity.

-Yuki’s acceptance of past feelings & change towards new ones:

The show is aware that they’ve been using the fake love-triangle initially but it actually has an explanation within the story. Yuki is attracted to tohru, so much, but it isn’t romantic at all. his attempts in “correcting” how he perceived her didn’t set right with him & he felt weirded out more! The show brilliantly depicted these “flirty scenes” with a hint of uneasiness. Yuki’s lines/ moves felt cringey & artificial “do you like my act, princess”,”I’ll kidnap you”, being encouraged by Aya to compliment tohru as a boy should. The signs are all there except not in your face, & the writer deserves praise!! Yuki, being perceptive, was able to reach such conclusion, not only by looking into himself, but by also at looking how kyo interacted with her, differently from him. Kyo sees tohru as a woman & is attracted to her romantically & altho kyo’s words & interactions with tohru lacks princely smoothness & have a hint of awkwardness, it was natural, genuine & spontaneous. Kyo didn’t put on an act or forced himself to flirt or deliberately chose words to impress tohru. Yuki was able to notice tohru only looked romantically towards kyo. Yuki used all his observations to reach another conclusion abt himself too!!! What he wants in a relationship is sth similar to kyo/tohru!! Mutual & equal relationship. He won’t be satisfied by one-sidedly giving or taking.

-The Author’s brilliance in writing traumatic-based behavior ( Kyo/yuki’s best interaction!! ) :

-an anon cryptically warned me that I’ll be disappointed in kyo this ep cuz of a certain scene with yuki. After watching it, I can tell you without a doubt I’m not disappointed at all!! Rather I’m beyond satisfied that I’ve decided to trust the author. Ms. Takya is genius in depicting traumatic-based behavior! Any other writer, would write the scene less raw, yuki would still shine defeating his inner demos, but kyo would only grunt, or say sth mild. cuz the writer might fear that it might risk showing kyo as the stupid guy behind in his growth compared to the successful yuki ,or annoy the readers/viewers who are so eager for these boys to reach mutual ground. Only a great writer will be brave enough to write kyo as his trauma/ faulty copying mechanism logically dictates!

-We spent an entire season with yuki, saw him yell at kakeru’s insensitive hurtful remarks, cry knowing he was saved cuz a friend risked freeing him, it took a locked dark room, paint fumes, PTSD, tons of monologues before yuki finally let it all out! & you want such brilliant writer to make kyo turn around & be nice to yuki all of a sudden after episodes of fights & no perspective insight? You bet such amazing writer will give kyo’s perspective its time & his development the logical progress he needs. This writer is all abt logical & realistic progression! whether positive or even negative, the characters will come across human, raw, realistic & real during & after their journey.

- Going through kyo/yuki’s dialogue, it will tell you that furuba is NOT abt friendship saving the day, or abt successful growth. It is abt the journey these traumatized children are undergoing now that they are nearly becoming young adults. Yuki’s journey was amazing not cuz he succeeded (as amazingly as this is) but cuz it made sense from his perspective, was realistic, logical, matched his coping mechanism & character traits & it took the needed time. Now for kyo, all his reactions should match his perspective, & make sense giving his coping mechanism. He wasn’t given time yet. so, he won’t grow much yet. “Making a fool of me?” kyo didn’t see yuki’s perspective abt the hat. he thinks yuki did it on purpose to taunt him.That HE saved tohru while kyo fails as always. “Praised by others, needed by them” Kyo like everybody in school, always thought yuki is a prince, loved, & admired. Kyo is not the audience, he didn’t see yuki’s struggle.”surpass me easily while I struggle” kyo may train for years with tears & blood, but the rat will beat him always cuz he is superiors. “an idiot that never gets anything, wants an idiotic impossible thing” “if only I gave birth to the rat, I’d ve been happier” kyo’s mom wished or the impossible. So did kyo. He wished that he’d prove to her that he can be the rat’s equal. She shouldn't have died becuz of him. An impossible wish.

-I personally think that kyo’s journey will take a different path from yuki’s. Unlike yuki, kyo’s been accused & proved to harm others somehow, intentionally or unintentionally. Some not even in this world anymore. So there are things in kyo’s journey that can’t be fixed. Nothing will bring his mom or kyoko back to life. He can’t apologize to them. There is NO forgiveness here as kyoko said!. Hence, the writer will brilliantly make kyo fall so hard & reach rock bottom so bad before he stands up again!! It matches his personality too!! He’s a person who struggles in expressing himself verbally, gets overwhelmed with emotions, stubborn, hard on himself & fiery in nature. Moreover, due to his trauma, he harbors very low self-esteem & due to his guilt, he is drenched in self-loath.

-The addiction of destructive coping mechanism ( Writing Brilliancy):

Kyo has one of the most destructive coping mechanism in the show. Similarly to what his father did by illogically dumping all the blame of the mom’s suicide on 4 year old child, which resulted in hurting kyo, kyo adopted his dad’s ways & dumped it all on yuki. Illogical. wrong. but it works!! it numbs this tingling sense of guilt, it puts the voice that goes “ you’re unforgivable” temporarily to sleep. All the hate is on someone else. not me. I’m not a monster. does it work all the time? NO. cuz NO drug does! All drugs has this temporary effect, that unless you break away from, will end up destroying you. “don’t you want it that way? you wouldn’t want to have anyone to hate?“  I’m still confused if this is kyoko or his mom. It has kyoko’s hair, the words are very harsh. Kyoko from kyo’s perspective shifts between extremely kind & cruelly harsh! but regardless, the truth has been spoken. Kyo’s eyes are opened. He can’t force blind himself anymore. he does NOT hate yuki. he “ acts like hating yuki is sth you needs to do”, as shigure said! hating yuki is his way to escape from his destructive self-loath. He hasn’t been hating or fighting yuki for a long while, he tries now, one more fight, one more dose of the drug, let the pain go away! Nope. Yuki is not participating, yuki is in the light now. You are drenched in the darkness, as unforgivable as you are. Monster eyes & all. Kyo breaks the window to break away from the memory. from this point on, it escalates to rock bottom as the drug is no longer working & hating himself with no escape is all he’s left with.

-Protecting leading to hurting:

yuki brings kyo attention that while he’s been hard on himself & resisting change, he is hurting tohru. Sth kyo chose confinement in oder to NOT do. Kyo being distant from class activities “life” is his choice. Tohru suffering is a consequence to that choice. Kyo, once again, overwhelmed by tohru’s desire to include him in their activities “ life”. Helplessly & painfully looking at her & acknowledging yuki’s words. Kyo in one of his most vulnerable moments, matched only by true form hug scene, is desperate for a hug. Not only cuz he loves her, but cuz he needs her, cuz he’s so tried of himself, cuz she’s so endearingly stupid waiting for him all by herself when she could’ve easily caught him home!! Ugh! tohru! T_T. Except this time, kyo is aware of his surroundings, it’s school, no place for transformation. As kyo decides to change his position from hug to head rest, he stares so intently in her eyes. Embracing her with his presence. For a moment there I felt weird. Like I was intruding on a personal moment between two ppl. XD. This moment was this excellently weird mix of tenderly romantic, bittersweet cuz they cant be together hug, & sexually tensed! one of the most successful kyoru moment that truly depicted emotions visually without needing much dialogue!

Side Notes:

kyo/yuki interaction was their most honest, filter-free & raw moment! each said what he really felt. yuki’s directly telling kyo to complain to him, which kyo did. yuki urging kyo to see that punishing himself hurts tohru.

I appreciate that Yuki won’t tell tohru now, cuz it will ruin their progress towards a better balanced relationship. Tohru’s lid hasn’t even been touched, so she would be cautious interacting with him. But once she opens her lid, her self-worth increase & her desire to focus on herself more is ignited!, she’ll listen to him without taking his burden as hers. just like kakeru did. Equal friends.

I wanted to talk deeper abt machi & yuki, but didn’t want it to be overshadowed by kyo’s analysis. Next time for sure!

I love how the writer included the most spontaneous flirting moment between kyo & tohru right after yuki explained that he saw her non-romantically. The writer wants the comparison to be clear cutting ties to any love-triangle misunderstanding that might linger from previous scenes. Moreover, it showed yuki fully & genuinely accepting kyoru!!

I’ll never be over tohru acting like normal teenager & chasing kyo, trying to catch the script!!!! These small moments while having not much effect on the grand plot, help depict tohru with her own feisty style of stubbornness beyond the one-sided kind image we always see.

This ep has well-written & visually appealing scenes. Visual imagery were well-implemented in kyo/yuki scene & kyo/tohru last scene.

Thank you anime for drawing tohru older, pretty & more mature in the final scene. She looked like a woman in love & silently in pain. My baby is growing!

hey!! i've noticed that you're a fan of the ao3 remakes and i've been thinking about reading some of them. what's your fave thing about each of them? (that you've read of course) have a lovely day!!

oh babe you have MADE my day I would love to talk abt the AO3 remakes 

edit: oh god this has gotten way out of hand. I’m gonna summarize the answer to your actual question at the end of this, so if you would rather skip the dense paragraphs ahead feel free to just scroll down

Skam Boston- this was the first AO3 skam remake I read. Boston is geographically the closest Skam location to where I live (the Northeast Coast), so I especially got to connect with that. I adored Graciela and this girl squad always seemed to connect with me so fluidly, and they all felt really well developed. Iris has really taken the traditional Skam script and put her own spin on it—some of the plot twists really threw me for a loop. The Skam Boston characters are also just incredibly likable- Elias has become one of my favorite Williams, a character who the AO3 remakes have really brought me to love

Skam SF- I have family in the SF area, so once again I was more easily able to connect to the setting of this remake. I loved having a Jewish main in Maya, as I feel like there have been so few, if any, main Jewish characters in Skam. I love the relationships between the characters in Skam SF, and this remake definitely stands out in several moments for me (I still remember the Halloween scene quite vividly). As some shorter points, I love the soundtrack, the inherent relatability of Maya’s life (Me 🤝 Maya = both on Pinterest instead of doing our work) and this girl squad really has my heart. I wish I had more to say but it’s been awhile since I read Skam SF in its entirety lol

Skam Brighton- I found these first four Skam remakes during quarantine, but Skam Brighton especially impacted me because it already had almost four complete seasons for me to consume in my isolation. Isaac did a really great job changing up the traditional Skam storylines to make them more compelling and more inclusive, and in general writing a more accurate and comprehensive portrayal of sexuality, mental illness, racism, addiction, as well as a really interesting view on British teenage life. I also really loved the fact that the majority of the seasons heavily involved theatre—this absolutely decked me with theatre kid feels, and I loved living vicariously through the Skam Brighton squad as a kid who could have been a theatre kid if I wasn’t so self conscious. 

Skam DC- season four of Skam DC is currently airing, so I could write an entire other post just to wax poetic about Safiyya and AJ’s writing. Originally, my dumb ass thought Skam DC would be about a Skam set in the DC comics verse, something I had planned to do but for Marvel (yes, I am Stupid) (don’t even ask me how long it took to realize I was wrong). I loved watching Willa find herself and become so confident. Holly’s season took some traditional s3 elements about discovering your sexuality and once again vindicated our Nooreva dreams, and I also loved the family she found in her foster home. Kai and Jasper’s relationship even prior to s3 had intrigued me so much, and I experienced so many emotions watching them fall in love (the aquarium scene had me weeping). I loved having a black, trans Isak in Kai, rather than yet another cis white boy, and having a combined Even/Jonas created an incredibly complex and compelling dynamic. Safiyya’s season has proved to be just as excellent so far, and we’re finally getting a female Yousef!!! Also the soundtrack slaps so hard

Skam NT- ok so I first “met” Gab as I was reading the AO3 remakes and saw how the same couple of users seemed to be reading all of the remakes. When I finally got to the point where I had to wait for the clips to air, I loved watching to see when he would read them too (is it obvious I had so much free time on my hands during quarantine?). I ended up finding him on Tumblr, and the rest is history... /j. shortly after I followed Gab he introduced Skam NT, which is also set in Britain. Gab has started Skam NT off with season 3, so don’t be concerned if you can’t find s1. The girl squad dynamic is once again immaculate in Skam NT, but you definitely get a lot of the isolation feelings from the Isak season. Charlie (Isak) also has a twin sister, which adds an interesting dynamic to the situation. I loved Lou (Even) so much as well, and really relished having another wlw Evak. One of my favorite things about Skam NT is that it once again does not follow the og Skam script directly, as well as adding in some things that are DEFINITELY original—I am still not over the beach scene y’all.

Skam Colorado- I’m not positive this is actually being aired on AO3, but definitely follow @pianoandcookiedoughlover to catch every update. Like Gab, Skam Colorado is starting off with s3, and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I love that both Ila (Isak) and Eden (Even) are artists, and the art club was an excellent way for the two to meet. So far Skam Colorado has also gone a lot deeper into Ila’s relationship with Parker (Emma), which I’ve found really interesting, considering most remakes only show a couple, shallow interactions between their Isaks and Emmas. This girl and boy squad seem much more interconnected, which has kept their dynamics really interesting.

I’m in the first ten seconds of the fuckin episode. Why the fuck is Braeden electrocuting Isaac? Like, look, I wanna like Braeden. I have issues with her entire moral system, but I still wanna like her cus’ she saves Isaac. But...how am I supposed to do that when the literal first thing she does is electrocute my boy??? He’s knocked out, not DEAD (not that that’s how shocking someone’s heart even Works) and it’s not like she needs to trigger the healing process. He’s already got Gaping slash wounds on his chest. He’s hurt enough. ALSO. “Be quiet”?? R U Serious? You’re electrocuting him. YOU try being quiet with fucking jumper cables on your chest.

The CGI...is so bad. Oh my god. What the absolute fuck. it looks like Sharkboy & Lavagirl. And why aren’t Ethan & Aiden’s claws doing anything to the bike?

I AM CONFUSION. If the twins don’t have to take their pants off to do the Transformers shit, why do they have to take off their shirts? Can...can I just skip that? Make the big bad werewolf wear an ugly hybrid of two of their stupid ass sweaters? Or do Ethan and Aiden really just like being shirtless that much? (I wouldn’t put it past them)

What is with Braeden and the electricity?

The writing in this show, what the fuck? “I thought I told you to hold on” EXCUSE ME, ma’am. He literally just passed out. His bad I guess.

Guess who has to add the anti-scott tag to this now? Anyway, I hate that Allison’s bit in the intro is her kissing Scott and then drawing the bow. Like, they’re broken up. They don’t get together in this season. Why are they kissing in the intro? That had to have Totally pissed off Scallison fans.

The most horrific thing about that moment was the bad CGI.

I WANNA POINT OUT how cute it is (in a like, sad way cus’ she’s terrified) that Lydia is close enough to Stiles now that she immediately goes for his side and they like insta connect with the eye contact. Not in like a Stydia way, but like, they’re close. she trusts him and goes to him when she’s scared, even though he’s human and you’d wonder if she shouldn’t go to Scott instead, since he’s the werewolf.

SCOTT WHY ARE YOU TOUCHING THE DEAD DEER. Your ability to smell chemosignals/sense emotions has nothing to do with touching. Stop poking the dead animal.

Wait, WHY is there a full moon in that shot? The full moon isn’t for like a week! I COUNTED.

...what? Why the fuck does Braeden think Scott’s an Alpha? Why tho? Like, seriously? WHY? He’s not an Alpha yet. Nowhere near it. And if she knows bc Deaton told her (i think he was the one who hired her) then shouldn’t she know he isn’t one yet? Writing 101, getting to know your characters. I don’t know anyone writing a novel who doesn’t know the exact birthday of their characters. Plus, they cut 2 in. from Gage Golightly’s actual height, while adding an inch to Sinqua’s (according to google, which isn’t always reliable) Whatever. Boooooo.

Uh...that principal was threatened by the Argents. Victoria herself promised to torture him if he didn’t resign. Why does he look so surprised by the fucking sword in his office? For that matter, why is he at the school at all? He KNOWS the Argents attacked him. This should cause problems!

Honestly, Lydia, I love you. Like, go for it. Nothing wrong with not wanting to date and just wanting to have fun. My issues stem from YOU BEING 16. Yes, teenagers have sex. But this is ridiculous. Why is there so much sexualization? I knew a grand total of like....two teenagers who had sex at 16? and like one who did at 15 (which they say in canon she and Jackson were banging before her birthday). Like, it’s not nearly as common as y’all are making it out to be. Knock it off.

I know they’re imprisoned and it sucks, but they’ve been there for four months, they had to have gotten bored. Do you think they broke into any of the security deposit boxes to see if anything was left behind?

Last thoughts: They really went for it with this episode. I have plans to change a lot of it. Hopefully I can mesh the changes with the general plotline.
