It’s not exclusively an American system. I’m not American and it would be the same here. But thanks, I think.

I'm not even through season 2 yet and I'm already fed up with people (eg. Deaton) expecting Derek to be a great Alpha right from the start.

That's like having this guy in a family owned company.

He was never supposed to take over the business and that was fine with him. He'd rather stay on the technical side of things instead of handling all that management and HR stuff.

But then something bad happens and he is the only one left. He never wanted to be CEO but if he doesn't take over, this company that has been his family's everything would be lost.

He needs more personnel but people don't want him to hire the staff he thinks fit his vision, but expect him to work with this one person who'd rather go to his biggest competitor. Although the competitor made it very clear that the person is not welcome and will never be.

Additionally this competitor does everything to destroy all that is left of the company.

Instead of support, what he hears from former business partners is that everything was so much better with the former CEO, who probably had the right education, proper training and an established staff. But hey, new CEO, why aren't you as good?

That doesn't even take into account the trauma and grief surounding everything that happened to Derek's family.

And then others are surprised he is not a people person.

So Deaton promised Derek’s mother he would look out for Derek. Considering the last one and a half seasons, I don’t think he did a very good job of it.

How about he had early on told Scott very clearly (slow and using simple words) to get over himself and form a pack with Derek.

Because he’s his boss and mentor, Scott actually might have listened to Deaton.

As a huge sucker for a Spike&Oz friendship, thank you for the mental image of Derek joining Spike and Oz for a drink at the pub. I didn't know I needed that. But now this is my new crossover head canon.

I wonder:

Is the first thing he does when the sould goes pfffff, hit a mall (to steal of course, because he's EVIL!)?

Or:

Does he keep that stuff somewhere in the back of his closet?

Like that one dress I have in my wardrobe that doesn’t fit anymore (and probably never will again) but every time I see it, I think longingly maybe one day…

It was so real from Danny that he didn’t give up Jackson’s video for a life-or-death situation but to get back his fake ID. Always good to have one’s priorities straight. 😅

Will it be a running gag that Stiles misses his chance at actually playing in a lacrosse game because he was helping/saving Derek?

In S1-E09 Stiles was first line but rather drove around town to help Derek.

In S2-E04, Coach was looking for Stiles to fill in before picking Boyd out of the crowd. Meanwhile Stiles is treating water to keep a paralyzed Derek afloat.

Can I expect more of this in the coming seasons?
