relatively positive news surrounding the vice captain as it is revealed the suspected toe injury is not something to particularly worry about. “romero, i think nothing too serious, so hopefully still a chance for the weekend.”

being asked for updates on the injuries, ange postecoglou began with a brief update on van de ven, who came off injured against man city, visibly upset and appearing to clutch his hamstring. the dutch defender has been ruled out of sundays vital clash against aston villa. “the main one out of that one [wednesdays match] is micky. he has strained a hamstring, it’s not too serious but probably after the international break for him.”

“he was disappointed, obviously. he was really looking forward to the game, so he was a bit emotional. it’s definitely not a bad one like last time that kept him out for quite a while. he’ll work hard, and good thing is we have the international break in there, that’s an extra two weeks for us, so it hopefully means he doesn’t miss too much football.”

ೄྀ࿐ cristian romero + timo werner ˊˎ-

after wednesdays match, postecoglou let us know romero was merely rather fatigued and the substitution was indeed precautionary, while werner had gone down holding his right leg. one again, postecoglou stated he believed it was ‘more fatigue’ than anything else. the pair have not yet been ruled out, few words were spoken of them but it may be assumed they will be fine. “the other ones who were a bit sore were romero and werner, but at the moment there’s still a chance for the weekend.”

ೄྀ࿐ heung-min son ˊˎ-

the tottenham skipper will be assessed closer to the game, having only returned to training friday morning. postecoglou is hopeful we will have him back. “sonny trained today, so if he gets through training tomorrow he should be okay.”
