When you make a movie or limited series to try to reboot a beloved TV show, it should have an ending that leaves the audience feeling good. It should not:

Undo all the progress/growth you leave the characters with at the end of the original show

Brush over questions that clearly should have been dealt with in the interim space but aren’t because the writers haven’t put the time or energy into them

Kill off fan favourites for shock factor

Treat the end of your movie/limited series like a season finale that is expected to continue with cliffhangers

It should be a gift to the fans who stuck it out with you, and who in turn may very well rally around your cause and spark new interest in a reboot. It shouldn’t be a big middle finger to us.

in case anyone was wondering it’s nearly five am and i’ve spent all night reading fucking icarly fanfic as if it’s not 2023 so like that’s where IM at today

My biggest red flag is that when I know a tv show/movie is not going to have a happy ending or just not the ending I want I just stop watching it, usually an episode or two/ 15-20mins before it’s over. My strategy for tv shows like this is watching majority of the show, stopping like 1/2 episodes before it’s over, and then coming back months later when I feel really distant from it and only watching the episodes I didn’t see so I can handle it emotionally lol it took me a year to finish Normal People, straight up don’t think I can finish Twenty One Twenty Five, the list goes on really…

I was rewatching Criminal Minds for the thousandth time and saw Jeff Davis credited as the creator. And I was like, no, there is no way that it's the Jeff Davis. Not the man who completely butchered Teen Wolf.

And it was!

Which actually makes a lot of sense, because the man doesn't know how to write a queer character to save his life, and instead just chooses to queerbait. Which he did on both shows.

Inside the station, a honey-eyed waif with a shorn head and a long pale throat is clicking away at a pen and swinging his chair back and forth behind the receptionist desk. Derek plasters on his most charming grin and leans up against it, bracing a hand in front of the guy and sliding his sunglasses down to give him a once-over.

The guy blinks up at him and flushes. His mouth falls open a little and Derek clears his throat around the way he kind of wants to press his thumb to it.

“Hey,” Derek says, still grinning. “I’m here for my sister?”

So I know there’s a lot of talk about the Geralt/Jaskier dynamic being reminiscent of Shrek/donkey, and like…They’re not wrong. BUT there is a much more accurate and obvious comparison that we simply do not talk about enough.

To review:

Character A:

-Obvious ADHD

-the sunshine/comic relief character

-hides any actual feelings behind charm and sarcasm

-constantly changing hair

-only Regular Human in the middle of a bunch of magical nonsense

-is immediately physically threatened by Character B. It does nothing to deter him.

-has an almost spiritual connection to a particular item that was gifted to him. This item becomes iconically associated with him.

-smarter than most people give him credit for

-makes it his life’s mission to help a group of “wolves”

Character B:

-grumpy and withdrawn

-hides his emotions with growls and monosyllabic sentences

-is deeply traumatized but would never admit it

-powerful psuedo-magical being

-most people that meet him assume he’s the Bad Guy but in actuality he’s one of the only good guys

-his home and most of his family were destroyed by non-magic people that feared and hated “his kind”

-uses his extreme physical strength and small amount of magic to protect regular people from supernatural threats

-magically yellow eyes

-only wears black leather

-is a “wolf”

I’m so sorry to have to report this to everyone, but Geralt/Jaskier is just a reboot of this

We’ve just reinvented Sterek.
