Tech wasn’t allowed to have his datapad in the interrogation room. His commlink and blasters had also been confiscated for the time being. Not that he wanted his commlink at hand. Admittedly, he’d spent the last two weeks avoiding answering the calls that came through unless it was from a commanding officer, their mission coordinator, or a squadmate. Tech might have felt ashamed for dodging the attempts Echo made to learn the reason for his fears, if other more pressing matters hadn’t taken precedence. 

The increasing urge to do something — to rip out his jagged hangnails; to scratch deep gouges into the back of his hands; to chew on his thumb until it bled — was difficult to ignore. He tried bouncing his leg. He tried sitting on his hands and curling his toes until aches shot through his feet. Not that it helped much. It wasn’t enough to shake the restless energies from his limbs. Tech started counting the bland and not-quite-sterile tiles that lined the room from corner to corner.

It was a minimal relief when the door opened.

“You seem nervous, trooper,” General Windu said sharply, his tone somewhat unforgiving, as he swept into the room amid a swirl of dark brown robes that seemed practiced. It might have been an attempt to intimidate or discombobulate him before questioning. General Windu settled into one of two available chairs opposite Tech and Senator Organa took the other, the latter appearing serene compared to the first. “Got something to hide?”
