2, 20, 23, 29 for the fanfic asks !! take care 💙
ahh thank you so much! (you take care, too! 💙)
2. do you read/reread your own fics?
i do! i used to not, but i started re-reading last year.
20. whats a favourite title for a fic you’ve written?
i like the things you tame, my kitsune story! it’s from this little prince quote: “you become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed.” i love the little prince but i also feel the idea behind that quote could be interpreted in a somewhat sinister light. that’s more-or-less what the things you tame is about — like that very claustrophobic idea of love. love as ownership and obligation. one of my favourite themes fgdkngfd.
23. how do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?
i usually end them if there’s a pov shift, so that’s super easy. if not i change then if the action feels conclusively finished, which is a bit vibes-based.
29. share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR a scene that was cut from an already posted fic
this is from my canadian au (hand me your hand & fics to come) and i’m never going to post it because i ended up taking the fic in a completely different direction. (light and L’s relationship originally looked idyllic but was in fact toxic and horrible. everyone i discussed this with hated it and i also hated writing it gjkjgfjlgfh so now it’s just a good relationship.)
putting this under a readmore & also flagging that it had some implications of disordered eating. this takes place right after L and light have a horrible fight at a cottage they’ve rented with beyond and several other friends. a G1 is basically a learner’s license — you can only drive if you’re accompanied by a fully licensed driver.
Beyond can see L across the yard, walking fast. He bolts to catch up, then slows once he’s coming up behind L.
“Where are you going?” he asks. He’s breathing hard. L doesn’t break stride.
“I’m hungry,” he says.
“Oh.” L isn’t looking at him. He isn’t looking at anything, really. “Can I come?”
“No.”
Beyond doesn’t really care. He was just asking to be polite. He’s fairly sure L shouldn’t be left alone right now; he doesn’t know what’s going on, whether he’s in danger or just profoundly unhappy, but he knows there should be someone there to witness him. He carries on walking until L finally sighs and runs his hands through his hair.
“Fine,” he snaps. “Okay. Sure. You can come.”
They’re coming up to the car. L yanks the door open, then waves B in. “Do you have a license.”
“Um. It’s a G1.”
“Wonderful,” L says. “I’ll be your instructor.” He digs the keys out of his pocket and tosses them to B, who fumbles but catches them. There’s a strawberry charm hanging off of them. L climbs in and over the gears to the passenger seat, where he buckles himself in and curls up with the side of his face pressed against the window, looking miserable.
B stares at him. “I’m not good at driving.”
“Drive slow,” L says. B gets in, straps on his seatbelt, then considers the gearshift very carefully.
“Turn on the ignition,” L tells him. “Oh.” B puts his key in the ignition, then turns it. “Um.”
“Put it in reverse,” L says. B does. “Amazing. Check your mirrors, then press the gas.”
To his surprise, L actually does instruct him, and fairly well. He does so with his head against the glass and his fingers tugging hard at his hair, but he does it. He is patient, and he speaks in a slow, soothing monotone regardless of how badly B drives, coaxing him gently away from the median and not getting the least bit upset when B misses the same turn twice. It’s probably the smoothest driving B has ever done. He does not, however, tell B where they’re going, so it is both unexpected and entirely predictable when they arrive in the parking lot of a No Frills.
“Just pull into a space that’s empty on both sides,” L tells him. “That way you won’t have to back out later.”
B does this, then turns to him. “Are we buying groceries?”
What he really wants to say is, maybe we shouldn’t. Maybe we could just go somewhere else, like a park, or a movie theatre, somewhere L could wait and calm down a little. He doesn’t say that. He looks at L, whose jaw is set and whose eyes are utterly blank, until L gets out of the car, and then he follows after.
#ask meme#thank you!!!!!! <3#tbh i still think the original concept of this fic was good but it suffered from being unpleasant to the point of unreadability#animal games is less harsh but it’s really similar thematically#i cannibalized some of this fic for that

It is I, anon from earlier today and I can now in confidence tell you that your fics have broken me down into nothingness.
Not only am I stupid and cannot read tags but I repeatedly let myself be comforted by your writing only to be hit with the sad truth at the end. You can’t keep getting away with this /j .Your style is so unique and I can feel the passion you have for the characters as you can see their inner turmoils on the writings. I love how you bring them to life
My personal favourite is Monologue (which is highly underrated btw). I love the dynamic between Fumi and Maki plus Fumi talking about her day made me smile so much. Then cane the gut wrenching feeling about Maki. Honestly you managed to balance the fluff with the angst out so well and I really adored it.
To conclude this annoying fan’s rambling, you are my favourite blue period writer and such a great storyteller. I know how you’ve stated that the fandom is quite inactive (cause it is) but your presence manages to be so outstanding to me. I don’t know why I was too nervous to follow now but I might as well write my letter of appreciation so it can be covered by the bots.
I hope you are able to continue doing what you love and have a great rest of day. 🙃
thanks op, kinda figured bcs i have emails from ao3 and your usernames match
personally 'monologue' is quite the lackluster for me, i wanted to use the concept, i think i wanted to make it about ytyt with yotasuke that would tell yatora about the summer festival only to reveal at the end that yatora was unconscious the whole time so yotasuke wasn't talking with anyone, i got the idea while working on 'a psychological take' (where i wrote already a summer festival so it felt unnecessary to do it again) and at the same time i wanted to write fumimaki (bcs there's literally nothing for this married couple, almost canon i'd say, more canon than ytyt), so i combined both, i was still in a phase where i wanted to kill all characters and make them suffer which i think i did a lot and now i just want to write them relax and be happy (writing depression is hard), so it's not really that original inside my head, but im glad at least someone else likes it (for me billy of tea was way more fun to think about)
tbh i've been thinking about moving on from blp for quite a few months already but i simply can't find something else to interest me the same way ytyt does, which sucks bcs if i don't write then no one will write stuff, rn i want to finish this fic i'm sorking on (i hope i get to 100k), then a oneshot about ytyt soulmates and another oneshot about miki and ayano only, then idk, i think it would be good to retire (not to be petty actually, but i did write 40% of the words in the yatoyota tag on ao3)
fandom isn't really only inactive, it is now a bit (i continuously try to collect blp fans here and on twt, the more the merrier), but i just felt ignored since the anime was airing, again maybe it was the bad timing bcs i started posting my first fic towards the end of the anime when people lost the interest bcs that adaptation is horrible, then in february yamaguchi had covid and from march to july it was complete hiatus and then the whole dj drama (which i'd lie if i said the mob mentality to drop it didn't affect me too although i was the one to uncover the doujinshis on my own weeks before it got to twitter, anyway my idea was: this isn't a piece of media i care about and i am already deeply in love with blue period so whatever, my respect for yamaguchi decreased and i got a passive aggressive attitude towards her until she posted the new year ytyt picture with bunnies this january, now i seriously don't care abt whatever else she drew - also damn i'm really side railing with this)
thanks again for your support, sorry for the long unnecessary text lmao, i have too much free time

What fics do you like/read/recommend?
Difficult question, cause recommendations I can give but only very limited.
What I like? Slow Burn, Angst, Fluff, damn it I also read Smut sometimes, AUs (I mention something about that later). Basically: I want to suffer, I want to cry, but give me a happy ending. I LOVE good interpreted characters and I LOOOVE well-written relations. What I mean by that is, basically, if a sibling relationship is weirdly written, I tend to just.. not read the story at all. Does that make sense? Whatever.
While I read a lot, I rarely save what I read and more often than not I kind of.. lose half of the fics I read? There’s one I am currently obsessed with, which I found via @worstloki:
doubt truth to be a liar. absolutely amazing tbh. it’s about a younger Loki suddenly appearing in the Avengers Tower, without any memories about what happened (post Ragnarok), it’s got trans Peter & cultural differences between Asgard and Midgard I find quite interesting. Cause while I do know that comic Loki mentioned that the concept of gender and sexuality do not exist in Asgard the way they do on Midgard (I think that is what he said), I found the differences portrayed in that story very believable and also super interesting, cause I didn’t think of that? Especially interesting when you know a bit about the Viking age and its culture, which MCU Asgard clearly was set to resemble.
So, next I need to put a little disclaimer about myself: I normally do not like Reader fics, because more often than not they’re super ooc and I just find this whole.. “y/n” thing kind of offputting and it just makes me uninterested very often. However I have a friend who do likes these kind of stories. And she lets me know. And she needs someone to talk about these stories, so there’s that. And I read a handfull of them and tbh only those I actually find 1. well-written, 2. well characterised & 3. no darn use of “y/n”, cause no I never imagine myself there, I create characters in my head for each story.
A Job Million PRs Would Die For by @saiansha. Jesus fucking christ the amount of times I re-read this story. Honestly, it is, I think, the first Reader fanfic I read in my entire life, was super weary at first cause. idk. I know some people on this website (and AO3, let’s be real) that just post very weird stuff. This one has an interpretation of Loki that I can 100% believe and it is one I support. That was one of my main reasons to continue reading, but it’s also the general writing style that I like and that there’s a Reader character, who is not a helpless damsel in distress. Ultimate proof of that was the most recent chapter. (dear author knows my thoughts, I dared to dm cause I was just. very enthuasiastic about this story)
Broken Crown by @michelleleahhh. Second one I started reading at one point cause my friend kept asking me to read it. a kind-of AU? It’s set in Asgard. That’s what you need to know. Again, a story that had me from the beginning, once I started. For the writing style and for the characterisation. The story really had me guessing sometimes, cause,, well-written! and really good dialogue!! damn you Freya!! and a decent Reader character that doesn’t have me ripping out my own intestines. (also very enthusiastic about this story, yes this phrasing as a meaning)
Foruneyti by Evaldrynn or @foruneyti (I tagged the blog for the story here, too, don’t mind me pls) Also kind of an AU, basically just Asgard. Anyway, I am so in love with the aesthetic this story gives me. It’s hard to explain, but after 85 chapters I just have this very clear picture in my head of what I think this story looks like. Now, Reader here is also good and well-written, the Original Characters are likeable and not super overpowered, neither is Reader. The canon characters are, in my humble opinion, interpreted nicely and tbh for some reason I just always imagine them in this comic style, rather than the way the films portray them.
Of Different Emotions by @wanderingworldwarrior. my. goodness. I am in love with these stories and I am just. so desperate for an update. idk if we will ever get one, but honestly, I re-read it this week and. Just stopped after the second part, cause I can’t deal with the pain of the third part one more time. First part is set pre-Thor 1, second part is set during Thor 1 and the third during The Avengers. I love the Reader character a lot and the Original Characters just. belong so much to the story. idk I just love the way this story is written, I love the characters, I just love it a lot, alright.
Onwards to anime. Bungou Stray Dogs:
where your loyalties lie by writingfromtheshadows. this!! story!! it’s so good!! it’s a Yakuza!AU and oh my gooood. It’s all just so so well put, compared to canon and I love the dynamics Dazai and Chuuya have here.
Forgettable Significance by Witheryvine. THIS STORY. took my sanity, threw it out of the window and then spat on me. It broke my heart so very often, cause it manages to make you question yourself. morals about relationships out of the window. I re-read this story like five times.
still still still by toriosaurus. I was waiting, desperately, for every single chapter. This AU gives me everything I need and more. I remember doing fanart for this story and being very proud of it, even though it did no justice to the original story. Normally I am not a fan of, idk what to call it, no power AUs because most people just do the thing wrong for me. But this one hits.
If I recommend Twist and Shout now I get thrown into Turbohell, so idk if you want a very sinful Destiel fanfic, then read
Hot Water by Chiyume. I was 16, I decided to read Destiel fanfictions and this one kind of did it for me.
Don’t @ me. I really read a lot more than this, but I suck at organising myself and I just barely ever save shit. Also it’s late, I’ve been on a video call with my friend for over three hours now and I just like to clown when I am tired. Anyway, I used to bookmark Destiel fanfics back in the day and the rest is just. Read it, kudos, comment, and then I forget to save. The multichapter fics are often still in my subscribes, but sometimes. just.. not.
#sam shamed me for this#you can do the same now#and kol if you maybe see this#and think wtf is annika doing#then i have news#this is barely all#answered#anonymous

✨ check-in tag! ✨
i was tagged by lovelies aahana @butterkookies, t @blueandtaes, andy @sugacutie & addy @taehkims thank you all so much! 🥺💖
1. why did you choose your url?
it was originally a pun combining dynamite + tae,,, but i didn’t like how the ‘y’ looked in dynamitae so i changed it to an ‘i’ LMAOO. but THEN i stumbled across the fact that dinamita means “dynamite” in spanish!!! and the phonetics of the spanish pronunciation is more like how i say it in my head so that was a very satisfying development!!!
2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them?
this blog is a sideblog!!! i also have a non-bts kpop one @atxteez and my fic rec blog @dinamirecs :) i have the former bc i feel like the non-bts stuff i post on here kinda gets lost amidst all the bts content and the latter so that i can better organize/keep track of the fics that i read!
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
since 2015 i think o.O
4. do you have a queue tag?
yes, and quite possibly the most boring one ever: #q
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
my main started as a 5sos/1d blog....i can’t exactly remember but i think one of my friends used it a lot and she would show me funny posts so i decided to join. little did i know that i was signing up for a lifetime of suffering (i’m joking) (kind of)
6. why did you choose your icon?
butter!yoongi, his verse and his smile my beloveds 💚
7. why did you choose your header?
butter!tae simultaneously gave me life and completely ruined it so it’s only logical that i remind myself of that every time i log on
8. what’s your post with the most notes?
this dynamite vs butter shitpost with isabella’s wonderful and incredibly important tag <3 @monvante we make a pretty good comedic duo if i do say so myself
9. how many mutuals do you have?
more than i can count and i love them all dearly 💓
10. how many followers do you have?
much more than i anticipated for lil ole me,,, ily all 😚
11. how many people do you follow?
187,, it used to be higher but i recently went and unfollowed some inactive blogs!
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
tbh i don’t know what exactly constitutes a shitpost (despite me using the terminology above)? if me screaming on the dash about how much i love the boys when content drops counts then yes and often
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
more than i’d care to admit,,, i’m here all the damn time
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? who won?
no and i’d like to keep it that way
15. how do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?
if there’s no guilt-trip wording and it’s important then i’ll reblog it (usually on my main), but a lot of people use this site as an escape from things happening in other aspects of their lives so i totally get the argument against them. everyone has the right to decide what they do and don’t want on their blog (there are exceptions to this obviously but still).
16. do you like tag games?
yes!! it warms my heart and makes me feel all giddy when people think to tag me, even if i end up doing a lot of them pretty late :,)
17. do you like ask games?
i do! as many people have mentioned it’s very daunting because of the mortifying concept of reblogging one and not getting asks, but i like talking to you all a lot so...high risk high reward baby!!!
18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
famous is....a strong word. that being said they’re all superstars in my eyes so 🤩🤩
19. do i have a crush on a mutual?
literally all of them. everyone get in line so i can give u all a kiss on ur forehead <3
20. tags?
i’m tagging some moots that i’d love to get to know more 😌 @monvante @userjiminie @gimbapchefs @malewifejk @eternal-bangtan @kookie-chimchim @stayjimin & @taemaknae — if you all would like to do it!!!

🖊writerly conversation tag
tagged by @j-pping to do this amazing interview/reflections tag. of course she put together one of the most amazing tags ever because she is brilliant. thank you for tagging me angel!
questions below the cut!
2020
what was the most challenging part of writing this year?
gosh...i think for me the hardest bit was staying both motivated and inspired. a lot of my inspiration comes from being out in the world. im an introvert but i enjoy being out in the city around the noise and the people and the buildings on my own. the majority of my writing used to be done while riding the subway or on a weekend after id gone out somewhere. a lot of my fics are inspired by locations, and experiences within those locations. being inside for the majority of the year made it hard for me to remember how...people interact with or relate to the spaces around them. so i felt like a lot of the time staying inspired was coming from places within just me that felt inauthentic. i think my writing benefits from my ability to see multiple perspectives, so i felt like a lot of dialogue or writing itself was suffering just coming from me alone. it took a lot of work to ensure that it wasnt like that.
and then, motivation was also so hard. the internet and the news and everything about america, the planet, the everything was unrelenting and draining. we as people were privy to so much trauma this year, to the collapse and fracture of communities, lives, governments. there were several weeks at the end of may and into june where i just...couldnt. i had no energy for anything. it happened again in november after the election and the windfall of it. energetic tensions were so high it just felt so hard to push out words when things were breaking everywhere. like there were more important things i needed to focus on, and healing was one of them.
what was the most enjoyable/rewarding part of writing this year?
i enjoyed the new community of writers/friends i found by writing for bts again. they challenged me and pushed me to better myself. @jamaisjoons is so inspirational in the way she generates community and encourages relationships between storytellers. doing the summer bucket list pushed me out of my hermit hole for camp nano, and i cranked out molotov cocktail and felt so proud of it. it mattered so much to me because it was the first long thing id written after a period of feeling deceased, and it was so enjoyable because there was a sense of community around it. its easy to forget how essential having a support system in your creative community is.
what piece has left the most impact on you and why?
probably ciperion. words cannot express how proud i am of that story and the direction its going in. i read it back sometimes and i realize that my writing was elevated because of that piece. tbh molotov was responsible for that lift, but ciperion was just a whole other tier. ive also never written anything like that story before and it felt so good exploring the themes of seafaring and pirates.
what have you learned about yourself through the process of writing in the past year?
that i absolutely am someone who took for granted how inspiring the world is even if i see it as a stressor. but also that writing isnt necessarily about being inspired. its about pushing on when its hard. some of my best pieces came from that kind of push this year. 2020 felt like...a slog through most of it, but i kept pushing myself to write even when i was low and tired. i realized that some of my best writing comes from that push, when its not easy and when its difficult and i have to think harder. thats where i grow.
how has your writing changed in the past year? how have you grown?
i think im more syntax and detailed focused than i used to be. lately ive been experimenting with making the act of reading feel like pleasure. my favourite books are the ones where i read a sentence, and im moved because it felt nice to read or it felt powerful. the sentence itself had power, not the image it was trying to convey. somehow separate, if that makes sense. theres a lot i need to learn before i could go off comfortably and try to write a book, and this is what ive been trying to master. my attention to detail has grown, and sometimes i think thats a detriment. i think sometimes im too detailed and i dont leave my reader enough power on their own. im still finding that balance, but i think im pleased right now with what im trying to push myself to master.
2021
ignoring your wips for a second, if you had all the time and energy in the world to write your magnum opus piece, what would it be about? why is that the dream story you’d write, all other things controlled for?
ive had two books in my mind forever. one was originally being written as a fanfic in a different fandom before i stopped and realized its too big and so much more important, and is worth being a book id like to write. if i wrote an opus like this it would actually be a book id submit to publishers but ~
- hundreds of years in the future, society has learned how to cure most diseases. for those we cannot, the sick person can be cryogenically frozen for a period of time until a cure is found. there is, however, a limit to the length of time they are frozen. no one has ever been frozen for over 100 years, and the main character is a scientist embarking on the experiment to do just that. it is, effectively, time travel. the main character is rash, selfish, sarcastic - not a very nice person; invested in their work and science and little else. they freeze themselves and wake up in the future. during their time in rehab they have to confront the horror theyve made of themselves, the horror people have made of the future, learn to be vulnerable. they end up falling in love with another scientist etc etc. theres so much more to this story and the world is enormous. one day ill revisit it
- a fictional play on orpheus in the underworld where a female main character’s brother was sold by their mother to the goddess of the underworld (helena instead of hades) for eternal youth. the gods all live in a hotel (the concept of this main thing is being used in elysian fields but its not remotely the same) after they were removed from the heavens. main character (ophelia) must gather several totems from the gods to prove her worth and survive her trip into the underworld to rescue him. id like to not focus on a woman finding romance, and instead a woman finding herself, her strength, her devotion to family, her power, and connecting with her history.
how do you want to grow in your writing this year?
this year id like to find balance, like i mentioned above, with my need for detail and my trust in my readers. the balance between detail and dialogue. i want to try to condense my writing again so not everything is a goddamn series. the ideas i have are huge and thats great but i need to remember how to parse things again, while still maintaining impact.
what’s one thing you’d wish to see in the fan-writing community this year?
i want more community, in general. as a multi fan, i see pockets in the kpop fandom where it exists and im well and truly aware that its recently become incredibly hard to foster on the exo side. ill just say that. maybe i dont witness it or its happening amongst blogs i havent found or have not found me. i want to see less dialogue about ‘popular blogs,’ whatever that means; less focus on notes; less worries about statistics. i want people to remember that fandom is not about numbers, and the moment you make it about that is the moment you stop having fun. i want less fear from writers regarding sharing work they read and liked, less shame around it. i want to see more vocal communication for the things people like and don’t like, more engagement and more interaction. the concept of popular blogs is so ridiculous to me, because no one has any control over the metrics. no one has control over who follows them or reads their work except the person doing the actual reading. i want people to realize they hold so much power - a person with 10k notes has as much power as a person with 2 notes because sharing is what fosters community. i want this fandom to remember to share again.
name one new thing you want to try doing in your writing this year.
gosh i really love postmodernism in writing. think like mark z danielewski, who plays with the shapes of words or the act of holding a book - the physicality of it. id like to maybe write a choose your own adventure, or do something that encompasses multiple platforms. or even, more importantly, finish as still as sound and time runner. those are more reasonable goals. time runner actually is done, i just need to stop pressuring myself about it and edit it to get it up. asas, too, is largely done i just need to get my ass together. i have so many other ideas no one has ever seen i need to finish what ive started. thats a real goal.
tagging: @yehet-me-up @jamaisjoons @kyungseokie @jenmyeons @luffles424 @yoonia @shadowsremedy @chillingkoo @onherwings @inkedtae @ninibears-erigom @imdifferentshadesofpurple @readyplayerhobi @ditzymax @sugaurora @snackhobi @yeojaa @sahmfanficbts @xjoonchildx @johobi and anyone else who wants to do this. as always please only do so if comfortable or you want to!

how familiar are you with youkai type stuff? like YYH, Inu Yasha type youkai. Because i had the idea for Nox & Ardyn to get thrown into a FFXV Youkai verse &. can't think how. or even what the hell LCs & NFs would be. maybe they're all human, but youkai are /around/, Somnus & Ardyn are half siblings, Ardyn's half youkai, and Nox is adopted in. kitsune maybe? that'd be a fic for Kitsunegeddon for sure. the ear and the tails, odd additions to their magic, oh, id /love/ to read that.
Ummmmmmmm not ..... really? Like- I get it as a concept but I don’t know that many of the tropes and stuff because I’ve never actually watched Inuyasha or YYH (don’t even known the premise of that one tbh I just remember it’s one with the people with the weirdly colored outfits and the one dude with a pompadour?). I’ve read some Inuyasha fanfic though so I can kinda see where you’re coming from so I can ... give it a shot? Don’t wanna turn this into a massive AU of its own tho, I like my Taur verse and other verses atm, but dabbling in this might be fun so here we go.
(What’s Kitsunegeddon????)
-Actually, Ardyn isn’t half youkai, he’s full. He’s just a mixed clans. That way I can make LCs a youkai (probably dragon) clan blessed by Bahamut with protection of humans and sovereignty over other youkai and I can make the Oracles humans blessed with the magic to purify both starscourge and youkai (what’s the word- miko? Like Kagome). Ardyn is half-kitsune/half-dragon, actually and that’s probably why when Nox and he get yote into this new timeline, Nox isn’t human anymore (much to his distress) but a DRAGON/KITSUNE HYBRID (look, some things got messed up int he transition, he should have been full dragon but somehow wound up half-kitsune, even if he takes far more strongly after his dragon side than Ardyn does. Of course, despite having, in his non-human form, dragon horns and wings, he still has a whopping nine whole tails, all of them inky black with silver scattered throughout like stars (look up silver foxes, very pretty). Ardyn himself could be mistaken for a full kitsune and is a freaking eight tails, which panics more than a few members of the human and youkai community because two unaffiliated kitsune that powerful showing up out of nowhere? Previously utterly unknown to all youkai circles? Not supposed to be possible.
-Also Nox looks and smells WAY too young to be that strong. Nox feels like a BABY youkai despite his teenage frame and nine tails. Ardyn, at least, looks and smells old enough to be an eight or nine tails (2k years old after all) but for him to be utterly unknown and have no territory? Alarm flags.
-They have that many tails because it was an adaption to how much Crystal magic they had packed inside to be converted to more youkai based forms. Being a realized and completed Chosen King is what makes Nox a nine-tails, though the PLAN was just for him to be a much larger than normal dragon youkai, considering LCs are dragons and he’s supposed to be full dragon. (Bahamut off in the void: Oops).
-Both of them proceed to wander around learning this wacky new magic and in general send both humans and youkai into fits of worry over them. Because on one hand, humans are worried over their terrible self care, on the other, youkai are worried over how two kitsune this freaking strong are only just now being noticed. Then they figure out Nox, at least, is half dragon and the panic increases because LC KITSUNE HYBRID? RAISED AWAY FROM LC CLAN. OHHHHH NO.
-They probably end up Known well before the Marilith, but despite Cor’s best efforts, the hanyou can’t catch up with them until the Marilith incident happens and he and Regis both get a real good look at a furious nine tailed kitsune with dragon features steamrolling a Marilith while an eight-tails cackles insanely and cheerfully dumps a startled and unhurt Noctis in Regis’s arms before going to help in the dismemberment of the daemon.
-Nox promptly tries to leave once the dismemberment is done, but Cor is suddenly there and Regis is on the other side going full dragon to be eye level and Nox thinks he can’t escape without a fight- which he won’t do.
-So. Regis gets to have a minor panic attack over discovering the Dramatic Way that he has a half-kitsune son who’s been running around with his kitsune uncle and that they’re probably the ones blowing up all the Niflheim bases despite the anti-youkai tech the youkai-phobic human empire has been developing for decades (their magic was originally all Crystal, rather than youkai with Astral blessing, so the anti-youkai measures just don’t - work, despite their youkai bodies).
-Shenanigans and species/culture misunderstandings proceed to abound as Regis takes the two back to the Citadel and very quickly realizes these two have no clue on how to Youkai and only a moderate idea on how to Human. Someone help him.
-Some extra thoughts on this would be: Cor is a hanyou (hope that’s the right word), no one knows which parent was the human one but the other one was a very lion youkai, which is why Cor picked the last name he did. Cor has no full youkai form, but he can have claws, slitted eyes, and a lashing tail when he’s Angry.
-Amicitias are a long line of humans blessed/bound to the service of the LC clan, which greatly extends their lifespan and makes them a little ... draconic. Also abnormally strong. The line of thought here is that LCs can handle other youkai, but anti-youkai humans can still hurt them, so the Shield is there to both serve as a voice for the humans in the kingdom and to keep other humans from hurting the LCs.
-There are more LCs around this time, but unfortunately by more I mean one and by one I mean Mors, who has been firmly retired by his son and never leaves his part of the Citadel because frankly he hates non-Amicitia humans and finds his son’s pro-human stance disgusting.
-Prompto is a full human. Ignis is a long-suffering cat youkai (nekomata?).
-Weskham and Cid are both pure humans with extended lifespans because Regis claimed them as His and bound their aging to his magic when they were all a retinue, even now that they are estranged he still keeps up the blessing because he loves them. Regis is quite the outlier for having a primarily human (and one hanyou) Retinue. Most LCs have the Shield as their human and maybe one other and the others are supposed to be youkai. Regis never cared.
-Titus is a long-suffering wolf youkai. Someone help him his new kitsune boss is a maniac.
-The Glaives are ... well. Galahdians. That means they are Weird. People can’t decide if they are humans, hanyou, or youkai and frankly Galahdians don’t help explain because they don’t care. The Galahdian youkai clans fully mingled with the human clans LONG ago and by this point they’re all so mixed blood there’s really no distinction. They call themselves shifters because they look pure human in human form but can transform into a youkai form. The youkai form is smaller and more animalistic than normal youkai though, which is where the confusion comes in (think- shifters? Shifters.). Nyx can shift into a black Coeurl, Crowe turns into a slightly eldritch/shadowy crow, Libertus is a permanently exasperated Behemoth. I don’t know what the others are.
-Also PS if someone Arts Nox as a pretty kitsune with spirally, antelope-esque dragon horns, dragon wings, and nine fluffy fox tails I will Scream for Joy.

YEAR END FIC REVIEW 2019
This year I wrote:
The Dumpster Fire - a bunch of random ‘verses
to catch the golden snitch
we're young gods
all these delicate things
no peace, no quiet in your eyes
rip out those wings, darling
the little prince
interlude: world's okayest dad
—to the moon and back
as the moon bears witness (i swear to you)
ao3 tells me that’s 95k wc if we discount random teasers/snippets i only wrote on tumblr & twitter than we’re well over 100k.
Overall thoughts
I honestly thought I wrote less this year giving how many actual new stories I have up on ao3, but over 100k is still a pretty admirable job so far so I can’t be all that disappointed in myself. I don’t have an actual estimate wc on everything bc I post random snippets/teasers on twitter and than move the more edit and polish version on tumblr AND THAN i move it to my dumpstire fire collection if it fit. so like, i don’t know exactly how much wc i did but still moderately impressive given how profoundly lazy i can be lol /o\.
there were a lot of things i wanted to do but i didn’t get around to it bc i held myself back from committing to various big projects due to my promise/obligation to updating social media au :S. which i guess is good bc i didn’t add on to MORE WIPs but also depressing bc im stuck in a rut bc of it. i hope to explore more projects next year!
My best story of the year
“we’re young gods” prob my psuedo mad max post-apocalyptic wasteland abo au... GOD WHAT A MOUTHFUL. outside!pov has always been one of my fav narrative piece to write esp when im building a evolving world that come with it. i love a post-apocalyptic landscape, the fight and survive theme has always been a deep fascination for me plus w/ abo which makes it even more interesting. i talk a lot about the idea of kingmaker and the person behind the seat of power/throne a lot and i wanted that deeply in a lot of my ‘verses bc stories of movers and shakers of the world are always fun bc their actions have such HUGE RAMIFICATION and i always like politics and wars a little too much lol /o\.
My favorite story of the year
“to catch the golden snitch” bc i really like my veela!katsuki fic the most. prob bc it plays into adapting some familiar concept/theme/source (HPverse) and putting my fav spin on them with bkdk. i have always been fond of creaturefics in hp fandom so i knew i wanted to make another VEELAFIC bc why the fuck not. it also play into my fav trope of katsuki being something inhuman, dangerous, and beautiful and also SO COMPLETELY WHIPPED FOR THS HUMAN BOY ;D.
Most fun story to write
“to the moon and back” aka DRUNK!IZUKU FIC!!!! bc HELLO DRUNK IZUKU IS THE ABSOLUTELY BEST.
Story with the single sexiest moment
“all these delicate things’ or aka the panties fic bc unf i really like see man indulge in feminine things esp when they’re someone who had such a history of violence like izuku who had suffer so much hurt in his life; AND ON HIS BODY which are riddled with scars and i think should allow yourself to be kind/softer to yourself and things like panties are so DELICATE that idk i really dig that juxtaposition??? A LOT.
Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
“rip out those wings darling” aka mutual yandere fic i was originally given a prompt by someone but my giftee dropped out so I RAN WILD AND CAME UP WITH THIS BULLSHIT. idk i always like fucked up relationship esp when it’s mutually assured destruction kind of fucked up where they both equally crazy about each other and im all for that. fandom has a habit of making izuku being super creepy stalker but they make him violent rapist and that doesn’t sit well with me. you can make izuku creepy and stalkerish w/o playing into that kind of things :S. i hate how darkfics these days are like fall under that purview when you can have darkfic w/o necessitating sexual violence... like pls explore mindgames and emotional/mental manipulation more like man i think that’s much more interesting so i tried that with this fic. izuku doesn’t hurt others or hurt katsuki BUT HURT HIMSELF to manipulate katsuki to care for him and im like SO ABOUT THAT bc it play into his self sacrificing nature w/o me bending his characterization to make him into something recognizable and katsuki violent obsession and possession with izuku is ramped up but it isn’t sexualized but about ownership and wanting to izuku enough to to kill and idk i dig their mutual destructive habits about each other lol.
Story that shifted my own perception of the characters
i swear to god i don’t like the villain!deku trope. im more indiff to it than anything but the trope tend to twist him into something unrecognizable to me but when i was coming up about this ‘verse i wanted izuku to be a bit jaded and betrayed by the world/society but still SO EARNEST AND HOPEFUL about it even though his goals has twisted in a way that by saving it he has to break it first. somehow trying to true to himself as he slip further and further in darkness and i just find that kind of duality fascinating????? like how do i keep in character but make him fall and see his struggles b/t both sides and i find myself liking villain!deku just a tiny, A TINY more and open so much potential.
Hardest story to write
“as the moon bears witness” bc i did a rushed job on it and I HATE IT W/ THE FIRE OF TEN THOUSANDS SUNS. there’s so much i wanted to include but i fucked up and i hate how much I FUCKED UP ON IT. this is def the fic i regretted the most bc i knew what i wanted but i couldn’t exactly execute it correctly but instead of trying to think of a way to fix it i just let it go and i hate it and myself ever since than. UGH.
Biggest disappointment
"AS THE MOON BEARS WITNESS” for the exact same reason as above. i want to rewrite this so SO BAD and i will.
Biggest surprise
i didn’t have any surprise fics tbh. everything that i wrote is pretty much under my purview LOL but i found myself being more active on twitter the last half of the year and writing more threads (i.e. live writing) than moving it on tumblr. a lot of pieces i written on twitter was sudden for me and took me hostage but ya know what i go with the flow anyway bc what can i say im just a weak, weak girl w/ zero self control.
Most unintentionally telling story
maybe “no peac, no quiet in your eyes”? I think that idea slapped me across the face bc i spent a week getting really obsessed with asoiaf fics on ao3 and man I LOVE POLITICS AND WARS?? did i mention that??? i love dynastic rules, warring kingdoms, and a love earth shattering enough to move mountains and i wanted to see that so much so that ‘verse kind of happened.
Story I haven't written yet, but intend to
omfg SO MANY JUST SOOO SOOO MANY. i would really to get around to writing a full fledged fic of either surrogate au or sperm donor au bc i love that kind of unconventional family and romcom are like YA KNOW MY WEAKNESS.
Goals for this year:
like every year i keep saying i want to do tododekubaku fic and maybe 2020 WILL BE MY YEAR??
finish social media ch 2 before/around my bday of this month as a gift to myself a;sjdf;alsjdf lol
take on more projects that won’t land in the dumpstire fire collections
explore new fic avenues bc i always like trying new things and breaking in new genre/tropes bc why the fuck not
write all THE CLICHES and don’t let anyone tell me otherwise about my omega!deku loving ways

Post the first line of your last 10 published fics, then tag 10 people.
I was tagged by the lovely @dazais-guardian-angel seriously check all her fics out they’re amazing!
1) "Her name was Dolores. We were together for over thirty years."
Ah this is an old draft I never really finished and then finally polished up and posted for the umbrella academy XD It’s Five centric like most of my tua fics, but this time Dolores is actually a real girl. It’s definitely rougher than I would’ve liked but it’d been clogging my brain up so I forced my way through the end and then published it
2) “Aziraphale twitched, mouth set in a prim disapproving line, brows scrunched just so, in that disappointed parental way of his.”
Oh, this! This is from my singular Good Omens fanfic. I’ve got so many ya,f written drafts for the show but this is the only one I’ve managed to finish XD I needed Crowley actually telling Aziraphale who exactly the-best-friend-who-died-was. I really enjoyed writing for them- they’re so much fun! Even if they’re not exactly forthcoming with plot ideas XD
3) “...So." Dean says, voice soft, cracking at the end, "How in the hell are we not dead yet?”
Oh goodness. This is, I think, my only published supernatural fanfic. I’ve always loved the show, or rather the characters because the plot is well... not the best, but anyways, I finally got bit by a plot bunny that actually went somewhere! It’s a fanfic about Cas’s true form because tbh angels are freaking cool and I wanted to explore more biblically accurate depictions of angels! It was definitely loads of fun writing this one (and that’s what matters, right?) XD
4) Reigen leaned back in his chair, eyeing Mob who was dutifully doing his homework across the room.
This is also my single fanfic for the fandom. I really loved Mob Psycho! And especially making poor Reigen suffer because I’m a jerk. This is mostly a fanfic about Mob exploding and Reigen calming him down! There’s Reigen angst, hurt/comfort, and Ritsu shows up. He is his usual self with a side of bonding with his unofficial overprotective dad/weird uncle/annoying older brother Reigen against his will :P
5) “They’d stopped the apocalypse. He still couldn’t really believe it. His end goal, one he’d been working towards for forty-five years, all of his life really, had been accomplished.”
This fanfic is a sequel to ah, I believe the next number. Basically, the umbrella academy has successfully saved the world, sans the time travel at the end of the first season. However, I’m tying up loose ends in this one, namely the commission that is still out there. There’s gun fights, Five!!, uh some gore, and family bonding time <3
6) Five stood there looking on unfeelingly as she slammed her hands against the door; crying, wailing, begging.
Yeah, this one explores what might’ve happened if Five had been there to see Vanya getting locked up. (Hint: He is having none of it) XD I did not expect it to get as popular as it did and I think it’s still my most popular fic to date. Fun fact: it was originally intended to only be a one-shot, but I had too much fun with it XD
7) “Vanya poked her head out the bedroom door. The hallway stretched long and dark, seemingly going on forever into a black abyss.”
Oh! This is quite possibly my favorite out of all the tua fanfics I’ve written! It’s only a one-shot, but idk I just really liked concept. It involves Ben and Vanya bonding as children, plus a little Five at the end.
8) “Five clenched his fists, pretending he wasn’t sweating at the thought of the new individual training regimes that their father had devised.”
I forgot I even wrote this one!!! It’s a lil fic about the good ol’ umbrella academy days. It does have the whole gang, but it’s mostly Five with dear old Dad. Well my idea of what Reggie might’ve been like. Reginald is fun to write in the way that I really dislike him but also he’s... idk he’s calculated? Manipulative? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just fun to write even tho I really wanna clock him i guess
9) “Vanya looked up, face twisted with worry, lips thin.”
Ohhhhh this! This is a fanfic I made based off of Chapter 11 of the tua fanfic The Moon Laughs by Lady_Origami. Her fanfic wrecked me. Just mmmm ripped my heart to shreds in the sort of way where you thank the fanfic author afterwards (*cough* looking at u ProPinkist) anywaaaay my fanfic does contain major character death but if you’ve read her fic you know what I’m talking about XD
10) Klaus frowned at the floor, and Ben huffed, "You can’t make me punch you every time you feel like taking drugs again."
Yet another tua fanfic. I uh I didn’t realize how many I wrote until now. We haven’t even reached the end of them either. Well, anyway, again, Five angst, because I hurt all my faves. Klaus and Ben and even Luther show up! Basically uh well, the rather common topic of Klaus seeing Five’s literal trail of bodies now that he’s sober.
I can’t believe we didn’t even hit any of my BNHA fics XD oh well.
I don’t have ten people to tag but I guess I’ll tag some of the extremely talented writers I follow ^^ @aini-nufire @29-pieces @im-fairly-whitty and whoever else wants to join in!

Author Interview Tag
Author Interview Game
Thank you sooooo much for the tag @tessiete this has actually made my day! I fucking love writing about writing (bit self-indulgent, I know) and reading other people’s writing about writing and oh, god, I’m so excited!!
Name: pebblysand
Fandoms: from beginning to end - Without A Trace, House, Spooks/MI:5, The Good Wife, Silk, Harry Potter (although, technically, that was probably the first one - my mum’s best friend said she had to read HP because from age 6 to age 10 it was all I ever consented to talk about).
Where you post: AO3 and FF.
Behind the cut cause this post is loooong.
Most popular oneshot:
So, the first thing I need to confess is: I geek over AO3 and FF analytics. I always cross-post simultaneously and find the difference (and similarities) between the websites and their audiences, and the way it reflects in the feedback on my work, absolutely fascinating. I mean, I’m doing the following based on kudos for AO3 and on favourites for ff and the first fic on AO3 is twelth in ranking on ff. The first fic on ff is ninth on AO3. They’re the same stories posted at the same time! Why the difference? Can someone please conduct a sociological study of both websites because I’m digging this.
However, even more interesting: the second most popular story is the same on both. It’s also one I really don’t like. Isn’t that mad?
Anyway, onto the nitty-gritty.
AO3: Truth (Peaky Blinders)
I like parts of this one. It was the first thing I wrote after years of not writing and I think it might have suffered a bit from that kind of stiffness in my writing muscles. Obviously, it was also so linked to the end of series 3 that it ended up being AU quickly after series 4 came out, which is a bit annoying. I think I also may have made Tommy a bit too intense in this one? I don’t know. There are parts of it that I really do like, though. I really, really love the structure, and the opening is probably my all time favourite in anything that I’ve written (a very close race with Once for TGW, tbh).
Anyway, I always think it’s a bit funny that this one became the most popular (by far by the way) out of everything I’ve ever written because it was such a flop when I posted it hahah. Got like three kudos and one comment, and because I hadn’t written in so long, I remember thinking: ‘ah, that’s it, then, I’m shite.’ Little did I know! Now, it’s just been steadily getting more and more love with every month that passes and that just makes me so, so happy. I suppose that people just watch Peaky on Netflix and find the fic when they dig through the archive, give it kudos - it’s so, so lovely. I also recently got one of my favourite comments I’ve ever gotten on it (on FF) and it’s really made my day :).
FF: Cannonballs (The Good Wife)
Again, one that was not very popular at the start (I seem to remember it had the lowest amount of favs for quite some time, actually) but has gradually grown to be popular-ish. I honestly haven’t read this is so long that I don’t really have an opinion on it but I do remember that it is the first thing I actually remember properly working on. I was eighteen when I wrote it and although I’d been writing for years prior to that, I’d always just kind of wrote stuff in one go, posted it and forgot about it. This one was the first one I really worked on, planned, edited, and I remember re-reading it a couple of years back and thinking it was probably the first one that makes me not cringe now. Overall, I do like that it’s popular now.
Most popular multichap:
(Full disclosure, I’ve only ever written two multichaps, both happen to be listed here)
AO3: Children (Silk)
My baby. My love. On and off, between writing, first posting, then editing and reposting - 2.5 years of work. It is a ridiculously niche fandom but sure look, I’m so proud of it. I’d always thought I was a one-shot kind of girl, that I was incapable of writing and framing a long-form story, and yet, here I am. I am madly proud of this.
FF: Castles (Harry Potter)
Sheer force of numbers, here, to be honest. It’s only two chapters in, and already two kudos short of overpowering Children on AO3, which I’m guessing will make it most popular across the board, just because the fandom itself is so large.
I will say this: I’ve had this story in my head for years and I think part of the reason why I’m only writing it now is that after years of writing in nice, niche fandoms where you could easily read all the fics available in a few days and make friends with readers because everyone kind of knew each other, I finally have the backbone to face the Potter fandom. Because fuck, as much as I love the books and have gotten absolutely lovely, thoughtful comments on this throughout the past few weeks, God can that fandom be brutal.
And, don’t get me wrong: I’ve had constructive criticism on a number of my fics in the past, including very niche ones. Even if it does sometimes hurt a bit, it’s always helped me better my writing. I remember for instance one chapter of Children where someone wrote in that they were confused and couldn’t follow the narrative. I was a bit annoyed at first but in the end, it made me rethink the chapter and rewrite it, and they were 100% correct. That’s the whole point of constructive criticism/debates in comments.
The Potter fandom has that, no doubt. I’ve had super interesting discussions in comments and overall the response and feedback has been incredible, like I’ve never even dreamt of before. This being said, I’ve also gotten more shit than I’ve had in any other fandom. For instance: the story picks up after the war (starts in May 1998). The summary reads: “To him, the spring of '98 is about sex and funerals.” - which is a line taken from the fic itself. When you labour over something for hours on end and the first comment you get is: “first learn when spring season starts and ends before writing a story about it. what a joke.” it’s a bit disheartening, to say the least.
And, I know. First of all, yes, that person is an idiot and clearly doesn’t know when spring ends and summer starts themselves because summer only technically starts on the 21st of June. Secondly, even if I’d gotten it wrong, I didn’t write a story about the seasons, you idiot. It’s clearly a line taken from the story. Lastly, learn how to punctuate and spell. Now, I’m 27. I know that. I can disregard that. But even then it still feels like shit. If I’d gotten that kind of trolling when I was younger, I’m not sure I’d still be writing today. I really admire younger writers who start out on Potter - I was very afraid until now, tbh.
Favorite story you’ve written:
This, I really don’t know. I was trying to pick one but I think my favourite one is almost always the one I’ve either just written or am writing now. For a long time, I really loved Once. I also really liked Daisies and Dreams. I obviously love Children although I think I’ve spent so much time writing and editing it that it’ll take a bit of time for me to really appreciate it without also self-editing in my head, if that makes sense.
Right now, though, I love Castles. I think it’s the best piece of writing I’ve ever written. When the next one comes around, I hope that’s the best piece of writing I’ve ever written. That means progress.
Fic you were nervous to post:
Castles for reasons explained above. I love HP but I don’t think big fandoms in general are my thing. I like decent-sized fandoms. Like, TGW-size, back in the day, was perfect. Even as a reader, it’s also fucking hard to find good fic due to the sheer mass of stuff out there. Where do you even start?
How you choose your titles:
Castles, Children, Daisies, Truth, Mistakes, Dreams, Before, Once, Cannonballs - hello, do you detect a pattern here :D?
Jokes aside, yeah, I like one-word titles. Believe it or not, though, it hadn’t occurred to me that I always seemed to gravitate towards them until @orbythesea on AO3 pointed it out to me. To be honest, even the fics that don’t materially have one-word titles have one-word titles in my head. Like, Horses Made of Sticks is actually just Horses, in my head. I should probably have called it Horses.
How do I choose? Depends. Sometimes, they come from songs (Castles, Children, Daisies). Sometimes, it’s quotes, concepts from the show/book, or sometimes it just fits. Like, Once, Dreams and Truth couldn’t really have been called anything else, they’re just what the fics are about.
Do you outline?
Yes, always. For one-shots, I usually have an outline on my phone or part of the word file I’m writing the fic in itself, just a list of scenes or quotes that come to me at random points during the day that I will forget if I don’t write them down. I am very forgetful of my own brilliance hahaha.
For longer stuff, I usually have the general plot in my head from beginning to end before I start writing. Then, chapter by chapter, I plan with a blank A4 sheet of papers that I fill with post-its describing different scenes, a little bit like a paper version of those boards they have in writers’ rooms. It helps me physically see where scenes fall, where holes are. I do the same thing for original fiction.
For reference, one for Children (chapter 9) would have looked like that. They’re definitely not set in stone, though. Lots of times I’ll change stuff on the spot, big or small. Scenes that pop up randomly or get deleted because they worked in my head but not on paper, sometimes moved (sometimes moved to other chapters even). Here, “Alice” later became “Charlotte” and that “eye-fucking” (LOL) scene never happened.
Complete:
I think they’re all complete? I never completed that alphabet-based collection of House one-shots but it was a collection and they were shite anyways. They’re not missed, lol.
Of course, Castles is incomplete, but that’s just my current WIP.
In progress:
As I said, Castles. Also a piece of original fiction that I’m not sure where to post. Like, what do people do with short stories? Where do you post that shit online? Can anyone help?
Coming soon/not yet started:
No idea. I’m a one-project-at-a-time kind of gal.
Prompts:
I love prompts. Send me all the prompts. Especially three-sentence-story prompts. God, I miss those.
Upcoming Work You’re Most Excited About:
I mean, again, Castles.
No pressure tags: I have no one to tag because I’m not really in fandom anymore but if anyone sees this and wants to do this, please be my guest. Again, I love reading about other people’s writing and writing processes because we’re all different and it’s fascinating.
Also, if anybody’s got theories about ff v. AO3 tastes and readership, hit me up, I could speculate for hours.
And thanks again @tessiete for tagging me

4, 5, 11 and 18?
This got a little long so I’m putting it under a cut
(readmore)
4) favorite character you’ve written
Time Displacement-wise it’s Dirk tbh! I really love how I write Dirk and he’s very fun for me to write, I can get very comfortable in him. (This extends into all versions of Dirk too, hilariously I think I’ve written canon-Dirk the least, but I’ve written my version in Side A and I’ve written Bro quite a bit! But I’ve written canon Dirk too!)
Other writing/probably my actual answer: My OC Tavon is really important to me. I write him a lot and think about him at least every other day lol. I’ve been writing him for like… 6 years now? He’s one of the most developed characters I have and I utterly adore him. I have a really long tag for him and that barely encompasses how important he is for me.
5) character you were most surprised to end up writing
Time Displacement-wise, Hal! I was not expecting to like Hal as much as I do now, so when I was rereading Homestuck and thinking more about Time Displacement in concept, I thought that maybe putting Hal in would be really interesting! I didn’t like Hal or find him that interesting on my first read, which I thought was really weird because I love robots so much. So I focused on him specifically in my reread and came to really really like him. And now I write him and I just. adore him a lot.
Other writing, the answer is actually Tavon still. When I created him, he was a throw-away concept idea/a challenge to myself. I was like. Hmm I want to write a superspy and i want to make a character who is loyal to the bad guys and who works for the but isn’t a completely bad person himself, he just exists in a bad society and does what he’s told for various reasons. Then it spiraled out of control. (The challenge side was that he’s a character a bit more invested in sex than I usually write, especially as a spy, so he was meant to make me consider some topics that sometimes are uncomfortable for me).
11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
God. I started writing seriously in 6th grade (although my first actual attempts were in 5th), and my first works are understandably awful oh god. My biggest issues in that old stuff (which I still have) other than my inexperience and lack of life knowledge are:
1. Dialogue. My dialogue would be really short and to the point, but in a way that wasn’t really how people actually spoke. I still struggle with dialogue sometimes but I’ve gotten much better at writing it. And I can write speeches now and characters talking for long chunks of time, so that’s good.
2. General Paragraph Length/Descriptions. My paragraphs originally would be super short because I would run out of things to say and I never really knew how to impart what i was imagining to the reader in a sufficient descriptive way. Now my approach is a little different, I don’t HAVE to make the reader see exactly what I’m seeing, i know how to leave holes to let the reader fill in the space with their own imagination, because really the reader’s imagination is one of the most powerful tools the author has to work with. But, even with that, I can pick out the details I think are most important and write them well into paragraphs of decent length that I think feel satisfying.
And I’m sure I could come up with more, but this question was only supposed to be for one aspect, but these two are tied lol.
18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
Absolutely. In some degree, everything I write reflects what I have read, whether it be through ‘what to do’ or ‘what not to do’. I have a habit of watching really bad anime sometimes to remind myself what bad writing looks like so that i know what good writing looks like.
1. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni – a visual novel by Ryukishi07, my favorite author and my favorite fictional work of all time. This work affected my character and so it absolutely has affected my writing, although as time as passed, the affect it has had on my style has become more subverted, it’s not as obvious as it used to be, but it is certainly still there.
2. The Star Wars X-wing Series – a series of novels by Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston. These novels were an execution of a writing style I had been attempting for years when I read them in high school, and they helped me learn a lot about how plot and character function hand-in-hand, and how the story can shift to deal with both well. It also taught me how to handle larger casts a little bit better, how to develop a lot of characters at once, but sacrificing some for the others, while still having them in the story. Also the action scenes helped me learn a lot, especially the scenes where the characters were piloting, because somehow I could see it in my mind and understand what they were doing even though I know very little about flight.
3. The Fall – this is a short story by one of my classmates in a creative writing class in college. It’s the worst story I ever read in my life and I had to read through three edits of it. I send it to people sometimes because I have to share the suffering, this to me truly represents the worst possible writing has to offer. (The class, including the professor, loved this work for some reason and I’m still completely baffled by that).
4. The Robots Series – three novels and several dozens of short stories by Isaac Asimov, my favorite author after Ryukishi07. Asimov is a very logical writer where others are not, he is very interested in the process of things and in creating rules that his universe follows. He works within these rules to create very fascinating plots that have a lot of interesting twists, turns, and loopholes, and it’s very engaging to read his stories. He’s a very prolific science-fiction author and for good reason. His interpretation of robots is the one that has certainly influenced my own the most.
5. I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream – a short sci-fi horror story by Harlan Ellison. This one is less of an influence and more of a validation, I saw a lot of myself in how this story was written and it really struck me, especially the cool and clinical parts. The line ‘AM said it with the sliding cold horror of a razor blade slicing my eyeball’ is one that felt so much like my own writing that I utterly fell in love with the story.
A part of me wants to say Homestuck, but Homestuck did not really affect my writing on a personal level. While Homestuck did make me think, and I mimic the characters and pesterlogs to write my fic, I don’t think it has affected me as much as any of these works above. It influenced me in other ways, but not necessarily in my own style.

all of them :P
There’s LITERALLY 50 omg >_> Ah well, if I’m procrastinating, might as well go big or go home. Warning: LONG.
Finally, an ask-meme for writers!
01: When did you first start writing?
My first ever time writing stories was in 2nd grade; we wrote stories weekly in my class. The first time I began to consciously write and consider myself a writer was probably 8th grade.
02: What was your favorite book growing up?
Ahhhh so many. Series more than individual books. Starting from when I was really young, my iconic series were: Clifford the Big Red Dog, Henry and Mudge, Horrible Harry, A to Z Mysteries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Nancy Drew, and The Chronicles of Narnia, to name a few.
03: Are you an avid reader?
Actual books? Not as much anymore. I’m too tired or busy. I read fanfics, though :p
04: Have you ever thrown a book across the room?
Where the Red Fern Grows lol one of the only books to date to make me cry.
05: Did you take writing courses in school/college?
Writing-specific? No.
06: Have you read any writing-advice books?
I mean, I had to read like MLA manuals and other “writing tips” books for school, so yeah, I guess.
07: Have you ever been part of a critique group?
Not like a real one, just in class in college
08: What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
I think the best feedback I get is on here, really! You guys are super sweet, and some of you offer some great concrete feedback! I can’t think of anything specific, but I also get really tickled when someone comments on my writing style.
09: What’s the worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
Worst as in quality wise was “this was good.” or something like that lol
Worst as far as soul-crushing...ooo. Story Time!
Freshman year of college. I had to take this like early-level English class, and the focus was on nonfiction writing and stuff like that. My professor often picked apart my papers because he didn’t like my writing style, especially not my prose, because he said it was way too florid (flowery or wordy). That made me really sad, but then I had another professor who taught a senior level class who LOVED my prose, so. It’s all relative.
10: What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?
Mmmmmmm when people use the same word over and over and over again (which, I am so guilty of, so that’s probs why it bugs me haha) Also too many short sentences. I literally can’t read something if the syntax isn’t varied enough to flow.
11: What’s your favorite book cover?
OOOOoooo I like this one! But sadly I don’t pay attention enough to have an answer to this...Citizen by Claudia Rankine has a pretty thought-provoking cover. I also like the Penguin Classics cover of The Crucible.
12: Who is your favorite author?
C.S. Lewis is a p cool dude
13: What’s your favorite writing quote?
Quote about writing? This was an important one for me as a growing writer and person, tbh:
“I deal with writer’s block by lowering my expectations. I think the trouble starts when you sit down to write and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent—and when you don’t, panic sets in. The solution is never to sit down and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent. I write a little bit, almost every day, and if it results in two or three or (on a good day) four good paragraphs, I consider myself a lucky man. Never try to be the hare. All hail the tortoise.” ~ Malcolm Gladwell
This is literally me and the roots of my procrastination and anxiety with writing anything, be it fanfiction or school work. I worry too much about making it perfect the first time, but another great quote is: “The first draft is always perfect because all it has to do is exist” or something like that. It’s something I’m still working on, but have gotten better at.
14: What’s your favorite writing blog? c;
You mean besides mine :p haha JKJKJK I don’t follow any purely writing blogs, but I’ve read many GREAT pieces from (I missed SO many people in this, so I’m really sorry if I didn’t tag you. I’m too tired to go hunting too far.)
(Sanders Sides) ssides, random-snippets, tinysidestrashcaptain, stillebesat, pirate-patton, among others
(Soul Eater) smokeandjollyranchers, professor-maka, tsarodat, makapedia, kittenintheden, raining-down-hearts, earth-shines, sandmancircus, poisonedscarlett, among others
For non-fandom stuff, hawaiianmint and garnet-portrait have some great poetry that really makes my heart hurt.
15: What would you say has inspired you the most?
As far as writing, I assume....honestly, being involved in fandoms and writing fanfiction! I’m only where I am now because I read so many great writers and adapted their good habits to my own.
16: How do you feel about movies based on books?
I haven’t been a fan of a ton of books turned to screen productions, so that doesn’t help. I liked the Narnia movies until the Dawn Treader. I liked the ASOUE movie, and I’m still deciding how I feel about the Nextflix series. Other than those, I can’t think of any significant ones, to me lol
17: Would you like your books to be turned into TV shows, movies, video games, or none?
Books that I like or books that I write? Etiher way it depends on who’s directing.
18: How do you feel about love triangles?
Eeehhhhhhhhhhh overused trope that ruins otherwise perfectly good plots.
19: Do you prefer writing on a computer or longhand?
Computer. It’s so much easier. I won’t even pretend.
20: What’s your favorite writing program?
I just use Word, my dude.
21: Do you outline?
Not as often as I should, but it helps me a lot.
22: Do you start with characters or plot?
It’s give and take between both, usually characters, though.
23: What’s your favorite & least favorite part of making characters?
Favorite is customization and how no one can tell you that your own OC is OOC.
Least favorite is how involved and difficult it can be.
24: What’s your favorite & least favorite part of plotting?
Favorite is how much fun it can be to throw in twists and make it all interesting!
Least favorite is how I tend to overthink things or not be brave enough to really GO for something. Also research can suck.
25: What advice would you give to young writers?
You’re young. Don’t worry about being amazing at first. You’ll learn and you’ll grow. Online, ins a supportive community, is a good place to start.
26: Which do you enjoy reading the most: physical, ebook, or both?
Physical 100% (I’d print out and read fanfiction that way if I could okay)
27: Which is your favorite genre to write?
Uuuuuuuuuuummmmmm fiction? lol
28: Which do you find hardest: the beginning, the middle, or the end?
Depends on the story, but usually the end.
29: Which do you find easiest: writing or editing?
Editing
30: Have you ever written fan-fiction?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah yes. help me.
31: Have you ever been published?
Naaahh
32: How do you feel about friends and close relatives reading your work?
Anything other than my fanfics: Shy, but ok.
My fanfics: NONONONONONONONONONONONONO TOO MUCH. EMBARRASSING. -Virgil Sanders 2k4ever
33: Are you interested in having your work published?
I mean maybe, but I’m not good enough, tbh lol
34: Describe your writing space.
My bedroom.
35: What’s your favorite time of day for writing?
I don’t have a favorite, but it often strikes when I should be doing something else.
36: Do you listen to music when you write?
Sometimes! Depends on what I’m writing and how tired I am.
37: What’s your oldest WIP?
I have a lot of things I never finished, but in this case, WIP means, to me, that I might actually finish it, so that would probably be one of a handfuls of old Soul Eater fics I never finished or posted lol
38: What’s your current WIP?
Just one????? LOL
“Patton’s Intuition” (Sanders Sides Fic)
“Virgil the (Semi-)Friendly Ghost” (Sanders Sides Human!GhostAU)
“Eggs and Black Coffee” (A Soul-Eater College!AU)
“A Rose by Any Other Name” (Another Soul-Eater AU)
“Bedside Manner” (Soul-Eater Hospital!AU)
39: What’s the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?
Mmmmmmm I don’t think I’ve really had any weird ideas. I once thought of doing a Soul-Eater Avatar:TheLastAirbender!AU.
40: Which is your favorite original character, and why?
I have a few original characters. I guess my favorites would be the twins, David and Preston, from a story I wrote in high school called “Buried Alive.”
41: What do you do when characters don’t follow the outline?
Go with it.
42: Do you enjoy making your characters suffer?
No, but sometimes that’s just how the story goes.
43: Have you ever killed a main character?
Not actively in the story.
44: What’s the weirdest character concept you’ve ever come up with?
I don’t have one lol
45: What’s your favorite character name?
Cassidy
46: Describe your perfect writing space.
In the mountains, a sunny day, on my back deck
47: If you could steal one character from another author and make then yours, who would it be and why?
Oooooooooooooooo in the fanfiction world, I really love Marin’s (ssides) University!AU versions of the Sides.
I really like the characters in The Book Thief, To Kill a Mockingbird, and East of Eden. I just really like the personalities and characterizations of those characters.
48: If you could write the next book of any series, which one would it be, and what would you make the book about?
I’d start a new A Series of Unfortunate Events series about little Beatrice.
49: If you could write a collaboration with another author, who would it be and what would you write about?
I’d love to collab with so many writers I’ve read on here.
Mmmmmm IRL though it’d be too embarrassing to try to write with a published author because I’d get too nervous and doubt everything I did.
50: If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?
NARNIA

KBTBB FIC RECS PLZ I NEED MORE IM ON BREAK AND I NEED TO DESTROY MY LIFE WITH THESE BABIES
I’m not sure what type of fics you like/what characters you like, so I’m going to share some of my current faves (all by my friends ironically)
((I’M SORRY FOR BLOWING UP YOUR NOTIFICATIONS WITH TAGS GUYS RIP))
Serious Fics/Drabbles:
99 Reasons Why I’ll Never Be Good Enough For You by my wife friend @catchthespade
I think this idea is really original, and of course the writing is phenomenal. Anything with Eisuke’s inner dialogue and the Bidders teaming up is A+ in my book. I’m also a sucker for angst, and this is some angst
if i missed you, would you hold it against me also by @catchthespade
I literally almost cried reading this, and I rarely cry. I love the direction this fic went in; the last scene nearly killed me. The way Spade writes this is like a dream, and it felt so melancholy and surreal. You can really feel Eisuke’s struggle with the loss of his best friend and love, along with the uncertainty of suddenly being thrusted into the role of a father.
Your Influence; KBTBB AU by my fave friend @maidofstars
It’s a triple espresso fic (ShuichixMCxHikaru in case you didn’t know) that left me s h o o k. I love the idea of the whole angel/devil dynamic, and the way she writes Shuichi gave me confidence to write Shuichi too if I’m totally honest. I love. I live for this AU and w o w I am in love.
Letter two hundred and sixteen by my sunshine friend @bolt8826
More Eisuke angst because I like to suffer, but her writing is so g o o d holy shit. I love the concept of this series, and Eisuke seems so… human here. It’s not often that people explore his vulnerable side, but this series does just that. Also the imagery of Eisuke having 215 letters on his desk makes me cry so I want everyone else to cry, too.
Unbelievably Happy (Fluff) ♡ by my queen friend @oh-heaux
I may be biased since I requested this drabble, but it’s honestly so great. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and I’m glad that Shuichi is getting more recognition as a multi-facated character here. Ciara is the queen of smut fics, but I like seeing this new side to her writing. Highly recommend this - and all - of her writing.
Shitposting/Funny Headcanons:
KBTBB - At the Beach by @catchthespade
I laughed my ass off, and I love how detailed Spade gets with her shitposts :’) she even included visuals, and it’s truly a gift.
KBTBB: Your fave is problematic also by @catchthespade
Words don’t even do this justice, just look at it please omg. I didn’t realize at first that Eisuke’s first point was a video, and it made this entire post 100x funnier once I watched it tbh
The Bidders and Karaoke: headcannon by @bolt8826
The v i s u a l s I get with this are hilarious. Eisuke is so extra, and I was in tears by the time I got to Baba’s part. I love how she gives examples of what they’d pick too ihifdl,c
The Bidders + MC on a Roller Coaster by @maidofstars
This is still one of my favorite headcanons to date oh my g o d. It’s perfect for summer because who doesn’t like to go to amusement parks over summer break? :’)
#friends#talented friends#asks#writing recommendations#Kissed By The Baddest Bidder#kbtbb#Voltage#all of my friends are great please look at their work#I tried to pick a variety of genres/lengths/writing styles#so there should be something for everybody#((but you should really read them all since they're so good))

MARI MARI MARIIIIII 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I LOVED THAT FIC SO MUCH I COULD WRITE 10 BOOK ON WHY THAT IS THE ULTIMATE REPRESENTATION OF A PERFECT FIC OK. It's so good I'm suffering. Now lemme explain my sorrow. 1. The fucking characterization (which as you perfectly know since I always scream about it, is a kink of mine). I mean, Yoongi and the progressing of how the OC changed her opinion of him. Truly a great job cos it makes the reader effing think about the characters (who's lying? Who's saying 1..
The truth?) and Jeon omg the whole “acting like a robot but hello ik very much human” idea WAS GREAT and it made his relationship with the oc special since you had to pick up every subtle way his used to show affection :’) And the oc was pretty cool too!!! I liked how, still being ‘Mari’s oc’ (yes I can recognize em ok) this time she was a bit more strong and independent, which ofc was perfect for her role as a commander. 2. The pace. Holy moly my love how you improved!!!! I thought it was 2…
Impossible since it already were perfect in your past fics YET YOU SURPRISED ME ONCE MORE. Cos I mean it’s a damn 30k fic yet it felt like much much less!! I think the shifting between present and past helped a lot (btw a technique that is super cool since it helps adding more suspense). SO YEAH CONGRATS ON IMPROVING DARLING *claps the shit out of her hands* 3. THE ATMOSPHERE OMG THE ATMOSPHERE (book 4,5,6 of said series I’ll write about this fic will be all about atmosphere lol) 3…
You know I love the darkish fairy tail like atmosphere but man SCI FI IS TRULY YOUR GENRE GIRL!!!! It was a nice alternation between realistic settings in the woods and the spaceship (btw at the beginning it was super cool that description) and futuristic devices :’) it all blended so well :’) god it made me want more ahahah (im low key a sucker for this, and dystopian novels in particular). So all the build ups and descriptions were totally worthy 💖 I could see how passionate you got by 4…
How carefully you chose your words (oh, some metaphors were truly breathtaking ok, I saw some improvement in that area too :’)) and by how detailed you were!! You did a super good job on that 💖 4. THE CONCEPT (books 1-3) ok listen, my dear, I have no words to explain how much I was intrigued by this!! It was creative and truly original for a fic im so glad you shared it with us cos it was a breath of fresh air!!! Really, I need more of it ahahaha. It fitted so well your style too (both 5…
Precise and detailed and veeeery smooth, which I important cos with such a big concept having a messy/mazy style would totally make the reading difficult) 6. And finally the ending!! I don’t wanna spoiler people so I can’t say much, BUT THAT PLOT TWIST MARI I LOVED IT EVEN THO IM SUFFERING AT THE SAME TIME FOR JEON OK. But it was meant to be like this, and I wouldn’t change a word :’) also ANOTHER OPEN ENDING YAAAS look I don’t even think you should write a sequel, cos that end was truly 6…
Perfect how it was (and tbh I fear an even more angsty sequel lol) and you know im a sucker for open endings :’) so yeah I loved that too! *me is proud* 7. Lastly… I HAVE to scream about my fave two scenes!! Aka the living room scene when the oc and Jeon are 16 and their first kiss :’) you really got so good at being clear yet very subtle in your description! You could feel for real the tension and the awkwardness and the love and admiration and the oc realizing things… Just every single 7..
Emotion by the smallest details you chose to describe, and this, Mari dear, is an art :’) Oh god how fast was racing my heart!!! I’m truly glad I read it, it was an amazing experience and im still shook and hype and emo :’) aaahhh thank you so so so much, I loved every single word and im sorry my asks are not enough to express how much I really, truly enjoyed that lil gem :’) I love you and now I’ll shut up cos this is getting awkwardly long as usual rip me. (and I have to dream in the 8…
Tags since ofc imma reblog that fic!! It has to go straight to my fic rec page *wink wonk*) Ok I embarrassed me enough bye ily 💖💖 *hugs* 9/9 (im so sorry this is so long pliz love my weird self anyway)
THIS IS THE LONGEST MESSAGE SOMEONE HAS EVER SENT ME AND I AM NOT COMPLAINING, NOT ONE BIT, YOU SPOIL ME TOO MUCHHH
the moment I posted this 30k of madness I genuinely started worrying about every single detail I wasn’t sure about, and suddenly every piece of dialogue and every scene seemed lacking and I swear I was getting so damn paranoid AHAH so really, reading this from you, who is so meticulous with her plots, just makes my day. thank you for assuring me that I’m improving (finally!!! took me long enough) and you bet I will keep working on my style because reading your feedback always pumps me up like crazy hehe. I am so passionate about sci-fi so hearing you say that it fits me just makes me so so emo *weeps* THANK YOU THANK YOU brb gonna go cry ;;

I reread kingdom of two basically every day I’ll never get tired of it. Just wanted you to know I appreciate you so much for making your idea come to life ❤️
OMGSo I didn’t get to respond to this until I got home but when I saw the message I got all fuzzy inside and the rest of my work shift became so much easier.Like I was feeling like shit because my leg is all janked up and I am still in that mindset where I refuse to use a cane so I struggle even more which then makes me frustrated and low.
But t h i s.This made my day. Just made my mood so much better. So thank you so much for taking the time to send me this message.
If anyone is interested in Kingdom For Two, it’s a Real Life AUAs most readers of KFT know, this fic is my baby because there’s a lot going on in it that hits close to home and it is based on an original work of mine.
I’ll leave a couple of my fave reviews under the cut so you can get a feel for it
Guest: “This AU is beautifully written! There’s so many things I really like about this story and to list them all out would take too many pages, but to name a few: I adore how rich the details are and how grounded in the real world the story is, I like how you’ve characterized and described everybody because it shows how complex they are (like Fugaku!), and the shifting points of view are awesome. I also really enjoy your author’s notes at the bottom. Your notes make the story extra special because I think that in writing this story, you’re showing us readers your vulnerability and so I feel like I’m learning more about you in addition to thinking about all these great characters. I’m looking forward to seeing where you take this story. Thanks for writing!”
Elegies for Shiva: “This is one of my favorite all time Sasusaku fics and most definitely my favorite AU of them. I hate how late this review is coming, because you really deserved one (and many more) the moment I read it, but I’ve been absolute shit with like everything lately and I just don’t have enough apologies nor praise to give you.I can go on and on about how absolutely fluid the interactions between Sasuke and Sakura feel. Your translation of Sasuke in canon to this real life AU is SPOT. ON. I feel his conflicts, his general demeanor and brooding disposition, and his muffled ardor coming out seamlessly in this piece. And it’s no worse for Sakura too, she’s smitten, and wanting, and fierce and uncertain, and they’re both just so wonderfully human and relatable, and their love fits together like jigsaw puzzles. I also love Naruto in this. I often find myself conflicted about his character because he’s such a stereotypical protagonist but he’s also someone with a lot of complexities when you want to hone in on it. I personally find myself wildly attracted to the Narutos in real life because they just carry good fucking energy. But that doesn’t mean they don’t carry their own hardships, (and sometimes I’m utterly confounded by the weights of them, when I finally have the honor of hearing.) I think the pieces we get of Naruto’s involvement in Sakura and Sasuke’s relationship when it was budding makes him so relatable. He’s warmth and sunshine, but he’s also imperfect, and I don’t know anyone who endures heartbreak with consistent grace. And I love Ino and I love Karin and I love Suigetsu, and Itachi, Izumi and Shisui. I just love them all, their oozing with individuality and personalities and they each play their own important role, and feel so REAL. I think one of the greatest things about you as an author is that you explore contemporary issues and smash untraditional and typically frowned upon concepts. Itachi alone embodies so much marginalized identities, being asexual, suffering from chronic illness, being in a polyamorous relationship. It’s actually properly and delicately explored to show just how nuanced these narratives can be, and yet, still very human instead of the aliens we make them out to be. And Sasuke is demisexual! Which I TOTALLY see him being as in canon too tbh. I just love these facets of your story, I’m such a slut for social deviation and the inclusion of all these elements has me hooked.AND THE FAMILY DYNAMICS UGH. These are stories that I die for. I meet people and I just want to jump straight to their childhood traumas because I think so much is rooted and informing in those early stages, and everything that family is involved with. Sasuke’s household is so very real, and a lived experience for more people than I can say. There’s also far worse ones, but I think this is a narrative that needs to be explored, because we’re always getting the white picket fence household, or the radically abusive one. But there is also homes that fall somewhere in between that, dictated by a cold dysphoria and a quiet and it can be really fucking crippling for the kids. They come out and they just don’t know who they are, and it’s such a strong reason why I categorize neglect as a form of abuse.”
