42 | Sickness

At the moment Stiles, Julia, and Lydia were on their way to the station to let Parish know he's on the list. When they get there he tells them they can wait for Noah in his office so they say they want to speak to him.

In private they show him the list and he goes over it saying he had looked up all the names and got nothing on them so Lydia shows him the last name one the list which was his.

"What's the number?"

"That's how much you're worth." Julia answers him.

"I'm worth 5 dollars!?"

"Five million." Stiles corrects him.

"I only make 40,000 a year." He looks at the list, "Maybe I should kill myself." He says before asking why he's on there.

"Honestly, that might be a question for another day. Right now, there's still another third of the list we gotta crack." Stiles tells him so Lydia says they need to talk to Meredith to help them.

He ends up agreeing to help them talk to Meredith so they all go to talk to her in hopes she can help again. "Oh come on." Julia groans seeing Brunski making Stiles groans too.

"What the hell are we running here?" He walks over to them taking the keys from the other guy. He tells Parrish he can talk to her all he wants but the other three can't. Parrish says they are crucial witnesses. Brunski demands he return with a court order.

He then turns to Stiles and says his father needs to pay his bill since it is overdue. He cracks wise about public jobs not being as reliable as they once were. Parrish points out public jobs are useful when you need a favor like last month when Canaan PD helped you get home after blowing a 0.1 on a Breathalyzer. Brunski relents before they enter Meredith's room.

Meredith says she can't tell them the third cypher key because things have changed. She says The Benefactor doesn't want her to tell them.

"What's his name? You could just tell us his name." Lydia stand up pacing the room as Meredith shakes her head.

"Okay, you're shaking your head. What's that mean?" Stiles asks, "Does that mean you don't know? Or you don't want to help us?"

Meredith says she can't help anymore making Lydia ask more questions as Meredith shakes her head frantically, "Lydia, stop being so pushy." Julia speaks up but she kept pushing. "Lydia, stop it." Julia stands up as Meredith starts to shake her head more. "Meredith it's okay. You're gonna be all right." Julia moves closer to her bending down.

After repeating she doesn't know, Meredith then yells it causes Julia and Lydia to move backwards. Julia fell backwards so Stiles helps her stand up seeing that her ears were bleeding then looks at Lydia to see the same.

Once they leave, the three end up going to Stiles house trying to figure out the remaining cypher key. They kept thinking maybe it would be another dead person's name but they've tried all the dead they could think of and nothing worked.

Lydia is worried that she's driven the only other Banshee they've ever met over the edge. Stiles tells her it's not her fault, that he and Julia were there too. This exchange gets him thinking about banshees and how they know when someone is going to die. He suggests that the third cypher key may be the name of someone who's not dead yet but will be.

Lydia looks at him trying to think about it as Julia closes her eyes and concentrates before having a name come to her. She gets off of Stiles bed walking over to Lydia with the laptop before typing out the name.

The key works and the rest of the list is revealed and they see Meredith's name on the list, so Lydia says they need to call Parrish. He ends up telling Lydia that Meredith took her own life right after they left her earlier in the night.

As Lydia stands there in slight shock, Stiles looks as Julia still looking at the list, "What was the name?" He asks not seeing what she typed.

"Derek." She sits down and at the same time Lydia leave the room to go splash her face with water in the bathroom.

Stiles walks over to Julia staring at the computer screen so he bends down next to her, "You okay?"

"Honestly no." She shakes her head, "Meredith killed herself and Lydia feels responsible. Derek is apparently going to die. Isaac is M.I.A but told me not to worry about him which only makes me worry more." She looks at him, "I hate that we can't save everyone."

"We can try to save a much as we can." He tells her, "And as for Isaac, I'm sure he okay. I hate how he's making you worry about him at a time like this. If he's gonna disappear he should've waited."

"I just hope he has a good reason..." Julia rolls her eyes.

"I don't understand why leave you and not give a lot of details. Especially if you guys are like kinda together now."

Julia laughs a bit, "Is that what you think? Isaac and I are together now?"

"It seems like it and Malia said you guys got together so I assumed." He lets her know.

"Yeah, we got together but I don't know."

"Don't want there to be something?" He asks watching her mess with her fingers.

"Again, I don't know 100%. Do I want to be in a relationship in general? Yes and no. I just wanna be with someone who really cares about me the way I care about them. Someone I can rely on that will always be there for me. Is that Isaac? Who knows? He's not even here. I have no idea where he is."

"Well, I know he cares about you because he hates me." He says making her laugh.

"He doesn't hate you. He feels like you with Derek at times in the past." She tells him.

"I don't care how he feels about me. But he'll come back around and if not he's stupid to lose you. Trust me, I know." He nudges her leg slightly so she embraces him in a hug thanking him.

"Where's Lydia and Julia?" Kira asks the group as they stand in line at school for their PSATs.

"They took it their freshman year." Stiles tells her.

"Does that mean I could have taken it some other time?" Malia asks.

Scott says she studied harder than any of them and adds that while they're trying not to die, they still need to live. He says if he survives high school he would like to go to college. Then Kira points out that the test only takes three hours to complete and they can survive three hours.

While they take their test Scott seems to know the answers and is quickly filling in the bubbles on his answer sheet. Stiles seems surprised by one of the questions while Malia seems stumped by the whole process. At the same time Sydney sitting over one row and behind Stiles collapses to the floor.

Mrs. Martin notices a pattern of red and white welts on Sydney's arm. Natalie says everything is fine and Sydney sits back down to resume the test but then Mrs. Martin takes her phone and orders that no one should leave the room.

Agents with the CDC, dressed head to toe in yellow bio-hazard suits, enter the school. They proceed to set up a quarantine area in one of the larger classrooms. They have two rows of beds. Each is covered by a clear plastic tent. The outside of the school is also covered in clear plastic.

Sheriff Stilinski arrives outside the school. Bio-suited men and women are rushing back and forth. He asks one CDC worker for an update. She says the incident is a hopefully a false alarm but that the details provided have concerned the CDC and local health authorities enough to order a quarantine. He tells her that his son is in the school which he says won't be a conflict but is stressful.

Noah ends up texting Julia, who was at home trying to get Isaac on the phone but he would only send basic texts to her. Hearing the news from Noah, she leaves her house getting worried because the grip was there but also her mom was too.

"Noah, what's going on?" She rushes over to him.

"They won't exactly say what it is but they are isolating them. Some are sick inside." He tells her.

"And this randomly happened?" She asks so he nods his head, "Noah, what if it wasn't just an accident? Remember the list? Three people in there are on that list." She tells him.

At the same time inside the group was trying h to figure out what was going on. Malia tunes her enhanced hearing on the workers outside the school. She tells Stiles they seem to be taking it very seriously and that his dad is there with Julia. Stiles says he should call him and reaches for his phone but The Chemist says the phone won't work because CDC shut down all communications around the school to avoid a public panic.

Stiles walks over to the window looking out to see Julia and his dad talking looking concerned about what was going on.

Not much later, Sheriff Stilinski and Agent McCall question the CDC worker about the situation. But she smarts off at them that since both their sons are inside, they can debrief each other. McCall also heard that it was smallpox so Noah tells him what Julia brought up about another assassin at work.

Scott's eyes were still flashing back and forth from normal to red. Malia's claws won't retract. Mr. Yukimura says the virus is affecting them in a way it won't hit humans. Stiles says they have to stay out of site but they have trouble deciding a spot in the school that will hold them. They think maybe the basement but Scott says there are too many ways out. Stiles suggests they use the vault. They decide that the Hales would have an escape route somewhere inside the school.

Using a set of blueprints of the school, they figure out where the vault must be in relation to the rest of the school. Mr. Yukimura suggests it would probably be accessible from the basement. Stiles collapses. He has developed signs of infection on his hand. Mr. Yukimura says they're all getting sick. Kira says she doesn't feel sick but he says it is affecting her neurologically. He shows her the answer sheet from the test and it looks like she tried to fill in the bubbles but kept missing them. Her marks are all over the page.

Later at night while they were all in the vault, Lydia shows up at the school and Noah lets her over with him and Julia.

"What's happening?" She asks them so Noah says they're working on it.

"Another assassin so mom is okay but the others not so much." Julia tells her.

As the two sisters wait alone watching everything, Noah walks over asking if they had anything feeling about what was going on. They both tell him they know someone was going to die tonight and they were certain about that feeling.

At the moment, Stiles was looking for Mr. Yukimura in the CDC's triage area. He spots coach and realizes that he is the only adult to become infected. Stiles tears through coach's office looking for something that might have caused him to become ill. He finds nothing but does notice a stack of Permission Slip/Liability Release Forms. The top few are stamped with "APPROVED" in red but midway through, the color becomes fainter and fainter until coach changed to black ink.

Stiles notices black ink fingerprints on a coffee mug and remembers how each student had to ink their thumbs before taking the PSAT. He realizes that the ink pad was the source of the outbreak just as "The Chemist" steps into the room with a hand gun.

The Chemist walks Stiles into the locker room and explains that the virus doesn't kill humans. He demands to know where Scott and the rest are hiding. He says he'll kill Stiles if he doesn't tell. Stiles closes his eyes as the assassin places the barrel of the gun to his forehead and begins his countdown. When he gets to 2 there is a gunshot and blood sprays all over Stiles' face.

A small hole has appeared in the middle of The Chemist's forehead. He falls to the floor. A hazmat suited figure walks through the door. It is Scott's dad. Rafe McCall explains that he got a call from Melissa. He says he doesn't know what it means but she said there is an antidote, reishi mushrooms, in a jar on one of the shelves inside the vault. So Stiles rushes to tell Scott.

When everyone started to feel better, Noah and sheriff the girls enter the school. They rush to her mother who says she was just trying to get a little overtime making them laugh.
