Hm... hmmmm...... I had a thought about a moment when Aventurine could have fallen in love with Ratio (not that he lets himself realize it lol) but now that it's been sitting in my brain for a while I'm having second thoughts. The initial idea was going to be very dramatic, somewhat paralleling Penacony in that if Penacony was the time Ratio helped Aventurine realize he wanted to live, when Aventurine fell in love it was during another assignment where he almost died but Ratio actually physically helped save his life that time.

On the other hand, I feel like Aventurine's life is already so dramatic that it would instead happen over something totally normal, like Ratio giving Aventurine coffee before a meeting or the two of them complaining (gossiping) about their coworkers, just something that could happen whenever but it's so comfortable and safe that it's nonetheless pivotal for someone who doesn't usually get to have normal.

outsiders modern au where the dipp’s own a recording studio….. walk with me.

it’s where they get the majority of their wealth from. originally owned by their grandfather, grandma dipp inherited the company when he died. now trip and melvin work there — trip as a sound engineer (projecting don’t play) and melvin who is mainly still being taught how to genuinely mix. while he’s still learning he helps trip set up for recording sessions, tends to the instruments, works the front desk, and all of the jobs trip doesn’t want to do…. imagine walking in and u see melvin DIPP. sitting in (hanging off) a rolley chair with the biggest rbf. chet and sergei also practically work there since they always visit whenever and are given tasks. grandma dipp would say something like “time is money,” and put them to WORK.

BONUS: fame au. popstar marcia who comes in and records in that studio specifically to see the cute engineer.

follow-up to this post. violet is a century conflict-era oc i've been playing around with. CC & ramblings about Elle and Violet beneath the cut.

Elle and Violet grew up together. Even as children, they were intensely competitive with each other. They were close enough in skill that neither could slack off without falling behind, but despite Violet's efforts Elle was generally recognized the more talented of the two. Violet hated that. Between her resentment and Elle's ego, their relationship steadily devolved into catty insults and passive aggression. It was easier for them to find work as a pair (they genuinely did play well together), so they stuck together for 20 years before they caught Vlad's attention, but by the time they reached Forgotten Hollow they absolutely despised each other, despite (or perhaps because of) their awareness that they never could've gotten so far without each other.

Elle, the obvious favorite, had a much better time working for Vlad. Violet got to play when he wanted a duet or quartet (2 violins + viola + cello) but she was expected to sit out for string trios (1 violin + viola + cello) and solos unless Elle was unavailable. When Vlad told Elle that Dillon didn't want her to perform, Violet was delighted - this, she thought, was her chance. When she realized that Dillon's intention was to seduce Elle, not get rid of her, Violet had to accept that she wouldn't have her turn in the spotlight until Elle either retired or got dumped.

(to be clear - none of this is meant to knock second violins. I played violin back in school and preferred to play second whenever my conductor would let me move out of first. there is, however, a difference in how people see 1st/2nd violins, at least at lower skill levels. 2nd violin parts are often a bit easier than 1st, but when playing pieces like bach's concerto for 2 violins, with a second violin part just as difficult as first, people would still assume I was the weaker member of the duet even when first couldn't play their part correctly. 1st violins get more prestige and I understand Violet's frustration, but Elle genuinely was the better violinist, and the best violinist gets to be first chair)

I talked about this a while ago (I think) but it annoys me when people use the stupid "well if the roles were revered/if Sierra was a guy you wouldn't defend her" strawman when talking about Sierra and her relationship to Cody as if Sierra as a character would even exist if she was a guy. Her writing and how she acts is entirely driven by misogyny and the people who wrote her seeing women as more neurotic or whatever than men. And this document (which is really good and you should read) goes more in depth about how a lot of her writing and her being depicted as eager/perverted is racist as well but. yeah. And you can recognize this about her without "defending" her or whatever. Yeah she was creepy and weird but MANY other characters in td are and they don't have nearly as much discourse surrounding them as she does.

Anyways I digress... going off my first point I feel like people forget how much misogyny (and racism in sierra's case, what with her being a woc) affects how characters are perceived and written in things. Sierra's character would not be what it was if she was a white guy. You can write flawed female characters who might have traits similar to sierra without being misogynistic and its actually bad if all your female characters are 100% perfect angels because that's misogynistic in its own right. but like there are still stereotypes you have to be aware of and if someone is misogynistic and writing a female character their misogyny will show through in her writing, like sierra. Watching world tour/all stars it feels like they're not giving her any of her own charm or positive traits, it's only attached to other characters (namely cody) and when she exists on her own (barely) she's just doing stuff to make you hate her.

And in and of itself the fact that her character is literally ONLY attached to cody (or cameron in all stars) is misogynistic. She is clearly a really strong person on her own, especially in total drama. like physically she's super strong and agile, she has a good understanding of the contestants already because of watching TWO seasons of the show many times and she probably knows a lot about how the game itself works, etc. Clearly she's also good at finding information about people so she would probably know how to use certain contestants traits to her own gain (to form alliances and otherwise). But for some reason they never really elaborate on that and especially in world tour just attach her at the hip to a random guy who she drags super far through the competition without ever getting any character development of her own and its so UGHHH. And I wouldn't even have a problem with her being a huge fan of Cody in specific (although I do wish they would focus on her being a td superfan as a whole more) if they just handled it better. which they don't. and the shit with Cameron in all stars is just dumb as fuck I'm sorry I don't think I even need to elaborate on that
