In ROTI it pissed me off immensely that people referred to B as his legal name even though he clearly didn't like it. I know it was mostly done as an insult and I don't know, just rubs me the wrong way. Might just be because I headcanon him as trans but even if he wasn't, it's just disrespectful

Hey there! This is my take on a TDROTI swap AU. I wanted to mainly switch their concepts/interests rather than entire personalities; they’re pretty much like the character’s version of that trope. For example, Lightning takes B’s role as an engineer, but maintains his loud and egotistical personality, making him an eccentric inventor type. Their personalities haven’t swapped, but some of their traits may have changed!

It's not that I don't enjoy good fiction, I have recently binge watched all of Mamoru Hosoda's movies, which are all really brilliant. But here's the thing, I watch it, I go "yup, that was great" and then I'm satisfied with myself and I never talk about it ever again

You know what has gotten me to yap and rant for the past 12 years of my life though ? Total Drama.

And all things considered : The reboot was alright !

The grand continuation of the Island reimagining.

I wanted to go all out and extend the cast to a solid 24, but there are only 45 or so other contestants (and Blaineley, but her specific case is kinda hard to replicate). There is one character I could put in a supporting role and add back in later but…

Anywho, Revenge, Pahkitew, and the reboot have their casts split between them across two seasons. Revenge stays together alongside two OCs and nine PI and I2 contestants, all undetermined. With that out of the way:

The Friendship Finale F’trio. Aside from Cameron’s bead eyes it’s all a matter of stylization instead of an outright redesign, although Zoey’s sporting a neat tattoo.

Most of Mikey’s alters are a little more down to earth in their characterization, seeing as they all would’ve had to manifest in several very different parts of the world to exist as they do. Mal instead goes from relatively normal to halfway between Izzy and Scary on the energy scale. Mike himself dials up his awkwardness.

Zoey and Cam are more or less the same, although their mutual lack of social skills are played up.

These three don’t really need changing either, although between Heather’s alliance growing from three to five in the Island concept and the canon reboot having three full time antagonists, I’m looking into Jo being a more active villain.

Aaaand this is the point I kinda got experimental with the redesigns. Lightning’s bead eyes, B’s neck, and whatever I did with Scott’s face are all one thing, it’s mostly Dawn and how I did to her what I did to Cody.

It’s funny how the eyes that canon Staci has make her look high all the time. Remember, TDRI’s getting a full length so Staci gets fleshed out a bit more before she inevitably gets Zeked. Again, Dakota and Sam need relatively little changing, but Dakota at least won’t be mutated this time.

oh one of my dearest old headcanons for tdroti was when the cast was announced knock off merchandisers immediately got to work after the success of gen 1 and mass produced shitty little button pins of each contestant with the photos either poorly cropped promotional material or straight up personal photos of their faces from the internet

dakota already keeping an eye on her publicity finds them and goes wow these are the ugliest things ive ever seen. and buys the cast an entire pack

everyone gets a pin of their own face and while some people (scott) immediately threw it out some have been traded around or kept in their bags because come on theyre funny looking. there's an ongoing competition to see who can keep brick's the longest. mike gives zoey his pin instead of that terrifying necklace. b has managed to accumulate atleast 3 of his face and they dont know how.
