GUYS I sort of might have maybe kinda came out to one of the most closest of my people(angel if you know her ) And AHHHHHH because because because i was so jumpy and excited today, i wanted to tell her about this from so long and i told her about it and I told her about her✨️ too and you know what she said, she said, "even I can feel the butterflies from here" and DO YOU KNOW WHAT I SAID, I said

i just said it. out of like nowhere. and she stared at me for a second and then smiled again and said "that's even better, I suppose"

She of course told me to be careful and not end up getting heartbroken unintentionally, but she was so happy and also that I am sure about myself, and she was glad. I WAS LITERALLY JUMPING IN AND OUT. I am so happy like i couldn't stop smiling. She did ask me to tell her more about her, but I just couldn't- I said I'll tell her later, suspense and also anticipation 💌✨️

Gender and sexuality and how they can change over time can be such a funny thing so I had one friend as a kid who at the time had just came out as lesbian (tho now I think they may be transmasc of some sort ot another but I’m not 100% sure so I’m just using they/them) and I was at the time sorta trying to very awkwardly perform straight male identity^tm and like faking stuff I just wasn’t really actually experiencing to feel normal but I was also like not an asshole about gay people. So anywyas they had said soemthing when where hanging out at Barnes & noble and we where looking through calendars and there was one with some scantily clad women on it and this friend was Liek “oh I like that one…don’t judge I have needs you know!!!” And I to both try to I guess show support and also do the middle school performance of “yeah I’m totally doing the normal teenage boy things” was like “nah I get you it’s rhe same here ” even tho it WASN’T at the time like that at all a thing I was actually personally experiencing. Which feels also like an odd story cause now I DO have my own experiences of attraction and aesthic appreciation of women (albeit still probably not quite the same way due to the idiosyncrasies of my aspec stuff) that I could probably connect with more authentically.

I kinda wonder what happened to this person they where pretty cool and talked about like marvel stuff with me in elementary/early middle school we kinda lost contact and I don’t really have a way of getting back in touch r but I wish I did I kinda just in general have fond memories of hanging out as kids and kinda wonder how we might be able to relate now espically if them being trans in some way like I vaugely heard is true…

Heh this was just gonna be a funny story about childhood that’s even funnier with how the people involved’s identity’s changed over time but I I geninuely miss my old friend now….

I Remeber they were into My Chemical Romance and knew all about Umbrella Academy WAY before the Netflix show….they liked the teen titans cartoon and identified with Raven at the time (tho there’s a strong possibility this part may have changed) I hung out at their house and we watched like the 2000s X Men and Elektra movies and also scary movie I’m pretty sure, before they came out as lesbian out parents would tease us about “liking each other” but we where really just friends and it was just needlessly awkward.

At that bookstore some weirdo evangelicals tried to prostiyze to us and I was trying to comfort them after the fact and we ended up laughing at the whole concept.

We had a pretty cool music teacher we both liked allot in our small private K-8 cause liked all the DC Marvel stuff like we did (and in their case I think they knew more about like actual music stuff too lol)

I know this is a long shot I don’t even know if they’re ON tumblr but I’m gonna tag a bunch of relevant terms and see if they’re out there. Maybe it’s the aspec in me but I think it should be normalized to not be super into dating and romance in high school, while still being allowed to be allo and/or straight? Like just because you’re not prioritizing dating people doesn’t mean that you’re automatically gay and/or aspec (as many people like to assume). Like this applies to both real people and fictional characters.

Like I get that you mean well, but why is it that if a specific character doesn’t want to be forced to marry by the time she’s 18, the only possible explanation is that she’s gay? (She’s pan but that’s NOT THE POINT.) Let teens be teens, and that includes not being head over heels into romance 100% of the time if that’s not their thing.

Really, I think normalizing not being too into romance no matter what your sexuality / sexual orientation is will help all of us, whether you’re allo or aspec. Everyone’s brain is different, everyone’s experience with romance and sexuality is different, some people are ready for things at certain ages while others take longer to be ready, and some will never end up wanting it at all. PLEASE normalize humans being humans instead of being stereotypes of humans!!

The whole Asari thing in Mass Effect where they canonically do not reproduce amongst themselves and to do so is a whole taboo has always been super uncomfortable to me as a lesbian and felt incredibly homophobic. Like wow, you're telling me this species, which you have coded as female/female-like (which you have only done to be able to sexualize them) find it icky to reproduce with those of their same kind? That they're not enough by themselves and need something else for better offspring? That something else being other species in general but it's specially pointed that since the Asari were coded as "sexy alien women" that they lack "men", while other species do have them, and that they need those outside influences? Wow! Groundbreaking!

Idk, it was uncomfortable as a teen lesbian to play that for the first time to learn that this super cool species where everyone is the same and female-coded, and therefore inherently sapphic (in a manner of speaking) and inherently queer thinks it's icky and weird to reproduce/partner amongst themselves because they're not enough and need something else to do it properly. Like I wonder where I've heard that before, not from anyone telling me lesbian sexuality is lacking in some way and that women are incomplete if they don't partner with men, for sure.

Of course the Asari do not have a gender in the way we understand it, but back in 2007, to the devs, their gender was "blue alien sexy women". They were specifically created to be sexy, they just then were smart enough to give them some more lore other than that and to rectify those ideas a bit more. But it is not a coincidence that Asari are as sexualized as they are in the games.

And it doesn't even make much sense. How long was it in canon since the Asari made first contact? 2000 thousand years? That's what? Three to four Asari generations? I understand of course that they'd be curious and find it awesome that they can reproduce with aliens as well, but to the point where it becomes a taboo to partner with another Asari? A taboo so great that people who do it are ashamed to speak of it? And specifically because that makes them/their unions lacking in some way? (Hint: that's what homophobe say about lesbians and sapphic women) Sorry, there's some subtle homophobia there. I don't think the devs necessarily intended it, but it's there. And they didn't even need to put it there. They could have just said that the Asari reproduce both amongst themselves and other people, no judgement made on it.

This extra thing didn't need to be there. I know the in-game explanation about genetic diversity, but come on, there's outside real life influences too.
