Happy with the staff content this year but am I the only one who is disappointed with the PV we got? It's basically a slideshow of art we've already seen, major downgrade from the year 1 PV that had literally all the events. There was a drop in quality of the anniversary PVs over the years and it really shows this year. Sorry if you find this too negative I don't mean to hate I just wish Twst would do better for it's ANNIVERSARY.

[For everyone's reference, here are the anniversary PVs in order of release: 2021 / 2022 / 2023 / 2024]

Mmm, now that you mention it, I noticed this trend with the Halloween PVs 🤔 For year 1, there was a video that showed all members of the NRC casy, even those that did not receive cards at that time. There were then several short variants of the PV released for year 2/Endless Halloween Night (part 1 / part 2 / part 3 / part 4). Altogether, they feature all of the characters, including the students from year 1 but heavily shadowed and with glowing eyes to indicate ghostly possession. Even Glorious Masquerade features all of the students that get new cards for the event plus Rollo, although there are notably more still shots here. The Stage in Playful Land CM, by comparison, is significantly shorter and only shows us the three SSRs (Ace, Ortho, and Kalim) as well as the two new characters (Fellow and Gidel).

As this anon has said, the anniversary PVs have changed a lot over time too. The first one was the most animated and integrated several event outfits. The second one was also animated a fair amount, but you can tell corners were cut in some places where they transition to photographs/still images. This alone works thematically given that the player is a photographer, but you can still catch dips in quality when it comes to the art style. I remember finding Deuce running and the Kalim + Silver flying scene odd, as well as Jade and Trein's faces strange in general. Then the third PV rolls around and it only features the third years; the animation also seems to be much more sluggish (although this could be a stylistic choice; not sure). A friend actually recently pointed out to me that Lilia's pose looks like he was pulled straight from other assets; his artwork in the animation is almost the exact same as his smiling expression in the game. This year's is the most different (+ most static) and, like year 3's PV, only provides "new" content for a select few characters (the dorm leaders). They also reuse pre-existing illustrations already found in the game that don't seem to be picked for any particular reason (like, there are random Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles groovies in there). This direction, I'm guessing, is less costly and more efficient than making an entirely original animation, which is what was done in previous years. (Not that Disney or Aniplex is hurting for money to fund this, lol) Would I have preferred another PV in the style of year 1's? Yeah, for sure. I want to see other events and their outfits animated! Was what we got this year bad? Not necessarily; I think the production and editing was very technically impressive, but I'm still sad we didn't get anything substantially "new" to chew on (as someone who isn't a fan of most third years or the dorm leaders). Maybe it's just something we perceive as a deficit only because year 1 set the bar so high. It is what it is; whoever was in charge of the anniversary PV was probably doing the best they could with whatever budget they were given 😔 Let's hope that next year's will be a return to form, or that at least the money/effort is being redirected to other bigger projects (maybe the anime?).

Update: new info about David Tennant's elusive 1996 short film Quality Control!

I've got a few new updates to add to this post I did a while back about a short film David Tennant did in 1996 called Quality Control. If you haven't yet read my first post about this short film, you can read it at the link I posted above. And then come on back!

Firstly, Quality Control was broadcast many more times than I thought it was! I thought it was only broadcast four times between 1996 and 1998, so imagine my surprise when I did some digging and found it had actually broadcast eleven times between 1996 and 1999. Oops!

But by far the biggest update I have on this short is that recently I've discovered why it was made...and by whom!

But first, the updated broadcast list:

Of course now that I've found these, I'm aware there may be other broadcast dates I have yet missed. If so, I didn't find any past 2000. But I reserve the right to be mistaken, ha!

Now here's the bigger update: the why, and the who!

Published 23 June 1995 in The Scotsman, here's the article that broke it wide open for me, and its relevant quote:

"Simplicity and technical finesse marked this year's graduation films at the Edinburgh College of Art degree show. While Hannah Lewis's Quality Control makes excellent use of a superior comic performance by David Tennant as a youth trainee on his first day in a Leith sweatshop…"

WOW, right?

But this new information leads to all sorts of other questions. If this short was initially part of a degree course, how did it make the leap to broadcast? Was it in one of the short film UK production schemes happening at the time which were helping new film creatives launch their ideas: i.e., First Reels, Tartan Shorts, New Found Land?

I'm not sure. At first blush, Quality Control doesn't seem to have been included in a larger broadcast of shorts like Bite and Spaces had been (Bite was shown on the program Don't Look Down on STV, and Spaces was shown on STV as a part of First Reels.) In its broadcast listings, Quality Control is always listed on its own.

The description the article gives on the short is also very interesting. The article says David played a youth trainee on his first day in a Leith sweatshop. But reviews and blurbs of the short's plot in newspapers say he was a job trainee who becomes a quality controller/inspector at a skateboard factory. It seems to me that a sweatshop and a skateboard factory are two very different places, but are they? Was that changed somehow between its showing at the College of Art degree show, or was it just the article writer's bad description?

And just who is Hannah Lewis, its creator? Well my money's on producer Hannah Lewis, who's worked with Morag McKinnon and Colin McLaren. They all met at the Edinburgh College of Art, and had made three shorts together by 1999 (one of which, 'Home', won a BAFTA!) But if she is the right Hannah Lewis, Quality Control isn't listed anywhere on her IMDb. So while I can't be sure she's the short's creator, the time is right, and the place is right. A lot of the dots sure do line up!

Now we know why it was done - and who did it - can we find it? Is it archived somewhere? I haven't found it so far if it is - at least it's not archived at the Moving Image Archive in Glasgow, or at the British Film Institute. But I've yet to check to see if the Edinburgh College of Art may have it.

As far as all the other questions this raises - like how did David get involved with the project (since he was living in London at the time) and if he knew someone who knew someone who...ya know? Pfffft. Your guess is as good as mine! It's one more "I dunno" to add to the pile.

In conclusion, we may be as close as we've ever been to finding out more about David's elusive 1996 short, Quality Control.

I'll keep on searching!

I've been trying to more recently! But I'm not always great at it. At the very least when someone comments something detailed and thoughtful I try to reply - those comments always mean a lot to me.

Not fully intentionally but the place @holdsteady and I left our collaborative fic How to Live Here was basically right after a massive fight/breakup between characters that we fully planned to resolve and then just.... never did. Oops. Surprisingly, people are very rarely mean to us about this.

Probably Body Language? Very much intended to have that one wrapped up with a bow.

Not in a long time. Last time I really did was on some of my Life is Strange fics (either homophobic hate or bc i was writing a ship people didn't like).

I sometimes joke about/hc elaborate crossovers when I'm watching stuff with my friends, but I don't really have any interest in writing any. Or reading any, really, for that matter.

Yeah! I co-wrote How to Live Here with my best friend @holdsteady! That's the only one that's been published, at least. @nataliving adn @jewishsuperfam and i have worked on some stuff together too and that's been fun :)

I don't know if I actually can pick one but honest Buffy/Faith are all-timers and absolutely formative. Second to that would be Rachel/Max/Chloe from Life is Strange.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

God, How to Live Here absolutely haunts me. There's a few Mass Effect ones (Shepard/Liara arranged marriage AU and my Jack/Miranda series) that I would love to finish but probably never will. Those are the ones that probably have the most written for them that I just haven't wrapped up.

I think I'm good at a lot of it! I write pretty good smut, I'm good at character voice, I think my writing is pretty readable

Actually writing lmao. I struggle with coming up with workable ideas. I intimidate myself out of projects a lot. I fall off stuff kinda easy too tbh. And I'm TERRIBLE at writing alone - for anything bigger than a oneshot I need someone to hype me up and hold my hand through it or else I get bored or lose confidence :?

Generally in favor of skipping the google translate stuff. It's usually pretty whack

Despite my quietness, I have been tapping away at a couple of different projects. So, enjoy six series of six sentences --

COBB Project #1

She’s been making these excursions on her own every few months. Claiming them to be for her research, but I followed her last time. I saw the supplies she took, and didn’t bring back with her. We were outside Bristol when I lost track of her. Somehow she managed to lose all her supplies and beat me back to Watford.  There’s no way she managed that on her own.  But until she’s willing to admit the truth to me, I’m on my own with finding Simon.

COBB Project #2

Coward.  It’s the last word I’ll hear from him for a while as I step into the warm sunshine. While he can technically reach me beyond the Underworld, it is a lot harder for him to do. From what I can tell, it’s not worth the effort.  Not caring whether the chlamys around my shoulder gets dirty, I collapse onto my back into the grass. Letting the sun warm my chilled skin. 

A Gift for Someone

Nothing to see here. I wonder how many other students at Watford have used this spell for elicit sexual acts. How many students have had their trousers pulled down in the middle of the Great Lawn with none of us being the wiser? Of course, this isn't the Great Lawn - it's the back table in Astronomy that I'm crouched beneath. And it's not just any student who's trousers I'm pulling down eagerly. They're Simon Snow's trousers.

Another Gift for Someone

The snap of leather against leather sends a chill down my spine. I do my best to conceal it. The click of heeled boots on the wooden floor let me know that he's walking towards me, and still I fight the urge to shiver in anticipation. But when I feel the soft brush of the collar and warm press of fingers on my throat, I can't help but shudder. "Are you going to be good for me tonight?"

Something I'm working on in secret that may or may not see the light of day

Even if I’d come to accept myself more - feel more comfortable as my own individual person - I was still hung-up on the idea of having children that weren’t mine. It became an even bigger issue after Simon admitted to wanting a child. My mind became full of the impossible; of a small child with golden skin, freckles, dark hair, curls, and light colored eyes.  We thought it impossible, and set the topic off to the side. There were plenty of other things for us to worry over. My graduation and the wedding being the top two items on the list.

This time, when I spot the movement out of the bedroom window I don't hesitate to leave the room. Fuck these wraiths. I'm not spending another night alone in a room with them. Baz can complain about me following him into the woods all he wants. It's not like he's doing anything all that secretive. We both know that I know that he's a vampire - one that has apparently never tasted human blood.

Okay, so I just finished watching a play-through of Poppy Playtime chapter 3 and um

I have a lot of thoughts/pos

Btw, I don't support MobGames or anything in that nature. I just like the game for the story and cool characters.

Rant under the cut + Spoiler warning

My first thought is I love this chapter. I do enjoy the story telling while still being able to add more horrifying visuals that still are realistic in the world of the game. Especially with the whole 'dream hallucination' thing, which allows them to get creative.

Second, CatNap is so cool. I think he only says one line of dialogue and it's pretty hit or miss depending on whether or not you're listening. But that's why I liked Huggy Wuggy so much as an antagonist in Chapter 1. Huggy doesn't say a single word yet still manages to be perceived as threatening. CatNap is similar, in which he doesn't say much because he doesn't need to. Also purple cat, cool heckin design.

Another thing I like about CatNap is that people knew he was going to be the antagonist, he was always seen as a threat prior to the release of Chapter 3, but in the moment of seeing him in action, it pulls the rug from right under you. And I think that's really neat and it does a lot to establish how terrifying CatNap actually is.

Who the heck is Ollie. I mean, I don't hate him, and the name does ring a bell. But I'm not sure if I can recall an Ollie anywhere in the Poppy Playtime story pre-Chapter 3. Maybe it was in Project playtime somewhere and I missed it. But yeah, mysterious character I guess.

Umm, didn't really like Miss Delight that much. I mean, she works in the narrative of having a school at the PlayCare and the whole Bigger Bodies Initiative and what not. But I feel like she could've been more provoked or maybe get a little more of her character. Though there is more than one according to the tape showing The Hour of Joy, so that's probably the reason. It's fine I guess, I just want to see less filler characters going forward, if any at all. Some fleshing out of formerly introduced characters would be interesting.

Dogday, man. It honestly makes me feel so bad for him. Like, from what we can gather from what he says, the Smiling Critters all collectively agreed that the Prototype wasn't really okay with them. And CatNap, seeing that as protest, either did what he did to Dogday or potentially worse to them, or even maybe just straight up killed them. And that's so sad to think about. Also his whole bit actually unnerved me quite a bit. Usually I'm not disturbed with stuff from Poppy playtime (i.e what happened to Mommy Long Legs in Chapter 2), but that was the first time I got an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach.

One hell of a final fight holy shit. CatNap just going full out truly shows that he knows what he's doing, he knows who you are, and we don't have any other mention that CatNap has done that with any other Playtime Co. employee. It's very deliberate, and I like it. Also his death is brutal. All of them are, and Dogday definitely got the worst of it, but holy shit man. Looks like Huggy, if he is dead, got a more merciful death.

I mean, yeah he fell after hitting a bunch of pipes, but also we don't know if he's dead or not. Mommy Long Legs had a pretty gruesome death, being grinded up alive by a machine while knowing that if you die you'll become a part of presumably the Prototype is quite the troublesome death. I already talked about Dogday and how disturbed I was with his technical death. CatNap's was surprising, because it wasn't an 'if he was going to die', it was a 'how he was going to die'. And um, yeah being electrocuted, set ablaze, burnt to a crisp then stabbed in through the mouth by the Prototype will do it. Though I would like to see more of CatNap and Mommy Long Legs in future chapters, they're definitely my favorites.

Kissy Missy, oh my lord. The sounds of her screams from above the lift was so upsetting. I love Kissy Missy, please don't let her be doomed by the narrative please I'm begging I can't take the emotional turmoil.

Those are most of my main thoughts, though I will say more if people want to hear me talk about Poppy Playtime some more.

WHY GREGORY CAN'T BE PATIENT 46

In the last few months, I've seen lots of theories about patient 46 and what's clear is that no one really know who it is, but a big part of the fandom think that Gregory is a good candidate which... I have some thoughts about it.

Additional note: GGY is probably canon and that means that maybe Gregory IS patient 46, but honestly the only way for this to work its of Gregory is possesed and has no memory of what's going so. So, this theory still applies, because Gregory, as we know him in Security Breach, can't be patient 46.

I thinks there's lots of in game evidence which contradict this conclusion, so here's why:

Patient 46 and Gregory have complete different personalities. Patient 46 doesn't talk a lot, and when they do it or talk about themselves its described as objective, like they're telling things that didn't happen to them. They have fun when they know that the animatronics are acting weird, they don't like to go outside, they don't like the light, and they like masks. Now, you have Gregory: he talks a lot, he's sarcastic and makes jokes, he says "lame" when he got something of mr. hippo, he cleary doesn't like how the animatronics are acting, and he shows lots of emotion during the game, from fear in some moments to sadness when freddy dies at the end.

In addition to this: Gregory spents half of the game using a camara that can blind animatronics because of the flash, but he doesn't have problems with the light, wants to get out of the pizzeria, and he's also worried about the dissapearence that took place in the complex, which doesn't make sense if he was patient 46.

2. "Gregory is violent, and Patient 46 killed the therapist, so that's a link!" -> Actually, no. I think Gregory is a gremlin, but I don't think that his violent acts are unjustified. The kid spent hours inside the pizzeria with robots that are 1) Bigger than him 2) Stronger than him and 3) Are trying to kill him. His acts are more in self - defense that anything. There's a diference between destroying animatronics that are trying to kill you and killing your therapist because she's about to uncover something.

And yes, Gregory also kills Vanny in one of the endings, but again: Vanny was about to kill him.

3. Patient 46 is a hacker, but Gregory isn't. This was one of the things that made me be sure about this theory. Gregory is good with videogames (if the GGY that are in the arcades are him), he knows about animatronics and how things work, but that's the thing: he knows about mechanics, not about programming. He may know some things about technology, but programming is a whole different story. A mechanic or mechanical engineer will know some things about programming for their projects, but usually it has nothing to do with creating a virus or hacking a whole company. They just, can't do that. So, Gregory is a mechanic, Patient 46 a hacker.

In some parts of the game, Gregory has acces to computers, he could have made things easier for him, he could even acces the security protocols or open the doors, but he didn't.

4. Patient 46 is a manipulator, and the game makes you believe that they're the one manipulating Vanessa: they go to the same therapist, they had met Vanny and knows the technics of the pizzaplex. Gregory, on the other hand, is afraid of Vanny, runs away from Vanessa and also he didn't know the identity behind the mask. But Gregory looks surprised in the fire ending, and he also tries to save Vannesa in the Vanny good ending, which wouldn't make sense if he was the hacker:

If he was the one manipulating her, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do that or hide everytime he sees her. Yes, Gregory lied to Freddy about the stolen parts and about his friends, but I don't think that was he trying to manipulate Freddy, and just a kid having like, the worst night of his fucking life and doesn't want to make his new robot dad and only ally sad or mad at him.

5. Who would bring Gregory to the therapist? Like, that's an important fact. Sure, maybe he could go by himself, but if he is in the United States, doesn't therapist charge like, a lot? How is Gregory going to pay it? Also, he's a kid, the therapist has to talk first with his parents or legal guardian, they can't just accept a random kid. Patient 46 has, or at least had, parents. That's stated by the therapist, but she obviously didn't know them. So, who is bringing patien 46 to therapy? And who's paying for it? Gregory, at least from what you see, doesn't have parents, but also I don't think a 12 year old could afford therapy.

I think that patient 46 had parents, but there was some type of tragedy. Now, he's in someone else custody, and whoever this person is, is the one paying for the therapy. Maybe to control de therapist, to have Vanessa under vigilance, I don't know, but there has to be someone behind it, a kid can't just do that (I'm not from the United States, so if there's someone who has better knowledge about how therapy works there, please tell me if I'm wrong).

Gregory, on the other hand, is more of a mistery. We see that he's homeless, or at least doesn't have a place he wants to go back to.

Things they have in common are:

·They like candy -> Lots of kids do.

·They have a rebel side -> But they show it differently, and Gregory has reasons for the things he do.

·We don't know a lot about their past.

In conclusion, for Gregory and Patient 46 to be the same person we have to assume that Gregory had been lying and pretending during the events of all Security Breach, even during moments when he didn't have to.

And let me tell you, if he really spents all the game acting, he deserves an Oscar, at least. But other than that, the motivations, personalities and abilities of both characters doesn't match each other.

You could also say that Gregory is a robot and his memory was messed with by someone, but robot Gregory is a theory for another day and I prefer to believe the little evidence the canon gives us instead of creating theories that gives us an explation at the expenses of what we see in the games. Maybe we shouldn't know who patient 46 is for now, or maybe we didn't conect the pieces together, but I'm pretty sure that Gregory isn't the one behind those tapes, and I needed to explain why.

Undaunted and it's sequels are about WR superhero Au. I've been told it's similar to MHA but I've not seen it other than through memes and some of the music so idk if that's true or not. The first few chapters are sad but things get better.

The Monster Mash is based on a challenge. Ruby tries to go to a Halloween speed dating service but somehow ends up at the monster event and meets Gorgon Weiss.

Everything Has a Price is about thief Ruby and merchant Schnee family. Ruby is caught in the act as she attempts to steal from the Schnee's and has to pay back her debt. What will become of her now and why was she there in the first place?

I'm trying to design a board game that features a large map of the United States made of hexagons. I've spent days pouring over which projection to use to preserve distance and direction as closely as possible, and then figuring out the sizes and quantities of hexagons I'd need in order to preserve the latitude and longitude grids, and what I came up with was approximately this

These are very rough sketches, but you can see how the longitude lines at the edges and center follow the hex grid (the US is almost exactly 60 degrees east to west, so the azimuthal projection worked perfectly), while the latitude lines are circle arcs, so I'd need to fill in some hexes underneath the two trapezoids shown in the third image.

The problem is that if I made each hex as big as I wanted them to be (1 inch tall), then the board would be nearly 5 feet by 10 feet, which is A LITTLE TOO BIG! If I scaled each hex down to 1/3 of an inch, it would be 3 feet by a foot and a half, which is like two Monopoly boards next to each other (about the same size as Risk). That's better, but it makes the hexes too small to play on; how are you supposed to keep track of where your pieces belong when each space is a third of an inch? It would be way too clustered. This means I need bigger hexes, and fewer of them, which means sacrificing a lot of detail I was hoping to include.

This project is WAY too ambitious, so I'll probably end up scaling it way down to a single state instead of the whole country, but it's got my creative juices a'flowing and it's distracting me from other projects I could actually potentially finish, so my brain has chosen to fixate on this for the foreseeable future.

I feel like either a genius or a madman, creating page after page of incomprehensible figures. The numbers, they sing to me... Can you not hear their music?

I dunno. Something about creating grids of hexagons in crude mspaint soothes me. Very mathematical, but with zero technical skills required. I'm also very reliant on this triangle calculator because trigonometry is where math starts becoming white noise for me; I'm an algebra wizard, I could teach it with my eyes closed, but I can't do trig in my head, and calc is completely beyond me.

All That Remains because of the structure; Truth in Masquerade because there are wheels within wheels when it comes to the political intrigue; both Get Up Eight and Go For Broke because of all the historical research I have to do PLUS the distinct voice each of them needs. They are all extremely rewarding to update as well as to write, but those chapters always take FOREVER

2) What fic(s) do you enjoy writing or have the most fun with?

SO MANY. Desert & Reward is generally just me chortling to myself as I write, knowing all the twists to come and how much I'm gonna get yelled at; I'm always full of ideas for Wide Florida Bay, and between the satisfaction of getting them out and its beloved reception every time, I love working on it; In Plain Sight and We Seek That Which We Shall Not Find tend to just be extremely quick drafts (despite the size of the latter), it's all the comedy of errors that I just enjoy writing; The Most Perverse Creature in the World is the closest I really get to doing original fiction while writing fic, and I get to do a smattering of slow burn and political intrigue without the heaviness of my bigger political fics; I've recently had a HUGELY fun time writing Documented for Posterity-- it's that disaster attraction plus Suzu's ridiculously fun voice that really makes that one; and don't speak boyshit has been a recent job to peck away at, even if it takes me 3 drafts to get the voices right.

3) Any Au’s you would wish to do in the future or have thoughts on?

I'm constantly talking about how much i'd like to do an obiyuki Ao Haru Ride AU, and I'm sure there's only about a thousand others I can't think of off the top of my head...or at least are so far off from being ready to poke at that I don't want to get up hopes 😂 I'd really love a chance to go back and write both the Practical Magic AU and the Swan Princess AU from the beginning.

I also have just about a BILLION ideas for hakuouki as well-- I'd really love to do an ill-advised long term project that is an AU where some of the internal logic of canon is fixed-- Chizuru has the demon strength, the blood stuff makes more sense, etc-- but I'm definitely going to finish a few other things first 😂 I'd also love to do a post-SSL Yamachi route, which is, I guess, a technical AU since it's an official AU of hakuouki canon...or maybe even trying to do an urban fantasy version of SSL. WHO KNOWS. I've run my mouth off a lot during the steam on this one, I'm sure Joanna has a LIST of things I said I'd do

I think I’m about halfway through the first draft, but here’s some context as to why it’s taking me so long LOL 

actually there’s just one overarching reason probs... it being I was overly ambitious LMAO like. there’s not much royai in this chapter relative to the rest, but it’s quite a pivotal point of the story and i tried to go all in for the chess metaphors bcs that’s what one (1) melodramatic colonel would do right?? turned out to be quite a formidable task for a chess noob who is nowhere near Beth Harmon’s level like me to write chess in a technical and metaphorical way HAHAHAHA but!!! we’re halfway there my dudes!!! I’ve spent many hours playing against a computer and learning the basic openings and/or variations and watching/reading the queen’s gambit... 

... only to get wrecked by my bf who hasn’t played chess since elementary school. literally what on earth but I take comfort in the fact that Roy has consistently gotten his ass whooped too <3 self-projection at its finest!!!

the second reason is because this chapter deals with a number of political elements. honestly with all that’s been going on in the world lately, I feel like I have to tread really carefully even if it’s just fictional work bcs I know politics can be a real sensitive issue for some (and rightfully so). I think I've been struggling to find a balance between being politically correct while still staying true to the overall historical context of politics in the early 1900s / late 1800s. the concept of a democracy didn’t really flourish until the early 20th century, at least, and even then there was a lot of doubt and disillusionment about the workability of a democracy that stemmed from the Great Depression (and many other factors, but this shall not become a history essay 😆).

luther: physics teacher, cause you know…spaceboy……everyone is scared at the beginning of the year when they get him as a teacher cause he’s TALL AND HUGE AS FUUUUUCK, but then fast forward two months later and everyone is chill because turns out he’s a really easygoing and soft teacher…just really socially awkward and lowkey dumb sometimes

asshole kids in his classes use his softness to his disadvantage and pull pranks on him constantly, poor guy….the other kids tho always tell them to shove it tho because he may be soft and dumb and socially awkward but he’S OUR SOFT AND DUMB AND SOCIALLY AWKWARD TEACHER DON’T TOUCH HIM!! the first time they protected him he had to remind himself not to tear up because HE FELT SO LOVED!!!!

vanya: strings orchestra teacher for obvious reasons. she was real shy at first when she first got hired but the the strings department at that time was soooo small and crappy that she went “oh HELL no,” rolled up her sleeves, and set to revitalize it just because she cares about music so much.

she recruited more students, got more advanced music so the kids could feel a challenge and be motivated to improve, and collaborated with the choir and band departments to provide more clubs, events and opportunities outside of class for kids to do music.

she is a no business type of teacher when it comes to arrogant people that put other players down or people who don’t practice and goof around and will snap at them SO HARD because everyone needs to be at their a game for a concert and in an orchestra no single person is bigger that the collective. she’s however SOOOO SOFT with really soft playing and shy kids because she understands how it feels when you think your playing isn’t good enough, so gives them extra help, gives them solo lines or solos to play so they gain more confidence in themselves, all while constantly giving encouraging words about how much they’ve improved that always makes them feel better and more motivated to improve.

she’s an absolute anxious and cranky maniac a week before the concert but she throws parties with food, drinks, and games afterwards to celebrate with her kids. she constantly gets them to play music related games and challenges that they do as a class for team bonding to make things more entertaining in class. she makes dumb music puns a lot too! 

she also will in the class say crazy stories of her childhood and the crazy shit she and her siblings did and then somehow always relate it back to the lesson and make it some sage advice…the kids never understand how she does it

also one day she chops her hair real short and cute and the conversation with her students basically went like this:

THEY TALK AND JOKE AND LAUGH TOGETHER AND GRACE WILL ALWAYS GIVE HIM A PASTRY SHE MADE WHENEVER HE COMES BY AND HE JUST IS SO SOFT AROUND HER ITS GREAT (his students find his sudden change in his demeanour amusing “hey mr diego is nurse grace your MMMmoooOoOooOOOmMMMMMMmmmmmM??” “kid your a good one but say that shit to me one more time and I will beat the sh-”)

she always has a smile on her and everyone LOVES HER…..except for the administration that always want to get her fired because they are assholes and they think she’s too weird to stay. however, every time they try to fire her, a certain teacher comes by the office for what they claim is a civil discussion...and after an hour of yelling, death threats, and the door getting 10 knife marks they go “you know what grace…you can stay" 

those assholes are persistant though, and one time though not even a certain teacher could get them away from firing her so once the news breaks out that nurse grace is leaving the whole school is FURIOUS and throws a 1 week riot and the administration get so scared and tired that they just go "OK WERE SORRY JUST KIDDIN- OK OK SHE’S STAYING FOR GOOD JESUS”

grace is so grateful that she makes a whole bunch of cake for everyone and everyone with tears in their eyes just goes “this…is why we love you sm nurse mom”

Hello! So I know Nori is MFS' music producer but what does he actually do? I'm not entirely familiar with the technicalities of the music industry (hell, i dont even know the difference between an arranger and composer) and I tried the magic wizard otherwise known as google and it said music producers can have a variety of parts they play in a project so that wasnt very helpful or specific. Has MFS ever clarified how Nori helps them? I know he recruited members, especially Hiro and Teru. Thanks!

Generally the person who oversees the overall management and runnings of a project till the final outcome. 

NORIHIRO OTANI

In Nori’s case, he can best be described as the guy who turned MY FIRST STORY from an idea into a reality and coordinates the overall management of the band. This includes financing, logistics, human resource, merchandising, marketing, publicity etc.

The one thing Nori doesn’t touch or probably very minimally, as far as I know, is the music. MFS members are fully responsible for that. At least based on what I understand from their older interviews.

It doesn’t mean that MFS was manufactured. Nori expressed a keen interest to do a band together when he met Sho and liked the music Sho was making. But as Sho said in Zenshin Documentary, Nori was more interested in the band management side. Not being a musician.

I will outline some of his major functions. This could be lengthy but who knows some of you might want to try a career in artists’ management, eh 😃?

1. Financing

He was responsible to source for the money needed to launch the band in the beginning. Since he was barely out of university himself with not much to his name, he pitched the idea to none other than the one who could i.e GEN who was at the helm of Subciety clothing label at the time.

Besides GEN starting INTACT Records for this purpose, I also think MFS had to give up some publishing rights to their earlier songs to bigger companies in exchange for the financial support. Don’t take my words totally as I could be wrong here but TV ASAHI Music Co. Ltd* does hold a part of the copyrights to the first TWO albums. MFS started to hold full copyrights starting only from the 3rd CD 最終回STORY.

Being an indie band allows MFS to retain most of the royalties to themselves. STORYTELLER Fan Club is not exactly just a sweet secret space for exclusive fans BUT a fan-supported crowd-funding is what it really is. I am sure Nori is the mastermind behind this as well.

2. Logistics

Arrangement for travels, accommodation, transportation and the crew as well. The paperwork, who does this and that and dealings with booking agents/promoters/venues. Nori may not do all these himself but he can appoint people to handle these under his directions. MFS works closely with JMS for this and the current MFS Tour Manager as I’m writing this is Yuuki Tanimura (iTONY Entertainment which is a JMS subsidiary).

Though I’m sure they went as buddies to Australia but I’m not surprised if Tanimura handled the travel matters 🤔

3. Human Resource

Salaries, bonus (if any), insurances, taxes among others. Visas & permits for overseas performances. All these not just for band members but also whoever the crew they employ for any project.

4. Merchandising

Besides discussing with the band members on concepts and designs, Nori would be the one arranging for those items to be manufactured and delivered by the suppliers.　In Nori’s case, he has experienced people like GEN and Kentaro Suzuki a.k.a KTR who know the ins & outs of the industry to show him the rope 😄.

5. Marketing & Publicity

MFS basically has been engaging JMS for promotions & distributions from the start BUT when it comes to maximizing what the band can make from every project, you can bet Nori is behind it. 

For examples:

i. Those endless Limited Editions & bonuses that make hardcore fans buy 6 copies of the same CD 😱😂! 

ii. Also those extras at the Tour Finals. With MFS name being “stamped” on everything from food stalls to fun fair games. I honestly think Nori learned this from watching HYDE organizing the Halloween Party 🤔.

All in all, Nori is also the one or at least one of those in the team responsible for turning MFS into the money-making juggernaut that they are now.

How much power/influence does Nori have over MFS?

Well, when MFS dedicated an entire encore of their Tour Final for him to propose to his girlfriend and subsequently deprived the fans of the 3-song performance from the DVD to keep his privacy, then you can pretty much draw your own conclusions there. BIG!

Sorry Nori, I’m still so bummed about the Encore from MMA getting cut out. Especially when watching Teru’s speech and hearing him say, “It has only been THREE songs so far. We have TWENTY MORE songs coming!“. Then we got only SEVENTEEN more songs. The rest would be the sounds of my heart breaking 😭💔.

SHO TSUCHIYA ~ The Sound Producer

Nori being called “MFS Producer” is NOT to be confused with the person at the control console during recording. The band leader Sho Tsuchiya has always been that person from the start. 

However, before his hiatus, the music production credit was usually listed as “produced by MY FIRST STORY”. After his hiatus, they have started listing it with “Sound Producer : Sho Tsuchiya”.

GEN ~ Executive Producer

To understand why this man has always been listed in the credits that way, please refer to the “Financing” part about Nori. At the time, GEN was the business savvy one who had the means and capacity to start a record company. He’s responsible for the payrolls of some MFS staff since they are employed under INTACT Records. To the fans, we like to refer to GEN as The Boss 😁.

So Monday, after I posted this:

GUESS WHAT?

Someone showed up where I would normally be. Technically I stopped for MANY reason. But I'm sure the reason she showed up, was the reason I started showing back up. Because I and the person there are back on talking terms. I'm sure she thinks I'm going to the same thing with her.

For her AND HER SON, it's too FUCKING late for those kinds of acts from me. I already gave ENOUGH to them.

Story time. this is what transpired with the person at the location that I'm now back on speaking terms:

Few weeks ago at a place I frequented with people who are like family to me and a new annoying girl. You see I had a falling out with this girl. Why? She's a narcissist. The thing is because I am skilled knowledgeable and called upon often to help. She gets jealous or stir up problems. Especially with me. I mean even when I do nothing. Technically she just seem to like stirring up problems. I tried to be patient with her for months. But she finally got on my nerves and I avoided her but tried to be friendly. But then she stir up problem with customers and workers that literally interfere with me helping. This resulted in an altercation. From there apparently a bigger person was called. The next day there was a meeting. In that meeting she STILL couldn't get it into her head and I have had it with her. Because now she was going to ruin my good reputation as a customer service person. I have self control and she doesn't. Then she might continue to stir up problems at inappropriate times.

So I decided it's ENOUGH and WON'T return until she stops working there. However, God told me to return. And I chose to help out again because they needed my help. The thing is a few days later. The OG worker who has been TIRED of the girl's behaviour but too nice. She has been fed up and getting loud and short, especially with her. So one day I was helping and a newer newer girl couldn't do what the customer was asking. This is because she needed training. The customer couldn't wait and asked me. So I took the big job on. The thing is, it was going to take hours to complete with ease for me but much much longer for the newer newer worker. Plus I wasn't going to be paid. I actually don't get paid or get a lil change. So I knew I was doing it free. While typing and in the thick of it oh the back computer (1 of 3 in the whole place). A customer came with a smaller printing work. So they send it to the back computer as always to complete. But I was there. I needed to concentrate. So I nicely asked if the 2 front computers were busy. To then be loudly disrespected about it. I mean calmly saying it's in use would suffice. I was busy with a customer and didn't know. But NO. So I started to get pissed and paused the work to do the smaller one.

You see. I decided in my head that, it was the last of that and I would barely return. Maybe inform them as to why but just let it be. Because enough of that stress. So now when I'm almost finished, FINALLY. Another smaller project came. I was tired, hungry (hadn't eaten all day), back hurting me and more. No one knew and I kept it to myself. To hear it sent to the back. In which I sent it back up.

Then there was a loud commotion about sending it back and I MUST stop to do it. I said no. Either they do it or the new customer HAD TO wait. The customer said they couldn't and she loudly and disrespectfully said how she couldn't and I must. I ignored it with the customer I'm helping beside me and continued. Which resulted in louder commotion and demand that she won't let anyone back in who aren't works. Which was FINE BY ME, I already made that decision. Then continued loud commotion with swearing and treating me like the annoying girl who purposely perplexed people. Which I wasn't. I was WORKING for FREEE.

So, when I finished the task, I got up I returned with the same energy my DISTASTE. Loud with swearing and my annoyance of things I've ignored for a while now. Demanded that I MUST be heard. Then left.

What was certain was that she wanted to disrespect me. Because with the begining altercation with the annoying girl, I swore in the meeting. Which the lady came to me upset thought I disrespected her when I swore. She thought I did it to her to disrespect her. Which I made clear wasn't the case and apologized. So for her to choose to swear at me with such a stance on swearing. It is VERY CLEAR that she wanted to disrespect me and didn't care.

Anyway I didn't return at ALL except to show my face to the other persons I knew and was friends with. Only when God said so or to say I'm alive and fine. But didn't linger much, didn't say anything to her other than in the general morning or evening greetings and LEFT. ONLY on Sunday God directed me to go there and use the WiFi. Then while using it God told me to update her on what's going on. Obviously she had her pride and her crutch and USED IT HARD at the beginning. But afterwards, we spoke. But still no apology. But we seem to be on talking terms. Which is where I'll leave it. If that's where she want it. I will NOT put myself in a situation where people can willingly and intentionally disrespect me. Obviously that's the case. Especially with the unwillingness to apologize. If God says she cares and is worried and maybe can't sleep well at night because she concerned. Fine. But I would go back to where we it was with the expectation to be disrespected. NO!

So I believe Rhona showed up thinking the same thing will apply to her. HA!!

You see the lady above chose pride but cared and slipped up then. So I had no issue being the first to try. But those fucking assholes of individuals Rhona & Raheem have had ENOUGH. So if they expected the same kind of treatment like last year or early this year; TOO FUCKING LATE!!!

You see I don't even see those FUCKING ASSHOLES as people who love or care about me. The lady in the story above have tried. She try to help. Try not to judge. Try to help guide. And listened to make sure I'm okay RIGHT THROUGHOUT. Even if she disagreed. Those assholes couldn't give a shit, if I was sick, hungry, hospitalized, missing, hurt or more. But God said.

But let me pretend I'm wrong and God is right about them. If that's the case, then those fuckers are LITERALLY dying inside. In fact, they're on the brink of of death. Actually Raheem, is on borrowed breath. He's on life-support and he knows it but CHOOSE to floss and act like he is GREAT, UNBOTHERED AND LIVING HIS BEST LIFE. He can't even do that right at this point. But why would I say that?

Well, if on Saturday night when I went to check on my stuff with the assistance of police officers. After they spoke with Nicholas who was comfortably watching TV. On my way back to the station:

(I won't even go into the parts where I shared I explained and they refuse to believe me; I digress)

After almost/a lil over 1 month with Nicholas. With no sex. His pain is SO visible. Then how he display it from frustration for NOT seeing me when he brought food to share with me on Monday and left. Maybe told the people who own the bar, angrily that I might gone a man Fi deh with them. Despite I already TOLD HIM, I had to disappear for a minute.

Then the dude who worked at the bar who likes me. But worked with it cause we have the same last name and struggle with that fact and his feelings is hurt by it/the assumed story. Then the dude who lied to himself who claimed to want to help but wanted MORE. He's hurt.

Then "JOHN" who I haven't spoke about for a while. I met in November last year. I fell for in late January. Then, he ask me to choose between him and who God said at the time. Then because I couldn't choose him (at the time) was hurt. Has BEEN hurt for months now. Then WORST the past few months when I'm out publicly dating men. Well WELL hurt.

Then there's apparently women. I think for a while cause I wasn't seen around men, people thought I was a Lesbian. So I sent to a place with Nicholas and saw subtle commotion like I hurt or shamed the girl security. Then Monday evening saw another female security I met before. I was surprised remembered me. But then saw energy change when she saw me enter the taxi with a guy and went by him (why I've been staying). Hearts just be breaking. Maybe more I don't seem to see.

So why wouldn't Raheem who God chose, said love me. Struggled when I was in 2020 and literally had CONSTIPATION from the struggle to choose, then. God, told me NOT to date for almost 2 years to preserve him and make sure the plan/promises are executed. See him and his mother struggle, upset or be bothered with the RUMOUR of me being involved with another person. I got threats of paralysis from God if I rejected Raheem. And this motherfucker NOT be the hurtest of hurts if God is right. 😂😂😂.

That asshole CAN'T SLEEP. MAYBE dreams of death to try to avoid the pain he's in. Then his mother who lost a great friend/best friend in a perfect, beautiful AWESOME and amazing daughter-in-law. Then to know, see, aware and FEEL the pain she KNOWS her son...no her one and ONLY child is in. She feeling it left right and center. But not as worst as he is.

But they chose & made their bed.

They can't do ALL that shit, especially when I TRIED on my own Accord or when insisted by God. Then they spat in my face then rub dog shit in it afterwards; metaphorically.

From about April to November 2021, it was a mixture of blocking, unblocking and more. Which was frustrating So from late October 2021 I was trying (as read in the thread above) Like:

Late October, she gave someone my number to reach out if they needed support in Canada. I was surprised. She didn't share any animosity between us so we assume she was reaching out. I tried to reciprocate by informing her I'm going to Jamaica and ask her for help. When that is help didn't work I brought it back to her. To see her cuss and tell me to ask other people. I arrived kept my distance but she had my stuff. I tried to get my stuff calmly. Then was met with rudeness. So I walked for my shit in hopes I'm done with them and their fuckery. As read above. She literally talk about knocking me out and killing me. Acting aggressive. I returned which sweats and say to come do it I don't care. I got my shit and left. For her to call someone. Telling them I was acting mad/crazy. Then imply they didn't go around me the year before or more. Causing more problems and such.

I went with the landlord, Dave, as mediator and TRIED to resolve things. Let him spoke first. Then tried the next day when she said to come by. He spoke to both. Then I tried to afterwards. No response from him or more fuckery and lies. She said she didn't like how I came to Jamaica and didn't say anything. Plus the disrespect from the swearing and commotion. This was Friday and Saturday.

The Sunday after my parents attacked. They went and join the commotion. Calling people and LIED. I heard her on the phone with my own EARS. I have it even recorded. Lying about my age. Saying my crazy/mentally ill. Saying I'm NOT Jamaican, despite knowing already that I am. All the fuckery my parents started she continue with. Which also led to the LEAVE ME ALONE video. Spreading some cock and bull shit.

I let them be. But Dec 4, 2021 God insisted I Acted Married/more married than I was. I wore a ring, didn't entertain anyone and said I was God-declared married. So I said fine. If I was married for real I would put in effort and try and try until I couldn't try anymore. So I went to their house. Then because of the commotion the last time I sat by the gate until acknowledged. I was there for 4 hours in sun, drizzling rain and more. Until given a coconut then told how I didn't say morning or any greeting. I didn't eat anything that morning because God insisted I must just GO! Plus they weren't all nice during those 4 hours. I heard in-between my music in my headset, commotion about if I ever did what I did before. Or if they'd put a sponge or some shit in the second unoccupied house. Basically trying to figure out why I came. Then rain came when they welcomed me in. Then me and Rhona spoke and seem to resolve things. Then I tried with Raheem and same fuckery; lies and more. Then it got worst. While TRYING with him. Calmly talking about the past. Or while he choose to lie, gaslight or act like it didn't happen. I chose to gave him a example. Gently touch his nose as he did the year before. To see if it was NOTHING as he claimed. He intentionally pushed me TWICE. Not caring what happened to me while I sat on a building block. Because of his act, I scrapped my foot against the block {that's the first and will be the last time he EVER intentionally harm me physically in any malicious intent. If he EVER attempts there WILL be SERIOUS consequences; I guarantee it. Or I won't even be near him for him to be able to can try}. At the end Rhona prayed. Reprimanded him but he got loud and aggressive talking about I taunted him. I stormed home and made the I'm Married...& I'm Going To Act Like It video.

Then I was in the hospital December 15, 2021 to January 8, 2022, because of my parent's FUCKERY. None of them showed up or called.

When I returned heard the following being spread around by her in the community: "I'm obsessed with her son and him happy with his girlfriend and Nuh want me..." "I am a mad/crazy woman wanted in Canada..." "I'mad person wanted by her parents..." So much more. Then rumours of the girl and Raheem getting married. Where I said, happy for them. Go ahead. They are ADULTS. If they want to Go ahead. It's God and them with that. Much more fuckery. Then heard how indirectly being ask WHAT IM BRINGING TO THE TABLE. (😂😂😂 I knew I was the whole FUCKING table then plus they knew it too. Bet they regret that shit) A whole bunch of FUCKERY.

There was a calm from her and his fuckery for some time. But then I started to like someone, "John". So I guess that's what shut them the FUCK up for a while.

Then I disappeared. due to the molestation. Then TRIED AGAIN, by going to their church to then be indirectly attacked by their church sister. Giving pointed rebuke from the podium. It's a small church.

Then when I TRIED AGAIN. After returning from Westmoreland spending $12,000 JMD to reach that Sunday night. To trust God tfor what he said. Sat at her door. To hear the latch close on me, ignored and homeless and NO bed you sleep on that night.

How many FUCKING CHANCES must they get. How much time must I fucking try. EXACT-FUCKING-LY.

If since then I found someone who LOVED me and even when we broke up made sure I had food. Shared EVERYTHING. If not him. Others can't fathom hearing I didn't eat. Other men making sure I'm fine. Even for one night. If I'm by their place come back it food. Thinks about what I may need and make sure I don't lack. Or Nicholas who sees my value that even when we're NOT together doesn't even not want to not be with me. The FUCK should I care or give them a chance.

PLUS, the only person seem to be showing up is Rhona. And as much as I think if I'm good with her instantly he's there. But here's the thing. I ain't marrying her. I ain't fucking her. She at some point will die. So resolving shit with her is second to him. Who I have to marry and live with for the rest of my FUCKING life, which is forever. THEN on top of shit he has treated me the FUCKING WORST than his disgusting asshole of a mother. So imagine him. I mean when I try, she at least softens or responds or at one point she came with her laptop to get me to fix it. I think trying, but in a very rude way. Maybe she doesn't know better. But at least she FUCKING TRIES.

So what does that make him. When his mother who is KNOWN to have a disgusting fucking attitude. Many know this. But she Tried, or reciprocate. Or let down her guard and admits she like me. I don't need much from her than to humble herself. Start the conversation with me and apologize.

While him, MOTHERFUCKING Raheem Akeem Romari Fucking Fowler, who's known to be the quiet, nice good guy. Has much much more he got to do. In fact. I don't even want to hear her, his fucking mother, try shit until he does. I mean I ain't marrying her. I don't NEED her, nor her friendship. Nor am I interested in one while I don't speak to Raheem. If I don't speak to him, I don't speak to her. I ain't going to be friend with her until he does what God said he wants, desires or needs. That means my requirements are valid. They weren't enough before. But now that I was allowed to be with someone and more. They are enough now...for now
