Hi Shrikekit. What's your favorite part of being a warrior cat?
Shrike: I’m not really a warrior yet- Sandleaf says I’m too young to help out much other than changing moss in the dens- But my Papa used to tell me warrior stories! Like how he fought in the war against ChestnutClan and defeated their old leader! Fighting sounds like the most fun part

Forever mad that Rowanstar chose Tigerheart (who is still kinda a fresh warrior) as his deputy while Tawnypelt is right there!
She's a senior warrior, experienced more than any ShadowClan alive at the time and she constantly had Rowanstar's back, helping him manage the Clan.
We've been robbed.

Journey Cats Relationship Dynamics
Here's the dynamics at play during the journey!
Brambleflower+Squirrelpaw: Annoying precocious younger sister (Squirrelpaw) meets overprotective exasperated big brother (Brambleflower). Squirrelpaw gives Brambleflower a panic attack every 0.5 seconds with her antics, while she finds him to be smothering and a buzzkill. Their relationship is still a very good one and they both care for each other deeply despite fighting a lot.
Brambleflower+Tawnypelt: Very awkward attempts at sibling bonding (Brambleflower) met by quiet refusals (Tawnypelt). Brambleflower misses his sister desperately, seeing her as the only one who can understand the hell he went through as a kit because she went through the same thing as his sister, and wants to rekindle their relationship. Tawnypelt deeply misses him as well, but she believes that they shouldn't get close again as they are from separate Clans now. Their relationship will never be the same, but only one of them acknowledges that. Very angsty.
Brambleflower+Crowpaw: "What's with this sassy lost child" (Brambleflower) versus "I'm not a kit or your apprentice, stop smothering me" (Crowpaw). This is mostly a comic relief dynamic, with Brambleflower treating Crowpaw the same as he treats Squirrelpaw, but with a lot more pushback from Crowpaw, who is an edgy little shit who refuses to put up with what he sees as Brambleflower babying him. Meanwhile, all Brambleflower wants is to make sure this apprentice survives the journey.
Brambleflower+Feathertail: Respect and regret (Brambleflower) and bitter dislike and resentment that slowly turns to acceptance and respect (Feathertail). Feathertail is much more vocal of her negative feelings towards Brambleflower and Tawnypelt than her brother is, and Brambleflower takes it much worse than Tawnypelt does. He already feels extreme guilt over his father's actions and Feathertail isn't helping. After getting chewed out by her brother, she eases up a little and ends up coming around to him somewhat.
Brambleflower+Willowfur: Respect and regret turned friendship and awkward crush (Brambleflower) and distrust turned friendship (Willowfur). Brambleflower goes from just liking Willowfur's company and having things in common with him to falling in love, meanwhile Willowfur goes from irrationally disliking Brambleflower due to his resemblance to Tigerstar to respecting him for his skill as a warrior. Also effective are Brambleflower's wildly different personality compared to Tigerstar, being an anxious people-pleaser rather than a narcissistic tyrant. Willowfur never realizes Brambleflower's feelings, and Brambleflower never tells him.
Squirrelpaw+Tawnypelt: These two don't really interact much, despite Brambleflower's attempts to make them bond with each other as an attempt to bond with his sister through his apprentice. Squirrelpaw doesn't like Tawnypelt, seeing her as being emotionless and too serious. Meanwhile, Tawnypelt enjoys Squirrelpaw's spunkiness but wishes she would listen more to the adults around her and stay out of trouble.
Squirrelpaw+Crowpaw: Grumpy emo meets peppy go-getter. They hate each other at first due to their clashing personalities, but they slowly find common ground and eventually become friends. Squirrelpaw helps Crowpaw emote more besides his general anger and depression and gets him to actually have fun. Whereas Crowpaw helps Squirrelpaw deal with her hyperactivity and is somewhat her voice of reason.
Squirrelpaw+Feathertail+Willowfur: Wanting to connect with a branch of the family you've never met versus trying to hide your jealousy and anger towards an innocent child who's done nothing to deserve it. Squirrelpaw has the happy, idyllic childhood Willowfur and Feathertail never got to have with all of her parents around. She can see their father every day, while they can only see him once a month if they're lucky. But she loves them and wants to be part of their family, not knowing a part of them secretly resent her. Messy.
Tawnypelt+Crowpaw: Recognizing yourself in a troubled child and trying to reach out (Tawnypelt) and an angry child lashing out at an adult who he sees as talking down to him (Crowpaw). Crowpaw desperately wants to prove himself to his Clan, having been born after his father's death to a depressed mother. He just wants to be seen as a capable and strong cat, but doesn't really know how to do that besides acting tough and pushing others away. Tawnypelt seeks to help Crowpaw cope better, but her stoic nature causes him to interpret her attempts as bossing him around.
Tawnypelt+Feathertail: Respect (Tawnypelt) and distrust that turns to friendship and a crush (Feathertail). Feathertail distrusts Tawnypelt due to her resemblance to Tigerstar but also secretly thinks she's really pretty. Tawnypelt feels guilt towards Feathertail and Willowfur due to her father's actions and respects their abilities and their boundaries. They eventually end up bonding over both feeling out of place in their home Clans and become friends and develop mutual feelings. But both know this can't last, and they resign themselves to their fate as being acquaintances at best after the journey is over. "In better circumstances, I would have loved you" "I know".
Tawnypelt+Willowfur: Respect (Tawnypelt) and distrust that grows into respect of her leadership skills (Willowfur). Willowfur distrusts her due to her resemblance to Tigerstar, but he notes the effort Tawnypelt makes to be a good cat and that she has good leadership qualities. Tawnypelt respects Willowfur and feels guilt for her father's actions against him and his sister and does her best to avoid making them uncomfortable, which Willowfur appreciates.
Crowpaw+Feathertail: Baby's first crush (Crowpaw) versus caring older sister figure (Feathertail). Feathertail finds Crowpaw's crush on her cute, but treats him like the child he is. She acts as his primary mentor during the journey (mostly because he only really listens to her). Crowpaw wishes she'd see him as an adult and reciprocate his feelings but that's because he's immature. He eventually gets over it and just looks up to her as a role model.
Crowpaw+Willowfur: Another pair that doesn't really interact too often, but that's because neither of them really like each other. Willowfur dislikes Crowpaw's hostile nature and how he clings to Feathertail, while Crowpaw dislikes Willowfur because he tries to keep him away from Feathertail (who he has a one-sided crush on). Willowfur isn't exactly hostile towards Crowpaw, just preferring to ignore him. Crowpaw, however, is very hostile towards Willowfur.
Feathertail+Willowfur: I don't usually assign songs to characters, but their dynamic is essentially the song "Evelyn Evelyn" by Evelyn Evelyn. The two are very codependent with each other as a result of all their trauma, but they are very different and butt heads often. Willowfur is mostly quiet and unobtrusive, while Feathertail is outspoken and fiery-tempered. During the journey, Willlowfur worries obsessively for his sister's safety, while she pushes back against his overprotective nature.

ive got to get into rv darktail and violetshine some more
. im thinking that rather than being removed from shadowclan by needlepaw while joining the kin, darktail strolls into camp and declares that he wants to take his daughter home. (this is where violetkit learns hes her dad, though other shadowclan cats like needle figure it out first- tbh im considering needlepaw specifically tips him off so shes still got some responsibility here but in a “shes clearly being groomed” way)
theres some conflict because the cats want to keep violetkit as a pawn in the prophecy, or use her ghost powers which have begun to bud. but the leader (who is either russetstar or tawnystar, not rowanclaw. theres gonna be a shift there but i havent decided which one), exhausted of the rogues, just lets darktail take her, saying she should be with her family, away from the clans. thunderclan strictly refuses to give up twigkit. this fucks violetkit up even more, because suddenly, NOW keeping her from her family is bad? when this family is not the familiar warmth of her sister, but a manipulative tom with a history of violence, who’s been villainized constantly by her clan? NOW theyre okay with letting her go?
darktail uses this to manipulate her, tell her that the clans discarded him just like they discarded her, how they ruined their family and how they only have each other- he saved her in time, but they cant save twigkit because she’s been corrupted by now.

A few lil ref sheets I did for myself for the Sasha/Goldenflower kits and the Goldenflower/Tigerclaw kits ^^
In this AU I switched the dynamic in TNP a little, while Bramble ended up going to shadowclan in TPB, Tawnyflower brings Squirrelpaw along the journey begrudgingly, and falls in love with Feathertail, and holding the “leader” position of the chosen cats.
Crowfeather still takes on her suffix, as they had more of a friendship than romance, as Feathertail kinda coaxes him out of his shell to get along with everyone and especially Squirrelpaw.
Meanwhile, Mothstrike and Leafpool have a sort of enemies to lovers vibe, as Leafpool is helping out Hawkfeather, she’s initially very intimidated by his sister. Leafpool def catches feelings first, and Mothstrikes pretty aware of that, and enjoys kind of egging her on, shifting the “fire and tiger” omen (now renamed the “fire and gold” omen) onto Mothpool, instead of Bramble and Squilf.
After Mothstrike dies trying to kill firestar, leafpool waits in her dreams every night, and every half moon hoping she’ll walk in her dreams (which, sadly she doesn’t)

☠ đŸ›€ïž 🌘
Most impactful death scean:
☠
Probably Yellowfang. I really love mentor-y characters, and dieing is usually part of that. I think i did cry when i first read it as a child. Her acknowlaging Fireheart as more of a son to her than Brokenstar, and that having helped him grow to be a nobel cat, and mentoring Cinderpelt, are things that she can be proud of. And the fact that Fireheart saves Bramblekit over her, and the implications that has on their relationship going forward. And what it means Cinderpelt as well.... ahhh
I'm really excited for this one in the graphic novel, considering how much they've focused on Yellowfang and Fireheart.
Also Tigerstar being killed by Scourge. For completly different reasons. It's kinda one of the most interesting things the series has ever done plot wise. And the scean itself is so brutal and vivid in my mind.
Also Briarlight, though I dont think she should have been killed. Its just a heartbreaking scene.
Favorite journey:
đŸ›€
I think the journey to bring all the Clans to the lake teritories. I like it when all the clans have to work together, and its the most extreme example of it. Traveling with such a large group also gives a lot of interesting dynamics and obsticals. An extention of that, probably one of my favorite parts of the new prophecy, is when Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Tawnypelt, Crowfeather and Mistyfoot go on a scouting party around the lake to find locations for each camp. I like how it shows what they take into consideration for where they want to live, and the discriptions of each territory. Also, i love ThunderClan's quarry camp and Squilf doesnt get enough credit for being the one to find it.
I havent read River yet, but Im very excited to read about Frostpaw and Nightheart's Excellent Adventure.
Character with the most wasted potential:
🌘
Every. Character. In. Warriors.
I have a lot of inturpritations of various characters (Brambleclaw, Spottedleaf, Nightheart) but i know they probably arent Really Canon, so they do count as wasted potential in my mind, but they arent exactly counter to canon so....
Needletail. Her death was impactful, and im glad she spent some time as an angry ghost instead of immediatly falling into StarClan Wisdom mode. But she was the one of the Unruly Children to almost have a coherent understanding of the problems in clan society. She thought Darktail was the answer, because he positioned himself that way and she was inexperienced and lonely. I wish she had survived because it could have been really interesting to see her trying to reckon with her ideals post-Darktail. Maybe have her be the one to acknowlage that all of that happened because of Onestar and his prejudeces. To know that she wasn't entirly incorrect in observing that the Clan's devotion to tradition causes a lot of problems.
In my fantasy world she'd even become deputy under Tawnystar and eventually leader... and Violetshine could become leader of SkyClan... and Tigerheart and Dovewing stay with the gaurdian cats idk. Or form a new clan somewhere else. Tigerheart being her deputy could be fine i guess. But i feel like she'd do something wild and pick dovewing instead lol. Having a leader with strong opitions that run counter to clan tradition while also being kinda prickly and sarcastic would be really fun I think. And just in general i wish she got to live. I like her.
Related, ive been on a 'Tawnypelt should have been Tawnystar and its robbery that she didn’t" kick recently.
Also kinda related, Tree. I wish he had more influence in the clans, and that he was even more of a hippie. I wish the mediator role would be adopted by all the clans.
