The growing transphobic atmosphere we're observing across the country, but especially in red states, appears to be creating especially dangerous environments in small towns and remote areas. When traveling, we often have no choice but to stop for gas in smaller communities. There was a time when my partner's kilt turned heads, but most folks minded their own business. Now, people are more bold with stares, comments, and outright hostility.

I feel that there is a rapidly growing potential for danger and actual harm to us. We can try to protect ourselves by shrinking away and making ourselves smaller, less us. Or we can continue to simply exist in public exactly as we are and risk harm.

I don't have a call to action or a solution or even something hopeful to say about it. I'm tired. I'm worried. I'm afraid.

How could they pull from Scottish punks and end up at that final result? Not even a pseudo kilt silhouette like how Kiriko has a pseudo Miko Shrine Maiden garments silhouette? Hazard should have had pushed shapes (sell the turtle aspect more, add more spikes) and more body mods (funky prosthesis or punk body mods, the lizard/snake man punks are free inspo).

For a punk 'freak' hero that uses bright graffiti, his design is much too plain and 'safe' imo, not colorful enough. I much prefer that cartoon icon we saw in Venture's trial because he does look really punk with a metal jaw and green hair, possibly cool yellow shades too?

When I first saw Hazard's official design I honestly thought it was a Rein skin. I just hope future skins for Hazard are more punky. JunkerQueen and Zarya both have rather punk-y skins, and Lucio has a concept art based skin, so I am hoping for something more "out there" and fun for Hazard.

Punk is not, and has not, ever been 'conventionally attractive and palatable' and with Hazard's backstory, him being intentionally 'outlandish' would have only reinforced his outlook and story.

Like, people don't love Rein because he's eye candy, they like the hero fantasy of a big knight, being a shield, that he fights for others bravely. People don't love Doomfist because he's eye candy, they love him because his mechanics are hard to perfect but rewarding to land, and his sophisticated antagonist plotline is super engaging, and the hero fantasy of a big powerful genius with a giant fist is badass!

But Hazard? He's eye candy, sure. Got some piercings, but so does JunkerQueen. Plain black leather jacket and pants... okay but Young Cass and Ashe in general do that too. Hell, a young Tracer(in the comics she had a very punk hairstyle) was way more punk than Haz was as a teen. I don't understand why they didn't PUSH his punk design further, when we have characters like Roadhog and JunkerQueen on the roster already. Hazard is very conventional for an overwatch design, he looks like he could be a side character in a gang instead of a main hero... Boomslang(viper Phreaks member) atleast has interesting shapes on her design! The Junkers are scrappy and DIY-low end tech (scrap guns, explosives, knives) survivalists, so imo the Phreaks could have been like a Sombra-version of Junkers, cyberpunk but WAY WAAAAY more out there with wild body mods and DIY high end tech (plasma weapons, energy swords, multiple arms, etc). I did peep a retractable energy sword from Hazard in the cinematic but why not just build a nonretractable sword into his base design instead? He already has a gun arm (like Orisa).

I really do think the metal jaw would have made Hazard instantly recognizable, but man, atleast keep the toxic green spiky hair!!! Haz is brunette, so why choose blonde as the 'punk' color when his body shape is already so similar to Reinhardt? Doomfist already has a "one arm is a weapon" so that's not Hazard's iconic detail, Mauga is already shirtless so that's out as an iconic detail, and the crystal spikes aren't nearly present enough in his design to make it out like that is his iconic 'thing' imo. Meanwhile, look at JunkerQueen: she is somehow MORE punk than Hazard who is intentionally being punk. And even then, I think people forget JunkerQueen has mag tornado powers in her gauntlet. Many Overwatch 2 heroes struggle with visually telling the players what a hero is/does via the design. And don't even get me started on Venture's nonsensical jacket design lol. Juno and Hazard feel like the designs where 'simplified' from concept art so that making skins for them would be easier. Juno looked better with the armor pieces, and Hazard would look better with green hair and a metal jaw.

That wasn't the last session, huh? Well, next is got to be the Finale... While we are waiting, how about some Red Skin models? Most of them are simple recolours... Since I still don't know how to link art pieces directly, I will keep doing the second closest thing, until someone teaches me how to give credit, without bothering actual artists with me pushing sliders around in Hero Forge... Scarlet Pearl model was made by taking inspiration from @applestruda 's "DL Pearl Design" and @heavyhandedhex and their "some Pearlescentmoon outfits!" concept... Also, Death from Puss in Boots was a pose reference... I've got very lucky that Hero Forge already had a moon-shaped sickle... Huge thanks to @tibby-art for his GeminiSlay interpretation that served as a fundament for this model... Oh, and I've found the way to put buns and a flower on Gem's head! The trick is to use broken horns... Horn-tech is gonna revolutionize my modeling... Why is Impulse and Scott in kilts?! He-he, "Gem and the Scots"... *Crickets* Does HumanCleo count as their Red Skin? For me, yes... Here is Etho teaching them the zombie dance... RRRRUUUUAAARRRGGGHHH... Scar and BigB were the most straightforward... But with BigB I've had the most fun, coming up with things he can hold, and every one of them being hysterical in combination with his menacing face...

yeah, i think connor's reaction to logan's body is very much connected to his cryogenics thing. like, the premise of cryo is that by preserving the body you can also, potentially, in the future, preserve the soul or mind or essence, however you wanna put that. basically, there's no real difference between a dead body and a living one, besides whatever accident of biomechanics caused the vital functions to stop. so connor looks at logan's body and sees it as, basically, still logan; it still has an identity to connor. this is why he cares about the kilt and is able to deal with funeral home arrangements and look at the body, whereas roman and kendall find it more horrifying (kind of an uncanny valley thing). roman has a fixation on the body but has to mediate it through sacred objects (leaving his jacket on the jet, carrying around logan's sweater and advil) whereas kendall doesn't go to see the body at all and pivots into new tech immortality fantasies. i think you can definitely connect this to connor wanting napoleon's penis, as he essentially sees it as still being imbued with the masculinity bullshit whatever that he admires in napoleon. and him buying logan's apartment is almost him trying to step into logan's life—not by consuming logan('s pills) or wearing logan('s sweaters) but by taking his place.

Big Butch Talks Movies: Tron: Legacy 2010 (rewatch)

“Tron: Legacy” directed by Joseph Kosinski

General likes -> The viiiibeee! Soundtrack (Daft Punk y’all killed it), visuals and again, visuals. Yes, this is a movie made in 2010 but I think the action scenes (the lightcycles and disc fighting) hold up especially well. I also thought it was cool they brought back the original actors from the 1982 movie! The end of the line club scene, very iconic very fun.

General dislikes -> The born sexy yesterday trope perfectly exemplified by Olivia Wilde’s Quorra. Also the bananas sexualization of women esp as something apparently rated PG?

Ramble/disorganized thoughts -> Some of the cgi looks . . Iffy so if that kinda thing makes you unable to watch (weak sauce) then ig stay clear my dear. (very much Clu’s face being the biggest offense)

Ending thoughts -> Would I recommend this movie? Sure! It’s nothing deep but if you love a fun aesthetic and daft punk with a sci fi aesthetic, it’s fun.

Detailed synopsis (INCLUDES SPOILERS) -> Do you like seeing ppl do motorcycle stunts, electronic music and monochromatic aesthetics? Then do I have a movie for you. Open on some backstory yadda yadda there’s a tech company and a missing dad, let’s ride some motorcycles and do crime about it ! Cillian Murphy is here too which is fun. Young Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) is not happy about how ENCOM is being ran and trespasses about it, one of his dad’s old friends bails him out of jail so he decides to trespass more and gets downloaded into the Grid, a virtual reality that’s realer than he thinks. Sweeping visuals, fun soundtrack, shallow worldbuilding but at 10 and again at 22 I ate it up so it’s a pretty fun time. He’s captured and sent to the Games where we get introduced to a masked villain Rinzler who beats Ass and makes our hero bleed, outing him as a User (a trait he’s gonna have to be kilt because of) but he is rescued by a disciple of his dad! Quorra! Discs=lives so remember that. Asymmetrical hair they are not playing about the aesthetic people! Anyway, his dad isn’t dead so that’s fun, and they gotta do some adventure. Michael Sheen is here and double crosses our heroes but don’t worry the dad saves ‘em. The dad’s disc gets taken bc of aforementioned double-crossing and turns out Quorra is like . . . Made out of data . . And the last of her kind . . And perfect and beautiful and naive . . So that’s. Great. But whatever, our trio are trying to make sure Clu doesn’t take over the real world and Rinzler remembers he’s Tron and tries to kill Clu but Flynn (Jeff Bridges) (dad) makes his move and reintegrates with Clu and sacrifices himself so Quorra and Sam can live in the real world, first ever Real sunrise end movie.

Masculine and Non-Feminine Pink Academia

While this is a very "feminine" space, as someone who isn't always a girl (she/they btw!), I understand the struggle of being a non-girl and wanting to find your place among the girlies. Hopefully I have some useul ideas for you, ranging from non-feminine women, men, and nonbinary inspiration.

Characters

Non-Feminine Women - Cady Heron, Mean Girls. I know a character from the girly movies Holy Trinity seems like a weird start, but of course, Cady's journey is one if jumping in too far and losing her tomboyish nature. But, at the end, her style reflects the positive aspects of her journey by being a better-fitting and a little bit more trendy, but the outfit is still just a casual top and jeans which doesn't necessarily have a gendered association. And, of course, she's an iconic academic character as a mathlete.

-Connie Maheswaren, Steven Universe. Connie's style evolves from a pretty billowy dress to a cute button-up and shorts. Connie loves reading, studying, and swordfighting and has a style that can go between masculine and feminine.

-Spinelli, Recess. I'd say most people who know me know that I am the way I am because of the Ashleys, but Spinelli is good inspo too. She's only an academic in secret, but her over-sized t-shirt as a sort-of dress toes the line between gender presentation. It's dress-like, but probably also a hand-me-down from her older brother, and is shapeless enough for the androynous=shapeless trend.

- Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice. Even as a fancy lady in the regency era, she's still more likely to be found on romps in the mud, even if that'd be 'most unladylike.' Personally, if I were in charge of a modern interpretation, I think she'd be a dungarees/overalls kind of girl. One of my favourite interpretations is in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries where she's a tech intern.

Men - Nick Young, Crazy Rich Asians. I love a man passionate about his culture, preserving history, and snazzy dressing. Since he's richer than God,he does dress like Daddy's Little Rich Boy, but it's a classic look for a reason.

- Todd Anderson, Dead Poets Society. SO, DPS is a stable of Dark Academia, but I'm borrowing Todd for the Pink girlies because he felt overlooked for most of his life, and then discovered his romantic, poetic side. It feels like a very Pink theme to me.

-Ryan Evans, High School Musical. Ryan and Sharpay had their style game at maximum for all three movies, and Ryan truly is a bright pink-wearing king who co-ordinated down to a hat- the only person who can get away with a fedora, except, like, Perry the Platypus.

Nonbinary Characters - Frankie Stein, Monster High. The new version of Frankie now uses they/them pronouns! Their presentation in the new movie seems to go between feminine and androgynous, and their style is like school uniform punk- related, I think Frankie would totally have the Vivienne Westwood pin.

-Aziraphale and Crowley, Good Omens. In the Good Omens 'verse, angels and demons don't actually have gender, and Aziraphale and Crowley's looks are jut personal to them. Aziraphale has a flamboyant, cream-toned masculine vibe, while Crowley's dark wardrobe changes gender presentation with him. They embody the abolish gender vs make more dynamic.

- Cal, Sex Education. I'm totally late to the Sex Education party, so I don't know much about them, but it is so exciting to see what looks like good rep in a high school setting, because I wish I'd had more of that when I was in school!

Fashion and Presensation

So, the classic PA sillhouette is, of course, the shirt under a jumper, a pink plaid skirt, tights or stockings, pink high heels, and decorate with pearls. Let's see what we can do to make this less stereotypically feminine.

- Plaid trousers/pants exist and are wonderful. An easy find is always a plaid or similar-patterned paperbag trousers- which I think can be used to alter your shape at the hips, if you want to do that. - Longer or more kilt-style skirts tend to have a more gender-neutral or masculine association compared to their shorter counterparts. - Secret trousers!! These are my favourite thing- a pair of trousers/pants that look like a skirt when standing still feels like the best of both worlds to me. -As mentionned with Spinelli, an oversized t-shirt or shirt worn like a dress can create a shapeless, androgynous sillhouette if so disired, or be cynched in with a belt to add another dimension to an outfit.
