Request: hi! could you write something where jason takes her to a football game along with the ted lasso fam and it’s her first time in a stadium and there were some pictures & videos of jason and her being very pda/being so in love and everyone on social media is freaking out cs they’ve never seen Jason be so affectionate in awhile. im so sorry this is long but i hope it makes senseee!! i love all your fanfics thank you smmm 🫶🏼

Description: Attending a soccer game with Jason and the Ted Lasso crew, the two of you announce your relationship to the world. The announcement is easy when Jason struggles to keep his hands to himself.

Warning: age gap (about 15 years), mentions of baby fever

Pairing: JRU (Jason x reader universe), Jason Sudeikis x reader

Word Count: 2.2k words

A/N: The next part of the Jason x reader universe, or the JRU as I'm calling it. I hope that I'm not making these requests just for me and that you all actually enjoy them haha

Jason paced the space in front of your shared bed as you softly chuckled at him, trying to push aside your thoughts of how hot he looked while pushing his hair back anxiously, “Y/N, you don’t have to do this.” You kick your feet as they hang over the edge of the bed from your seated position, nodding as you send a small smile his way, though he doesn’t see it, “Yeah, I know I don’t have to do this Jas, I want to.” 

You stand up and close the space between the two of you, grabbing his hand and tugging him to look at you, “Jason, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, you know that, right?” Your boyfriend’s eyes soften as his gaze finally meets yours, “What, why wouldn’t I want to do this? This has no real changes for me in public, just you.” You cock your eyebrow up at him, hoping some light-hearted teasing will calm him, “Oh really? You’re ready for the tabloids to call you a cradle robber?” 

The man groans and defeatedly puts his forehead on your shoulder as you wrap your arms around his waist, “Would you stop that? 15 years is not ‘robbing the cradle’.” You smile and giggle softly, moving your arms so that you can run your fingers through the hair on the base of his neck, “No, it's not. You’re perfect baby. And we’re perfect. I know I don’t have to do this, I know we don’t have to go public, but I want to.” Jason pulls away slightly to look at you, about to argue against you, though you know it's out of protection, but you continue before he can interrupt. 

“I’m tired of having to hear about vacation adventures with you and the kids, I want to be there with you. And I hate not getting to be there with you on your big nights. I want to be there when you win an Emmy for your last season, I want to cheer for you from the crowd, not our bedroom. I want this, it’s time, okay?” Jason blinks slowly before pulling you into a deep kiss, holding your face to his with his hand on the back of your head. He pulls away just enough to speak softly, his lips bumping against yours as he talks, “How the hell did I get so lucky with you?”

You smile brightly at him before pulling him in for a peck only to then push him away, “We both are lucky. Now hurry up, we’re gonna be late and I don’t need them thinking it’s because we were fucking.” Jason laughs loudly before walking to the dresser, grabbing his red pens and putting on his watch, “I believe the correct word here is shagging, honey.” You roll your eyes at him through the mirror as you adjust your hair once more, “Are you fucking ridiculous? This isn’t Austin Powers, they would say fucking.” 

Jason sits on the edge of the bed to put on his Jordans, watching as you send a text to Hannah with your ETA, “Ya know, we could run even more late and make their suspicions true.” You look up to see Jason wiggling his eyebrows at you before you flip him off, eliciting a deep laugh from him, “Shut up or I’m changing my shirt.” He throws his hands up in surrender, heading out of your room with a smile on his face as he thinks about introducing you to the world with his name printed on your back.

When the series wrap party had been settling down, the cast and crew presented Jason with a wrapped gift which was met with protests from their boss, exclamations of “I told y’all not to do anything.” You stood with Juno as he unwrapped the present, trying to keep your distance from him just in case any assistants decided to risk their NDAs by taking pictures of the evening. Jason raised the jersey out of the box, simply happy with the gesture, though you let out a small “aww” when seeing the back of the kit. The man looked up with a confused expression on his face, the room gesturing for him to turn the shirt around, a bright smile breaking out on his face. Rather than ‘LASSO’ being printed on the shirt, the two large zeroes for the coach’s number instead sat under ‘SUDEIKIS’. You could see the tears welling in his eyes when taking in the gift, though he quickly cleared his throat and pushed them away, thanking the room before encouraging them to continue the celebrations. 

Only having received that gift three days ago, you were sure that he would wear his new kit for the match between Chelsea and Milan. He instead opted to wear a Kansas tee and his England puffer, inspiring you to wear your USWNT jersey over your long-sleeve shirt, if he was going to wear a jacket for a different team, you could do that too. Before you could put on the American jersey though, Jason sheepishly asked if you wanted to borrow one of his shirts instead. You nod, though you are confused as to why he seemed to be nervous about asking, you loved wearing his clothes, after over two years together you never said no, why was he acting weird? You quickly realized why as he pulled the hanger out of your closet, a soft smile appearing across your face at the blue jersey. He was introducing you to the world as his partner in life, and he wanted to do that with you wearing his name as your own. How could you ever say no to that? 

As the two of you headed out the door hand in hand, you can’t help but giggle to yourself at the interaction from an hour ago while getting ready. This man was such a romantic, yet he tries to play It off as though it’s nothing. You glance at Jason as he waves to the suburban approaching with your group of friends, smiling at how lucky you are to have him as your own.

You sat in your stadium chair as Jason, Brett, Hannah, Juno, and Brendan took a photo with a fan. Your group had arrived at your seats barely five minutes ago and none of the others had an opportunity to sit down yet, greeting watchers of the show with bright smiles and offers to take pictures. As the last fan, a young boy and his mom, headed to their seats just a couple of sections over, the crew finally had a chance to sit down and relax, Juno on one side of you and Jason on the other. The guys begin to discuss the match as Hannah updates Juno and you on what her daughter was most recently up to, only furthering the baby fever that you and Jason had recently been experiencing.

Laughing at something Juno said, you turn to Jason in surprise after he places his hand on your thigh. The man remains deep in conversation with his friends though he must sense your attention placed on him, glancing at you before fulling turning his body towards you when he sees your concerned face, “You okay, honey? You’re not regretting this, are you?” You quickly shake your head, you’re not regretting this at all, you’re finally out in the world with your boyfriend like a normal human, “No, I’m really happy we’re doing this, just, I didn’t think you would want to…ya know…” 

You gesture to his hand on your thigh which causes him to laugh loudly, “Baby, you should know by now that I don’t like keeping my hands off of my girl.” Blushing deeply, you whip your head around to make sure none of your friends heard his comment, though this only makes Jason laugh more and move his hand higher up your thigh. Seeing that no one heard, or at least is not acting as though they did, you turn back to face Jason and his evil smirk, “No, I know that you fucker, I just didn’t think you’d want to do that in public.” He chuckles at what you call him though he leans in closer when sensing some of your worries, “Honey, I have not had a single doubt about being seen with you since the moment I met you. Yes, we waited a couple of years to go public, but none of that was because of being ashamed of you. We are here, we are together, and if we are finally together in public, I want to be together completely. So I am going to be insufferable and always be touching you in some way, just like when we’re with friends or our kids, okay?”

You nod happily, leaning in to give him a small peck though he quickly takes control, deepening the kiss with a bite to your lower lip. You chuckle into the kiss before hearing the teasing groans of your friends, “Fucking hell, we should have never supported them going public.” You pull away with a laugh, looking over at the exaggerated eye rolls of your group which are met with Jason flipping them off, “All of you can fuck off, okay? I can finally show the world who the love of my life is. You’re lucky I’ve kept it in my pants this long.” The group lets out a mixture of laugh and expletives under their breaths, “My God, Jason.” 

You pop up with excitement, looking around at your older peers who all look at you confused at the sudden burst of energy, “Oh! Speaking of not keeping it in your pants, friends from over here, would you ever say shagging over fucking?” Juno lets out a scoff, as Hannah, through laughs, supports your side of the argument, “Jesus, no.” You look to Jason with a pleased expression, “See? The resident experts say no.” Brett looks at Jason with joking disgust, “You thought we would say shagging? This isn’t the fucking Christmas Carol, Jason.” You nod along while pointing at Brett to emphasize what he’s saying, “Exactly, and if it was, it’d be the muppet Christmas Carol.” Brett leans past Brendan and Jason to give you a fist bump, “Damn straight, Y/N.”

Jason throws his head back as he groans in frustration, “Oh my God, I should have never introduced you.” The group laughs as the stadium erupts in cheers, all of you looking up to see the stadium screen is showing different celebrities at the game. Everyone relaxes into their seats, all of you resuming your conversations from before as Jason moves his arm to wrap it around your shoulder, pulling you into his side. The stadium erupts in cheers again, the people behind you seeming to be extra loud and excited, which makes sense when you look up and see your group on the screen with the caption “The cast of Ted Lasso”. The five of them all wave in the direction of the camera as you just look back and forth between the people on either side of you, a proud smile on your face. 

You catch Jason’s gaze out of the corner of his eyes, your smile seeming to grow even more. He turns his full attention back to the camera and you can’t help to appreciate his side profile, the gray of his beard making itself known at the base of his scruff and his temples showing a little color too. From under the collar of his shirt and puffer, you spot a mark that you left the night before, bringing a blush to your cheeks. 

As the camera turns to another celebrity guest, Jason turns to you, a loving look in his eyes as the two of you make eye contact. He places his free hand on your cheek, “I love you baby, so much.” You lean forward, close to his lips, “I love you too, bubs, more than you know.” The two of you meet in the middle, sharing a sweet kiss that Jason tries to turn hotter before the stadium erupts in cheers again. You don’t move apart but then those around you begin to whistle, causing Jason to remove his hand from your cheek before you pull away only to see that the screen is once again showing your group. Or really, showing you and Jason casually having a make-out before the game begins.

Your face turns a deep red as you turn to bury your face into Jason’s neck, trying to hide from the attention of the stadium. Sure, you were ready to be placed in the public eye by going public with Jason, but you definitely did not expect that to happen with a photo of you two passionately kissing while with your friends. Jason places a kiss on the top of your head, waving to the camera once more and giving the crowd, and really the world, a thumbs up. You stay tucked into Jason’s side but pull your head back, now once again face to face with Jason.

Everyone in the stadium cheers loudly and stands up as the players file onto the field, everyone but you and Jason. The both of you chuckle, Jason leaning forward to kiss the tip of your nose and eliciting a small giggle from you. He smiles brightly at you, taking one of your hands into his, “How’s that for an introduction, huh?”

“I’m so fucking tired of feeling sad,” Jamie sniffles, “I feel like all I’ve done all week is cry.” “Alright, then, maybe we could shift into something a little more fun, eh?” Keeley suggests. Roy's own curiosity is peaked. “What were you thinking,” Jamie asks, his own interest dialed into Keeley. “I was kinda thinking this,” she leans forward before connecting her lips with Jamie’s. Jamie’s mood shifts instantly and visibly. His hands raise up to hold either side of her shoulders, almost hesitant to move any closer until she, and Roy, give the okay.  It's the first time they've kissed each other since they broke up and in moments it's obvious Keeley wants to make up for lost time. Roy thought he’d be jealous, watching this happen right in front of him, but instead, he’s just really fucking turned on.  Keeley’s the first to break the kiss but it’s only to tell Jamie,  “Show Roy how worked up you are, yeah?” Jamie whimpers pleasantly against her lips, nodding but still hiding his face behind his own hair.

i’m having sort of a hard time with this season of ted lasso specifically AS the last season. if this was just a new season and we could anticipate a fourth season after it that would feel more ‘this is the end!’, i’d be fine and have more patience, but the countdown clock of “oh god, there are only this many episodes left and i don’t get why we’re doing all this” is really making me melancholy. the thing that makes me the absolute saddest is roy and keeley being parted in a way where it’s becoming increasingly clear that we won’t get to see them chill and happy together as a couple again because there just isn’t time (esp. with jamie seeming to potentially be in the mix for her romantically again). but i feel weird and sad about so many things. there are some shows where the final season has really felt like a final season to me in a really emotionally resonant way, and i gotta say, so far this season isn’t doing that for me at all. (and i kinda expected better from this show since its whole thing is feelings and they’ve had the whole story plotted out from the beginning!!) it really feels like another mid-series season to me instead of THE END.

this is just how i feel about it personally, so obviously other people are watching and having a totally different experience. and i don’t even know how to fully articulate what my problem is. but something about the pacing this season and what the show chooses to focus on has just got me feeling so WEIRD and at sea!

He blinked. “Er, I did me best, yeah. Could’ve done better, obviously. We lost.” And they should’ve won, was the thing. Jamie knew the boys were good enough, the end to their last season had already proved that. They just needed a few more weeks of fine-tuning. Still, the disappointment of it continued to sting.  James nodded with narrowed eyes, and Jamie braced himself for the inevitable onslaught. But then Dad said, “Well, they’ll be other chances. Only a friendly, eh? I wanted to watch it live on telly, you know, but I had more of that therapy business. So I’ve had to settle for the recaps and writeups. You looked good out there, son.”  Jamie shuffled a little bit further into the room, feeling uncomfortable. He wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that. It wasn’t the first time his dad had complimented Jamie’s skills on the pitch, but there was almost always a caveat along with any praise. Something he needed to be doing better, because whatever he was doing was obviously not good enough. But James just stared at him expectantly, so eventually Jamie murmured, “Thanks,” embarrassment at waiting so long pooling heavy in his stomach.

my hot take is that i think Isaac should have a homophobia issue actually. he should have a bias that he has to think about and overcome. i don’t want the narrative to be “it’s silly for queer people to be hesitant or afraid of coming out to their friends” because that’s condescending and inaccurate. sometimes you lose friends for it! i don’t want that to happen, but the likelihood of a straight man who’s been in professional male athletics for years having some homophobic tendencies he needs to address is very high! just like some of them had to address their misogynistic tendencies in the latest episode! it is not bad writing for that to be shown!

So in case it comes up.. there was some drama with some other fandoms regarding GLAAD today on Twitter. The TLDR; version is, some tweets went out regarding how disappointed we were about Ted Lasso winning out over Our Flag Means Death for Outstanding Comedy Series. Somehow, Yellowjackets fandom, who won a different category Outstanding Drama Series somehow got the idea that OFMD fans were complaining about Yellowjackets winning. It was corrected multiple times by multiple people but they kept coming. So yeah, twitter being twitter, not a great time. Sending love to @koneko_army and any other crewmates who had to deal with it.
