Samsung has long been leaked to be working on a device with the codename Win2 or Winner2 but it has been presumed it was simply the Galaxy Fold 2. The appearance of a Winner2 5G, however, suggests there might be two foldable devices in the making. According to the latest rumors, that second non-5G phone is actually a Galaxy Fold Lite 4G. The specs for this unexpected phone are still uncertain but it might a Frankenstein of hardware from the past 2 or 3 years. It would use Ultra-Thin Glass or UTG, of course, but the lack of 5G differentiates it from Samsung’s foldable phones. It might also mean that it won’t be using the Snapdragon 865 in it. That odd combination of specs is supposedly meant to push the price down to an unbelievable $1,099. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip, currently the most affordable in the foldable phone market, sells for $1,380. How Samsung will manage to make that possible is still a mystery but it could definitely work considering the base Galaxy S20 goes for $1,000 already. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxyfold #galaxyfold #samsunggalaxyfold2 #galaxyfold2 #samsunggalaxyfoldlite #galaxyfoldlite #4g #5g #snapdragon865 #usa #uk #india #iceland #rumors https://www.instagram.com/p/CAHTW8wg7XG/?igshid=1iqhr7ij6rjjc

DxOMark has just released their review of the Samsung Galaxy S20+’s camera system. Unlike the S20 Ultra – which uses pixel binning in the 108MP main sensor, the Galaxy S20+ uses a 12MP sensor with large 1.6µm pixels. This camera array has three other cameras, each dedicated to ultra wide (12MP), telephoto(24MP), and a depth sensor (0.3MP) for bokeh shots. The S20+ received an overall score of 118, made up of its photography score of 127 and its video score of 100. Its strength in still photos is attributed to its excellent exposure, wide dynamic range, vivid colors, and its brilliant ultra-wide camera. DxOMark saw great accurate exposure even in more challenging conditions and accurate white balance. It’s zoom capabilities aren’t as impressive. It’s 64MP zoom camera is used to crop an image from the scene, which can be good in bright lighting, but details are softer in medium and longer-range zoom shots. Portraits are strong, with convincing bokeh, though not good enough to earn the top score. Dynamic range for video is great outdoors, though not the best – but with high saturation. Details are high in 4K video, though it can be aggressive with sharpness. Autofocus adapts quickly and tracks objects well. Stabilization isn’t the best, but it does its job when shifting views. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_dxomark #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #dxomark #photography #64mp #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxys20plus #galaxys20plus #videography #video #potrait #dynamicrange #hdr #autofocus #4k #videostabilization #nightphotography #nightmode https://www.instagram.com/p/CAFa1ZggyPS/?igshid=102x8x7mxnacc

The Nintendo Switch uses NVIDIA’s Maxwell-based Tegra X1 SoC, the same component is found inside the latter’s Shield TV series which hasn’t received any improvement in the chip department. NVIDIA hasn’t really been focusing on consumer-grade ARM products so there’s a real possibility that it may not have a new SoC for Nintendo’s next switch. NVIDIA does have ARM SoCs based on Pascal and Volta architectures but they’re not consumer-facing solutions, they’re meant for autonomous vehicle driving systems. In the event that NVIDIA doesn’t have an off-the-shelf SoC, Nintendo would be forced to look elsewhere, and this is where Samsung and AMD would come in. AMD does have experience in manufacturing ARM processors itself so it could either invest in the IP itself or look for a partner that has significant experience in manufacturing ARM chipsets. Samsung would be the ideal partner as it has both the experience and scale to do that, it’s already one of the world’s leading producers of ARM processors. While Samsung has previously used custom cores for its premium chipsets, the company has given up on that, which means that its next top SoC could feature off-the-shelf IP from ARM, eliminating any performance concerns caused by its custom cores. That, coupled with ARM’s robust RDNA graphics hardware, could present the perfect solution for Nintendo’s next hybrid console. Sony has already selected AMD’s RDNA architecture for its next PlayStation and assuming that the graphics hardware transitions well to a hybrid solution, Samsung could end up scoring a big win in the console market by virtue of its partnership with AMD. Whether or not that ends up happening remains to be seen, but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_amd #techies_page_nintendoswitch #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #amd #radeon #amdradeon #chipsets #chip #nvidia #nvidiageforce #nvidiashield #nintendoswitch #nintendo #australia #usa #iceland #uk #india #france #austria #rome #germany #spain #italy https://www.instagram.com/p/B_-hGnuA8ZW/?igshid=8euo772nb5kv

The partnership between Samsung and AMD has allowed the latter’s graphics to be used on mobile devices such as smartphones. Astounding benchmark results Twitter user @Kaz9837 caught wind of Samsung’s first public testing of the RDNA GPU. Apparently, the developers had used the GFXBench to test out the new chip’s performance, and the results are jaw-dropping. The report shows off-screen results for both the Manhattan 3.1 and the Aztech (at high and normal settings). When compared with the Adreno 650 GPU, which is a component of the Snapdragon 865 chip Samsung currently uses, the difference is astounding. In the Manhattan test, the RDNA GPU scored at 181.8 frames-per-second (fps) while the Snapdragon 865’s Adreno 650 hits at only 123 fps. There is a noticeable 48% increase in the RDNA chip’s performance. For the Aztech results, the RDNA GPU scored 138.25 fps in normal settings and 58 fps in high settings. There is an increase of 158% and 190%, respectively, when compared to the Adreno 650’s 53.5 fps (normal) and 20 fps (high). The RDNA GPU vs. Snapdragon 865 and Apple’s A13 The Adreno 650 is a component of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865, and as indicated above, there is no competition. The RDNA chip is more powerful than the Snapdragon 865. Those figures are only the results of initial testing. However, the RDNA GPU could already wipe the floor with Apple’s A13 chip. The A13 is said to be the industry’s most powerful processor to date. Who knows just how powerful the RDNA chip will be when it is released and how it would compare to the rumored A14 chip. Surely, the RDNA chip will put Samsung Galaxy smartphones on an even playing field with Apple’s iPhone. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_amd #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #amd #rdna #gpu #cpu #apple #a13 #snapdragon865 #qualcomm #mediatek #iphones #samsunggalaxys20plus #galaxys20ultra #samsunggalaxys20ultra #galaxys20plus #samsunggalaxys20 #galaxys20 #australia #benchmarks #canada #iceland #usa #uk https://www.instagram.com/p/B_-fERsA_ql/?igshid=1di9czmengd6v

After implementing a countrywide lockdown in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian government has begun to slowly lift its restrictions. These measures forced manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo to temporarily suspend their smartphone production but with the eased restrictions all four are getting back to normal working conditions. Samsung India issued a statement where it confirmed smartphone production in its Noida factory has already been restarted in limited capacity. Xiaomi also confirmed its manufacturing partner Foxconn has been granted a green light to resume its operations at its Andhra Pradesh facility. Oppo is also eyeing to resume operations in its Greater Noida factory while fellow BBK Electronics member vivo has confirmed it resumed operations at 30% capacity in its factory. April was one of the toughest months for the Indian smartphone market in recent memory as analyst firms like Counterpoint Research are reporting that there were virtually no smartphone shipments in the country. Predictions are that May will also see weak demand and Q2 as a whole will be quite rough for the industry. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_xiaomi #techies_page_oppo #techies_page_vivo #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #xiaomi #mi #redmi #vivo #oppo #manufacturing #industry ##q2 #covid19 #bbk #bbkelectronics #smartphone #india #china #japan #switzerland #iceland #usa #uk #canada https://www.instagram.com/p/B_9_cJqgtWc/?igshid=y2juba4a1ylu

Samsung is pulling an Apple for its fifth Samsung Pay anniversary. The company has just revealed plans to release its own "elevated" payment experience: A debit card. The new card will be backed by a "cash management account" through partner company SoFi — notably, not a bank, according to SoFi itself. These "cash management accounts" are actually brokerage accounts provided through yet another third-party: Wilmington Savings Fund Society. It's a complex chain that may have gaps in FDIC coverage until it lands in that remote account, three companies separated from you. The addition of a card rounds out Samsung's existing Samsung Pay portfolio, which already offers contactless payments via both NFC and MST, and even its own rewards system — at this point, all that was missing was a self-branded card or bank account, which this change will add. Samsung plans on introducing its new debit card later this summer, with more details arriving in the coming weeks, and no word yet on which markets might get it. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_samsungpay #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsungdebitcard #debitcard #debitcards #card #nfc #samsungpay #banks #mst #apple #bankaccount #australia #austria #hungary #iceland #usa #uk #switzerland #denmark #france #russia #vietnam #india https://www.instagram.com/p/B_5XBQ8AxsA/?igshid=mu8xure05m39

A company called Largan Precision, specializing in providing lens modules for smartphones, has revealed its financial report for April, as well as expectations for the upcoming quarter. According to the data, the monthly decline in orders for smartphone cameras is 14%, while on a yearly basis it is about 6%. The predictions for the April-June period of 2020 are not bright at all. Samsung has reduced its orders by 30%, Oppo has done the same, while Xiaomi is sticking to “mere” 10-20% reduction. In the same time, industry insiders revealed Huawei actually increased its orders by about 5-10%, which is due to the stabilization of the domestic market where Huawei is the undisputed leader. Largan revealed this will lead to revenues slipping as early as May, even if the January-April numbers account for NT$17.9 billion (nearly $600 million), or about 20% more than last year’s four-month period. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #xiaomi #oppo #huawei #realme #australia #austria #canada #iceland #usa #uk #germany #france #larganprecision #iceland #switzerland #hungary #denmark #italy #spain #romania #rome #insiders #europe #malaysia https://www.instagram.com/p/B_2RmYnAd6u/?igshid=1ggkg5jpnqek8

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is tied for second in DxOMark’s selfie camera tests. With a score of 100, it is three points behind the Huawei P40 Pro and even with the Huawei nova 6 5G. The Ultra is only a point ahead of the Galaxy Note10+ 5G, despite much improved hardware (which suggests that the software needs tuning). The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a unique front camera in the line-up with a large 1/2.65” sensor with 40MP resolution (0.7µm pixels) and a Quad Bayer filter. This camera operates in two modes – with 32mm focal length when shooting selfies of just yourself (outputting 6.5MP images) and 25mm for selfies with two or more people or when recording videos (outputting 10MP photos and up to 4K/60fps videos). The change in focal length is achieved with a simple crop and simulates having two cameras on the front (but without the need for dual punch holes). The photo score of 104 places the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra in third place in that category, behind the two Huaweis. Detail, noise levels, exposure, dynamic range and bokeh rendering are all excellent. The Phase Detection autofocus proved reliable at keeping your handsome mug in focus at different distances. The S10+ had a depth sensor, but it’s absence hasn’t affected the phone’s ability to render shallow depths of field. Where the Ultra falls short from the top is the color balance, with inaccurate skin tones in some scenarios and a tinted white balance. Selfies using the screen flash could have been better too, reports the team at DxOMark. The selfie camera perform better in the video tests, earning a score of 95 – matching the P40 Pro and a couple of points ahead of the nova 6. The PDAF was found to be sluggish in some cases and the color rendering is again not quite perfect, but for the most part, the phone is produces videos with excellent video quality. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page_dxomark #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxys20ultra #galaxys20ultra #dxomark #video #camera #selfiecamera #photography #photo #photos #dynamicrange #focus #stabilization #colors #videorecording #usa #uk #canada #australia #germany #europe #india #iceland https://www.instagram.com/p/B_1dJAAAgu1/?igshid=ys75py7g0xcj

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is now available in White in Europe as well, following its debut in China. The color is officially known as Cloud White. Here it is on Samsung Germany, priced at €1,150 (same as the other colors). There is a limitation you need to be aware of, this color is only available for the 12/128GB version. If you want the 512GB storage, you have to go with the Black version. This is similar to the deal in China where it sells for CNY 10,000 with 256GB storage (the 512GB model comes in Grey only). For now at least, those are the only two locations that seem have it, it’s nowhere to be seen in North America and most of Europe, not even in South Korea. The smaller S20 and S20+ are also available in Cloud White, but only in select regions. For example, in Spain the Galaxy S20+ Cloud White is an online exclusive. Italy has both the S20 and S20+ in white, but not the S20 Ultra. Of course, the smaller models have many other colors to choose from while the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is up to a grand total of three color options (the other two being Black and Grey). . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxys20ultra #galaxys20ultra #samsunggalaxys20plus #galaxys20plus #samsunggalaxys20 #galaxys20 #cloudwhite #white #europe #china #usa #uk #iceland #denmark #india #canada #argentina #brasil #cny #black #s20 #s20plus #s20ultra https://www.instagram.com/p/B_yvoG-AGnW/?igshid=15hf6hnhahtyy

From now on, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will only receive quarterly security updates. This means that instead of getting a new security patch every month, updates will be bundled and released every three months. The S8 duo is three years old now, having been released in April 2017. Originally, it ran Android 7.0 Nougat and has since been updated to Android 9 Pie with One UI (the original version). An Android 10 update is not coming. For comparison, Samsung ended support for 2016’s Galaxy S7 duo last month, after they spent two years getting monthly updates and two years on the quarterly schedule. Samsung originally wanted to end support for the S7 phones a year ago, but reconsidered and went on releasing updates for 10 more months. So, you can expect that your Galaxy S8 or S8+ will be supported at least until 2021. . . . . #techies_page_samsung #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #samsung #samsunggalaxy #samsunggalaxys8 #galaxys8 #samsunggalaxys8plus #galaxys8plus #updates #softwareupdate #softwareupdates #update #android10 #androidnougat #oneui #samsunggalaxys7 #galaxys7 #samsunggalaxys7edge #galaxys7edge #australia #usa #uk #iceland #canada #southkorea #switzerland #germany https://www.instagram.com/p/B_xHPuUgLNZ/?igshid=31iw3nhnfupo

Samsung announced its quarterly results last week, and today it revealed how much of the income is going back into research and development activities. Quoted by Yonhap Agency, Samsung has spent KRW5.36 trillion (around $4.36 billion) on R&D only between January and March 2020. The investment has surpassed the previous internal record of KRW5.32 trillion, which was set back in Q1 2018. The figure Samsung reported equals 9.7% of its sales in total, slightly more than the 9.6% investments twelve months ago.
