well........lol........updates? i guess?

So. I know I've pretty much dropped off the face of the planet on this account and then attempted to come back a couple of times and then absolutely failed to be active. No guarantees this time either LOL. But I figured I'd at least put up a post to explain what the hell I've been doing for the past.....I don't know actually....year maybe? Year and a half? Time is fake.

Anyway here's the update overview:

I'm working on a new thing lol

More detail under the cut if you're curious, haha! But the moral of the story here is, I'm incredibly grateful to anyone who's still around here, and hope I can stay active enough that I can reconnect with y'all and/or make new friends~

Tea Cow is done! Yeah. I actually finished it LOL. Multiple times. It's had three drafts now. I had it beta read multiple times (thank you to the lovely people I found on here who volunteered to read it—I owe y'all my life!) and edited it a bunch of times. It's basically unrecognizable from the original draft, but much stronger, and I'm very proud of it.

I queried Tea Cow! It's been about ~3 months since I started querying at the end of May. I received a couple requests which was very exciting, but ultimately most agents passed. I'm waiting for some responses to still come in, but ultimately I think I'm going to have to shelve this project for now—if just for my sanity. But I'm still very proud of it!

I'm working on a new WIP, with the tentative moniker AppleJuice. I have no idea if I'm going to stick to it, but it's helping me through this tail end of the querying process and making it a little bit more bearable to get through all these rejections. Partly why I'm trying to revive this account is I'm hoping to post more of this project once I'm farther along!

I have no idea if any of my mutuals are still around on here, and I've unfortunately completely lost track of my tag list, so I'm sort of considering this a fresh start (think that time that I restarted 3ish years ago with Tea Cow, lmao). I hope if anyone is still here, or if anyone is interested, y'all can swing by and say hi :)

Simply wanted to draw a Jon. It's been a while. And it felt wrong not to add a Martin. thinking about Jonathan "I dont want to become a mystery" Sims who's only legacy is a disembodied voice enacting the one thing that brought forth their inhumanity, and a title thrust upon them that doesn't care for the person it has marked and maligned in favour of voyeuristic hubris.

It hurt that Mason looked different. It hurt more than Ruby thought it would, even after she’d done her best not to look him in the eye. But the dining table was only so big, and there were only so many places she could set her gaze. She focused on a spot a little to the left of his nose, but that didn’t stop her from glimpsing the rest of him. Her brain snuck in the details: his neat new cut for his brown hair, his square shoulders, his sharp near-black eyes and angular face. He looked older and…worldlier. Like he’d actually gone out and lived.

“Hey,” he said softly, and it was a relief that his voice was still the same, even if she’d already heard it from the hallway. “It’s been a while.”

“Yeah,” Ruby managed.

Eyes

Iom’ren turned his head to look at Grilled. Those eyes. In the ringslight, Iom’ren’s eyes and Noklopan facial jewels shone like stars. Aloutia’s stars, pink and pure, the essence of goodness. The starlight which everyone wished would glitter upon each other’s paths. Yet those eyes held nothing but pain. Sorrow. A tear fell down his cheek, diverted by the jewels, and fell upon the fresh snow at the same moment a drop of blood fell from the quillon. Grilled wanted to say something—anything—but what does one say to a soul bearing such powerful, striking eyes?

Disney, Starbucks and Mcdonald's all had their stocks plummet to all-time lows this month, yet suddenly all of their stocks have now skyrocketed again at the same exact time (with Starbucks rising by 11%??), even though call for boycotts are stronger and louder than ever? Sounds like someone is lying about these new stocks numbers as propaganda to discourage people from boycotting them, almost like they're saying: "Why bother boycotting us when it doesn't even affect our sales anyways? Just come back already <3"

Either that or them selling their products for dirt-cheap helped temporarily rise their stocks for the time being, either ways don't stop boycotting these genocide supporters.

Call for Beta Readers: The Composition of Us

Hello everyone!!! I'm so excited to announce that my adult contemporary book that explores aromanticism, asexuality, and chronic illness (103k words, 2nd draft) is ready for beta readers! If you've been following me for a while, you might know this project as tea cow, or TCOU.

In case you need a refresher or you're new here, this is my elevator pitch:

"Ruby Wang is a career woman determined to keep her work first priority. However, after a particularly bad bout of dizziness, she loses her job and begrudgingly returns to her hometown, only to find herself pulled into the messy love life of her childhood best friend. The Composition of Us uses the building blocks of traditional romance to explore aromantic & asexual identity, friendship, family, and chronic illness."

I'm currently looking for up to 5 beta readers who can read through my manuscript and offer me feedback by Sunday, April 30, 2023, with some flexibility if needed. I will be choosing readers on March 19, 2023 and then accepting additional readers if needed on a rolling basis thereafter.

Note: I’ve started this months ago and have currently drawn both ocs to a large extent. However, I’m far from finished and may spend a couple more months to work on it.

Sleeves are the bane of my existence.

Along with many other things in my drawing experience.

The main issue however is the fact that the piece is made with numerous layers that hold artwork pieces that are specifically drawn to fit the proportions.

If I needed to move one oc, I’d have to carefully move the entire jigsaw puzzle, piece by piece.

The whole thing started because I’ve wanted to challenge myself and I’ve wanted to draw someone’s oc in pixel art.
